Suzy wanted to write screenplays. For a living, that is. She did write screenplays, but nothing ever came of them. She still has the notebooks filled to the brim with her ideas and stories, but they’re just “collector’s items” to her now ( as she puts it ).

Junior used to be... very shy about sex. He thought he was terrible at it until a friend of his taught him more about how to get out of his head and into the act and how to enjoy it and thus, make it more enjoyable for his partner. He gives her credit for getting him to come out of that shell. I will not be revealing this friend at this time. Thank you.

Frankie threw the biggest bash for KT for her 40th birthday back in January... And she didn’t even attend it. She knew it was all just an excuse for him to throw a rowdy ass party and she didn’t want any part of it. He... didn’t seem to notice.

Lou’s mom Ida shipped her with Eddie and was wary of her fondness for Shaun. A mother’s instincts, man...

It’s bananas how good Teddy is at baseball and how good his biological father ( Shaun ) was too, and how much they’d bond over that... If Lou would even let him near their son or if Teddy would even want it.

Farah’s VW Beetle is in the shop. Again. She’s pissed.

Aisling has found herself in some trouble. I will not be elaborating at this time.

Brad woke up wanting a meaningful relationship. He blames the hangover he has. This will change by noon anyway.

THE TIES THAT BIND...

          He lights a cigarette that he doesn’t intend on finishing, just to give the illusion that he’s older, wiser, than he’s ever given credit for. All of seventeen, he’s watched out for himself for so long now that he doesn’t know what being looked after means anymore, and he knows, deep down, Bullet feels the same.

That, of course, doesn’t mean that he’ll allow them to meet at that level. The girl needs to know he still has the power. The moment that illusion’s gone, she’ll stop listening to him, and he can’t have that. She’s been an asset beyond his expectations, though he’s always treated her like a burden.

"So this… This shit with Pops… Do ya think it’s genuine?” Bullet asks as he draws from the cigarette. They’ve sat in silence long enough.

“I’d like to think so, but he’s a politician, and above that, a Sullivan. That’s two versions of a liar. Just because he’s successful, doesn’t mean he’s any different than the rest of us.”

She clams up again and looks away. He realizes then that she actually bought into the fairy tale their grandfather spun for them.

“Yeah, but… Maybe he’s finally doin’ the right thing. Maybe he’s steppin’ up where everyone else in our lives has folded.” He doesn’t like her tone and though she can’t see, he narrows his eyes at her. “We’re supposed to look out for each other, Frankie. That’s what family does.”

He exhales the smoke polluting his lungs and shakes his head. He doesn’t even have it in him to laugh at her naivety.

“Not this family.”

Ant Clemons Is Just Getting Started [Q&A]

Ant Clemons is ready for the spotlight. The LA-based singer/songwriter has been a budding songwriter in the LA scene for a few years now. He’s secured placements with Luke James, Kali Uchis, and Noah Cyrus to name a few. His biggest break was when he appeared on “All Mine,” track three on Kanye West’s 2018 project, Ye. Since then, Clemons has been nominated for multiple Grammys, collaborated with Pharrell and The Neptunes, performed with Kanye West at Coachella, and much more. But where did his story start?

Ant Clemons grew up in Willingboro, New Jersey. Willingboro is a small town about thirty minutes outside of Philadelphia. The oldest of three children, Ant described his childhood as a creatively expressive environment. Besides singing in his church choir, and his budding career as a Michael Jackson impersonator, young Ant would perform with his sisters at family events. “We wanted to be the Jackson Five so bad, but my parents only had three kids.” The creative gene came from his parents. His father had a famous falsetto and his mother was a trained dancer. Music was always played in their household. “I equate my childhood to The Cosby Show. We had some great times. I remember having amazing times at Christmas. Music was always on in the house. Someone was always singing or trying to sing.”

Clemons’ seemingly perfect childhood definitely had its share of trials and tribulations. Around 2009, his parents got divorced and he ended up moving with his mom to a small town called Pennsauken, right outside of Philadelphia. In the wake of the divorce, Clemons began taking his singing and songwriting more seriously. Shortly after moving to Pennsauken, he met Frankie Hill, Julian Tabb, Michael Stargel, Ross Richards, and Theo Robinson. Like Clemons, they were also into making music. Shortly after, they formed a group called The Committee. “To this day, they’re some of my best friends. We were all working on music 24/7. So, it was a great way to transition into my new surroundings and distract me from some of the things I was going through.”

