「 ☆ 」   Chihiro was never too comfortable hanging around with girls. She always felt like an intruder amongst them. As if they could see right through her disguise to the secrets held beneath. No matter how nice they were, how often they smiled or tried to include her in their fun, she always felt like they were tricking her in some way. Pretending to want her around, but hoping that she’d decline. Too nice to ignore her, but too smart to believe she belonged with them. So, Chihiro would take the safest route. Keeping to herself, occasionally hanging around guys when the loneliness became too loud to ignore. True, guys were scary in a different way and being near them didn’t always turn out well…

Frankly, she felt like an outsider among them too. Like they were only accepting her because of what they wanted her to be, and would be disappointed if she wasn’t. Skeptical around girls, intimidated by guys, Chihiro used to wonder if she was simply meant to feel this way. If she was too broken to belong anywhere. How hard is it supposed to be— to simply exist?

Things are getting better now. Slowly but surely, she’s come to trust in the friends she’s made. Even if it’s only happenstance, a group of people shoved together in a room. Her class can be loud and overwhelming, but she’s also seen them be compassionate and gentle. She’s had kindness aimed toward her time and time again, without anything expected in return. With their help, their patience, she’s even started timidly branching out to people outside of the bubble of safety that is her class. She still doesn’t feel completely comfortable in who she is, but… right now it’s okay. Because Sayaka likes her. And her class likes her.

Even other people, those who aren’t as obligated to, like her too… and she likes them. Chihiro may even like someone a bit more than she should. But she can hardly help it. Standing before Sayaka, breath hitching instinctively when a hand moves towards her, body tensing as she holds her breath before slowly relaxing it in a long exhale, Chihiro’s stomach flutters at the mere thought of how they might react to her new look. Hands clasped in front of herself, wide eyes follow Sayaka’s hand as best she can as careful fingers run through her soft hair, before focusing back on her friend’s excited expression. She’s so happy. So eager to help.

Honestly? Chihiro feels her own excitement growing, the tightness in her chest loosening as she beams a grateful smile.  ❝  Really? That sounds wonderful!  ❞  Big eyes bright as honey, cheeks grow rosier with each awestruck word,  ❝  You’re so beautiful Sayaka, if you could make me look even a fraction as amazing as you do— Well, I’d owe you for the rest of my life!  ❞  Chihiro laughs, only partially-joking. At the very least, she already wants to do something nice to thank Sayaka for helping her explore a new look. And she hasn’t even had the makeover yet.

❝  Honestly? I don’t have much experience with things like make-up and fancy hairstyles and eye-catching clothes…  ❞  Chihiro sheepishly admits, averting her gaze and twirling a strand of hair around her finger. Lightly fidgeting in place, words softly fall to the ground, ❝ I’m not good at— this. ❞ Free hand awkwardly motions around, Chihiro wincing at her clumsy admission, ❝ At drawing attention to myself when I actually want to. Usually, I don’t want to… But- I think maybe, at least just once, I’d like to… to be- … pretty. ❞

Arms crossing, she timidly shrinks in on herself, ❝ Pretty the way girls like you are pretty. Jade, Jade I have a favour to ask: can you info dump about Dungeon Meshi? Work is going tits up and I was hoping for something to look forward to after my shift is over. Pretty pls?

Let me try because it's so hard not to spoil TOO much.

Dungeon Meshi is a manga about a group of adventurers who had a big fall when they were up against a red dragon and one of theirs (Falin) is killed/eaten. Once they manage to escape, the brother (Laios) wants to go back and save his sister. However, some of the members left because it's not worth the risk. Unfortunately, they don't have the golds to but supplies that then leads to the MC suggesting they should kill monsters to cook them. Who actually genuinely wants to eat monsters. He manage to convince them. Then, they meet with Senshi, who knows how to cook monsters and despite the other members reservation, enjoys the food Senshi cooked. This is a very brief summary but yeah. The running theme is going to be this, food.

The whole manga revolves around food. It starts with food and ends with food. Ryoko Kui is on point when it comes to the themes she made in the manga and it doesn't taper off. The manga have a lot of fun bits in and there are times where it's serious for character development. Like, it's a nice balance of fun and serious if that makes sense. It's not too overwhelming with information and you can see how it progresses and not feel like it gives you whiplash. It tends to end the day when the group stops to eat and gives them a chance to talk/ contemplate on what had happened hence, character growth. Eating together is the main core of the manga. Moreover, to me especially, Ryoko Kui doesn't focus too much on any romantic subplots. There are a few tease for Falin/Marcille, but other than that, it's not her main focus. You can ship them but don't expect too much of it and honestly, I don't mind at all. I didn't read this manga for romantic subplots, I just love the world building and the individual characters themself. Despite being really horny, like legit horny, it's not in a sexual way kind of horny. It's more to horny of eating or being eaten. This post is better at explaining it than I could.

Characters summary:

You have an autistic MC, Laios, who is really fixated on monsters. He has a sister, Falin, who died saving the group from the red dragon. They both live a really hard life as Falin is the only one who is magically-inclined leading to their parents keeping her under a tight leash. The way they treated Laios, especially his dad, is bad because he's not like other 'normal' children.

A cringe fail half elf girl, Marcille, who has nightmares of people leaving her due to her long life expectancy.

A divorced short dad, Chilchuck, who gets treated as a kid because he's short and looks young (especially in early chapters but eventually tapers out as they grow together). He's a half-foot (a halfling in dnd terms).

You have Senshi the dwarf (the one who has the fanservice, you'll know why soon enough). He's the cook of the group.

Finally, honestly my favorite character, you have a cat girl, Izutsumi. She appears later in the manga though. She's not the typical overly cute cat girl you usually see in medias nowadays. She's the legit cat girl, as in she acts as a cat. Moreover, as the manga progresses you can see Chilchuck taking her under his wing and basically becomes her adopted dad (which is really cute).

