It's 2024 can we please stop saying it's normal to trace or copying an entire drawing and pretending it's 100% your work? Just bc you changed the character or added clothes on a base you found on pinterest it doesn't mean you created original art

Edit: I need to specifying some things, or somebody might misinterpret this post in the future.

Tracing and copying are more than okay to use if you need to exercise or study stuff! Copying might be a bit better because you're actually training your eye and hand on how to make shapes and volumes. My best advice is, if you trace something, keep it for yourself and don't post it online (if you do, ask the original artist if they're okay with it)

Always use references, especially for anatomy stuff! It's not a cheat! Poses are complicated, and there are a lot of photographers posting pose packs FOR FREE TO USE! Or even artists drawing them :)

Remember to read the TERMS OF SERVICE when using a photo/ base you've found online: some people want credits, others are fine without them! But you have to check to know, and please be respectful

This post came from the fact some of the images used and traced were actually anatomy studies made by a very famous artist who requested for them not to be traced over (or if used like that, to give credits were it's due).

For the actual bases, they can be found on Twitter, and credits are required as well.

For that one traced artwork. It's actually a work in progress made by an artist, and I suppose it was uploaded on Pinterest, so some people might think of it as a base? Although it has on it "WIP" and the original artist name (if you've been drawing. You know exactly what those 2 things mean). The other things that bothered me it's while for the other there has been an attempt, this one it's traced 1 to 1. Didn't bother to change the character face at all. That's what makes me mad. Taking all the credits for something that you didn't do. That's just being lazy and not giving a fuck about art. Also they traced other artist's illustrations as well with their OCs so. I guess it's not just fandom art 😂

On a side note, this is something that I've seen happen quite a lot. And especially if you're doing commissions for a living, a trace accusation can destoy your carreer. Therefore, I won't tell this person a name or make a callout post. I did block them and moved on, and this was a vent post I had to do for myself.

Thinking about how Welcome Home fandom has been mostly positive for me

So I've been watching one piece both live action and anime (actually one pace cause I cannot with the pacing of the fight scenes in the original) and I'm really enjoying both. But the live action is a really interesting adaptation? I kinda want to do a analysis of what they changed + how it works together when I'm more familiar with the source material.

Anyway, the biggest thing between them is that the live action keeps subtly changing my favorite character beats in ways that like. They're there but doing something wildly different for the characters. I dismissed the bit where they changed Luffy provoking Koby into a fight in front of the marines so that they wouldn't think he was pirate cause I can see how it wouldn't work with the changes they'd made previously and also time constraints. And sure they had Luffy sneak into Shakes treasure to eat the devil fruit rather than him just eating it in the background cause it was there and he was hungry (probably because it'd feel weird having the protagonist get his powers in te background of a scene? Tonaly I can see why they drew more attention to it even if it feels a little weird). But like. It keeps happening? Nami's a lot more invested in the crew so she doesn't steal the going merry as soon as she can cause she steals from pirates. Sanji and the head chef guy making Luffy clean cause he could pay the bill rather than bc he destroys part of the ship slightly undermines their whole 'no one leaves here hungry' that's like their entire motive. Sure I think they weren't letting Luffy go hungry by making him work for it/they were upset he was rude with the iou but also. They both feed a man and his crew they knew would likely turn against them against the wishes of the rest of the crew and without asking for recompense in the anime and it was very much a character defining moment. It's a little more vague but I also liked the bit where Usopp was facing down the pirate crew by himself, and transparently scared but still willing to defend his home.

Zoro suffers most from this I think so far. On one hand the fewer episodes/less time developing Luffy and Zoro's relationship makes Zoro apparently becoming ride or die for Luffy like the second time he met him very funny. On the other hand, I kinda like how the anime handled the aftermath of the mihawk fight better? Zoro pledging not to let Luffy down ever again feels so much more natural and yeah. Still haven't fully finished working out my thoughts about why it works so well for me. But i think overall Zoro has suffered the most from the compression of the story for live action so far for me.

