a/n: wrote this really fast right before i had my English exam [which i aced] so enjoy this one while i go celebrate :) enjooooy

i wrapped my hair up in a towel and put on a robe.

when i stepped out of the bathroom, i heard a knock from downstairs.

i put on my slippers and went down. when i opened the door, he was standing there.

“oh..” he looked me up and down. “i’m sorry. i had nothing to do and came earlier.” he laughed awkwardly and scratched the back of his neck.

i could feel myself getting red.

“come in.” i bit my lip.

i closed the door and shook my head as his back was turned to me.

“to get a head start.” he said as i walked him over to the dining table.

“of course.” i said. “uh, just give me a few minutes. i’ll be right back.”

he nodded and sat down. i practically ran up the stairs.

“shit.” i yanked the towel off of my head.

i went over to my dresser, sliding on a clean underwear and putting on a bra. i took off my robe and grabbed a pair of black sweats and a random crewneck.

after quickly blow drying my hair, i grabbed my things and went downstairs.

“i’m so sorry.” i said, sitting down on the chair next to him.

''naurr, i'm sorry.'' he said, his thick Australian accent coming through. ''i have a tendency to show up early to things without warning. i should have called.''

i just nodded.

''let's get started?'' he raised an eyebrow at me.

''yeah.''

long story short, i'm failing entry level Korean.

my teacher reached out to my parents and he said Chan could tutor me. since he's also fluent in English. at first i denied the help, but my mother insisted. and now, he's here.

i opened my Korean textbook to the first page.

there was a list of basic vocabulary and some practice sentences at the bottom of it.

''so, what is it you're having trouble with?''

''everything.'' i scoffed.

''how come?''

''because mr. Lee is so boring and i just can't pay attention to anything that goes on in class. i just don't like Korean. at all.''

he looked at me like i insulted him.

''no offence.'' i reassured.

why did i just say that? he's literally Korean, and trying to help me pass this class. idiot.

''none taken.'' he said. ''do you at least know what yes and no are?''

''네 and 아니요.''

''good.'' he said. ''let's just start with a simple introductory sentence.''

i nodded.

''repeat after me.''

''alright.''

the way the words fell so smoothly and perfectly from his lips practically made me drool.

1.08.2024 — I studied way too hard for the chapter and vocabulary quiz. I went page by page and studied the entire chapter, basically running through the little tasks on each page twice. Then I watched the week’s lecture and realized that only the first two pages were covered. 💀 The whole chapter is about the place marker 에. It covered how to say where a place is, how to ask where something is, and how to give basic directions by adding words like 안 (inside) or 옆 (side).

It took my approximately 6 minutes to do the chapter quiz and 2 minutes to do the vocab, and that was me double checking and taking my time... I’m not mad at easy quizzes, not at all, but I feel slightly deceived lol. Like why did I spend my entire weekend and some of today studying the entire chapter?

I’ll probably still continue reviewing the entire chapter for the week as we continue on, because I want to learn as much as I can this quarter.

I sent an email to my 교수님 with a question about how to say the opposite of [noun] is here, so [noun] isn’t here, because the textbook only gave examples of the first, and she gave me a really detailed and informative response, so I appreciated that.

If you’re curious, the textbook example goes like this:

Q: 여기가 인사동이에요? Is this Insadong?

A: 네, 여기가 인사동이에요. Yes, this is Insadong.

I wanted to know how you'd structure the no version of this, specifically where you'd put the 가/이 marker and if you needed to add the 는/은 marker.

Basically, you could word it a couple ways and it would still be correct, but she told me Koreans typically use the 는/은 marker when answering questions.

So, this would be the no answer to the above question: 아니요, 여기는 인사동이 아니에요. You could leave out the "no" I assume, as the end of the sentence signals the "no."

M/n only ever wants to bond with his brother. M/n was adopted two years ago, when he was 15. He already illegally changed his name by then. The evidence of his past life gone. But now he lives in Korea with adoptive parents. How he got away with the crimes? He wasn't sure himself. On the other hand, his brother just never saw the reason to create a conversation. Even if M/n was his adopted sibling. The reason for speaking to M/n was never clear.