Being a part of The Committee helped Clemons sharpen his writing and singing skills. To make money, Clemons started waiting tables at a Red Lobster in his town. As his ambitions grew, he wanted to get closer to the music industry and make his career as a songwriter a reality. For a lot of people, the first step in that journey is tasking a trip to Los Angeles. Describing his first impression of LA, Clemons says “I only stayed for like a week and a half, but I knew from the time I walked out of LAX that this is where I needed to be. It’s nice all the time. Everybody was always smiling. This is the best place in the world. Like, I have to be here”

Lucky for him, his bosses at Red Lobster were extremely supportive of his dream. “They knew that music was my number one priority. So, when opportunities popped up in LA, they were more than supportive. They wiped tell me “go out there for as long as you need. Your job is here for you when you come back.” His family was also a major source of support for him. “Having supportive parents was everything. At the time, I was living with my mom. So, she was the main push, but both of them are just hella supportive of anything my sisters and I ever wanted to do. I know that not everybody grows up with that kind of support. But I had amazing parents that set an amazing foundation for me to just be whoever I wanted to be. None of my successes is possible without them.”

In 2017, Clemons made the full time move to LA. When he first got to LA, he was sleeping on couches and floors. Triangle Park, an LA-based music production crew, let him crash with them. But there was one caveat - He had to write one song per day. Reminiscing on that time, Clemons said “I just knew God wouldn't place me anywhere that I wouldn’t be able to succeed. I had a motivation get off the floor, so I was working really hard. Back when I lived near Philly, it was normal to make seven or eight songs a day. When I came out to LA, I saw that people were working at a different pace, so I put my head down and kept going. I learned that what I thought was normal was going to be the thing that set me apart from everybody else.

Things started moving for Clemons in Los Angeles when he met fellow Willingboro native, Ryan Toby. Ryan Toby was part of the early 2000s R&B/Hip-Hop group, City High. Bonding over music and their hometown connection, they started making music together. This relationship led to Clemons working with Luke James which is how he landed his first placement as a songwriter on “Drip.” Around this time, he was also introduced to the Producer Bongo By The Way. When they first got in the studio together, they made eleven songs and they were locked in ever since. Bongo would go on to introduce Clemons to Jeremih which was the catalyst for Clemons’ big break.

When Kanye West was recording Ye in Wyoming, he asked Jeremih to come to Wyoming and work on music for the album. One of the ideas he played for Kanye was an idea that he made with Ant Clemons. This idea turned into “All Mine.” It was at this point that Clemons’ life would change.

Being featured on a song with Kanye West can instantly change your life and bring you a massive amount of attention. Describing that time of transition, Clemons says, “Ye’s album dropped in June and by September, I was with him 24/7. We went from Chicago to SNL in New York, back to Chicago, and then to Uganda. It was all happening so fast. It was crazy.”

Entering the orbit of a revered musician like Kanye West could be very unnerving, but Clemons said being around West was quite the opposite. “The crazy part of working on music with Ye was that he was just a big fan of whatever I was doing. He would say ‘Bro, I want you to just be you. Keep being you. Do whatever makes you, you. Just keep doing you.’”

Fast forward to Coachella 2019. Kanye West has invited Clemons to perform a song, “Water”, made earlier that week, for an Easter edition of Sunday Service. Describing that moment, Clemons said, “For me, it was like when the Jackson 5 performed with Diana Ross for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show. It was amazing. I'm performing at Coachella for the first time by praising the Lord with one of my favorite artists of all time. God is too good”

“Water” would go on to appear on West’s gospel album, Jesus Is King, later that year. In recent years, West has shifted his musical focus to Gospel with the release of Jesus Is King and the upcoming Jesus Is Born. Knowing that Clemons is a man of faith, I asked him how his faith has helped him navigate the treacherous nature of the music industry. He said, “God’s timing is always immaculate, and I learned not to question what happens. If you have a strong relationship with God, he will lead you through any situation”

A lot of artists would be happy living in the light of Kanye West. But Clemons has way more to do. Speaking on his transition from songwriter to a solo act, Clemons said, “I wanted my first official release to be something undeniable. I wanted something that showcased my songwriting abilities but was also relatable. I think “Four Letter Word” is such an amazing song. I want my music to be played now and ten years from now. Not only is it an ode to a relationship I was in but it’s about my relationship with God. I was happy to talk about it in a cooler way with up-tempo and contemporary sounds and being able to work with Timbaland on the song was a dream come true. My goal for the project was to tell my story and approach it like the artists I was inspired by.”