Again, this is really a really brief summary of the characters. There's more depth to them but I'm not saying too much. Avoiding spoilers as best as I can. The ending, THE ENDING IS SO ON POINT AND ACTUALLY FEELS FULL!!!1 The main plot has ended but that doesn't mean it ends fully because it's been mentioned that Ryoko Kui will be writing/drawing epligoues for the characters after the main plot. Which is awesome.

oh man, basically everything i do here ! particularly the different relationships Rei gets to develop...i get legit emotional thinking about her slowly realising she matters as a Person and not as an object or an end to a means. I also love writing the dichotomy between her wisdom and her inexperience, because she's very wise and perceptive but at the same time is a child who's very limited in life.

i also LOVE writing hcs and metas!! there's so much to explore i never get sick of it. I haven't posted any of them yet bc i still have to make my thoughts coherent, but i especially love writing about rei's ""childhood"", as in her time as Rei 1. I also wanna write about the difference between Rei 2 and Rei 3 and explore how I can portray that in how I write them.

When writing I blurt out whatever comes to mind then spend a while re-wording + rearranging...a lot of the times i get stuck on a particular thing bc i want it to sound a certain way.

But when I can't start working on a reply right away I'll bullet point my ideas or any lines I wanna use then draft it so I don't forget.

I do ! I think at heart I'm very lovey dovey so I do enjoy shipping a lot. For Rei, in general she's not the most shippable. She struggles enough with making friends as is, and has so many emotional and mental struggles that make it difficult for her to connect with others. NOTP: I can't really think of a genuine NOTP for Gavial, so I'm gonna make a controversial pick here and go with Gavial x Tomimi strictly because a) Tomimi being a romantically-unsuccessful failwoman is funny and b) @annierosaart showed me a screenshot that implies Utage wants to NTR Tomimi (because Utage's a fucking bully apparently)

BROTP: Gavial x Doctor. It's canon tbh, just look at her Alter's voice lines. Like come on, in her Invincible voice lines alone, she offers to take the Doctor back on vacation to see her home, wants to take them on a joyride in one of Zumama's mechs, and is implied to give them a shoulder massage. She also does in fact take them to see Acahualla in the Great Chief Returns event and shows a lot of care for her fragile little noncombatant Bro over the course of the event. It's clear from Great Chief Returns and her Invincible talk lines that the Doctor is very important to her, and even her regular form's talk lines imply some degree of closeness. Seriously go read them they're so good.

Also, Dreamer and I have conducted intensive research and concluded that Gavial, being a true Bro, would tell Doctor "nice cock", very loudly and to Kal'tsit's dismay, and give it a friendly squeeze, whether the cock in question be physical or spiritual. You know, as Bros do.

Gavial x Minimalist is my second BROTP, if only because Stitch Canvas is a little bitch and would totally hate it and I think that would be funny.

OTP: Gavial x Doctor. Yeah Gavial you just wanna rub all the tension out of their shoulders I'm sure that's totally platonic (also her Medic talk lines say she initiates physical contact to get closer to people alscoxcnv). Between that, the talk lines mentioned above, the way she took Doctor to a waterfall to go swimming (with their friends but still) and the way her talk lines indicate that both the Doctor themself and their good opinion is very important to her, this ends up being another one of the Doctor x Operator pairings that I feel actually works with the Doctor as a character instead of as a player stand-in.

Second choice pairing: Gavial x Pozëmka. Ideal City was so funny I legit spent the whole event thinking "Damn Pozzy wants that croc strap but she refuses to admit it and has no idea how to get it even if she did so the Belligerent Sexual Tension is just driving her nuts" and also they look cute together honestly. Gavial x Tomimi and Gavial x Eunectes also totally rule.

Fluffy pairing: Gavial x Doctor, Gavial x Tomimi

Angsty pairing: Gavial x Tomimi. Gavial is not great at angsting in general from what we've seen, but pre-Great Chief Returns Tomimi can carry the load for both of them.

Favorite poly ship: Gavial x Tomimi x Eunectes

Weirdest pairing: I don't think I really have any truly weird Gavial pairings but I really like the idea of Gavial x Indra x Specter x Lappland being Bros and Troublemakers and starting fights and causing problems. They make each other worse and more annoying.

I wish I was better at conveying my thoughts more eloquently but here's my very late journal of my thoughts on ep12.

After some technical difficulties I finally watched ep12 and I've go to say:

I LOVED IT SO DAMN MUCH YOU GUYS!!!! THIS SEASON FINALE WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!

That opening scene was so tense, you could literally cut the tension with a knife because of how thick it is.

Manaria was being a bitch again, I have a section on that so wait for that. The amulet was shown again but it wasn't used, I'm still crossing my fingers though because they keep focusing on that thing way too much! The scales were used in this episode however and DEAR GOD the that Ceremony had me at the edge of my seat clenchining my ass! I was legit going to die when Rae pulled out that twig!

I went from saying" never let this girl cook again" to laughing with joy when the tree sprouted up! Also can we talk about the tree for a minute? Imagine my fucking shock and hysterical breamdowm as a Lumity fan when I saw that tree for the first time! It was a tree that represented their love! You know what tree also basically does the same thing?

THE FUCKING LUMITREE!!!! THEY HAVE THEIR OWN FUCKING LUMITREE!!?!? WHEN I THOUGHT RAECLAIR DIDNT HAVE ANYMORE SIMILARITIES TO LUMITY IT KEEPS PROVING ME WRONG!!!! THESE TWO SHIPS SHARE SO MUCH DNA WITH EACHOTHER ITS UNREAL!!!! AM I LIKE THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THIS!?!?

Rae's confession was so raw and emotional to where you can feel the love flowing out of her words and you can see this is different from her other confessions cause she saying what she's wanted to say since the start and without hiding behind a mask this time. And when Clair admitted her feelings by pulling Rae away to protect her it was super sweet and shows that she's truly grown close to Rae. She even starts calling Rae by her name near the end of the episode instead of calling her "Commoner".

Clair was also great this episode, and she actually took my advice from my episode 11 rent post and reflected on her time with Rae. Her Freudian slips and gay panic because she's finally starting to fall for Rae were super cute and gave me a lot of "Ayo pause, run that back" moments!

