🫣: Tell me about a time when your OC has been truly terrified/horrified by something.

He stood before the monument, anger coiling inside him as he stared at the mocking statues. Oh how badly he wants to destroy them, but knows it would only make things worse. His breath comes out uneasy, mask in hand, footsteps getting louder...

He shouldnt have done this.

He panicked and had stolen his mask from Juliana and ran off to the plaza of all places, he didn't even know WHY he stole it, she would've given it back to him...well his Pokemon half but still! She was going to return it! But panic and fear got the better of him and it was too late, he sealed his fate with the mask in his hand.

"Kieran!" He could hear his sister's voice shouting at him long before the footsteps. He tried to focus on his breathing, to ease the thumping in his chest and the several set of eyes that bore down on him.

He went to turn to face her, expecting her to have just gotten pass the gate...

Nope

She was coming right for him.

Anger in her eyes

He messed up.

Juliana looking confused and scared behind her, calling out for her to stop.

Kieran couldnt do anything as his jacket was suddenly grabbed by Carmine and lifted up, forced to stand on the tips of his feet.

"What the hell were you thinking Kieran!" Her voice bellows in his ears, making them ring.

"I-I was"

"You were WHAT huh? What could have been so important you stole Ogerpon's mask like that."

Before he could get a word in she let go. His balance was lost and he stumbled back into the moument.

A horrible feeling hit his back. What was suppose to just be stone felt like he got hit with Poison Jab. A shout of pain ripped out of him as he crumbled to the floor in a wheezing pain. He could hear Carmine's voice change from anger to panic.

"K-Kiki?"

A pained groan slipped out of him as he felt his bandana shift off his head. something felt wrong.

A shaky hand reached up and confirmed his fears, his horns were out and visible, Carmine starring down at him in mute horror and shock.

"C-Carmine I-" He was cut off by a chilling presence of dread. He whipped around to find the monument shaking, a malicious purple glow forming around the statues. A pathetic squeak left him as he scrambled to his feet, running past Carmine and Juliana, ignoring their cries.

He had to run, had to escape, he couldn't let them find him, no doubt they'd make him hurt like he made them all those years ago. His chest beat rapidly as he escaped down the pathway, trying to desperately outrun the dread coming back to life.

Dread sank its cold claws into his stomach, he couldn't run back home, those monsters would kill his grandpa. Tears stung his eyes as he ran past the village and up the well trodden path. his form shifting more and more with every step.

He ran to the only place he felt safe.

His eyes fell onto the den not before too long. He just had to get in and seal off the entrance before they reached him. He just had a few more feet to go

Has writing the Dustin Experiment changed your perspective on the ST characters in general? I’m curious as to whether you were already a Dustin or Eddie fan beforehand, or if writing this book made you feel *closer* to the characters, or simply more appreciative of them in ways you might not have been before. I can just imagine how cool it’d be to be able to write an official book for a show you’ve loved so much and wanted to know if the process has given you a new outlook on certain aspects

This is such a fun and thoughtful question, thank you!

I have so much love for every single Stranger Things character but writing them from a canon perspective definitely made me appreciate them more. Like, I always appreciated Dustin for his humor and smarts, but in doing my analysis of his character and in writing his problems, fears, and flaws, I definitely came to love him and understand him even more. I hope people reading the book also take away a new perspective of our little Dusty-bun! He's so much more than comic relief or even the voice of reason or the provider of lore for the Upside Down. He's also a kid who cares so deeply and so loyally for the people he loves while simultaneously being terrified of being unwanted and being left alone. Here's a lil snippet of the whopping 10 pages of notes I did for my Dustin Bible while doing a Dustin-centric rewatch before writing this project -

(Disclaimer: this was completely my own personal analysis and prep, not approved by or even shared with the ST team, which is the only reason I can share it here, lol.)

Getting to that core "fear/pain" is always essential for me to understand a character. And for Dustin at this point in the timeline between seasons 3 and 4, having felt left behind by his friends in seasons 2 and 3, enduring the change of friends leaving after season 3, and going into high school, I really wanted to dive into those feelings and fears of being left behind and people changing and moving on without him. That is ultimately the core emotional conflict of the book. That's also what makes the novel tie-ins so fun--these feelings brushed off as one-liners in the show actually have the time to develop and unravel in a book focused on Dustin's character. Understanding those fears and how they play into how he goes into season 4 definitely made me love him and relate to him so much more.

The other big character I developed so much more love for was Eddie. I loved Eddie but never was wholly obsessed the way many people are, but writing him and his relationship with Dustin made me love him so much more and he ended up being amongst the most fun characters to write in the whole project. His voice and mannerisms are so fun to play with, the balance between rough-and-tough-metalhead and nerdy-softy-heart-of-gold was such a fun line to toe. He's over-the-top at times, and surprisingly restrained in others. And he cares much more than he wants to admit. Writing him from Dustin's perspective gave me so much more love and appreciation for him. I know how much people love Eddie, how protective his fans are of his character, so I really wanted to do him justice. I told friends half-jokingly while writing that if the Eddie fans are happy, I've done my job well. (No pressure, haha.)

Maybe I'll do a more formal analysis of my reading of Dustin's character as we get closer to the book's release :) I'm also eagerly awaiting permission to share even tiny snippets of the actual book... But for now - writing this story absolutely gave me a deeper understanding of most if not ALL of the characters but especially Dustin and Eddie. I hope when the book comes out, you guys feel even a small amount of the love I poured into it!

