the island is alit with sunlight ,  the heat radiating with a passion that cannot be explained .  a light breeze jostles the palm trees ,  creating a melody of its own that reaches the ears as a pleasant hum .  destiny island is beautiful today ,  and sora is relieved that for once ,  he has alone time with his close friend .  don't get him wrong ,  he enjoys riku's company all the same ,  but something about kairi sets her apart ,  and he hasn't quite figured it out just yet .  the boy watches as she approaches on a boat ,  the cerulean waves lapping at the bottom and creating pleasant ripples upon the ocean's surface .  he returns the greeting wave he receives with a wide ,  ecstatic grin ,  practically bouncing on his toes in excitement .  keeping a close eye as the girl approaches him ,  he feels something funny in his chest  — did he accidentally skip breakfast or something ?  he doesn't quite know ,  yet he has no time to figure it out right now .  kairi is here ,  and he can't keep her waiting for long.

brunet takes princess by the hand ,  palms colliding into one another as if they're meant to be there ;  a completed puzzle that no one knew needed solving until now .  sora feels that funny feeling again ,  but tries to brush it off as to not worry his companion .  as they walk along the shore ,  collecting pieces of seaglass and storing it in pouches ,  he wonders . . .  wonders why kairi agreed to spend time with him alone today ,  wonders why she's choosing him over hanging out with riku .  wonders why she still cares about him even after everything they've been through .  shaking his head ,  the thoughts scatter like storm clouds before they can fester in his mind for long .  he needs to stay focused .  he shouldn't be worrying over the little things right now .

it's when they've stopped collecting trinkets and begin sitting together on a rock that sora pops the question .  ' hey ,  kairi . . .  why did you decide to come with me today ?  usually ,  you spend more time with riku .  i'm just wonderin' ,  you don't gotta answer if you don't wanna . '

it's kairi's response that makes it all click in the boy's head ;  the softened tones that slip past her lips ,  the genuine smile that graces her face . . .  he realizes that the funny feeling he's been having is his heart skipping a beat ,  and he feels it .  he feels his pounding pulse quicken at her words ,  sees the girl's cheeks flush simultaneously to her rejoinder ,  hears that slight crack in her voice ,  as if she's slightly hesitant to admit the truth .

' because i love you . '

sora looks at kairi ,  truly looks at her ,  sees her for who she is .  her image is painted in an indescribable beauty ,  indigo hues sparkling in the iridescence of the summer sun .  she reminds him of a flower in that moment ;  a natural charm that only continues to heighten in allure as it grows .  everything falls into place for him ,  and he inches closer ,  reaching out to grasp at her hand once more .  he gently squeezes her palm ,  smiling softly at the girl in front of him with adoration glimmering in his ocean eyes .

'  it's all he can say ,  all he can bring himself  to say , though he really does mean what he says .  he's still trying to process it all ,  still trying to wrap his mind around what this means for the two of them .  at last ,  he gathers the words up into his throat .  ' so . . .  what does this make us ?  i mean ,  i don't mind if we stay like this ,  or even become more than friends . . . '  he swallows .  ' i just wanna know what's going on ,  yanno ? '

A comfortable silence settled between them, filled with the unspoken understanding that had grown over their journey. It was a bond forged not just in the heat of battle but in the peace that followed. 

Suddenly, a meteor streaked across the sky, its tail a blaze of glory that momentarily lit up the night. "Make a wish," she whispered, squeezing his hand.

Sora closed his eyes, a smile playing on his lips. "Done. What about you?"

"I wished that no matter where we go, we'll always find our way back to each other," she confessed, her voice barely audible.

Opening his eyes, Sora leaned in, his breath warm on her cheek. "That's not just a wish. It's a promise," he said, sealing it with a gentle kiss on her forehead. He reached into his pocket, pulling out a paopu fruit, its star-like shape glistening in the dimming light. "Here, you should have the first bite," he offered, holding it out to her.

With a gentle nod, she accepted, taking a small bite. The sweetness of the fruit seemed to encapsulate their shared journey—a blend of joy, challenges, and unspoken promises.

Wow it’s been a few years since I translated a song lolol. There are a few translations of this very popular AND FUCKING TRAGIC one out there already, but because the grammar gets a bit convoluted I’m sure this won’t be the last. Put it like that.

i know people are tired of versus 13, but i've been thinking about if anything from the trailers will be made relevant to kingdom hearts 4 lately so i want to just dump my thoughts here. also a little bit about the 4 trailer because a certain line is bugging me and i’m going stir crazy waiting for news. like for one "there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" was so important that it was in all of the trailers until the direction change and could possibly be mentioned by mom or yozora himself. if maybe "the true figure is still hidden in sleep" is still important with how much sleep still seems to be (sora and yozora sharing dreams but also riku’s dreams and sora’s apparent coma upon arriving in quadratum). strelitzia is the new white-robed figure & it’d be so cool to maybe see a variation of yozora vs strelitzia or even sora vs her:

i kind of feel like maybe the conversation between noct and stella might have been mostly scrapped

i think mainly the parts about a select people being able to continuously see a light in the sky after a near death experience from which they gain power from at the cost of another's life. but the stuff about etro opening the door for the dead and a light shining down could easily become “door to kingdom hearts” related or even related to the meteor shower that happened on destiny islands. maybe worked into the characters we know arriving in quadratum the way kairi arrived on destiny islands.

there’s also the whole “eyes that see the light of expiring souls” and “there are things i just ‘know,’ and i have no idea how.” which i guess could now be yozora being able to go to the final world in his dreams. 

