ok this might seem like a bit of a dumb question, but is there any like official fanfic or smth of ATS or is it more like a running universe that you’ve created and make art for? Like do you have some sort of like way to read the full story or do you plan to make one, or is it more like a universe and characters you’ve made/are adding to over time?

SADLY no there is no current story written for it :’0 I mean I have a couple things sitting around for certain scenarios I’ve written out but yeah,,

I know that once I start “officially” working on ATS (I say that in quotes bc I’m p much working on it officially all the time anyway lmao) it’ll be a huge commitment so. That’s why there’s not any consumable story thing out there yet besides all the stuff on the official site and throughout the posts scattered on my blog. And at this point I don’t even know what direction I want to go with it. Written story? Webcomic? Game? Some other form of media? It’s a lot to consider haha

But yeah I do plan to make one eventually!! Can’t say when but it’s the Big Dream to make some sort of long running series that covers the plot of ATS ^^

As for now tho yes it’s just like you said it’s just a universe I’m continuously expanding and adding characters to. Super grateful for the interest hehe 🥰

Bromance is always about two lead guys in the drama bickering and fighting with each other, but at some point, they begin to be on the same page at the end of the story.

Like other bromances in other dramas, The King: Eternal Monarch is also serving us the best bromance of 2020. Jo Yeong, played by the ever-charismatic Woo Do Hwan, is the captain of the royal guards and Lee Gon’s most trusted best friend. Their friendship in the drama is one for the books. Jo Yeong often ignores and mocks Lee Gon, whose words are law in his Kingdom. Which for everyone is punishable by death, but for Jo Yeong? Nah. This proves that their friendship goes as far as 25 years ago when Lee Gon completed his first duty as the King of his Kingdom. Because, unlike other friendships, theirs started when Lee Gon had no one to share his cries with, but Jo Yeong was there for him. They cried and consoled each other.

Their brotherhood set the bars high, really high, when Jo Yeong decided to go back in time with Lee Gon, even if it meant not going back. OOPS SPOILER.

5. TOP TIER ACTING

Portraying a character is complex. And it’s even more complicated if you portray two characters. But that’s not the case in The King Eternal Monarch. Viewers are awed by how excellent the actors in playing their roles, esp. that these two roles are the exact opposite of each other. For instance, Woo Do Hwan plays the role of the serious and intimidating captain of the royal guards in the Kingdom of Corea. He also plays the role of his counterpart in the Republic of Korea, which is way different from his character as a captain. Unlike his intimidating aura in Corea, he is the bubbly and adorable Jo Eun Seop of Korea, a sibling to two twins.

What’s more amusing is the fact that the same actor plays two roles, but you either end up hating or loving the other, or you get attached to both characters. And that’s weird because they are the same actor, but different characters. Yep, weird.

6. Phenomenal Hallyu Stars in One Drama

The success of this drama also owes it to its stellar cast, both the main and supporting actors. This drama will give you all the feels once you hear Lee Min Ho saying the words “I love you.” Do you want to listen to him say it? Then better log in to your Netflix account and watch The King: Eternal Monarch. This drama is also receiving great feedback regarding the actors’ acting because some of the casts play two roles, and it’s a MASTERPIECE. No one can say it otherwise. It’s incredible how they can switch roles easily with just their gestures, eyes, and voice. Take for example, the roles played by Kim Go Eun. what are you working on right now? I recently started posting We Don’t Need To Say It, which is a multi-chap Memori actor AU. It’s a slow burn, don’t ask me how I looked at Murphy and Emori and decided to write a slow burn, but it’s what’s happening. I really do mean slow, the chapter I just finished writing is only the beginning of the angst, you’ve been warned. My beta tells me she hates me at least once a chapter if you want an idea of how angsty this is gonna get. I started out writing for Bellarke in this fandom, and I’ll be going back to that later this summer. Anyone who follows me knows I’m obsessed with Emma, and I have an Emma Bellarke AU that’s in the outlining stages currently. I’m hoping to work on it more once I get further into this Memori fic.

what’s something you’d like to write one day? The fic I’m working on now is actually the thing that I was like, “I want to write that one day”. I love actor AUs and I wanted to write one for some fandom at some point, and in January I got this idea, but I was working on other stuff, so I was like, well maybe I’ll write it this summer. And now I am! Though I would like to write something featuring dad!Murphy in the near future.

what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? It’s actually one I haven’t published yet! I participated in Bellarke Big Bang this year, and I wrote a soulmates rom-com fic. I’m excited to share it soon once we get the go-ahead, and the artist I got to work with @clarkeindra has made some amazing art to go with it! For ones that you can actually go physically read, I will say You’re Already Breaking My Heart. It was my first fic I wrote for t100 fandom, and also the first thing I wrote after a really long time of just not writing anything, so I’m proud of it for getting me back into something I love and I’m glad that other people seemed to enjoy it. It’s what got me more into this fandom in the first place and how I made some of my first friends.

why did you first start writing fic? I got more into writing around the time I started college, though I always used to write little stories. There were a few times I almost wrote fanfic before then, like the time I almost wrote a Glee fic in ninth grade, or the time my junior year of high school where I almost wrote a Downton Abbey fic where Sybil and Branson were pen pals while Sybil was on her nurses course in season 2. But the summer before college, I wanted to write, and didn’t have any ideas for characters, but I had just read a really amazing next-gen Harry Potter fic called “Potters, Weasleys, and Misguided Snogging” which made me ship Scorpius Malfoy and Lily Luna Potter, or Scorily. So I started writing a couple stories specifically for that ship, back when I still used FF.net. It was just a one-shot and a multi-chap I never finished, but it was fun to interact with people and get to hear what they liked about the story and that they hoped I continued it, so I guess I caught the fic writing bug then.

what frustrates you most about fic writing? I wish people would leave more kudos. I’ve had this discussion with some friends before where they’re like, “What makes you leave kudos on a fic?” and I leave kudos on most fics I read, so it’s very interesting to hear people say they don’t do that as liberally as I do. If I made it to the end of the story, I’m probably going to leave kudos. The writer kept me engaged long enough to get to the end, which I think is worthy of showing some sort of support, even if I don’t leave a comment. Though I am trying to get better about leaving comments more often. Kudos are a very low stakes way to show you like a story that someone put out. Afraid to comment, but want to show the author you enjoyed reading? Leave kudos. A couple of stories I have out have gotten a fair amount of hits, but the amount of kudos in comparison to the amount of people who have probably opened it is a little disheartening. I’ve also heard people say they don’t want to leave kudos on stories that have been out for a while, but I love to get kudos on my old work! It’s fun to see that people are still reading things I put out in like 2017 or even just last year. Kudos brighten my day just as much as comments do sometimes, especially when I know not everyone feels comfortable leaving a comment!

what are your top five songs right now? The answer to this is 98% always related to what I’m listening to when I’m working on a certain writing project lol.

what are your inspirations? Red, White & Royal Blue, since I read that recently. It honestly just made me want to write a movie, and I kind of hope that whatever TV or movie adaptation it ends up getting in the future I’m able to work on. I want to be a screenwriter, so I tend to get inspired by TV a lot. The Mindy Project, Insecure, and even Never Have I Ever are big inspirations for me. Or more like, anything that Issa Rae or Mindy Kaling are involved in, to be honest. I write a lot of modern AUs, so just anything that shows good relationship progression or has fun with mundane, everyday situations.

what first attracted you to Memori? what attracts you now? So fun fact, I stopped watching the show for a bit. I binged basically two seasons in a weekend while visiting a friend in like 2017, and I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t obsessed? Then I started s3 and a bunch of characters were getting on my nerves so I put it down for a while. Then I was on Tumblr at the beginning of 2019 and saw a gifset from 3x05 of Murphy and Emori kissing and I was kind of like, “That guy’s still alive? And he has a girlfriend?” So I started watching again, legit only because I was shook Murphy had survived lol. So the thing that first attracted me to them was just the fact that they were a couple at all, I guess. I’d say now that I’ve rewatched the show and seen their relationship develop, I love that these are two people who have always had to fend for themselves and kind of had that “me against the world” mentality. And then they find this other person that cares about them and wants to take care of them, and life becomes a lot less lonely. Also now we get to see their relationship after years together, so they’re very domestic, which adds this lovely sense of normalcy on this post-apocalyptic sci-fi show that I absolutely adore. Their interactions especially in s7 just read as a married couple who are very comfortable with each other, but still incredibly devoted to one another and in love.

Besides Memori, what character or pairing do you like best on t100? For ships, I also really like Bellarke. When I was more casually watching the first time around, I didn’t have much of an opinion on them/didn’t really ship it until season 4, but ever since then I’ve been on board. It’s very clear I’m a huge Memori person, but I do ship Murven, though mainly in AU settings. And Memoraven are my OT3!! My other fave character is Bellamy. And I feel like Gabriel has also quickly become a favorite for me. It’s definitely a mixture of his confused, but obsessed with science vibe on the show and the fact that he has been very fun to write in my actor AU when he makes appearances every so often.

why did you decide to start writing for bellarkefic-for-blm? Ever since I’ve been home due to the pandemic, writing has kind of been my escape. Weirdly enough, I’ve written so much (both fic and some real life stuff), even though I’m still working and everything like that. And when the BLM movement was getting a lot of traction specifically in our fandom spaces, I was immediately skeptical of people’s intentions because as a Black person in America specifically I’ve seen this happen before where all the attention is on this issue for a couple weeks and then everyone goes back to posting what they normally post about. And I guess this time things are a bit different, but the thing that began to frustrate me was seeing people shame others for saying they were going to watch the next episode of the show or for working on their fanfic. Fandom spaces have been my biggest escape from the news since March and while I was glad people were focusing on this sort of thing, I kind of hated the way people were making it out to be like this was a new issue when in reality it’s just my life. When I close my laptop and go out into the world, I’m still Black. I had considered opening my ask box up for prompts in exchange for someone donating to a bail fund or something like that, especially since I had just reached a follower milestone, but when I saw that Sam was organizing this and it was going to be an ongoing thing rather than just for a certain period of time, it was heartening to see someone realizing that this isn’t something we can just stop talking about even when the media moves on. The structure of these prompts makes it so that a person has to do a bit of research on BLM and educate themselves or confront the issue in a way they might not have had to before. And it gives me a chance to write things like my fluffy Memori wedding fic ! It’s a way to have my little fandom escape and also stay aware of what’s going on in the real world.

what’s your writing process like (esp for prompts, chopped!, etc)? I LOVE outlines! The Virgo in me loves to talk about my fic outlining process lol. With some short one-shots, I tend to just go in with a sentence or concept that I write at the top of the document and just write and see where that takes me. I also put at the top of the document all the things I want to tag it as when I go to post to AO3, so I don’t have to spend too much time thinking of those when it’s time to post. With multi-chap fics, I first make an ideas dump document which is just me typing out a bunch of thoughts, things like who’s in it, the premise, stuff like that. My actor AU has three preliminary documents: My ideas dump, the actual outline, and then the outline for what happens on each season of the TV show the characters are all on, since I reference those plot points a lot. For things like Chopped or prompts I receive, I do a mixture of the outline/ideas dump in one document. I put at the top all the information I received (so with prompts I tend to just copy/paste the ask from my inbox, and for Chopped the different tropes and theme), then think about what characters I want to use if it wasn’t specified, then kind of do bullet points on what happens in the story. These have all been really helpful in terms of keeping me on track, but I make sure to remind myself that things can change as I write and take a different direction than I expected. So my outlines are constantly changing, but the general idea is already written somewhere so I don’t get too stuck.

what are your thoughts on dad!murphy? The concept of dad!Murphy has really been living rent-free in my brain since before the beginning of season 7. I just kind of love the idea of Murphy (who is a character at first glance I feel like people don’t picture as much of a father figure) kind of falling into being a dad in an unexpected way, and then realizing how much he loves it. It’s just such a sweet thought, and I talked about it so much with some of my friends, that we started a Dad!Murphy Enthusiast Club server on discord (we’re always accepting members so DM me if you’d like to join us!). We just kind of talk about our dad!Murphy headcanons, share fics featuring dad!Murphy, and then get excited when people make new dad!Murphy content. It’s a fun time and though I am a very large Memori, I’m a multi-shipper at heart, and Murphy is one of those characters that I find easy to ship with a lot of people, so we love dad!Murphy in all forms!

what are some things you’d like to recommend?  This is a mix of Bellarke and Memori stuff, since that’s what I mainly read.

Literally everything @mobi-on-a-mission writes, but if I must get specific, then Revive and The Cockroach.

what are your takes/version of how the sequel trilogy went down? because i also have my own version in my head, not.... that, but im really interested in the ideas other people have had for it

hoo boy there’s a lot of ground to cover here lmao i will try to keep them as short as i can... i also enjoy multiple versions of events and outcomes for the sequels as long as they’re in-character so i’m not trying to say no other version of the sequels is good or cool bc only a sith deals in absolutes amirite? (i won’t apologize for that dumb joke.) first the jumping-off points:

first of all, i fully support Force-sensitive Finn. even if he didn’t become a full-blown Jedi, if the entire concept of the Jedi was reforged and we don’t see him become the kind of Jedi we saw in the prequels (more on that later), i see him as someone who was attuned to the Force in a way that is similar to how i conceive of Barriss; empathetic to the suffering and joy of others. this would drive him to defect from the Empire and fear it, too. i also saw him becoming a reluctant leader for the rebellion, and there’s a GREAT fic which i’ll link here that riffs on the idea that he creates a spark within the stormtrooper ranks and more and more of them begin to defect... which i love

Rey being a nobody is cool to me. the ONE character moment where she became super relatable for me was when she realized how frightened she was of her own Force abilities. but i don’t think she has to be the legacy of Palps to have that. she doesn’t need supercharged powers to be spooked by them in a post-Jedi Order world where the most recent memory anybody has of the Force is Vader. (also Rey being a Kenobi seems more out of character for Obi-Wan than anything else lol he was pretty committed to the ways of the Order even after they were destroyed, plus he already had one kid to furtively watch over... just imo). this also ties into my expansion on the Force.

Poe being not a carbon copy of Han. i think Leia looked after him, found him somehow after she sent Ben to the Jedi Academy and was a motherly figure in his life. i like the idea that he was a little shit, and she’s the one who taught him to turn his reactive defiance of authority into bravery when fighting for the rebels. i think he looked up to her, wanted to be a leader like her. i saw him in the position of generals like Akbar by the end, as he learns to balance risk-taking with steady leadership. I wanted to see that growth, how those leaders are formed, see Leia get to impart her wisdom to someone. (also i fully support Finn/Poe and Finn/Rey/Poe, i’m not a committed shipper so i’m down with no romance at all between them but those ships are choice af and Stormpilot is all Oscar Isaac wanted anyway, so...) plus can u imagine the dichotomy of Ben the fallen son with Poe, the “adopted” son who became what Ben couldn’t? the guilt of Leia for not knowing how to teach her son about the Force, doing better half-raising a nobody who had the same shitty attitude as Han when they met but no Force ability? THIS IS JUICY CHARACTER CONTENT

Rose was given cheesy lines to introduce an important topic: that fighting is all well and good but throwing away your principles defeats the purpose of the fight in the first place (an important theme in the Clone Wars era, too.) she was there to be the voice of the truly little people in the gffa, who we don’t hear much about in the other trilogies. Finn’s sensitivity puts him at risk of the sorrow-to-hate arc i described for Barriss; Rose is there to be the empathy that sustains hope rather than becomes a crushing weight. i love the idea that she might rally volunteers from blue-collar places (like... Lothal, for example?) and spearhead the notion that the New Republic should be very different from the old one, calling out the fact that working conditions didn’t change with the shift from republic to empire and the First Order simply took it to an extreme that left her and her sister with nothing else to lose.

Ben Solo, hoo boy. so here’s the thing, we don’t KNOW Ben Solo. we were expected to want him to be redeemed because he was the son of Han and Leia, and that’s it. that’s lazy as fuck. him killing Han in the first movie (if it happened it should have been in movie #2, that’s how fucking second acts work) was an excuse to shock people, subvert the ‘i can’t kill my own father’ thing, and make sure we knew he was “evil” even though we’re supposed to also want a redemption arc? you have to read the Rise of Kylo Ren comics to learn that he was a) hounded by the voice of Snoke in his head from childhood, manipulated by it, which is horrific bc it’s like grooming... or b) that he felt HUGE pressure as a legacy Force-user to save the galaxy, lead the New Jedi Order, etc. these are much more empathy-generating and we should have learned them in TFA. echoes of Anakin much? which is why i think him being redeemed in a way other than self-sacrifice (which made sense for Vader given his long history of being a terrible person, knowing it was too late for him in the end, and really just wanting to save his son rather than “become good again”) is more interesting than him just falling (which is too much the same as the prequels.)

it should have been Finn’s call, a moment of Truth that held the balance of Finn as either falling prey to darkness or learning forgiveness, whether or not Kylo got redeemed. Finn and Rey working together to get to that point while Rose and Poe took on the military aspect of the Big Finale would have been great. Finn with a lightsaber to Kylo’s throat, feeling the temptation to murder him instead of making him face what he’s become in a meaningful way? Rey trying to urge him away from darkness as she’s been tempted before, but this is the first time Finn’s really been tested, and he was the one who so often reminded her of her own humanity? Rey calling up Rose’s point of creating a new paradigm instead of recreating the old one, of Poe’s growth or Leia’s willingness to take Ben back showing it’s possible? shiiiiiiit

SO... given those things as a basis...

there being no scene where Force-ghost Anakin bops Kylo on the head (but you know, more subtly and with gorgeous metaphor ofc) was a travesty. we needed some version of that, also imo that reaffirms that Anakin was the chosen one... as him redirecting his grandson away from that path would be restoring hella balance

Snoke should have had his own fucked up backstory, if he was even there at all. a dark sider fucking with Ben Solo is reasonable to me, but Snoke could have been someone who looked up to Palps as much as Kylo supposedly looked up to Vader. that would have been interesting... maybe there are multiple “nobodies” who are being touched by the Force, just like there always were in the prequels era, but some are going dark with no Jedi to try to convince them otherwise? or, maybe Snoke’s life was ruined by the Empire and he chose to become the beast that harmed him, whereas Kylo becomes the version where you think you want to do that but then realize that it’s just as bad and you still have empathy and regret what you’ve done?

Thrawn being the main military antagonist, since they couldn’t be arsed to make Hux into anything but a sniveling baby fascist (despite his really upsetting backstory of an abusive father, also found in the comics... noticing a trend here?). Thrawn was already established and beloved in the legends. why would you not use him. whY?? he’s like a foil for Tarkin. contention between him and the Force-users in charge (Snoke and Kylo) would have been VERY interesting, esp with the character of Thrawn in the new canon seeing the Empire as a ‘necessary evil’ and now maybe having the potential to make it into something else? how’s JOINING WITH THE NEW REPUBLIC for a subversion of the classic tropes, Rian?????? you fucker????

if Thrawn’s history is “too storied” for a bunch of cowards to "fit” into a new movie trilogy, invent another antivillain to take Thrawn’s place whose history is a little more concurrent with the sequel era... you cowards

Luke fucking off after his failure isn’t out of character IMO. he was THE STRONGEST JEDI EVER and his star pupil still fell? maybe he broke under the same pressure Ben did. maybe that’s what allows him to reach back out towards Kylo and reconnect, admitting his failure. i want to hear more about him cutting himself off from the Force bc i LOVE KOTOR 2 and Kreia, but maybe that’s too much for one trilogy to delve into meaningfully, i dunno

Han fucking off after Ben wrecked the temple isn’t OOC either. i think Han was always a little frightened of the Force, the way many non-sensitives are. I think he was critical as a father, because he was critical of himself and Han is the king of projection. i wanted more of the dysfunctional relationship between him and Ben.

if Kylo kills Han, the scene needs to show more of the fact that Kylo actually regretted it, which Snoke only alludes to in TLJ, foreshadowing his future. i rewrote Han’s death scene for a friend and got a lot of good feedback about it so maybe i’ll post it here sometime. i can get behind a version where he doesn’t die, too, i just haven’t fleshed it out in my own head.

i like the idea that the Jedi Order needed to be remade, and that Luke saw the failure of the old order when he saw Ben turn like so many of the Jedi in the Order did. i like that Rey and Finn might spearhead this, and maybe Kylo’s role is to know the dark side intimately enough now that he can actually teach how it works, how to deal with it... how inevitable its temptation is. because...

in this canon, i don’t think the Force has light or darkness. i think it’s Force-users who do. it is their internal landscapes which cause them to “fall” or be redeemed or not, after all. Finn can attest to the same, so can Rey and Luke... so like, all the Jedi need DBT therapy or something i guess. lmao hold the dialectic, you nerds

the Force has shown time and time again that it cannot be “balanced” so maybe it is ourselves who need to become balanced instead

the Force is chaos, a never-ending series of colliding butterfly effects that to us will always and inevitably be seen as turmoil, cause and effect on a cosmic scale. if you drink too greedily of its power, or try to exert total control over it, by its nature it will consume you because it is beyond your mortal ken. whatever you hunger for, the force will give you more and more of it until you are overwhelmed, drowning in it

this is why peace was a central teaching of the Jedi... peace, the antithesis of chaos, which can only ever be created from within, the eye of the storm which must be sought time and time again

BEST WAYS TO APPROACH YOU FOR RP/PLOTTING:  I’m pretty anal about plotting in that I often refuse to RP unless it’s been plotted or I liked a starter call. And in the case of the latter, I’ll still hop into DMs to plot further depending on where the thread takes us. That said, the best way to reach me is through IMs or Discord (available on request). The only time I turn down plots is if I feel like it would put my character in an OOC situation, and I especially dislike my character being one-sidedly used as a tool to further another character’s development without anything being reciprocated (this happens often especially wrt my healer characters)

WHAT EXPECTATIONS DO YOU HOLD TOWARDS YOUR PLOTTING PARTNER: Communication is really important to me, especially with regards to comfort regarding certain plot elements, and approaching other in-character situations that might have multiple different solutions. I think it’s important that both characters involved get the same amount of development out of writing a thread, and I really hate the idea of being imbalanced as far as that goes (more on that below). That said, I’m always perfectly down to spitball plot ideas and tweak/refine other concepts because I really do enjoy plotting, it’s just super important to me that things are communicated clearly. I get extremely distressed and frustrated IRL if people just kinda throw stuff at me, and it often kills my muse.

WHEN YOU NOTICE THE PLOTTING IS RATHER ONE-SIDED, WHAT DO YOU DO?: I make an active effort to come up with plots that are engaging and beneficial fairly equally to both parties. I mentioned this above, but especially in the case of writing my healer characters, I have a huge disdain for characters being used as tools to further development while getting nothing substantial in return. That said, I try to be very aware of this in terms of a potential writing partner being on the receiving end. IMO it feels like shit, but I definitely don’t want to make someone else feel that way either. That said, so long as stuff is plotted out clearly and me and the writer are both okay with it, then it’s fine. COMMUNICATION IS KEY, BASICALLY.

HOW DO YOU USUALLY PLOT WITH OTHERS, DO YOU GIVE INPUT OR LEAVE MOST WORK TOWARDS YOUR PARTNER?:  I kinda just like to throw spaghetti at the wall and whatever sticks, I’m down to fly with. I have a lot of ideas, but again, I like to give my partners the option of doing whatever they’re comfortable with, and h aving equal contribution opportunities.

WHEN A PARTNER DROPS THE THREAD, DO YOU WISH TO KNOW?:   YES / NO / DEPENDS.

- AND WHY?: Everyone has their own circumstances, I really don’t mind. If it’s one I’ve been especially looking forward to, I might be bummed, but it’s no skin off my nose really.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY LEAD YOU TO DROP A THREAD?: I don’t typically drop threads or abandon them during their writing. The only thing that would make me do so is offensive content, or huge plot elements being introduced that makes my character ooc and wasn’t previously discussed during plotting.

IS COMMUNICATION IN THE RPC IMPORTANT TO YOU? YES / NO.

-AND WHY?: I already feel like I need to take a lot of extra steps to understand others and be understood, and that isn’t something often reciprocated. In my experience, just honest communication is the quickest solution to issues that crop up during writing. For those who HAVE actually had me reach out to them in this way, I really do try to be polite and respectful while being straightforward so the situation can be resolved without any hurt feelings.

