Fic Writer’s 20 Questions!

Thank you so much @whatwouldvalerydo for tagging me in this game - the original post was getting very long so I thought I would post separately.

How many works do you have on A03?

What fandoms do you write for?

Harry Potter, including spin offs

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

The first five Hexley Saga stories, though not in order. In descending order it goes: Mystery, Portrait, Figures, Forest, Staircase.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do, because I appreciate every comment I receive. I am slow to respond, because I don’t always see them when it’s convenient to reply, and then I forget what I have or haven’t replied to. I’m very disorganised.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’m not sure if any have truly angsty endings, I tend to like my angst mixed with happiness and humour for something bittersweet. In that vein, maybe Into the Light of the Dark Black Night. However, The Wilderness Years ends on an open and not overly optimistic note.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Again, not many have a wholly happy ending… Probably the Hexley Saga, though there is a touch of sadness even to that.

Do you get hate on fics?

I haven’t done, no. I’ve had readers (understandably) drop out after one specific character death, but no actual hate for it. I guess there’s a first time for everything.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I have done, once or twice. I’m not good at it. As for what type… Bad smut? Awkward smut? Idk, I’m just too British for this.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

… I’m not even 100% sure what this is so I’m going to say no.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

A touchy subject. No, I haven’t, but I have had and occasionally continue to have issues with aspects of my stories being taken and put into others’ works in ways that have made it obvious that it isn’t a coincidence, but not in ways that I have felt justified in reporting plagiarism on any publishing sites. I have, however, learnt how the Tumblr block button can come in handy.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

No. When in France this spring I considered translating the Hexley Saga into French to help me get my language skills back up but I quickly realised how much work this would be and decided against it.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes - When Stars Ignite was (and still is) a collaboration between me and @lifeofkaze. It was (and still is) an amazing experience and massive learning curve.

What’s your all time favorite ship?

Forever Gomez and Morticia Addams.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Whichever one I’m currently writing - I get to the point in every long form story that I think I’ll never finish it. So far, I’ve proved myself wrong.

What are your writing strengths?

Generally: I’m dedicated and very deliberate in my approach. For every single choice I make in my writing, I have a rationality behind it. There is a lot of method in my madness. Also, when I get the wind in my sails, I’m speedy.

Technically: characterisation, humour, emotionality, dialogue.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Generally: good old impostor syndrome and being an incredibly disorganised person.

Technically: action scenes, angst, smut.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Ahh, this is awkward. I actually… am not a massive fan of this. Before you call me a hypocrite (which is a fair criticism here), I think foreign language dialogue is great when it works, but when it’s not done right, it’s completely alienating for a reader and can ruin the story. And it’s hard to get right. So, although I do use it, I don’t enjoy using it, because involves so much work and causes so much anxiety.

My rule when I do use it is that it has to add an extra layer of meaning and enjoyment for people who do understand it or want to look up the translation without taking away from the meaning and enjoyment of people who don’t. I have broken this rule once, because sometimes it’s fun to break the rules, and because I wanted to alienate my readers. I’m actually really proud of the effect it created, so here is a link to this rule-breaking.

First fandom you wrote for?

Jill Murphy’s The Worst Witch, circa 2001.

Favorite fic you’ve written?

That’s a mean question. The answer is probably On This Wild Night, but that one isn’t published yet, so I’m going to choose a few. Figures in the Shadows, because it was the first one where I first felt like my style came naturally to me, Eggshells because it was the first one created in a moment of inspiration, When Stars Ignite because of the friendship that was strengthened in the writing process, Learning to Fly because Charlie Weasley, and Return to the Riddles, because finishing the Hexley Saga was such an achievement and the culmination of two years of hard work that I really hope paid off.

I write Nemesis and Jill boning a lot. For the plot, supposedly. Been doing so forever ago. What are you? An immortal sentient tentacle who moonlights as a jaded fandom old. Why is...this? Because I want to see more Nemesis/Jill content, and it’s a bitch to find. Also, after years of putting off even joining Tumblr, I wanna share my AU and keep this crack ship alive. Maybe even fanwank on my thoughts about Toll and Onery or even on Jill, the long-suffering bad bitch that Cap keeps forgetting has a compelling storyline right there. The Forgotten - Chapter 8 'In Which A Name's Recalled & There's A New Arrival'

The BeanBean Kingdom has lived peacefully for centuries, due to the wild ocean and towering mountains that surround them. No one being able to get in or out. Which makes it strange when a stranger enters the kingdom, but not in an expected way.

Close to death and with little memories about his previous life, Peasley has to uncover where this 'L' came from. As well as who would want to hurt this confused human.

It was so quiet.

The only thing L could hear was his furiously beating of his heart. The further he traveled into the hallway, the more L was internally screaming at himself to go back to the celebration.

But that person…he knew them…

It was an unfamiliar recognition…

But he knew them…

Right?

Where were they?

A chuckle sounded from behind. L sharply turned to find the stranger now blocking his way back to the brightly lit party. Glasses on the other seemed to glint sharply in the darkness, even with the limited light. They were now holding a wand, having the gemmed tip hitting their other palm lightly in a steady rhythm. A large smirk still on their face.

L felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He needed to run… But he also needed answers. This was possibly the first person who could possibly know anything about his past.

“Who are you?” He asked. Slightly surprised, his voice was steady.

The stranger didn’t respond. Instead the wand was stilled and moved so that it acted more as a cane now.

“I asked a question, who are you?”

That caused another chuckle. “My my… You did lose your memories and apparently replaced them with courage. Or perhaps you’re just better at putting on a brave face because you don’t remember.”