plus an conversation that happens directly after noct talks to stella after their first trailer interaction which boils down to a disembodied voice asking who noct is and him responding that he was going to ask them the same thing. a line added in a later trailer is him saying “goodbye. whoever you are.” which i’m thinking could either be now yozora talking to whoever stole his appearance/whoever told him to “save sora” or completely reworked into his meeting with sora in the final world. i think it’d be super interesting if yozora had spoken to the person who stole his appearance before hand and maybe even become friends before it happened, but i’d honestly be okay if that isn’t the case. it being whoever told him to “save sora” could also lead it to him not knowing who stole his look and that maybe the same person took nameless star’s name.

i’m also wondering if “the heart resides within the soul, which in turn is guided by fate to its rightful place.” and “the choice is yours once more.” form the kh4 trailer is related to yozora saying “if you are who you say, and it was fate that brought us here, then... my path is clear.”

i also wonder if “guided by fate to its rightful place” is more related to yozora or sora, or perhaps everyone who isn’t supposed to be in quadratum and it’s clear that it’s up to sora to decide what to do. sorry if this is all something people have already talked about at length. i just figured i might as well use this tumblr dump my hyperfixation thoughts somewhere.

The Sky, the Land, the Sea, and the Cherry Tree

So this was just a weird plot bunny I've had involving Kingdom Hearts and Sakura Haruno. It probably won't go anywhere else from here, but if anyone wants to use the idea, they can. Just please give me credit.

Also, this was written on my phone late at night, and obviously, writers can't catch all their own mistakes.

Kaguya felt the burning rage consumed her very being as these two boys, who where the recarnation of her sons seal her away. She wanted revenge.

Then she felt it.

The door had opened opened, just ever so slightly. She could feel the energy of the worlds seep out from behind it. The world's that were never ment to connect to this one.

She smiled wickedly. She had a the perfect thought that would make this team suffer.

Kaguya allowed her hair to extend and wrap around the the girl.  She had flung her through the opening and watched as door closed as she was sealed away. The screams of the girl's name leaving her teammates lips, brought Kaguya great comfort.

Sakura bearly had enough chakra to one last healing, but nothing more than that. She along with her teammate had let their guards down. Watching as Kaguya was sealed. She even saw Naruto fling black Zetsu to be sealed along with his mother. If only they had known what she would do.

The moment Sakura felt the hair wrap around her she tried to struggle. She even reached out for her sensei for help, but was only able to brush her fingertips against his. She heard him call out for her. Watched as her two other teammates, looked at her. Their eyes shocked with not just worry, but what seemed like helplessness.

"SAKURA," they shouted, together.

Oh, how she once dreamed of them calling her name. However unlike those dreams, it did not sound warm, or happy. It sounded like a plea for her life.

Despite moving at such a fast speed everything around me seemed like it was all in slow motivation. I watched as they grew smaller the further I got.

My eyes grew heavy, after feeling like I was flung threw an invisible force. The force had stretched before tearing. Then I saw the door.

'It closing,' my subconscious, told me as the world around was enveloped in darkness.

The last thing I could feel was my body being submerged into water.

Sora and Riku were at it again, and Kairi was waiting for them at the end point. Most days it was fun to watch, exciting even. Today, however, was different.

From where she stood, she caught a speck of pink from the corner of her eye. She began to walk toward it, and when she saw that it was a person she ran towards them.

Kneeling down toward the girl, she noted that she was breathing, but unconscious. the girl couldn't be any older than 12, yet it looks as if she had been through a lot.

The pink haired girl's clothes were worn, burned and missing it's right sleeve. Not to mention the minor bruises, and the hole that Kairi was sure if she flipped the girl over she'd find an identical one on the other side.

"Riku, can't you just hold back a little for once?"

"Now that wouldn't really do you any good. If you want to beat me then you just have to keep getting better."

Hearing her two boys' voices she called out to them for help.

It was Riku who picked her up, and it was Sora who suggested she stay over his place. His mother was the island's healer in an unofficial way, so yeah.

His mother didn't ask many questions, just hurriedly guided them to the extra room. Riku laid her down of the soft bed. They watched as Sora's mom cover the girl up with a white sheet. The woman even opened the window's blinds slightly to let some light in.

When Sora's mom left, it was quiet between them. They could only stare at the sleeping girl, as the ceiling fan provided a light hum in the background.

In a way it similar to how they first met Kairi.

A girl who they never seen before, washes up on the island. They have no idea where she could have come from. The only thing it brought to the islanders was that thought that there might be more beyond the island. Now the only thing with this girl is that she, unlike Kairi, may have some recollection of where she came from.

It took three days for the pink haired girl to wake up.

Sora was in the room just taking away, to keep her company, when she opened her eyes.

Of course he and his friends have been visiting. Not only were they curious of the girl, but they also didn't want her to feel lonely. They knew she didn't have anybody to make sure she was ok or visit, so they took it upon themselves.

Only they didn't expect how she would react when she woke up.

When I opened my eyes, I knew I was in unfamiliar territory with an unfamiliar person. I shot out of bed taking a defensive stance.

The boy before me was shocked by my sudden movements. I fact he had even fell out of his chair. I watched as he stood slowly, careful not to make sudden movements. His rose his hand, keeping his palms open, as to show he ment no harm.

"Hi. It's nice that tour awake now. My friends and I found you washed up on shore," he paused, before continuing, "We brought you to my home so my mom can look after you. She's pretty much the island's unofficial doctor. Speaking of which, I think I should tell her your awake. She probably has some questions for you to answer, and some move things to check. I'll call for her from here. She's downstairs, so she shouldn't have a problem hearing me. I can see you're a little on edge so I'll stay here so you can watch me. I promise i am not here to hurt you."