That said, I'm still really enjoying the live action. The pacing, and I say this as someone with a love for old sci-fi shows, is horrendous in the anime. Even watching the more compact cut of it, the fight scenes are painful just cause the action keeps getting undercut by random bystanders commentating on what's happening. Also 100% improvement on the visuals, I love the look of the live action while I'm finding the style of the anime actively detrimental to its story (the fact that every single woman is drawn identically is very off-putting, and the. I want to call it a black-caracture but I also don't think I have the place to. Of Usopp is. Not Good (especially when all the non-black guys have interesting and incredibly varied body types and styles, which I personally often still dont like lol). The fact the characterisations are so strong is the only thing saving it for me personally). But yeah. The strength of the anime for me really is the characters, and I feel like the way the live action reshuffles/alters important character beats sometime comes across as unnatural or just undercuts some of my fave character moments. I am. Not very far into either though lol so my thoughts on this might change?

“So where’s your new girlfriend?” Shoko asks, sidling up next to you on the couch, looking around for the buff, leggy blonde that Satoru wouldn’t shut up about.

Yuki, your new girlfriend who everyone thought was God’s gift to the world. She stood at 6’2 and was a physics and anthropology student, a degree combination that was so niche and interesting she couldn’t even use her esteemed medical degree as a one up to make herself feel slightly better.

And to make matters worse she fixed up cars in her spare time, working part time at the local auto repairs shop. Which meant aside from her strength that she must have had killer hand dexterity, Shoko thought as she stalked her Instagram account one night, trying to find a flaw or weakness in Yuki’s image that would give her an ego boost.

It must’ve been nothing compared to Shoko’s meticulous and precise hands that allowed her to hold a scalpel without a hint of slight tremor, thanks to years of med school training.

She wondered if Yuki fucked you better than she did, the mere image of Yuki’s hands running over your body and claiming you, sent a wave of jealousy running towards her.

Your ten month relationship with Shoko was one that was toxic yet thrilling. Even though you hated to admit it, you lowkey enjoyed it.

The arguments, the make up sex, the way you’d rile each other up on purpose just for fun of it, hanging out with the people you both warned each other about and heading to places you knew she’d didn’t want you to be at, Suguru often joked that it was you two’s fucked up version of foreplay and you couldn’t deny it.

That was until it wore off, until the fighting got tiring and your friends were starting to get tired of picking sides all the time and picking up the pieces of your now fraught relationship. Especially Utahime, who was tired of playing mediator every time shit hit the fan. She loved you both as individuals but hated you together and she often made a point of it to tell you both each time.

So you finally threw in the towel for real this time and you both officially called it quits. Since then you made sure that your paths wouldn’t cross in the online and digital realm, blocking and deleting her from every avenue of your life.

However that didn’t mean your paths didn’t cross at some times, since you both ran in similar circles you often bumped into each other at school events, clubs or at parties but it never escalated from the weird, intense fleeting eye contact you both engaged in for a good minute before never seeing or speaking a word to each other again.

“Busy.” You reply, keeping it short and sweet. You didn’t even want to give her any more ammunition against you.

You knew she was itching for a morsel, for any part of your now guarded body language to betray itself and reveal that you still wanted her as much as she wanted you but she rather die than admit that out loud. She’d been watching your IG stories from burner accounts that you hadn’t found and blocked yet, she stalked your potentials online warding them off you.

“Oh, so trouble in paradise then?” She asked with a lazy grin, her cigarette still lit and hanging on her lower lip, the embers falling onto her lap. You never wanted more than now to slap that stupid grin and the cigarette off her face.

You scoffed at her fucking audacity, the way her dark eyes twinkled slightly at the mentions of the possibility of there being trouble in your relationship with your girlfriend.

“Don’t get your hopes up Sho, I’d still wouldn’t touch you with a ten foot pole.” You shot back with a smile, watching the faint light dim in her eyes.

Bullseye.

However she quickly recovered, her nonchalant demeanour returning as quickly as it left. You could tell she was subtly checking you out as she purposely blew out the smoke from her lips into your direction, making your nose twitch in agitation.

“Can’t you be a civilised being and smoke outside, like you know…regular people do?” You snapped at her, motioning to the backyard where all the smokers congregated, engaging in conversation with each other. The faint smell of cigarettes now clung onto your clothes, masking the sweet yet floral notes of the perfume you were wearing.

She liked how she still could get a reaction out of you no matter how small, it wasn’t like she was keeping score of this current interaction but if she was, it would be safe to say that she was winning right now. But who was keeping score?

