his expression softened, his body losing all tension as he let his hand lay flat against angel's thigh now. the reassurance did help him feel better but no amount of reassurance would stop him from blaming himself for what happened. because if he hadn't have gotten involved with axel, if he chose somebody else to hook up with or just left it at that one night, neither of them would be in the situation they were in. angel wouldn't have gotten assaulted, garam wouldn't have had to endure the pain, developing jealousy, and emotional turmoil that was forced upon him. he understood that he couldn't control the choices axel made, of course, but there wouldn't have ever been the possibility of that outcome happening if he'd listened to those who warned him before getting himself in too deep with the man. "you're too nice to me," his words were hushed, garam was thankful that angel didn't put any blame on him. he wasn't sure what he would have done if angel had pushed garam away because of what happened. he was thankful that angel was honest about it, too, so he was able to step away from his relationship with axel. garam wanted to laugh when angel said they'd sleep in his car but he managed to keep his composure, only letting a tender smile show. he lifted his hand from angel's thigh, gently placing it on the man's cheek, allowing his thumb to caress over skin. "oh, honey, i love you but we are absolutely not sleeping in your car." there were plenty of other options if they weren't actually able to go back to his apartment. they could stay with garam's parents, they'd turned his old room into a guest room so there was definitely space for them. plus, the gated community provided them a lot more safety. even though his parents knew what happened — the gist, not every detail, he knew they would press for more information and garam just didn't want to talk about it with people that weren't directly involved. nor did he want angel to feel pressured to talk about what happened with him, either. they could go back to his own apartment, though he was sure angel wouldn't feel comfortable there and axel did have a key — he made a mental note to talk to his landlord to get the locks replaced. hotels were still an option, too. sure, axel could easily follow them there but they could just as easily warn staff about him, too. besides, with the right hotel choice, there'd be far too many floors and even more rooms for axel to be able to find which was theirs. "we could just skip going back and stay at a hotel for a couple nights, instead. i mean, if he's waiting for us, there's no way he'd know where we went after the mall." he still hadn't noticed any cars following them, surely axel's brother wouldn't go as far as following them back home, so he figured they were pretty safe. "we can order room service, watch some movies... take a nice, hot bubble bath." he tried to make it sound more enticing, as if he were trying to convince angel to say yes. "it'll be super laid back, super chill. nobody will know where we are so we won't have to worry about anybody bothering us."
Angel kept both hands steady on the wheel, but his jaw tightened as he heard the faint tremble in Garam’s voice. Even before Garam looked over at him, even before he spoke, Angel could feel the shift in him—the way he reached out, gripped his jeans, and held on like he was drowning. That quiet desperation was something Angel was becoming painfully familiar with, and it lit a slow-burning fury in his chest. Not at Garam. Never at Garam. But at the man who’d reduced someone as vibrant, sharp, and complex as Garam into this fragile version of himself. He didn’t look over immediately. The road was mostly clear, late afternoon shadows stretching over cracked pavement, the world humming along like nothing was wrong. But Angel’s thoughts were a storm. He was already doing the math—how many exits between here and the apartment, how many minutes it would take to get there, how long they could afford to sit in the parking lot if anything felt off. Would he be able to face Axel again? “What if he’s waiting for us to come back?” The words cut through the silence like a blade. Angel exhaled through his nose, slow and measured. “Then we don’t go in. Simple as that.” It wasn’t much of an answer, but it was honest. If Axel was there, they’d turn around, call someone, stay somewhere else. Anything but walking willingly into danger. Only then did Angel glance over, just long enough to see the tracks of Garam’s tears, the way he tried to keep his face composed even when it was clear he was falling apart inside. Angel’s grip on the steering wheel tightened again. “You’re not the one who needs to feel guilty,” Angel said, voice low but firm. “You didn’t make him the way he is.” Garam’s silence lingered between them like smoke. Angel continued, eyes still on the road. “I don’t care what you did or didn’t do after that first night. Whatever happened, Axel made his own choices. And he chose to be violent. You didn’t ask for this.” Another moment passed. Then, quieter, “And I’m not going to let him touch you again.” It wasn’t a promise made out of bravado or some empty sense of chivalry. Angel didn’t see himself as a savior. He just knew what it meant to be alone in fear, and he wasn’t going to let Garam face that again—at least not without someone standing between him and the next blow. The car turned off the freeway, nearing the neighborhood. Familiar streets now looked warped by suspicion. Every pedestrian seemed like a potential shadow, every parked car like it might hold a threat. Angel’s gaze flicked across every intersection, every corner. “We’ll check the place first,” he added. “If anything feels wrong, we go somewhere else. I don’t care if we sleep in the car tonight.” He reached out, one hand briefly leaving the wheel to rest over Garam’s. “You’re not alone in this, okay?” Angel’s voice was still calm, but it carried a rare gentleness—something deeper than reassurance. It wasn’t just about protecting Garam. It was about reminding him he was worth protecting.

