He clearly has a lot of love for his kingdom and a fair amount of friends, but it must be lonely being the only toad with an ounce of bravery.

The pair continued their walk. Making their way to the far edges of the rancher's world. "We are looking for small tracks in the walls," Twilight said, as he looked around.

"Like these?" The captain pointed to a wall with a track in it. Leading further into the canyon. And up the walls.

"Yes!" The rancher smiled as he dug through his bag. Pulling out a large object. "This is the spinner. And you are gonna have some fun with me." He grabbed the captain around the waist. "Just hold on to me!"

"Rancher What do you... AH"

Pulling the captain with him onto the spinning device sent it in motion towards one of the walls. The captain's grip tightened on the rancher's tunic immediately. As the spinner clung to the tracks as the pair of them began their travels along it. The rancher exclaimed excitedly as he gripped the captain tightly. Forcing the machine forward as the pair balanced.

"hold on tight!" The rancher felt the captain's grip on him tighten.

"I'm already holding on tight!"

"Wooo!" The rancher exclaimed as he pressed his foot into the device, forcing the contraption to expand rapidly leaping away from the wall and landing on another track.

They lept from wall to wall around a maze of tracks each jump making the rancher laugh.

Eventually, even the captain begain to laugh. "Woo!"

Leaping from wall to wall and around corners for some time until the sun settled into the horizon. The pair of them eventually came to a stop on a ledge above the canyon. An old chest left abandoned in the space. the captain leaned on it.

"Time is gonna kill us." The captain breathed through laughter.

"he can't kill us if he can't catch us." The rancher did too. Leaning against his knees and pointing outward with one of his hands in no particular direction.

And that. Made the captain really laugh.

Story Description:

Shortly after the formation of the Paranormal Liberation Front, the League of Villains play cards and discuss enjoying a tasty meal, all on the organization's coin.

Skeptic's not exactly happy about it. He's been bitter about their extravagant way of living for some time now. The quarrel that breaks out between Shigaraki and Skeptic will be settled by a game of blackjack. But who's going to win?

tbt to that time someone in the Seireitei had a candlemaking side hustle

where the draw was that each candle was meant to evoke different types of reiatsu, as described by the traditionally florid prose of candle/perfume descriptions. There was some press around the candles' potentially homeopathic effects, and though the 12th put a stop to that pretty quickly, some shinigami had standing orders for the candles because some users swore that burning the candles could help augment one's own reiatsu. (One wing of the 3rd Division barracks did burn down, but that's neither here nor there.) You could commission custom blends if you paid for a reiryoku reading, which the candlemakers then used to whip up a candle specialized to you.

Where things got really tricky was when the founder of the Gotei Candle Co. tried to step it up and offer a limited edition Gotei Captain candle set, where each candle was meant to describe/evoke the reiatsu signatures of, well, the Gotei Captains. You can't normally brand things like that without express permission of the Council of 46 (though notably not the Captains' individual permissions, which don't factor into this at all, officially), but the Gotei Candle Co. knows that the SWA gets permission to run their calendars every year, and they thought if they did a Gotei Candle Co. x SWA collab, it would be a real knockout event.

BUT photo calendars are one thing and reiatsu signature candles are another, and when this went to the Council of 46 they found that they DID actually have to consult the Gotei, to determine whether or not the candles constituted a breach of military security. And this had to go to a Captains' Meeting vote. The voting was split across several positions:

captains who believed the candles constituted a breach of military security because anything COULD be a breach of military security

captains who realized that believing that would mean greenlighting the idea that the candles were accurate to their reiatsu in any way, which might tacitly confirm the notion that the candles had actual homeopathic validity, on which grounds they refused

captains who believed in the candles, actually

captains who were willing to say the candles were a breach of military security and all that other stuff just because they did not want the candles to exist

captains who had no real opinion on military security or science but disliked the candles, yet still refused to tarnish their principles by pretending the candles were legit even if it meant they had to be a candle

In any case, the Council of 46 refused to make a move without evidence-based deliberation from the Gotei, so they had to spend hours and hours sniffing candles as part of the process. And the 12th wanted to run a test so there'd be science-backed proof that the candles did/did not accurately type Captain reiatsu, because they did not believe captains sniffing things constituted actual evidence-based anything. There was some pushback against this, but ultimately the 12th prevailed and the REASON the 12th has all the captains' reiatsu typed--and having this done is now part of any captains onboarding, even post-candle debacle--is because OF THESE DANG CANDLES.