“Ouch babe, you really know how to hit ‘em where it hurts.” She said, clutching her chest tightly as she feigned hurt. You rolled her eyes at her theatrics, with it obvious that she learned from the best, the Satoru Gojo himself. “And leave you all alone, pretty? Who’s gonna keep you entertained at this shit fest? It’s not like your girlfriend is gonna come and save the night anyway.”

The use of the pet name almost set your skin alight, it shouldn’t have had the effect that it did on you. Besides you’ve moved on and got a new girlfriend who’d moved heaven and earth if you asked, yet you were slightly buzzed on a couch with your ex girlfriend, ribbing with one another like it was nothing.

Did this count as cheating?

Probably. Yet your conflicting feelings were sidelined as you felt a thrill up your spine as Shoko bitterly mentioned your girlfriend. Good, that she was finally rattled, finally threatened by someone else that she couldn’t use her intellect against as a one up for her to heal her own insecurities.

Yuki was smart, pretty and was set to graduate with Honours in the following spring. A world away from the people Shoko fraternised with, shallow and insecure types that either viewed her solely as a sexy enigma of a woman or the one’s that were desperately seeking her approval and validation blindly going with anything she wanted, even if it meant letting her play them like fools. You pitied them every time you saw them debut on Shoko’s IG story, knowing that time was ticking before she got bored again.

“You sound real jealous.” It was now Shoko’s turn to let out a huff of her own at your ridiculous claim. She wasn’t jealous was what she told herself regularly when she spotted you and Yuki holding hands on campus or when she looked at pictures of the two of you looking loved up on Utahime’s instagram as her fourth burner account got suspended for ‘suspicious activity’. She’d spend hours poring over every single angle and feature, trying to find a fissure in the loved up display of romance you posted online.

Fuck it she was jealous but her pride was stronger than anything else, no matter how good you looked in your outfit that did nothing to hide your figure or the way you mindlessly chewed on your bottom lip.

“I’m just saying, was that the best you could do? You had to find someone who could literally pass Satoru’s sister. I always knew you had a secret thing for him.” She remarked, a classic Shoko move that you knew all too well. When she got cornered her defense was outlandish claims that she knew would piss you off.

Yet even your knowledge of this wouldn’t prevent you from playing into her hand. You knew that Yuki and Satoru weren’t even alike at all, aside from the fact that they both studied physics, were tall and had their own unorthodox methods of doing things along with their niche hobbies. It was that slightly condescending, clinical approach that she used when she said these things that caused you to flip.

“Even you don’t believe that.” You scoff looking over at her once again. “You’re just saying anything to keep me here, talking to you.” You turned to her fully, looking at her properly for the first time your eyes meeting hers in the low lights of the party, whilst the other partygoers carried on not privy to the reunion taking place between you both. You felt Gojo’s eyes search for you in the crowd but the feeling quickly vanished, letting you breathe out a sigh of relief. Knowing the hell he’d raise if he saw the pair of you together again, talking, after everything that happened.

The music was deafening, you felt the bass from the speakers ripping through you as you leaned in closer to hear her better. The familiarity of it all was nice. Her warmness, her scent just being around her was so comforting, so natural until she pissed you off. Which is what made this whole thing so frustrating, the lingering connection, that tether to her that still called out to you even when you weren’t in the mood for it, even when you knew it would drive you insane.

You were convinced at some point that she paid a witch off of Etsy to do a love spell on you, that was the only rational explanation. Until you remembered that Shoko was ever the realist. You remember her stories of what she’d seen during her shifts at the hospital that made her grow jaded, the hopeful ideals of a higher power dwindling each time she couldn’t save a patient, the idea seemed so outlandish each second you thought about it.

Despite her pragmatism you knew she was a desperate woman underneath her cool exterior. From the bits and pieces you’d managed to glean from Utahime at your coffee catch-ups she’d still was butt hurt over how things ended.

Maybe it wasn’t her, maybe it was you.

Even with a beautiful and perfect girlfriend, some dark twisted part of you called out to her like the could hear you. If you had better self esteem and respect you wouldn’t be here entertaining her bullshit on a couch at a party that served shit drinks and played shit music. You’d be at your dorm studying, keeping far out of Shoko’s reach like a normal person.