I watched as he called for his mother. I even channeled chakra to my ears to listen for reinforcements just in case.  However, true to his word it was just his mother who entered.

Slightly letting my guard down I answered all medical related questions. I still had know idea if they were friend or foe, but I wasn't going to risk it.

When she and the boy left, I could hear the his excited chatter.

"I can't wait to tell Kairi and Riku she's awake. I'm sure they'll be so excited to meet her! In fact, I should go get them right now," he said, excitedly.

However, his mother stopped him in his tracks when she spoke, "Sora, perhaps you should hold off. She just woke up, and based on her physical conditions; she must have been through a lot. Give her time."

"Ok mom."

I listened to their steps as they walked away. Once they where far enough, I checked over myself, with my chakra. I noted the bruises, and the slight scaring but nothing too serious to waste my chakra on.

With a sigh, I removed the white sheet. Bringing my legs over the beds ledge, however I could quite touch the floor. They just hung there. In fact my feet haven't hung like this since I was in the academy. Panic was staring to bubble within me.

Hurriedly, I made my way to the connected bathroom. What I saw in the mirror, cause me to almost loose my cool.

There before me stood, a girl who I have long out grown. She stared back at me with wide emerald eyes, and tousled pink hair. The baby fat still being out grown, and the purple diamond faded but still there.

My hand reached out and presses against the cool glass.

This couldn't be happening. After the fight, I knew something must have happened. Especially after being flung, but for my body to regress back into my twelve year old state seemed unlikely. Yet, my reflection proves otherwise.

Backing away, my back was pressed against the wall. I felt like I couldn't breathe, my heart rate accelerated. I even saw my hands tremble as I brought them up to run through my hair.

I was having panic attack. 

I slid down to the floor, the wall being my only real support to stay somewhat upright.

"I need to calm myself," I said, to myself.

I looked around the bath room and tried to find something to refocus on. There was nothing that caught my attention. Next best thing to do is to take deep breaths and count.

Breath in.

'One.'

Exhale.

Breath in.

'Two'

Exhale.

Breath in.

'Three.'

Exhale.

On and on that cycle went, until I could finally feel in control.

How long I sat on the bathroom floor for, I don't know. All I knew is I was twelve again, on an unknown island, I just had a panic attack, and I was so fucking hungry.

Seeking out wasn't an issue, but being hungry can be slightly distracting. Which would explains why the brunette boy, startled me as I raided his fridge.

Rude, I know, but cut me some slack. I fought a war, got stabbed, saved countless of lives, pumped my best friends hear manulally, punch a goddess, got transported to who knows where, and was age reduced to be a preteen. I think food being the only thing on my right now is considerably reasonable.

"You know, if you were hungry, you could've just told us," he said, with a teasing grin.

For a moment, I saw Naruto instead of him.

Looking down, I mumbled, "I didn't want to be a bother."

"You'll never be a bother here. How about we get you some warm food, and talk a bit. You know, get to know eachother."

Perhaps it was the fact that I was hungry, that he had a familiar aura, or that I didn't want to be alone; either way I took him up on his offer.

It would be from this moment on that the strings of fate would intertwine Sakura to not just Sora's soul but to his friends as well. This is where her true journey begins.

Kairi game = discovering what princess she is

Plot idea:

Land of Departure -

Aqua, after some months of training, believes Kairi is ready to go out and explore the worlds.

Kairi is unsure the point in all this, since Sora has already restored and connected so many worlds, but Aqua reveals that in her time, there were even more. She tells her to look at the stars, there are many more worlds out there that havent been touched.

Putting a hand on her shoulder, she gives her encouragement, and Kairi agrees willingly, but still feels a bit aimless.

Worlds and lessons:

1. Brother Bear - at first, agrees to find the bear, but after the spirits give her the ability to talk to animals, she realizes the situation and holds off Kenai's brother until the truth is revealed, and saves Kenai's brother from fully turning into a heartless.(A true disney princess can communicate with animals lol but this journey is for her to discover how strong she really has become, being able to do this herself, and learning that love is one way to grow stronger and become an adult.)

2. Dumbo - gets caught in the storm when the tent is coming up, sees dumbo and Timothy drunk flying into a tree. She flies up, and they realize Dumbo can use his ears to fly, but hes scared. The crows give him the feather, and Timothy convinces Kairi to come to Dumbos first show. Kairi goes to save dumbo, and tells him his heart is what makes him fly, helping Timothy to get the feather later but dumbo flies to save her from a circus heartless. After that, he doesnt need the feather, but reveals hes seen Kairi's good luck charm. Kairi says Sora is like her 'Feather', but hes always in her heart, even when hes away. (She begins to miss Sora again but sees her potential as a Keyblade wielder, she no longer doubts her own growing strength) <dumbo doesnt speak, Timothy does for him>

3. Lady and the Tramp - helps Lady escape heartless and Tramp saves her from dogs in deadend. Finds Lady and Tramp later trying to sneak away from the dogcatcher at the zoo, and helps take Lady's muzzle off. She watches them eat together and looks up to the sky with stars in her eyes. (She wishes to share more memorable moments with Sora, hints of romance and pining.) <dogs barely speak to Kairi, it's a short introduction>

4. Pocahontas - meets Grandmother Willow and gains the ability to speak to many and all languages by 'Listen with your heart, you will understand', then is taught the compass of her heart will guide her on her destined path. Kairi is a bit jaded by fate, worried her fate was so changed that it hurt Sora and possibly other worlds. Grandmother Willow encourages her to continue what Sora started, and unlock worlds to save and restore them. Follow the connection of those both to Sora, and make new connections for Sora as well, from the friends she now makes. She helps fight in the war and helps Pocahontas to stop it. (Renewed spirit, a direction and sense of where to go and what to do.)