I just got VERY autistic about the pairing and was the first person to suggest a name for them (I am the cesium person idr who came up with missfire rn but its also v cute :) )

as for headcanons here are some !!! (Under the cut for those who don't want to see my rambles :) )

Miss Pauling has (somewhat) learned all the languages the Mercs know! this was a job requirement as she had to make sure they weren't keeping secrets, but she does enjoy it. Pyro CAN speak they just don't like taking off their mask nor do they like shouting for people to be able to hear them (legit i have a friend who tried playing dnd in one of those and half the time he had to yell so i could hear him right next to me), so they use sign and writing stuff down to communicate a lot. She was the first person to be able to understand pyro using ASL and she was the one to encourage the team to learn.

Pyro has cronic pain (mecore) and often has flare ups after battles pretty often, and it makes it hard for them to move and shit because Their Legs are being Taken by the Demons. They tend to just try and power through despite feeling like their muscles are attacking them and refuse to tell medic because they feel like they'll just be dismissed as dramatic. While the other mercs have noticed something is up with Pyro when they get back to base most days, no one pushes them to hard on it since theyre always quick to deny any oddities in their behavior, but Ms. P knows because well... its her job to know. She did get them to go to medic and get pain meds to help, as well as laying down with them when its gets to be too much. she also got them a cane not long after to help them out as well as some cute stickers and stuff to decorate it with :)

Pauling hates loud noises if she doesn't feel she has any control over them (Mecore again). like a gunshot? eh half the time shes the one firing the gun, and if she isn't then soon she will be. But things like people suddenly shouting when she didn't expect it, thunder and fireworks, stuff like that will just really mess her up. Pyro is pretty neutral on loud noises like that (tho they LOVE thunder and storms in general) so typically they'll go find her and just sit down and enjoy the silence together away from that

its actually pyros love of storms that helps her enjoy them herself. I have to draw out my idea for this since its a very spesific gay little moment but she basically over their time together begins to associate rain with them and without realizing it starts to get just as excited about rain too :)

I can post some more hcs later but a lot of the ones I had to stop myself from posting are gonna be kinda mentioned in some fics im working on rn >:) Gonna finish chapter 2 of safe with me tonight hopefully so stay tuned for that!!

1. I have complex feelings for this ship bc I also really like them as just platonic shitty best friends but when I do ship them I think they're very cute together in a lowkey toxic way. 😂 What made me ship them was thinking that they're essentially the evil version of the science bros ship (Bruce and Tony) and how funny it would be at how horrified Bruce and Tony would be if these two dumbasses who are both convinced they're Bruce and Tony's arch rivals started dating. And then I actually got attached to the ship, it started off as mainly crack 😂. Another big attractor was chatting with you about your Justin and Emil bc they've got some wonderful chemistry going on in your rewrite 🤧

2. My favorite thing about the ship is how opposites attract it is lol. Since we've got smarmy, fancy, CEO asshole meeting super soldier actual (reformed) nutcase who mutated himself into a monster for fun. The opposites but then also the similarities bc at the end of the day they're both wildly insecure with enormous egos and they're both sluts for money and attention. Like I feel they'd be 10/10 conmen together once they're both out of jail 💀 But those similarities also can allow for some softer parts in the relationship too bc they understand each other better than anyone else what it means to throw your life away for a revenge fueled whim and wind up taking the fall for even the stuff that WASN'T their fault. Also definitely still not being over the people that drove them to such lengths in the first place. Like they def talk mad shit about Tony and Bruce together. It's healing 🤗

3. Unpopular opinion is probably just shipping them in general agssgshdhfhf, neither of them are very popular lmao but that's why i like them. The rare pairs are always the best 😭

Emil seems so appreciative of Jen helping him and then at the end there's the moment he protects her from the Intelligencia guys. 🥲🥲 And then Jen similarly becomes attached to him, she takes him up on his offer to come back to his ranch anytime if she feels she needs a break from the real world and then she is legit hurt that mans has been violating his parole behind her back. 🤧 I think she wants him to be better than he is willing to currently try to be, he's working on things still 💀, which just adds another layer to their relationship. I like to think if Emil has any shot at being actually redeemed in the MCU it's going to be through how he cares about Jen which just warms my heart so much. And while mans can be an asshole he's always been nothing but kind to Jen and she absolutely deserves a guy who's going to treat her well 🥲🥲🥲

2. My favorite things about the ship are how soft it allows them both to be. And also the angle of how Bruce is gonna handle it bc him being okay with Jen defending Blonsky in court is a lot different than this dude dating his cousin 😒😒😒 🤣 But mainly for Emil and Jen I just really love the idea of a more romantic relationship being a very good thing for them both. I think IF there is a person Emil will be less selfish for in canon it's probably going to be her (unless Nadia winds up being introduced in the MCU) and I think Jen would do well with being with someone that's going to move heaven and earth for her bc in She Hulk currently she's still pretty insecure when it comes to dating due to prior shitty experiences. I want her to be loved fr fr 🥲🥲 And then again, also the funnier side of things where there's the possibility of them being a couple but on opposite sides bc there's a lot of shenanigans that could ensue from that, like at some point mans will need to get a new lawyer if he doesn't shape up 😂.

Hello fellow truther! I will preface this by saying that I am just delusional enough to watch it all and ignore everything I don't like for the sake of my brainrot, so I've gone the distance. (Well. Hotch's distance anyway.)

For anyone not wanting post Season 6 spoilers (or legit hotchgan brain soup), do not read under the cut. <3

Savannah appears first in 9x08. I actually like her, if I'm being honest. Out of all the significant others I find her to be the best all around. She brings out some really cute moments in Derek.

Hotch gets himself a girlfriend around mid-season 7 (7x10) and she hangs around (in theory) until early Season 10 though you don't see her again after the end of Season 8. (The actress got a starring role on a different show.) I am not a Beth fan, I dislike the actress quite a bit however she does make Hotch smile a lot and for that I am thankful. You can't go wrong with smiling Hotch.