"Oh! Yeah, uh--sorry, about that. Dragon drool isn't exactly easy to wash off..." He winced, using his arms to show her what to do as he explained, "You, you kind of have to, to scoop it, and flick it."
He ducked his head, "Yeah, well, you know... I couldn't exactly tell the other merfolk that my head had been turned by a human. They, they'd flip! But Toothless? He can keep any secret, and I found out fairly quickly that I could tell him just about anything."
Astrid's realization took a moment to process. "That was Snotlout? He did that?" Hiccup leaned forward, gingerly brushing his fingers along the scars in Toothless' scales from Snotlout's bola. "Well, at least it doesn't hurt him anymore..."
Toothless lowered his wing, allowing Hiccup to slide back down to the ground. "I have no doubt. I've seen the other side of dragons...but, deep down? They're all just like Toothless, here. They're really not all that different from you and me."
Opening his satchel, he took out the jellyfish oil he'd packed the day before. "I know we have a busy day ahead, but this won't take long," he opened the jar, and began applying it to his scales.
"I was wondering if you'd like to have some breakfast here. Toothless and I could catch some fish..." Another thought occurred to him. "Or, maybe we should get back to the village sooner rather than later. I don't particularly want to cause your father additional worry, once he realizes where you were."
After a long training session, all Astrid wanted to do was cool off on the beach. Maybe a tiny swim, even though the ocean was so cold at this time of year. She pushed through the brush and staggered down to the shore.
Only to find a boy lounging in the shallows.
“Oh!” She dropped her axe in the sand. From his bare torso, she assumed he was naked. “Sorry! I didn’t know someone else would be…here…” as the apologies flowed, she realized from the waist down, he had green scales and a pair of fins.
No wonder she hadn’t recognized him.
“No way…” she inched closer. “A real mermaid! In the flesh! Are the stories true?” She stamped down her overwhelming curiosity for a moment to give him a stern point. “Don’t try anything fishy, mermaid. I’m very capable of protecting myself, got it?”
((I saw the prompt and went feral, hope you don’t mind))
[X]
Hiccup started, the water around him splashing as he sat up straight in surprise, before he moved a little further back, his cheeks flushed.
"No, sorry, I, I shouldn't--" Ducking his head, the merman awkwardly held up a hand, "Usually no one comes here..."
But his movements only caused his tail to briefly break the surface, emerald scales glittering in the sun for a moment before dipping below the water again.
Firmly, he responded, "Merman. I am a merman. And no, don't worry, I, I wasn't going to try anything...I know you'd probably kill me if I did..."
Clearing his throat, he ran a hand through his hair, which had partially dried in his time sitting in the shallow water. "What, what stories are you referring to?"
He knew, or at least had a gut feeling about what she was asking, but he wanted to hear it from her. She appeared wary, but not fearful. Maybe these humans didn't have the same fears of his kind like the others?
#threads#partsypants#merman au#(((just borrowing a little lore from Aquamarine#I'm pretty sure she said she used jellyfish oil#probably due for a rewarch of that movie actually...)))

I was going to embroider a rose or something in the corner of this handkerchief, but then I realized I could do a wizard, so obviously I did a wizard.

