This was a while ago in the comic, so I understand if you don't prioritize answering this, but I keep missing the ask period. Anyway, the question: if the redness of red souls doesn't come from determination, why does Kris having less determination correspond to their soul being pink, i.e., less red?

Unrelated: I love the comic, and I like to think that Lesslo has the texture of a Gumby/Pokey toy, so I imagine bending him in half to fit him in a backpack so I can gift the little freak to the slimeyest preschool class in the world. ❤

The text box hearts actually don't represent their souls. Their souls look completely different from those. But we'll see that later down the line. In this story determination acts more like a power source FOR the soul, rather than an actual soul trait itself. The lighter pink text box heart came from a glitch in the brush I used to make them. The saturation kept getting lighter and lighter, and the whole thing just stuck. In the lore, it does come from Kris lacking the determination, but in reality it's just supposed to make it easier to tell who's talking.

alear i threw in cuz i wanted to try drawing her funky hair. the design is growing on me (i don’t hate it nearly as much as i did when it was first revealed) but it’s hard 😭 curse intricate patterns, the bane of my lineart existence. made me remember why i altered the other girls’ designs in the first place. when i play engage and end up growing attached to its lord maybe i’ll get better at drawing the fit (i haven’t played engage yet and i plan to eventually. absolutely no engage spoilers in the notes please)

i know robin looks…. very different! if you’re at all interested in that fiasco i have a fat hc post dedicated to that fucking tactician somewhere in my page (here ya go). but the hcs i’ve stapled on her have made her drastically different and that’s how i like it! 😤

might do the male counterparts of these 4 eventually, though their redesigns i have for them are nowhere near as interesting (male robin and byleth are basically the same as their in-game counterpart). but again, perchance. hope you like em~

HI EVERYONE HERE'S THE LONG ASS POST EXPLAINING MY LIGHTNER RALSEI AU

so basically in this au ralsei isn't the prince of the dark, he's just some kid (part boss monster part shadow monster). i already explained how he ended up in the adoption center here. that's basically the premise 0_0

susie and him are close buddies because they were in the same adoption center and susie became protective over him because the other kids made fun of him. over time they became like siblings so they never managed to get adopted because they didn't want to go if they couldn't go together, and since they were very different species there weren't any parents who were able to take care of both. so eventually they just ran away and are now living in hometown.

they've been in hometown for two years (currently they're both 16) so they aren't that new............ they're not really friends with anyone but That's Subject To Change.

(they live in one of the apartments in the complex, the landlord let them stay because people just Didn't move to hometown anymore. they just help them clean and go grocery shopping for them (i still have to decide who the landlord is lol) in exchange for the house. also as soon as they got old enough they started doing little jobs (susie helps at 'sans, ralsei helps at the flower king) so they're "basically fine" (no they're not))

susie really disliked kris at first because they had a happy loving family, but then learned that there's more to them... they're also a huge dweeb

since ralsei isn't in the dark world anymore there's someone else in castle town, his name is earlis and he's made out of a heart shaped locket that kris lost as a kid. he's rude to anyone who isn't part of the prophecy and is hopelessly in love with kris (despite only knowing them for two days...) which kris finds a bit weird but. they still want to be friends. earlis especially hates ralsei because he's not even part of the prophecy, and yet kris treats him with basic respect and even finds his dark world powers cool?!?!? FOR SHAME!!!! susie's part of the prophecy so he doesn't necessarily dislike her, he just hates the people she associates with....

his character arc over the chapters would involve him learning to be less judgemental and overcome his Darkner Struggles. also he will be friends with everyone and become less of an asshole

in chapter two he makes rooms for everyone except ralsei, for whom he places a dog bed inside susie's room. one day he will give him a normal bed

ABOUT THE DARK WORLD!!!!!!

ralsei's still a wizard of sorts, but he's more of an evil shadow man you know. he uses shadow magic which is useful for putting enemies to sleep in one way or another (spooooookyyyyyyy).. kris thinks it's cool. susie also thinks it's cool. everyone thinks it's cool except earlis.

earlis's magic is basic bard abilities, he has a heart shaped string instrument which he can use to heal or hypnotize ET CETERA ET CETERA

susie and kris don't change much lol

sooz and rals go with lancer while earlis goes around with kris, acting like a shoujo protagonist ("omg kris you're giving the ribbon to me????? do you think i would look cuter.." "your defense is shit") and he encourages pacifism (just to make r & s sound like Brutal Evil Killars) despite being the world's biggest violence fan. he is a bit of a hypocrite

everything goes about as well as you can imagine but at some point susie and ralsei have a conversation about the whole sooz being overprotective thing. ralsei says he's not five anymore and can defend himself pretty well and susie apologizes for her behavior 💔😢 they firends. sbiblings

in ralsei's room in queen's castle he has pixelated kittens from his search "kittycat pixel gif", "minecrap cat gif", "pixel gif cat" etc... a poster of a goth band from "disintegration album streaming free", and a list of names taped to the wall from "names that start with ral" (hes trying 2 find his parents...)

earlis doesn't have a room. he becomes a butler 👻

Anon, ouch! That video—he was so exhausted; it felt like a precursor to the “this movie feels like a real movie” interview in Venice last fall—was packed with him trying to dodge answers about vulnerable songs. Awww, buddy.

A couple things about Perfect:

- It’s a co-write. There are sections that are (so very obviously) written by H, while others are written by LT. Some of the phrasing around being a flaky partner is wording that H never really uses when he writes.

- that said, H does have a collab with Jack on Alfie’s Song and it’s parenthetical title is “Not So Typical Love Song”. Kind of like how he describes this.

- this is the era he is writing Two Ghosts (which he holds for HS1), and perhaps also starts work on Hunger. He is really not certain what she wants, or how to move forward. In the past, he had agreed to be one of her many options (as described in JALBOYH). This songs feels like he thinks she wants that again. Like he’s throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks?

So, maybe Blondie was put off by this? But look at some of his solo write lyrics on this very same album:

And YB - high above the whole scene. Seemingly well-adjusted with a low key vibe, on the cusp of becoming the next big thing as an actor. Much less risk. A breath of fresh air at the time.

Except…we all know how the whole thing plays out: weak, mediocre man ultimately becomes resentful of Blondie and tries to make her small. Man, I hate that guy!

That was SO harsh and I can totally see why jade was so heartbroken. I had to reread ch1 and 2 after the fight scene because it puts a different lens on things for me now. Like jade initiating that hug at the bookstore was really mature of her but even more so now and her emotions getting those texts from kit and during the angry sex hits differently. I thought jade was being too harsh before but nope, not anymore.

Definitely living up to your angst rep, Kris. I'm still reeling from all the emotions, I feel like I got punched in the feels from so many different angles lol. And i LOVE it!!

From the angry sex with some jealousy (the tapping code was such a nice touch too), the kit spiral with airk, the jade spiral with jade, the pia, kit and eclipse cuteness, the fight whatthefuckness, the gaslit solved mysteries of pia, scorpia, uncle dad and jade's job, the freaking thank you for breaking up with me and this is kit 🥺💔 I can't wait to see how kit is gonna win back jade and alllll the other angst and fluff and slick along the way.