“You…know me.” L tensed as the stranger stepped forward. Remaining in place as they began to circle him.

“I really am shocked and a little upset to see you here. You are such a strange human with a weird amount of luck. How you survived after all of that, it is just…surprising.”

The warning whispers were now screaming, telling L he needed to run. Only for the new issue to arise of his legs not wanting to move. The stranger was behind him once more. L could make a break for it right now, nothing was standing in his way. He could get back to the crowd. Tell Peasley there was an intruder.

If he could just move!

“I honestly thought it would have ended with you needing to be saved. Either because you were too cowardly to try anything. Or, and the more likely guess, because you were too injured to move.”

They cackled again, it held a dangerous undertone. “But I seem to keep making the same, stupid mistake with you! That level of tenacity you humans seem to have.”

“T-This is an…interesting conversation,” L attempted to voice over the other, “But I don’t know you. So what you’re saying really doesn’t-”

“It was such an ill placed storm that led to your escape. I blame that wretched ability of yours. Although it did provide the location of your current whereabouts. But my King was absolutely beside himself with rage when he lost his favorite…plaything.”

Run.

Run!

Find Peasley and run!

Feelings returning to his legs, L launched himself forwards. Stumbling over himself as he tried to put as much distance between himself and the other as quickly as possible. It amounted to nothing when L was suddenly lifted off the ground. There were a few seconds of wondering how this was happening before he was slammed against the wall. Slightly dazed, L let out a choked gasp as pressure was applied around his neck.

Hands frantically reaching up…only to find nothing there.

L’s arms were suddenly forced down at his side. The pressure around his neck increased. Only able to kick his legs in desperation, L fearfully watched as the stranger moved to stand before him. The smirk now a wide, manic smile. The ruby gem encrusted into the wand was glowing vividly.

“How an annoying pest like you could cause so much trouble is beyond me. You just had to stay still. You were built to be bait, nothing more! Mario was supposed to fall into our trap!” The stranger let out a shaky breath, as if taking a moment to calm themselves.

“But…water under the bridge, yes? A clean new slate if you will. Not only does my King get his favorite stress toy back, but now he has a new kingdom to conquer! You have delivered us more to break than just that red-capped idiot’s spirit. More than I could have hoped for.”

L couldn’t help but whimper, moved away from the wall to kneel on the floor. The perfect height to have the stranger look him dead in the eye.

“This happy, little life of yours is going to burn to the ground. Right before your eyes. And I want you to know that it’s all your fault.”

L winced as a clawed hand gently patted his cheek. The other leaning forward in to whisper,

“Lord Bowser sends his regards, Luigi.”

Something seemed to snap in L’s mind.

A large battle. Being separated from another human who was wearing a red cap. Shoved into a small cage where he can only sit up. The creature, Bowser, torturing and tormenting him. The stranger, Kamek, causing hallucinations and nightmares that broke his mind. Days of being curled on his side with stabbing pain of hunger. Falling to a point where all he could do was lay on whatever flat surface he had been placed on.

“L!”

He let out a shaky gasp as he was snapped back to reality. The intruder was gone. He was lying on his side, tears falling, unable to move. Peasley was kneeling before him. Hands up, as if wanting to reach out, to help, but didn’t know what to do. A few knights were positioned behind the prince, looking just as worried.

L was slowly moved to sit up, leaning against the wall. Still unresponsive to Peasley’s calls and pleas. The human seemed unaware as to where he was.

“L? …L, darling, please, you need to talk to me.”

Peasley felt like he was beginning to lose it. He’d lost sight of L, returning to the table the human had been at only to find him gone. Asking nearby goers if they had seen L, which resulted in shaking heads and confused looks.

Peasley felt his heart stop hearing L’s scream. Attention snapping to the entryway that they had crossed through together hours ago. Rushing off, sword drawn, unaware as a few knights following close behind. Finding L collapsed, in a small pile on the floor, unresponsive to Peasley’s calls. No one else was around, L didn’t seem physically hurt. But something about this was wrong.

Moving cautiously, Peasley gently took the human’s hands. Worried when L still didn’t respond. “L… I need you to come back to me please…”

Eventually, the fog seemed to lift from L’s eyes. Both flickering up from the ground and landing on Peasley. His shoulders seemed to relax further as he also realized where he was.

“...Peasley?”

“Hey, L, yes it’s me. A-Are you okay? What happened? Are you hurt?” The prince asked desperately. Hand reaching up to cradle L’s face.

“I know my name.”

Peasley froze at that. “You…what?”

“I know my name.”

It was a cross between joy and fear. Because what could have possibly happened to cause such a negative reaction but also recall such an important detail?

Peasley attempted to offer a small smile. “T-That’s great! But you… You didn’t answer if you were okay.”

The prince leaned back slightly as L shifted. The human moving to kneel before Peasley with a look of absolute panic. Eyes filled with fear connecting with Peasley’s

“My name…is Luigi…and I think… I think we’re in danger.”

The castle had never been cleared so quickly.

A warning had been sent out. Asking all to remain in groups and trying to remain calm. A rise to arms was also announced. Capable and trained citizens asked to help their knight in patrolling.

L, or Luigi, had been moved to his room. Peasley remained close. Either giving orders from right outside the open door or by cracking the door slightly. Otherwise, Peasley was pacing the room. Hand gripping the handle of the sword as he glared at the ground. On his part, Luigi had fallen quiet after giving his statement. About Kamek, about Bowser, about what he could recall. None of it was good and it made Pealey’s stomach churn in fear.

Upon arriving at the room, Luigi had kicked off his shoes and crawled onto the bed. Curling on his side and facing the window. Remaining quiet as the hours passed. The sky started to become brighter as the morning arrived. Peasley eventually found his way to the bed to lay down as well. Shoes tossed aside and sword resting next to him.