5. Treasure Planet - is convinced of black and white, villain and hero, before realizing that there is light in all things, and how much Jim sees John Silver as his mentor and friend... it breaks her heart, but she can't save Silver from turning into a heartless, defeating him, helping restore his heart, and watching him sacrifice himself so they can all escape. (Hearts are not pure light or darkness, and one can choose light and darkness. A heart can be redeemed)

7. Moana - her gummi ship transforms by help of the new technology from Chip and Dale, fights Kakamora, then finds Moana grabbing the heart back from the ocean. Helps her restore the heart after fighting the heartless verison of Te Fiti, Te Ka, and is determined to help Sora by returning his own heart... she feels ready now. (Reestablishes that she holds Sora's heart)

8. Finding Nemo - while in the dentist office, being told to take a seat for her appointment and being confused, Kairi overhears the fish talking about their escape plan. She turns around and admits she can help, which scares them at first that she can understand them. Minigames ensue with the fish tank and she helps them escape... hearing about Nemo's father and his unrelenting quest to find his son, she is once again touched and renewed that she will not quit her search for Sora... she believes in Riku, and again, with all her heart, wishes for both their safe returns, hoping he found Sora.

9. Jungle Book - hears Shere Khan's planning and before he reached the 'Man Cub', goes to fight him. He is determined to stop this 'Man Cub' from leaving the jungle... alive. She fights him but he gets away and so she fights the heartless Kaa. She overhears then the conversation between Baloo and Bagheera, and realizes she must return where she belongs... who exactly is she? She knows shes a princess of heart but... she decides to find out more about her past, telling Sora's heart she feels that's right to do, but she wont abandon her main quest.

10. Hollow Bastion - Some recompleted members of the old organization 13 remember Kairi's royal family, descendant of an ancient Keyblade lineage, and lived in the castle here, where the research was also conducted. She learns about the mysterious girl that Lea and Isa had known, and wonders... apparently, they reveal her father was from another world! (Hint that Kairi is possibly a Final Fantasy princess, and not a disney one!)

10. Wrought by the wrong done to her, but also glad she met Sora, she sees a terrible fire on a world and lands there. Meeting Bambi and his friends, she wonders why Bambi can keep fighting the fire and dog heartless while so injured. Hes searching for Faline, who hes twitterpatted for. She helps fight a hunter heartless and sees Bambi reunite with his true love. She decides then that although her destiny was altered, and she was taken from her family, she gained a new life, new friends, and now... a joined destiny with Sora. Bambi also recognizes her wayfinder, and she tells him shes twitterpatted for Sora. First time admitting it outloud, but it makes Bambi happy and prance around. Bad things happen, but love will always be a strong enough reason to continue on.

11. Frozen 2 - finds Christof, who trusts her once she confirms shes friends with Sora, and searches for Anna. Finds her after she loses Olaf, helps her lure the earth golems/giants to destroy the dam, and helps the angered, heartless spirits calm down when Elsa was frozen solid. When she returns, Kairi slowly steps away... she will do the next right thing, and gain her Mark of Mastery... then go to save Sora, or at least... find any way she can. No matter the darkness, she will do the next right thing.

12. Lion King 2 - Learns about love, how it casts no shadows and darkness cant remain in a heart filled with the power of love. Fights to end the lion war, and save Simba. She also tries to help Kiara save Zira... she then learns that some choose darkness, and refuse to be saved. Not that they cant be, but that they wont be... No matter how seeped in darkness one's heart is... light is always a choice, no matter what. Simba tells her he knows Sora, and that she reminds him a lot of Sora'a strength too. It encourages her to believe shes finally ready to take on her Master and be considered a keyblade master as well.

Land of Departure -

Kairi returns, talks about what shes learned and how Dumbo, Bambi, Simba, and Christof all recognized her as Sora's friend. She wonders if Sora's heart was sensed by them... the light it carries, and the connection they share as friends. Aqua shakes her head, saying it may be the case, but it's probably Kairi's own heart that formed those bonds of friendships with them. Shes saved so many worlds, reminded others of Sora's connection to them, and made it even stronger.

Not just that, Kairi has found her own strength and conviction in the process.

Last final boss, Master Aqua.

Kairi becomes a master, goes to the Nameless Star, and is finally ready to help Riku and find Sora, too!

Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile. The precious moments are all lost in the tide. They're swept away and nothing is what is seems. The feeling of belonging to your dreams…

Warnings: starts angsty (happy ending)

Vanitas’ Princess, feeling guilty, starts searching her heart for Sora’s whereabouts.

Y/N opens her eyes, seeing herself back at The Final World. She walks around for a bit before her head starts to hurt again. She closes her eyes, feeling an old memory return.

Sometime after Vanitas had found refuge in Y/N’s heart, she was visiting Radiant Garden. She was being chased by shadow monsters. She runs to the castle, but the gates were locked. She struggles to open it. She turns around, seeing a man in a lab coat walking towards her. She passes out as he grabs her.

She wakes up in a dimly lit room. She hears the man’s voice.

This world will be engulfed in darkness--everything you care about and everyone you love. If you truly possess the power of a princess of heart, your heart will resonate with a Keyblade wielder's, and I believe you can lead me to that wielder's world. That is the only possible way to save ours. You see, this is more than an experiment--it's hope. Like most, you probably believe that nothing exists outside of this world you live in. And yet, there are countless other worlds. You can see them sparkle brilliantly in the night sky. Through that sea of stars, fate will guide your ship to where you are meant to be.

