But like. Buffy? You came out of this show and the person you had beef with and want to call out is BUFFY? THE VAMPIRE SLAYER? The protagonist of all time? not much of a talker in general, and i think that remains true in scenario where you're upset/crying. but he does make it clear that hes here for you... just... in a general sense. you know? refuses to leave you alone unless you directly ask him that you need space; more so watches out of concern rather than his usual curiosity. i think he would make you a warm drink and let you vent to him. more of a logical approach than an emotional one; better at giving solutions rather than giving comfort.. though i like to think that his tentacles will pull you close if you want to lean into him, will let you cry into his shoulder with no judgement. 6/10 low score simply because sometimes one needs comfort in the moment instead of solutions, you know?

SPLENDORMAN:

i think hes the opposite of slenderman. hes all emotions first, logic later. if he already knows you comfortable with it, i think he would come in and scoop you up in a hug.. hell he might even cry with you, or do the equivalent of it (admin is still on the fence of whether or not he has eyes or not! torn between them being actual eyes or markings) will make you your favorite snacks and drinks, all the while letting you cry and vent to him. gets mad on your behalf if someone had done you wrong, does not make your feelings feel small or invalidated. if he could he would confront the person who treated you unfairly.... and in fact he might, who would ever believe the person that they came face to face with a ten foot tall monster? though... this can lead to him being a little quick to make choices that might have big impacts... 7/10 love this man need to write more for him and develop my hcs

EYELESS JACK:

you know now that i think about it, given how much i write for EJ, i swear ive done a similar prompt at some point. regardless of it i did and if my hcs are the same, im going to go ahead and drop my hcs. i think hes very similar to slenderman in terms that hes more of a solutions > emotion person.. though i do think hes more likely to join you in any shit talking if someone did you dirty... do i think he would target that person next when hes going to go 'hunting'? no... unless the person did something truly awful and unforgivable, then he would definitely consider it.. probably wont go through with a harvest, though.. but thats it whole other thing. more of a talker than slenderman, so at least he has that going for him. lets you sleep in his bed if youre venting to him in his cabin 7/10 one point higher than slenderman simply because he talks more n stuff

im gonna be so real i think he can go either way if hes going to be good at comforting you. on one hand hes too silly and might not take it too seriously; or he might try to make you laugh.. which COULD work but other times makes it look like he doesnt care about your feelings. on the other hand i think he can give some solid adivce, but thats only based on the fact that i love it when unhinged hyper characters suddenly drop the most valuable info. shrugs. i mean if you need a distraction, i think lj is your man to go to ! he was literally made to entertain so i dont think its going to be too hard for him to take your mind elsewhere. i think he would offer to cook you something but i also think hed probably be banned from the kitchen because he cant cook for shit. has probably set water on fire somehow level shit. so instead you guys just sit together talking... mostly its him leading the conversation, though. doesnt leave you be until you at least give him a smile... 6.5/10 only because i dont know how to rate him here

oh not at all emotional. well no thats a lie but hes not very emotive. thats the more correct word. look if we're talking about masky, hes probably going to be really bad at comforting you unless your means to be comforted involves being watched... though i do think he would fall into the act of service hole.. does all the chores and such for you so you dont have to worry yourself about cleaning a pan thats been in the sink for two days now. tries his hand at cooking, but i dont think masky is the best cook.. TIM on the other hand.. but we'll get into that in a minute. probably ends in you guys ordering something but hey its the thought that counts. if someone made you upset you notice over the course of the next few weeks that person starts outright avoiding you and overall seems anxious. weird. probably unrelated! 7/10 only because im badly overworked irl and the idea of someone taking charge sounds like a dream

tim i think would be similar, but hes more expressive for you... will cook for you but if your favorite food happens to be really specific or something else, hes probably going to run out and get it. torn on whether or not he would tell you before he goes, or if he sticks to keeping it a surprise.. i think he would tell you just so it doesnt feel like hes abandoning you when youre down..! not much to be said here other than him being supportive 8/10 i would KILL for some white cheddar popcorn rn

i think he would put you to bed. actually i think both of them would but to keep things clear im still going to divide this like masky/tims. i think hoodie is going to keep you in bed, even if youre not particularly tired. dont bother trying to fight him on it, hes only allowing you to get up for the bathroom. let him take care of things! very similar to masky, picks up on a lot of the chores. i think he can cook, though, definitely better than masky but i dont think hes like. top tier. likes making you little snacks, or food thats generally deemed as comforting (mac and cheese, cornbread, ect). doesnt talk (sign) much but will occasionally sign to you asking how you're feeling 7.5/10 love this man, so mad kid me used to sleep on hoodie