But enough about your tiny backstory, let's move on to the present and future moments of your life.

The boy in the mask stares at the small building in front of him. He has been working here for two years, and he is already exhausted. He didn't want to do this with his life. He wanted to be a singer, a dancer, and maybe even a model if everything else didn't work out. He even applied at JYP Entertainment and they didn't reply. That was 4 years ago. Now M/n is forced to work in his parents stupid gas station. The only good part about this job is when his friends came in, or when his older brother actually spoke to him.

He sighs and moves forward. M/n opens the gas station door, the bell ringing. He gets behind the counter and hides his back pack. He looks around for Justin, his older brother, but puts his name tag on when he couldn't find him. He didn't want to look for him. There was no reason to. M/n stands there bored as he looks around the shop. He grabs his phone out of his pocket and starts to texts with his friends about how boring it was in the store.

How he wished they would all come and see him. But they all shut it down because they were busy or just too lazy. M/n rolls his eyes and puts on his playlist for the store. He never liked Justin's music. And it's not like Justin has the confidence to stop him. M/n subtly dances to the vibe of the song and sings along quietly.

His voice muffled by his mask even while whispering. He stops and turns the music down slightly when two older men walk in, "안녕하세요! (Hello!)" M/n greets them as he waves lightly. The two men waving back, their hats low and their faces covered by masks as well. He watches as they look and grab snacks and drinks. He analyzes their features slowly, 'why do I feel like I know them?'. M/n questions himself before he looks away.

He realized he probably looked like a creep staring so hard. They start to talk in English about what their other friends could want, and if they should even get them anything since they didn't come. M/n bites his cheek as he hears them start to talk about the store and him. They compliment how clean and spotless the whole store is. Then they slowly start to compliment the young man's looks. The men thinking the boy couldn't understand what they were saying.

M/n's face turning as red as a tomato. He didn't understand why they were complimenting him. M/n keeps his gaze down as the men start to walk up to the counter. He looks up and smiles, but the mask covering his face. The men smile back, "이게 다야? (Is this all?)" M/n asks politely as he begins to ring up the items. The men nodding, "네. 저기요, 제가 전화번호 좀 알려드려도 될까요? (Yes. Hey, do you mind if I get your number?)" The tallest of the two asks. His face red but his face covered with his mask as well.

M/n stops walking once he finished reading the email. Why would JYP Entertainment email him 4 years later? M/n blinks twice before he looks at the time, his eyes widening. 2:01 p.m.! 'Oh my god!' He thought before he ran in the direction of the large building. His hands pulling up the directions as he runs. After fifteen minutes he finally makes it to the front of the building. Can I just like reschedule or something?" M/n states, apologizing for his behavior. She looked at the screen of his computer. She reads the message about what the meeting is about before she shakes her head. "How about I let you with him now? He is in a meeting, but he said he wanted to see you whether it be earlier or later." She explains.

"I'll lead you up to his office." She told him before exiting from behind the desk. He follows behind her quickly. They get in the elevator before they stop in the top floor and walk to the end of the hallway. "Here we go." She states before she knocks on the door. "Sir? We have your 2 o'clock here!" She said through the door before she opens it. She smiles at the boss and the eight boys across from him. "Thank you Mrs. Lee." JYP nods his head.

M/n stares at the man in shock before his gaze moves to the eight men across from him. 'Holy shit' he thinks to himself. He flinches slightly when he immediately sees JYP standing in front of him. "H-Hello?" M/n bows slightly. His eyes locked on JYP in surprise. JYP smiles at him nicely before he looks at the men sitting at the long table. "This is the boy I was talking about! He's amazing, you guys will love each other." JYP smiles.

M/n gulps when he sees the handsome faces staring at him, "Hi? Wait- why am I here?" M/n asks JYP. JYP chuckles before shaking his head, "oh I'm sorry, this is the star group Stray Kids, and we are trying to get them another member. I saw your email from those few years ago and you were AMAZING!" M/n was so confused and worried. He was worried what his parents would think. He looks between the groups and JYP. JYP looks hesitant but nods along with M/n's assumption. M/n clears his throat and nods, "uh, can I think about it?" He whispers. JYP stares at him before shaking his head, "No. I'm sorry. We need you to answer now." JYP explained. M/n opens his mouth before shutting it.