ARE YOU OKAY WITH ABSOLUTE HONESTY, EVEN IF IT MAY MEANS HEARING SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT YOU AND/OR PORTRAYAL?: As long as it’s constructive, and not merely negativity, I welcome it. After all, I can’t fix a huge flaw in my writing without having an alternative solution. I’m open to accepting feedback and critique, especially wrt Meninas since my portrayal is quite a large departure from popular fanon perception (from those who choose to pay attention to her, lol), but I also thrive on suggested remedies and solutions to issues in my writing.

DO YOU THINK YOU CAN HANDLE SUCH SITUATION IN A MATURE WAY? YES / NO.

WHY DO YOU RP AGAIN, IS THERE A GOAL?: I like to tell stories, and I like to tell narratives that take root in emotional expression and how those feelings can act as a vehicle to the storytelling. I want to move people through feeling, because it can be a powerful experience. I use a lot of inspiration from themes in my other favorite series, as well as inspiration from my own personal experiences as well. I tend to pick characters who have one or two traits in common with myself, whether those be negative or positive. I’m very excited to share all the things I have planned for Meninas, as she’s certainly my most ambitious project to date.

WISHLIST, BE IT PLOTS OR SCENARIOS:  For Meninas specifically, I want to interact with Squad 11 and Squad 9 during the CFYOW verse I have planned. Hisagi specifically would be interesting because of the clash of ideals, in addition to being the only other living person to be able to relate to the horror of being under Pepe’s thrall. I’d also like to steal Ikkaku’s bankai, and have more fight scenes. Lastly, Meninas doesn’t do much of anything in CFYOW, so more interactions with Mayuri and Squad 12 would be cool.

THEMES I WON’T EVER RP / EXPLORE: I don’t mind briefly referencing darker themes in my writing, especially wrt my own personal experiences, but I want to be very clear that I refuse to write at length or romanticize these themes. I refuse to write anything involving rape, homophobia, transphobia, racism, pedophilia, etc, with this in mind.

WHAT TYPE OF STARTERS DO YOU PREFER / DISLIKE, CAN’T WORK WITH?: Unless previously discussed, I struggle with starters that have a character pushing mine away. If the situation is super OOC for my character to be in, or frankly too mundane. In Meninas’ case, most domestic stuff is a snoozefest for me (but I LOVE this for other characters).

WHAT TYPE OF CHARACTERS CATCH YOUR INTEREST THE MOST?:  *saoirse ronan voice* Women. UHHH but no, for real... I like fleshing out female characters quite a bit. Personality types are varied, but I like characters who have some level of nuance to their emotional expression whether it’s an internal or external struggle. I like powerful women too, and the exploration of “strength” as a theme (esp at the intersection of the theme of “femininity” and its expressions) whether this is external strength or internal fortitude. I think I play a wide variety of characters who have vastly different thoughts, beliefs, and forms of expression, but I try to find something in common with who I portray to act as a touch stone. I also like characters who have themes of “justice” and nuanced morality.

WHAT TYPE OF CHARACTERS CATCH YOUR INTEREST THE LEAST?: 99% of male characters. And I also hate tsunderes gjklsdjfd

WHAT ARE YOUR STRONG ASPECTS AS RP PARTNER?: I really like my writing style especially wrt using emotion to set a cinematic scene and overall tone. I think I’m really strong with conveying emotion, especially with things that are often unspoken. I try to communicate with partners clearly and establish rapports. I love writing headcanons and have a TON of plot ideas as well.

WHAT ARE YOUR WEAK ASPECTS AS RP PARTNER?: Oh I’m the slowest replier on the planet and I’m apparently intimidating lol

ARE SHIPS IMPORTANT TO YOU?: YES / NO. Relationships in general rule, and while I do have a romantic ship that plays a large part in Meninas’ plot, the romance comes secondary to the plot itself. I really enjoy writing and developing romances, but more than that I like establishing connections. I love the relationships I’ve got planned with Giselle, Candice, Liltotto, and Bambietta because there are going to be a LOT of drastically different things that inform my portrayal of Meninas coming from these relationships (both positive and negative, but ultimately places of growth).

WOULD YOU SAY YOUR BLOG IS SHIP-FOCUSED?: YES / NO. Like I said, plot comes first. And especially in the case of Meninas, she has a lot of self exploration and reflection to do before she can engage in a healthy relationship or address any feelings of romance. I do place a large focus on the formation of her relationships and how they shape the way she relates to other people and grows as a person, but I am extremely sensitive to making sure I’m not writing a female character who’s entire development is dependent on a romance with a male character- perish the thought lol.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO EXPLORE THE MOST IN YOUR SHIPS?: For Meninas, it’s a matter of her acknowledging, understanding, and accepting that she can be worth more than how useful she is to others. She had a series of traumatizing and character defining experiences regarding love, romance, and personal worth that strongly shaped the way she perceives her relationships to others and her emotional expression. Trust is another huge factor for me, Meninas needs to be around someone she believes in. Strength is another aspect. She likes someone who challenges her, keeps her on her toes, and is sturdy like physically. Because she’ll break you. THAT SAID- Meninas tends to be open wrt her body, but closed off when it comes to her heart. Hate to see it, love to write it.

ARE YOU OKAY WITH PRE-ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS?: YES / NO. As long as the premise makes sense. I like relationships to have some matter of significance and planning, especially because of how I’ve written the way Meninas picks and chooses who to get close to in Silbern depending on what suits her interests. Genuine friendship is a weird thing for Meninas, as most of her relationships are formed out of convenience. If you aren’t useful to Meninas’ schemeing, then she has no interest in dealing with you beyond platitudes and keeping up appearances and will interact with you as such.

- WHAT COULD POSSIBLY MAKE YOUR MUSE INTERESTING TOWARDS OTHERS, WHY SHOULD THEY RP WITH THIS PARTICULAR CHARACTER OF YOURS NOW, WHAT POSSIBLE PLOTS DO THEY OFFER?: WE LOVE DUPLICITOUS WOMEN! No, but at the core of my Meninas characterization, the sentiment is “Everything is not as it appears” even down to the relationships she has with others. Meninas’ entire personality is constructed as a survival tactic from an early age (in addition to being a way to make herself more useful as a tool to others, and thus seen as having more worth in general), and as a result, she hasn’t really allowed herself to live life as a fully realized person. Her plots generally offer silent rebellion, playing a role in regards to her self presentation, chaotic mean girl level bullshit, and cool fights/training. Also you get to interact with a big buff lady. That said about her personality, it depends on the verse. CFYOW Meninas will be more unhinged, while post-CFYOW Meninas will be more honest and rowdy.

- WITH WHAT TYPE OF MUSES DO YOU USUALLY STRUGGLE TO RP WITH?:  Muses who are standoffish or disengage right at the start. Meninas doesn’t interact with people without a certain purpose, so if they aren’t interested, she’s not going to be either.

- WHAT DO THEY DESIRE, IS THEIR GOAL?:  Revenge, strength, redefining what “power” means in terms of how the world works. She wants to see the Shinigami dead for their role in her parents deaths, and feels the same about Yhwach.

- WHAT CATCHES THEIR INTEREST FIRST WHEN MEETING SOMEONE NEW?:  Ability, potential threat, perceived strength, where loyalty lies; how potentially useful you can be to her.

- WHAT DO THEY VALUE IN A PERSON?:  Strength both in a physical sense, but also in belief and convictions. Honesty, and understanding the flaws of the world they live in.

- WHAT THEMES DO THEY LIKE TALKING ABOUT?:  Fighting, beauty, freedom, abolishing Quincy classism based on blood purity, music, fashion, blacksmithing.

- WHICH THEMES BORE THEM?: Blind loyalty to Yhwach, talking about the horrors of war as if it doesn’t concern them, Bambietta, Quincy supremacy,

- DID THEY EVER WENT THROUGH SOMETHING TRAUMATIC?:  Her parents were killed in the first Quincy war and she was left abandoned and grew up literally fighting for her life and living on the streets. She often likens fighting pits to the bowels of Hell (and I often play with the ironic theme of crawling out of hell to appear as an angel or something divine). She is consumed by a quest for revenge, and strongly believes her ends will justify the means taken to fulfill her ideal. As a direct result of these experiences, her emotional health and maturity is severely affected, and she doesn’t view herself as a person worthy or capable of feeling as much as a tool who, in the right hands, can be utilized to bring about the revenge she craves.

- WHAT COULD LEAD TO AN INSTANT KILL?:  (1) Men who feel non-consensually entitled to her body. That said, she’s done a fairly excellent job at maintaining control and an unassuming threatening nature despite the widely known understanding of her Schrift ability and how it augments. (2) Someone touching her Quincy cross, as it’s her most precious and private item. (3) Anyone who dares get in the way of her plans that can’t be manipulated in some other useful aspect.

- IS THERE SOMEONE /-THING THEY HATE?:  Meninas hates Yhwach, and the Shinigami most predominately, but she also harbors disgust for Hollows as an instinct. That said, her young life was spent detached from Quincy culture (in addition to being a Gemischt and the inherent isolation that comes with that status), so despite her early induction into the Wandenreich ranks, Meninas does not harbor the same Quincy nationalism and loyalty that others of her race do. They’re a means to an end, and just happen to help her become stronger.

alright  SO .  our  girl  natalie  was  born  on  april  13 ,  1952  to  michel  and  colette  beausoleil .  it  was  a  thursday ,  and  it  was  ALSO  eleven  weeks  before  colette’s  due  date ,  so  we  all  know  that  can’t  be  good 

( spoiler  alert :  it  wasn’t )

natalie  was  supposed  to  be  a  twin ,  but  the  other  baby  ( a  boy  named  pierre )  didn’t  survive .  they  didn’t  think  that  natalie  would ,  but  she did !  unfortunately ,  her  parents  were  too  wounded  by  the  loss  of  their  other  baby  and  it  was  all grieving  and  no  celebrating .  

also .  there’s  more  info  abt  her  parents  n  how  they  met  in  the  bio  but ,  a  sparknotes  version  is  that  michel  was  a  playwright  in  paris  and  colette  was  a  ballerina / his  muse  and  they  rushed  into  a  marriage 

michel  made  it  rly  big  a  couple  yrs  after  natalie  was  born  and  so  they  decided  to  use  that  $ $ $  to  send  natalie  away  to  an  expensive  boarding  school  in  london  called  our  lady  of  sacred  suffering .  it  was ,  of  course ,  a  catholic  girls  boarding  school  and  natalie  hated  it  there

but  they  hated  natalie  there  bc  she  was  just  the  WORST  catholic  school  girl  of  all  time ,  so  it  was  mutual

meanwhile ,  her  relationship  w  her  parents  is . .  very  complicated .  her  dad  is  just  kind  of  The  Worst  across  the  board ,  very  reliant  on  drinking ,  definitely  got  into  drug  use  at  some  point ,  had  lots  of  affairs  with  the  young  actresses  in  his  plays .  and  colette  was  just . .  very  sad  and  very  absent  so  the  support  was  Minimal

natalie  has  a  lot  of  issues  that  are  all  rooted  in  her  childhood  tbh .

on  her  eighteenth  birthday ,  natalie  receieves  a  card  in  the  mail  from  her  mother  for  the  First  Time  Ever .  and  she  immediately  is  like .  huh .  well .  something  is  Wrong .

she’s  right .

a  week  later ,  she  receives  word  that  her  parents  were  involved  in  a  serious  car  accident  at  the  pont  de  l’alma  tunnel  in  paris  and  her  did  not  survive  the  accident .

her  mother’s  family  is  not  convinced  that  michel  should  walk  away  from  this  without  blame  and  decides  to  take  legal  action  against  him  and  get  him  convicted  with  a  more  serious  charge  than  just  manslaughter . 

they  promise  to  keep  natalie  out  of  it  as  much  as  possible  but  when  it  comes  time  to  testify  as  to  whether  or  not  michel  had  a  history  of  not  caring  about  colette’s  life  and  well - being ,  the  only  one  who  can  speak  to  it  is  natalie .

so  she  testifies  and  it’s  her  testimony  that  is  the  metaphorical  nail  in  the  coffin .

michel  knows  it ,  too .  that’s  what  natalie  thinks .  he  turns  up  dead  in  his  jail  cell  the  day  before  he’s  supposed  to  be  sentenced .  she  never  knows  if  he  deserved  the  life  sentence  he  was  going  to  be  given .

so  then !  she’s  an  orphan !  but  she  does  gain  control  over  everything  that  her  parents  left  behind ,  which  turns  out  to  be  a  lot .  

she  sells  their  house  in  paris ,  goes  to  wales  to  begin  university ,  and  hasn’t  gone  back  since  then .  but  like ,  she  grew  up  in  london  for  the  most  part  so  she’s  not  exactly  sad  about  being  away  from  paris  and  all  the  ghosts  there .

and  now  she’s  at  sacred  heart ,  working  on  writing  her  debut  novel ,  which  is  the  ( albeit ,  dramatized  and  fictionalized )  story  of  her  parents !

After reading Annabeth saying Luke "always pushed himself too hard",and considering that he's the "best swordsman in 300 years"(surpassing children of Ares and Athena is a huge feat for a Hermes dude),I can't help but imagining him doing an Azula while training her lightning bending (one hair out of place! Almost is not enough!). Like,not wanting his swordfighting less than perfect(But Azula is undeniably a prodigy,and like someone else said,she works hard,but her work pays off rather quickly)

Cont. Since Azula is a natural talent,Luke would also need an inate aid for him,and that’s Roman ancestry (I won’t let go of it)). And we know that what made Azula like that was Ozai’s emotionally abusive BS. What do you think drove Luke to be that much of a perfectionist?

hey anon, thanks for being so patient with me. i’ve been working on a big project, finishing up my thesis, and binge-watching code geass lol

first, i really love the hc that Luke is a legacy of a Roman demigod. like it’s awesome and makes a lot of sense considering what we do know of Luke from both series. so i’m with ya there

i also think that his perfectionism, like Azula’s, stems from abuse as well. now it’s been a hot minute since i’ve watched a:tla, but i’m pretty sure much of the abuse Azula suffered from Ozai was largely verbal, emotional, and psychological (considering he burned and badly scarred his own son, tho, i wouldn’t put it past him to be physically abusive, but from what i remember of the show he wasn’t)

Luke’s abuse was neglect, psychological, and emotional. neglect from both Hermes and May. Hermes bc he was never fucking there, and if he was, he visited May in secret, that bastard. May bc she was psychological incapable of taking care and providing for Luke. the more i think about it, the more shocked and surprised i am that he didn’t starve to death or get sick bc May forgot to change his diaper or smth

it makes me think that her psychological state probably progressively got worse, so she was able enough to take care of him thru his baby/toddler years. regardless of what Rick knows, the fact still stands that she was neglectful, even if it wasn’t until later in Luke’s life

his abuse from May was also psychological and emotional. i mean, imagine, growing up with a mother who’s eyes turned toxic waste green, voice sounded like a swarm of bees, and spouted scary vague bullshit abt his fate? that’s traumatic for a fucking child! both psychologically and emotionally. it’s clear he loved his mother from the fact that he said he was leaving to protect her and that he’d be back for lunch. altho, he could also have just said that so he could leave. so he could hate his mother like he hates Hermes, bc she did decide to take on the Oracle, even tho she didn’t understand the risks, and even after Chiron warned her that smth was wrong, seeing as the Oracle was a rotting mummy by that point. and look, it’s not May’s fault that she didn’t know abt Hades’s curse, but like i said, the Oracle was a rotting mummy, and Chiron warned her abt unknown dangers and risks, and she still chose to do it.

anyway, suffice to say, his feelings are probably very mixed. he probably loves his mother in some way, but hates her for making such a risky decision when she had a fucking baby to take care of. Luke had to leave bc his father wasn’t there or answering his prayers. he didn’t know what had happened to make her like that, and she keeps spouting to him about some painful fate in his future. i mean can you imagine that feeling of being a lamb raised for slaughter and your godly father isn’t answering any of your prayers? trying to stop it? explaining himself why?

and even tho Hermes wasn’t there, his absence is also psychological and emotional abuse. and we see this a lot with a lot of the demigods in the series. they’re always striving for their godly parents’ approval. we see this in Percy, when he talks abt his first encounter with Poseidon. and we definitely see this in Annabeth, esp in MoA. Hermes’ neglect and absence communicates to a child who doesn’t know any better that they are unwanted and unloved. and some children will react by saying, “fuck them” while others will internalize the massage and wonder what they did wrong, as well as how they can earn that approval back (if it was there to begin with). most demigods, i’ve noticed, often react with the latter. bc on some level they love their godly parents despite their less than exemplary parenting, and despite not feeling loved by them

that abuse, that feeling of being unwanted, unloved, not enough, is probably what made him train so much. he wanted to be enough. it’s what made him want Hermes to give him a quest so badly–so he could prove to himself, but most importantly to his father, that he was capable and that he was worthy of his father’s love and attention.

which is why Hermes’s quest was such a slap in the face. retrieving a golden apple from the garden of Hesperides, as Luke says, is something the greatest hero in Greek and Roman mythology had already done. while Percy had a point, if Luke could pull it off, that meant he was as great as Hercules. but to Luke, he wasn’t proving himself to be worthy of Hermes’ love and attention. he was just proving he could complete a task that one of the greatest heroes in Greek and Roman mythology had already done

it’s so hard for me to articulate that difference rn–of being able to complete a task that someone great has done versus being compared to someone great because you’ve completed the same task, but there is a distinct, very fine, difference.

it’s not Luke’s. it’s Hercules’s. therefore, it is not proving his worth to Hermes, in Luke’s mind

which, I think, is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Luke was already angry at the gods for his mother, for leaving him in a house with his mother, for taking away a member of his found family (not doing anything to save her, a show if indifference, another lamb raised for slaughter). now this quest? not to mention, he then failed, and got a nasty scar to show for it on top of more trauma and PTSD wheeeee

so yeah, long story long, it also stems from emotional abuse. oftentimes, perfectionism stems from abuse, unfortunately. (the other is mental illness, and the last is sometimes it’s just in a person’s genes)

“I wanted to tell you before the others..."

Jungkook seemed worried now. "Is it something serious? Is something wrong?"

"No." You assured. "Things are fine...it's just that we've known each other for a while now and we've gotten really close but there's something I've been keeping to myself. Something you might not understand at first."

"But you can tell me anything..at least, I thought you knew that. I mean, I know we hardly ever have serious conversations but we're best friends aren't we?"

"Noona is that you?" He knocked on the door.

You sniffled and sat with your back against the door to make sure he wouldn't get in.

"What's wrong? Open the door." He said.

"I'm fine." You answered with a tiny shaky voice.

That only made him more anxious.

"Noona open the door. Let me see that you're fine." He said more sternly.

Embarrassed, you didn't want this to escalate anymore, especially over something so stupid as your emotions.

You stood up, turned around and unlocked the door. "I thought I told you not to call me that." You said, walking past him, trying to prevent him from seeing your swollen face.

"You're not fine." He said as he grabbed your arm and turned you around. He saw your face and he was holding you so tight you couldn't move away. "You're not fine, tell me what's wrong."

"Jungkook-" you began, seemingly bothered.

"What? Are you annoyed? You want me to give you space? Leave you alone to keep feeling bad? If it were me, would you just leave me alone? Answer honestly and I'll go if that's what you really choose." He said. You were kind of surprised at his tone. Yet he seemed so mature in that moment.

If it we're him, you wouldn't have left him alone either.

"What's wrong Y/N?" He asked again, wiping one of your fallen tears away.

You caught his hand. "Not here." You looked around.

The two of you were standing in the middle of the dance room. He had found you hiding out in the closet where all the props were stored.

You led him back into the room and he didn't want to let go of your hand so you guys sat side by side. Your hand was on your knee and his hand remained over yours.

"It's stupid..."

"I want to hear it." He said immediately.

You looked at him and his eyes assured you that he was there for you. How funny it seemed that just a few days ago you were thinking about how lucky he was being so young and naive. Now he was the one to bring you comfort along with a sense of security as he gave off a protective vibe.

"I was just remembering my old life...you know, back in the city. I got sad remembering some of the things I used to do every week.....My old routines and certain places I would go."

"You got homesick." Jungkook replied knowingly.

"But it's stupid. I left because I hated it there."

"Still, it's where you grew up. It's okay to miss things. Don't feel like you have to hate everything about it if you don't."

"How can I move on if I don't hate it? If I keep remembering the good stuff then I'll never move on. I can't go back."

"Why not?" He asked, trying to understand.

You looked at him and wondered.

Could you tell him? Would he pity you? Would he be surprised?

He thought you came here to pursue a music career but that wasn't the truth.

The truth was that you started out in the music industry alongside your ex-boyfriend. You were his producer and he was a singer.

The guys knew that you helped launch his career but you gave him a fake name, a rapper that recently blew up in the states.

They didn't know you two were together at one point and  that he was actually a singer, a very good one at that.

So you let them think he was rapper but he was a singer and sometimes they played his songs.

Namjoon particularly loved his music and rightfully so, but each time his song came on the radio you had get away somehow. You couldn't listen to his voice.

Things between you two started off like any terrible romance movie.

It was just the two of you creating music so different that the genre hardly existed in the mainstream area.

Songs about romance were typical but these songs talked about the ugly side of love.

Yet you and him were more in love than ever.

His first EP did well. It got him a sufficient fanbase and it  marked your first credited work. You two continued to work on new music and released the songs as they came.

This created a huge demand for a full length album but you guys lacked the funds for it to be as great as you envisioned it to be. As the fanbase grew steadily, the demand did too and labels began to notice.

Contracts were flooding his way.

Everything fell into place so perfectly. He said he wouldn't sign with anyone unless you were signed on as a co-producer too.

The labels worried about the relationship since you guys were just young lovers. No one knew about your relationship except the labels. The fans knew your name only because they hailed you as a great producer along his side. They encourage your friendship and we're excited to see if you would produce his next album as well.

With the looming demand for his next project, the labels agreed to hire you as a producer.

With a couple of signatures on paper, you guys now had money and fame.

Your names would pop up together all the time as the next great creators in the music industry. He was getting prepped to be a star while you were getting calls left and right from artists that wanted to be the next big thing.

But under contract, you were to focus on ****'s next album before working with other artists outside the label. That was not an issue since you and him were very much focused on his music and each other.

What was better than working with the person you loved? As far as anyone who knew could tell, you guys were the definition of soul mates. Perfect for each other.

Two young lovers somehow made their dreams come true.

Eventually he proposed in the simplest way possible.

It was right before the tour began.

One night in the studio he said he had an idea for a song so he pulled out a ukulele and started singing. He asked you to marry him and you obviously said yes.

Even now, admittedly.....he had your favorite voice in the whole world. You loved everything about his voice. Even when he spoke, you adored his speech and felt such comfort with each syllable.

No one could ever remove his voice from your memory.

The marriage was to be postponed until after the first tour.

Little did you know that tour would be the end of everything.

Touring was tough, especially on him but there were so many factors that led to his corruption.

At first it was fun, there was no denying that the rush of living out your dreams was incredible and worth every effort.

What started as celebratory gestures became endless rounds of booze and drugs. People left and right we're joining the crew, and they felt like friends at the beginning, but not your friends, his.

Why? Well, because he was the star. He was the one funding everything.

Partying each and every night when he should've been resting for the next stop, took a toll on you both.

Once the tour was over, the label expected another great project. That's the whole reason why you were to go on tour with him in the first place.

But with the hectic schedule, time with him felt restricted.

Only during the after parties did you guys really find time for yourselves without the worries about work.

But even then, free time was a rare occasion.

It got to a point where you two would disappear from the party just to fuck somewhere else and come back later, very inconspicuously.

Everyone knew what you two were up to, it was no secret.

You didn't like how crazy things were getting so you told him to go easy on the alcohol and drugs. It was already affecting his energy. The more you reminded him about the work, the more defensive he got and he fell harder into the party habits.

Things became worse and worse very quickly.

Fight after fight, he pushed you away. He cheated multiple times and it hurt you in a way that you didn't know was possible. Yet you stayed, hoping he could focus on what you guys had before.

But it was too late. His so called friends were practically using him. He was addicted to his ways of self medication. He had no focus anymore.

He was a different person most of the time.