Derek's last episode is 11x18 and it's hard to watch after that, even for Hotch. Hotch's last episode is 12x02.

Now, with that all out of the way...I rarely watch past Season 10 before cycling back around to the beginning. The writing really took a nosedive, my favorites left, it's just not worth it when I've seen them all so many times. I'd rather spend my time in Seasons 3/4/5 where the good stuff lives. You know? But there are some really excellent hotchgan moments in Season 7 that I highly recommend, and a few in Season 8, and then again in 9 & 10 in spite of the girlfriend situations. I don't think any of those storylines are too hard to ignore to get to the good stuff. Feel free to send another ask or DM if you want specific episodes for those moments, if you plan not to watch the whole seasons or whatever. I got you.

I watched the whole series twice through (many years ago) without having a ship so I didn't have the same heartache you're experiencing. Nowadays, my brainrot kicks in and says that hotchgan endgame is the real deal. They retire in Chicago and raise their little family in peace and quiet forever and ever amen. And as long as I have words in my brain I'll indulge myself by writing out their forever.

Alastor and Vaggie (one was instant and the other slowly grew on me and now i legit can't choose)

Alastor is a trickster with standards, he punches up, confronts bullies, but honestly he's just so cute i automatically forgive him any crimes. Bonus points for helping me realize being affectionate with friends doesn't ruin your bad boy persona, it shows you're secure in it. Don't redeem him it's demon cruelty!

Vaggie is a tragic reformed soldier who desperately tries to repent for her war crimes; the juxtaposition of regular tough attitude and complete guard dropping for Charlie endeared me to her a lot. 'Whatever it takes' came up and i was like oooowww~

Also this scene before the final battle where she tells other hotel residents to save themselves cause "We.. I can't protect you anymore". She CARES

The funny thing is that Vaggie and Alastor share that strong preference to only socialize with women (me too! i feel so seen!) but CAN'T STAND each other

Innovative industry-changing trendsetting project we do not appreciate enough yet as a society. As a person who loves musicals, animated music videos, action, fighting and dancing, i was finally fed~

It's a crime it wasn't given more episodes; it's so tightly packed that even if i have some issues with pacing and priorities, i can't imagine HOW it can be rearranged without loosing important elements that are there already. I also firmly believe that fast story is better than less story so i'm against "just cut stuff out" approach

— The reason you end up in Heaven or Hell is that deep inside you're sure you deserve to go to Heaven or Hell (stole this idea from tumblr). That's how Adam ended up where he did. And sir Pentious unlocked a new mechanic cause he was exposed to the idea of redemption by Charlie (my 5 cents)

— There're more former exorcists in Hell besides Vaggie, and Carmilla saw them

— Rosie will teach Charlie how she made Cannibal town that nice of a place

— Alastor killed the most cruel and ruthless overlords, that's why the more decent ones, like Zestial / Carmilla / Rosie accepted him into the club (fandom commonplace)

— Alastor didn't kill Husk but kept his soul cause Husk wasn't that bad of a person in his overlord days and Alastor actually likes having him around

— Alastor doesn't own Nifty's soul

Charlie did her best in Masquerade and as an untrained group therapist at the Hotel, cut the girl some slack, she does learn from mistakes

It's possible for Alastor to simultaneously like and help Hotel residents when he can and pursue his own agenda when he must

Dog Signal Episode 17 Review - Ritsuka's Little Sister

This anime just hit me in the feels the third time straight. How is this even possible? Why is this anime so good? This time, the feelings I have are much stronger because I have two poodles that are senior dogs too. Their lives are going to end soon and I have to deal with that when the time comes. Watching this episode made me realize that I have to love them before they breath their last breaths. I need to spend more time with them…

Since Risala has retired from dog shows, she’s just a normal dog with a stylish haircut now. Originally, Fonte was going to shut down, but Ritsuka decided to take over as her mother and grandmother leave for another city to treat her the latter’s illness. Ritsuka loves her job, but sometimes, it can be hard when you’re doing everything. Because of work stress, she was on the verge of burn out, but she decides to enjoy her life outside of work to the point that she neglects Risala and fails to notice the changes in her health like excessive water drinking and lightly colored urine.

When Ritsuka learned that Risala has Cushing’s Syndrome, she becomes devastated. What is Cushing’s Syndrome? It’s a hormonal imbalance when the body produces too much cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that controls body weight and condition. It could either be in the pituitary gland or in the adrenals. For Risala, it’s in the former. She’s slowly losing fur and getting weaker. Ritsuka does put her on medications and she was able to live for one more year.

It was nice seeing how close she and Niwa are. They’re like zero boundaries friends. While they aren’t dating, they’re very touchy and can do things normal couple can do without thinking too much about it. They probably do have feelings for each other, but I’m sure they’re more focused on their jobs to focus on each other for now. Whether it’s romantic or platonic, you can see that they’re ultimate best friends. My favorite part is seeing Fujiwara shipping them so bad; he’s like their biggest shipper. Niwa ultimately talks some sense into Ritsuka after he notices her neglecting Risala, something unlike her. He wants her to get back on track and do something for her sister. Even if she’s no longer a show dog, Ritsuka can still make a cute haircut suitable for her and that’s what she does. Ritsuka was almost close to getting work burnout but thanks to Niwa, she gets herself together. I swear, Niwa solves everyone’s problem—Ritsuka’s not even a client and he solved her problem!

I was legit both Ema and Niwa when it came to tears. I’m glad that Ritsuka found a new appreciation for her job and decides to use it to help out customers, even those with ill dogs, because she wants them to live their lives too the fullest until the very end. She won’t get a new dog because it’s hard to care for another one after going through most of her life with Risala. Honestly, I don’t think I can take care of another dog if mine passes away. I don’t want to replace my cherished memories with my dogs. If any of you have old pets, how are you coping?