AITA for accidently insulting my daughter

despite the title sounding already terrible, i want to preface that i love my daughter (12 F), its just that an accident happened awhile ago and i want to put my feelings to rest

after the play, i was at home with my wife and younger daughter and i was worried that my daughter in question wouldnt come home, so i was going to look for my daughter, and by chance she was outside with G and G's sibling, and the thing i saw shocked me

a crack over her eye, on her shell, it freaked me out becuase no one in our family has had their shells cracked, so in a fit of rage i argued with G, i grounded my daughter and G and his sibling went away

fast forward, i was driving back from taking groceries, and suddenly a slimey creature was on the trunk of my car, and i could tell that was my daughter, she had broken out of her shell! i was mortified! G came infront of her and we have a conversaion along the lines of this:

dreamnoblade hcs:

trust is a very big aspect of their relationship. something about two broken beings who has never been shown real love or affection and has given up on people and love as a result.. meeting each other and learning to love the other because if there’s anyone out there who can love the monster that i’ve become, then it would be someone who’s equally as awful.

just two characters with a sad backstory (who learned it the hard way not to get attached to others pretty early on in their life) managing to find comfort and solace in the other’s presence.. they learn to show the other that they are capable to feel love and to be loved in return though mutual trust because they get what the other person has going through (maybe not entirely, but they've been hurt too - they know what it’s like to hurt all over without a helping hand to anchor them - and that makes all the difference)

techno is insanely overprotective of dream. this is the only hc that i will never change in any of my dnb fics. techno (the moment he has fallen in love with dream) will be so overprotective because dream is THE object of his affection, basically ranking as the highest person on his short list of the people he actually cares about, and he as his infamous saying goes “the only thing that works in this world is that you treat others as they treat you those who have treated me with kindness. i will repay that kindness, tenfold. and those that treat me with injustice, that use me, that hunt me down, that hurt my friends. i shall repay that injustice a thousand times over.” his character is a big fan of an getting even and not letting others who have hurt him get away with it. and if he’s willing to repay an injustice (namely others hurting those he considers his friends,) he will make sure to repay that transgression a thousand times over, so imagine how much worse it would be to anyone who dared to hurt dream (the person techno loves) basically im obsessed with techno going batshit insane whenever dream gets hurt

speaking of obsessed, there’s this line by chirstopher marlowe that i always associate with how i see their dynamic, it goes:

"why should you love him whom the world hates so?"

"because he loves me more than the world."

(this is literally dreamnoblade, idc idc their love is just so more powerful, it’s weight is heavier and far stronger than any other force in this world that they are so willing to disregard anything else (morals, humanity, their own preservation) because they know - they know - that the other loves them more than anything this world has to offer

also they are two touch starved men that are slowly learning to open up to each other (not just through their thoughts and emotions, but also through gestures, comforting touches here and there, maybe a pat on the back, a hug at night, a soft kiss on the cheek) the first time dream probably hugged techno, the man combusts.. just down right stops working (error 404) because of the sheer surprise of the action and the overwhelming feeling that overtook him from the brief contact.

dream likes the feeling of techno’s cloak wrapped around him and how techno is definitely a whole lot taller than him, and it makes him feel small (which rarely happens given his height) the feeling is unfamiliar yet comforting bc it gives him a sense of safety and security to be around him

they bicker like an old married couple bc techno loves messing with dream and dream is just “you wanna go?”

they geek out about books (greek mythology especially) together and have in-depth discussions about who the best pjo character is (percy for dream / leo for techno)

but also focusing on their history and friendship, dreamnap is basically that entire prospect of someone becoming a home. dream not knowing what love and affection was due to his horrible upbringing and meeting sapnap who’s literal love language is acts of service? 

ive always thought that it was sapnap who taught dream what it means to be loved, just the whole unmet childhood need for unconditional love and safety... dream is a very distrustful character by nature and sapnap definitely had to be gentle with him, taking his time to show that he means no harm and dream learning to actually lower his guard for the reward of actually being loved in return... subjecting himself to the mortifying ordeal of being known

their shared history definitely mean being so attuned to each other’s needs and temperament, they’re sensitive to the subtle change in the other’s emotions/actions and are able to sense something’s wrong without having to ask

also would like to say that their teamwork is unparalleled. just the sheer understanding that they have of each other’s thoughts (strategy and implementation) and skills when it comes to fighting together is the most badass thing to witness, a turn of their wrist a subtle shift in their posture and the other just knows.