She watches as he presses a few buttons on a device, the hatch of a pod closing her in as he continues talking.

However, if you arrive in a world that's neither of light nor darkness, but somewhere on the other side, your task will be far from easy. If that happens, you must abandon your search--we have failed.

She falls into a sleep as the pod takes her into another world. She didn’t meet up with another keyblade weirder, but she was protected by the keyblade wielder in her heart.

The memory ended and Y/N opens her eyes. A crystalline red star was floating in front of her. As she reached for it, the pieces shatter. She was able to grab one before running after the others.

She was able to retrieve 6 more shards. She feels that someone is watching her. She turns around, seeing a black coat. “Who are you? Show yourself.” She basically demanded. The hood is pulled down, showing Master Xehanort.

She summons Vanitas’ keyblade as Xehanort lifts his hand. “Not so fast, child.” He tells her. She glared at him. “You're the one who keeps messing with my fate. If it weren't for everything that you've done, then Sora and his friends would been fine.” She spat out in anger. “Even if you're not really here and this is just a memory or illusion... I won't let you walk away!” “You're right.” Xehanort responds.

“I set you adrift in another world and drastically altered the course of your fate. In the end you were destroyed by my hand, paving the way for Sora's disappearance.” He explains before the two were thrown into a fight. She swings at him a few times, only for him to easily dodge. He catches the keyblade in his hand, lifting her off the ground.

“For the princess of The Lost Kingdom, you’ve become quite the keyblade wielder.” Xehanort backhandedly compliments her. “The masked boy had trained you well. Even allowed you his own blade.” The keyblade vanishes as Xehanort flies up into the sky. Summoning the keyblade, she follows. Xehanort grabs her by the wrist, catching the keyblade in his other hand.

“This world was created by the memories of others that reside in your heart.” Xehanort explains to her. “You seek clues to Sora’s whereabouts by using everyone’s memories of him. To search through the pieces of their hearts that found their way into your own.” He pulls her forward as he continues. “But there’s nothing for you to find here. I’m afraid the answer you seek lies in your own memories. Too bad that the one you need is long gone.” The keyblade disappears again as Xehanort float down to the ground.

Y/N summons the blade again, following him. “I see why Vanitas hated you so much!” She yells at Xehanort. He keeps dodging her attacks until he summons his own keyblade, blocking her. With one swing, she was sent to the floor. Vanitas’ keyblade vanishes as Y/N stuggles to sit up.

Xehanort walks up to her, lifting his keyblade. He swings at her, but she feels her hand being lifted up and another keyblade appears in her hand. She looks up, noticing Sora’s keyblade. Xehanort steps back. “Ah, look who joined us.”

Another shard flies out of Xehanort and Sora grabs it. “Thank you, Sora.” She holds the shard close to her heart, closing her eyes. She smiles to herself.

“On the day that I sent you out from your world...” Xehanort started, making her eyes fly open. “Do you remember what it is I said to you? Those words hold the answer you seek. I may cause you and the one you hold dear to suffer, but I am a product of your hearts. For that reason, I shall give you your answer.” He starts glitching out in front of her, changing form…

Y/N blinks her eyes open. She looks around, seeing she’s in a lab. Looking over to the side, she sees Vanitas kneeling next to her, head bowed. He was holding her hand in both of his. She gently squeezes his hand, letting him know she was awake. He looks up, seeing her softly smile at him. The two pulled each other into a hug.

A plan was discussed between Y/N, Ansem, the apprentices, Riku, and The Fairy Godmother.They found where Sora was and Riku was sent to that side of reality. Y/N and Vanitas had left for The Land of Departure to help Terra, Aqua, and Ventus on their journey.

KIMIKO LORE DUMP

Death & the Afterlife

Kimiko's people do believe in a form of afterlife, whether that be a heaven/etc. But they have certain traditions and beliefs. One is that the stars that appear in night sky are windows to heaven, giving loved ones who have passed on a chance to look down and check in on their loved ones from beyond. Another is a lighting of lantern during a funeral, a lantern that is sent up into the sky. It is believed the lantern will help guide their souls to the heavens above. (Ryu helped make one for Brook in Thriller Bark to send up for his lost crew).

There also exists an Abyss that exists between life and death, any who get trapped there are condemned to eternal darkness, isolation and silence. (This is where Kimiko sends Kaito when she faces down the man who killed her parents).

The Forbidden Magics

There is only really three forbidden magics, each at varying levels. 3rd is Time Magic, no-one should meddle with the past or future regardless of intention. There is a natural destiny to things, whether that is certain or can be decided by an individual depends on personal belief. 2nd is Necromancy, no-one should bring back the dead. The natural balance of life and death should never be meddled with. (Kimiko mistakes Brook for a Necromancer when she first meets him). 1st is Curse Magic, magic that eats at all life, destroying it entirely with no hope of survival. It corrupts all who touch and use it.

The Elemental Elders

The Elemental Elders are the ancient and immortal elders, they each live as one within the four natural elements of the world (Fire, Earth, Air & Water). The names are as follows -

Kasai - the Fire Dragon, Male

Asami - the Water Dragon, Female

Sekai - the Earth Dragon, Female

Sora - the Air Dragon, Male

They don't interfere with the world, but they pass down their powers to each generation of the Cosmic Dragons, in particular the Hakuryu family. The powers lie in the brooches that both Kimiko and her uncle, Yoru have. Traditions were originally in place for everyone to receive a brooch, due to the persecution of the Cosmics the brooches were no long forged. With the brooches being passed down through the family instead, Himiko and Yoru receiving their parents, and Kimiko receiving Himiko's. The Elementals aren't revered as gods, but Kimiko and her people respect them greatly. Shrines for them exist, but they are meant as a means for Kimiko & her people to attempt to communicate with them for advice & guidance. But the Elders work in mysterious ways so direct communication is rare. Kimiko learns this as she is only able to reach out to them when she awakens her golden flame abilities.