I’m thinking a Yandere concept for Kakyoin as I could see some Yandere potential

Yandere! Noriaki Kakyoin Concept

Pairing: Romantic

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Stalking, Overprotective behavior, Possessive behavior, Jealousy, Theft, Manipulation, Delusional behavior, Threats, Violence, Murder, Blood, Isolation, Clingy behavior, Kidnapping, Dubious relationship.

First of all, Kakyoin would be obsessed with a fellow Crusader in this concept.

That would allow an easier way for his obsession to grow and you two to bond.

Although an alternative is you were originally classmates before becoming Crusaders (It would be an AU).

It's canon that Kakyoin wants to feel calm and at ease with a partner.

In that case I imagine he'd start as friends with his obsession, but fall for them when he realizes you soothe him.

He formally meets you when Jotaro removes the flesh bud from his head.

You no doubt have a Stand due to being a Crusader and are nice to him even after the flesh bud incident.

Jotaro may hold a grudge against him for a bit but you are a bit more understanding of the new threat.

For the most part Kakyoin is depicted as honorable, respectful, polite, prideful, yet loyal.

He isn't that bad to talk to and genuinely cares for the companions he has in the Crusaders.

Although he is cruel and ruthless towards opponents... It's a bit unnerving, actually.

Kakyoin's obsession would develop as Part 3 goes on.

Which leads to plenty of interaction with all the Crusaders.

Kakyoin gets used to all of the Crusaders, especially you.

He's close to all of them but you're the only one who has managed to believe in him and make him feel... relaxed despite the situation.

Which would make him realize his crush on you.

Like most/all of Stand Users, he'd use his Stand to keep track of his obsession.

It would be easier if you couldn't see Stands, yet he just needs to be more careful since you can.

I can see Kakyoin using Hierophant Green to keep an eye on you.

Like, at first he's using it to keep an eye on Stand Users in the area.

He just wants to make sure the crew stays safe on your journey and likes to look after you if the others can't.

Although eventually he may be more... sinister with his Stand.

Despite his personality I like to think Kakyoin is an unhinged yandere.

It starts with just wanting to be loyal and protect a friend.

But then he just gets... worse.

He's easily jealous and possessive with you, his Stand often acting as a spy more than a guardian.

He seems like he'd steal small objects from you or use Hierophant Green to stalk you if he can't.

Kakyoin seems like he's polite and honorable, right up until he falls into his obsession.

Now he's delusional and overly obsessive.

To the point I imagine he's almost like the classic yandere.

Things like daydreaming about you, giggling at the idea of being with you alone.

He tries to pretend he's still his usual self.

He's not... he lost that since he fell for you.

Due to how ruthless Kakyoin is with foes, rivals or those who "get in the way" are met with... brutality.

He doesn't have a problem, they don't understand his love.

I can see Kakyoin being terrifying if someone got in his way.

He may use Hierophant Green to threaten someone into staying away from you.

His gaze is cold the whole time, if that doesn't work...

Well, I wouldn't be too surprised if Kakyoin snapped and killed someone for you.

He'd hide it and pretend it never happened.

But his smile seems off and his eyes are... dark.

Kakyoin would be highly manipulative and convince you and the others that things are fine.

He'd most likely not hurt the other Crusaders, not unless he felt cornered.

Which may happen considering how close he is with you.

It's eerie how he's never away from you.

The others often suggest you don't share a room with him, Kakyoin often objects.

Even if the others are suspicious, Kakyoin is thankful you're open-minded.

Although you are concerned that he's been... a bit too attentive?

Oh I can just imagine Kakyoin's rage during the Yellow Temperance portion.

The moment he finds out someone was pretending to be him and was near you?

It would be a miracle if Kakyoin didn't kill him.

Kakyoin may also be physically affectionate.

He feels at ease in your arms, often asking you to not mind the others....

He's just stressed.

He lives for your touch and comfort.

Worried about the blood he forgot to clean?

Oh... It was just an enemy Stand User-

Question him? He remains stern and tells you not to worry about it.

Kakyoin seems like a master manipulator.

If the others confront him on his obsession, he may break the mask he puts on.

Who are they to say he can't have you?

If the others tried to separate you from Kakyoin, he'd put up a fight.

The only one I think can successfully subdue Kakyoin is probably Jotaro.

After all, clearly something is wrong with Kakyoin.

It's unhealthy to be so obsessive and possessive.

Yet Kakyoin doesn't seem to care.

He's killed for you... He can use Hierophant Green to keep you... The others can't keep you away from him.

He'll be beside you no matter what it takes.

Not only is he clingy and ruthless, he's delusional.

He thinks you're so nice to him because you love him.

In reality, you just care for all of the Crusaders.

But to Kakyoin... It means you're meant to be.

I don't think it's too far-fetched for him to defect from the Crusaders if he feels they'll take you from him.

One night you wake up no longer in your hotel room...

It's just you and him... His stand tightly wrapped around you.

Kakyoin may do anything to be with you, including kidnap you.

After defeating DIO, he plans to properly date and maybe even marry you.

The others can try to stop him... But push too far and he may just get rid of them too.

"You love me too, don't you? Don't worry... I'll make you happy, I promise. You'll never be alone when you have me... I won't let anyone else touch you...!"