He paused. "It, it is? Well... didn't Lyra's cling to her for a bit, after the initial switch? Maybe it's similar to that?"
Still, the idea that a remnant of his time as a fae would stay...it made the corner of his mouth tug upwards in a grin.
His mood quickly shifted as the weight of the ice fae's words settled on his shoulders.
He set his knife down as well, resting a hand on her shoulder and bending slightly to meet her eyes. "We both agreed that destroying those books was the right thing. If they had gotten into the wrong hands...Kia, things could have been so much worse."
"None of us knew the extent of her wounds. I don't even think Lyra knew herself. You, you can't blame yourself for things you had no knowledge of."
"We'll find a way. We always do. She already had a good idea of what she'd need. We'll start there. One step at a time."
He looked into her eyes, and knew she was right. They couldn't let something like this happen again. "Then we'll use this experience as a lesson. I'll increase patrols, have Astrid scout for any blind spots we may have. I don't have magic, but let me know if I can be of any help, alright?"
"Kiara. It's going to be okay. We got lucky this time, all things considered. Something like this? It won't happen again. But you won't have to shoulder this on your own. We'll all pitch in and help strengthen our clan."

PĂşca mischief and magic switch (closed starter)
The house was coming along great. Ash balanced on the roof as he laid the boards. His brothers were around him helping with the building’s exterior. Ash had chosen a piece of land more towards the outside of the Viking village but an easy walk to the chief’s hut. And a much easy walk for the people to get to Lyra than Gothi’s hut. Ash’s chest warmed at the thought. Lyra would be the main village healer one day. A high honor.
“Hey! Stop day dreaming lover boy.” His eldest brother, Talon, nudged him. With an eye roll he got back to work. His other two brothers, Finn and Rhys, had returned through his circle carrying carpets and more wood for the roof. Soon they’d be able to work on the inside.
“Hey! Dad needs all of us back for a meeting! That means you too, Ashy! We’ll come back after.” That… was annoying. But fae councils were serious if all the court was needed. The two hopped off the roof with help from their magic.
Little did they know that a pĂşca had snuck its way through the open circle. Taking the form of a wolf at first it snuck into the forest. Watching the faes work. The creature waited for the perfect time to cause trouble. As the brothers left through the circle they closed it. The pĂşca changed shape again. A black cat with gold eyes stalked into the village. The feline making its way towards the next grouping of magic.
Lyra and Hiccup came into view. Looks like the two had been heading towards the new home. The pĂşca could feel the power surrounding her. With a purr the cat rubbed up against her leg, causing her to stop.
“Aw, look at you! You’re so pretty.” Lyra picked the cat up and cradled it in her arms.
“Do you know who he belongs to, Hiccup? I don’t think I’ve seen this one around before.” She turned so her brother could pet the cat too. But as soon as Hiccup’s hand made contact with the sleek fur both he and Lyra were struck with pain like being struck by lightning. Lyra fell to her knees as the waves of electric shock went through her limbs. The cat jumping away and shifting into a more goblin like form. It cackled at the two in pain before running off.
As the agony faded away, Lyra found herself shaking. Her body felt heavy and tired and… sore? She blinked in confusion. The earth was oddly silent too. She… she couldn’t sense the magic around her anymore! Wait.. Hiccup! Hiccup was hurt too!
“Hiccup? Are you okay?” She’d worry about herself after. That… thing had zapped her brother.

No one had ever dared to get so comfortable with her as Annie was, and Rebekah would never admit how much she loved that Annie wasn't afraid of her in the slightest.
She kissed her girlfriend back slowly, savoring the taste of her lips. "Mmmm, it does sound fun," Rebekah purred. "And when you're a vampire, too, you'll have no more excuses."
Rebekah raised an eyebrow and smiled slowly. "Oh? You think you did that well, do you? Awfully sure of yourself." Even as she teased her, Rebekah slid a hand up Annie's dress, between her legs. "And what sort of reward were you thinking? Jewelry, perhaps?"
Fresh after an orgasm, with a beautiful girl on her knees and between Rebekah's legs, looking up at her like this was exactly where she wanted to be. . . Rebekah didn't think she'd ever been happier than she was in this moment. I don't deserve you, Rebekah thought.
"Be careful what you say, love," she warned with a smirk. "I may just keep you there all night so you can perfect the art of making a woman climax."
