Sure! I mean we can take out Harry as #1 and Liam as #5. So then it comes down to the other 3. I think Zayn is, and I’ve changed my mind recently on this, #3. His music career is not why I put him there. I think he has equivalent musical success w niall (at different times in different ways). But I do think Zayn’s brand of like being ZAYN and being hot and having a clear vibe and identity and creative/artistic vision/talent is actually what actually keeps him relevant. His name feels familiar even though like he is not doing big releases or tours etc. Then Niall and Louis. I think they have roughly equal music success bc they are stronger in different areas. Niall has a couple of well known singles which Louis is not exactly there (like songs your aunt plays on the kitchen yk). But what puts louis to me at #2 is his ability to keep/GROW his fanbase and harness its power. Like we are insane for him. I know this is our normal but like Niall does not have this. He has lots of casual fans that were 1d ppl and maybe a few harries that also are niall stans (and then ofc a couple hardcore stans) but I am very confident in saying Louis has MANY more hardcore stans that drive engagement. At least I like to hc he's in his junior year. Cause I'm fairly sure he's 18 currently? But I thought it made sense for him to be in a grade below), would interact with him, Asa and Yoshida more,,, stuff like that :3c

I'd like to say that Part 2 Only!Gabi would've been present for the Aquarium date (which would've been framed as a hangout bc when Asa tried to ask Denji out, Gabi was there too and she didn't wanna be weird) and would've been over at Denji's place with Asa (The kiss still would've happened, but Gabi wouldn't have been effected much by Nayuta - which is its own plot point that I can elaborate on if someone's interested!!!!), and most likely would've been present in the Falling Devil arc!!!

hi! i am glad you enjoy the occasional literature talk—it's what i live and breathe for :') i think my love for frankenstein really comes down to how closely i worked with the text over the years. i think i read it for 3 different classes throughout my academic life, so i had the chance to really read the text thoroughly and engage with it from different angles. what i love about it most is probably how much is just *there* in the text; it's about parenthood, it's about nature vs. nurture, it's about hubris, it's about humanity and what it means to be human, it's about the romantic sentiment, it's about the consequences of your actions, it's about the scientific progress and how to (not) approach it and the responsibility that comes with that, it's about the consequences of being ostracised to the human psyche, it's about the cycle of violence, it's about transgenerational trauma, it's about what it feels like to live up to other people's idea of you, it's about being forced into a life you haven't chosen for yourself, it's about taking responsibility, it's about language, it's about writing and the creation of art...... and that's not all of it! i mean, you can adopt basically any of the lenses of the literary analysis toolkit and have the text make sense from that perspective (from historical criticism to marxist, feminist or queer theory -> the feminist and queer theory ones make for such interesting readings of the text. i mean i am sure you've heard about how the creature can be read as an manifestation of victor's homoerotic desires (and subsequently a externalisation of his internalised homophobia). the queer subtext in victor's dynamics with henry and elizabeth is definitely there. and ofc when looking at it from a feminist perspective how there's a clear absence of women with agency in the story and as a consequence the absence of female qualities and how all that contributes to the characters' eventual downfalls. yet the story is framed, presented AND centred by (indirect) women's narratives that seem to be almost overshadowed or suppressed—women's writing is essential to the existence of the story BUT there is only the indirect allusion to women narrators, we never actually read from a female writer (think captain robert walton's letters to his sister margaret walton saville in the most outer layer of the story and safie's letters at its core -> also consider the historical implications of how the writing of narrative letters was often practiced by women etc.).) do you see what i mean??? that's just a couple of examples and far from an exhaustive list of readings!!!

this novel really gives you so much to think about and talk about when you take the time to really engage with the text and sit with it. that also makes it great for rereads bc every time you go in with another focus you'll get something else out of it. and i love when a novel is able to work on so many levels.

and ofc it's also such a monumental text. that fact alone manages to sparks awe in me???? i mean, mary shelley really wrote the first sci-fi novel at 17 and lay the foundation for one of the biggest genres we know today. that's just mind-blowing to me as well.

that's the gist of it, really. but yeah, i have a lot of love for this novel in my heart. it's definitely my favourite classic.

take for example todays chapter: we now know yun was killed bc she kept talking about the whispering voices she kept hearing, NOT bc of her blood type, which we thought was the case. now why the victims conveniently/coincidentally had different blood types, we don't know anymore.

at least I think it's harder to believe that yun was conveniently the one bringing up the voices and was coincidentally murdered for her blood type of all things.

They rent out a section at a relatively nice bar tbh. Not the cheapest and you can actually hear conversation. But also not a super expensive one where the patrons are middle aged with jazz music and the occasional track to relive “youth.” Komori’s a sweetie and will come outside to get you when you text that you’re there. You’ve met washio and ofc sakusa Before so you greet them casually then you turn and there’s Suna and a few others you haven’t met.

