Heartbeat || Eddie Guerrero x Reader
Summary: You try to calm Eddie down after he loses his match.
Eddie stormed backstage after a particularly tough loss in the ring. His usually vibrant smile was nowhere to be seen, replaced by a fierce scowl that sent shivers down the spines of those who crossed his path.
You had been waiting for him, concern etched across your face. As he rushed through the curtain, he barely registered your presence, his focus consumed by his frustration. He thought you were just another interviewer, another person wanting to dissect his defeat.
But you knew him better than that.
With determination, you followed him into his locker room, not allowing him to brush you off. You placed your hand gently on his chest, just above his heart, effectively stopping him in his tracks.
"Hey," you said softly, your voice filled with genuine concern. "Eddie, it's me."
He blinked, as if waking from a trance, and finally met your eyes. The anger still smoldered within him, but it was tempered by the recognition of your presence.
You guided him to sit down on one of the benches, keeping your hand on his chest. That's when you felt it, the rapid and erratic thumping beneath your palm.
"Aye," you whispered, your worry deepening. "Your heart is beating so fast right now, baby."
Eddie took a deep breath, his fiery temperament momentarily giving way to vulnerability. He leaned into your touch, his gaze locked onto yours.
"I hate losing," he admitted, his voice raw with emotion.
You nodded, understanding the passion that burned within him, the desire to always give his best. You leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead, your hand still resting on his chest.
"I know, my love," you reassured him. "But you're more than just your wins and losses. You're Eddie, my Eddie, and you're amazing no matter what."
His tense shoulders relaxed, and the anger that had gripped him began to ebb away. He leaned into your touch, resting his head against your chest as you held him close. In that moment, your presence alone was enough to soothe his troubled heart.
Together, you sat there, his racing heart gradually slowing to a steadier rhythm. It didn't matter that he had lost the match; what mattered was that he had you, a source of unwavering support and love, by his side.
In your embrace, Eddie found solace, and the anger that had consumed him faded into the background, replaced by the warmth of your love and understanding.