Eventually the Gotei decided, fuck it, these candles are a no-go, I don't care. But then Sasakibe brought up the fact that to deny them outright was technically a violation of the Commercial Clause of 1457, which states that when military procedure infringes on free trade within the Seireitei, it must offer an alternative enterprise as part of the sanction. After all the candle business, having to deal with this hangup was the closest the Gotei has ever come to executing mass ritual suicide in Yamamoto's office. Strange but true. The candles, man.

Anyway, at some point Byakuya leaks this to Shirogane, because He Cannot With This, and Shirogane suggests "okay no candles but what about eyewear tho" and Byakuya brings this to the next Captains' Meeting and Byakuya is, briefly, a HERO to his peers, and Shirogane is a HERO and that's why they let him leave the Gotei entirely and open up a glasses store.

Indya had to GET liberated she wasn't initially. Sex was her drug of chose for coping with a lot of her childhood trauma. The added benefit and learned behavior were if a nigga going fuck, then he needs to pay one way or another. And yes, she financially had independence because of it but at what cost? I think those are the things she worries about with Indira. The lure and attraction to money and material things at the cost of possibly missing out on a deeper connection with someone. Kinda like what happened with Rahul. But I digress because sis is just being Mama bear atm she doesn't even know how deep the rabbit hole goes, if it's even deep at all. Indira isn't talking.

My question is what was the president for her mindset, because there usually is one? Like growing up poor, seeing your mom used and abused, experiencing abuse etc. Now, I'm not saying the girlies can't just like sex AND getting the bag. It's just why is being liberated always sexually synonymous with endless partners, shallow relationships and self-centeredness? Or is that just one of the symptoms of individualism culture?

I very much (and of course purposely) simplified Indya's lifestyle. She was about getting the bag and getting the D but it came from a very ugly place in her history. A place that Indira doesn't have (because The Drakes have done an excellent job parenting their kids and growing first and foremost!). So why is Indya so scared? Her liberation was a process, yes, but she got there. If this is Indira's path, she gets to skip ahead a few steps.... right?

If we take away all the negative pieces and, like you said, its about getting the bag and getting the D, is it really that bad of a thing? I don't know...

There has to be a 2023 good version of what Indya went through prior tothe bad 2015 shit....

What if, and hear me out....

Version A: She was really digging muscle head, and this hurt her and humiliated her more than she let on. And now she's equated head-in-the-bathroom/sex with these gigantic fucking rims/money.

Version B: This experience became a core memory but it wasn't because of a sex and money correllation but more of a men-are-fucking-wack-so-imma-get-them-for-their-coins-and-bust-a-nut-or-two-while-i'm-at-it journey

just played some Case Files with LoV part in it and just thought about a giant project like "every LoV filler ever in ANY media"

like games, manga (including those SMASH!! pages) or irl events (like ONE of LoV seyuu playing as LoV without any real footage of it) and most importantly - Ultra Impact events, but sadly I don't have ALL of them of at least I can't share jp server events that I know at least one happened before global started

I'm not that good with knowing what Ultra Rumble has as something special other than emotes, some phrases or outfits and I don't exactly play it

One's Justice 2 (the one Horikoshi named chapter with Hawks and Twice after) on the other hand has literally tons of interactions from just battle things and recruit talks that depend on your trust of something level to Arcade where defeat and a win give you a mini dialogue and LoV has levels with each other

the only problem with the latter is that I either did level them all up too much already and it would be a pain to lose progress or I'm not really interested in doing already hard to make screenshots one by one FOR EVERY SINGLE LOV FIGHT twice.