also going back to the enemies with a shared past.. ive already said it before but i want to point out how they most definitely still have feeling for each other even after all that they’ve been through because they’re two codependent characters that probably can’t stand the thought of being away from each other (no matter how many times they say they hate the other and that they never want to see the other person again, they always come back to each other)

just the absolute insanity of the quote: “we make each other alive. does it matter if it hurts?” and how it pretty much represents dreamnap’s iconic (and slightly toxic) and poetic relationship post prison-break.

chia ⇢ what’s an inside joke you have with someone else? honestly i mostly have inside jokes with my sister, and they consist of us quoting vines or other videos at each other. one of the most occuring ones is saying WATER!? whenever someone says 'im gonna drink some water' which is us quoting a vid from some dutch local news where they were interviewing some alcoholic to ask him abt his opinion on the heat that day and asked him if he was staying hydrated and this guy responded to it with with 'water?! do you want to poison me or something'

camellia ⇢ what were you like when you were younger? do you think you’ve changed a lot? honestly i was much the same in the ways that matter. i've gotten a bit better at social interactions through a lot of practice, and ive gotten better at overcoming social anxiety and just walking up to people/doing things in public that i wouldn't have dared to do before for fear of looking like an idiot or whatever. and as a white person i've become much better at looking at the world not just from my own privileged point of view, but trying to see the world through the eyes of other people and other communities. as a kid i didn't even have a conception of the way where and how you are born changes the way you can live your life and how you experience it, but both through the internet, watching tv (evening talk shows) and reading newspapers i've really broadened my horizons in that regard, because it's given met the chance to see how other people think and live their life and the problems they encounter that i, as a white person, just would never encounter. i think being able to see that kind of nuance is really important in understanding why different kinds of people and communities have issues with rules or ways of being addressed or things that were done to them in the past that to you, as a white person, don't register as a problem at first bc they aren't a problem to you. and then that ability to see the world from others' points of view just helps in a lot many other areas in life as well. palm tree ⇢ do you have a fictional villain you shouldn’t like but love regardless? ngl im usually a whore for villains. edel/gard is kind of an exeption bc i simply thinks she sucks ass and is badly written to boot, but villains <3 i think the one villain that im mentally ill about that no one really likes is elias bouchard from the magnus archives. he's my favourite character from the whole ass show and i think im one of like, 5 people who genuinely enjoy him and 1) don't dislike him for being an evil monster of a man who treats people like pawns and tortures them psychologically and also 2) don't say stuff like 'oh i enjoy him ironically i would definitely punch him in the face though' like damn sorry to hear abt that i'd kiss him with tongue though

EDIT: actually im gonna be cringe and add to this that i've always been mad abt how disney apparently changed the story of frozen around halfway through development or whatever and decided hans should be the villain, at least as far as i heard, which is why his 'if only there was someone out there who loved you' comes out of absolutely nowhere as for the entirety of the film before that moment he's been concerned with keeping the people of arendelle save in the frozen wasteland elsa has created and bc both members of the royal family are off to some fuck-off mountain while their subjects freeze to death so yeah actually im a hans apologist and i've always chosen to ignore the last scenes in the movie bc they don't make no sense

"Daddy!" Bucky was pulled back into reality as he looked up from the ground. A small flock of pigeons had gathered around him as he fed them some seed. They were cooing and chirping happily at him and in some ways had become steadfast friends over the years. But when he looked up and found his daughter grinning and waving at him, his entire heart melted, "daddy! Come and catch me!"

Sofia displayed a gap-toothed grin,  her dark curls windswept and blue eyes wide and excited. She was his little clone in almost every single way. You'd told him that since the day she was born and, almost as if you had a sixth sense, you'd insisted that she would cling to him like glue. You'd been right. Very right.

He couldn’t help but grin as he watched her running around, attempting to catch some butterflies as Falcon, the beloved family dog, followed closely behind. You’d had him since before she was born and they were thick as thieves.  Quickly pulling out his phone, he made sure to snap a few photos of them to send to you before getting up and chasing after her. He was on solo-father duties today as you had a few things for work you had to attend to that day.

Of all the things in the world Bucky thought he would ever have, a family of his own was never one of them.

But as he ran after his daughter, making quick work of catching up to her little legs, and swooped her up in his arms, a wave of peace and calm washed over him. She squealed in delight as she tried to squirm out of his arms, Falcon barking happily at the two of them.

“I’ve got you, little monster,” he peppered gentle kisses over her face as she giggled and attempted to wrap her small arms around his neck, “so easily defeated, little one. One day you’ll be strong enough to fight me off.”