His debut EP, HAPPY 2 BE HERE has something for everybody. “I wanted to tell my story. I wanted to take the listener on a journey with cool concepts. I wanted to talk about love. I wanted to have something people could dance to. I wanted to tell stories. Most importantly, I just wanted to create songs people could listen to every day.”

          ROBERT’S SECRETARY COULDN’T STOP FRANKIE from storming past her desk and straight to his office, knocking loudly three times with the side of their fist before entering. “Pops… Pops, we have a bit of a situation…”

Brown eyes glanced up from the papers in his hand, scrutinizing quickly before going back to work. He turned to retake the seat he’d rose from just moments prior. “I told you to kick the habit, kid. I don’t wan—”

“I’m not high, Pops! This shit is serious.”

The elder stopped with his back toward his grandchild, paused, took a moment to himself before rounding his desk, intent on getting himself a drink from the credenza behind it. Dropping the papers, he grabbed the crystal bottle, poured himself a glass of bourbon, considered providing Frankie with one, and ultimately decided against it. Recapping the bottle, Robert finally pivoted and propped himself against the piece of furniture, drawing a long sip of the brown liquor before continuing. “What shit is serious?”

“She knows. Mia. She knows somethin’,” Frankie blurted after plopping down in a chair across from the desk.

The glass, halfway through its return to its destination, stopped and Robert’s eyes narrowed. “What does she know?”

“I don’t know! Somethin’! She was drunk as fuck the other night when I came home from the club, said she came to see you—- God knows what the fuck for. She said she overheard somethin’, that you weren’t a good man—-”

Robert raised his hand, a silent demand that his grandkid stop speaking. Frankie obliged. “I told you that girl was trouble, did I not?”

“Yeah, but you sa—”

“Did. I. Not?”

Frankie’s lips formed a line and they nodded, pushing out a softer yes.

“I told you that she was trouble and that she would get in the way. I warned you, but just like your idiot father and uncle, you didn’t listen.” He let that hang there, eyes on the other until he let his gaze drop to his drink. Robert took a breath in, abandoned the glass, and moved around to the front of his desk, to stand in front of Frankie. “You didn’t listen, Francis, and now we have a problem on our hands, don’t we?”

Blue eyes peered up at him, frightened, confused, whatever they were. Robert only registered how pitiful they looked, how pitiful Frankie looked.

“I can fix it. Don’t worry. I can— I just need a coup—” Frankie stammered, trying to think fast, grasping at every possible solution that entered their mind.

“No,” his grandfather responded sharply, bending down to meet their eyes at the level they were at now. “I can’t trust you to clean up your own mess, so I’ll do it.” Just as he’d done for his own sons. Robert straightened, smoothed out his suit jacket, and waved a hand toward the door. “Go say your goodbyes, if you must. I’ll get word to you once a clean-up plan is in order. Tell not a soul or you just may find yourself in a little accident too.” His fingers wagged toward the exit, a little more impatiently this time. “Now go.”

Frankie, with their head hung, nodded, rose, and started off. They didn’t get to the door fast enough before hearing their grandfather grumble a little more about how much of a failure they’d become. “Is Pearl truly the only smart one among you?” Echoed in their ears as they left.

On November 11th, 1989 Jacob Bennett was born to an unwed mother, the secretary of a wall street tycoon, legally renamed Jacob Sullivan two years after his birth when his mother returned to her hometown of Lunar Cove and married his stepfather; Phil Sullivan. Shortly after remarrying, Jake’s mother had three more children and he became a big brother to three little sisters. Phil adopted Jacob before his first sister was born and treated him just like his own child, though Jacob would continue to have a tumultuous relationship with his birth father.

Growing up, Jake was a rambunctious child. Sensitive and impulsive but deeply loved by his family. He was 10 years old when he came into his first power; Aura Reading. Then came the ability to heal, and in highschool Jake discovered he possessed the power of teleportation.

Senior year, Jacob got his highschool girlfriend pregnant and forewent attending college out of state to stay behind with her and raise their child. He began school at the University of Rhode Island in the fall of 2008.