On rare occasions dragons are born with the abilities of an elder (whether fire, earth, air or water). Like cosmic dragons they can change into a human form as well. They are treated as lords and ladies amongst magical kind, but they are extremely rare. Most of them have been eradicated much like the Cosmic Dragons.

Elemental Dragon shrines also exist in Wano. It's unclear why, but it's believed maybe Wano and the Isle of the Dragons shared aspects of the culture with one another. Many of Wano don't even known what the shrines are for. But Kimiko finds them and realises they are genuine due to matching symbols on her brooch. Perhaps there was some ancient treaties between the two kingdoms in the past.

Legends

Not much is known about the Cosmic Dragons, just that they once came down from the stars to share magic with the world. Their history much like the void century, lost to world.

The bearer of the golden flame is seen as the golden warrior. They are believed to one day play a part in liberating the world alongside the warrior of liberation.

The world disappears when they begin dancing.

All other sounds vanish, leaving only the music that leads them through their dance, and their laughter beautiful and sweet.

The people he’s just been chatting with cease to exist, his eyes drawn to their beautiful form as they work their way through the dance floor, taking a moment to twirl beside everyone she passes before moving on to the next person.

One by one they dance with them all. Their eyes light up when they see their dance partner approach them, and when they leave each of them carries themselves with a little more pride.

“Go,” A shoulder bumps against his, pulling his attention away from their beautiful form so he can stare at Kakashi. “You want to dance, right?”

“I do,” he confirmed. “But-”

Was it wrong, the way he felt?

Should he keep his distance rather than walk straight into what is so clearly a trap laid out just for him? 

“Go,” Kakashi lays a hand over his, a tender smile shining in his eyes. “I’ll be here when you’re done.”

“It’s alright?” his question is greeted with laughter, bright and cheerful. An intoxicating sound rings in his ears and wraps itself around his heart like a warm hug. Laughter is one of Gai’s favorite sounds, but there are few people in the world whose laughter can compare to Kakashi’s in his eyes. 

“It’s fine,” Kakashi assured him, giving his hand a squeeze for extra comfort before pulling back. “I’ll be here.” Placing his hand on Gai’s back, he gives him a little shove. Just enough so that he’s forced out of his seat. 

Once his feet are on the ground, Gai’s off. 

He walks with a brisk pace, terrified that if he doesn’t hurry he may miss them. they danced so quickly, after all, and never seemed to stop. If he can’t catch them before they move on to the next person, he may find himself standing in the middle of the dance floor all alone.

Not that he wouldn’t dance alone if it came to it. The music that Bee created was delightful, and even without a partner he could easily find himself following the beat across the dance floor. It wouldn’t be as smooth as the other God’s movements, but it would be fun.

“Hey!” A voice calls out, calling for the dancing god’s attention. “I think you have a willing partner!”

Kakashi’s voice. Gai recognizes it almost instantly, and he can’t help but turn to glare at his lover. The smile he’s greeted with is so wide that the Storm God’s eyes are closed, the edges crinkling upwards and leaving little indents in his skin. 

“Oh, hello,” dragging his eyes away from his lover, he’s greeted by another smile, this one a little bit smaller but no less dazzling. All of a sudden he feels a swarm of butterfly’s bursting to life in his stomach. “Gai, right?”

“Gai,” he nodded, finding it difficult to speak as he stared into their smooth brown eyes. The colors swirled around their pupil like a deep pool calling for him to lose himself in them forever. 

“Come on,” taking hold of his hand, they spun around and tugged him along behind them as they headed straight for the center of the dance floor. When they came to a stop, they turned to face him once again and grinned. “You know how to dance?”

“A bit,” he nodded. 

“You didn’t learn from Kakashi, did you?” their eyes darted toward the other god before quickly returning to Gai. “He has two left feet. That’s the mortal saying, right?”

“I didn’t learn from Kakashi,” he promised. “

“Good,” adjusting their hands, they slipped their fingers between Gai’s. “Ready?”

Before he could muster up the strength to respond, Gai found himself being led into the next dance. A slow side step to the left, followed by a step back, and then a step forward, and finally a step to the right so that they came back to the exact spot where they had begun.

A simple dance that was easy for him to follow, and after a few more rounds he noticed that he was no longer being guided through each step, but was following his dancing partner's lead with ease.

“You are a good dancer,” they declared before leading him into a half spin. 

“Is it really that surprising?”

“You never know,” pulling him along, they spun around with such a boisterous laugh that Gai couldn’t help but throw his head back and laugh along with her. His time as a god had been short, but every moment he’d spent clinging close to Kakashi’s side, feeling a wave of calm washing over him every time he grabbed Kakashi’s hand or laid his head on his lap.

The sensation he experienced now was completely different.

There was no tranquility in their movements, but rather a rambunctiousness that Gai hadn’t realized he’d been missing. Kakashi was tranquillity and peace, but they were something different.

Something that made his feet travel a little faster and his hands hold on a little tighter, as if they were going to disappear at any moment and he had to cling to them to keep them at his side.

“Sora!” They called out as the two of them danced their way around the crowded floor. 

His heart pounded in his chest. “Sora?”