When he was sober and in your bed however, he was absolutely the love of your life again.

Leaving his arms felt so wrong. You knew you couldn't live without him. You knew it but you were so weak and dumb.

After time and time again with the lies, the cheating, the fighting, the became relationship was so toxic that you finally wanted to leave.

You needed to leave for your own sanity. He was lost. He was suffering.

You knew that but you also knew that you couldn't help him. You couldn't save him from himself. Maybe leaving him would help him realize that this wasn't a game anymore.

When you had packed your bags and told him you were going home, he refused to acknowledge the end of your matrimonial engagement.

He wouldn't let you leave.

You had no choice but to leave when he wouldn't notice or be able to stop you.

Whatever love he ever felt for you turned into anger instantly.

He accused you of quitting without just reason. He told the label you were caught working for an artist outside the company.

With just those false accusations, the label took the few demos you guys had completed under full ownership.

Your equipment back at the studio was confiscated and they extracted every last track you had saved.

All of your hard work was now theirs.

He let them steal your content and he used it for his next album anyways.

The worst part was that you were the one painted out to be the bad guy. You were the one who was blackballed in the industry when his album did extremely well.

He changed the lyrics to a lot of the songs you guys created together, sending subliminal messages, making you the evil person in the relationship. Some of the lyrics however, we're brutally honest. They relayed your relationship truthfully and it hurt.

Jungkook held you tight in his arms now, trying to get you to stop shaking as you sobbed.

"They didn't stop there. The label threatened anyone who tried to meet with me. By then I had no more money. They sent loan sharks to threaten me....I had no choice but to move. Bang PD found me and I begged him to help me. I got on my knees and begged him to bring me here."

"Thank God he took you away from there. You're safe here now, you know that. You have me too, and everyone else. Fuck that guy and everything he did to you. You have every right to miss home. You grew up there. It might have become a living hell after everything that's happened but don't let him ruin everything for you. Don't let him win like that." He replied.

You realized that he was right. You couldn't let your stupid ex-boyfriend and shitty label continue to torment your mind if it was a thing of the past now. You were happy now.

"I miss this bakery I used to go to. They had the best milk tea."

"Milk tea?" He repeated. "I can get you that here. We can taste test a million of them until you find one that you like."

"Really?" You smirked. "That's ridiculous."

"Anything to get rid of homesickness. Sometimes our managers drive really far when we're in the states, just to get us Korean food." He explained.

"Right...you guys probably experience homesickness more than I do." You felt a bit embarrassed again for being so self centered.

He squeezed you in his arms again and gently swayed from side to side as he let out a big sigh. "Promise me you won't lock the door ever again. I need you to talk to me. Don't shut me out. How can I be your best friend if you push me away?"

"I promise." You nodded.

"Seriously Y/N, tell me if anything happens. If you're worried or afraid, tell me, tell Bang PD. We can always figure it out together."

He had managed to calm you down from that panic attack quickly. You felt much better about the past after that. You hadn't broken down in such a way since. That was when you really knew that Jungkook was your closest friend. That was when you really began to feel comfortable around him.

"We are best friends." You said. "I trust you. I just don't want you to think that I kept this from you for any particular reason other than the fact that it has to do with Yoongi....who is also your best friend."

"What about Yoongi?" He said anxiously. "Is work not going well?"

"Jungkook...." You looked away. "We're dating...Yoongi and I...we are together." You said looking at your fidgeting hands.

He just giggled, much to your surprise.

"Good one." He smirked. "I'm not falling for it, you have to try harder but be warned, I'm great at pranks too."

He got up to start the game console but before he could reach for the controller you blocked his way.

"I'm not....I'm not joking. You can ask him right now. He wouldn't joke about something like this."

Jungkook was the type to refuse to believe you without proof so you dialed Yoongi right there.

"Right. You guys are obviously in on this together. He's going to say 'yeah, we're dating or whatever' but I still won't believe it. He's been trying to come for my title as your best friend. Is that what you guys do now? Joke around like this?" He scoffed. "I can plan way better pranks."

"Hey, what's going on?" Yoongi asked through the phone.

"Come to Kookie's room.....I uhm...told him about us but he doesn't believe me. I should've told you I was going to tell him. I'm sorry, I just couldn't lie to him anymore. He thinks I'm playing some kind of joke."

"Haha. You're a great actress. You probably aren't even talking to him." Jungkook happily continued to put on the video game.

"It's okay. Open the door." Yoongi said and within a few seconds he had made his way over from his room.

"Where are you going?" Jungkook asked as you walked to the door.

Jungkook's expression changed once he saw Yoongi.

"You calling my girlfriend a liar?" He asked.

"No. That's Y/N, she's not your girlfriend..." Jungkook said blankly.

"We aren't joking...look I didn't say anything before because I wanted to protect her. Once people find out they'll treat her differently. I know this might be weird but it really isn't. We've been getting to know each other for a while and things just grew from there, I don't know. Do I really need to explain how this happened?" Yoongi gave him a look.

"That your dating my best friend? YEAH. How come you never mentioned anything before?" Jungkook looked back at you. "You never once mentioned that you were starting to feel something for each other. I thought we could talk about anything."

"That doesn't mean she has to tell you everything." Yoongi added. "This wasn't something that was planned. It just happened, and in order to protect her we decided it was best if people got to know her a little bit better. Once she gets settled inside the company, perhaps it'll be less shocking once we tell the rest of the staff."

"It's you were talking about." Jungkook stated, clearly upset now. "It's shocking nonetheless."

"I didn't think you would react this way, I'm sorry. I should have swallowed my pride and told you sooner."

"Don't worry about it. I'll get over it eventually." He said walking away.

"Wait, Jeon Jungkook." Yoongi called.

The door slammed shut behind him and you felt a huge weight press on your shoulders.

Where is he going? You were in his room...

"Hey, it's fine." Yoongi said, seeing you frown. He hugged you from behind. "Let him cool off a little. He needs his space."

You knew then where he was going. He was going back to the office building. He was going back to the closet where he once found you crying.

"No....I need to talk it out with him."

"I'm telling you, he's fine."

"Yoongi, think about it. This is serious. If he's not okay with this then it'll make things harder."

"For you, not for me."

"Yoongi." you sighed, turning around to face him.

"I've known him longer. Can you please just trust me on this one? Give it until tomorrow." He said.

You didn't want this to become an issue, so you agreed.

At first you thought Yoongi didn't care about Jungkook's opinion but he did. Sometimes he could be harsh but he even talked to you about it as you pondered what to say to him tomorrow.

Yoongi felt bad that Jungkook was taking it so strongly so he worried about what the others would say.

Most of all he wondered when you and Jungkook got so close that it would bother him so much.

You didn't want to tell him about your breakdown in the closet and the whole story about your ex. It was embarrassing.

Yoongi only saw you as this strong and independent creator that made a name for herself in the states. He only knew of the positive angles that the media reported when things were good. He had no idea about the bad stuff that went down.

You didn't want him to see you as weak or stupid for putting up with all that stuff and then running away.

That was the last thing you wanted him to see you as....

The next day Jungkook was no where to be found. He skipped the early morning recording session and the guys thought it was really unlike him so they got worried.

You and Yoongi had to spill the beans about what happened. The guys were supportive but they understood Jungkook's struggle.

Maybe it wasn't necessarily about the two of you being together but if the relationship ended badly then it would place him in a really bad spot. It would make everything more awkward. He would be torn between two people he cares about.

You hadn't thought of that and even worse....what the guys didn't know is that Jungkook knew the type of person you were. He knew that if things ended badly, you would probably run away again.

"I didn't think this thing through all the way.." you admitted.

"I did. I knew what this meant when I asked you out....Does this mean you've changed your mind?" Yoongi asked seriously.

"No. Of course not." You assured him. "I'm late for a meeting. I'll talk to you later."

"Wait." He said stopping you in your tracks.

You walked back over to him and he seemed anxious.

There was a tension building up between the two of you. If things continued this way then surely it would result in your first fight.

"I'm sorry." He said, making your heart melt. "I'll talk to him the next time I see him."

"When I said I didn't think this through, it wasn't because I was regretting our decision to be together. I'm sorry my wording was dumb."

"I love you...You know I never wanted this. I just wanted to make music. If we can do that together, for as long as possible then I'll be happy. This fame doesn't mean anything to me."

You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him. "Would you really choose me over them? I won't let you. Don't make me the reason you guys fall apart. You guys mean a lot to a lot of people.....I think I know where he is. I'm going to look for him after my meeting."

"Okay. I'll see you tonight then." He kissed you again.

You felt butterflies in your stomach. You guys were so close to arguing but he handled everything so well.

This is what a real relationship is like...

This is how healthy relationships should function....

Or so you thought...

"Hey." You said softly and he gave you a weak "hey" back.

He was sitting in the closet, a bottle of water on his right and a pillow on his left.

"Did you sleep here?" You asked.

He didn't answer but he patted the pillow, motioning for you to sit down.

You did and there was a long silence.

He didn't seem angry, more like depressed.

"I'm sorry." You finally said.

He turned to you and shook his head. "Don't...." He turned away again. "If you really love him then I'm happy he has someone like you."

"If things don't work out-"

"I'll side with you." He said.

"What?" You had a case of Deja Vu. Yoongi was saying the exact same thing before.

"If you guys break up. I won't be his friend anymore, just yours."

"That makes no sense."

It sounded so immature when he said that. As if choosing sides was necessary.

"If he breaks your heart, I won't be able to forgive him." Jungkook said firmly. "You are a good person. He is questionable sometimes."

Again, he proved you wrong. He wasn't being immature, he was just worried about you and for some reason it made you upset.

"Why is everything so black and white when you talk about our relationship?"

"He is a very black and white person. Things are simple to him. That might hurt you in the end." He stated.

Was he trying to convince you or warn you that dating Yoongi was a mistake?

"If you're worried that a breakup could lead to your friendship falling apart, you have every right to be mad at me. I didn't think about that but I doubt that could happen. This isn't a game to either one of us. We made this decision together. We aren't just testing the waters. We're serious about each other. If it ends, it doesn't mean it'll end on bad terms. You're young, and you might not understand but-"

"I'm tired of you assuming I don't understand because I'm younger than you." He raised his voice slightly. "It's only a couple of years. I know what it's like to care about someone so much it hurts. I know what a relationship is. You may think I'm overreacting but if you guys break up then this isn't just something to put in the past. You work here. You have to see him everyday and you have no where else to go. Will you leave to some other foreign land where no one knows you? Will you be able to say goodbye to me so easily?"

"I can't promise that won't happen but it won't be easy leaving. It never is." You replied.

"I'll tell him everything then. You won't leave without him knowing the truth. I will tell everyone everything."

"I know you. I know you would never do that. You're talking as if this is definite. You're talking as if we already broke up."

"I wish you guys would! He is so arrogant and selfish for even considering this as a possibility, but why should I be surprised? The band means shit to him." He yelled.

You couldn't reply back. He was right. You knew he was right, and he knew it too by your lack of response.

"Why would you consider it too?" He asked, defeated. There were tears in his eyes.

"Because I love him Jungkook....I don't know what else to say but I'm sorry. I wish I had told you sooner." You got up.

You wanted to hide your face as always. He followed you and he spun you around.

"No I am." He said placing a hand on your cheek and his forehead against yours. "I'm sorry."

"What are you saying Jungkook?" You felt your cheeks flush. "Please don't be upset. Don't cry."

His face was so close to yours and you could almost hear his heart racing too.

His lips met yours and you backed away immediately.

"Jungkook!" You held him back.

"I was in love with you and yet you never even noticed. For that I'm sorry. From now on, you can be happy with him and when he hurts you please don't come crying to me."

"I don't- Are you saying we're not friends anymore?" You asked.

You could forgive him for stealing a kiss but for behaving this way in general and ending your friendship so abruptly, you felt hurt.

"That's exactly what I'm saying." He said, pushing your hand away.

He got up and left. You were frozen in place, wondering how he could treat you like that.

He was the one acting like your friendship meant nothing now. He was done pretending to be your friend when he really wanted more and it hurt to know that he was hiding that this whole time.

You replayed his words over and over again. He was a fake.

This whole time, he was trying to be the Jungkook you liked the most, not himself.

You ran outside the door but he was already gone so you ran back to the studios to find Yoongi who was no where in sight.

Your emotions got the better of you and people saw you crying as you rushed to leave the building. They were tears of anger and hurt.

Jungkook probably felt the same way but you couldn't pity him. He brought this onto himself. He was no longer your friend.

Announcement: New Muse(s?) Incoming

Actually, possibly two, though I’d like a bit of input first if at all possible.

The one that I for sure have in the works is an OC I had back when I first joined the pokemon roleplaying community back during the ORAS hype: my Team Aqua grunt Alphonse. He’s a tall gangly softboy whose signature pokemon is a sassy Girafarig he named Banana. He’s a pro at names, guys. Always dooting a kazoo or trying to cheer people up with puns, he’s the sweetest ‘villain’ around. Joined Team Aqua more for the roof over his head and steady income but couldn’t really care less about the team’s ultimate goals, but the team in general has become so much like a family to him that he’ll do whatever he can for them.

Now, there was one other muse I wanted to add... but I can’t really pick between the two OCs. I’d like to see which one, if either, y’all might be interested in interacting with? Or maybe both??? I’ll ramble a bit about them each beyond the cut cus it’s kinda long oops... there’s tl;drs under each character if it’s too much to read at once gjbdfgh

One of the two would be a trainer unaffiliated with any team or organization, Cooper Evans. His signature pokemon is an Espurr named Marnie, who is an intense busybody and a walking callout post of a cat and likes to abuse her telepathy to pester people... when Coop isn’t around, anyway. She’ll only behave around him. As you can see through the link he doesn’t have a very human appearance, so trying to figure out a pokeverse for him has been a bit tricky.

I’m still figuring it out, but first option is he might be a human/ultra beast fusion made secretly in Aether’s underground labs out of an unofficial ultra beast called UB Infinity or Neuroboros, a serpentine psychic/poison purple dragon captured by Aether and kept under lock and key to be studied while it slumbered away biting its own tail. The fusion was with a comatose and deathly ill young Cooper in a desperate attempt by an Aether scientist to bring him back from the brink of death.

Or I’ll remove the Aether aspect entirely and he’s fused with various mundane pokemon in an attempt to give him a stronger body. Pokemon like Nidoking, Espurr, and Feraligatr, and possibly others were used. Either way he takes on a very inhuman appearance and has to find a way to fit in without, yknow, scaring the living daylights out of people. He typically does this by dressing like the Poke Maniac trainer class. Big stuffed nidoking suit to hide his tail and ears in with slots to put his horns through, and a simple cloth mask to hide his jagged teeth. He’s got an excuse for any odd trait of his when asked. But ye, he’s at least 19 and an absolute meme. An obnoxious little meme. He hasn’t given up on dabbing yet, but when it comes to memes his favorite has to be the classic rick roll.

I have yet to find a fitting faceclaim of him due to his unique face, so chances are I’ll have to commission some simple icons. But until then I’m thinking Shigeo Kageyama would do well enough, since it’s close enough to his previously human appearance. gamefreak tried to be slick with allistair the purble masked spooky boy but coop was first!!!!

TL;DR: Psychic Purple Little Man Tries To Blend In With Normal Humans, Has The Power of Anxiety And Anime On His Side. And A Cat.

My other option... Aleksey Volkov (< each name is a link! warning for shirtless old sketch in the second half???), the ‘Beast of Rocket’. (Not to be confused with pokespe’s ‘three beasts of rocket’) Though likely without the fluffy ears/tail... maybe. I dunno. I’m kind of attached to them. He’s at least around 30 years old. He studied the differences and commonalities between humans and pokemon--particularly humans with ESP and pokemon that are said to have originally been human. His goal was to unlock the 'innate power' he believed each human to have, which was comparable to a pokemon and its moves/abilities. His theory was that ancient humans had powers akin to pokemon and his goal was to activate those ancient genes in modern humans.

His experiments were getting some interesting results, but he got the attention of Team Rocket before long. They abducted him and his wife and daughter, using his family as leverage to get him to work for them. Their goal was to use him to find a way to harness the energy of pokemon to give humans superhuman abilities, much in the same line as what he was doing already. This was in a particularly cold part of the world, so traits were chosen from ursaring, piloswine, and mightyena to create a superhuman who was perfectly suited to fighting in subzero temperatures.

When it came time to test what he currently had, he refused to test on anyone else but himself. It worked, in a way, turning him into an actual manbearpig... but also scrambling up his head to the point where he was difficult to control and no longer seemed to remember anything in regards to the project, or... much of anything else, actually. The project deemed a failure and not even remembering his own family, what he became was instead used as muscle for Team Rocket whenever they need to dish out knuckle sandwiches for whatever reason. Typically loaned out to the different executives and admins, either as a bodyguard, enforcer, or something of an assassin, as any evidence left behind would point to some wild pokemon attack, not a human, right?

His faceclaim would be Klaus Von Reinherz. I mean, look at him!!! the lil tusks... the sideburns... it him.

TL;DR: Doctor Prettyboy is forced by Team Rocket to make a super soldier potion. He tests it on himself and becomes Manbearpig. He is now huge and angry and strong but can’t remember anything else. Team Rocket is keeping him as a sexy, sexy weapon. Quite possibly over eight feet tall even while slightly hunched over.

I genuinely can’t pick one or the other because I love them both and think they’d both have a lot of potential for neat interactions. Can you see your characters interacting with either of these? Note: Each placement/sign is split into mini sections for easier reading. Again, these aren’t flushed out. They’re just my interpretations. There are different component/sides to the sign that I didn’t touch on.

Virgo Sun | 2nd Decan (Saturn/Capricorn)

Ok first of all, he’s a lot harder on himself than we realize and it’s not just because he’s thoughtful (that Libra Mercury) 

With his Sun (ego/esteem) being in Virgo with the sub-ruler in Capricorn/Saturn, he might find himself being pretty self-critical, prone to putting himself down/talking to himself in order to ‘snap himself out of it’/understand himself better.

Understanding that Saturn brings a disciplinarian attitude. Sometimes towards their external environment (Capricorn) and to themselves (Virgo). 

They tend to be pretty hard-headed (stubborn) when faced with opposition/challenges in life because there’s always that sense of confronting/overcoming the adversaries in order to feel accomplished in themselves

Sun-ego/self-esteem/sense of self is tied into this ‘serious’ undertone Capricorn/Saturn brings. Demonstrated into an attitude towards work, that is more somber (in tone) when he’s working towards accomplishments/achievements he wants to have/create. 

It’s part of the reason why he has a very humbling acceptance/response to his successes. He’s always very tenacious/driven about doing the actual back work, so the result/rewards of the progress is balanced through Virgo’s modest, calmer charm. (Capricorn cardinal pushing for his successes, Virgo mutable gracefully and tactfully accepting those successes. Sun-decan)    

Virgo also has a sturdiness that is tinted from Capricorn/Saturn influence, giving it an inner conviction that backs his opinion.

Meaning that while he might be very opinionated, he’s often very stubborn as well.   

A Virgo-Virgo (JK) might be more hot-headed, but a Virgo-Capricorn/ Virgo-Taurus is a lot more hard-headed. 

There’s this sturdiness (‘pushiness’) in expressing his ideas/desire without backing down. But whilst Virgo-Taurus can be obstinately pushy, a Virgo-Capricorn has a slight distinction. There’s a maturity to them (being the oldest of the earth signs) that will actually concede to another, if the point being made objectively surpassing their own ability to contribute to the argument/conversation (for the better good).

With Virgo-Capricorn, whether they’re the teacher or the student here, if they could learn something/concede to the point being made then they’ll back down/accept their role as the student. 

But if they think their points are contributing to the greater good (surpassing their counterparts) the they absolutely would not back down. (pridefulness/ego as well)

Cardinal tint (Capricorn)- confronts himself/others, in order to achieve what his Sun wants/need. 

Fixed tint (Taurus) - convinced in his own desire/opinions, perseverance to achieve what his Sun wants/needs.

The big question here is whether he knows what he wants/needs or not. Whilst Fixed tint are often able to carry out their perseverance because they tend to know (intuitively sometimes) what’s better for themselves. The Cardinal here is about learning/growing as they go.

Combined that with the naturally mutable Virgo, a lot of the time it’s through fighting/growing like this that he figures out what he wants and what he desires to nourish his soul. 

It’s a lot of internal debate and self-questioning, transitioning and growing as he faces dangers and challenges in his life. 

A lot of the time, they do go through fluxes of ups and downs just because their emotional/inner need can tend to influence their subconscious and mind/thoughts a lot.  

His ego/self-esteem wants to understand itself, wants to solve what it wants externally. Virgo-Capricorn can pull this internal self-analysis outwards instead of letting it bounce around inside instead. (see: Namjoon talking to himself, figuring himself out, having a lot of thoughts on who he is and some of his existential crisis is reflected in his musics/lyrics/thoughts/notes) 

Sometimes letting it bounce around inside can feel really constricting, because Virgo can often have this ‘simplification process’ going on inside of them already (take notice of it, like an internal organization system that wants to put everything in order/hierarchy to make externalizing thoughts easier for the Virgo natives themselves.) 

When the idea/desire seems to be a bigger problem there’s a natural tendency to ‘flatten’ the dimensionality of the thought/desire to make it more manageable for themselves. 

However, with a Capricorn decan there’s a desire/inquiring need to actually pull it outwards to study it deeper. Capricorn (cardinal) doesn’t just talk about pursuing something, it’s also pulling it’s depth out as well (like Scorpio’s intensity/focus, but Capricorn tends to focus on it in a tangible way/thus pull it outwards).  

When you pull the thought outwards, it has more range to expand itself in because it’s not constricted by just his sun anymore. It’s his Mercury, Venus, Moon, Mars helping it as well.

Like chemicals sometimes, contained inside a bottle it’s not reacting to anything. But once you put it in a test tube, it might start reacting to air/water/solubles you add to it. Putting thoughts/ideas out of the container (inside of himself) and exposing it to the elements (external factors) adding solubles (influences of placements) to it creates a reaction, a way to understand/build up this sense of self (Sun) is to get exposure. Even if that exposure is merely, saying it aloud or putting the thought into existence. Manifestation is key (Capricorn externalization helping Virgo internal thoughts desire/process becoming more solid) 

A lot of the time, the best method is a lot like sound-boarding off of himself. Virgo is a mercurial sign that talks about tangibility (earth, Mercury ruled), Capricorn helps express that.He wants some sort of organization in his life. 

One of the biggest challenge Virgo-Capricorn faces is feeling out of control (not really understanding certain part of themselves.)

They dig deep into the smaller details (Virgo) of what makes them do that certain thing. And then it bothers them so much, they might find themselves wanting to pull it out of themselves. 

Since Virgo are capable of doing most of the verbally expressing part on their own already, the difficulty natives might find themselves facing is that it’s not solid enough/substantial enough to confront the problem. (leads to confusion, taking breaks, not really understanding how to help themselves sometimes esp since it’s the Sun)

Capricorn helps with the confronting aspect, it helps enables this act of externalizing and creating substance from the thought because of it’s Saturn/Cardinal nature. And as a grounded/very set earth-sign.  

It helps manifests the thoughts/ideas/desire of the Sun physically. Makes it more grounded/tangible - link the thought to things to actually do about it, resources, reference, expansion on the idea without losing train of thoughts), so he can face it instead of struggle with it internally. 

That’s what I mean by sturdier, just the resourcefulness/steady-handedness Capricorn brings to Virgo Sun’s desire, helping it out/supporting it. (Sun-decan) 

Virgo dimensionality (2-D-ness) could be restricting, and Capricorn usually has a huge depth of thoughts/emotions to them (that they unfortunately just like suppressing).

Placement-decans are usually see-sawing off of each other’s strength and weaknesses. This is Capricorn using it’s organizational and depth (best attribute) to help Virgo solve it’s disorganization/dimensionality problem.

So the commonality between them is organization/structure, but their difference/aptitude helps each other out (in a very earth sign way: compromising for progress/better good) 

Capricorn’s worse trait is it’s suppression of it’s own depth. But as a decan, it’s not really forcing Namjoon to restrict himself. It helps him to face his own problems/confront things inside himself that Virgo brings to the table. The problems (confusion) being addressed is Virgo’s problem, Capricorn does it’s best to help progress/further it a long (and if it can’t contribute constructively, then they both have to learn how to adapt/collaborate unplanned. Bc earth signs.)