My Opinions on Every 5Ds Ship

Cuz I did this for VRAINS a while ago and today I thought “which other Yugioh shows do I have strong takes on the ships?” And so I settled on 5Ds because really, when do I not have a strong take on 5Ds? I’m excluding any ship with Leo and Luna by the way, they are too young to ship. If I miss any others, which is very possible, don’t hesitate to let me know. Finally, dub names. Because I enjoyed 5Ds primarily in dub so deal with it.

Alteregoshipping (Antinomy x Bruno)

I don’t understand shipping someone with themself, I think I made that clear in the VRAINS list. So again: “what? No.”

Androidshipping (Antinomy x Primo)

This is going to go for any other ships of this type but Primo is only one third of an interesting character and thus shipping him is odd to me. Plus the bulk of his appearances were in WRGP and the less I remember about that arc the better. This ship is another L.

AZshipping (Antinomy x Z-One)

Now this just sounds like Toolshipping but with extra steps. Well, I like Toolshipping, and I like robots, so I’d take this one if it were served to me. So it’s a yes.

Bigbirdshiping/Novashipping (Carly x Kalin)

I’ve encountered this ship before and I didn’t really get why it was a thing. I guess they were both Dark Signers and could share that survivors’ guilt/trauma. If Carly were to remember that is and I suppose it could be a decent “sunshine one lifts up the grumpy one” dynamic but… I already got that dynamic from Jack/Carly in the actual show. Why change perfection? *glares at post Dark Signers* Am I right? Okay ship I suppose, there’s potential, it just wouldn’t be my go to.

Bluebirdshipping (Crow x Bruno)

Gosh this ship name is so cute. I don’t remember any of their interactions but it’s a decent idea. Soft maybe on this one, I’d have to see it in action.

Blueroseshipping (Akiza x Bruno)

This wasn’t on the list but I’ve seen fanart of it and… yeah they didn’t interact much in canon (if at all in a substantial way) but I really enjoy the idea of this soft boy/tough girl dynamic. Maybe I’m projecting, but I like the idea of this ship. Not one I’d actively go for when I have options I prefer but it's a cute idea with cute fanart.

Boostershipping (Yusei x Rally)

Was I just weird for interpreting Rally as way younger than Yusei? Like a little brother figure? That’s how I always saw their relationship. So this ship is a no. They might actually be closer in age, anime ages are weird, but I can’t really get into this ship.

Brightshipping (Yusei x Akiza x Crow)

I’ll get to all these individual ships later but for now I’ll say, I like this as a vee because two of the pairs here are great and the other doesn’t appeal to me.

Careshipping (Jack x Mina)

I have several problems with this one. Mina worships the ground Jack walks on, which just isn’t a healthy way to feel about someone, and she’s… not his boss but it feels like she has too much power over him in the workplace, at least in the first two arcs and she seems older than him too so there’s just… too much of a power imbalance here, at least the way interpreted it. Plus I just… don’t really like Mina that much, sorry. So the ship is a no.

Chevaliershipping (Yusei x Sherry)

Meh. I don’t care. Not surprised this exists but I have no opinion on it whatsoever. It’s there.

Cupramenshipping (Lazar x Jack)

…these ship names are killing me. I can tell this is a crack ship and as a crack ship, it’s fantastic and hilarious. I want more of these idiots drooling over noodles together. This doesn’t work as a legit ship, Lazar is way too old for him, so logically, it’s a no. I just think it’s funny as shit.

Disdianshipping (Lester x Primo)

Th-they both make up- that’s Apori- I don’t- why-

Faithshipping (Yusei x Akiza)

I mean… I’ve talked about this one quite a bit already. It’s one of only two protag/lead girl ships I like (the other being Fruitshipping). I love the way Yusei supports her throughout the show. I love their little moments together, especially the scene where he comforts her after she finds out the truth about the Arcadia movement and all their moments in the godsend of an episode where Akiza learns to turbo duel. All the guys are really supportive of her but Yusei took it a step further. I love love love the rollerskates scene. He’s teasing but still supportive and sweet the whole time, and his unwavering belief in her abilities was just so damn sweet. it’s just a sweet ship. A bit vanilla I suppose but vanilla can be great with the right toppings and these two are topped with a lot of sweetness that I enjoy.

Firebirdshipping (Akiza x Crow)

And I also enjoy this! I thought their canon friendship in the show was really sweet. They always seem to lift each other up when they’re given chances to interact, I especially always loved the bit where Crow was initially jealous of Akiza when she took his spot on the team but after spending some time training with her, he realises he’s not really mad at her and switches to supporting her instead. Their moments in WRGP and Ark Cradle also contributed to this friendship standing out to me and after writing that one-shot about them reconnecting post series, I grew to enjoy the relationship as a romantic one. But don’t ask me to choose between it and Faith. I don’t wanna get involved in that ship war, they’re both about even for me.

Flowershipping (Akiza x Mina)

I couldn’t determine that this was a real ship but my opinion on it is pretty short and underwhelming: no because Akiza is one of my favourite characters of all time and deserves better than Mina. I don't dislike Mina but I don't care for her either.

Isolationshipping (Akiza x Misty)

“I don’t know your brother!” “You’re a liar and a murderer!” Are the only things I can remember these two saying to each other so I can’t really see it working out. Soft nah, not my thing.

Justiceshipping (Jack x Kaz)

I cannot remember who Kaz is, I’m not gonna lie. Even looking at pictures of him did nothing to jog my memory. Pre-WRGP and especially WRGP are such a blur for me so I have no opinion on this ship.

Kingcrabshipping (Jack x Yusei)

Normally I enjoy the protag/rival ships but… these characters are more like brothers so this ship is a no.

Kingshipping/Petshipping (Jack x Goodwin)

Ew ew ew ew ew ew no no no no no bad gross don’t like it. Kill it with fire.

Kizunashipping (Crow x Jack x Yusei)

Again, I see these three as adopted brothers of sorts, like Loki and Thor. Sure they’re not blood related but their relationship is more familial. Any one of these characters with Kalin would be a better option.

Leadershipping (Jack x Kalin x Yusei)

Yeah, there ya go. Stick a white-haired psycho twink in the middle of the two brothers and I can get behind it as a vee.