“We’ll find something,” Peasley spoke to the ceiling, “...I am furious. How dare someone just waltz in here as if they belonged here. Threaten you… There’s no reason for it. These people are dangerous, they need to be stopped. If they think that-”

“I’m sorry…”

Luigi’s voice was quiet, but it hit Peasley heavily in the chest. The prince almost gave himself whiplash with how quickly he turned to look at Luigi. Who hadn’t moved. Peasley shifted so he was leaning over the other, Luigi unable to look him in the eye.

“You have nothing to be sorry for.” Peasley gently argued back.

“But I brought them here. All of this is happening because I…I tried to handle everything. I thought I could escape and get away. All it did was endanger you and your wonderful kingdom. I was just bait for…for this Mario guy…”

Peasely tried to offer some comfort by running his fingers through Luigi’s hair. “Do you remember him now?”

“...No…I just remember…the cage…and every bad thing I experienced with it. Maybe I should have stayed.”

“L…L-Luigi, you don’t mean that-”

“But then you wouldn’t have-” Luigi let out a yelp as he was rolled onto his back. Flushing darkly as Peasley knelt directly over him, looking upset. “P-Peasley.”

“None of this is your fault. You are more of a victim than anyone here. All of this are just events that neither of us had any control over. None of that changes the fact that I feel so lucky to have met you.”

“...You don’t know me though.”

“I don’t care! The you that I do know is a wonderful person who I…I couldn’t imagine not having in my life. I care so much about you. I hate hearing you talk about yourself like this.”

“...I’m sorry, I’m just scared…”

“I am too. But you have me and the rest of the kingdom here to help.”

Luigi gave a small laugh. “Really wish I had your confidence.”

“...Do you trust me?”

“Of course.”

“And I trust you. I need you to believe when I say that everything will be okay.”

“...Okay, I will.”

Peasley smiles, leaning further over to claim a gentle kiss. “How about we get some sleep?”

“I’m not sure if I can.”

“You will, I’m pretty certain of it. I’m certainly dead on my feet right now.”

“Poor choice of words.”

“Sorry.”

Grabbing a free blanket, Peasley draped it over the both of them. Pulling Luigi close, allowing him to rest his head on the prince’s chest. Sure enough, it only took a few minutes before the human fell asleep. Arms loosely wrapped around Peasley as he drifted off.

Despite what he’s said, Peasley couldn’t find sleep that easily. Attempting to calm himself as he stared up at the canopy. Fingers going back to gently brush through Luigi’s hair. His mind frantically ran through every situation it could create. Waiting for the door to be suddenly flung open. Either from his knights or from intruders.

He tensed when Luigi mumbled something weakly. Shifting until he was tucked under Peasley’s chin. Stress seemed to melt, Peasley pulling the other closer. Eyes finally closing.

Allowing sleep to pull him down…

“Prince Peasley!”

Eyes snapping open, Peasley felt his heartbeat skyrocket as he sat up. Luigi looked just as dazed and confused as Peasley felt. Attention was drawn to the door when it was violently knocked on. Both were up the next second, Peasley reaching the door first and flung it open.

The sight that greeted him was one of absolute destruction. Two knights standing right outside, looking fearful. Screams and cries of panic sounding from beyond the cracked and broken windows. The sound filled with pains from the attack from an unknown assailant. Already drawing a conclusion as to what was happening, Pealsey drew his sword and grabbed Luigi’s hand.

“Stay close,” Peasley said to Luigi before addressing the knights, “Weapons high, we’re treating any intruder as hostile. Stay with Luigi.”

There was a quiet agreement.

Peasley took the lead as he rushed off towards the entrance. The first scare occurred when he found Queen Bean. Single-handedly fighting off a horde of bi-pedal shelled creatures, who were carrying spears, with ease.

Peasley was unable to call out before his mother shouted at him to keep running. Knowing he had to follow this order, even as fear bubbled in his stomach. So Peasley turned and took his small group to the entrance. Outside was so far worse than what the prince had imagined. There was destruction everywhere, buildings were gone, Beanish people were fleeing from the attackers, fires engulfing so much. The sky had become a dark red with black clouds.

Hovering ominously in the darkened sky was an absolutely terrifying structure. A floating fortress that had multiple streams of lava pouring from it. Heavy chains had lowered spiked balls to the ground that crushed whatever they had landed on.

Peasley attempted to push past the fear that threatened to swallow him. Focusing on trying to get Luigi out of there before the human could be spotted. Or worse, taken.

Turning to the knight, Peasley quickly stated. “We need to get to Hoohoo Village and hide him there.”

Luigi felt as if he wanted to argue this. But fell quiet at Peasley’s hard stare and nodded as well. Their escape, however, wasn’t possible.

All flinched as a horn sounded from above them. A winged shelled creature hovering a few feet over them. Calling out a ‘Down here!’ while pointing directly at Luigi. Peasley wasted no time in grabbing Luigi’s hand again and rushing off. Knowing their escape was going to be that much harder, if not impossible. But he had to try.

The knight fell first. Acting as a barrier when the first wave of attackers hit them. Luigi let out a worried cry but Peasley just kept pushing forward. Only to be blocked by another wall. The prince was able to push through an opening, calling out a ‘Run!’ before raising his sword. While Peasley was a skillful fighter, he wasn’t able to hold such a large group off.

His sword was eventually knocked from his hands and forced to his knees, his arms pinned behind his back. Head forced up with a number of spears directed at his neck.