This is the difference between Sun-decan, the rulership/power dynamic is always for the purpose of benefiting from one another/supporting one another. Besides giving a tonality/personality to the ruling sign, it also adds an element of support/attributes to it help it progress as well. 

So you can see it as a kind of team work here. Instead of Capricorn taking the reign it’s just-- what he expresses in his face. This serious side of Namjoon/his more sober nature we don’t really get to see is the Capricorn decan in his Sun. 

It’s the process he has to go through in order to come post-production on broadcast (vlive behind, interview, etc.) when Libra Mercury can take the reign -- talking about the product of his Sun. (see further in the Moon section and Mercury section below) 

That’s part of why Namjoon’s so forthright and honest with his thoughts/feelings-- because if it comes from inside himself, the deepest part of his thoughts and his sincerity/integrity (sun - sense of self, ego, desire) then everything he’s saying/talking about he has conviction behind it. (Capricorn helping backed/sustain the Virgo’s desire/thoughts/wants)

He truly believes in what he’s saying, and if he doesn’t then it’s going to eat him up on the inside first. (Virgo internally/dimensionality, Capricorn need for depth/intensity)

Virgo Sun: Libra Mercury 

With Namjoon the significance of his Sun here is crucial. Most likely, its probably his strongest/sturdiest core. If he has a good solid base to work from, then this Virgo (Mercury ruled) is influencing how it’s being used in his Libra Mercury as well. 

It helps with understanding how eloquent the Libra Mercury comes across, as well as Namjoon’s involvement in his intellect (it fuels his own Sun). So it’s like, grinding/good concept -> push it onto Libra Mercury to externalize. 

Case study: compare it to Jimin who has the same Libra Mercury, you can see the similarity in style of speech (divert, smoothing over, etc) but Namjoon seems to have a focus on self-improvement (in a different way than Jimin does) self-reflection/evaluation (critically), on-going thoughts/ideas that sub verge with each other and concepts (post-production stage: conclusion of what he’s read/seen/observed) -- it’s not just all from his Sagittarius Moon (yes, he speaks with emotional investment there) but it’s also from his Sun. 

His desire to pursue, share and truly connect has to come from his Sun. Otherwise there’s no real sense of fulfillment or ‘self-love’ there for him. 

If it’s not fueling his own sense of self, his desire or his honest wants/needs (Sun) then it’s never going to be satisfying enough for him. It’ll become a yo-yo effect because he can only sustain it for a certain amount of time. If it’s just from his Moon (or any other placements), the emotional satisfaction and growth only goes for so long without another support (in this case, the Sun) behind it. 

Values of placements, signs and power in each person’s chart is different. But just from first-view/brief observation you can see that it plays an importance to him consciously (not intentional but if you pay attention, there’s a strong Virgo sense to him there when he’s expressing himself/his core beneath the other placements)

Jimin’s similar in how his Sun actually supports his Mercury here. With them both being in Libra, you can see how Jimin’s focus is different. 

When they talk, Jimin’s speech is a similar style to Namjoon (smoothing over, harmonic, over-arching) but his focus seems to be on desire/goals(personal ambition), relationship (socially), balance/justice (harmony) and compromising (peace). 

Their focus differs because it’s backed by different signs/placements.

In one of Namjoon’s vlive he’d mentioned before that Jimin and him are actually quite similar. Part of it is because they share that Libra Mercury (and Scorpio Venus) but while that means they do have similar style of thoughts (have thought/touched around the subject before) the pursuing of their focus they choose to really invest in (things they care about/fuel them individually) are different. 

They’re supportive of each other because they have similar ideas/style/thoughts, but they’re different from each other because the backing (emotional attachment/sense of fulfillment/self-expression) are personal to them individually (intimate to their own persons)

So now we look at the details. While they’re similar with their Libra Mercury, Namjoon’s tone and motivation (influenced by the backing) much more forceful than Jimin is. 

(Jimin is forceful in a different way, his tone is different from Namjoon. I’ll touch on that more when I do his actual inner planet reading)

His Sun (Virgo-Capricorn) has a pushiness to it, a serious/soberness that still comes through. A stubbornness/testament to his struggles (processing point) from earlier before he reaches this post-production part (the actual sharing with the world part). 

The disciplinarian Sun-tint definitely comes through. Capricorn here gives him less of a focus on the harmonic, but more of a teacher/authority to his voice. 

When he’s being the leader, making speech, it comes through this way. 

Jimin has a different tone/style than Namjoon (with the same Mercury, but backed up differently). He tends to go for a smooth style of speech and a quieter/linker type of speaker (in both public and private). His style is more about the transition/being tactful than Namjoon’s forceful/authoritative nature 

Consider: looking at Namjoon talking in private/public + Jimin talking in private/public -- there’s a difference, not just because Namjoon’s a leader and Jimin supports his ideas. But also what is pulling them together and distincting them apart in their individual style of speaking as well. 

Thoughts align similarly, supportive of each other. But the focus/compliments Jimin brings to light about Namjoon is what Jimin focuses on/is backed up from, which Namjoon is different to.  

Back to Namjoon, there’s more conviction and purpose here. If it’s supported by his Sun: when he says things from the heart he’s much sturdier than being caught off guard with just his Libra Mercury. (The importance of being supported/working well with your placement) 

Virgo Sun: Virgo ‘messiness’/Understanding Themselves

A bit more on Virgo Sun-Capricorn decan: A lot of the time when he has his inner-thoughts/figuring himself out moments, in the long-run it looks like it’s sporadic but on-going. (meaning: not during the process, but it’s habitual behaviour since pre-debut -> now) 

It’s not like Namjoon is constantly on the grind to discover himself as his main goal (dig himself deeper into the hole) nor is he heavily burdened trying to look for the ‘one true answer’ so he can get his life organized and start doing stuff (like a sudden ‘aha! i figure my life goals/wants out now’ moment) -- we’re just trying to look at how he works.

The mutable quality (Virgo) here is good for him because it makes him take breaks from the Capricorn’s pursuit/grind. And the Capricorn is good for him because it gives him long-term perseverance and goals to achieve/look forward to in the future. 

It’s good to be ‘sporadic’ since Virgo would need the time/space to recover and re-organize. It’s also good that it’s ‘on-going’ because Capricorn would allow him to continue to move forward and reach different ‘rest stop’ a long the way. (that motion/drive forward, along with enough ‘rest’ and ‘release’ from Virgo)

It’s like a train ride, each station/stop becomes a ‘semi-conclusion/satisfying-enough-solution’ to some part of his life long inquiry/self-discovery journey.   

Hitting a bit more on traits to do with this Virgo-Capricorn Sun (for Namjoon): methods/form of self-pep (talking to himself), writing his thoughts/ideas down, flow-chart/diagrams (visually), lyrics/crafting. Any organizational method for himself to figure out his internal desire would help, but most of all it’s in writing/creating (tangibility)  

The thoughtfulness/overthinking trait probably stems from part of his Sun as well. 

Namjoon’s known for his intellect, and a part of it is because it’s strongly correlated to this Virgo (Virgo - mercury, influencing his Libra Mercury.) His intellect is part of his sense of pride/ego/self. It’s also what helps him figure himself out a lot of the time.

He’s always going to be observative: talk to himself about himself, about concepts/things that’s bothering him. About the little things and structure and bigger establishment/plans/goals and ideas. (Capricorn decan- Sagittarius Moon) 

He’s always going to question the smallest part of himself and try to structure it somehow. 

It helps with intellectualization, but also visualization/manifesting it into reality. 

Actions he can take to help it out, he will in order to pursue that ‘on-going’-ness he brings.

A lot of the time, he gets so consumed in this part of himself that he tends to neglect/forget his external environment/smaller stuff. Losing things, being organized (in an conventional sense) keeping track of time/things. (Namjoon’s forgetfulness isn’t just his Cancer Mars/Sagittarius Moon-- it’s this Sun as well)

A lot of it has to do with spontaneity that Virgo Sun also brings. He needs to figure it out, or else it eats up at his sense of self and he needs to figure it out now. 

Virgos already have a reputation for being externally organized, and while that might not be true for most Virgo natives that’s the challenge they often face in order to feel in control of themselves. 

A lot of the time, Virgo native probably doesn’t feel like they’re the hot-shit/top-stuff, but that structure that balance/inner fulfillment is what keeps them pursuing things and craving it/desire (Sun). 

They might find themselves doing a lot of things to fill that sense of self, that craving and void that they predict will become filled once they finish certain tasks/do things. There’s a lot of stuff burdening them personally, from their external environment to their deeper inner problem, so it’s just a matter of organizing/making a list/hierarchy to make things manageable for themselves to do. That’s their sense of pursuit and in a way, a resemblance of structure in their life whether they notice it or not. 

It’s not as if they’re extremely messy people, but they’re the one who brings the topic up the most. Namjoon and JK (and Hobi) are the few people who always brings up/mention how ‘messy’ or ‘disorganized’ something is/they are. Even when no one else thinks they are or has mentioned it. 

It’s this Sun’s focus/projection into caring about the little details that’s truly bringing it out. It’s a manifestation of their desire (wanting to clean up/organize/improve) because there’s always more. It’s almost metaphorical in a way, to compare external messiness to their inner thirst for improvement. Attaining that desire/happiness they want to achieve.  

Refer to the gif above, do you see the very organized and all aligned dolls behind him? That’s some Virgo shit right there. Remember his bed? How all his Ryans are stacked in some kind of orderly fashion? 

Namjoon’s not as ‘disorganized’ as he thinks he is. He emphasizes a lot on how he’s messy (verbally) and the things he do that contributes to this messiness (Hobi’s latest vlive in LA tour: Namjoon mentioning how he threw his pillows out of the bed) because it shows that there’s room for improvement, the desire for self-evaluation/being critical of himself = being able to work up to that standard they set up for themselves ( ‘perfectionist ideals’/ ‘standards’ that Virgo Sun aims for) 

Same as Jungkook, who always first to disclaim his external disorganization whenever the topic of visiting his studio/room comes out. But he doesn’t-- nag anyone about it. Namjoon doesn’t either. It’s not the mess anyone else made that matters, it’s the mess they themselves made that they feel is bothering them. 

Objectively, it’s not ‘messiness’ itself, it’s just their own personal senses/thoughts/feelings related to their ‘messiness’ that’s projected outwardly that’s bothering them. They want to be not messy inside. It’s part of why they approve of people who seems well-organized/well-groomed (has their inner shit sorted out) if they have their inner-shit sorted out, then that’s a whole huge bucket they don’t have to suffer through, right?

Also: They’re a lot more pre-occupied with other things (thinking/day-dreaming) to pay attention sometimes. 

(Virgo-Virgo for JK: his mind stuff mostly, Virgo-Capricorn for NJ: his life goals, plans, establishment mostly). But the significance of organization isn’t missed on them (when they ‘wake up’ or ‘come to’ and realize/note their external environment outside this Virgo thinking/day-dreaming bubble.) 

Maybe their sense of internal disorganization makes them anxious/nervous about being judged for their external organization.

Virgos tend to place their energy in trying to have some kind of order/structure about them. 

Often time this backfires in underdeveloped Virgos, they’ll end up over-organizing their external environment to make up for an internal disorganization problem. 

With Namjoon he’s internally disorganized so he relies on routine to create some kind structure in his life (externally: knowing where to go, what to visit, what he likes, his interest/knowing himself or figuring out himself helps a lot with it - part of Sag Moon but also Cancer Mars here as well) 

Virgo being a mercurial makes natives naturally curious. Also being an earth-sign, most of the interest doesn’t have to come to interacting with others. 

They can find enjoyment in studies, puzzles, setting up projects for themselves or even just pursuing personal interests (doll collection, supporting sustainable fashion, etc). Capricorn enables this tangibility quality to Virgo.

Compared to JK’s Virgo-Virgo: JK is much more interested/awed by other people’s thoughts, intellect and style. He’s interested in learning, while Namjoon here is interested in adding materials to himself. To teach and to share with others. His focus is much more self-geared here. 

Virgo Sun: Capricorn Decan - Moments of Solitude and Subtle Affections

Having this Capricorn decan makes him much more sympathetic to others, he exhibits the best quality of Capricorn which is perseverance, long-term studiousness, a sincere nature and an inner gentleness/dedication to his projects (even if he’s frustrated sometimes). 

Along with everything comes with moments of withdrawn. More so than the Virgo native (Virgo-Taurus/Virgo-Virgo), he has to have his moments alone to contemplate.

It’s not a bad thing to be withdrawn, it’s actually really helpful. Instead of being enthusiastic/always moving like JK, Namjoon’s much more cautious/calculative. 

He has the space to think things through, that stability/conclusive conviction in himself. It comes from that Capricorn decan influencing his Sun. 

Also a lot of-- subtleness that comes with Virgo-Capricorn. Namjoon can often comes across as the exact opposite of subtle when it’s about self-expression: he tends to talk very loudly as a way of externalizing himself (see above). 

But when it comes to the-- sentimental things that matters to him, like to people/his family for instance. He demonstrates his love in an almost secretive way.

This isn’t just from Scorpio Venus (intimacy) it’s about dedication and timelessness. He wants his affection to be noticed, but he’s not going to go about it in a very up-front/pure-emotion kind of way. 

Imagine a Virgo Venus but even more reserved (in the beginning stages of being interested), because of the Capricorn decan. That’s him wanting to reach out to people, but sometimes comes across a block-solid wall in his own self-expression (Capricorn-Virgo).

A huge part of the sun is their relation to others and how they express themselves. Y know since Leo-- a sign ruled by the Sun, talks about externalizing itself/self- expression. It doesn’t make sense if we don’t touch on it from other sign’s experience as well.  

Virgo-Capricorn can have a stiffness with demonstration, when viewed from another person’s perspective. 

Namjoon is definitely not all soft and gushy, in fact if there’s talks about emotions that he’s not prepared for he’s going to distance himself away/make fun of it (Sag-Virgo/Cap- err on the side of caution sometimes/flighty despite being foolhardy on other things they’re ‘prepared’ for.) 

It’s also part of that Virgo-Capricorn pride, whether subconsciously or not, there’s an unwillingness to be seen as weak that does tend to get the best of him sometimes. (Most commonly seen in pre-debut Namjoon: hip hop versus idol persona)

Especially since Capricorn decan hardens him to cruise through rough waves, when it comes to confronting the soft-sanded beaches he can feel like it’s hard to step onto/sinking into his feet that lacks the sturdiness/stability he’s used to.  

Besides the need to have his own space/be alone in order to live with others for a long-period of time (he mentions how he’s seen/lived with the members for a long time, not like Yoongi who brings up the fact every 5 seconds but with Namjoon it’s mostly said in a joking manner/casual co-habitation) 

Namjoon’s Virgo emphasized by this Capricorn decan also makes him very giving to those around him. He’s very conscious of what he puts out, Virgo’s ‘serving’/ ‘helpful’ nature is encouraged by Capricorn’s sincerity/cardinal nature.

He often finds himself much more conscious of himself than of others, wants/desire to take others by their words/face value when he knows he can trust them. This limits his social circle quite a bit because he’s selective of the people he puts trusts in. 

It’s partially a consequence of his withdrawn trait (lack of action, conserving strength in order to pursue other stuff), but also a conscious/natural suspicion of others around him.

In order to maximize Virgo’s giving nature, he wants to minimize the amount of people/time he’s critical of other’s around him. 

To do that, he can find himself lacking motivation to pursue personal relationships that he’s initially unsteady about, or cutting people out decisively if they’re bad for him. Besides being able to hold a grudge (Cancer Mars) he’s also very persistent/demanding in his social relationship as well (Scorpio Venus - see later)

This Virgo-Capricorn since it influences his Mercury (Virgo Sun expressing itself/pride through Mercury - ruler) his sense of humor can come across as sort of dry and sarcastic. 

A consequence of that Capricorn decan wanting to express it’s humour, which coincidentally tends to be just in Seokjin’s line of taste(Capricorn Venus) and Taehyung makes him feel like this side of him is understood/acceptable (Capricorn Mercury). 

Since it can be kind of -- peculiar (combined with Virgo, the way it’s expressed is kind of quirky/peculiar without him having certain control over it sometimes)

Asking for help is also a problem he might face, it’s part to do with that withdrawn nature but also just the general stiffness/pridefulness he has. 

Capricorn decan here is stopping him from reaching out to people, because it’s so used to being the disciplinarian. The lesson it has to learn is to become the student. Something JK can help him with/he can learn from. 

The lesson it has to learn is to not stop the Virgo from reaching out to people. The sun (for him) is largely dependent on that initial ‘fighting to find himself’ stage, so any ego/stagnancy in his part is a hinderance to himself. 

The Capricorn-Virgo can have some ideas about serving others through disciplinarian/authority in itself (sense of self/ego) -- built up ego of knowing who he is without questioning himself becomes an unwilling to break himself to grow more, to listen to others and to learn. 

Having mutable/cardinal signs in your chart is only useful if you acknowledge it, and help it’s nature instead of ‘fixing’ it (get it? cause ‘fixed’ signs...) 

If it’s held on for too long, it becomes a problem/inner tension he needs to fix. So by only acknowledging, surrendering and growing from it’s natural waves, could he continue to use his Sun in his growth.     

Aspects

Sun (Virgo) - Square - Moon (Sagittarius)

This emphasized the self-critical nature Namjoon has to himself, but more on the ‘talking to himself/self-confusion and questioning himself’ part. 

There’s an emphasis here on trying to reason, analyze and understand where his emotions/instant actions are coming from. 

You can see when he’s embarrassed or ‘regretting his life choices’ that it’s mostly his reserved Sun being conscientious of his Moon’s instantaneous reaction. (also supported by Moon-Mars aspect below: feels like he lose control/act without thinking often, his Sun deals with being conscious of it/feeling embarrassed afterwards)

A lot of the time this spurs his own confusion even more, he wants to understand himself but he feels he lacks balance. Lacks stability and order that he craves. 

Because the Sun here is picking up on the smallest, tiniest details of his action/thoughts/subconscious mind that his Moon has (is in charge of). 

While his Moon is overlooking all the things the Sun pays attention to. It’s focused on the bigger picture, the bigger aspects, the concepts and ideas and the ever moving motion of things. 

His Sun is the consciousness part of him that’s digging it’s heels in trying to be like ‘wait wait let’s figure this out, let me figure this out’.  While the Moon is going ‘lets go, I know what’s best for us! It’s the ever-moving process of fighting/on-going nature that’s going to grow us better! let’s go!’ (getting the gist/motion of what the Sun is about and running with it)  

Despite Virgo and Sagittarius being mutable signs they’re constantly in motion different from each other (Mercury isn’t going at the same pace as Jupiter y know, size wise and speed wise)

Being of a different element, the contrast between them is even more prominent as well. 

It’s not like they’re not orbiting in each other’s presence, in fact if you want to think about it visually. It’s like peering into a store window (in a shopping mall) and seeing your aunt make a scene inside (Sag Moon). It’s precisely because they’re aspected that means they’re aware of what each other’s doing. 

The problem this might pose for Namjoon is heightened confusion and indecision. They’re both mutable signs of different element and polarity, there’s always that push-pull dynamic inside of himself. 

It also heightens his suspicion and critical consciousness, like, he’s always aware of the opposite side of the argument. 

When talking to someone, he’s always disclaiming himself not to be misunderstood because he doesn’t understand himself sometimes (self-confusion/figuring himself out). 

He might find himself fool-proofing that/projecting the same kind of suspicion onto other people as well.  

Sun (Virgo) - Sextile - Mars (Cancer)

Oof we love a powerful man! 💕

Sun backed up by Mars here gives a strength to pursue the things he wants to pursue (through activitiy). 

The innate qualities of Virgo such as it’s attention to details, critical nature, organizational qualities is expressed outwards through his actions/work. 

It also plays a little bit into how he comes across, people respect Namjoon because he has this sense of understanding to him.

 A sympathetic and observational nature that is expressed through his Virgo Sun - Cancer Mars aspect.

He’s able to connect to others (Cancer) and serve them (Virgo) on a deeper level than just the physical/emotional (Sun-Mars). 

He’s pragmatic (Virgo) and sturdy (Cancer), a perfect leader quality!

Minor details: it also plays into having a healthier masculinity, Cancer and Virgo are both feminine signs that builds and strengthen his masculinity, if they’re being used honestly and truthfully in Namjoon’s life.

That means he accepts them and nourish them, grow them in order to build/strengthen this Sun-Mars aspect of his. 

When he has more more practice sustaining his masculinity through Cancer and Virgo, he has a balance of both masculinity and femininity that he demonstrates and that -- pleases himself (his Libra particularly) and others greatly (because they sense this balance-ness to him and flock to him).

Anyways his Sun (ego/sense of self/esteem) is expressed through his action/work/physicality (externalized outwards through Mars outlet, which is always great!)

Sun (Virgo) - Trine - Uranus (Capricorn)

This is Namjoon fighting for the underdog, being the underdog and trying to change the system. (From pre-debut till now -> onwards as well)

He has perfect understanding between his head/sense of self (Sun) and his social consciousness (Uranus) -- of what he wants to do, and what he has to do as well (wanting to do things - tangibility, earth signs)

It’s also creating a voice for others in the world, Virgo here is serving the world by making part of it’s purpose a tangible creation/effort. 

Uranus is generous and often selfless, while Virgo’s sympathetic dedicated nature serves his inner purpose. 

He often reflects about himself (Sun) in relation to the world (Uranus), connecting himself to the creation of the universe and all things around/in it.  

His creation and effort, no matter how long it takes he wants to make an effort to create a safe space (Virgo-Capricorn- externalization, external organization/project, effort, structure) for others. 

Sun (Virgo) - Trine - Neptune (Capricorn)

A part of his inspiration and nature is just--- bringing the ideal into reality. 

It’s that Neptune subconsciousness combined with his internal sense of self (Sun). 

He’s able to create and mold pieces of work that’s delicate and detail-oriented, crafted because of this Virgo Sun channelling the steady, sturdiness of Capricorn Neptune.

A lot of the time his thoughts and ideals are related to reality. Concepts of love, nature around him, the universe, people, theories and ideals. 

Neptune mod. ruler in Pisces, there’s a lot of empathetic nature that’s highlighted in his Virgo Sun. And if we’re talking about Pisces other qualities (trad. Jupiter rulership) the ‘serving’ nature here is emphasized just as much as well. 

Namjoon’s a very giving person, but the part that gives him hindrance is usually the friction having an earth-earth combination brings. Like he has the ‘in touch intuition’ but sometimes Capricorn makes it harder to manifest smoothly. Since it’s ground-ground influence, it feels like dragging your feet across the floor sometimes.    

Sagittarius Moon | 2nd Decan (Mars/Aries) 

I think we all know Sag moon’s need for activity. 

It’s like, photosynthesis with them. They’ve reached that stage in the maturity/growth (as the oldest fire sign/one of the oldest sign in the zodiac) to be able to digest nourishment through their intellectualism+ fuel their inner sense of self that way.

 They still need stimuli for sure, but that stimuli can be from people/culture/seemingly nothing/external environment/concepts. 

It’s expansive this way. That’s the top-tier fire sign level. Expansion in what they can digest/photosynthesize.  

(Sagittarius) They’re more of the type to get up and go, take in the natural sunlight/environment and create their own self-fulfillment from there. Again, this is where their independency/needing personal space comes from as well.

There’s still the distinguishable ‘me’ attitude that fire-sign has. Unlike the Aries Moon who’s ‘me’ attitude comes from tugging/pulling others to become motivated (link up to their energy- Mars), 

Or the Leo Moon who’s ‘me’ attitude comes from acknowledging/parrying other’s response to them/persuading them to self-express their inner self (Sun)

The Sagittarius Moon’s ‘me’ attitude comes in the intellectual kind/mentally stimulating kind (Jupiter). 

Open-mindedness, intellectual resourcefulness, teaching sharing and creating a direction to go towards together is important to them.

They’re also generous and absolutely opinionated. 

He would not back down from helping another, Sagittarius Moon actively encourages/expand on other member’s positive qualities. Jupiter shines a light on other’s strength. 