Yeah for some reason I didn’t interpret Kalin as a brother to them, maybe because he never really had the mother/son connection with Martha that the other three do and we learned he existed at kind of an odd time.

Aaaand back to two brothers. I do not ship the brothers, they are all Martha’s kids.

Omenshipping (Carly x Misty)

Honestly, before Jack swooped Carly off her feet and I got incredibly invested in that ship, I did have my eyes on Carly/Misty and on rewatches of Dark Signers… yeah, I wish they’d gotten to interact more, especially post Dark Signers. They clicked pretty well and the way Misty comforted her when she found out she was a Dark Signer was one of the few non Jack vs Carly scenes in the sub that actually stuck with me (the dub version of the scene was just kind of okay by comparison). It’s a decent ship, I like it.

Psychicshipping (Sayer x Akiza)

Ew gross oh god no get away from Akiza you freaking creep she is a minor what the fuck-

Punchshipping (Bruno x Jack)

Like Crow/Bruno, I’ve never really thought of this one though I feel like these two wouldn’t get along as well. Jack seemed pretty jealous/aggressive toward Bruno, at least when he first became a part of the crew. Could be an okay 'enemies to lovers' ship I guess but eh. Not my thing.

Ravenknightshipping (Crow x Sherry)

Okay so this one wasn’t on the masterlist I got but it is a ship I know exists so I wanted to talk about it. I’ll admit this ship did feel a bit… obligatory at first glance, like it only exists because “Yusei and Jack have girlfriends, Crow needs one too! So let’s ship him with this single girl!” But after seeing the Crow and Akiza vs Sherry duel, I did actually enjoy their interactions and can get behind this ship.

Regentshipping (Jack x Kalin)

Kalin with any of the Enforcers is a win. All these ships got the history and the bond and the chemistry and some damn good angst to back them up. And Jack can literally sweep Kalin off his feet. So I may not actively ship this one but if I see content of it, it gets a like from me.

Retributionshipping/Scoopshipping (Jack x Carly)

So according to the masterlist I’m using, “Retributionshipping” specifically refers to Dark Signer Carly while “Scoopshipping” is normal Carly and while I can understand these being separate in Duel Links or something, Dark Signer Carly in my mind isn’t really her own character, she’s Carly who’s been taken over by a dark force. Still Carly deep down just doesn’t always behave like herself. So these are the same ship to me and I don't feel like splitting them up. It’s also my favourite ship in 5Ds. I love them but to summarise, Jack and Carly’s relationship was the only plotpoint I cared about from beginning to end when I first watched 5Ds in sub (the dub added a lot more life to the show for me and I prefer it overall). I found their first meeting endearing and seeing them interact always put a smile on my face. Their relationship really changed both characters for the better and the payoff was legendary. Dub or sub, I always get teary eyed when I watch Jack’s attempted sacrifice and Carly dying in his arms. As much as Post Dark Signers retconning their relationship upset me, I will always look back fondly on Jack and Carly’s relationship in Dark Signers.

Reverseshipping (Crow x Kalin)

Again, Kalin with any of the Enforcers is a win and these two can bond over both having gone through prison and getting those markers. Also, Crow was always my favourite of the trio of brothers so this one is above Jack/Kalin in my mind for that reason alone. And yet… it’s still not my favourite Kalin ship.

Roseknightshipping (Sherry x Akiza)

I like the one little moment they share after Sherry’s duel with Yusei and Sherry being Akiza’s inspiration to start turbo duelling is definitely a great foundation. I would’ve liked more moments between them to back it up (before Ark Cradle) but it’s a fun ship.

Also, I’ve looked ahead and Akiza/Crow/Sherry doesn’t seem to be a ship (or at least not one with an official name) which is a shame because I actually really like the idea of them as a throupple, especially if it starts as Akiza and Crow inducting a shy confused Sherry into their relationship. Hehe, wink wink nudge nudge.

Ruinshipping (Akiza x Jack)

Honestly, all of Team 5Ds have such amazing chemistry that I can see any of the (OF AGE) characters being shipped. Out of the (OF AGE) ships in the group, this is probably the least appealing to me as they seem a little too similar but their memorable interactions in canon, Jack saving her from the crumbling building in Dark Signers (despite barely knowing her at the time), and Jack beating up the guys who tried to sabotage her Turbo duel against Trudge, are enough to make me believe these two are friends and with the right writing, could be more.

Sadistshipping (Mina x Goodwin)

Bleh, no. He’s too old for her. Granted, I did say I interpreted Mina as too old for Jack so like… in her twenties but… come on, a twenty year old dating someone with gray hair is weird, it’s just blatantly weird.

Satisfactionshipping (Crow x Kalin x Jack x Yusei)

Love the ship name, but I don’t like shipping the brothers with each other. If it’s just the three of them dating Kalin in a weird vee, then I can get behind it but as a… four person throupple (apparently it can be called a quad or a foursome) doesn’t work for me.

Squabbleshipping (Jack x Crow)

Nope, don’t ship the brothers and these two in particular are extremely dysfunctional.

Toolshipping (Yusei x Bruno)

If you kept up with my sporadic and polarised 5Ds liveblogs, you know I enjoy this ship. They clicked fast and Bruno sacrificing himself for Yusei, while not Jack/Carly levels of sadness, was still very moving and tragic. Ark Cradle really was such a breath of fresh air. And I like this ship.

Treasonshipping (Kalin x Yusei)

This one’s my favourite Kalin ship, no question. I love their duels in Dark Signers, I love how Yusei never stopped believing in him, I love the homie embrace in front of the rainbow, and my god did I have fun with Crashtown largely due to their gay as hell interactions and Kalin’s characterization. Just a great ship overall.

Trickstarshipping (Crow x Brave)

Not gonna lie, when I saw that ship name I expected some crossover ship involving Blue Angel. How did this ship get its name? I must know. I’m guessing Brave was the one who used the Loki card so the Trickstar association makes sense but where did the star part come from? Tell me please!

