Carlisle has felt the hopelessness of a life without end for centuries. There's so much that he understands in the lives he's lived, and yet there's still so much he doesn't know.

"No," he says in answer to her question. "I looked for you. I wanted to be sure you were alright. You didn't go hunting with him."

Not a question, just a statement. It's a concern, not just for Esme but for the rest of the coven. Carlisle has found that things are easiest when the stinging isn't all-consuming, when there's other thoughts beyond hunger. Carlisle's control over himself is unique. Other vampires he's met beyond his coven have told him that animal blood is lacking something, but Carlisle's never had anything else. It doesn't make a difference to him.

"Pushing on isn't always moving on. You don't have to let your old life go completely. You can't. It's always going to be part of you. But you don't have to work through it alone. Being alone is.... hell, in its own way."

hi! i’m sorry for the late response :( sadly i dont have very many twilight hcs but i’ll tell you the ones i do have!!

-Carlisle is the ultimate caregiver. he’s just such A Dad™️

-sometimes patients at the hospital will start slipping, and somehow he can always sense it and he immediately goes into cg mode, bringing them healthy snacks and fun little toys

-and ofc Esme is the ultimate mom!!

-i feel like Alice is a kiddo regressor. she’s very curious and loves to explore!!

-although i don’t think all the Cullen kids are (consistent) regressors, i think that all of them have regressed at least once. the combined parent/cg energy of Carlisle and Esme is just That Strong

9. Characters reach a dead end, full of pollen spores, which when inhaled make characters feel drunk for the next hour.

absolute bullshit that she was the only one who needed to breathe, nessie thinks as the pollen spores settle into her system. shit, that wasn't great. "grandpa?" she starts, swaying slightly on their feet as they turned to carlisle. "i don't feel right, those plants are like a drug or something."

🩺 ───── he could understand she was figuring things out, of course she was. it was something of a large adjustment to get use to being a vampire. to the bloodlust, the powers, and everything else. it was complicated to say the least. he wished to provide bella with anything andeverything he could to help. because not only had she become a vampire and joined their family but she also became a parent, a mother and he imagined that weighed heavily on emotions that were already complicated enough. "is there anything i can do for you, bella? to help you?"

@bcrncoldx bella swan for carlisle cullen 2. after coming around a corner the corn stalks grow higher and are covered in a thick layer of blood that drips on characters as they pass through. it is difficult to see but it appears as though there might be bodies on the top of the stalks. the smell is thick in the air and stains are unavoidable.

bella looked around, the confusion settling in as a smell filled the air that she couldn't quite name. "sorry.." they started as they walked forward, "do you smell something?" they questioned, walking around the corner but froze the moment they felt something drop onto their face.

        He sniffs - bringing a hand up to swipe the knuckle of his thumb along his nose in a small attempt to alleviate the burning in his sinuses. He didn’t like the smell of them; but he’s yet to meet a wolf that can spend a minute in their presence without becoming tired of the stink. It was like an over load of copper and ash - like that potent fancy paint that smells like gas if too much is inhaled. It stunk - and it made his tongue itch. “I’m here out of respect for the local alpha-” Then he clears his throat recalling just how new Jacob Black was. “The new one ... You know how most of us feel about.. your kind.” Then his lips press before his temper can get away from him - that wasn’t why he mentioned all of this. “Tell me, what makes you so different from the other leeches I’ve seen?”

the spike in vampiric activity in the town of beacon hills meant that aro had his eye set firmly on the town, to make sure that order was still maintained. alec would act as his master's eyes, and report his findings. he was not here to make pleasantries or anything of the sort, merely to supervise. the town had nothing on the bustling streets of volterra, and alec was not overly fond on being here. even more so when he heard a familiar voice. eyes rolled, then snapped to the side, landing on the person the voice belonged to. "well, well, if it isn't carlisle cullen," alec drawled, a smirk playing on his lips.

ONCE AGAIN CARLISLE CHOSE THE MOST NONSENSICAL PATH. He could have easily grabbed Carlisle by the scruff as if he were no more than a pup and forced him to reckon with the damage his fantastical ideals had caused. But instead he stood there numbly, like a wheel in muck, only able to watch as his companion rushed forward to save what was more corpse than man at this point. 

Carlisle bit into the boy's neck and then his own wrist. Then, with great care, he brought the boy's mouth to the steady stream of blood. “He’s as good as dead. Why waste your strength?” Baron didn’t expect an answer and Carlisle didn’t give him own. Instead, seeing that the boy was too weak to swallow he sat him up so he was cradled against him. With great determination Carlisle tilted his head back and allowed his blood to drip down the boy’s throat.

Too little too late. Baron hovered over the both of them as if he were the grim reaper himself waiting to drag the boy’s soul to hell. But, as weak as his heartbeat was, it never stopped completely. The mortal wound against his throat has stopped bleeding, although Baron wasn’t quite sure if this a sign of genuine healing or Carlisle turning himself into human life support. It was irrelevant. Even if Carlisle had managed to save the boy's life a horrendous three day ordeal lay ahead. What a waste. “It’ll never take.” This time his comment earned him a sharp look that clearly told him to shut it. With a shake of his head Baron obliged and moved his attention to the horizon. He wouldn’t waste his breath asking if Carlisle planned on taking his lost cause back to their convent. 

“If you don’t plan on dying with him we should get moving. The sun will be up soon.”

🩺 ───── a breath fell from his lips, although was it really a breath or more of a heavy push of air that he not need, a heavy breathless sigh more like. his gaze lifted and as he took in that familiar woman who's very existence brought a quiet to his chest and mind, "i'm unsure about all of this." he confessed honestly to esme. "are we doing the right thing allowing him to chase after this.... i feel i should warn against it, push even, but .... am i a hypocrite for such actions?"

          Carlisle walked over to where his wife was sitting and neatly sat down next to her.  He wanted nothing more than to reassure her,  to wipe that worried expression from her beautiful face and ease her mind;  but he would not lie to her.  A human now knew about them  -  not just the existence of vampires in general,  but them personally.  He wasn’t concerned about Bella telling anyone,  not anymore,  the girl seemed genuine in her feelings for Edward.  And,  oh,  how Carlisle had wished for decades for his son to find this happiness.  It felt wrong to feel so concerned over what should be a joyous thing.  But during his years spent with the Volturi he had seen first hand what punishment befell those broke their rules.  And telling a human of their existence was possible the worse offense.   “I’m not certain.”

          The question came down to how to handle this,  how best to ensure the safety of his family which now included one much more fragile member.   “We will need to limit communication with others, but not enough to raise concern.”   This mostly meant their friends up north,  the Denali’s.  They were dear friends,  and the two families spoke often.  And while Carlisle didn’t believe they would ever do something to intentionally harm his family,  these were special circumstances. But there was still so much more to consider.  “I believe the better question might be how long can we keep this quiet.”