He always tries his best to make the public endeared by those he adores, generally through demonstrating his own personal affection for them. 

Kind of like a little kid who’s introducing his friend to his parents, absolutely adore his friends, want his parent’s approval of them too.

Anyways, this can sometimes come with the price of emphasizing his clumsiness/contrasting personality to bring this light forward. 

Jupiter always has this sense of depending on others, or depending on each other (collaborative - social planet). Better halves. 

As much as individuality is focused in Sagittarius/Jupiter, emphasizing their difference (how they make each other better) their own individuality gets to shine better this way. 

When it seems like their difference is building (learn/grow) on each other’s strength/weaknesses, the end result seems to be a win-win situation for both of them. (Optimistic/positive - generous and sharing)

Namjoon’s generosity is absolutely understated, but it’s a huge part of having a Sagittarius Moon. His emotion is tied to how he can help others, grow from others and (with his Sun) sometimes even serve a purpose together as well. 

As part of a social planet (Jupiter) it’s about collaborating and contributing (individually) to a bigger purpose. Maybe not like Aquarius/ Uranus, but it definitely brings a brighter light/emphasis to his sense of self/purpose. (It’s shining light on the better part of things, people, themselves, others -- it might not be prominent but it’s underlying in all his actions/subconscious thoughts somehow) 

As part of his Moon, he identifies himself with a ‘purpose’ (Sun-Moon aspect, even if the relationship is square- it’s still aspected)

Virgo might be his vulnerable side, underneath Sagittarius’s outward optimism and enthusiasm. A harder, fiery outer core to his inner personality.

It’s all a part of him really, but he protects himself better with this Moon.  If he moves fast enough, hard enough with this Sagittarius then the damage his Virgo take is lessened. 

There’s a common goal between Virgo and Sagittarius, helping others around them helps themselves. In a sense, they want to help people find their own footing + through their success stories, they often feel inspired/proud to find their own successes as well. See that it’s possible, that is a practical dream. And they want to achieve that. 

Virgo finds serving others self-serving to their values/purpose, while Sagittarius finds helping others serving to fuel themselves, teach/grow into their own person.  

With Sagittarius being in his Moon Namjoon’s purpose/pride has to do with self-discovery. 

Growing and learning, adapting and changing in order to teach/grow into his own person. 

He already knows who he is, to an extent. Sagittarius Moon tends to have this identifying thing where they know best/what’s good for them intuitively (fire-sign tends to think they do). Even though they can’t actually answer a straight question (about who they are really), they can demonstrate it outwardly through consistency and demonstration/action.

They realize they have a pattern, like a routine or specific behaviour they do. And that’s their most identifying trait- the pure unadulterated joy they have for certain things. Their natural buoyancy. (Sagittarius Moon - that’s his identity)

In a way it’s his openness and sincerity. He can’t hide his Sagittarius Moon’s happiness. It helps since his Virgo-Capricorn can be intimidating a lot of the time. 

When he’s happy, he lights up. The eyebrow raise, the eyes crinkling, the joy and openness to his expression-- that’s part of the Sagittarius Moon. He can’t hide that. 

The way he bops his head along to a song, the way he bounces when he’s excited. That’s the most unadulterated version of his Sagittarius Moon behaviour. That’s what he identifies with, and what he pushes forward. (Inner core- outer crust, Sun-Moon. But also self-identity with the Moon.) 

He’s heavy-handed with helping others, even sometimes to the extent of acting brashly/naively. He’s enthusiastic about it, optimistic to be able to participate and see others grow. 

He wants to see others be better versions of themselves, because he himself wants to see it reflected in his own transition as well.

You know, it’s sort of a mirror thing. Like, if he can spread this kind of enthusiasm and open-minded idea. This feeling he has inside of himself, to others around him (by teaching them the same kind of courtesy/respect) -- then he himself can achieve it too. (benevolent but also ‘me’ attitude)

Manifesting, watering, putting in work to help others. He can see that it’s working for them, and that in turns motivate/inspires him (fire sign stimuli) to achieve his own success as well.  

He’s enlightened, positive and absolutely supportive of those close to him. 

Joonie thrives and live off of this placement, his emotions are key to his sensitivity and his connection to the outside world.

Know how he can sometimes appear to exhibit childish trait or aegyo-like behaviours (without meaning to - instantaneous behaviour) That’s when a Sagittarius feels most comfortable developing into themselves. 

Especially in a Moon placement where the lighter trait of Sags are exaggerated. Unlike Jin’s Sagittarius Sun, Namjoon’s Sagittarius Moon is like a child version of Jin that lends itself to being absolutely adored and loved (endearing, Jin is as well but Joon can’t control it).

Sagittarius Moon: Developing and Growing

In Sagittarius there’s an innate knowledge within themselves that- if they can afford to work hard in maturing one self. Doing the things they deem ‘necessary’: they can also afford to find happiness/gentle nature in just living innocently and purely, within the world by being themselves when the time calls as well. (Sagittarius living in nature, appreciating travels and exploring/expanding themselves) 

Namjoon’s ability to see through his own past/bullshit can be hard to come by (redeeming himself when he makes mistakes) but I’m inexplicably proud of him when he overcame those challenges and connects his inner purpose this way.

Sagittarius, when they’re at their best, are comfortable in the position where they aren’t stuck in the past/the future of their actions. They’re comfortable knowing that there’s more to life than who they are now. 

Once the presence starts to be filled with regrets for past actions (’why did i do that today’) they want to move on/forget about the situation. This isn’t really good for the Sagittarius, because it’s lending itself to ‘running away’ from the situation/being flakey to themselves. 

Consistency, at least to themselves is what the Sagittarius native has to learn. They can’t just run away from their problems or rely on their future changes to not feel guilty/embarrassed/regretful about their past. 

Confrontation isn’t their strong suit (especially if it’s personal) but in order to build something out of themselves/end a chapter in their life properly (as a mutable sign) they have to become sturdier. 

Think of it as progression from 9th house to 10th house. What does the Sagittarius have to learn, in order to progress into Capricorn? It’s the final resolution, the confrontation within themselves. It’s using that sincerity/honestly they give outwards to other people all the time, to be fair/just to themselves inside as well. 

It does have to do with justice, Sagittarius Moon gets really riled up by injustice in their environment/towards others. But when it comes to evaluating what they’re putting themselves down for, they tend to gloss over it/make it into an exasperated joke. 

Sagittarius uses humor to deal with a lot of things, and learning how to be just/fair to themselves is such a crucial thing for Sags.  

That’s why self-love is such a large lesson/concept for Namjoon (to learn), it ties down to his inner core as well. The Sagittarius Moon here has to learn to accept/grow into loving itself, slowing itself down, to be reaching out to his other placement (compromising), be open-minded to himself-- to actually be fair to himself as well.  

A lot of the time Namjoon can be too hard on himself and doubtful of his own worth. 

While Sagittarius protects his ego (sun) by overplaying the optimistic, generous demeanor. Self-love, self-care, fairness to himself/his evaluation of himself-- the sincerity/honesty he shows to others should be spread inside to himself as well. 

Balanced inside and outside. Because just like this, the Sagittarius is just subvert all the time (to others). It needs to be balanced, because if it shifts from subversion to inversion: he becomes selfish, high-strung on his opinion, unable to give anyone a chance because it compromises his chances. 

Learning how to compromise, deal with the problem, confront and acknowledge the problem itself is a lesson Sagittarius has to adapt to. 

Scenario: to make up for the Sun being so critical/self-analytical, the Sagittarius Moon here talks loudly to distract from the actual problem. It’s trying to make the atmosphere better, but it’s a short term solution. 

The opposite can also happen when it’s tilted (inversion/subversion) Sagittarius Moon become strongly defensive and absolutely maniacal of it’s own opinion/thoughts. Sullen, isolationist and selfish. 

Even though he can swing between being generous and being selfish, the lesson lies in being both at the same time-- towards himself and towards others. 

He can’t deal with this duality in separate sections, the bad comes with the goods. He can’t keep them separated because it causes fissure. And this just makes the tilting even harder for him to bear. Makes it more confusing and creates more problems for himself.

See its-- being a bigger person. It’s not a child anymore (the younger sign) it’s about combining all his parts together to start maturing. It’s at the edge/the crust of jumping into the MC. 

The separation thing can’t last. That’s the lesson Scorpio already taught through it’s transformation. Sagittarius here has to gather up it’s lessons, evolution as a person and mold it together. To create the grounded stable Capricorn for the next progression y know.  

Learning/growing, or teaching himself how to accept his maniacal side and his generous side in equal part (to himself and to others at the same time). 

How to be both at the same time (demonstration), reaches a stage of completion that Sagittarius has to learn how to do. That’s one of the ways Sagittarius Moon can progress into managing themselves better. 

Sagittarius Moon: Libra Mercury (On the Same Side)

I touched a little on Namjoon’s response to with the TaeJin fight in Burn The Stage:  since Sagittarius is Namjoon’s emotional response, sometimes when they’re faced with other people’s conflict they can tend to whine and complain a lot.

They offer practical solutions, but in their flair of exaggeration and dramatics, it tends to come across as them complaining- whilst trying to philosophize about life to the recipients. 

They are however, very active and willing to communicate. There’s a part of them that feels trusted/chosen as mediator between fights since Sagittarius has an innate need for justice and combined with Libra Mercury, they need to get to the bottom of things. 

Whilst Libra does it more for the purpose of connecting to others, creating external balance and serving justice/attention to details, Sagittarius’s tends to come from a place that’s more about learning from others and objectifying the fight for a bigger purpose (which makes them seem preachy sometimes) 

They want to evaluate all kind of solution and expand their mind, they can tend to be abit more judgmental but never in a mean way. 

Sometimes people get really fed up with their style of mediation because while Libra actually focuses on the person/situation at hand, Sagittarius and Aquarius are already trying to hypothesize the solution to the fight for ‘future references’ sometimes. 

It’s more to do with Libra/Venus talking about direct social relations, while Sagittarius-Aquarius/Jupiter-Uranus talks about the bigger purpose/social groups in life. 

They’re more of the complain-y, head-strong in their opinion kind of mediator. Although they try to be open-minded, they have a hard time coming out of their introspection/relating to other people with different circumstances than they do.

He’s saved by that Libra Mercury, but we all know Namjoon uses his Sagittarius Moon to make a lot of his decisions even if it’s ill-advised sometimes. (See Libra Section for more on Libra - Sag relationship)

The part we respect about Namjoon is when he uses his other placement: his Libra Mercury, his Scorpio Venus and even his Cancer Mars. 

The part we’re endeared by Namjoon: is his Sagittarius Moon. 

Sagittarius as a fire sign (especially in his moon) constantly agitate the other placement by rushing out the door and screaming ‘can’t be tamed’. So when the other placement actually get their hands around Sagittarius Moon, it serves him better because he’s not letting the Wild Child run loose all the time.   

Has a need for a public response, you can see it in the way he turns to look and talks to the camera crew often during the behind the scene of run ep. 54 (linked to vlive channel+)  as well as expressing himself often through yelling, flailing of limbs and dramatic responses.

Sagittarius Moon: Virgo Sun - Bickering (+ Libra Mercury)

There’s also the innate need for Sagittarius here to have some personal space and freedom from the team, and individuality that stands out from others. 

It’s similar to the Capricorn with-drawing itself in the Virgo Sun, but with a Sagittarius it’s even more prominent because his mood is directly affected by it (Moon). He can easily get agitated/frustrated when his ‘alone time’ or ‘off-duty’ time is disrupted. 

His concentration breaks fairly easily, Sagittarius as a mutable sign tends to be focused/driven for certain period of time before needing a distraction (to ‘freshen up’/’restart’)

It also emphasizes his sense of humour, or his need for having sense of humour in his life. A part of why he gets along so well with Jin (and Jungkook) is their ability to provide an environment/crack jokes that he can build on. 

Mutability in this sense, is feel comfortable enough to add onto the situation or mold himself to what’s established (’time for cracking jokes’) It makes him happier, and a lot more easy-going. 

His moods can shift depending on his company, but more importantly what certain people impresses on him. With people who he categorizes as ‘serious business’ type of deal, he can be really awkward trying to shift them into ‘joking ok??’ type of people. 

Sagittarius aren’t all that adaptable when combined with Virgo Sun, in fact Sagittarius in the Moon position tends to have a harder time adapting to others than they are to themselves (ability to bounce away from regretful past choices/action, that’s adapting to themselves)

While he is indeed very generous and opened to listen to others. Sagittarius Moon requires consistency from others because that’s part of the ‘impression’ they make/categorize others in. The mutability in this part, is for themselves. Their ability to bounce back from a bad interaction/protect themselves from others, not let others take advantage of their generosity/kindness.

If they categorize you as someone who’s not going to be kind to them, then they’ll react accordingly. In a way, this is Sagittarius protecting themselves, but they also need to balance themselves better as well.  

Let’s look at his overall placement: Part of why Namjoon is coping so well with the heavy Virgo-Capricorn Sun is because of this Sagittarius Moon. Despite it being in conflict (square) with his Sun, the Sagittarius here provides motion to drive forward/move on in his life and not be so stagnant in his past/mistakes/analyzing himself.

The problem with Sagittarius Moon arises when he over-relies on this motion/driving force, and not enough in developing it further past that. 

The being ‘stagnant in his past/mistakes/analyzing himself’ mostly has to do with being in public, Virgo’s mistakes oxidizes and becomes self-critical when it’s exposed to air/judgement of others around them. 

Sagittarius Moon is trying to make Virgo care less about the public, how it’s perceived/the tiny details that didn’t bother them until they’ve been introduced to society/the everyday others.

The idea is that they should all be allowed to be themselves, truly and freely. But Sagittarius doesn’t acknowledge Virgo’s strength (atleast communication wise/aspect) Virgo wants Sagittarius to acknowledge the good part about caring about the public-- putting in extra effort into caring for others. 

Virgo replied in the way Sagittarius communicate with them (that’s what is established in this dynamic.) Virgo points out Sagittarius’s flightiness, suggesting that the resolution to that is by ‘putting more consistency into it’. 

Here’s where the miscommunication starts, because the way Sagittarius communicate is very fire-sign like. It was aimed to cheer or encourage Virgo up. Fire them up, motivate them. See my example and do the same. But the way Virgo replies/says it back doesn’t work the same way. 

Virgo is an earth sign, it learns from observation and example. The way they communicate doesn’t focus on firing people up like Sagittarius does. It’s through dry effort, practical solution and being there for others (time/endurance demonstration, not immediate/impactful fire starter). 

It can be very dry, critical and seems to the fire sign Sagittarius like it’s just retaliating because it’s hurt. Sagittarius takes this as a stimuli cue (because fire signs reads atmosphere rather than people/words) and is hurt by the response. 

Basically, it’s a miscommunication thing (square aspect). Virgo and Sagittarius are hurt because the other only points to their mistakes (the biggest trait/flaw in each sign) doesn’t want to acknowledge the strength. So it’s an argument without compromising because their communication (aspect) is the issue here.  

So how does this all ties into Namjoon? 

Namjoon probably relies on his Sagittarius Moon alot. Mostly because its the part of him that is his subconscious. He relates to it, identifies with it. His Virgo Sun (Scorpio Venus/Cancer Mars) makes up a larger part of his conscious. But his subconscious is the part he truly self-identifies with, because it holds his emotions (which Cancer Mars/Scorpio Venus plays into as well)

He knows where his emotions come from, how he reacts, his anger, his joy, his motivation and thoughts/progression. The Sagittarius here is like a breath of fresh air to him, allowing him to fight-- sometimes wield it, like a sword towards the clinginess of Virgo (trying to make him focus/analyze himself) or Scorpio/Cancer (trying to cling him onto the past/dig deeper into things and drown in it).

He uses the fiery nature of Sagittarius like a weapon, clings onto it’s warmth because it probably gives him comfort and identity. Stability in his life. He identifies with the fiery nature of Sagittarius because he can understand where it’s from (his emotions/inner self). It’s himself, and he tries so very hard to accept it. 

It’s both his greatest strength but also the part he’s exasperated/confused about as well. He doesn’t understand that, not everything about the Sagittarius makes up his entirety/who he is. By loving/looking at the light of Sagittarius he forgets to look more into his conscious-- the Virgo/Scorpio/Cancer part of himself as well. 

It’s like plato’s allegory of the cave, he’s known of this Sagittarius all his life, the reliance in his Virgo/Scorpio/Cancer is distracting to him. 

It’s the inverse of the allegory, Namjoon distracted by the light Sagittarius brings, he can sometimes be very confused/forgot to acknowledge the shadows that supports the light (Virgo/Scorpio/Cancer) literally the more stable part of himself. 

Rather than Sagittarius being a part of himself (permanently), it’s more like a weapon/limb he can utilize to cut off parts of himself he’s frustrated about (Virgo/Scorpio/Cancer) 

Hence, it feeds into the self-confusion, because he probably holds this Sagittarius at a distance from everything else (Virgo/Scorpio/Cancer) y know?

The only thing this Moon aligns with is his Mercury (see below: Moon-Mercury aspect) 

Mercury, once it’s endorsed by the Sun, becomes strengthened. (see above: Virgo Sun - Mercurial influencing Libra Mercury)

And that wind (air - Libra) blows the flame of Sagittarius Moon even more. 

The Sun - Moon aspect (Square) here is the Sun going ‘wait no that’s not what you’re supposed to do with that power’ and the Moon who’s already gained strength from Mercury is going ‘sike! I have it now, see ya later suckers’ and doing it’s own thing.

 So really, when Namjoon’s going ‘why did you do that Namjoon’ it’s usually that kind of Virgo Sun consciousness.

Libra Mercury fueling his Sagittarius Moon and his Sagittarius Moon running it’s mouth/action without the permission from the rest of his  body/placements/consciousness.

Libra Mercury is literally enabling his Moon. While the collective consciousness of Namjoon is going ‘wait Namjoon why did you do that!’ 

Aspects

Moon (Sagittarius) - Sextile - Mercury (Libra)

The Power Couple, this aspect makes up a lot of Namjoon’s habit we tend to notice. From his shade-y sass, facial expression, his buoyancy to how absolutely adorable he is. 

Sagittarius expressiveness is emphasized through Mercury’s self-expression, making him very animated person when he talks. It’s externalized outward even more, but this time it’s groomed slightly by Libra. 

He manifest his better quality through the good light of Libra (social relation) and Sagittarius (open-mindedness/optimism/justice). 

An alignment between his mind and his emotion makes him very conscious of what’s in his Moon/what it produces, again this is great because it makes him very intune and emotionally expressive. At the same time, his self-confusion (Sun-Moon square) can make communication inside of himself harder to bear, in contrast to how he comes across outwardly (Moon-Mercury). 

The center point of this is the Moon -- so self-identity can come from his Moon instead of his Sun most of the time (his Sun has aspects to Uranus/Neptune and not his inner-planets)

It’s like you see yourself doing so well externally (communicating wise) but internally you’re confused at why you’re so bad at it (miscommunication) 

So there’s a little bit of -- frustration there that’s emphasized because this part (Moon-Mercury) is going so well for him. 

Anyways, more with the good stuff. Moon-Mercury aspect is great because he might not know what he’s saying all the time but he’s very enthusiastic about communicating/talking it out. 

Especially with Sagittarius-Libra, he likes sharing it with others and encouraging others to do the same. 

He’s sincere about himself and others, and although he can sometimes be moody/sullen/private (due to his moods) he always tries his best to be fair to others by acknowledging e his vices, imperfections, etc.

In a way,  he’s probably learning/growing/trying to develop his Sagittarius-Libra through this aspect.

He can gain so much from this combination, because Libra doesn’t let Sagittarius become too ‘rowdy’ while Sagittarius loosen Libra up a bit. 

There’s also genuine masculine energy from this combination, because of their polarity being masculine (Libra/Sagittarius). 

Air and fire works well together, Libra being a cardinal sign is slightly more laid back with Sagittarius around. Libra leads and grooms, takes action and shapes Sagittarius while Sagittarius finds the ‘muse’ or enthusiasm for different things. It’s like, sibling dynamic. 

But without their parents there’s always that instability/balance between them because Libra (as an air sign) can’t rely/depend on Sagittarius to come through during crisis time.  

So while Namjoon is great that shaping, adapting and leading discussion (instigating it) he’s also a bit-- loose and needs that stability/ground to stand on when things gets out of hand as well (which is where Yoongi, Hoseok, Jin, comes in.)

The way Namjoon deals with things is similar to Jimin, like if there’s a crisis they discuss/collaborate what to do together. Without earth (Yoongi’s virgo moon/Hoseok’s taurus moon) or the more forceful cardinal sign (Aries/Capricorn/Cancer) it’s like they can have a moment of panic and feeling lost (mutable) before acknowledging what to do y know.

There’s also the consequence of not being well-equipped to handle heavy emotional discussions. Unless it’s instigated by him or he’s prepared for it. The masculine energy between air-fire focuses on doing/activities, doesn’t have time to sink deeper like earth-water do. 

He is however, very observative and curious about others. 

As much as he talks, he’s willing to listen. 

He loves discussion because it fuels him (emotionally/mentally), he loves connection (Libra). 

People’s word, their body language, the little tic and traits in others he often picks up on. Especially with that Scorpio Venus, he can be very shrewd with people.  

Moon (Sagittarius) - Square - Saturn (Pisces) (R)

Trust is a big issue here, 

With Sagittarius-Pisces trad. ruler being Jupiter, the problem arise when he feels like there’s a lack of appreciation/respect for him from the world itself/everyone is turning their backs on him. 

See, as much as Sagittarius-Pisces positive traits are focused on adapting, generosity, expansiveness/transcendentalism, sharing/caring for others (sympathetic open-handedness) 

The problem is they feel like it’s not being given back to them. And they have to push to earn it back (Saturn). From an authority, a bigger public, a power beyond themselves/their sense of self. It’s daunting and challenging.  

Because he gives so much to others, he doesn’t want to be taken advantage of (Moon- fears). His emotion is going through trials, he doesn’t want to stop adapting/changing/shifting, but Saturn brings lessons he has to faces.

Most of the lesson has to do with perseverance, consistency, finding it within himself. 

There’s a fear of personal relationship, of commitment that he can’t keep up, that’s part of Sagittarius Moon’s deepest fear. 

Having this Saturn-Moon aspect brings it to the forefront.

Namjoon is well-aware of his fears, his lack of strength/vulnerabilities and weakness. He lives with it in this Moon-Saturn aspect. 

The light of the moon shines on the lessons Saturn bring, it’s like catching a glimpse of the grim reaper in the corner of your eyes every time you’re trying to enjoy itself. It’s lingering and with Pisces there, it’s reflective of his inner subconscious even more (12th house/Neptune)

It’s also fear of receiving the nurture/care he craves (Neptune) because there’s always suspicion there.

Sincerity, generosity, the same open-minded/open-handedness they crave they think it’s harder to come by because of Saturn’s influence/lesson plans/challenges. 

He doesn’t think he’s ‘enough’ and  is suspicious of being tricked. His rigidity to others (when people try to hug him or show him genuine affection, you can see it when the members compliment him ‘too much’ he gets really rigid) can even come across in his self-expression, but most prominently in his facial expressions (moon). 

Self-doubt is a prominent theme with this aspect, and you can see how it plays out so much in Namjoon’s life. 

His own self-worth, his easy acceptance of criticism that are completely unfounded hurled at him, his sympathetic and giving nature that isn’t extended towards himself (such a Pisces Saturn- Sag Moon thing)-- makes it harder to accept genuine love and support from others because of this Moon-Saturn aspect.

They’ve been conditioned since early childhood (Saturn doesn’t stop/start at a certain age) to expect negatives, challenges, difficulties. Even when looking forward to the future, they’re always trying to balance/counteract the negativity instead of inviting the positives. 

This is because Sag-Pisces wants the positive to come, but what they can do to help is ‘tackle’ the negatives. This method instead, manifests/invites the negative stuff even more to themselves. 

It’s like someone who has a negative aura around them and says negative thing isn’t going to invite positive things to them from others y know? It doesn’t work that way. So their self-projection/counteracting this negative problem isn’t going to help them in any way. 

The lesson Saturn is truly trying to give here, is the strength to overcome the negativity. To project positivity into their life. Because Sagittarius and Pisces both have so much potential/resource for it already. 