Luigi had stumbled when he’d been pushed forward. Standing straight just to watch as Peasley was taken down. Heart leaping into his throat as spears were pointed at the prince. “Peasley!”

“Just run Luigi!” Peasley called out, desperately trying to break free.

But he didn’t move. Heart racing, Luigi attempted to figure out some sort of solution. Only to jump when sparks discharged from his finger. Realizing he did have a way to fight back. Closing his eyes as he concentrated on building up enough energy. Attempting to push Peasley’s pleas for him to run to the back of his mind to focus.

He could do it. He knew he could. He just needed to-

The ground suddenly shook. Causing Luigi to gasp and fall to his knees, his concentration breaking. Head moving back up, his heart falling apart seeing the fearful look Peasley now had. Luigi tensed further when heavy footsteps drew closer to where he was kneeling. A shadow falling over him, warm breath washing over his back.

He felt like he was going to throw up.

“Come now Greenie. Don’t you know how to greet an old friend?”

No, no, no, not that voice, please, he can’t go back-

Luigi was shaking so hard, he felt like he was going to faint at any moment. Having to remain sitting as his legs completely gave out upon seeing the yellow eyes glaring down at him. The large creature giving a deep chuckle upon seeing the fear on Luigi’s face

“There you are. I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve missed that fearful look. I would ask if you missed me…but I know that mind of yours isn’t working well right now.”

Luigi couldn’t help but wince as a claw tapped the top of his head.

“Don’t you dare touch him!” Peasley demanded, only to be forced back into place.

Luigi turned, going to stand to help Peasley, only for a hand to slam him into the ground. Left dazed, he couldn’t fight back as he was flung to the side. Landing hard on the ground and skidding to a halt. Shaking weakly as he got himself back onto his knees.

“I would worry about yourself right now Green Stache,” Bowser growled dangerously, watching with narrowed eyes. Smirking as Luigi brought a shaky hand up to brush blood away from his eyes that was pouring from a gash on his forehead. “I really want to know where you have the audacity to run away like that. Was I not accommodating to you?”

Luigi weakly shook his head. “Y-You… You almost killed me…”

“You left before we could heal you again. You really are selfish. Honestly, I was just happy to keep this destruction between us. But you just had to pull an innocent kingdom into our fight? Look at the damage you’ve brought…”

Luigi winced as a large hand easily wrapped around his entire form. The thumb used to lift the human’s chin, forcing him to see the falling kingdom. The crumbling buildings, the numerous fires, the Beanish citizens collected into fearful crowds with weapons directed at them. Peasley and Queen Bean forced onto their knees to watch.

“This is all your fault.” Bowser hissed. Pulling his hand away to allow Luigi to collapse. Peasley desperately wanted to call out, to assure the human that the Koopa was wrong. But the spears piercing his skin kept him still.

“Luckily for you, I’m feeling very generous,” Bowser continues, “We’ll make a deal. You come back with me, quietly, no fighting, and I’ll the kingdom as it is.”

Luigi looked up hopefully at that. “Y-You’ll leave them alone?”

“Of course! I’m a Koolpa of my word. You come back with me and I’ll just leave.”

Luigi’s eyes traveled downwards in thought before shifting them towards Peasley. Whose eyes were wide with fear. Doing all he could to convey to not leave with Bowser. Luigi felt his heart break as he watched tears fall down Peasley’s face. As if the prince knew what the other was thinking.

Taking a deep breath, Luigi lowered his eyes once more so as to not watch Peasley break further.

“Okay,” Luigi weakly voiced, “I’ll go with you.”

“Luigi, no!” Peasley desperately called out, getting a punch to his stomach.

“Wonderful!” Bowser smirked before turning to Kamek, “Will you help make our guest’s trip back comfortable?”

“Of course, Lord Bowser” Kamek casually waved his wand. Luigi let out a small gasp as the same blue magic from before lifted him off the ground.

“Excellent. How about one more look for prosperity sake… All good? Good.”

Luigi could only watch in horror as Bowser unleashed a torrent of flames from his mouth. The front of the castle was soon drowned in flames. Cries of fear and despair sounded as the building started to crumble and melt from the heat. Even as Bowser finished, the fire continued to spread.

Bowser growled to Kamek. “We’re heading back. The troops will handle the rest.”

“You said you’d leave them alone!” Luigi screamed, tears flowing.

“And we are. My troops are taking care of what’s left behind. You should be better at listening.”

Peasley could only watch as Luigi was easily whisked away. Up to the floating fortress. Panic rising as the human cried out the prince’s name desperately. Peasley tried to break away from the hold over him. He hears his mother break free. Her cries of pain as she was attacked beating against Peasley’s already broken heart. Hanging his head in absolute defeat. Lost on what he should do, what could he do?

Peasley’s head snapped back up when a cold wind hit the area hard. Eyes wide as the surrounding minions let out fearful and panicked cries. Some even let him go to escape from whatever was happening. Peasley knocked away those who stayed, using the upper hand of the sudden shock to break away and grab his sword.

The prince stumbles as Queen Bean suddenly appears next to him.

“Peasley-”

“I-I’m fine. But what’s happening?”

“We have a new guest.”

Peasley turned to where his mother’s attention was and his mouth dropped open. Another human, dressed in blue overall with a red long sleeved shift and a red cap resting on his head, was handling the minions with ease. Producing both fire balls and, after crushing a light blue flower, ice balls to knock the attacker away. The ice even being used to douse the flames that had been burning the castle away. He would jump, actually jump, onto the bi-pedal creatures and use their shells to topple others over.

The sword in hand lowered as the small group of remaining minions ran off. Peasley absolutely floored that a single being could handle so much on their own. His amazement broke hearing footsteps quickly drawing closer. Turning to find the knight who had carried the letter to the Mushroom Kingdom now panting before him.