Submitting specifically because Cinderella III: A Twist in Time has lived rent-free in my head ever since I was a small child.

This Cinderella is most young (western) peoples introduction to this very story. Cinderella is so hopeful and by getting one small magical adventure, her whole life changes for the better. She is skilled and inspires such loyalty with her kindness that it’s hard to dislike her for any reason she gives. I’ve always been jealous of her ball hairdo too.

Walt Disney put all he had into this movie. And his favorite animation was the dress transformation scene. There’s a reason she is often front and center on the Princess group promotions.

she is the original. to me. probably the first exposure to cinderella for a solid chunk of people alive & on tumblr today. she is just a perfect encapsulation of everything that cinderella is, even if she's become warped in the public consciousness. also i'm pretty sure she's the reason why the glass slippers are so predominant in more recent retellings bc she is simply so iconic. 100/10 no notes 💜

She's maybe not the OG OG but she was one of the first animated Disney princesses and strangely enough it doesn't stop her from having an amazing personality. She's literally a slave but keeps being a nice person, forgiving and always doing her best. And the sequels absolutely didn't ruin her character. She's a sweet girl who tries to fit in but who's loyal to the person she is and who tries to change things always in a cute and sweet way to show people it's not that hard. She literally forgave Anastasia and tried to help her after all she did to her (the scene where the step-sisters destroy her dress still is terrifying to me)... she's awesome and deserves more recognition honestly...

This girl’s biggest chance was unfairly snatched away from her. When the Prince was brainwashed she was enough to get him to double take. She was so Right that their connection over powered magic. And she had to be rescued from a ship. And was almost crushed within a pumpkin! And finally had to expose another imposter, who turned out to be just another victim of Lady Trameine. This Cinderella fought harder for her love because she knew what True Love was like and she still was able to forgive those who asked for it.

Disney animated the original fairytale but definitely made it more magical and less creepy (like the birds making the step sisters blind? It gave me nightmares for ages). If I think: which one will I want to rediscover multiple times? Disney's Cinderella. Plus Cinderella 3 is a masterpiece.

This sweetheart of a man is incredibly protective. Tends to stalk and guilt-trip you. Not only does Rudy get jealous often and tends to think extremely gruesome things in his head with a gentle smile, but he’s good at hiding the fact about his devotion towards you.

There are many ways Rodolfo could’ve met you, likely you’re in the military or a civilian he ran into at the store but the main thing that caught his attention from you was how unique, and kind you were; able to stand your ground when needed and didn’t take shit from anyone.

It was quite hot, honestly. From his perspective, a lot of people ignored him or were feared by him, as he’s the man in second command – just below Alejandro.

Though, you treated Rodolfo nicely. More of a human being than a soldier on campus. It was relaxing and highly appreciative. Especially when you don’t mind when he messes up his flirtatious acts or gets embarrassed when his Colonel interrupts the conversation between you two.

Continuing from the headcanon above, Rudy will try the ‘normal’ approach, using his flirtatious words and respectful manners to catch your heart. Ignoring the fact that he often stalks you, he tries to get you to like him – often taking you out on expensive dates, and showing you that he’s a liable guy. Especially with the help of Alejandro, he often shows up to your house with a bottle of wine and a huge handful of bouquets.

He’s the type of guy that shares a lot of things with you. Eating out and still hungry? You can have the rest of his food, he’ll eat back at home. Need to borrow money? Have his whole credit card and buy whatever you need! All of it is yours, just say a ‘pretty please’.

While at first he may come off as ‘awkward’, don’t let that skim the idea of love. Rodolfo really does try to impress you with his entire heart. He goes out of his way to surprise you with your favorite foods, getting tickets to see a premiere movie, or grabbing your favorite fast food due to you having a bad day.

With this going, there is a high chance the two of you will end up dating ‘naturally’. Other than his overprotective and stalking/and hovering add-ons in the relationship, it’s considerably a normal relationship.

Though, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have dark tendencies. Rodolfo will end up guilt-tripping you whenever he’s jealous (which is 50% of the time). While he knows it’s bad and feels awful for it, he can’t help but feel immense anger and annoyance whenever you talk to someone he doesn’t know that well.

He still remembered how it had hurt when Ran had told him about her decision, and to be honest, he didn’t like to hurt anyone ever again.

But if he didn’t get over Ran, he would hurt Julia anyway. He would always hurt her.

Shinichi let out a sigh. Well, he was probably thinking this too much. It was almost midnight and Julia was probably sleeping already. His chance to talk to her would be in the morning. And that made him feel uneasy because part of him would have liked to get over this as soon as possible, but at the same time, maybe this would give him more time to prepare.

Though he wasn’t sure how he could prepare for it. Could anyone be ready for a talk like that? And he was pretty sure that these thoughts and feelings wouldn’t let him sleep.

The hotel’s doors opened and he stepped inside. Somehow his feet felt heavier and his walk just slowed before he stopped middle of the lounge. He felt like he wasn’t ready to go to their room, not at all. He lowered his head, looking at the floor.

Part of him wanted to turn to his parents and talk about this whole mess. He knew that they probably couldn’t help him, but maybe he just wanted to talk about this with someone, get it out of his chest, and maybe they could give him some kind of advice or something. But he didn’t feel very proud of himself right now, and even though he knew his parents would be kind and wouldn’t judge him - and it probably wouldn’t surprise them that he still loved Ran -, he still felt like they would be ashamed of him. He knew that he was wrong, but he couldn’t help it.