Bangchan stands up and grabs JYP's shoulder, "Can we at least give him a couple minutes? You're putting a lot of pressure on him." Bangchan asks as his eyes stare at M/n with a slight look of familiarity. JYP nods, "Fine. 20 minutes." He says before he sits in his chair and lets the men and boy leave. M/n sits on the floor outside the office in thought. For the thousandth time in his life he didn't know what to do.

The day was nearing the afternoon, and Kiwo still slept peacefully in the bedroom. Yoongi only knew this from the direct line of sight into the bedroom from the living room where he sat. While on what must have been his third cup of black coffee, he relaxed on the couch browsing the news on his phone while he sipped away. 

The quiet was quite enjoyable. 

Today was a rare day when Yoongi had nothing important to do. He wasn’t sure exactly how Kiwo would react to the change in pace, but by the looks of it, she was enjoying it too. Very rarely could she get the chance to sleep in so late. 

The pitter-patter of small feet drew Yoongi out of his thoughts. Soon enough Kiwo appeared in the doorway, eyes still half closed and one of Yoongi’s shirts falling off of her left shoulder. She rubbed her eyes with a fisted hand, trying to rid her eyes of sleep. She looked sleepy still, but absolutely beautiful. 

“Good morning, sleepyhead,” Yoongi said with a smile. He placed his coffee on the coffee table and patted the spot on the couch next to him. “Come cuddle.”

”Wha’ time issit?” She asked voice slurred with sleep. She looked absolutely out of it, still half asleep and drowsy. 

“11:45, now come here.”

Kiwo yawned before dragging her feet over to the couch and plopping down next to Yoongi. Wrapping his arms around her waist, Yoongi placed Kiwo on his lap.

“이것은 뭐에요?” Yoongi asked, pointing to Kiwo’s leg. She stared for a while, deep in thought, while gently kicking her feet.

”아니요.” Yoongi shook his head in disappointment. “Kiwo, you know this stuff.”

”코,” Kiwo said, pointing to Yoongi’s nose. “눈, 귀, 입.”

Yoongi smiled as Kiwo named off different parts of his face. She was at least learning something. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before tapping her side, indicating for her to get up. She slid off his lap and onto the seat next to him. 

“Is there anything you want to do today?” Yoongi asked, running a hand through Kiwo’s tangled hair. She leaned into the touch, her eyes closing in bliss. It was weird, Yoongi thought, just how much her affection and tolerance for him changed depending on the hour. Hell, just last night Kiwo tried to kill him with her bare hands. Yoongi would pay obscene amounts of money to truly understand what goes through Kiwo’s silly head. 

Kiwo shrugged her shoulders. “Whatever you wanna do,” she said. 

“Let’s hang out at Seokjin’s again. I don’t think Jimin should be there today.” Yoongi noticed the subtle glare Kiwo sent his way. 

“How about no.” Grabbing Kiwo gently by the chin, Yoongi made direct eye contact with the young girl. 

“Sass isn’t cute, Kiwo. We’re going.”

Kiwo’s eyes widened in fear for a moment before a mischievous grin appeared on her face. She knelt down on the ground in between Yoongi’s legs, resting the side of her face against Yoongi’s thigh.

그러니 같은 교회에 다니며 연륜이 오래되거나 직분이 높다고 기도에 응답이 오는것도 아니요 구원받은것도 아닙니다 중요한건 내 삶의 주인이 누구인가가 중요 한거죠

전 어차피 모든것을 내려 놓았기에 매장에 배달이 오면 오나보다 매출이 좋으면 좋은가보다 ..무조건 땡큐 입니다

매장애 손님이 없으면 몸이 편하니 좋고

매장이 바쁘면 수입이 좋으니 좋고 ..

어제는 예배가 좀 늦개 끝나서 집에 오는데 사단이 그러더라구요 ..