“Just admit that you missed me, missed this.” You whisper into her ear, the music being a tad too loud for you two communicate normally. Honestly you didn’t even need the verbal confirmation, her body language was already enough for you to get what you wanted. But it was something about those three words leaving her mouth that made you feel giddy, the confirmation that you still were on her mind gave you a heady sense of power.

Yet Shoko wasn’t gonna give in so easily, to give you what you craved so desperately.

Which was why you were propped up on a random bathroom counter, legs spread and your panties long forgotten as she pumped two fingers in and out of your soaked cunt, with a practiced and a methodical ease. With her other hand grabbing your jaw, so you could watch how she revelled in your unraveling, pupils blown out, her mouth slightly parted as she drank up your moans and noises eagerly.

If this was any other situation you would’ve had a witty comeback at the ready but she had you like putty in her palms, so moldable, so willing to do her bidding that it left your lips without a second thought.

Damning yourself to her for eternity.

The words left your lips in a warbled mess, tinged with a plea for release. A need for her to give you what you’d been building up to. The thrilling descent into pleasure that’d she’d been orchestrating, promising even as she brought you to an orgasm. Upon your return to the party, you felt the gazes of your friends on upon you two. It turns out your timed exits did nothing if life 360 still picked up that you were in the same room as each other. Utahime looks pissed, Suguru looks over it and Satoru looks like he wants to strangle you both but they say nothing, exchanging shared looks with each other.

The realisation of what just happened doesn’t hit you until later. When all Yuki sends you is a link to Shoko’s story, you realise that your seven minutes in heaven with your ex girlfriend does have some real life consequences after all.

Absolutely obsessed over the editing of this show, its as maximalist and overbearing as all feelings are in highschool. Emotions spill out of you at that age and the overbearing nature of them can be as blinding as all that neon and all these fast cuts.

Heard that this was filmed on phone and I love that in some scenes theres a conscious decision to allow it to be Phone Quality.

Chian is such a problem cryingggg

I really love how this show respects that social media is an extension of self for youth, and in doing so how it shows respect to a younger generation. A majority of highschool media now is created by those who had to come of age as technology became accessible without regard to how thats changed. Chian following Fou4mod is framed as a big deal because it is; if its not an exchange of accounts the act of following is never casual. You had to think of the person, find their account, and put yourself in the vulnerable position of being caught thinking of them. Online accounts as a barrier carry a weight thats often dismissed but this story cannot work without allowing this moment to have heft. If a follow is just a follow then situationships (like hes probably about to be in with Chian) cannot work, Chian showed his cards and made Fou4mod feel like he has less to lose because he took such an Important Step. Lesser shows have made fun of that step!

Thats all to say Chian is definitely a problem and he probably needs to get his ass whooped in the near future (^-^;

Chian barely follows anyone... hes true to this life unfortunately. My thoughts are with Fou4mod this is about to be a life altering relationship (Extremely Negative).

I feel strangely emotional after watching that. There is such a dearth of television about the youth of people in mid genz who were in highschool or beginning uni during the pandemic. Every show produced and set in high school recently has been extremely nostalgic, set in a recent past, or almost out of time in a world where social media is not as important and COVID didnt fundamentally change communications and relationships as a whole.

As someone who spent a longer time in highschool than most people do, I dont think I've seen something so insightful since American Vandal. That show understood the slow nature of highschool in the later 2010s, it understood the uncomfortableness that lurks beneath your skin as a teenager and showcased it with that perpetually hazy and lazy filter that the soundcloud rap era felt like.

This show takes the exact opposite approach, COVID made all the teens and kids view technology As Them. A teenager in 2020 and 2021 was their phone because to take that away from them was to cut off any and all outside connection they had, something that was especially true for queer youth who already felt that alienation in their identity. Its lovely to see traces of that put to screen and treated with kindness, and it allows for the aesthetic maximalism to be justified through the sheer desperation they have to Truly Participate in life once again.

Really excited to watch this continue, I think its really funny how instead of ITSAYs longing and self flagellation (which was also extremely late 2010s) gelboys is fast moving and almost refuses to dwindle on their internal worlds so far, these teens just want to be out there doing things. The changed public life for kids directly after the pandemic and before the conservative pendulum swing is such a fun period to explore, I loved this first ep immensely.