But if he would stay alone, he would just feel guilty about the whole mess he had made. And he wasn’t sure if he could just go to their room and lie down beside Julia like nothing had happened. That would probably only make him feel more guilty.

Maybe he just should turn to his parents. They would understand, right? And even the idea, of spending the whole night alone with these thoughts…

“Shinichi!”

And even if he wanted to say that voice was the best thing he knew, hearing it made him feel sick. He hadn’t waited to hear that voice this soon. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, hoping that he wouldn’t vomit right there.

He wasn’t ready for this. 

Yet he opened his eyes and raised his head to see, how Julia ran to him, looking surprised, but happy. Her hair was in a bun and she had a nice dress and high heels, and Shinichi was pretty sure that she had been in the hotel’s restaurant with his parents.

And even though he had a moment ago wondered if he should speak with his parents, now he started to hope that they wouldn’t come out to witness that exact moment when their only son was going to mess up everything he had.

And it was enough that Julia was there, smiling happily and those bright eyes looking at him. It just made everything harder. Even though he knew that it would be best just to tell her everything, he hated to be the one who would swipe that happiness away from her.

But whatever he would do, he would make her life just miserable.

“Hey, darling”, she greeted him in English, wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly. Shinichi hugged her back even though that little gesture felt also so wrong. “I thought you would be back later”, she continued before kissing him on the cheek and moving a little away to meet his face. “How…” Yet, that question died there while that happiness changed into a worried look. “Is… everything okay?”

And Shinichi let his hands drop, making her take a step away from him. Yet, he observed those light blue eyes and thought about this one last time. She was nice and kind, energetic, he liked her. Not strong-willed but loving. He genuinely loved her, he really did…

But not as much as he loved Ran. She was strong-willed, had her own mind, and dared to say what she was thinking, didn’t turn around because he said so. Her touch was soft, her orchid-colored eyes special, and her smile the most beautiful. With her, everything was easy, comforting… She made his head pound, she made him stare at her, wanting to memorize all details of her, every shape of her, observe her every movement, learn her every mood, every expression, every…

She was still the mystery that attracted him. The mystery he wanted to investigate, learn…

And Julia could never be that close.

And even though he would go back to America with her, trying to forget Ran again… It wouldn’t be fair to her.

Julia deserved better. Better than this.

Better than him.

“Shinichi?”

“I… I almost kissed her.”

“Wh… what?”

Shinichi closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath, before meeting her eyes again. They were mixed in confusion, but at the same time, he could see a hint of sadness and hurt.

“Ran”, he said finally. “I… I almost kissed her.”

And seeing how that confusion changed into sadness and hurt, he knew she had understood where he was going with this. He wanted to say something, but he had no words. He didn’t feel good just to tell her that it was over, but at the same time, he didn’t want to say out loud that he still loved Ran.

“So… You still love her?”

Well, she said it. And looking at those eyes made Shinichi feel pretty bad. Over five years ago, he had looked at different colored eyes that looked exactly the same, and back then, even though the situation had been a little different, he had hoped that he wouldn’t be the reason for those hurt and sad eyes, but it seemed that he couldn’t do anything else than bring misery.

He dropped his eyes because he just couldn’t look at her any longer. “I do”, he admitted. “More than anything”, he added before he could stop himself.

“Why?”

The question made Shinichi raise his head to look at her. She looked angry. “Why?” she repeated. “Why do you still love her that much? After all this time? God, she was the one who threw you away, she was the one who broke your heart! She was the one who left you and moved on, and still, you care about her enough to leave everything else behind you?”

“She had her reason”, Shinichi said. “I lied to her…”

“Just to keep her safe”, Julia shouted. “And if she would have loved you as much as you love her, she would have understood it!”

Shinichi felt how something cracked in his heart. “Julia…”

“What in the world makes her so special that you still can love her?”

Shinichi lowered his eyes. Everything, he wanted to answer. You have met her, you can tell, he wanted to say. Like he could name anything or even tell. This was ridiculous, because Shinichi had always had some explanation for everything, something reasonable to explain himself, but this time, he just couldn’t. It was a feeling that he had. When he was near Ran, everything felt somehow different: relaxed and comforting, and yet a little bit exciting. Every time Ran was away, he missed her, thought of her, wondering what she was doing, if she was okay. And every time he thought about her, he just wanted to see her. He just wanted to be close to her, be with her…

He didn’t wait for Ran to take him back. Even less now that he had tried to kiss her. Hah, who even would want to man who was ready to kiss another woman behind his fiancée? But even though he knew that his chances with Ran were long gone, he just couldn’t make himself hate her or stop feeling like he did. Because he understood that she had her reasons and they were understandable. He didn’t blame her.

“She just… is”, he said finally and let out a weak laugh, because his answer was so childish, so stupid. Yet, he couldn’t give any better. “Everything just feels so much different with her”, he continued and met Julia’s eyes finally. “I don’t say I didn’t feel good being with you, but somehow, with Ran, everything I feel with her goes even further. Like… far beyond.” He shrugged. “I can’t explain it, really, but… for me, she is special.”

“So special that after everything, you would go back to her if she would give you a chance?”