That greeting isn’t anything special I promise. Just “hey I’m so and so” and vice versa. It’s one of those meetings where you just think “he’s cute” but it’s such a fleeting thought. Y’all don’t even really talk that first night tbh. At the next practice Suna mentions offhandedly that he didn’t know komori was dating someone and komori is like: huh? Yeah sorry. I love (Y/N) and all but were just friends. Suna just shrugs not really caring to be honest until Komori just asks what did he think of you.

“Don’t really remember much man. Seemed cool though” he didn’t think he’d really see you again. Yeah you were close enough to have been at Komori’s birthday but if that was his first time ever meeting you, he figured you weren’t from around there are present very much. Yeah he was wrong.

Suddenly you were on Komori’s snap story more often, or maybe he’d just been noticing more. Too bad he couldn’t even remember your name 💀. Then it turned into you occasionally popping up where he was. He’d been told your name at least 5 times already but wouldn’t remember it the next day. Whenever he’d see you again he’d get a strained look like: “what is this mf name again” just laugh and tell him again bby.

That changed at some random house party by another mutual friend you two apparently had? You two were the only people just around the fire pit trying to catch some warmth in the chilly night. He’s probably just on his phone head bobbing his head to the muffled music from inside. And you’re just like “remember my name yet?” All jokingly. This sparks the tiniest bit of interest in him and he lets out a low chuckle and just admits “not at all.” I also feel like this is the first time he really looks at you and he’s like 🤨, wait you’re actually kinda cute.

That night y’all just kinda talk and vibe. The conversation comes easy as you two jump back and forth from talking about the music playing to sneakers which he brings up to stuff that you like. He’s actually really easy to talk to. So easy that u can forget about him not remembering your name despite meeting several times. You mention that you’d hung around komori before while they were gaming and that he seemed pretty cool. That leads him to asking “how do you know him anyways?”

“I used to date Sakusa”

Mentally he’s just like— ‘yeah I’m not getting involved in this. Time to go.’ Until you just start laughing.

“I’m kidding. He’s not really my type. We met after being paired together for a project in school.”

The two of you spend quite a bit of time just talking that night until you are joined again by some friends and it’s deadass like y’all weren’t just talking for almost an hour straight.

Getting Together

The process of getting together is like a cat and mouse game. You two start getting closer than friends and then something happens and you’re not talking for weeks. Whether it be life just getting busy, and then someone ending up on some random tinder date or so be it. Definitely one of those things were somehow someway y’all end up just hanging on one of your couches watching a movie. At some point there’s definitely a hint of sexual tension but neither of y’all act on it (later on you find on his finsta that he used to post several “i wont you 😔” memes  Folks can’t tell if hes joking or not (hes not))

You probably gotta tell that man you like him so if that ain’t you I’m sorry. Y’all not dating 😹. It’s something casual, y’all going to pick up some snacks for a movie night and why this mf keep looking at you out the side of his eyes instead of the road. You def texting the groupchat asking if you should confess. They tell you to boss up and just do it baby.

You literally end up confessing in that parking lot. Like right when he shuts the car off and starts swinging his keys on his finger and you kinda just blurt “I like you. Like like you.” He just kinda nods before his eyes widen. “Wait are you fr?” Like no you’re joking tf. It gets a lil awkward so you just go to get out the car and he’s like “I like like you too.”

I definitely don’t think either of you ever officially asked the other out it’s just at some point the understanding that you two are a couple. Like when you’re hanging out just you two hes more touchy, and then y’all start kissing and holding hands at some point. Then when you’re with friends he almost exclusively sits next to you and your friends notice the whispers in one another’s ears at the loud bar that seem just a hint too intimate for ppl who are just friends. Then y’all start arriving and leaving places together and people just at some point get the message (it’s later confirmed by you tweeting some shit like: I hate Rin why is that mf my boyfriend)

As far as anniversaries y’all draw straws to pick a day in the ballpark of the time y’all both think you became official. That’s the day you stick with even if it’s not true.

Relationship Flaws

A fault in the relationship is sunas kinda poor communication when it comes to things that matter. How he feels. Arguments. Love sure as hell don’t come east with anyone but when your partner won’t let you in? Yeah that’s like hell. That’s something you struggle with. And then on your end, it’s the impatience with him not letting you in. You try to wrongfully rush it.

 There’s definitely been arguments that stem from him just being upset about something unrelated to the relationship then coming to you for comfort without actually telling you what’s wrong. He kinda just wants to lay with his head on his chest but at some point that’s not enough. Y’all are in a relationship and should be able to talk about your bad days too.