Vincent only really uses Instagram, but is required by the Department to have it private because his human name is legally missing-presumed-dead and his face has a risk of being recognized if someone from his human life stumbled upon his Instagram. That said, he doesn't really screen people who request to follow him

Darlin' and Sam don't use any social medias. Darlin' has a Facebook from teenage years, but they deactivated it. But not fully deleted, so they can still be tagged in all the group photos posted to the pack page. In high school, Darlin' was the person who got a lot of unsolicited DMs because they were hot but they hate attention so they blocked everyone but their pack and deactivated. Darlin' reluctantly keeps their Discord for the pack server

David hates social media. He maintains the pack's private Facebook group and Discord server (though the latter is really more Asher's job, David's just in charge) but will not touch anything else. David's favorite social media is YouTube because he can lookup tutorials for anything and not have to ask anyone for help

Milo's a borderline Instagram influencer. He's got a gazillion followers (who all think he's hot, and he is). His Instagram is directly linked to his Facebook, so every picture and caption he puts on IG gets automatically posted to FB too

Marie comments only on Milo's Facebook (she has and kinda uses IG, but doesn't comment). She's the one that will leave the heartfelt comments with "Call me" at the end. She knows that's a meme among younger people that their older relatives leave "what a beautiful couple. Call me" comments, but she does it anyway. And guess what? She does it because it works. Milo👏 is👏a👏Mama's👏Boy👏 and he will call her when she leaves those comments

Asher doesn't use social media much, but is perpetually on Discord. He mods the pack's server, and like 6 others just for fun. He does post lots of pictures of Babe and selfies of the two of them together on the pack's Facebook though

Damien used to get into arguments on Twitter with randos. Huxley thinks it's funny to pull them up from when Damien was a teenager

Huxley was never much into most social medias but I like to think he'd be like that one TikTok dude who pops up on my Tumblr dash occasionally who explains how to do calisthenics and other workout stuff in a really simple, easy, modified way for people who are just getting started. People started following him because he's hot, and then realized he's actually like the nicest dude and doesn't know he's popular

Lasko's a Tumblr boy. I'm not taking constructive criticism on this

i mean people are just really mad that lando's race got ruined after what looked like his best weekend since australia so theyre just crashing out at everyone and everything, i cant lie it has been so frustrating to see him having to come back from p7 with pace that makes me believe he would have won that by 30 seconds, and that + the jeddah crash + everything about bahrain.... at the end i guess people are just irritated to see him struggle with something he had dominated last season because they made that car for his slower teamamate (and im not even saying that was on purpose but it is the truth)

i mean 'they' didn't make the car for his slower teammate, his teammate just isn't slower anymore

the dynamic we've seen with them two ever since late 2023 was that lando at his best is unbeatable, but oscar is more consistent. this is why he always does well on sprint weekends, and why whenever lando mucks up quali he's always there to pick up the pieces. it looks like he's less daring with his lines / decisions over one lap (but he IS more daring in wheel-to-wheels. which is where lando tends to be more calculated and choose the 'safe' option more)

so lando this year has been complaining abt not clicking with the car as much as oscar, but i don't think that's bc oscar 'prefers' this more unstable configuration, but bc lando is an absolute beast over 1 lap and his all-out approach (while extremely sexy) fucks him over sometimes with this more difficult car. and like half the time hes been talking abt struggling in the car, he was first in like every quali session except q3 - so it's clearly not an issue of speed, it's an issue of risk / reward, which is a problem we've seen lando manage and conquer before

and that's like... what, four races? he's clearly back on pace now, and has never actually ceded the lead in terms of race pace (imo oscar no longer has that obvious deficit, he now just drives really well, but lando still has the measure on him purely because his race pace has always been exceptional). it was obvs frustrating yesterday to watch lando lose out & give oscar his third victory in a row, but we all saw what happened, right? max verstappen wheel-to-wheel extraordinaire once again pushed a fellow driver almost into the wall, then lando did as much as could be expected of him to salvage the race yet again and overtake everyone except the other mclaren

u mention bahrain and jeddah and yes it's been really frustrating to watch like 3 recovery races in a row from lando. and ig u can choose to be frustrated at the car that's giving him quali woes but at the end of the day its on lando to fix it and he IS fixing it. i trust him as a driver, i trust him as a qualifier, and i trust him as an athlete who learns from his mistakes. and none of that has anything to do with oscar

i think all in all my frustrations with lando's situation just kind of... stay put where they are, instead of extending into a conspiracy that mclaren hates lando bc they posted a photo where oscar's big forehead (beloved) blocks him out. or bc the mclaren merch store has put out oscar win merch. that's specifically what i was talking about, not that lando fans aren't allowed to be annoyed in general