They’re literally two of the most positive signs in the entire zodiac. It doesn’t make sense that they would feel so defeated by what? big bad Saturn? No, the point of this lesson is to use their best trait, their positivity and power-- empower themselves with that. 

Stop being doormats. Saturn is illuminating them in the worst light (Sagittarius-Pisces as their worst) so to counteract that, they have to show their positive/best trait. Project it outwards. Actively stand up for themselves. Be able to face their fears, show vulnerabilities (Pisces-Sagittarius) be open to accepting love from others. 

To gain strength from themselves is to overcome Saturn. To be emotionally vulnerable and available to receiving other people’s love, that’s part of empower themselves. That’s what Saturn wants. 

Libra Mercury | 2nd Decan (Uranus/Aquarius)

It’s no wonder his Libra Mercury is working so well with his Sagittarius Moon. 

When it comes to emphasizing with others/understanding things from another’s perspective (air), his emotions (moon) and thoughts (mercury) collide- bringing  forward a genuine way of phrasing things. Because he can stand behind it. He understands it, he’s opened himself up to receiving it like a bowl being filled with water (emotions-thoughts) 

The earlier Moon-Mercury aspect really is serving him well here. That can’t be understated, it’s probably one of his most powerful/well-used aspect as well. 

With Libra Mercury, their verbal expression (externalized) is relating to things. An ability to express thoughts/opinions outwardly that’s definitely going to make people feel like they’re being represented/respected sincerely by him.  

Self-expression geared towards understanding the person. Libra as a Venus ruled planet, focuses on social relationships. One on one relationship+conversations, as well as how others come across socially/publicly. What we relate to and what we try to stay away from. 

Libras are critical of these tiny details, they’re able to pick up on it at an almost intuitive level. Because their brains here are geared towards taking cues from these direct/atmospheric quality all the time. 

It definitely feeds into his observative nature, but more than anything it’s not overused. It’s a tool to help him navigate the social circle/crowd, and over-abundance of Libra can compromise a lot of his other placements that definitely wouldn’t benefit him in any way. 

Indecision comes from whether he’s going to choose to appease the person or appease the crowd. Who the audience is, who’s being mediated for. 

There’s a purpose to Libra, kind of like an identity/angular house. There has to be a recipient to a relationship, and who is he giving this information to has to be there for him to perform properly.

Moments when Libra doesn’t have this recipient/audience is when Namjoon probably uses his Scorpio/Sagittarius the most. When the audience is directed/aimed at us, it slips into this Libra Mercury. 

Making it seem smoother and more complacent than the actual issue being addressed. The style in which he does thing, is directed by Libra.  

When Libra is in the sign of Mercury, they are analyzing the person and what is being said. They can find themselves making direct contact with the person in question (source) and listening to them, or mediating naturally (with their consent or without) between two people. Libra Mercury need this contact (from source) in order to pull their own analysis into context. 

(Namjoon being observative of the person - Virgo Sun, as well as his natural enthusiasm for learning - Sagittarius Moon, also brings a genuine focus/sincerity and genuinity to this Libra part as well)

Part of Libra Mercury’s argument is based around direct quote + atmospheric context. That’s how they come across as such good mediator or diplomatic, because they know how to weave evidence and substantial frame of reference together. It’s not intuition, it’s analytical.  

They can find themselves quoting/repeating what the person said (paraphrase) and adding outer context to the information to explain it back to the person themselves. Things like, how other people are receiving it, social custom, conditions/connections. Social conditioning/frame of reference is their go-to sources of back-up information.

If it’s not something they have knowledge about prior/unsure about, they rely on feelings instead. (Jimin’s prominent Libra Sun/Mercury as clue to his focus/Libra nature)

Feelings are sure-fire way to relate to others. Because you can’t deny emotions, it’s purely subjective and personal to everyone. It’s something that we all share, yet at the same time we can’t disprove or deny. (Subjective to the person, but also objective as a concept?)

So if they explain it as an additional context (relate/put themselves in another’s shoes) -- it’s a very direct way or relaying it back to the person they’re giving advice to.  

Libra mercury is an air-sign, so heavy handed emotional talks/intimacy earth/water sign might want can be hard for them to relate to/understand. (Also ties/made difficult by Namjoon’s Virgo-Capricorn Sun- if it’s somehow working with each other/influencing each other - unaspected but if it ties in together/back each other, maybe?)

Their way of consoling someone mostly consists of giving practical advice, or relying on these ‘back up resources of information’ (substantial things) instead. 

They can seem kind of invested in the rectifying of mistakes, or being truthful/honest in order to solve the problem. Rather than the person themselves or what they’re asking for (emotional concern, a pat on the shoulder, some kind of sensitivity)

This is just how Libra is as a Mercurial sign. It’s prevalent in their other placements as well (even in Venus) so while they do think emotion is a great source to rely on/back up from-- their connectivity to it can be limited to how useful it is. 

And a surface-level understanding of it’s importance (personally/socially) instead of actually relying/living in it (like water-signs do).  

Libra Mercury: Nature/Development -> Progression

Libra as a cardinal sign sees shifting opinions/ideas as part of the process, to reach the true conclusion rather than an indecision on their part. 

When Namjoon thinks about things, it’s rarely a conclusive thought. He’s always on-going in the process of shifting/adapting, the thoughts he has are his identity at the moment, but he is always searching/growing for more. 

Cardinal energy of a Libra is through that directness and truthfulness they have to themselves, they don’t actively think of themselves as Venus-signs. They aren’t afraid to play devil’s advocate or even just be contrary to prove the point they’re trying to make (without rocking the boat too much, within controllable bounds/conditions).

In fact the whole point is that true balance/harmony can’t be achieved, unless they instigate it/demonstrate it through their actions (throwing chaos into the mix sometimes).

Libra is a cardinal sign because of this fearlessness. They aren’t afraid of the consequences/danger of the process, because they know that the end goal is to be harmonious/peaceful (before it crashes into chaos again). This wave that keeps going, this shift/adaptation is part of why they’re the air-sign of the cardinal/angular house. 

They aren’t afraid and they emphasize/light up the positive (harmonious) despite engaging in the chaotic part of the cycle as well. It’s why Libra comes before Scorpio, because this little wave-cycle they have going on is simplified. Scorpio brings an entirely different type of transformation to Libra, an overwhelming one that they can’t control. And to Libra, loosing that faith/balance and stability (their reliance on their back up resources) is terrifying. Their little doll house; the suburban neighborhood with the minor little details/conflicts (chaos) they can control is falling apart. (that idle-ness they rely on)

This is world-changing/life changing personally. It’s the horizon (DSC/7th) finally coming into the sunlight/daytime. The shift from personal to social that Libra is starting to sink it’s feet into makes them grow, adapt, lose control. That instability in their life is what draws Libra into turmoil.

So yeah, Libra (in any placement) does rely a lot on the stability that they have. Doesn’t need to be material like the earth signs, or internal like the water-signs. They don’t like to be thrown off balance, or lose control (censored in their thought/speech) because they like to be in control of the situation. This is prevalent in both Namjoon and Jimin, not just because of this Mercury Libra they share together. (With Namjoon it’s also part of his Virgo/Capricorn pride/ego.)

They’re not angels like, they don’t actively consider themselves to be pure beings. They understand that balance/cycle and they live with it. The in-control aspect has a lot to do with ‘rocking the boat’ Libras are said to hate. It’s less about, playing devil’s advocate or something and more about doing things within bounds they can control. Even if it looks different to others. ( ‘woah this person is really said this x this x this’ versus ‘this person is indecisive/hasn’t made up their mind yet’ )

Going back to the point where they’re analytical of things that has to do with atmospheric quality, sometimes they’re so cunning and they use this to test others. They can sometimes play devil advocate occasionally, they know when to listen and when to talk, but sometimes they would talk for the purpose of getting the other person to participate in the conversation -- even just to tell them to shut up. That shrewd/observative nature to more than just what’s being said is absolutely ingenious (and indicative of Libra’s tactfulness) 

Libra is a good mercurial sign to be in mostly because it’s in between the naturally chatty/good natured Gemini (which rules Mercury so-- air signs have it good) and the fixed, heavy-hitting Aquarius.

 They know how to engage, push a little, but also how to let things go. That’s how they compromise, making a point (usually by pushing justice/fairness as the main topic onto others) before letting things go. 

Aquarius is said to be exalted in Mercury, Libra utilize the best of that ‘pushiness’ Aquarius Mercury has-- just enough, to make it’s point and then let go like a Gemini Mercury’s explosion/drop and go. They’re truly the middle child of the air-sign, and they really do fit in with their family (elemental signs) this way (sly, opportunistic and sometimes even sneaky).  

A part of Libra Mercury might be loosing track of/knowing their own mind/process (as much as they can connect/bring others together.) With themselves, they’re kind of lost on how they process things if it’s not in the now. They’re not retrospective/self-reflective because they’re constantly in the ‘now’ part of a lot of things.(Air)

A lot of their understanding of their own thought/minds comes from feedback/responses from others instead. This is the ‘support’ or ‘stimuli’ Libra takes, because unlike Gemini-Aquarius who focuses on object-to-object Libra focuses on person-to-person. The need for stimuli in another person is more prominent this way. 

Other people’s feed back serves as ‘stimuli’ -- it’s not like they’re taking the person’s word personally/directly because they like to weigh their options (indecision from other people’s perspective), but they’re always optimistically curious about what other people has to say/observe about them.

They keep themselves open this way, sometimes even coming off as unassuming/naive to their own thoughtful nature/tact in diplomacy because it creates a ‘bowl’ for other people’s opinions (’water’) to fill. 

This support/stimuli is crucial to them, as they gather response/support they feel fueled by it. (Most prominently is Jimin’s love for compliments/acknowledgement, Namjoon has a harder time accepting compliments/care that way because of his Moon-Saturn but also Mercury-Mars below)

From other people’s perspective this can come across as needing reassurance/validation, Jimin asks for it directly (Scorpio Venus/Gemini Moon). With Namjoon it’s in nervousness/anxiety that comes with it (Sag Moon on top - Virgo Sun/Cancer Mars). He fiddles or fills the air (distract) when he’s nervous/anxious about things.

Libra Mercury: Perfectionist 

Oh yeah and definitely within their own mind, there’s a perfectionist streak. It’s the attention to detail they pay outwardly to others (as explained above) they pick up inside of themselves as well-- with it being part of their mind, they tend to put themselves up to that standard even if it’s completely ideal/bonkers -- if they aim for it then it’ll become possible someday right? (Cardinal).

Comparison and criticizing themselves because the ideal is far from what their mind/themselves is capable of doing right now, they’re quite harsh to themselves because they always aim to pay attention to/care about the little details (atmospheric quality + what is being put out directly from their brain)

They’re their own biggest critic, and because it’s their thoughts/mind there’s no shutting that voice up. (Mercury)

While others might think they’re too harsh on themselves, the conflict inside the Libra Mercury is that they know they’re not being fair to themselves. Thats the whole entire problem, they know it but they can’t stop it. 

Because the way they go about doing things -- externalizing/expressing themselves has always been based around this constant evaluation, this critical analysis, this weighing and paying attention to the details and people.  

Once they pay attention to the people part it becomes a problem of holding themselves to a standard others wants to see from them (or what they think people want to see from them). They gain so much from people, as stimuli and as a purpose (to solve, mediate, to help) they need to give back. 

They need to push themselves harder, truly balance all the good they’ve received by giving others the best side of them at all times. And if they can’t do that-- then they’re not doing good enough right? 

It’s like, as much as they preach/give advice about apologizing to others and compromising, ending conflict through good resolution, giving practical advice to the end/conclusion of a fight: “if you did bad and you can see that you did bad then you have to apologize” -- that’s their go-to advice on how to end a fight/conflict. 

And yet to themselves, not being able to reach that standard/give back to other is the same as not apologizing, they see it as them doing bad. 

In this context, the answer to their problem is simple: reach that standard and you’ll be ‘apologizing’ (ending the conflict.)

If you can’t do that, then you haven’t repent fully yet, you’re still ‘bad’ because the other side haven’t heard your ‘apology’. It’s about that communication from themselves outward that’s the problem. That’s really coming into the mix here.

This is more prevalent in Jimin (directly) than Namjoon, just through broadcast alone. But thought process wise-- there’s a lot going on inside of Namjoon emotionally (from the moon) and personally (from the Sun) that he’s faced this type of opposition before (that saturn-aspect and Capricorn/Aquarius influence - trad. ruled by Saturn as well). 

He’s coping better with it because it’s never been an easy-part of himself to deal with. And he’s had faced this kind of opposition all his life already. He probably knows better than to just, rely on that voice inside his head alone. Which is why it’s kind of pushing him to use that Sagittarius Moon more as well (I guess it’s better than the two evil maybe).

Aspects

Mercury (Libra) - Square - Mars (Cancer)

Acts without thinking (Mars-Mercury) which can be a hit or miss without Namjoon. 

Usually it’s unintentional, playing into his clumsiness that Sagittarius Moon brings (focuses on the bigger things, impression rather than details, loses track of the smaller details/everyday life/now that his Mercury would’ve otherwise focused on)

He’s however, very enthusiastic and lively. Able to join/encourage harmonic quality to invite stability into his life (Libra-Cancer). 

This also plays into the dramatics/exaggeration his Sagittarius Moon already feels (and expresses) but with a Cancer Mars, his temperamental nature is put the fore-front as well, being unable to hide his facial expression/emotions when he’s frustrated or feeling restricted (that run episode where he’s accused of being the manito). 

A lot of energy put into throwing himself into work, particularly when he doesn’t want to over-think it (super analyze it like Mercury Libra wants to do) at the same time, when others have really great ideas he can go full-throttle on it even though the other is hesitance.

The Cardinal-Cardinal nature here pushes him forward in instigating stuff, not really into maintaining/seeing it to completion (in it’s ultimate form).

Scorpio Venus | 1st Decan (Mars-Pluto/Scorpio)

The lip biting? This gif set? 

Scorpio Venus have this energy about them that comes alive through their charisma. 

This rawness is facilitated from a motion (transformation) but also a drive for action (Mars trad. ruler). 

When it’s in Venus -- they have an allure that just seems so contradictory yet magnetizing to be around. 

Part of that power/drive that fuels Namjoon’s voice/rapping comes from this Venus (self-expression). It’s how he styles himself, but also his performance as well.

Jimin who has the same Scorpio Venus, you can see the way he sings and the way he dances (self-expression) is tied into this as well. 

With Jimin his Libra (ruler Venus) is pulling the power/force of this Scorpio into his mercury (singing style) and his dancing (Mars) is fueled by this love for self-expression 

Scorpio Venus: loves for dance, Scorpio Mars: how he dances (but also low key: igniting that love for physical self-expression through dance as well - Scorpio Venus)

Namjoon’s powerful rapping style comes from this Venus as well, how he expresses himself. With the rap-line, you can see the influence Mercury-Mars-Venus has. Namjoon with his Scorpio Venus, Yoongi with his Aries Venus, and Hoseok with his Pisces Venus (refer to their mixtapes)

Arguably, Scorpio ‘Motion’ is less of a straight-line like Cardinal signs (Aries) but more of a spiral. It feels like walking up a spiraling staircase without any knowledge of what actually lies at the end. 

The reason it’s contradictory/’spiral’ is because Scorpio’s aggression (Mars) drive/will-power is being channelled through Venus, the planet of social relationship. 

When it comes to externalizing this drive/will-power Scorpio Venus are heavy-handed with how they come across, their aura and intensity is aggressive (maybe not always stylistically, but the energy input/focus is there)

Scorpio Venus has a ‘magnetic allure’ because of this energy input, they’re subconsciously putting it out there. To other around them it’s kind of like ‘feelers’ for the native, whether the other person knows it or not they’re always trying to seek that same ‘energy/intensity’ that others might provide. These invisible feelers (energy output) latch onto others when they ‘connect’ or are ‘noticed’ by them.

It’s kind of like tentacles? But like invisible tentacles made up of energy. If you don’t share the same wave lengths with them you won’t notice anything out of the ordinary. 

But the moment these feelers ‘feel’ you/notice you, people are struck by how magnetizing they are because they’re (the energy) is an extension of the native (Scorpio Venus)-- directly contacting another person.

So if you think of these invisible tentacle feelers as Namjoon seeking the same energy output another person (Scorpio Venus seeking the same intensity/energy) the moment they latch onto someone/something, it’s a personal/direct connection from the Scorpio Venus to another (tentacles because it’s an appendage, a part of their personal identity)

This line of connection then allow the native (Scorpio Venus) to dive deeper into the other person, completely uncovering them, measuring them, feeling them out energetically and fueling this ‘will-power/drive’ into someone/something. 

Scorpio Venus ‘obsession’ isn’t a ‘baseless obsession’ at all, but like a permission to connect to others at their energy level. It only becomes prominent when they ‘latch on’ and have a ‘connection’ to someone/something.

They can’t have an obsession with something without that prior connection before hand, it doesn’t make sense to the Scorpio native. Scorpio seeks the deeper meaning, that intensity and that inner focus/drive. The core power they have inside themselves, they want to understand/learn about it. 

That’s why they seek it out/want to see it reflected in another person, so they can build that connection to them and try to investigate/figure it out from there as well. 

That’s part of why these feelers are invisible in the first place, it’s to screen through others who might not share the same energy/doesn’t understand them. 

The core focus here is on the self, through others. Understanding themselves and their energy level by seeing reflected/measured against another person, and being able (given permission/relationship) to investigate through two individual instead of just themselves. (7th house -> 8th house, trying to balance between the two)

They’re utilizing this social relationship Venus brings, to understand themselves through others. Learning lessons/values that are important to them, as well as transforming themselves, discovering who they are along the way.

They know themselves best, and Scorpio Venus are extremely loyal and steadfast people. It’s not easy connecting to anyone energetically and being able to search/scrutinize the deeper part of another person’s psyche. 

To get to this point, they know the other person had to go through a lot (whether they realize it or not) they’ll always try to repay it back in devotion and loyalty. Utterly and totally to the other person because that’s what Scorpio values.

They’re even-handed and generous with what they give back to others, even though their motivation can seem kind of selfish at first. They have no qualms giving others precious things if they know it means a lot to them, an eye for an eye and a heart for a heart is the Scorpio’s motto. The price is paid in full, no debt afterwards. They don’t like having regrets later. 

Scorpio Venus: Developing/Transforming 

A part of how they are utterly devoted/loyal is because the driving force/will power is focused on being self-disciplining as well. 

When they focus on a certain goal that has to do with others (like benefiting others without themselves reaping the rewards) they’re utterly selfless. 

Scorpios who haven’t discovered this part of themselves yet can feel like they’re unstable/unbalanced-- seeking stability and needing to constantly ‘energy check’ with others in order to stabilize themselves out. 

It’s part of why they feel out of control of spiraling into a mess sometimes, because their motivation/goals can still be about the self/me. 

When they focus more on the ‘others/them’ they begin to settle into their relationships better. It’s the transformative stage that Scorpio goes through in order to get to Sagittarius. 

That independency and happiness in solitude, that self-serving photosynthesis Sagittarius has. 

But also the bigger trait of Sagittarius such as teaching others/generosity aspect as well. Getting out of their own head and moving towards giving to others is the end goal for them. 

A lot of the time, because Scorpio is fixed, the travel-time is longer/harder to push through. The meat of the lesson is in the succedent houses/fixed signs, to let go of things and moving through the transformation/growth is the longest part of the story.

It’s like if you were to build a narrative between the cardinal, fixed and mutable signs -- the Cardinal is the character introduction, setting the scene, the beginning and it touches on the conflict a little. 

The Fixed is the progression of the story, how the plot progresses. Weaving the trouble into the main story-line, when everything is at the highest point of tension the climax happens. The fixed deals with this too, they progress through the climax and just as the problem resolve--

-- It goes into the Mutable, looking at the resolution of the story. The transformation that happened to the character, from the Cardinal till now, the unweaving of the problem and other context cues that slowly relaxes because of the resolution. It’s that extra chapter to the story that looks at things a few years later, or gives a hopeful ending.

But you know the story continues on, whether you’re reading/watching it or not because there’s always going to be a different chapter to read anyways.  

Anyways point being, Scorpio’s transformation chapter is long because there’s a lot to touch here. Whenever there’s a fixed sign it’s always a long arduous journey to find that climax and come to the conflict resolution part you know? When it’s mutable sign it’s finding a good part to end the story because THAT’S another problem all together. It’s not about finding the climax, it’s about resolving everything to a point where you’re satisfied/feels evened out with everything.

Scorpio Venus: Conclusion

There’s a warmth that comes with Scorpio Venus, as a water sign they connect with others this way. Those who know them well know that they are steadfast and warm, they’re dependable people (even if their life feels like a mess to themselves personally.)

It’s part of that Scorpio charm, because they’re so giving and tactile-- their opposite sign Taurus/rules Venus can give Scorpio Venus a similar sense of being good at love/intimacy even if they themselves don’t think they are (can grow to learn more about it.) 

Since they’re a Pluto/Mars sign, there’s always a kind of forcefulness to their interests. Whether it’s a person, people or hobby/object. They pursue their love/self-expression in a manner that’s driven and focused.  

It’s also part of building upon/sustaining the 7th house/DSC/Libra that talks about social relationship. Scorpio are good at relationship, they just have a hard time figuring it out. 

Because they gotta confront this ‘climax’ part of the story the narration is going into. And also multitasking themselves/their own transformation as well. Multitasking means putting their will-power/core-drive/energy into splits and that’s something Scorpios aren’t good at (but Sagittarius is).

Venus (Scorpio) - Conjunct - Jupiter (Scorpio)

His social relationship depends a lot on giving to others, generosity and even-handedness. It’s about giving and receiving it back from others, that’s an equal relationship for him.

Always open to receiving/learning from others-- he connects to people socially and maintains his relationship with them through this trust/reliance on each other. At the same time, he can be extremely critical and wanting to see the ‘core value’ of people to fully trust them.

Surface level trust stems from mutual agreement and open-mindedness to each other, co-operation is a huge key here. But to actually maintain/have him back you up he has to really connect to you energetically as well. The intensity has to be there, you got to have depth and layers to your thinking, feelings, interpretations and thoughts. 

Again it’s that ‘mysterious’ thing Scorpio are attracted to, but dumbing it down a little it’s just layers. He has to know you’re conscientious and not a mindless corporate monster. 

Not weak-willed without your own sense of direction. There has to be that toughness there for him to depend on you/you depend on him. It has to be equal (Jupiter). 

Venus (Scorpio) - Trine - Saturn (Pisces) 

This is ...so surprising yet so heart warming to see

Having his love in a positive aspect to the planet of long-term establishment, this could point to how long lasting his love for his artistry/career is. 

Especially since both of these planets are in water-signs, his emotions runs deep and Pisces talks about artistry in particular. 

The intensity of Scorpio Venus (his love) channeled positively on long-term goals and plans into the arts. 

Pursuing music really was a life changing career goal for Namjoon. How deeply his love for music runs. 

Imagine younger Namjoon who just suddenly popped a presentation to his parents explaining why and how he should pursue a career in music.  Something so simple, yet so risky. It was just a thought, something that others sees it as ‘oh he’s probably going through a phase/wanting to try things out’ but having this aspect-- Namjoon probably has some idea of how deeply his love for the artistry ran, and he was willing to put his love on the line for this single chance.

It’s how he feel connected to others (Venus) it’s how he pulls his dreams (Pisces/Neptune) into reality (Saturn). 

Since they’re water signs, that’s some risky and tumultuous shit right there (emotionally). It’s like staring down a cliff into the dark stormy water below and trusting you’ll survive because you’re putting your trust/love/life on the line here. 

Music isn’t just a love for Namjoon, it’s something he breathes and consume. 

Scorpio intensity is so hard to describe, but it’s something you feel in your soul. Its your eyes opening for the first time, it’s that hitch in your breath and then the sharp inhale, it’s your senses coming alive--  including your heart and soul as well. 

It’s feeling like you could be caught at any time but you kept running anyways, with the frigid wind whipping your face and finger tips slipping away clumsily from your hands as you laugh and try your best to run. 

Cancer Mars | 2nd Decan (Mars-Pluto/Scorpio) 

When he has a grudge, he doesn’t let shit go like ever. 