Shinichi smiled shortly. “I would”, he answered. He wasn’t proud of that answer, but he knew deep down that it was the truth. Ran could throw him away as many times as she would like to, but he would be fool enough to still love her and go back if she would just ask him to. But then he let out a sigh. “But she won’t want me back”, he said, feeling another sting in his heart, but tried to ignore it. “She had said it herself.”

“Good”, Julia said much harsher than Shinichi waited for. “Because I think she doesn’t deserve you.”

“No”, Shinichi corrected. “I think I don’t deserve anyone.”

“You’re wrong, Shinichi”, Julia said and her expression softened. Shinichi observed how she came closer, lowering her hand to his chest… “You deserve only the best”, she said with a smile.

I don’t, he wanted to argue.

Julia lowered her head for a moment before meeting his eyes again. “If you need more time to get over her, we can take a break”, she suggested, smiling at him. He could still see tears in her eyes. “You can take as much time as you need. I will wait. As long as you need me to.”

Shinichi lowered his eyes and smiled.

“I asked someone once to wait for me”, he said silently. “And she waited. As long as I needed her to. And for what?” He raised his head and smiled at her sadly. “I’m not worth waiting. Don’t waste your time for me.”

“Shinichi…”

“Really”, he stopped her. “Because… As much as I want to say I can get over her, somewhere deep down I know that I can’t. And… It’s not fair to you. It’s not fair to waste your time if I can’t get over her.” He kept a little pause. “If I can’t give you back as much as you deserve.”

Julia still kept looking at him, tears in her eyes, like pleading, hoping for a difference. And Shinichi looked back, determined. He felt bad. He really did. But it was for her best. She wouldn’t wait for him, she didn’t need to go through the same as Ran once did. Instead, she would have all the time to get over this and… and find someone who would deserve her and could make her happy.

But even though Shinichi felt a little bit better, he had no idea what he would do next. Probably like Julia, he had thought of going back to America, marrying Julia, and maybe starting a family with her, but now that has changed. All he seemed to know to do was to break his own and others' hearts, and it seemed that again he was the one who would carry that sadness on his shoulders. He felt like he was at the same point as he was five years ago. He was lost again.

“I can’t turn you around, can I?”, Julia said finally.

“You can’t”, he said. “It’s better this way.”

She let out a broken sigh, yet, even though there were tears in her eyes, she smiled.

“If I can be honest, I… I was a little afraid this would happen”, she continued and looked a little down. It made his heart crack. “That day, I… I saw how you looked at her, and…” She let out a broken laugh. “Well, I realised that you may still like her.”

God, had it really shown from him? But if Julia had seen it and suspected something, why hadn’t she said anything?

“I’m so sorry, Julia”, he said finally and lowered his head. “I should have realised it sooner. I should have realised that I’m not over her and…” He let out a weak laugh. “I still think I like you, pretty much, but… but…”

“I’m not her.”

“You’re not”, Shinichi admitted. “She is just… She is just something… special.”

“Well, you can tell it to her”, Julia said finally. Shinichi frowned but observed how Julia took the engagement ring from her finger and grabbed Shinichi’s hand, putting it on his palm. Then she met his eyes again. “Because of what I have seen and heard, I think she loves you too.”

Shinichi frowned at the same time when Julia let go of her ring and took a step away from him. “Ran?” he asked confused. Then he let out a dry laugh and shook his head. “I have told you, she doesn’t like me like that anymore…”

“Really?” she asked unamused and looked somewhere behind him. “Then why she is here, then?”

Slowly, Shinichi turned around to look at the outdoors. And to his surprise, Ran stood there, looking at them, like she wasn’t sure if she should come closer or leave.

How much she had seen?

“I take my things and take another room”, he heard Julia say. He turned to look at her, and she had already turned her back to him.

“Julia…”

“We are fine”, she said without turning to look at him. “But if you excuse me, I feel like I need to go to cry my heartbreak out, so… I need a little bit of time to myself.”

He knew he had done enough already, but he wished he could do something to make her feel better or take that pain away. But he couldn’t do anything else than say: “I’m sorry, Julia… I really am.”

She looked at him over her shoulder, trying to smile. “You and me both, Shinichi”, she said before turning and walking away.

“Shinichi?”

Nice. He had just broken up with his fiancée, and now he needed to face his ex, whom he still loved deeply.

What a mess he had arranged again. But maybe he deserved this.

“Ran”, he said and turned to look at his childhood friend who had come closer to him, looking worried and like she had… cried. And he also realised that she had lost her make-up. To be honest, he wasn’t sure if she had even worn one, but something about her face was different, so it made him believe that she had had one. “What are you doing here? I thought you had fun with others.”

She frowned and looked even more frustrated. “Well, I… I…” It seemed that she didn’t get out any words, and instead, her eyes wandered to the elevator. It took a moment before she asked: “Was she angry with you?”

Shinichi turned a little bit to look at the elevator door which behind Julia had disappeared a moment ago. “Yeah”, he answered simply, and as a habit, he put his hands on his trousers’ pockets.

“I… I can explain everything to her.”

Shinichi frowned. “Explain what?” he asked and turned to look at Ran. He didn’t follow what she was talking about. “There is nothing to explain anymore.”

“We- well…” Ran seemed to be nervous. “She was angry because… because of me. Right?”

Shinichi shook his head. “No”, he said. “She isn’t angry because of you.”