School fucking sucked. Nobody has talked this out and I’m stuck in between. Only one didn’t vent to me about it and expect me to agree. I’ve got 3 different views rhag aren’t even mine. I should’ve stopped it sooner. Instead I ignores it. I think they hate me. They should.

My parents are being rude as always. I need to move and I’m forced to sit. It’s called ADHD. Please turn down the radio I don’t like how loud it is, but instead they turned it up on purpose. It’s so loud. I’m really overstimulated now.

Only thing that really gets me happy these days is my buddies. Which is nice, since j can contact most of em whenever. But I’m still so isolated and it sucks. I don’t mind it as mcuh anymore. I think im used to it. I’m learning how to get around the limits and ways to entertain myself with them. For example: how high of a score can I get in the minute I’m allowed? What if I color swap this guy in markup? Etc. I’m getting bored again though. Working through it. Still no idea when I’m allowed time again. I know I’m getting a new phone soon since this one is 7 years old and dies whenever the fuck it wants. Slow too. It’s alright. I’m alive aren’t I?

I’ve had a few people tell me to talk to someone or get help, and I actually am, as I’ve said before :)

I am in therapy, even if it’s not as often as I’d like, and I am talking to trusted people when I need too. So please just don’t go “get help” “go to therapy”. I’m not mad about it. Just don’t like it very much. I also don’t really appreciate whoever was on anon spamming “mentally ill” earlier. I blocked them. So. Idc who they were, fuck off. I fully understand I have mental health issues and am addressing them. Cool.

I am a 16-year-old student in Form 3 (Grade 8). I study the Principle of Business (P.O.B.), medicine, and as well as pursuing writing, animation, and art!

Creating OCs in writing is what I like to do. (I can't draw well, but I'm learning to.)

I like writing and drawing stories and art about my characters or any other people's OCs (We all wanted to have comfort characters in our lives, or we tried to comfort them and make them have a happy ending)

I really love making OCs on any fandoms that are based on the Indigenous sides (Mostly the Trini/Vene ones) and would love to share my culture with you guys here.

I love making comics, usually angst (I'm allergic to angst, but at the same time, I'm never against it; I just love to make myself suffer, lmao) or comedy-themed. I'm fluff and hurt/comfort obsessed.

I technically can't see so well with my eyes (very, VERY blurry), so I wear strong glasses lenses.

Harry quickly stalked over, poking his finger into Louis’ ribs. “Lou, you’re- I’m trying to cook over here. Out of my kitchen. I mean it. Out. Take the whole bloody block of it if you must but don’t-” 

“Your kitchen, huh? Say that again,” Louis challenged, tilting his head to the side, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

“Could you please not?” Harry huffed out as Louis bumped against him for the third time in the last five minutes, leaning up to get a mug from the cupboard for the shorter man, handing it to him with a grimace. “ ‘S my last cuppa,” Louis said solemnly, widening his eyes at the younger man, well aware he would be back in a few minutes. 

“It was supposed to be the last cookie. And the last spoonful of dough. And-”

“Alright, alright, don’t get your panties all in a twist, lad,” Louis chuckled, shooting Harry a shit-eating grin as he purposely bumped into him on his way out, ducking out of the doorway with a yelp when Harry reached out with flour covered hands. “The game’s back on. And- there’s smoke coming from the oven,” He pointed out, sticking his head back in, laughing under his breath as Harry rushed over and brought out a large pan of slightly too-brown cake. 

“Oh that looks great, if a little burnt. Don’t mind if I do,” Louis chuckled, walking back in and riffling through the drawers for a fork. “I very much do mind, Lewis.” Harry narrowed his eyes at the older man, slapping his hand away when he reached for the cake, “It’s for dessert this evening. Now, go,” He said through gritted teeth, bodily pushing his husband out of the room, ignoring his pleas and protests.