“Y-Your Highness,” they offered a shaky salute, “I h-have returned. May I i-introduce…the Hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario.”

Peasley felt like something horrible lurched in his stomach. “Mario…you mean…”

The prince winced when the new human approached. Mario, who Peasley realized carried similar features as Luigi, looked between the prince and Queen Bean. Taking a deep breath before offering a bow.

Standing up before weakly saying, “I…I’m going to assume… I was too late, wasn’t I… Bowser has Luigi…”

Peasely could hear the underline shake in Mario’s voice. Realizing how broken the human sounded. Which shattered whatever stable stand the prince had. Putting his sword away, Peasley knelt and bowed his head low.

“I’m sorry… I couldn’t keep my word…”

Aight I’m doing it, gonna explore some of my VERY OLD writing, the first “books” I ever wrote. Gonna use the tag ‘my old writing’ for this if ya wanna block it, but anyway it is time for me to reminisce >:) I’ll probably devote a post to each book I decide to post pics of, and I’ll likely do a format where the cover page will be in the main post, and the rest under a read more. Now without further ado…

ah yes. The label on the shoe box I kept all these in. Love how I wrote this as if it would actually stop anyone from opening it

Ahh gotta love that old school Microsoft Office clipart. Anyway it is time to open the box and select my first victim

OH I forgot I also used this much later on to store letters that were written to me in basic training (gently moves those aside)

…I’ve made a fatal error, this box doesn’t have my most ancient stories, it has ones from slightly later on in my childhood. NOO where is my Charmander and Torchic story!! Ah well I may have to delay this adventure until I rescue the early stories from my storage unit, but for now. This will do.

Once upon a time (probably before 2008 but idk when exactly) my older brother made the fatal mistake of revealing to me that people will actually go on the Internet and just post weird lil stories :O Like they’ll just write something funny. And post it. And other people can read it. Wow!

Naturally, I wanted to try it, and came up with a really ridiculous idea about giant weiner (or wiener, I kept changing the spelling) dogs that ended up morphing into a multi-story saga where it turned out the giant dogs are actually ALIENS and Earth ends up destroyed, also it features me and my older brother as self-inserts which he thought was GREAT. The best thing? None of this actually made it onto the Internet but I sure did print out the whole dang story, make a cover, and then tie it all together with nice gold thread. More under the cut

I just wanted to post the full first page so y’all can get an idea of the ridiculousness of my early writing. I was probably like. Actually I don’t think I was even 10 yet. Or maybe I was? Ehh about 10, maybe a little older but I’m relatively sure I wasn’t a teen yet. My brother helped contribute parts of this (like the strange, funky business part) but most of this was written by me.

As you can see the gross out humor is in full effect. Of course. As I was a young child who watched Nickelodeon. Moving on

I promise there was context to all this. My self insert (Kari, of course) and the guy from the start, Joe, got to go to Kibblion and we inexplicably turned into alien weiner dogs ourselves. I think I handwaved this as “radiation”

My brother (Chris) got to be the villain who also survived Earth’s destruction and he had psychic powers just because.

the weiner dogs have a thing in their society about not eating animals unless they’re dangerous ones, hence them pulling bullshit like “oh this animal is tasty but not a threat? Oh- we’ll make it dangerous then :)”

Other names are just other random characters, mostly weiner dogs. but uhh yeah. There you go

the random shit I wrote back then. I promise I’ll dig out the truly old stuff but ohh my god looking back at this series was so funny. Maybe I could transcribe it all and post it to AO3. I already did that with some other old stories of mine which can be found here so. HmMM >:)

Of course and sure thing. Oh damn, that’s so horrible. I was actually kind of spoiled about the events as well, not in what happened exactly but that it did happen since at the time of the chapter’s release I was away on holiday with my mum’s side of the family and I usually don’t bother to block the tag since most spoilers are something I can scroll past and they’re usually not too big since I read it every week but yeah, I saw something referring to what happened in that chapter and gods that hurt so we both unfortunately had to deal with it being spoiled, though with you it’s obviously much worse. And yay. Looking forward to hearing all your thoughts on everything that happened if you want to share it all. Oh, there really aren’t many chapters of Persona 3. I see. I also hope you don’t have to stay late and I’m glad to hear that you have another day off tomorrow. I see. Can imagine that being quit annoying. You calling caffeine god is amazing. And wow. How long does it take you to get through a pot? If you don’t mind answering. I managed to write a few points about the things that stood out luckily so yay to that. Oh damn, he really does look like Lavi from D. Gray-Man. And I see. That’s nice to know. Sure thing. I finished the last season of Demon Slayer that’s out now so I’ll probably be getting to it soon. Yeah, which is really understandable since A:TLA is just such an amazing series in so many ways. Of course and glad to hear you adored Zuko and true to his redemption arc. And I can’t blame you for Sokka being your first initial favourite since I also really like him and like every time he tells one of his silly jokes, I laughed so he’s definitely someone fun to have around.

Yeah, the Demon Slayer manga is just 205 chapters long. And the fact that it’s so short and still tells such an amazing story is yet another reason as to why I love it so much. Yeah. Like the final arc consists of two mini-arcs, one of 47 chapters and the last one is 22 chapters long, so it would entirely be possible to split it up since the last arcs that they adapted were like 30 chapters long, but I actually do presume that they won’t since the first season of Demon Slayer put all of the mini arcs of the first main arc into the season. And I honestly don’t mind what they do since I’ll always be looking forward to whatever there is of it. So I presume we’ll probably just have a longish last season, but I’m up for anything, as long as it’s adapted well. Okay. Cool. And I did and I was just like constantly fangirling and at times I couldn’t tell whether it’s because I was enjoying the sound of his voice or because what his character, Genya, was doing because he’s just such a precious boy. Thank you for saying that. He actually has a small first appearance in the fifth episode of the first season and then he’s gone and doesn’t properly appear until The Swordsmith Village Arc.