You’re not innocent in this issue either because sometimes it comes off too pushy. Yes it’s from a place of care but sometimes that silent comfort is necessary. The walls will break in due time and y’all both know that deep in the back of your minds But then there’s a part that’s like— yeah we can’t let this become the norm

“Rin, can you please talk to me”

He will have literally told you “whatever” and that he “can’t deal with this rn” several times as he just shrugs and is like yeah “I’m gonna just go home. I’ll text you later” with an awkward ass pat on your shoulder if it really ruined his mood. If he’s leaving before he gets super upset and uncomfortable just some half assed kiss in your cheek

Another thing is I feel like he could be passive aggressive and let’s be real other folks doing it causes you to do it to. Y’all probably drag eachother on your finstas where you can both see it lol

But when it comes to making up he cracks first and apologizes when he started it. Or as y’all get more comfy with communication. If it’s not anything major he’ll just hit you with a text like “I’m bored come hang”

More Relationship Things

I feel like he love/hates driving. Likes the ride not always driving though. So if you ever proposed a late night drive he’d be down (if you offer to drive). He does let y’all take his car though. He reclines the seat pretty far back. Alternates between just closing his eyes vibing w/ the music or kinda just looking at you (he the type of bf that makes u nervous no matter how long y’all been together)The way he looks at you makes you nervous cause that man is fine as hell and you can just feel his eyes on you.

He films you on Snapchat and sends the video to you like “you look hot”

If he’s not ‘resting his eyes’ he’s mumbling along to the music because he has the aux. if y’all music tastes are different he occasionally throws in something you really like bc he likes how you perk up at one of your fav songs

Moving on. Y’all dap eachother up after s3x because it’s “modern romance” (boy stfu). You two came up with a sex playlist together and it’s on both of your phones. Sometimes one of you will add a troll song that the other doesn’t know and put it in the lineup. (Stole my heart by 1D has definitely played before and you were practically in tears laughing at his reaction. That was one of those songs he was like ‘yeah alright i think we’re done).

At some point you two develop your own handshake and it’s cute. Whenever either of you have to travel without the other that’s always the last thing you do before you leave eachother. There’s vids of your friends daring y’all to do your elaborate ass handshake drunk and doesn’t matter what’s in your system, you both know it like the back of your hand.

I think he values quality time a lot so there’s so many nights where you’re both just chilling in his room just doing your own things. He could just be at his desk watching some game highlights and you’re just doing hw on his bed with your own earbuds in work all spread out and he’s content. He’s also attentive so if he calculates that you’ve been working too long he’ll just take ur earbud like “hey let’s go get something to eat.”

People definitely think he’s the lazy one in the relationship but it’s 100% not true. Like stated above, he’s very attentive and can pretty much gauge how you’re feeling in the blink of an eye. He knows when you need alone time but won’t go without reassuring you that he’s here whenever you’re ready. When you do just need him he’s there without a second thought. If you’re more touchy he’ll have your head in his lap his arm running up and down your as you tell him what’s wrong. He knows when to joke about a minor inconvenience and over the course of your relationship knows when to cut the jokes and be serious with you.

He’d never admit it but he knows your coffee order by heart (he keeps up his image my asking wtf do you get everytime. Just let him LOL). He the type to peek at what you plan on wearing and ‘accidentally’ color coordinate then pull some shit like “why are you copying me”

Y’all def shit talk together. See someone doing something completely out of pocket in public— straight to ur phones you go (pack it up shade room). To the public it just looks like you aren’t paying any attention to one another on your dates but y’all are. Just over the phone so u don’t piss off ur target 😌

just generally speaking yes in real life u'll hear abt horrible ppl n then find out they're victims of abuse but there r also ppl who are just like that bc they're Like That. doesn't have to be a trauma behind it. "local bully was bound to end up like this bc he's an abuse victim n those ppl just can't be trusted to be kind n they're dangerous n suspicious n toxic" is not the fresh new unique take druck thinks it is.

also when it comes to constantin's role in the bullying this has two directions. like being a victim of abuse doesn't give u any right to inflict harm on others so this rly can't be used as an "explanation" for his actions. especially bc now we also know some things abt how they bullied ava ("big mama" "fat cow"...) those r not just general things u say to ppl bc ur frustrated w ur own life n want to take it out on someone else (which, just to be clear, isn't any better either) but they're very targeted insults abt ava... smth that in constantin's (& ismail's) eyes made ava lesser than them. so to then try to imply that the reason behind constantin's actions is more abt his inner turmoil n his own terrible life instead of the very clear external bigotry that he has canonically exhibited...... yeah

also this is where i think they kind of backed themselves in a corner w this bc ofc they don't have to do that? if they go the other direction they can still emphasize that constantin is fully responsible for everything n the abuse isn't what caused all that. but then they kind of end up enforcing the thought that this absue victim just happens to also be a bad person guess it runs in the family. (this all also applies to the way he treats ismail n how he's a bad friend, like sometimes ppl r bad friends bc they r Like That, not bc they ~learned it from their parents~ or some shit that would in some ppl's eyes reduce the accountability)

it isn't directly comparable but it all reminds me of the "homophobic bully turns out to be a closeted gay" trope as if the only reason homophobes exist is bc they're actually gay ppl n cishets would never actually bully anyone abt their sexuality. here it's like. yeah the aggressor is a skinny white dude n the victim is a fat black girl but surely the only reason he'd ever bully her is bc he has completely unrelated personal issues that he doesn't know how to handle. obviously there's no other reason he might be picking on her specifically, white guys would normally never do that.