“But I tried to kiss you.”

Shinichi knew it was late already and he was pretty sure that he had drunk only that one beer that Ran had offered him, but somehow he felt like he was so lost. To be honest, he wasn’t even sure what had happened during that “almost kiss”: He just remembered looking at Ran’s eyes and got some urge to kiss her, and when he had realised what he was doing, he had stopped himself, and then Ran had been gone. So it had been his fault, right? He had tried to kiss her.

Maybe Ran was just trying to take the blame to save him.

“No. I tried to kiss you”, he corrected. “And she isn’t angry because of that, but because we broke up.”

“You… you broke up?” Ran asked, looking even more sad. “But… why?”

Shinichi looked away. “What does it matter?” he asked and turned to walk to the couches. He sat down on one of them before raising his hands and rubbing his face. What a day he has had: An argument with his mother, the class reunion, Sonoko claiming that he and Ran were still in love with each other, then Ran taking him to the dancefloor, he had almost cheated on his fiancée and finally broke up with her.

But there was still one mystery: “But why are you here?” he asked finally and dropped his hands to look at Ran, who had followed him with slower steps like she was hesitating to follow him. She stopped in front of that couch, yet she didn’t sit. She met his eyes before lowering her gaze to the floor.

“Well, I… I was worried”, she said finally and glanced at him fast. “You disappeared so suddenly and I… I thought you left, and… and…” She stopped. Then she finally looked around and turned to sit down on that same couch, just leaving a little space between them. Then she just stared at her hands which she kept on her lap, looking somehow bothered.

“I’m so sorry”, she said finally.

“Ran…” Shinichi sighed.

“Because if I hadn’t tried to kiss you, you wouldn’t have to tell Julia and she wouldn’t be mad…”

“Ran, stop!”

Ran shut her mouth. Shinichi took a deep breath before opening his mouth again. “Listen. It didn’t happen because of you okay?” he said. “It happened because of me. Because I broke up with her. Because I didn’t want to hurt her more than I have hurt you. Because… Because I…” He lowered his eyes, looking at the floor. Well, there goes nothing. “Because I still love you”, he said finally. And before he could stop himself, he continued: “More than anything else.”

“Shinichi…”

“So I did what was right”, he said, hoping to stop Ran from saying anything else. He didn’t need her pity, he didn’t want it. Yet, he opened his hand and looked at the engagement ring. He remembered how he had bought it for her, how he had carried it in his pocket wherever he had gone with her, only waiting for the right moment. And how he had finally kneeled in front of her…

“I really loved her though”, he said finally, closing his hand. “I won’t lie: when I went to America, I just wanted to take some distance from you.” He collected all his courage to meet Ran. “I was so jealous of you when I saw you with someone else and I was so heartbroken from the truth that you looked so happy and free without me. So, I thought that some time with my parents would give me enough space so that when I came back, I wouldn’t feel so bad. In the end, for me, the most important thing is that you are feeling fine and safe. And if it is without me, then so be it.” He kept a little pause, looking at his hands again. “But I got my chance to study there, and I met her… And of course, some other people. But I told them about you and our relationship and I really worked hard with it. I wanted to get over you and my feelings because it was the only right thing to do. And I did and then I fell in love with Julia, I genuinely did. But… But then I came back to Japan, met you again, and…” He let out a laugh because he felt really, really stupid. He straightened himself only to lean on the couch back and look at the ceiling. “All this time I had lied to myself, thought I could love someone and give my heart to them, let them be something special for me. But… It has always been you.” Then he turned to look at Ran. “And probably will always be.”

And he could see how tears glimmered in her eyes. “I’m… I’m so sorry, Shinichi.”

And even though he had known it all this time, it felt like she had broken his heart again. His mother, Sonoko, and even Julia had been wrong. She didn’t feel the same. And even though he hadn’t had time to build any new plans on that, maybe, deep down, he had hoped that maybe, maybe there would be even a little chance to him, that maybe they could try at least one more time…

“I just threw you away five years ago because I was always doubting you and all your words. I didn’t talk about it even though now I realised that I should have said about it. Tell you about it. And only after you disappeared, I realised that I was just looking for someone like you in my life”, Ran continued with a cry, making Shinichi out of his miserable thoughts. “And when you finally came back, I was so happy to see you and all, but when you introduced your fiancée, I was… I was so heartbroken”, she said, and even though she was wiping her tears, she smiled. “Because I had been so selfish and hoped that one day, I would meet you again and I would get one more chance, because… because I still love you.”

Ran…

“I met Julia-san just because it seemed to be important to you, but… but all I wanted to do was cry”, Ran admitted. “Because even though I thought you deserved only the best and all the happiness, I… I was so heartbroken because I just… just… wanted you back. I also knew that the class reunion would be a mistake, but I still wanted to spend even a little more time with you before… before you would leave again.” Then she started to cry and covered her face with her hands. “I’m… I’m so sorry Shinichi. About… everything.”

Shinichi looked at her crying before straightening himself and gently, wrapped his arms around her, making her lean on him. “It’s okay, Ran”, he said while pressing his head against hers, closing his eyes and listening to that familiar cry. “I’m so sorry too.”

General Eridan Relationship Headcanons

* This relationship would most likely take a lot of time and effort, Eridan’s personality is full of false bravado and colorful insults but since he genuinely loves you he would try his best to tone it down and be better about it.