Anyways, I hated WRGP with a passion so Team Ragnarok, while mildly interesting due to their associations with Norse Mythology, never stuck out to me so I don’t remember any of these two’s interactions. Assuming they duelled but honestly for most of this arc my eyes were rolled to the back of my head just waiting for it to end so I can’t get into this ship.

Troolshipping (Bruno x Kalin x Yusei)

Okay so I couldn’t confirm this as a real ship but honestly, even if this ship name isn’t official, I love it. And I love this as a throupple. After all, why have Kalin and Bruno fight for Yusei’s hand in marriage when he has two hands?

Violetfrareshipping (Dragan x Jack)

Same as Trickstar. I can’t bring myself to care about WRGP or Team Ragnarok.

most badass character: honestly, I gotta say Kid - No mentor, no teacher, no granddad or anything. Aside from Killer and the people he eventually gathered up, he didn't have any real support or help, and how far he got on his own like that is impressive.

pairing I am not a fan of: None comes to mind. I can see the pros of pretty much any pairing. I'm personally not in for under age pairing, but I mean like, teenagers date. I was a teenager, I remember that. Cutesy stuff has no age concerns for me.

I really don't think Vegeta and Bulma was a great ship. It felt like it was out of nowhere and just done to justify the existence of another Super Saiyan in Trunks for the sake of the whole Terminator reference. I think Gohan x Videl is cute but that their relationship in Z was underdeveloped, which also leads me to question why so many seem to dislike the idea of Krillin and 18 for the same reason? Idk. I think it's weird that GoChi gets so much hate because Goku's "always gone training" and Chi-Chi is "always complaining about it" when we see literally the exact same stuff happen with Vegeta and Bulma and no one questions that relationship at all. I think Krillin is very shippable and think it's kind of bizarre that the guy who's the most caring, least self-focused, and most attentive s/o in the entire cast somehow is determined to be the least-deserving of any romance, even his canon one. I feel like people in the fandom really try to erase Goku and Krillin's bond, between the weird push to declare Vegeta as Goku's "real best friend" and also the weird claims I've seen lately that Vegeta's death on Namek and more recently Meerus' death in the Super manga motivated Goku more than Krillin's death did, to say nothing of seeing people think Krillin has zero skill as a fighter and no real value as a fighter (which has a very, very weird similarity to what the guys who used to abuse him at Orin used to say.) I think that Tien is asexual. Like, canonically, I think he's asexual. I think shipping Piccolo is a bit weird but mostly harmless so long as it's not the weird "cheating" context some like to use. I think we need a Krillin slice-of-life comedy spinoff.

This is a lot to unpack but legit legit I agree with most of it—

Vegebul was pretty random I agree. We saw none of the actual development. I think the fact that Toriyama had initially planned for vegeta to stay dead on namek (or so I’ve heard) might actually play into that. There are only two saiyans of age and so vegeta was really the only one that made sense to have bulma’s bb daddy be … I guess. Like I understand the logic but I agree that it was pretty random. At first it was less of a ship too and mostly like baby daddy vegeta and rich irresponsible mom bulma and they don’t interact ????? In my opinion …. Bulma is kinda a character I’m shocked doesn’t get shipped more randomly since she is the one who canonically is kinda comedically thirsty over hot guys she sees (like zarbon or uhhhh the blue guy from red ribbon army) love that about her though

Hanvi is cosmetically very cute but I won’t lie, I didn’t ship it ever like at all. As a kid I didn’t like Videl and as an adult I didn’t really have any feelings towards her. Gohan is like. I grew up next to him he is my brother.. so I want the best for him … so I don’t know I was always miffed about it but then pan in the new movie finally turned me around I like pan ….. so basically I don’t ship it but I would feel bad to erase son pan from existence in an AU (which I would do anyways sorry)

Terrible or Potentially Amazing Ship Ask (I threw in a few OC/Canon Characters but feel free to ignore): Angel/Melony, Max/Lake, Angel/Lake, Melony/Elizabeta, Melony/Alcina, Mia/Angel, Melony/Elizabeta

Aight I'mma start with the ones that I don't think work for one reason or another.

Angel/Melony

Alrigh so, the main problem with this one is… Angel doesn't date women pfff. Maybe in some AU where one of them is AMAB it would work but as is Angel wouldn't be into it. (Also I feel like Melon is lowkey scared of them). All that said, Angel would definatly awaken some things in Melony that Cassandra doesn’t.

Melony/Alcina

This one I have talked about, and it has the potential to be either really cute or really… weird. Because I think Melony would end up seeing Alcina as more of a motherly figure (and not in a "omg Mommy~" kind of way. Like a legit mom figure way) just because of how Alcina acts. Which makes for some weird…Oedipus type thing in my mind. It just rides a fine line to me and the thought weirds me out pfff.

Mia/Angel

Same reason as Mel and Angel, they don't date women. HOWEVER, I do think these two have a potential for an interesting relationship. Like, the idea of Mia dating a murderer feels really interesting because I think Angel would end up inadvertently giving Mia a kind of complex about the things she’s done. Mia confessing to Angel “I’ve killed innocent people.” and Angel being like “That’s so hot.” and basically telling Mia the shit she did isn’t a big deal. Not that it wasn’t her fault, or that she shouldn’t feel guilty/upset, but that they find it attractive and want details. Because that’s like… the shit they live for. (Watch that translate into their sex life somehow.) I do think the only real reason Angel would date/be attracted to Mia, though, would be genital preference.

Okay, now the others;

Max/Lake

Okay, so, I’ve said Max is straight before BUT this relationship is interesting because it would be a purely sexual thing since Lake is Aromantic. I don’t think Max would ever date a man, or an AMAB Non-Binary person like Lake. Sexually, however, I think he’s slightly more open. I think this would be kind of a… “We meet up to smoke pot and sometimes we hook up” type of thing. Like it’s very Friends with Benefits. I feel like they have great sex, though. Max definitely leads/doms, but they’re both switches for sure, and Lake doesn’t mind getting pulled around. And you know they can go for hours. I don’t think they cuddle or do a whole lot of after stuff, because it’s just not their thing. (It’s also a weird thing of like… Max fucks them, because they want it [and they’re a good lay], but he doesn’t hold any major attraction towards them) Outside of sex, they’re still friendly, but you can tell they aren’t like… besties or anything.

