i have this fic series i'm still working on where mihawk sort of becomes rayleigh's kid and spends ages 11-17ish on the oro jackson.

I just remembered about the existence of the Supergirl Special #1 and I got annoyed again. So now I shall copy and paste the review I left in comic geeks.

Perhaps Mariko Tamaki should stay away from Kara. I’m yet to read a good Supergirl story from her. I get that this story has some message about girlhood somewhere in these pages, but it poses an issue Kara has never had. She has never felt like she’s falling behind. That’s not a part of her character. So why use her to tell this story?

Another problem I have is her risking the lives of innocent people, and for what? Because she is jealous of Karen? She’d never do something like that. Helping people has always been her number one priority. And she’d never be jealous of someone else. Especially someone who had their entire charm assassinated by Leah Williams.

Kara can be arrogant and stubborn sometimes, yes, but not in the way it’s presented here. She is arrogant and stubborn in the sense she wants to save everyone and would never stop, even if she’s on the brink of death. Call it the indomitable kryptonian spirit, if you will. Call it stupid stubbornness, if you will. But it is who Kara is. Sometimes she can feel like she’s the only one who can do what it needs to be done, to save the people who need saving, and yes, it is arrogant, but the reason she feels so is because she can’t have anyone dying on her watch. Those “toxic” traits of her come from a place of selflessness and compassion, not jealousy. Everything she is, it comes from a place of selflessness and compassion. She suffered so much in her life, you better believe she’d do everything in her power and more to make sure no one else has to suffer the same way she did.

Kara is a competent woman who knows what she is doing. She’s confident and strong. Phillip Kennedy Johnson once described her as always being “the smartest person in the room”. It still baffles me how DC turned PKJ’s Supergirl pitch down, but green lit this.

It’s been half a year and somehow, I hate this more than the day it came out. Perhaps, it’s because this is last Supergirl thing DC published and it was last year. It’s never too late to let PKJ write her, you know.

He is so baby-faced. He hasn't changed at all since he was 22, to when he died of "old age" at 40

He has tiny eyebrows. Like a puppy's (rottweiler's, for example). So cute and tiny and fuffy

He naturally frowns. Look at him and his mouth and his lil nose

He has a thing about keeping his arms near his chest. He sits with his arms crossed, introduces himself with his hands over his torso, and even walks with his arms crossed toward Midoriya

He has such clear skin for someone who lived the rest of his life in a forest??? Why do Hikage and Yoichi have such nice skin despite living in terrible environments? (forest and vault + abandoned streets respectively)

Is easily scared

They knew their Quirks could be used, but Shinomori got scared of it when it happened. Even though he gave Midoriya his support and access to his Quirk beforehand. Depending on the translation; "it startled me", "you scared me", "it surprised me"

I'm not going to hold running from AFO against him because he knew he was running for his life. Who wouldn't run for their life when it's in danger? Shinomori was being chased by the strongest person in the country (and likely the world)

His sense of self-preservation is probably heightened by the nature of his Quirk to keep him out of danger too. Which makes him all the more sensitive and jumpy to danger and anything that startles him, especially when he has no warning

He's actually extremely tall, but is so socially inept and jumpy it's adorable. He's taller than Bruce.

Bruce is as tall as a vault door that the 2m AFO used.

It's also adorable how Shinomori just doesn't understand social conventions sometimes. He lived in a forest, so it made sense, but also— Midoriya shows up in the void to the vestige platform for the first time. He has no mouth, no clothes—and Shinomori's first idea is to stand in front of him menacingly and go: "I shall explain. I am Shinomori Hikage." SIRRRR

His Ability is basically like glorified anxiety. What if something is coming to hurt him? If something can hurt him? What if that tree falls while he's under it? And the ideas come so hard they hurt (although yes, it does detect ill intent and that's what sets it off)

He talks weirdly. Formal? Old-fashioned? Listening to him speak Japanese compared to others, it just sounds a bit different. (Translated subs don't show it very well, it's the voice itself methinks)

wait fr fr are there people who unironically ship kidkillerlaw? Like yes, I am deranged for ASL but I am equally as insane for Kiddkiller. Anyways, even if there aren't, I have a fic idea for this ship.

In this, Kidd's a king, Killer is his right hand man and Law is a foreigner just appeared one day and seduces the king. There's the conventional story of Kiddlaw falling in love with stolen glances, intimate moments and oddly violent shittalking/flirting.

However, dare I suggest a twist? Kidd is Killer's first love.

One day, on a blazing hot afternoon, Kidd returns to his private quarters pissed. He's ranting to Killer about how "God damn annoying some soldiers could be" and Killer's mindlessly nodding away while very shamelessly staring at his body.

There's just something about the way his muscles flex and move when he's angry. He looks so damn powerful and mouthwateringly strong. Kidd's gold eyes catch the sunlight and Killer thought the colour looked like fire, the passion of war.

Kidd then takes his pants off as casually as ever. They've seen each other naked plenty of times growing up—it's fine! Killer nearly chokes on his spit. Since when Kidd was so thic? Killer hopes Kidd would crush him with his thighs.

Kidd stares at Killer like, "Dude were you fucking listening to me? We gotta do something about our fucking military!"

Killer just nods. Uh-huh. Yup, yup we need new armour.

Kidd knows Killer wasn't listening but he assumes it was the weather and not... well, no one casually assumes that your right-hand-man-best-friend is lusting over you. He shrugs and tells Killer to help prepare a bath for him and Killer immediately runs out, panting, on the verge of going insane.

Damn, Killer thinks sadly, Law better treat his best friend well...

And yet! Killer's turmoil is not over.

When Kidd and Law get married, Killer's tasked to stay behind to protect Law on Kidd's behalf whenever Kidd has to leave for some foreign affair thing. Killer was jealous of Law but succeeds in looking professional. However, at some point, something cracks.

The evening was cool and pleasant when it happened. Law suddenly said that he wanted to take a walk and Killer figured why not. Usually quiet, Law speaks first this time—not about foreign affairs. He asks about Killer's day, what he ate, if he met anyone new today.

Killer was surprised. Law's manipulative and scheming to everyone who isn't Kidd. He asked why Law was so friendly all of a sudden. Law laughs in Killer's face. Killer notices how his mouth twitches upwards to form a smile. It was cruel but also kind of hot.

"You're lonely without Eustass too," Law says like he would lose nothing. He says that openly because he's lonely too. "Why don't we become friends? It won't be so awkward during dinner. Of course, I can't replace Eustass, but I think I'm tolerable company."

Killer shrugs. Why not?

They talk more and Killer understands more and more why Kidd genuinely fell in love with Law. He's reserved, analytical and sharp-tongued. Law is a brat but he only really pays attention to people he likes and it shows.

Oh. And when Killer drops him off at the podium because Law wants to read, Killer does what Kidd does and kisses Law's hand. When he glances up, Law just looks so amused at how awkward he is. Oh no.