* He’ll try to change himself for the better, learning how to be more genuine and just nicer in general, it’s hard but he’ll do it for you.

* At first he may act high and mighty if you’re a land-dweller. He acts as if he’s doing you a favor, as if you need to bask in his presence.. though slowly but surely he’ll warm up to you and realize that you may not be so different after all.

* When his mask breaks and you can genuinely trust each other he’ll start showing that he’s excited- yet apprehensive. He doesn’t know how this will go and that worries him, but with your help he’ll pull through.

* Like in the cuddle headcanons, he absolutely loves ranting about his interests and being genuine for once. It feels good to let down his walls and actually talk to somebody who cares about him. Of course he’d listen to your interests too, absolutely lovestruck and gazing at you (or the text on the screen, depending if it’s in person or not) with heart eyes, resting his head on his hands and leaning in on the table listening to your every word.

* He tries not to make everything about him, wanting to make you feel wanted too. If you want to do something with him then he’ll do it, dates are very frequent with the both of you typically choosing where to go.

* Of course he still occasionally acts “holier-than-thou” but now it feels.. less defensive, and if you were to point it out and joke about it he would only get flustered, not genuinely angry because now he trusts you.

* I love the whole “Eridan gets flustered over liking things” scenario but I also absolutely love exploring how it would feel to Eridan if he genuinely could trust someone, if he could let the walls he’s built up his whole life down around a single person who’s done nothing but love and care for him, and for that he would be eternally grateful even if he doesn’t show it.

* This dude is super clingy omg

* Whenever you two go out he will be holding your hand the entire time as a subtle way of saying “fuck off I’m dating them”

* He’ll also get jealous easily rip </3

* If anyone tries to flirt with you he’ll get super defensive about it, the troll would know not to mess with him after that though seeing as he’s a fucking Violet blood (which omg that sounds terrifying now that I’m thinking about it)

A - Acceptance — How long did it take for them to accept that they were in love? What were they like after accepting it?

I think he’s fairly quick to realize it but he takes a very long time to truly accept it. He tries to push you away at first, not wanting to drag you into the mess that is his life. Not wanting to doom you to the same fate that seems to befall to everyone around him. His heart couldn’t take it if something happened to you so it’s incredibly difficult for him to open himself up to that again. He doesn’t want to get hurt again, nor does he want you to get hurt because of him. He’s also baffled by the fact that you want to be with him, want that life for yourself because of him. He tries to take it in stride once he actually accepts that he has feelings for you. But he stumbles. A lot. He’s never felt this way about anyone and his lack of self worth and anxiety poses many issues. But he’ll figure it out with time. Your patience is deeply appreciated and more than worth it. Dante will spend an eternity at your side if that’s what you wish. 

C - Confession — How did their confession go? Was it planned or was it out of the blue?

He really tries to plan something out, how extravagant his plan is, is up to your preferences. He’ll plan to keep it more lowkey if you’re not into theatrics. Hell, he might just plan a whole fireworks show if you’re just as dramatic as he is. But I don’t think he’d end up actually going according to plan and it just slips out as casually as any of his quips do. Or perhaps, at night when you’re sleeping and he doesn’t think you can hear him. Less chance for rejection that way. 

V - Vulnerable — What’s something their s/o does that makes them weak to their knees?

I don’t think this is actually all that difficult due to how little experience he has with romance, and people just being kind to him in general. Nor has he had much stability, so just knowing that he has something to come home to everyday has him pretty soft. Genuine worry about his wellbeing, listening to him talk about things he’s interested in, laughing at his jokes, complimenting him also mean a lot to him, more than he lets on. He’s also a sucker for anything physical as that is his love language. He’s a lovebug but initiating touch or seeking him out for comfort touches him as well. 

Vergil:

A - Acceptance — How long did it take for them to accept that they were in love? What were they like after accepting it?

He’s more resistant to this than Dante is. Romance has never been something he’s really considered given how his life has gone so far. He’s only just now began to accept that human part of himself -- that part that allows him to have these feelings for you. He has a very long way to go on this journey and that part of him that’s terrified of others hurting him has not gone away, and likely won’t for some time. So he has a hard time accepting all of this -- accepting that you love him especially. But he so desperately wants to be loved, to have someone accept him for who and what he is, to have someone who doesn’t define him by his past. So to have that from you forces him to accept his feelings for you after some time. Like Dante, he stumbles a lot and it’s hard for him to adjust to but you’ll find that you have someone fiercely loyal and protective now at your side. Forever, if you’ll have him. 

C - Confession — How did their confession go? Was it planned or was it out of the blue?

You’ll probably have to the one to confess first since there’s a small part of him that doubts your feelings for him. So it’s easier for him to verbalize his feelings after he hears it from you first. He’d like to plan it out but Vergil is impulsive -- despite popular belief, so it’s likely something that slips out against his will. He also likely has awkward or inappropriate timing, and he’s scared -- terrified, really. It’s not the most eloquent confession but it’s so incredibly sincere and touching; you can’t find it within yourself to complain. 

V - Vulnerable — What’s something their s/o does that makes them weak to their knees?