“My name,” chuckling, they released their grip on his left hand and quickly ducked under his arm for a twirl. As they completed the twirl, coming to a perfect stop right in front of him with their eyes glimmering with excitement, he couldn’t help but beam.

“Sora,” he repeated, feeling the weight of the name on his tongue. 

It made sense. 

To fall in love with a scarecrow meant stability. It came with a sense of security in the knowledge that his lover would never disappear on him, and Kakashi so perfectly matched his name.

Sora was no different. Falling in love with the sky didn’t come with stability, but it came with freedom. It felt like gravity had vanished and he’d begun falling straight towards the clouds, with nothing to grab onto.

Not that he wanted to stop himself from falling. The sky was exciting. It was forever changing and always moving. The sky he looked at today was completely different from the one he had laid his eyes upon just yesterday, and tomorrow’s sky would be equally unique. 

“You done dancing?” They asked, eyes focused on him as they slowed to a stop. “Or are you just distracted?”

“Neither,” he answered with surprising ease, his eyes flickering over their shoulder to Kakashi who now seemed to be in deep conversation with the Goddess of the Ocean, though he still managed to catch Gai’s gaze and offered that closed-eyed smile that Gai had fell in love with the first moment he saw it.

Not just once, either. No, he’d fallen in love with it in every single lifetime, from the beginning of time to the moment he opened his eyes as a newly born God and was greeted by a warm, kind smile. 

“Oh?” Sora glanced over their shoulder and waved toward Kakashi, giggling when he immediately waved back. “Do you want to go back?”

“Not now,” his fingers curled around Sora’s, holding onto them for just a bit longer. “I’m good here.”

His Scarcrow would wait. he always had, no matter how many times or how long Gai left him standing there alone in an empty field. The sky was fleeting, though. As soon as he released his hold it would disappear and there was no guarantee he’d ever be able to reach it again. So, he held on. He clung to that beautiful sky, with its swirls of brown staring back at him. 

“Good,” their smile grew, stretching from one ear all the way to the other. Pulling him along, they led him into another spin and laughed when he tightened his grip on their hands.

❝ No peeking! ❞ If he’d make due on that promise, the sound of waves and Kairi’s voice would take up the whole of his senses. Hand in hand she guides him along with promises of ❝ almost theeere! ❞ and then?

❝ Okay open! ❞

There would be revealed a raft, tied to the shore as it drifts lazily in the ocean breeze. Kairi joining Riku at his side to present to Sora his birthday gift. ❝ Tadaa, we finished the raft for you! ❞ Kairi chimes, only for Riku to put a hand to his hip and raise his brow dubiously. ❝ We??? ❞

She laughs sheepishly, ❝ weeeell... I didn’t come completely empty handed! ❞ Hopping onto the raft she pulls free something hanging from the mast, to which is eagerly offered up to Sora upon returning to his side. ❝ Can’t be a captain without a captain hat, right? ❞ Which it indeed was! One handmade by the princess of crafts herself. 

❝ No objections, right, Riku? ❞ 

❝ I dunno... ❞

❝ Riku! ❞

❝ I’m kidding. ❞ He gives Sora a pat on the shoulder. ❝ Whaddya’ say, Sora? You get a whole birthday to boss us around out in sea. ❞

❝ And this time we packed more food! ❞ Kairi adds, giving Sora those dreamy eyes. ❝ We can take our time and just be together in the moment. ❞

"Kaiiii, y'know how hard these kinda surprises are for me! Doubly so when I have an idea of where we are." The words were drawn with falsified stubbornness and he enjoys it. Feeling this familiar part of the Sky drawn a golden glint upon them, allowing a phenomenal sense of life to stir alongside of her voice, just a glance towards the keybearer would reveal that impossible hide smile.

Whenever it comes to Kairi and Riku, happiness is as intrinsic as breathing to him.

Thus the scale of trust he holds within them is immutable. His fingers remained attentive and certain as they squeezed her's, following the route until the saccharine nature of her voice prompts him to let the darkness be abated for the sight of light, a clear and concise vision that almost causes his vibrant heart to crash into a thunderous pause within his chest. Another sound of fresh waves rolls lazily along the shore of Destiny Islands as it wasn't just Sora standing here anymore at this moment.

Kairi was there. Riku and that 'insufferably' fond expression were as well. Yet, a secret visitor amidst their ranks would be the invisible glint of a younger Sora, a trick upon the light as his expression vividly matches the present as he steps forward. Any words that try to be forged from language are stalled, only for his emotion to ring clear above all else, pure power now running at the nostalgic wish turned into reality.

Their banter was a sweet frosting to just add completion to the moment at hand. As his lips wobbled shamelessly, reflecting the scale of what such an intimate effort this was for him, he could only stumble closer as the measure of logs, woodwork and sail tying was an entirely different level than their times rife with inexperience, despite the very big dreams they carried.

"G.. Guys.. th.. this all of this is..

How could anyone just not feel loved due to the efforts displayed?

Witnessing the way they batted between each other, how even the bravado eased up as earnest gifts, a promise of an adventure he always wanted to have with them now genuinely within hands reach... It was impossible for the warm tears to resist spilling, from his voice to hitch from the swell of appreciation that wracked his heart with unstoppable reverberations. Even as his vision blurs, never before did he feel so weightless on his feet, so certain of what the desires in his heart wanted to do.

The three of them, holding not a single thing back in molding their wish by their own hands.

Before any worry could truly settle in, the soft hitches of his breath ease into laughter, belly deep and liberating as even as his eyes refused to let the hot tears subside. All that they suffered, all that they endured, learned and grew, and right now it'd be upon this very beach that one of his most bitter acceptances was turned completely on his head.