Thank you. It’s wild since I usually don’t forget things entirely so it’s a whole new experience for me. But the fact that it happened so early does help it make sense. Yeah. Though later on, there is this arc in Fairy Tail called ‘Key of the Starry Heavens arc’ and it is entirely filler but it’s still really enjoyable to watch. Gods, that’s me with Lawless’s song. And I see. I’m not sure about the Beyblade that you watched, but the Metal Saga series does have the opening song translated like that as well. The fact that Iruma is very musical does sound very nice. Of course it’s adorable. And now I’m looking even more forward to seeing it but I’ll still wait until I’m done with everything else I have to do and watch.

Yeah, true. Like I think the movie does but from what I’ve heard / seen, the movie concentrates more on the characters themselves than the actual match which makes no sense because both are really important. And yeah, it definitely did. Like this match that was adapted is 34 chapters long and when the movie was first announced, people were talking about how it’d have to be a 5 hour long movie for all of that to be properly adapted. And the thing is, the saddest thing of all is that we’re not even sure we’ll be getting another season. There were two movies set to be released, so this one and another one that will come out who knows when, and the initial poster to advertise it was ‘Haikyū!! Final’ which just does not sound great so now me and other Haikyuu!! fans are hoping that the studio will use all the money they got from the ticket sales and other stuff to make a proper fifth season. Sure thing 💕 Hell yeah and Hinata has such an amazing moment at the beginning of the second season that people still referrer to to this day. I see. That makes sense. But yeah, none of the Haikyuu!! babies are one-note and that’s just another great thing about the series. And yes to all those things of you describing him.

Me too but it’s really difficult because she’s not very good at seeing the wrong in her ways. Like say if I were to tell her about it, she’d get so offended and she thinks she’s in the right for saying what she did. Yes, the fighting style really is. Like it is hinted at in the opening, but it’s nothing compared to seeing it in action and it’s just so cool 😭 And yes, be excited about him. I love the Shinazugawa brothers, what more can I say. Oooh. That sounds like such a lovely flavour. And that makes perfect sense. I hope you and your friend had a wonderful time together. Oh and that does sound like a good idea since then it’s all nicely together.

I’m so sorry to hear you got spoiled on that as well! I can definitely get not blocking the tag – I just did it because I know that if I see a spoiler, I’m going to read it instead of scrolling past, just because I can’t resist that temptation, haha! It sucks though that you got spoiled like that on such a big reveal, because I can imagine how much impact it would have had for people who didn’t know it was coming! And you know, it’s funny, because I’m as caught up as my manga app had (up to Chapter 254), but I don’t really have a lot of thoughts on it. I feel like the story is an absolutely brilliant one, the author is an insanely gifted technical writer because his use of things like foreshadowing and visual storytelling is gorgeous. I feel like I have solid grasps on the characters enough to write them; I know quite a few people excited to have me write them, so I’m going to. Overall, I very much enjoy the story and am excited to see how the rest of the story plays out to it’s ending, which is very close obviously. The writer’s storytelling has been well-paced for the most part, there’s little unnecessary drag or tangents, I’m going to be surprised if the series is still going active in even December of this year. I figure by early fall, absolutely latest, it’s ending with it being weekly. However, I can’t say I’ve fallen in love with this one like I have some of the other fandoms. Comparing my love for say, Servamp, K Project, or KHR and my love for Jujutsu Kaisen – my love for Jujutsu Kaisen is the little, tiny plastic cup you get to take your medicine with and the love for those other series is the big bottle of medicine. Again, the creator is absolutely a gifted storyteller. I fully believe they’ve known a least a full half an arc to a full arc ahead of where the story was currently what was going to happen, and I have zero doubts whatsoever that they’ve had at least a couple ideas as to an ending since the beginning and have a full, clear view of how everything’s ending now. Their world is well-built and constructed, their power-sets well figured out. They’re a tight writer with great focus and there are parts of their writing and visual storytelling that I wish I was even 1/10th as good at as a writer. However, I always kind of feel like JJK is very much a case of the story driving the characters and not the characters driving the story. When it comes to the JJK characters, I very much do feel like they were all created because the creator needed a character to advance the story or to fill an essential role in the story and that when it came to creating them, their characters were built around what role they needed to play and what they needed to accomplish so they feel less to me like real, actual people like some characters from other media and more like…just characters. Don’t get me wrong here, because both types of storytelling and character creation are entirely valid and both can be exceptionally well-done. JJK is a prime example of story-driven media done exceptionally well, if not completely brilliantly (because let’s remember, at the bottom of story-driven media, we have things like Twilight, which is that type of storytelling done exceptionally poorly). But I feel like most people are drawn more to one type of story-telling process than the other and I’m just more overall compelled by character-driven storytelling so JJK is in that ‘technically brilliant, I really enjoy it, but can’t get obsessed with it like some others can’ field.