I don’t think this is difficult to achieve with him either since he’s not been shown much kindness in his life. He’s been tortured for about half of it and never exactly surrounded himself with people who genuinely cared for him in his younger years. So genuine affection is nearly foreign to him and it catches him off guard. He’s also quiet and often withdrawn and with this comes a certain level of awkwardness. So he’s hesitant to really try and interact with much of the crew. So if you were to go out of your way to talk to him or try to include him, he’d seem uncomfortable and likely would be, but he appreciates it more than anything. Being kind to him and gently trying to get him out of his shell are great ways to earn his affection.

Pressure AU Storyline

Hey yall! Since I post a lot about Lieutenant and Sebastian art wise but haven’t really talked about them I figured I’d set down the foundation of this AU! This will be about their meeting and relationship in the Blacksite :3

Roughly a couple years before in game events Lieutenant (only known as Z-216 then) and another group of experiments are given the chance for better living conditions and more freedoms if they retrieve the crystal from the Hadal Blacksite. Those that agree are unknowingly being tested to see if the entities in the Blacksite would react differently. The group finds out quickly that isn’t the case and Z-216 ends up becoming the sole survivor, having dived into Sebastian’s shop.

At this point in time Urbanshade had never sent down experiments, and as such Sebastian is surprised by the sight of this mothman looking creature and even a small shred of pity for them. It’s due to that pity that he allows them to stay huddled in the corner of the room as they process the whole ordeal.

He expects them to leave once they gather themself back together and he does his whole shopkeep speech, but they don’t. Instead they plead with him to be able to stay, that they won’t be trouble and that they can stay right in the corner. But please, let them stay.

It annoys him to no end, he’s not some charity shelter for poor vermin. But he understands and knows the pain of the surgeries and experiments they went through. They share that with him.

So reluctantly he makes a deal, they work for him and in return they’re allowed to stay, but ONLY in their corner.

The start of a wonderful partnership, Z-216 now named Moff gets shouldered with delivering the crates of supplies to the sub dock, scavenging dead Expendables for extra supplies, and the occasional file grab for Sebastian. They act as his second in command, and when Urbanshade finds out they get their new nickname “The Lieutenant” after stealing a kill squadron’s assignment detail.

All the while Seb and Moff get closer, and for the first time since he was transformed he’s starting to trust someone.

Which to him is terrifying. He’s had his trust shattered and taken advantage of, he can’t do it again he promised himself.

But being around Lieutenant and how they’ve gone from a scared thing to confident and loyal to a fault, he thinks to himself maybe he could put a shred of trust in them.

So they get closer! Until they get to a point where Lieutenant asks to perch on his tail and he lets them.

It’s strange, he hates physical touch, has thrown off every boundary crossing Expendable who thought he was a jungle gym and yelled at them to not get close. But finally there’s someone else that he trusts, someone who even asked for permission.

And it’s nice, Lieutenant’s fluff feels soft and warm on his scales, and he can barely feel them as they perch happily and begin to groom their antenna.

He makes them get off soon after, but for the first time in years he’s experienced another person’s presence without feeling an overwhelming sense of distress.

From then on it becomes semi routine for them to ask, get permission (and if not simply nod and skitter back to their nest of torn jumpsuits) and perch on his tail, with each time they stay on increasing with each subsequent day until you can see them loafing on a segment of his tail randomly as you enter his shop.

In a sense they become a kind of emotional support for Sebastian, they’re the biggest constant in his life down there and he’s learning that he (surprisingly) enjoys their company as they chatter about random things.

He won’t admit that he cares for them, never. They’re just a Pest and a nuisance that managed to stick around like a buzzing fly.

But also they’re soft, and sometimes funny, and entertaining. So maybe having a pest around isn’t so bad after all.

Submitting specifically because Cinderella III: A Twist in Time has lived rent-free in my head ever since I was a small child.

This Cinderella is most young (western) peoples introduction to this very story. Cinderella is so hopeful and by getting one small magical adventure, her whole life changes for the better. She is skilled and inspires such loyalty with her kindness that it’s hard to dislike her for any reason she gives. I’ve always been jealous of her ball hairdo too.

Walt Disney put all he had into this movie. And his favorite animation was the dress transformation scene. There’s a reason she is often front and center on the Princess group promotions.

she is the original. to me. probably the first exposure to cinderella for a solid chunk of people alive & on tumblr today. she is just a perfect encapsulation of everything that cinderella is, even if she's become warped in the public consciousness. also i'm pretty sure she's the reason why the glass slippers are so predominant in more recent retellings bc she is simply so iconic. 100/10 no notes 💜

She's maybe not the OG OG but she was one of the first animated Disney princesses and strangely enough it doesn't stop her from having an amazing personality. She's literally a slave but keeps being a nice person, forgiving and always doing her best. And the sequels absolutely didn't ruin her character. She's a sweet girl who tries to fit in but who's loyal to the person she is and who tries to change things always in a cute and sweet way to show people it's not that hard. She literally forgave Anastasia and tried to help her after all she did to her (the scene where the step-sisters destroy her dress still is terrifying to me)... she's awesome and deserves more recognition honestly...

This girl’s biggest chance was unfairly snatched away from her. When the Prince was brainwashed she was enough to get him to double take. She was so Right that their connection over powered magic. And she had to be rescued from a ship. And was almost crushed within a pumpkin! And finally had to expose another imposter, who turned out to be just another victim of Lady Trameine. This Cinderella fought harder for her love because she knew what True Love was like and she still was able to forgive those who asked for it.