Within mere seconds as he wiped briefly at his eyes, there would be no hesitation for Riku, Kairi and that Captain's hat to be immediately tackled as his arms filled with such strength pulled them close. His heart wished to resonate with theirs', to allow the depth of this joy that allows such power to flock within his heart to be realized. To know they're here, solid and warm, enduring and still managing to be so kind..

He didn't give a single care that he proceeded to get them tear stained.

"You guys are the best!"

After all, he will always be their Sora.

"One Sky" concept (AU)

As a big Kingdom Hearts fan, I wanted to hypothesize a situation where all the locations Sora goes to are all in the same world, albeit with original characters and unique interactions. I call it the “One World” concept, but “One Sky” is also cool:

Hollow Bastian–A Japanese-inspired country that’s capital is Radiant Garden. Destiny Islands are islands off the coast and considered a territory that is a part of the country. After fleeing her kingdom, Belle joins Anselm the wise’s reseach group made up of his apprentices. Moana is a tour guide for Destiny Islands, and helps hide the existance of merpeople. Final Fantasy characters also live in the country (frequently visiting Traverse Town, a magical safehaven many characters escape to during the series), and Twilight Town is also part of the nation, albeit close to the capital. The Land of Departure is seen as a semi-mythical location, albeit part of the country. Most of the Disney-inspired locations are now modern, high-fantasy settings. San Fransokyo has close ties to Hollow Bastian due to many immigrants having moved to SF.

No decades-old or centuries-old plotlines. Many events that occured actually happened recently, including Terra’s corruption, along with Elrena and Lauriam becoming nobodies. The wayfinder trio are sacred guardians of Radiant Garden, but they are defeated when Xehanort saps away Ventus’ darkness, creating Vanitas and weakening Ventus, brainwashing Terra, and banishing Aqua to the realm of darkness. It’s only then that Eraqus alerts Yen Sid, who seeks out Kairi, Sora, and Riku.

Seven hearts plot–I’d make the roster mostly the same, albeit replace Alice with Ariel. It’s explained that several of the seven hearts had their worlds sealed off to protect them from being used for evil. The new seven hearts consist of Kairi, Elsa, Anna, Rapunzel, Moana, Pocahontas, and Tiana. (I do also have an alternate secondary roster of Ventus, Bruno, Mulan, Sisu, Quasimodo, Hercules, and Giselle). When the time comes, they actually gift Sora and friends with keyblades that are magically connected to their hearts, allowing them to battle through the keyblade wielders.

Disney villains–This is up to preference. Yzma and Dr. Faciliar are the villains of a country inspired by North and South America, using the power of darkness to steal hearts. In this version, Yzma is much closer to her Kingdom of the Sun counterpart. Maleficent and Ursula also serve as villains, with Maleficent trapping fallen kingdoms in thorns and Ursula seeking to take over the sea. Jafar, Governor Ratcliffe, and Judge Frollo serve as manipulative villains in plain soght, controlling the masses in order to summon their inner darkness (kind of like Almeidrea from “Tales of Arise”).

Organization XVII–In my mind, they aren’t villains so much as antiheroes. Xemnas is a part of Xehanort that he cast away, making him resentful and desperately craves to be whole again, taking Vanitas under his wing, being a father figure to him, Saix, Axel, Roxas, Xion, Marluxia, Larxene, and Zexion–much to Vexen’s jealousy. The rest of the nobodies research matters of the heart as well as light and darkness, though the few Disney villains who are a part of the team (Lady Tremaine, Shan Yu, the Horned King, Gaston, the Evil Queen and her mirror) continually try to manipulate the nobodies, who, devoid of their hearts–or so they believe–crave the ability to feel and belong. In fact, several of them attempt to carve out lives in the human world. This is how Belle manages to stay in contact with Vexen and Zexion in order to better help them restore their hearts without harming anyone. This is the OG O13 roster, along with Xion, Terra, Vanitas, and a reluctant Namine. The Disney villains aren’t counted as part of the roster, working moreso as associates since they aren’t nobodies.

Kairi has bigger involvement–When Sora saves her, she secretly follows him on his journey to find Riku, though O13 continually tries to deter her. She manages to find Sora, albeit after his encasement to restore his memories, and journeys with Riku until KH2. As the series goes on, Namine’s ability to manipulate memories grows stronger, allowing her to restore the memories of the O13 members.

Three Xehanorts (okay four)–I think a human, heartless, and nobody form of Xehanort work just fine. Ignoring the “new vessel” concept of Terra, Xehanort instead just curropts Terra, making him believe in Xehanort’s vision after Terra loses faith in Eraqus when he attempts to kill Ventus. After being brainwashed, Terra kills Eraqus, and he momentarily suffers a breakdown, being rescued by Xemnas and joining the Organization, albeit becoming a bit of a dangerous, broken recluse due to fighting for control.

The Foreteller cult–I do love the deep mythology of the series, albeit less complicated. Following the defeat of Xehanort, Riku absorbs Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, and Xemnas gains a heart of his own. As such, they recall ancient knowledge that Xehanort knew of regarding deities that embodied light and darkness. Xehanort’s death sparked a powerful surge of people who could summon keyblades, with the foretellers, people who claim to be protectors of the light, becoming their leaders, claiming to want to save the world from impending darkness, a stark contrast from the man who wanted to destroy and remake the world. However, Sora and his friends can’t help but feel as though something sinister is bubbling under the surface…

Worlds I’d include in some way, shape or form: Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, The Black Cauldron, the renaissance-era films, Kingdom of the Sun/Emperor’s New Groove, Atlantis, revival-era films, Enchanted, The Incredibles, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Inside-Out.