Like emotionally he does, but how it affects him personally is that he has to digest it and use it to transform himself.

The hurt and hate he receives, it becomes food/fodder for him to turn into self-improvement (Scorpio/Pluto - transforming himself)

He’s already critical of others, this Cancer Mars rarely lets anyone in unless he feels like he can share/connect to emotionally as well. 

There has to be balance/stability because Cancer Mars wants that in their life. Family and domestic scene is a big thing for Cancer Mars to feel comfortable with people. 

Cancer Mars with the influence of Scorpio finds themselves with an abundance of power they don’t always know what to do with. 

Namjoon constantly over-estimating his own strength is key to this since sometimes he can have emotional outbursts (from Sagittarius Moon) that ended up in flapping of hands/arms/legs. 

Cancer here makes trusting himself (particularly himself physically) even harder, because it tends to hide behind it’s shell or cower back from things it can’t control (outside of it’s shell). 

Validation/reassurance about how he looks/appears physically is also a part of this. Most people think it would have to do with Venus, but when Mars is in a sensitive/semi-vulnerable position insecurities regarding how we come across physically is more prevalent here.

In contrast Venus-aspects (harsh aspects) tends to talk more about vanity or excessive vanity in a person. Lack of vanity/physical appearance might have more to do with Mars. 

Anyways, that’s part of why they want stability/reassurance because it builds confidence/they feel in control of themselves that way. Trusting in themselves and coming out of their shell is encouraged through this example. 

Cancer-Scorpio natives are planners/schemers, Scorpio brings a sharpness/analytical to the Cancer’s sensitivity here-- heightening it to their external environment/how they come across. 

People around them are also observed and dealt with accordingly. Sometimes Namjoon can look at members interaction that’s going on and evaluate very quickly whether or not he should get involved/engaged with them. The shadiness he expresses in his face, the sheer sass that he projects is Cancer Mars dealing with things.

It’s also a part of his thoughtfulness/caring nature that’s exerted/shown outward. 

Because he shows it physically, it makes Cancer Mars dependable people others can rely on through demonstration/consistency. 

It creates stability for others to rely on them, although they’re not outwardly nurturing they are sensitive to other’s emotions/moods and always looks out/protect/shield them whenever they can.

Cancer Mars: Dealing with Shit

They can also behave in a very-- aggressively passive-aggressive way. Because it’s not like Libra who’s lingering on the indecision side of passive-aggressive, Cancer Mars knows why they’re frustrated/mad and they want to unleash it (Cardinal). 

But they have to connect to others first to make the first punch, like edge the other person on so they get the clue before they really serves in the punches. It’s really just frustration honestly.

It’s because they’re resistant to change and they don’t want to get hurt themselves, that’s why they edge other people on to make that change for them-- force themselves into a corner so they have to fight/retaliate back (thus cardinal to tackle the problem once it presents itself). 

It’s like boxing? you duck when the other is attacking and you throw a jab/punch in there to retaliate. The movement is similar to what Cancer Mars is trying to come across with. But in terms of-- emotionally and physically.

Jin does it too, but he has a Scorpio Mercury and he just kind of snaps at the other person directly (Capricorn Venus - socially tends to be pretty direct) Yoongi does it too, but he has so much Pisces Mercury/Sun in the Cancer decan it’s all suppressed under that Virgo Moon-- pressed into becoming a grudge. 

Namjoon’s the type to use his Sagittarius Moon first to react, raging and getting all up about it. If he feels like he can’t outright protest, he resorts to his Scorpio Venus’s analytical nature to figure out the best way to hit it (Mars trad. ruler Scorpio but also social relationship) and exert himself with this Cancer Mars. 

Out of all the Cancer Mars Namjoon seems to be the one who goes about it the most passive aggressively (which mean it’s working well for him) Jin just uses his Aries/Scorpio to direct it out immediately. While Yoongi is more of the wait and see grudgey type. 

Jin and Yoongi probably more of the type to go back into their shell when hurt and confront it themselves first, while Namjoon’s pridefulness (along with aspects such as his Mercury-Mars) and rage sends him spiraling it outwardly most of the time.

Of course he’ll react like Jin and Yoongi too, but what comes naturally to people of the same placement can be different from one another. It’s just a matter of figuring it all out, the hierarchy and everything in their chart. How direct/open it’s flowing with one another.

Anyways, Namjoon Jin and Yoongi are all very tenacious and it shows. This is a common trait between Cancer Mars, their dedication to their work once they put their mind to it. 

As much as they need security/validation before they take any physical action (sensing/edging into the territory) once they choose to step foot in the direction they take charge (cardinal). 

Cancer are defensive but they’re not stagnant about it (not like fixed signs). They move forward, they’re constantly growing/learning as they integrate knowledge/feeling little by little.

Although they can appear slow because they’re not like-- aggressively attacking. They’re more like aggressively defensive and tentatively attacking.

Mars (Cancer) - Opposition - Uranus (Capricorn)

Mars aspecting Uranus gives the person a love for the eccentric, unusual and underdog type of people. 

He wants to make a difference for people like that, for people who are suffering from that difference. 

At the same time this need can be brash, acting without thinking. Lacks the stability/focus it needs that keeps Cancer Mars defensive. 

When it’s pulled one way or the other, sometimes it sacrifices the biggest lesson/trait the sign has to learn in order to Win against the other y know. It’s tough like that. 

It also emphasizes both Cancer-Capricorn’s worst trait, which is their stubbornness and inability to listen to others/open up to others. 

Mars (Cancer) - Opposition - Neptune (Capricorn)

This probably brought on alot of his introspective insecurities, since it talks about his dreams/subconscious/vision not being able to bring it through his actions into reality. 

It really emphasize that Depression Feels that Saturn (Pisces) brings about in us. 

A lot of hesitation with not exactly knowing what he wants, and being scared of whether he can manifest it into reality or not

And if he can, then is it what he really wants? Will he regret it later?

Cancer and Capricorn both wants stability before they act, so when they’re at opposition to each other it creates this dynamic where they have to learn from each other, compromise and understand each other through their differences. 

With Mars (activity) and Neptune (dreams/visions/subconscious) it’s wanting to bring/merge everything together but being held back by fear of rejection/criticism. 

Stemming from that initial hesitancy/fear of not knowing exactly how to phrase/word themselves, they don’t know if they can have the go-ahead to do things or if they should wait it out/look for other signs.

This is really cute since it’s at 0 degrees 

He’s always so surprised when people genuinely think he’s handsome/sexy/attractive/charming

Like-- his embarrassment is so genuinely him and humbling. Lilith is the space between the planets, so the void that talks about insecurities and a part of what our deepest fears might be (arguable, since it’s not a planet itself but the space between planets)

Namjoon’s Cancer Mars has the kind of placements that’s more suitable for someone to say he’s a ‘charming gentle oppa who feels kind and caring and like he can take care of others well’ -- so hearing he’s sexy/attractive/charming is such a?? wow I didn’t expect that moment for him.

Conclusion

Alot of the main focus was on the Sun-Moon aspect and placement themselves. For Namjoon, it ties in a lot with his head/heart and overall personality.

His luminary here is where the struggle is really at, everything else is kind of negotiating/meditating between the two, as well as doing their individual thing. 

Because his Sun-Moon ties into a lot of his other placements, the aspect it makes are more observable to see when we look at how it’s manifesting for him. (broadcast, interviews, etc.)

Besides the Virgo Sun/Capricorn Decan stuff, the Moon-Saturn aspect was hard to do. 

Namjoon’s probably been predisposed/conditioned through negative challenges and came to expect it, and stays stuck in that cycle he has to break from. 

It contributes a lot to his own self-worth, self-love and insecurities. It makes him even more reserved, even more sullen and moody. 

It makes him stubborn but also hesitant. Swings between craving/wanting nurture/intimacy and being distrustful/uncommunicative about his expectation and therefore-- hurting others around him.   

It plays a lot into his expectation, and as a leader he probably feels like he can’t develop fully into embracing optimism either. He has to keep an eye out for the team. This doesn’t help with his indecision, keeping one foot in and one foot out in his adjustment/expectation for the future. He can’t fully trust fate to play him a good hand. It does fuels a lot into his Virgo’s critical nature as well as his Libra Mercury’s analytical one though. 

The Venus-Saturn and a lot of the positive aspects we really nice to look at. 

I know I didn’t touch on the duality of positive-negative aspects (I only did one narrative for each one) but you should still remember/see that positive aspects will still have negative trait if used weirdly (and negative aspects will still have positive trait despite being a naturally occurring challenge to deal with) 

We don’t really get to see a lot of harder stuff on Namjoon which is what should be celebrated/looked at to appreciate him, so I hope this reading puts a little more focus on that so we don’t gloss over his hardship/challenges 

Know that there’s a lot of positive things in his chart going on for him too, this is just a narrative that shines a light on his hardship a bit more so we can embrace/appreciate him better (fully).

4) favorite character you’ve written

Uhhhh. Hm. Hard choice.

I’ll scratch out characters from my original work to make it easier lol.

Probably Mavis or Remnant? Though in very different ways. Mavis was a character I spontaneously fell in love with as she evolved as I wrote SLAOS, and slowly became one of my favorite voices in the story. Remnant was one of the most thought out pieces of Not As Simple -- I slaved over their design, their voice...their initial scenes were pretty much the only ones in that story I’ve ever completely rewritten. I wanted so much to get them right.

6) something you would go back and change in your writing that it’s too late/complicated to change now

Hm. I’d probably go back and rework the first few chapters of SLAOS to be more in line with the current direction of the story, and to give Loraine a more active role. She was never intended to be just the “fridged” character of the story at all, and I’d have loved to give her an expanded role while she was still alive to make that clear. She is the heart of SLAOS. 

I’d also probably revise certain sections of Act 1 of Not As Simple. Make it a bit longer and more in-depth. The sections talking about Integrity’s abuse in particular I look back on and frown, as they’re rather blunt and crude, and not the more nuanced approach I’d probably try to take with writing about child abuse now. Though I try to give myself a little wiggle room given it was three years ago, and I can definitely see my improvement in the progression of the story. 

16) are there any characters who haunt you?

Loraine lol. SLAOS was initially intended to be a much shorter project when I started it, which is a large part of why Loraine dies so early in the story. It wasn’t meant to be that early at all. Now that it’s grown this much, and has that much further to go, I look back on her and go “damn. I really wasted you didn’t I?”

18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?

A Nail Through A Star is a huge one, I won’t lie, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone no matter their familiarity level with the source piece (Warning though. It’s not a nice fic). And this is going back many years, but I can’t deny Que Sera, Sera had a resounding influence on me as a young writer. It very much influenced how I approached Not As Simple several years later in terms of timeline bullshit. 

In terms of not fanfic lol...Jurassic Park, definitely, and The Hunger Games, which is what got me interested in writing in present tense back in the day. As a very young child, Percy Jackson and The Companions Quartet very much influenced my early forays into writing. 

Right now, though? Definitely Kelly Link’s work. Particularly her “Get In Trouble” short story collection. She gave me the spark for the magical realism short story writing renaissance I was enjoying over the summer. 

22) are there any subjects that make you uncomfortable to write?

Uhhh...Abuse doesn’t make me uncomfortable to write about, since I’ve obviously dove into it in several fics, but I am cautious about approaching it. It can be such a sensitive topic, and unless I’m writing based on something related to my own personal experiences (which, for example, is pretty impossible when writing about child abuse for me), I like to think it out and make sure I’m not being overly crude or offensive.

Writing sex scenes is definitely something I haven’t wrapped my head around yet lol. I’ve discussed sex scenes for Three Crowns in brief with Katie, but in terms of actually sitting down and writing one for one of my stories, I kind of start to sweat. Not my area, really.

Ooooh...I think I’ll have some fun with this one, esp since I was talking about writing chronologically vs. nonchronologically in the last ask. 

Here’s a bit from one of my favorite scenes in SLAOS, so much so that I wrote part of it already, despite it being more than a few chapters off:

Hi I’m Kosmic. I draw webcomics and my webcomics are really long sprawling huge cast ones that will go on for years and they’re non linear and all this stuff that makes ppls heads spin when they try to explain wtf they’re about. I ask myself this question a lot: How the fuck do I maintain this motivation for continuing projects that are honestly, probably bigger than i can possibly feasibly create??? How do i avoid swallowed up by anxiety of my own creations???? is that energy going to run out at any time? should i be worried?? Well! For some reason I... don’t? like i get winded sometimes but in the end, I actually quite like what i do and I don’t care that it takes literally years to make my stories. but when I step back and look at it objectively it does make me scratch my head and wonder how i came to be in this situation. So, sometimes i  try and write a few things that help me with understanding my own process, for whatever reason. Or at least I’ll TRY to articulate some of the things i seem to tell myself again and again that help me feel very comfortable with my writing/creating process. So if you want an insight into tips that i give myself.. this is that! 

TIP #1 - Everything you Plan will take longer than you planned, but you can make it easier by unexpectedly including information you might have otherwise withheld.

Secrets are cool in your stories. I have so many of them, but I also understand that they’re much more fun to share than to always keep locked up and out of knowledge. I often overshare to the point where ‘info dumping’ happens which is often considered an unattractive quality in comics. But IDM it so much because my comics just need to be drawn and you can’t glorify and hold every flaw over your shoulders when in the end its not going to be that big of a deal. I think its better to give out more information than finding reasons to bend around a story to avoid revealing things. I feel it might even be more obvious if you attempt to do that.

Also, I feel that everything planned in a story can happen quite quickly, and feel much shorter than actually drawing it. Even with the experience ive gained, i still am surprised just by how much i must throw out to make my long scenes shorter and snappier. even then, they are still really long scenes. I don’t mind doing this, I like to make my stories this way- but ive also designed my comic to serve this pace by making my pages less intensive physically to make. I’m not going to go in depth about this as ive already discussed this many times before, but I do think its important to understand that generally, a commitment to a comic is going to be bigger and longer than it appears in your mind or even on paper as a script or thumbnails.

(my comic eggshells, for example, was originally going to be 340ish pages long. but back then, my pacing was much different-- and my pages were generally twice as wide with around 15 panels per page..sometimes more. but i would over-render and make them hard to read, and now i draw very few panels per page and my comics are much ‘longer’ in page count.)

TIP #2

-Accept that your ideas are bigger than what you can draw and enjoy the private context and history of your work without feeling like its less accomplished for not being all out there. Validate yourself but also understand that your readers are not going to understand the depth from your perspective and they will be engaging with the view they’ve been exposed to.

This is kind of a complicated one but I think that its both humbling to accept your work as this multi layered experiences of contradicting perspectives.. theres the planning and your engagement with the goals, the work of translating your creation to others and the vulnerable exposure of these ideas to the audience. As the creator, you get to see things in a very unique way that no one else can but... the one feeling you will never get to see is the audience who has no idea what will happen next. You can anticipate it, but in the end its so vast and unpredictable that it will be impossible to judge what they ALL will FEEL and sometimes? their perceptions can alter your own enjoyment of your work. I guarantee it will change it in SOME way.. that’s part of the sacrifice.

TIP #3

-Allowing change, flexibility and growth into your series- and letting go of control over all facets of it.

As time goes on things just change. Its hard to accommodate or prepare for that kind of investment in your work when you feel like you havent even gotten through the starting gates of your story. Comics are particularly difficult for that because once you draw a thing, it takes time to edit and you cant really undo and go back. Each panel informs and builds on the next. You have to use what’s there and figure out how it can be a structure for the future.

Accepting the past that has helped create the situation and platform of your comic in the present, which will lead into the future. Personally, i’m not a fan of retconing* certain decisions that have been already made into the canon-- however, i think if a new conclusion or idea is discovered in the process of writing and it works to include because it creates a new and alive energy in the work that will help push it to the next stage.. i think that’s very helpful and useful for sustaining the growth and motivation in a story. Making choices like this can be tricky, however, but even small ones can give a lot of natural growth and flexibility in the comic. The problem can often come with letting go of that unseen, unrealized version we had intended. I know for myself, i can get very nostalgically attached to old ideas but-- if i think of something better that works or makes more sense, I’m always thankful to let go and let my stories grow into a better thing. I try to remember where it came from, however. Because that helps inform me where to go.

(*generally my definition for this is altering events of the past, certain core plans of the comic, character motivations, or facts that are connected to the worldbuilding. im kind of a hoarder so once its in the story aka on a specific page-- its not going anywhere. until then things can be up in the air. for example, the characters knife and spoon were not originally intended to be mutually in love and it was more of a one sided idol worship, but as i fleshed their characters out i realized that it was mutual and it changed and altered the story because of that. now it cannot/will not be “undone” for whatever reason bc this is.. an established fact in the story. but at one point, it was not! i hope that makes sense.)

SO TO SUMMARIZE... plans will always be “”bigger”” in the ever expansive space of your mind so also dont be afraid to get to the point sometimes even if it feels a little, like. less exciting than you thought? accept your story is going to be different for YOU vrs your audience and make peace with that disconnect even tho its disorienting + upsetting sometimes & accommodate the ~natural personal and artistic growth~ you will experience and let go of things that might be holding you or your work back from improving with you. but also dont try to cut out too much of the past because.. it is what helped you get to where you are right now? focus on the present & allow growth for the future, dont try to alter the past and pretend it didnt happen. bc that will be confusing as fuck for everyone involved and also probably hurt the story more than help it. esp if its a long one. ur building a tower dont pull out too many foundational blocks and try to make it too much of something else unless its growing there on its own.. u kno? 

When I try to write these tips these are just things I find myself doing in a cycle as i create that seem to keep re igniting my passion for my story again and again. It makes me curious because it also is a very instinctual thing so I thought I might try and write it out!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY.

ALSO some bonus thoughts!!!!!!!!!! I will say that I’ve never completed a long format comic series, so take it w/ a grain of salt imo. HOWEVER...I probably will, eventually. Even if I don’t, I do enjoy writing really big ones and I feel very happy with the work i do on them! and still feel no inclination to move onto other things. Or even when I work on other things, I don’t have a feeling of dropping a story entirely. (for example, i still intend to work on my older series eggshells and don’t really feel a desire to ‘quit’ that story even when i have matured as an author/artist since starting it.)

When I read really long comic series I wonder a lot of internal decisions that happen out of sight, since the timeline of a comic that you read is so much different than the timeline it takes actually creating the thing. its so easy to write/plan/form ideas for lifetimes of work that will never be realized, so what is it that we actually get in the pages? What aspects of this author are we actually seeing? how much have they grown since beginning and what about the story we will never know? I know I’ll never know, because, I am only the reader! And as the creator, I will never know what the feeling of my work as the reader. or the cool and interesting things they predict will happen based on their perseptions, which are so different from mine. Yet!! we are all engaged in the same story unfolding, never fully discovering what its like on the other side but only getting little glimpses and thats fascinating how a story is almost this vast illusion of experiences maintained by so many different minds. 

Long format comics captivate me because they are just, really time consuming to make and the pacing of them are so different and less consumable than other stories. They like become.. this place you live in! Why are they my favorite to enjoy even when its natural that, when a story becomes longer, its going to end up attracting more & more issues? Why do i Not care about resolutions to long stories sometimes bc my expectations for them are different?? (also lets face it, experience writing long stories is going to be different than writing short ones because it takes time to write longer things & we are not going to have as much experienc having more than one completed super long multi-act-multi-characterplot story vrs a bunch of smaller ones. it doesnt mean its EASIER to write shorter ones, if anything id argue its probably much harder to write good short things + isolate a story down to that focused vision than making tons of long ones that avoid endings) but..yet!! here i am...

why am i constantly drawn to trying to understand long format stories when I probably could improve faster by writing shorter things??! i dont really know! but i follow my heart and my heart likes to do things this way......

anyway, this entire post is mostly inspired by the fact that many of my favorite stories started before i was even born or have been going on for decades and i wonder if we’ll ever read the endings to many of them.... would it.. matter? they’ve already inspired me so much even without a resolution because i can imagine my own endings to things.. but in the end that is not what happened in the actual story. it was only in my mind.. and yet it never happened, and was an illusion unknown to anyone but myself.....and sometimes my favorite stories are my favorites because of the things i imagined them to be, rather than what they actually were or how they actually turned out.. i dont know how this happens..... but i wonder about what this means with my OWN comics, and how my perceptions of what they could be vrs what they are is like, this weird illusion that also exists only in my mind and no one else can see it. yet we are both looking at the same thing. and i want to know what others see and i never will get to??? ....stories are......... so fucking spooky!!!!!!!!!! i don’t really remember? i’ve been writing (non-fandom) since i was a kid, but i don’t know what got me started. childhood is kinda hazy for me D: now, my friends have been a huge inspiration to keep me going, helped beta things for me, bounce ideas around... that kind of thing :)

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

start small. i mean yes, there are people who are successful at like “this is my first fic ever! it’s an 80k wip!!” but i highly recommend starting with shorter stuff. get a feel for world building, character development (esp if it’s original writing!), and oh my gosh endings ?? the worst.

also just write what you love. if you want to hc everyone in the entire show as a bunch of trans gay people, then do it. who cares if that’s “unrealistic”. who cares! if it makes you happy, do it.

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

depends. for short one shots, it’s usually like “oh what if this happened!” and then i just write it all out. for longer things or multi-chapters, i like to outline where i’m going, major plot points, etc. for my longest fic to date (152k) i had a separate like 20k document of backstory, character info, etc.

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

happily, no. i’ve had a couple of comments with like, suggestions or polite criticism, but never of the work in general and always really kind and well-meaning.

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

smut continues to be a challenge, tho i like to think i’m getting better at it? and angst. i love to read it, but i don’t think i’m so good at writing it.

currently editing my nanowrimo project, rising, which i have now posted chapter 1 of!

i have so many pans in the fire it’s crazy but i do prioritize one particular story at a time

I haven't seen many people talk about it, but Temple was right, the Reds & Blues *do* treat Caboose with kid gloves. They see him as stupid and sometimes annoying, but ultimately harmless and sweet and childlike (most of the fans do too, as did the last two writers). Alpha was really the only person who ever treated him like an adult (he still found him annoying, but tbh I think a lot of that was just bluster), who acknowledged that he was capable and *dangerous*. Maybe Tex did too, but [1/3]

[2/3] they didn't have many on screen interactions.And at first Wash did, but after Alpha died no one did. Which I think wasactually on purpose in regards to Epsilon? Because even though Epsilonacknowledges Caboose's strength at the end of Season 10, he still treatsCaboose like the others do. Whereas Alpha was *always* aware of how destructiveCaboose could and would be, to the point where he'd hide behind him in diceysituations because he didn't want to get caught in Caboose's crossfire.

[3/3] I also thinkit's a little interesting that Temple was supposed to analogous to Alpha(although how tf did the Director know that Alpha would be enough like Templeto make the stalemate work again? Also the stalemate only really worked in thefirst place because Temple and Biff were friends so?? But I digress!), and hadalso been the only one since Alpha died to acknowledge that Caboose was anadult, and even though he was cruel about it he still treated Caboose like hedid everyone else.

Hello, Anon! It was so nice to see this in my inbox omg, and I’m sorry this took so long, life has been hectic and stressful! Not to mention, I wanted to take the time to ponder about this, and lol I’m definitely going to be rambling a lot woops.

You’re absolutely right, anon. We, the fans, and the writers and even the BGC tend to baby Caboose a lot. Mostly, at least in my case, because he tends to exude innocence and naivety and you just wanna protect him as much as possible from the real world. But just because he does seem innocent and naive, it doesn’t mean he’s a kid. Alpha was probably the one who treated him the most as an equal, though that’s probably mostly because he’s an asshole to everyone. (Though maybe not?? Remember that RVB 360 video with Church doing the Dad Knee to Junior and talking to him?? Maybe he does know the difference between how to treat a kid and an adult. Won’t stop him from complaining about the kid around said kid though lol.)

I’m not going to lie, anon, these asks gave me some kind of existential crisis as I tried to figure out what exactly is the difference between a kid and an adult, besides ages, and how we’re supposed to treat them, (because it seemed like part the argument that you were implying about how Caboose is an adult and doesn’t need to be treated like a child was that he’s dangerous, and that didn’t sit well with me tbh so here I am over-analyzing a simple ask yet again lmao im sorry if i was wrong or misinterpreted).