Harry sighed as he laid the cake on the cooling rack, making a note to shave off the browned exterior. He loved having the rest of the boys over, loved cooking for them, and loved Louis even more, but his husband was a handful sometimes, he thought, chuckling internally. He cracked the window open, letting some of the smoke out as he got working on the petit fours, putting some strawberries in a bowl full of cold water as he whipped up some cream, humming a little tune to himself. 

Barely ten minutes had passed and Louis had already made two more trips into the kitchen, one to fill up his mug again and another to put a bag of popcorn into the microwave. He hadn’t exactly said anything to Harry, but Harry knew exactly what he was up to and made sure to squint at him in the most intimidating way he could (which wasn’t too intimidating, apparently, considering how the older man always burst into laughter at his expression).

He was grating up some parmesan onto the lasagna he had already layered with ricotta and mozzarella, thoughts lingering jokingly on how much easier his life would be, not if Louis could actually come and help (he was a hopeless romantic, but not that hopeful) but if he didn’t have to practically fend Louis off like- like he used to fend off Dusty when he would pile food into her dish. He giggled to himself at the absurd image of Louis as a cat that popped up in his mind, quickly glancing at the clock. They still had a while before the boys would come, and knowing them, they wouldn’t exactly be on the minute. 

Harry was wrapping up the parmesan and placing it in the fridge but he turned and saw Louis standing by the tray, shreds of cheese stuck to his fingers as he quickly hid them, looking like a child caught stealing cookies and for one moment Harry had the irrational urge to burst into laughter- but that quickly dissipated when Louis pinched some more cheese up, holding his gaze insolently as he put it in his mouth. 

“Get out of my kitchen,”

Harry quickly stalked over, poking his finger into Louis’ ribs. “Lou, you’re- I’m trying to cook over here. Out of my kitchen. I mean it. Out. Take the whole bloody block of it if you must but don’t-” 

“Your kitchen, huh? Say that again,” Louis challenged, tilting his head to the side, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

“Get. Out. Of. My-”

Harry stopped midway, words disappearing from his mind as Louis came up to him, locking both his wrists in a single fluid motion, gripping them tightly on either side as he locked him against his own body. The expression on Louis’ face could only be described as hungry, and Harry shivered slightly, the cold edge of the counter digging into his waist where his shirt had ridden up.

Louis tutted, dramatically raising an eyebrow, “You’re asking me to get out? In that tone? ‘S not a very nice thing to say. I’m just here trying to show how much I appreciate your cooking and you’re being… so rude,” Louis sighed deeply and despite his nonchalant tone, Harry almost felt the atmosphere in the room shift and it sent a bolt of arousal through him. 

Harry was in half a mind to be mouthy, break out of his grip and talk back to him, it wouldn’t have been an effort at all; but one look at Louis’ face, pupils already blown wide, swallowing the blue around them, jaw set as he pouted slightly had him reconsider, slipping easily into their roles. “I- I was just- wanted to cook well and yo-” 

“Y’know, we have about an hour.” Louis interrupted, the soft smile on his face completely at odds with his tone, leaning in until his lips were close enough to Harry’s ear for him to feel his warm breath, causing goosebumps to run down his side. “I don’t want excuses, love. You were using your mouth too much…” he tutted, lifting Harry’s chin with his finger to catch his gaze.

Harry had unknowingly trapped his bottom lip between his teeth and Louis gently pushed at it with his thumb, still intently staring at the younger man. “Would’ve liked to just bend you over right here, use that fucking spoon on you- show you what you get for talking back,” he whispered, tongue darting out to wet his lips and Harry’s gaze caught on them, feeling blood rush south, knees weak as he already regretted not thinking before he spoke, feeling a tingle of excitement despite the apprehension swirling in his gut.

“Eyes up here.” Louis said shortly, “Bedroom, now. You have exactly five minutes, y’know what to do,” He brushed his thumb across Harry’s lips, the unsaid ‘or else’ hanging heavy in the air, smirking as he walked out of the kitchen, leaving Harry struggling to catch his breath as he rushed off, all thoughts of cooking out the window.