Angel/Lake

I like the idea of this one, but I also feel like it would be kind of one sided. It would start off as a sex thing, that over time Angel begins to take as some kind of romantic relationship (even though Lake never said anything about romance). Lowkey I think it would get kind of stalker-ish/yandere-ish (as much as I hate that word). Lake thinks Angel is really cool and they like hanging out with them for sure, and I think they could grow to have a strong platonic love for Angel, but I also thing there’s some part of Angel that would be upset over Lake not liking them romantically. Overall, a really interesting relationship, but probably inevitably ends badly.

Melony/Elizabeta

SO GOOD IT’S ON HERE TWICE! This is the top tier out of all of these imo. You know these two are HEALTHY AS FUCK. It’s soft and squishy and fucking adorable. You just know they’re both such gay disasters. Melony is embarrassed everytime Liza picks her up and carries her around. Liza is always blushing and clumsy around Melony, and you know Mel finds it adorable. Mel loves hearing Liza talk about plants and explain how they work, Liza always tries to help Mel bake despite knowing jack shit about it. They’re sitting by the fireplace with hot chocolate just snuggling together. Melon is devastated when Liza has to go to Donna’s, but they come over as often as possible and I feel like at some point, when Donna and Liza are closer, Donna would just… ask Alcina if she can have Melony as well, and then the two of them just live at Donna’s. And I think they’d be okay with that.

Look, I completely respect you if you ship Harmony. Because they twisted their dynamic so much in the movies. And we're already used to seeing male lead ending up with the closest female to them in media. So a lot of people shipping it is understandable. Also l don't like hating on ships as long as they're not explicitly abusive and/or problematic. So this is not a Harmony hate post by any means.

But this is just a shoutout to people who think Ron and Hermione is a disaster couple that fights all the time, yet Harry and Hermione would make a great couple with a cute, peaceful, happy marriage.

Especially people who think they should’ve gotten married or something

I hate to break it to you guys, but that would not happen. And I'm not saying because I don't like the ship. I'm just being realistic here.

There is no way Harry and Hermione could never be in a romantic relationship. People usually don't like the ship because they think Harry and Hermione are like siblings. And I completely agree with that. I think their relationship is so beautiful in a completely platonic way.

But that's not the only reason. I think a romantic relationship not only would ruin their relationship dynamic, but it would also turn it into something really toxic.

First of all, Hermione likes to be bossy and tell people what to do. Which is not a bad trait on it's own. But when it's combined with the way Harry hates being told what to do, and Hermione getting so annoyed when people don't listen her, that could cause huge arguments between them.

Also Harry needs someone to listen and understand him. However Hermione never seems to empathize with his feelings. In fact, she could be very judgmental sometimes.

We see the best example for it in O0TP: When Harry stops taking Occlumency lessons from Snape, he doesn't even tell Hermione. Because he doesn't think she would understand him and doesn't want to deal with the fuss she would make. This is not that much of a problem in a friendship. But not being able to talk about important things and your feeling with your partner is a huge problem.

Also they don't even enjoy each other's company enough to be in a relationship. Harry is legit miserable and bored when it's just the two of them. There were even nights they went to sleep without talking each other when Ron left. And don't tell me it's because they were stressed or something. Because the same thing happened in the GOF too.

There are even times when Harry is relieved when she isn't around.

All of these things are the reason why they are so much better as friends. In fact, I think they have a perfectly realistic sibling dynamic.

They don't always have long conversations, don't like to spend all of their times with each other and sometimes can even get bored of each other. But they still love each other so much and will always be there when the other needs them. That's all that matters.

And I think most of us are like this with our siblings. And that's completely okay. We're not exactly compatible, but the thing is, you don't have to be "compatible" with your siblings anyways.

However that's not how it works in a romantic relationship.

Like imagine them married. The house would be full of awkward silence. And through the later stages of their relationship there would be a time where they can't even stand each other's existence anymore

i'm really happy to hear that you like edelbowl! i style myself as the Queen of Edelbowl, for i am the one who named it (after the little witch academia ship akkobowl) and also was the first one to write a fic about it on AO3. if anyone was curious. (no one was curious.) and now there's like, several fics, and "Edelbowl" is a legit tag on AO3 (thank you rin).

as for more headcanons... i honestly have trouble just remembering headcanons off the top of my head unless i'm writing. and a lot of my fic writing is just flights of fancy. lime "oh, this would be funny/cute/other emotion".

obviously we've always got "akira thought she and michiru had been dating for several years", but that one's basically already in the Original Fic, so. they've definitely "practiced kissing" before. you know. for normal reasons. just love the idea of michiru hiding her crush on akira and akira being like "ah yes, that's my girlfriend, Michiru." let me see what else i can remember

fumi really wanted shiori to date, if anyone, mei fan. she kind of got her wish. it's just that she's dating the other three clowns too. (not to imply that mei fan is not a clown)

the yachiori aspect of the polycule took a while as yachiyo struggled to figure out if she really had feelings for shiori or if she just had lingering feelings for fumi that she was projecting onto her. but after yachiyo and fumi became friends again yachiyo realized that she didn't have any romantic feelings for fumi left, so she became less trepidant

a fun game they all like to play is to bully yachiyo by showing her genuine affection, which she Absolutely Cannot Handle. she can dish out flirting like nobody's business but she cannot take it at all

mei fan is extremely zealous about being the Best Girlfriend Ever(tm) early on, but mellows out a bit as time passes and she realizes she doesn't need to be On all the time.

akira and michiru are both extremely touch-starved without realizing it and have trouble just like. hugging and cuddling. luckily yachiyo, shiori, and especially mei fan are able to break them out of it. i guess this was kind of implied in "The King's Request"?