Anyway, now that I’ve probably infuriated or offended some of the JJK fans, onto the rest of the message, haha! There really aren’t that many chapters of any of the Persona manga that I’ve found, so I’m kind of hoping that they’re all just really sort manga and that I’m not reading incomplete ones! And thank you for the well-wishes for the day off. Unfortunately, I had impromptu plans sprung on me that day that ate up most of my day, which made me a little cranky, not going to lie. I’m doing all I can to keep with commission timelines though, even with Etsy and real life…might require some burning of the midnight oil, but I’m holding up and doing well 😊 Yeah, caffeine is the god I worship, haha, as someone who isn’t overly religious. I don’t usually go through a pot that quickly though. Most mornings, I make the standard 12-cup pot around 6:30 and keep it on warm until I finish it around noonish. That day though, gone in about three hours, give or take. It’s not even keeping me awake so much anymore, thanks to having such a high caffeine tolerance, it’s more to keep away the migraines and because I find coffee soothing and sometimes, all I need is a short break to make a cup of coffee, just move and have a moment away from the computer to get the next burst of inspiration for what to write next. I’m excited to read those then! And I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw the resemblance then, even if it’s been a dog’s age since I actually watched or read D. Gray-Man. I wonder if that series ever wrapped up…things for later Dee to look up, I think! Speaking of Demon Slayer though, I paused everything else I was watching because I got in the mood to watch that. So I’m done the first season and the Mugen Train movie. However, when I go to the next season, it’s a really short season that just looks like the movie? I need to figure out if Crunchyroll just screwed up and put the movie into episodes or if those Mugen Train episodes are actually episodes or not, so I need to Google that too. Just every time I sit down at the computer, I get to working on creating playlists and storyboards for all the commissions instead of googling that, haha. I’m really enjoying it so far, though I’m pissed at the movies ending, because I thought I finally found a character that would be my favourite and then it was like the anime decided to just be laugh and be like ‘ha, fuck you’ lmao. I’m excited to continue it, just need to clear that up first! And Avatar is just incredible. I hope everyone has at least given it a try, and if any of my readers haven’t, please go check it out. You won’t be disappointed you did, I promise 😊 Sokka was definitely my initial favourite because of the comic relief, though I remember really liking Toph after her introduction too!

It still amazes me that the author was able to tell a complete and full story of the magnitude that Demon Slayer seems to be setting it’s story up in that few of chapters. It must have been very well-paced and without any extras then! I wish I could find the manga to read, though I am very much enjoying the anime (and to answer before the question is asking, I am watching the dub because it makes it so much quicker to watch). Thank you for explaining that and it’s really neat that the final arc was divided like that! I wonder if they’ll do a season for the first mini-arc then and a final movie to end it all, because that might be interesting if they do. I really enjoyed the first movie, felt it moved along well and was mostly well done (my biggest complaint about Demon Slayer so far is that sometimes the CGI is super noticeable and visually jarring and fuck me, were those CGI train tentacles something else and entirely unpleasant visually in that movie). I haven’t got to see much more of Genya other than Selection, where obviously you weren’t seeing the best of him. In fact, he was pretty damn easy to hate in that episode but still interested me, so I’m looking forward to re-encountering him in The Swordsmith Village Arc.

No problem, of course 😊 And I feel like a lot of the Bleach filler arcs were very forgettable, so I wouldn’t worry any! I definitely haven’t seen that particular filler arc of Fairy Tail, or if I have, I forgot it entirely, but I will check it out when I do a Fairy Tail reread! Thanks for the heads up on that! You know, I hadn’t thought about that, but I’m pretty sure the Beyblade I watched had an English opening song too, come to think of it! It’s been a real long time since I watched it, though it’s in my rewatch list (along with Digimon Adventures and Yu-Gi-Oh!, like the child I am, haha!). Yay, I’m excited for when you eventually get around to it 😊 And that sounds like a movie that I would absolutely adore, since I do love me some character focus, but if that was the only adaption the match got and it was an important match, then it also should have been shown and focused on in its entirety as well, so I can get the frustration. And it definitely sounds like it was a very important match, to have stretched across that many chapters, so I am so sorry the movie was such a let down. It also sucks to hear there might not be another season! It doesn’t make sense for them to wrap everything up in just two movies! Especially since a movie can’t realistically cover more than 20 decent-length chapters without rushing! I’m excited to get to that Hinata moment then 😊 And yeah, I’m noticing that about the Haikyuu characters and am appreciating the characterization in it, especially compared to some other sports manga I’ve watched or read. I’m sorry to hear that. I know people like that and do know how hard they can be to deal with, so I wish you luck and peace! I am very excited, actually, to see all the Hashira’s fighting styles, now that I’ve met them and seen at least one of theirs (somewhat…the Hashira did really little fighting in comparison to the others but we won’t get into my feelings on that.) So, you've got a story to tell. A personal saga that needs to escape your brain and grace the silver screen (or, you know, YouTube). But a big question blocks your path: documentary vs narrative? For a lot of filmmakers, this is a very real and very interesting choice. Real Reel vs. Reel Fake: What's the Diff? Documentaries? Think real people, real situations (well, mostly real), and zero Hollywood make-believe. You point your camera, capture life's unscripted moments, and weave them into a tapestry of truth (or at least your truth). Let's face it, documentaries are the budget-friendly option. Your wallet might whisper its preference too. As one panelist noted, "Documentaries can often be done with a lot fewer financial resources than a narrative film." But with great creative freedom comes great responsibility (and maybe a bigger budget). Hiring actors, renting equipment, and finding those perfect locations can cost a pretty penny. Plus, with all that creative control, it's easy to get lost in the fictional weeds and forget the heart of your story. So, Which Way Should You Doc or Dodge? The answer, my friend, depends on your story and your style. Here's a quick cheat sheet: - Go documentary if: Your story thrives on authenticity, you're on a budget, and you're a master of patience. - Go narrative if: You crave creative freedom, have a wild imagination, and possess the resources to bring your vision to life (or at least a decent chunk of those resources). - Bonus Tip: Why Not Both? Sometimes, the best stories defy easy categorization. Maybe your personal journey started in real life, but your imagination takes over for the grand finale. Blend elements of both documentary and narrative to create a hybrid beast that's uniquely yours. Remember, the most important thing is to tell your story in a way that resonates with you and your audience. Don't let the choice of Documentary vs Narrative hold you back. Got tagged by @lanonima and, because I have other things I should be doing, decided to get these all done right away Yay semi-productive procrastination!