But since I've never found actual archive of those things aside from occasional video of Plus Ultra attacks or voicelines without any subtitles for jp vers or again Plus Ultra attacks only for the new characters... that's either worthless or it doesn't matter as much

Still! While 1-A class fillers and stories are so easy to find - literally in the novels or 90% of SMASH!! and Team-Up Missions (and I saw one thing that suspiciosly had LoV in there but still looking through it) while anything semi-canon or at least that can be considered such with LoV is either serves it's purpose in the final arc of the manga now or is actually hard to find since wiki doesn't actually keep up with the official games

maybe it's just an excuse to show little things that Ultra Impact keeps as it's canon for events like Tomura being good at poker and it first was in his "holiday story" and then it appeared in the event much later chronologically with MLA already working with LoV

Also if I remember correctly there are multiple vids with LoV somewhat main point of focus and there are still cool (like that one part of Peace Sign with villains suddenly being there for couple of seconds)

but meh... it's still just 1 am thoughts mostly

miss anthro’s film recs: May 2021

Jurassic Park 1993: Watched this for the third time in a month today to celebrate it's release 28 years ago. Like most excellent films, it was created by a lucky intersection of talent. The remarkable premise was crafted into a brilliant script by David Koepp and author Michael Crichton; it was tight, clean, fast-paced - no plot holes and unnecessary scenes. Steven Spielberg really did a fantastic job of making a cohesive production and giving it a kind of emotional continuity. The cast is outstanding. I could write an essay about each one. Richard Attenborough brings pathos to John Hammond, the delusional tycoon. Sam Neill is perfect as Alan Grant, a jaded paleontologist who finds deeper compassion. Laura Dern gives a raw performance as the resolute and charming paleo-botanist Ellie Sattler. Jeff Goldblum stars as Ian Malcolm, chaotician and prototype "rock-star scientist." Bob Peck is wonderful as the sensible game warden Robert Muldoon. Samuel L. Jackson works his magic as sardonic chief engineer Ray Arnold. And of course, excellent performances from Martin Ferrero, Wayne Knight, Joseph Mazzello, and Ariana Richards. The special and physical effects are remarkable and most of them remain so nearly three decades later, including the life-sized animatronic Tyrannosaurus rex and just the right amount of CGI. Cinematography by Dean Cundey features god-tier-level use of scale framing. Not to mention great use of color, blocking, sound, costume, John Williams' beautiful score - you name it, this film really has everything going for it. Is this a perfect film? No, but it gets bloody close. Unmissable science-fiction that examines the horror unleashed by the arrogance of mankind. 

The Birdcage 1996: This 25* year old film is a real gem. While the modern viewer (myself included) could find fault with some stereotypes, etc., the classic comedy has aged quite well. There’s a lot of slapstick and hysterically funny and clever dialogue. Williams and Lane are outstanding. There’s a very touching scene between the two of them which is very romantic and sweet. And of course the whole cast is perfect. I’m always impressed by this film when I haven’t seen it in a while.

The Moon-Spinners 1964: You don’t need to be a Disney fan to love this incredible classic. Hayley Mills is well loved but I don’t think she’s given enough credit for being not only a brilliant child actor but also a great actor as she aged. Her performance is stellar. The whole movie is fun and tense, bringing Mary Stewart’s novel to life in the great and beautiful country of Greece. It’s a fun adventure from start to finish with humor and romance.

Fairytale: A True Story 1997: Want to cry your eyes out about the Cottingley fairy hoax of 1917? You may not trust me but I recommend this experience. Honestly, this movie is life-changing. This is a depiction of a real life story involving historical figures. Usually no one gets that quite right but this movie kinda does. Peter O’Toole looks nothing like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but Harvey Keitel looks remarkably like Harry Houdini. Something about the music and what they do with this story gets into your bloodstream. I couldn’t possibly spoil for anyone who knows nothing about it, but I can say that there is some incredible CGI and a scene where someone faces retribution from an unexpected and shocking source.

I found this in my drafts. Clearly, life got in the way and I didn’t continue my recommendation posts (I have the templates drafted in text form.) Also, while drafting this edit I was attacked by a small beetle. I remain unharmed and have released the beetle into its natural environment.