A few months before her due date, Jacob’s girlfriend was hit by a drunk driver and died upon impact alongside their unborn child. Grief came like a tidal wave, drowning Jacob beneath its weight. A loss that forever changed him, but in the wake of the tragedy his family and coven surrounded him. There was no question after that, Jacob would join Lunar Cove’s coven and came into his fourth and final power; electrokinesis.

Devoted to his family and to the coven, yet still an avid wanderer; Jacob took every opportunity to travel. He used his gift of teleportation to explore the world during holidays from school. Which is what convinced him to leave his hometown when given the chance.

In 2012, Jacob graduated from the University of Rhode Island and accepted an offer from NYU to obtain his masters in architecture. An avid lover of the arts his whole life, Jake was excited to marry his passion and profession. It wasn’t his first time living in the city, either. Growing up, he often spent summers in New York, visiting his father.

During the three year program, Jacob gave himself permission to indulge in life. He eased his long held grief in the beds of women and men alike, drowning his remaining sorrows at the bottom of drink and pill bottles.

A wake up call came the night he and an ex overindulged themselves. He should’ve known better than to let his former partner  behind the wheel in the state they were in. No stranger to the deadly implications of driving under the influence, yet thoughtless to the ramifications of their actions until they collided with a light pole.  In a better state than his once boyfriend, Jake couldn’t watch him die and broke the rules to heal him, promising them both he’d get his head back on straight.

After a stint in self admitted rehab, Jake made peace with his past and became committed to sober living. He graduated with his masters in architecture and was set to take a job out in California when he was called home for an impromptu “family meeting”.

Gathered around his childhood’s kitchen table, his mother broke the news to Jake and his siblings that she had cancer. He didn’t hesitate to move home, turning down his job offer to take one in Lunar Cove.

It was hard for Jake to be back home. Every street corner held memories of his youth, of all that he had lost. He traveled as often as he could to keep his mind busy, using his gifts of teleportation once more to put distance between himself and what hurt. Always coming home after a few weeks, though, remaining a constant support in his family’s lives. During this time, Jake constructed his dream home in Sunny Harbor. A three story craftsman he spared no detail in designing. From an attic with no door, not a problem to a witch with the power of teleportation, where he practiced spells, to a backyard with a pool of his childhood dreams.

In 2022, his mother lost her battle to cancer and Jacob returned to a dark place again. Once more, drowning his grief in bottles and traveling. He spent more time away than before, but came home for good at the start of 2024 when the oldest of his three, little sisters had her first baby. Jake’s first niece, named after their mother, little Emma drowned out all the dark.

As madness descends across Lunar Cove, wreaking havoc in Jake’s once safe haven, he has committed himself to staying put and protecting those he loves. The years of Peter Pan have passed. No longer a lost boy, but a man who must resist the call of Never Never land or risk losing the only real home he’s ever known.

Turn back the clock - Murph edition

AGE 15

The coughing had gotten out of control. Once every now and again, the hacks rattled her every few minutes now and he couldn’t take it. Seeing his mother like that, weak and frail, lying in her bed, trying to hold on to life, was too much.

He’d left for school, though he didn’t bother showing up, instead meeting up with some college dropouts to drink and smoke all day, to dull the aching in his heart. It tended to only work for a few hours and by the time he returned home, red-eyed and agitated, the pain returned. It’d been weeks now when things were like this. His father wasn’t around much, Loch tended to much of the day-to-day chores, he did much of the cooking, and poor Nora clung to their mother, especially as Fiona slept.

When Fi couldn’t keep the dinner down, Murph lost it and yelled, scaring his sister right up to her room, leaving his brother to smooth that over. He stormed out and returned well into the dark hours, thinking he was sneaking in undetected when he heard her voice, barely beckoning him to her room.

“I’m fine,” he told her rigidly, “Just go to sleep, Ma. Please. Just… Go to sleep.”

His troubled ass kept Murph in business not just at the tavern ( with a loan from his grandfather ), but more in his little side venture of security, but also showed him how to multiply his venture in selling drugs. The amount of people he brought to him was astounding. Loch, of course, didn’t approve, or like it, but when had Murph ever considered his brother’s feelings before?

So his life seemed pretty good at the moment. His tavern was coming up, his brother had purpose there, he had work elsewhere with Frankie, and all the money, blow, and chicks he could handle. He felt like he’d finally hit it big, all thanks to the arrogant kid who thought he was much more important than he was He was able to convince others of the same, so it didn’t matter. Murph would ride the connection as long as he could, and for as long as it was beneficial.