What's one thing that your friends say that applies to you? Like a quirk or something they know you for? Something they associate with you always?

This legitimately depends on people group you’re asking. One friend immediately thinks of me when he sees anything Batman. For other friends, it’s my yarn witchcraft fibre arts. My coworkers? They associate me with baking. All are correct

Who inspires you in your life? I don't mean a celebrity, but a person you know, brag about someone incredible that is your inspiration.

Probably Sir Silver (very weird to call him that). I can trace so much of my personal growth over the last couple years back to him: I drive now, I’m more confident in social situations, he indirectly hauled me out of the worst writers block I’ve experienced... Things just feel POSSIBLE around him and I can’t explain why, but when I’m around him, it’s just like “Yeah. I CAN do this and I WILL. Bring. It. On.” I don’t think he has any idea he has this effect on me

Who do you consider to be your favourite person and why?

@flamingdoritos and @wheelybard are some of my oldest IRL friends and they have both seen me at my absolute lowest and worst and they’ve still said “you are my person and I am here” They bring colour to my life when my world goes grey scale.

What's your favourite kind of animal? If you lived with said animal, what would you name them? If you have said animal, what is their name?

Normal answer is bunnies. I had bunnies growing up named Cotton and Candy - they came named. The weird how-would-you-keep-that-as-a-pet answer is sea slugs. A freaking huge tank of all kinds of sea slugs. Heck If I know what I would name them. Probably name them all after fictional characters..

What colour is your most recent obsession?

Probably purple (I say “probably” as though I didn’t carry a paint chip around for eight years waiting to paint my kitchen that exact colour as soon as I got a house)

What's a little decor item that you want to own in the future?

I have very little impulse control when it comes to decor. Particularly since I tend to gravitate towards more unique things, so when I see something I want, I snag it. Except for a pair of owl candlesticks I found last summer. I left those in the shop and somewhat regret that. If I ever find something similar again, I may need to own them. A LARGE decor item that I want to own is a fancy board game table

Do you have any mundane but cute "talent"/thing you can do? Something just slightly unusual but also completely usual?

If I’ve heard a song before and am later presented with just the lyrics, I can usually pull the tune for it out of nowhere?

Do you like fashion? What kind of a dresser are you? More casual? Fancy?

Eh. I don’t mind looking nice, but I am very much a ‘jeans and t-shirt’ gal when I’m not at work. I did vow that this year I would be making (sewing/knitting/crocheting) all new articles of clothing instead of buying any, so that’s going to be interesting. My grandmother thinks I’m crazy for deciding that I will attempt to make myself jeans.

Do you wear makeup? What's your go-to makeup look? If you don't wear makeup, have you ever thought of wearing it?

Who has the time for makeup? Not I! Last time I wore make up was for my friend’s wedding and I felt like a goddamn princess. It was delightful and I have no idea how to replicate it.

Recommend us one movie that the critics/public didn't like that much when it came out but you personally think is a hidden gem!

Um. I dunno??? Kubo and the Two Strings? I wouldn’t dare go so far as to say that folks didn’t like it when it came out, just that it was not well known? It’s phenomenal

What show are you watching right now? Recommend it to us!

Currently I am watching a post-war saga about a man from a cult who steals (and subsequently adopts) a severely traumatized child from an evil government organization. After breaking the creed of his people for the sake of son, he must go on a journey to his ancestral home to seek redemption and absolution in the war-torn ruins (It’s The Mandalorian, folks)

Have you ever watched an anime? If yes, which one?

Numerous ones. Fullmetal Alchemist will probably always be my favourite series.

What's your favourite kind of art medium? Recommend us an artist or show us an art piece (could be music, painting, crochet, whatever) that you really love!

I don’t feel like I have a favourite art medium, but hand stitched embroidery is pretty freaking cool.

What do you like to do when you are bored?

Knit/crochet, go for a walk, play video games, read, show up unannounced at my parents’ house and make my boredom their problem, practice French...

How many pillows do you sleep with, if any?

One. Unless we count my two stuffed dogs - which I do not.

Do you have trouble with sleeping? Do you remember your dreams a lot or forget them as soon as you wake up?

I usually sleep pretty well. I try to keep fairly consistent sleep hours, which helps, but sometimes I am just Awake For No Reason. And that is The Worst. I also sleepwalk which is an adventure and a half sometimes. Once I nearly ran around my house at 2:30 in the morning looking for my cat because I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen or fed it. (I do not own a cat) I think it depends on when in the sleep cycle I wake up whether I remember my dreams or not. If I remember them FlamingDoritos usually gets a text saying “Okay so I just had a dream that...” And she’s gotta brace herself for the most unhinged series of paragraphs that she’ll encounter all week.

Who is one cool character in something you've seen in your life that you hyperfocused on at a time in your life.

The fact that you think I can pick ONE is almost insulting. Nightwing/Dick Grayson and Red Hood/Jason Todd from the Batman comics. Soren from Fire Emblem 9 & 10. Jak and Torn from the Jak and Daxter series. Lirael from the Abhorsen novels. I’m mildly ashamed that there’s only one lady listed

How has your day been so far?

Decent! My back and hips are killing me though and have been for weeks so that puts a bit of a damper on things.