“I don’t want to, daddy,” she insisted as she snuggled against his chest, “I like when you hold me. Besides, my legs are getting tired.”

A lump welled up in his throat at her little declaration; in some ways he wished that Sofia would stay this young and carefree forever. But in others, he couldn’t wait for her to grow up and reach different milestones that he could help her grow through. He still struggled, here and there, with the idea that he was actually good and hoped in some ways that raising her would give him the chance to prove to the world he could do good. Perhaps it would prove it more to himself than anyone else, but that was beside the point. He just wanted to be a good father, just as he worked to be a good husband.

He already was - the best ever - you had consistently told him such. Nothing you’d ever done that had shown him otherwise. It was something he still found to be a miracle at times.

“That’s what happens when you’re a shrimp,” he laughed softly as he kissed the top of her head, “one day, you’ll be tall and running over me. But that’s a long time from now - want to get ice cream before we go home?”

“Yes,” she grinned and looked at him with wide, ocean blue eyes, “mommy said no ice cream though...she said I had too much when I went to Uncle Sam’s the other day.”

“Mommy isn’t here right now,” he put a finger up to his lips and whispered softly, “it’ll be our little secret, okay?”

“I thought secrets were bad, daddy!”

“Only when they hurt other people,” he slowly set her back down and smoothed out her wild curls, “we don’t keep important secrets to ourselves and we don’t do anything to hurt others, yes?”

“Yes!”

“Exactly - and us getting ice cream doesn’t hurt anyone,” he reminded her as the little girl nodded eagerly, “we’ll make sure to brush your teeth extra well and then we’ll bring some home for mommy too. She can’t be mad then, right?”

“She loves ice cream too,” Sofia insisted as Bucky laughed, “we can all get ice cream! Falcon too!”

“Maybe not Falcon,” Bucky into his jacket pocket and fished out Falcon’s leash before clipping it onto his collar, “he can’t eat the same food as us, baby. But we can stop and get him a special treat too at the pet store. We can do that first, get our ice cream, and walk home. Mommy should be back by then too.”

“Okay daddy,” as soon as he straightened back up, he held out his hand to her, expecting that she’d gravitate towards the warmth and gentleness his normal hand offered her. Instead, she reached for the black and gold vibranium of his left side and clung onto it without reservation. She held onto him as tightly as possible, giving him an expectant look with a happy smile.

In some ways, he shouldn’t have been surprised at all. She’d never, even as a baby or toddler, had shown any fear or hesitation when it came to his vibranium arm. When she was tiny, even smaller than she was now, she didn’t understand the difference. She just knew that daddy has a different arm, but she’s never questioned it or made any sort of situation out of it. Even when people would stare, whether they knew of his past or not, Sofia was never phased. In turn, it gave Bucky the confidence not to care either.

You’d started the process of slowly helping to get him comfortable with being who he was, not hiding from the world, and the small girl had aided as well. These days he was able to go out without fear or worry about how he looked. He wasn’t anyone or anything he was just...Bucky. Bucky the husband, Bucky the father, occasionally Bucky the sidekick to Capitan America. And it felt good. For once in his long life, he was just a normal man.

And frankly, that was all he had ever wanted. What a thought - the man that had been through hell and back, several times, and all he wanted was a quiet and peaceful life. It had been a long time coming, but now that he had it, he didn’t plan on ever letting it go.

“Daddy?” Sofia asked softly as she started walking and noticed he wasn’t coming, “what’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” he promised softly. Bucky squeezed her hand gently before taking a step forward with her and Falcon quickly matching his stride, “Sofia?”

“Yes?”

“How come you never ask about my arm?” if he didn’t ask, curiosity would kill the cat. Typical Bucky Barnes, he knew you would say, asking a mere child for an explanation of something much more complex than anyone of her age would understand.

“Your arm?” her little brows knitted together as she looked up and gave him a confused look.

“You have to have noticed it’s different,” he shrugged as they walked out of the park, “it’s metal - vibranium - no one else has one like it.”

“That’s okay, daddy,” she stopped and quickly turned his hand over in hers, tracing over the palm gently, “it’s pretty. And it’s okay to be different! Mommy always says that and you do too. It doesn’t matter what anyone looks like, as long as they have good hearts. Right? If you’re kind and nice, nothing else matters!”

“Yes,” he felt himself getting choked up again as she started to race along the sidewalk, attempting to pull him with her. Sage wisdom from a five-year-old, “you’re absolutely right. I love you, little monster.”

“I know! I love you too, daddy,” she grinned, “now hurry up before they run out of all the good ice cream!”