Anyway, I’m pretty sure the difference has do with cognitive development. Kids’ thought processes are pretty simple, and this is especially clear from their idea of morality. I’ve heard my younger siblings exclaim so many times that something was unfair, and y’know sometimes they were right, but other times they weren’t taking into consideration other circumstances that made it so the situation was fair. Not to mention, that they’re selfish, through no fault of their own. So far, in their minds, they can’t really manage to consider other people’s point of view, and unless they’re taught differently and actually make the effort, that won’t change. And that’s where the difference between how adults are supposed to treat kids and other adults comes in. Adults, esp their guardians, are supposed to help them grow. They are there to encourage more complex thought processes and and help them walk through the logic if necessary. And they are there to offer advice bc adults have so much more life experience then kids do.

Caboose isn’t really like a kid at all. A lot of people might mistake the things he says as him being simple-minded but really, he just sees things differently from others and processes it differently. And that of course, seems weird and probably child-like to the others because by now they’re so used to how ‘normal’ adult minds work. And like, there are so many examples of posts on this site of adults or teenagers being surprised or caught off-guard by something a kid said or did, so I guess when the BGC encountered Caboose and had that happen to them, they kind of went Caboose = child.

Not to mention, Caboose is easily one of the most caring and empathetic characters on the show??? He loves his friends so much, esp Church, and would do anything for them. (Good examples of Caboose having complex thought processes and empathy: his speech to Tucker in s12 about how he shouldn’t be mad at Church, that episode of s14 ‘Caboose’s Guide to Making Friends’ or whatever it was called, s8 in general when he kept wanting to help Epsilon esp the end of s8. ‘But they’ll die!’ he says. He is completely aware of the possible consequences of what’s happening. He isn’t dumb.)

Anyway, back to the rest of the asks! About them treating Caboose with kid’s gloves.... I waffle between saying you’re absolutely right and going “Weeeellll....”. Because Temple says that right before he reveals that Church really is truly dead and Tucker is trying to stop him from saying it. And you’re right. Caboose shouldn’t have that hidden from him. He’s fully capable of hearing the truth and starting to process the grief. But the thing is, isn’t that what he was already doing in the beginning of s15? Before Temple sent them that corrupted message and gave him hope again? (Not to mention, in the grand scheme of things it probably isn’t that weird to thing Church could’ve honestly come back, he’s died and come back so many times.) And, as a friend, wouldn’t you want to do anything to protect your friend from getting hurt or from grief? Especially when the news is coming from your enemy? Of course Tucker wanted to stop Temple from revealing the truth like that. And it kind of happened in a tense moment. And Tucker hadn’t really been at his best emotionally all season (which believe me, I’m kind of displeased with :/    s15 Tucker is not my Tucker.) (The Blood Gulch Chronicles was probably the best in terms of Tucker treating Caboose like an equal. They definitely had sibling bond there, annoying each other and trying to get Dad’s Church’s attention XD)

I think Wash is pretty good about Caboose though. I still remember that s11 speech when he validated Caboose’s feelings of loss and asked for forgiveness for not being a better leader when he really needed him. I’d probably need to re-watch the seasons for myself in order to really confirm if they treat him like a child constantly that can’t comprehend what’s happening. It’s hard to tell for sure, because the writers kind of fuck that up from time to time, making Caboose seem dumber and the others reacting more harshly to it. Though where do we draw the line of them baby-ing him and caring for him? Like when Sarge let’s Caboose push the button in s3 and calls him a ‘litle rascal’ (i think?), is Sarge treating him like a kid there or just engaging in his enthusiasm? Or in s7 and s8 whenever they leave Caboose behind out of the fights, are they doing it to stop him from accidentally hurting others or because they genuinely think he’d be useless in the fight? Whenever they decide not to explain something to him, are they doing it because they think it’s a waste of time to explain something Caboose won’t understand anyway? (Personally, whenever Caboose misunderstands what someone explained to him, I think it has to do with a lack of concentration than just not being able to comprehend what they’re telling him. He probably has a tendency to drift. And he can concentrate when it’s important, so I think he’s okay) There are probably more examples, but I can’t think of more, I really do need to do a rewatch goddamn.

One last thing! About how Temple is analogous to Church and the stalemate. Correct me if I’m wrong (and I might seriously be, I watched s15 with friends, so I probably missed a good quarter of information), but isn’t the similarities between the two groups completely coincidental? Because Alpha wasn’t implanted and put into Blood Gulch until after Project Freelancer was destroyed, and Temple and the others were in an simulation outpost while Freelancer was still running, evidenced by Carolina and Tex showing up. And I don’t think it would be too hard for them to purposefully create a stalemate? The Counselor probably evaluated them and interviewed them, and learnt that Temple and Bif were friends, and just created the teams in such a way that they would either more or less take charge of their respective teams or be too lazy to fight, creating a stalemate between the two. Also I’m pretty sure Florida created the Blood Gulch teams on his own??? so it really is a coincidence. A freak-ish one for sure, and obviously kind of contrived because it was for plot, but it isn’t that bad.

Also, totally jumping off that one tiny thing you said about how Temple and Alpha were the ones to treat Caboose like an adult. First, I’m about 99% sure the reason why that’s the case if because they’re both huge assholes omg nothing will stop them from treating you like a dumbass. And, this is totally a more personal thought process that I’m just shoving at you, even though me and my friend spent most of our watch saying things like “Alpha would never do that!”, looking back on it, I think Alpha would. Keep in mind, Alpha was an AI created by Leonard Church. A man that when his wife died and he had been powerless to stop it, started torturing his own mind in the hope’s of one day creating an AI of his wife, and performing psychological experiments with the people under his command, who he is supposed to guide and train, and on his own daughter. If there had been a clear cause for what had happened, like in the case of Bif’s death, he probably would’ve gone absolutely insane in his quest for vengeance, like Temple did. And Alpha would’ve done the same, at least, probably before he had been tortured and fragmented. Afterwards, he didn’t really have much emotions or energy to bother with vengeance plots.

so many cool badges this year. #defcon via Hackaday

Hardware is the future. There is no better proof of this than the hardware clans that have grown up around DEF CON, which in recent years has become known as Badgelife. I was first drawn to the custom hardware badges of the Whiskey Pirates at DC22 back in 2014. Hardware badges were being made by several groups at that time but that was mainly happening in isolation while this year the badge makers are in constant contact with each other.

A slack channel just for those working on their own DEF CON badges sprung up. This served as tech support, social hour, and feature brainstorming for all on the channel. In the past badges were developed without much info getting out during the design process. This year, there was a huge leap forward thanks to a unified badgelife API: the badge makers colluded with each on a unified communcations protocol. In the multitude of images below you frequently see Rigado modules used. These, and some others using different hardware, adopted a unified API for command and control, both through makers’ “god mode” badges, and for wireless gaming between participant badges.

I was able to get into the badge makers meetup on Thursday of DEF CON. What follows is the result of a frantic few hours trying to get through the sheer volume of badges and people to share with you all the custom hardware on display. One thing is for sure — there were literally thousands of custom badges built and sold/distributed during DEF CON. I can’t wait to see what the artisanal hardware industry will look like in five years time.

The MrRobot Badge

I knew that Brian Benchoff was working on a badge in his spare time. I had no idea the production he had undertaken. Brian’s Mr Robot Badge was one of the most popular of DC25. He had been working on it for months, ordering several PCB test runs to get the look just right. That’s not a custom solder mask color for the skin tone. Brian used a clear solder mask and two layers of silkscreen when he had Seeed Studio produce the PCBs. It’s driven by an ESP8266 and includes a 144 LED matrix driven by an IS31FL3731. DC DarkNet Badge

DarkNet has got to be the most popular contest at DEF CON. It starts off with a pre-conference online challenge called a casefile. Anyone who solved the casefile was able to purchase one of these badges two hours before they went on sale to the general conference-goers. The badge is necessary to solve the rest of the contest challenges

Our friend [Krux] is the mastermind behind the badge design. As you can see, it is laid out to resemble a rotary phone. Each of the numbers on the dial is a capacitive touch sensor, and the numerals/letters are open spots in the copper. These let back-mounted LEDs shine through. The badge comes as a kit so to use it you first must solder on those surface-mount LED as well as a connector for the screen and the LiPo on the back.

Who Doesn’t Love Blinky?

[Brian Benchoff] actually built three badges for DEF CON. The second was terrible, but the third was a solder kit of Ohm, the Tindie dog. [Jasmine Brackett] and [Shulie Tornel] were on hand talking to people about Tindie (a great place to sell extra hardware badges) and handing out the solder kit that includes two self-blinking LEDs, coin cell and holder, and a custom PCB.

[Sean McCabe] had a 3D badge. It’s the DEF CON 25 logo (note the 2 and 5 make up a skull with keys as the crossbones). There’s an RGB LED controlled by an ATtiny85 and coin-cell on a custom PCB. Grab the design files on his repo.

There was also a ‘punt’ badge. The SecKC folks built a badge (shown later in this article) but couldn’t produce enough in time so they showed up with edge-lit acrylic badges.

DC Zia 505

The DC Zia crew had about 10 people working on the badge this year. It’s their third year building badges for DEF CON and this one features four Cherry MX mechanical keyboard switches… clicky! The badge is a shield for an Arduino 101 (RIP). Last year they built a badge that was a shield for a Raspberry Pi and had a full-color video screen which they were showing off at the meetup. They are also joining in another trend, several badge groups (including MrRobotBadge) were giving away custom fidget spinners as swag.

AND!XOR God Badge

I’m not going to go too far into the AND!XOR badge since I did a full hands-on with the badge before the con. Here we can see the “God” badge that only the core team had. The Bender on a Bender was top three most popular badges at the con if not the most popular. They had a hugely successful Kickstarter and everyone was trying to get one at the con.

They shipped with the multiplayer features disabled until a code was input. This was Tweeted out at the beginning of the con and once people unlocked theirs the botnet game began. I was able to terminal into it and escalate my privileges to get root ([@Hyr0n] did help me out by suggesting which of his hint Tweets to revisit). I came across [Samy Kamkar] with on in the Chill Room. The code running on the ARM processor was read protect and [Samy] was using a Chip Whisperer to try to side-channel attack the badge. That’s pretty awesome!

Note the brain-slug addon board. There were about 10 of these built to test out the breakout header for hardware hacking.

Car Hacking Village Badge

Badgelife is often pushing right up against deadlines to get everything finished — this is an extracurricular activity after all. This is the un-populated Car Hacking Village badge. The assembly took longer than expected and the finished boards hadn’t arrived as of Thursday evening but did make it for sales in the village on Friday. 900 of these were for sale at $50.

You can see the full glory in this animated Tweet. An OLED display makes up the grill of the truck (which is a PCB itself) with amber blinkies all around. This is car hacking after all so the footprint on the left is for an ODB-II connector.

The Tribble Badge

The Tribble badge was a total surprise for me. [@emilyincarnate] built 58 of them and they were all hand-sewn and hand-soldered. The little balls of fluff were built around Adafruit Trinket boards, with addressable LED discs for eyes. I’m a sucker for the PCB badges with challenge games built into them, but I fell in love with this and it was my favorite to wear around the con. Perhaps I’m anthropomorphizing? I checked out the associated website and it seems there are some crypto challenges waiting to be solved over there. Get to work.

DC801

Look on the back of the DC801 Sheep badge and you’ll spot the familiar Rigado module that drives it and links it to the unified botnet game spanning many of the badges and Bluetooth greetings that talk back and forth. In addition, the firmware broadcasts username and then play a game of contagion.

[@rushan_ee] has been developing the board. The prototype boards carried by the core developers have “God” mode that can make clients go in and out of party mode. In total, they built 290 boards plus the 10 prototypes. Presales were coordinated through 801labs hackerspace in Salt Lake City. This is the second year Rushan has led the design and 5 years total for the hackerspace.

Octopus Badge for Bsides Vancouver

The Octopus badge was built for Bsides Vancouver a few months back. [Jake King] made a total of 120 for Bsides Vancouver. It is driven by an ATtiny85 with blue LEDs on four of the eight tentacles. There are two WS2812 modules for the eyes but [Jake] usually leaves them off because they drain the coin cell battery really quickly. You can get your hands on the design files on his blog.

Ides of DEF CON

I think the Ides of DEF CON badge was one of the other top three most popular badges. It was inherently a multiplayer badge, letting you discover and battle other badge owners wirelessly in a video role-playing game. You could walk around the con and see people sitting around glued to these badges like a Game Boy.

Thursday night was the first night everyone was getting together and when we ran into [Zapp] from the AND!XOR crew he was already topped out in level, and XP. The firmware wasn’t read protected (like the AND!XOR firmware) and so [Zapp] dump and disassembled it to artificially boost his player ranking. It’s an instant classic.

You can read about the dev process on the Ides of DEF CON project page. They had a very successful Kickstarter earlier in the summer.

Team Bazooka Badge

This badge was introduced to me as the only badge with a Vacuum Fluorescent Display on it. The VFD is an HD44780 addressable character display. Powering it is a 18650 cell in a battery holder. This is becoming an incredibly popular setup for badges and other custom hardware. You can check out the design, which is based around an ATmega382, on the Team Bazooka repo. This is an ultra-rare badge — so far there’s only one.

Hardware Warehouse

We also took a close look at the Hacker Warehouse badge before the con. It has an ESP8266 laid out right on the board rather than opting to solder on a castellated module. The badge is a built as a WiFi testing unit, leveraging the ESP chip’s flexibility in that realm to scan for AP, listen to packets, and even spew deauth packets. I don’t think there was too much mayhem cause on that front this year.

One of the really cool things that went along with the Hacker Warehouse badge is that they shared their space in the vendor area with other Badgelife folks. This provided an area for people who had acquired any of the badges shown off in this article a place and time to meet up with the badge creators themselves. Neat!

It’s worth noting that this was the first hardware endeavor for Hacker Warehouse which has focused on offensive security up to this point.

DC503

The DC503 throws503.party. Thank you to [Joe Fitz] for letting us crash it. The party is privately financed and supporting these badges is one way to get yourself into the party. [Joe] is behind this badge, as well as the bicycle design we saw at DC23.

One hundred of these badges were made through the effort of four team members and with the labor-saver of professional assembly. You can see the Rigado familiar rigado module on the back, and the coin cell that powers the badge. I really enjoyed seeing the lanyard, which is a USB-to-Serial cable. You are literally wear what you need to hack it around your neck. The badge hacking contest was judged in the suite at Caesar’s during the 503 party.

SecKC Badge

SecKC is the Kansas City infosec meetup. They wanted the badge to be a devboard and based it around an NRF module from Sparkfun. So far they’ve seen numerous hacks on the design, the best of which turned it into a cellphone with a rotary dial.

The crew had a preorder of 50 boards and ended up building 60. There was demand for more but they couldn’t get the boards fast enough so they made the acrylic badges we mentioned earlier in this article.

Puffy Badge

The puffy badge is another that we had an in-depth look at before the con. Shaped like a puffer fish, the badge is based on a router chipset module that was sourced from “some dude in China”. Searching for router chips that could run linux, 40 of the modules were ordered for the project. More details about the development process are available on the website.

Megabling and Derbycon Black Badge

Some people feel like they need to answer the question “How bright can a conference badge really be?”. [Blenster] answered this with a huge triangle badge powered by six 18650 Lithium cells. Look at the power regulation on the back of that thing!

Not to be outdone (by himself), [Blenster] was also sporting a DerbyCon 2016 Black badge which he designed and built himself. Those LEDs have a tiny pitch and he hand-placed and hand soldered with an iron — incredible.

Dragonfly Badge

The Dragonfly Badge was featured on Hackaday before the con. It’s primarily a blinky badge, but put more than one of them within sight of each other and they’ll sync up their flashing. One of the really nice touches is the aesthetic of the IR receiver on the tail.

106 of these were built but only 85 were fully functional on Thursday night. In true hacker fashion, the rest were being reworked in the hotel room. I saw a ton of these around the con so I suspect the rework effort was worth it!

Crypto and Privacy Village Badge

The Crypto and Privacy Village badge was one of the most gorgeous pieces of hardware on hand. The team went all out, even delivering the badge in beautiful matte black boxes with guilded lettering and a magnetic closure. The lanyardware have a cypher on them, the back of the badge has a cypher on it. There were PCB keys, ornately cut in interesting shapes. The badge is based on the WROOM32 (ESP32) moduel. It drives a backlit display with a rotary encoder on the front and a few capacitive touch sensors. The package included earbuds; the badge has a headphone jack and was set up to stream DEF CON radio all weekend. That’s a feature of a different color and quite fun!

Plugging into the badge you were greeted with MicroPython for you own badge hacking. On the wireless side, it finds other badges. I couldn’t get confirmation for sure but I heard that these were putting backdoors into the Bender on a Bender badge. Yes, it’s wireless badge warfare out there, friends. These boards were selling for $120 in the Crypto Village. When they sold out the team was trying to get the nonfunctional badges working but would sell to enterprising hardware hackers for $50 upon request.

Bsides San Francisco Badge / Life’s A Breach

[bon] and [redacted], the team behind the Bsides SF badge, came out with two badges this year. Their ‘official’ badge is being pitched as a ‘body camera badge’ for their conference in February. Their second badge is quite literally the best 3D printing work we’ve ever seen.

The Life’s A Breach / Tiki badge is more or less what you would expect from a conference badge — there are blinky bits, batteries, and some nice silkscreen art on a PCB. This gets dialed up to twelve when the 3D printed parts are added. The plastic parts on the Tiki badge are snap fit, with plastic bosses for holes on the badge, tiny ledges to clasp the PCB firmly, and a bit of vellum used as a diffusor for the eyes. We’ve been around the block with 3D printing, and we’ve never seen anything that marries milled PCBs and printed parts this well. We’re literally begging the Tiki crew for a write-up on how they managed to do their plastic parts.

1Bitsy 1UP

  The 1Bitsy 1UP badge should be an incredibly familiar form factor. It’s shaped just like a Game Boy, but with an extra set of right-hand buttons like on the old SNES controllers. With a beautiful color display and audio, this is the portable gaming experience you remember, but hanging around your neck as a conference badge.

The dev board on the front is the 1Bitsy. This was given out to all attendees at the Open Hardware Summit last October. Mine is still on my desk waiting for some love and this is the type of demo I needed to get really excited about it. At the con, [Piotr Esden-Tempski] was running a custom game he wrote for it and the thing is super fast. The pattern demonstration shown here is running at 80 FPS and this is without a framebuffer. It’s the STM32F4 banging 8 bits into the ILI9325 display using DMA that makes this possible. On the back you’ll find an 18650 for power, along with a battery minding circuit and an SD cards slot. We can’t wait to bump into [Piotr] at he next live event to see what’s been a added to the part of the board marked:

Here be dragons. Well, not at the very moment, but soon, I promise! Just wait for it. :D

Red’s LoRa Badge

I missed syncing up with him at the meetup but later ran into [Red] in the Chill Room. He has been doing the hardware badges for SkyDogCon and built a special badge just for DC25. It is sniffing LoRa packets and displaying them on two screens. He wrote the firmware on the plane. The platform is meant for development so plenty of room to grow here. It has a multitude of switches, both momentary press and DIP, which are controlled by the Propeller chip that runs the board. For connectivity there is the LoRa module and an ESP8266.

There’s actually a really cool concept at work here. He sets up a server in his room in a different hotel as the Internet gateway. The badge phones home on LoRa, which has great range, eliminating the need to navigate the shady WiFi options during the con.

Quadcopter Badge

This badge is a lot of things in one. Primarily it’s a quadcopter complete with a badge-based remote control. [Brian] covered it in depth before the con and we were so excited to receive this badge kit at our Breakfast at DEF CON meetup.

Weight was carefully considered during the development process. But for some reason the thing just wouldn’t get off the ground after everything was assembled. For this reason, there are two versions of the skull badge, one that flies and one that bling. You can see the add-on board for prototyping which is mean to look like a pirate’s bandanna, and in the upper left you can see the dual-stick controller complete with a buzzer and screen.

The greatest year of electronic conference badges yet

Badgelife is truly amazing. Should you give it a try? Yes, but not for the money. This is an art and not a business endeavor. There is no badge competition between makers, there is only a willingness to celebrate the effort and ingenuity to that go into every badge, whether it be a blinking LED or a networked multiplayer game. This is what drives the developers and what makes the badges themselves such a hot commodity at the conference.

This was the greatest year of badgelife yet, and we can’t wait to see what everyone will come up with by next year.

Hi, sorry, this is about the economic conference stuff. I was thinking about macroeconomics, though esp. public economics or labor economics I guess (those two are my v. tentative areas of interest), when I was asking the question. I guess when I asked the questions about conferences, I was thinking about the AEA Annual Meeting that I read on Noahpinion a while back, though those kinds of all-encompassing conferences are probs rarer. I'm not still quite sure what economists do, though, otherwise

Shoot, sorry, I just read your bio and realized you're British. I was asking mainly from an American POV, so not sure how much that changes things 

Okay, so in all honesty before this ask I'd never heard of the ASSA/AEA Annual Meeting. Now, I really want to go, if only to go heckle the 2017 Presidential Address to said convention.

Otherwise, I know nothing about economic conferences, especially huge American ones like that where I'm guessing only well-respected professors are asked to present. So unfortunately, I can't help with that. I have, however, utilised a very useful contact, so here’s a very helpful interlude from guest mod M:

Depending on the conference, all kinds of people present! Some aren’t even necessarily economists by trade. A lot of postgrad/grad students, and also occasionally undergrads (depending on the conference), go to present research, listen to presentations, and network. Sometimes research grants may require you to present at a conference. There are really so many different types of conferences and each has their own requirements, submission guidelines, focuses, etc. If the conference is very important to the plot, you may want to custom tailor the conference to your needs.

I would really recommend having a very specific focus, more so than just public economics or labor economies, when it comes to research. You could then design a conference focusing just on public economics and have a character present on the efficiency of microcredit programs in regards to increasing community food security in a specific region. It would totally be realistic to only listen half-heartedly to the presentation (unless it’s on your exact research topic) because let’s be honest, 75% of them are super dull and many grad students only go to conferences because it’s essentially a fully (or at least mostly) paid vacation and gets you away from your crammed corner in your department (and has free food!!!). If you are going to network, plan on having at least two “good” questions for the presenter before you even go to the presentation, and adapt your questions around the presentation (absolutely do not ask a question that was already explicitly addressed or else you look really bad).

Also many conferences have cocktail hours. This is bomb because free food and drinks (aka literally the best thing ever for broke postgrad students). Great for networking. Everyone wants to talk about their research and will be pretty pleased if you remember their projects and ask about them. Honestly, I fully have attended conferences/presentations for just the free food. If your University is hosting a conference, even better, because it is totally easy to sneak into other conferences (like a physics conference or something idk) and steal their food. Usually conferences are hosted at convention centers, but smaller ones are can hosted at universities or hotels.

If you really need a conference for your plot, I would suggest you either a) do a beforehand to afterwards transition focusing more on the emotions of your character(s) so you don’t have to somehow gain a PhD level understanding of public/labour economics, or if you really need to show what's going on in there, you can come back to me and we can try to BS an academic paper/panel discussion together. As M said, it will probably be helpful to limit the breadth of your conference massively, so you can limit your own research. One talk topic to research versus the whole of public economics should save you a lot of time.

As for what economists do: well, pretty much everything. But since you mentioned a professor/PhD student before, I'll focus on academic study, specifically on labour or public economics. Professors will be taking undergrad lectures and seminars, and while I don’t know exactly how postgrads and professors interact, I do know that (in the UK at least) postgrads often help out by taking some seminars. Both professors and postgrads will also have their own research projects, professors because they need the money and postgrads to get their masters or, in your case, PhD.

What they teach and indeed what they’re researching will depend on the institution. Some universities will have an economics department that specialise in labour or public economics, which means that your professor can teach a very small, specific area of their discipline (which would probably mean less research for you, as you could just go very in depth into one area). A postgrad will usually target an institution that is somewhat renowned for or specialises in their chosen topic of study too, so they can benefit from the extra knowledge and expertise. If your professor worked at a university that doesn’t specialise in those disciplines, they might be one of two or even the only professor of their subject, which means they’ll probably teach a very broad base course touching on just about everything about their topic, and not much else.