But OMG I fuking hear you, like, Geralt is such a good omo victim??

- Geralt is a Witcher that had extra trials/experiments ye? Well, I can totally see that bringing some less than desirable side effects amongst the improvements that came with the trials. Namely being his bladder being significantly weaker compared to his Witcher brothers.

-That being said, he still has a strong bladder, compared to a human. However, he still has his limits, something he would rather pretend where not something that plagues him, especially during times of fights or other when around others who he isn’t acquainted with.

-Sometimes to the point where he will try to hold it beyond his limits. He’s rather good at hiding his now, urgent need; if you hadn’t known better you would just think he was just scowling over something that has made him miffed. 

-Being a Witcher, his biology is different compared to humans- his body can filter out his potions and other drinks fairly quickly (hence why he can drink things such as swallow and other things that would kill a human, his body is just, built different lol) Buuuut, that doesn’t fair well if he has drunken a good amount.

With his bladder now firm, all the previous days liquid sloshing around in tune with the rhythmic bouncing of Roach as they travel down the beaten path to the next village that was in need of aid for whatever monster has taken one of their owns. Geralt thinks of veering off the path and taking a leak 

However, he is now too close to the village and, as known, humans don’t always take too kindly to a Witcher prowling about without reasoning. So, he refrains, mainly to save himself from getting pelted with spit and vemonus words from the towns folks. 

-Anyways, he will hold it in until he physically cannot anymore if needed. This, sometimes being an awful idea (although, it is common for this dumbass to have bad ideas, we are talking about Geralt lmao) 

-That being a bad idea when he comes face to face with a monster- he’ll put all his focus in killing the growling creature that is mere inches away from his face. With all his might on his footing and sword placements, his bladder is placed to the side- and Geralt can feel the knawing ache through his focus and that, unfortunately is his downfall

The beast is slain, blood and vesera  coating his tunic as he is planted onto the ground, his breath ragged as he comes down from the adrenaline that is pumping through his veins. The victory is short lived as he feels something,,,,wet, warm and wet beneath the flooring. Urine is pooling around him, muddying the ground and soaking through his slacks.

He closes his eyes for a moment, relaxing his tensed muscles and just, lets his body go, knowing there was no use to even try to stumble his feet and find a tree, he was already soaked. 

-He isn’t too muffed when it comes to having accidents,,,when he’s by himself that is. When alone he can just, stop and find a lake and wash his clothing, take a break, pretend he can’t smell the acidic scent of piss lingering from his trousers 

-But, when others? Different story. He wants to be seen as a strong, lone wolf, not some mutant who can’t keep his pants dry! So, when he’s frozen in place, urine cascading down his thighs and splattering against the floor as others watch on in shock and perhaps some snickers. His emotions might be stunted but, in these moments, he can feel his ears burning and his chest tightening from the many eyes latched onto him and his predicament.

-Also, can totally see him as a bed wetter. This wolf has seen some SHIT and been through a lot in his 90+ years of living. And, many a times these fears and emotions show themselves through his sleeping time and, makes for many sodden sheets :o

(When he and Yen are together tho, she’s v sweet and makes sure her wolf is okay and cleaned up, ofc some light teasing but, just to help make light of the situation and to help take Geralt’s mind off what has happened  ;w; ) 

-ALSO also, all that armour he wears,,,that HAS to be hell to get off when he’s really got to go, just sayinggggg

but for actually elaborating: i think this is the post which also i love you for thinking about this for 2 weeks apparently? 

anyway injury discussion warning but, lightning strikes can cause spiral fractures in long bones, dislocations, nervous issues, heart damage i believe? and clearly scarring on the skin, etc. some people after the finale were apparently disappointed they didn’t end up killing mako-- something about completing his arc and being more interesting for korra and asami to come back and realize that happened, and for bolin to have to deal with that, but honestly that would’ve been... too depressing. i think if they would’ve shown the krew dealing with his recovery it would’ve been better than either what we got or mako dying 

i think one of the worst things when you’re waiting for someone to recover is when they do gain consciousness, but you’re not sure if they recognize you or not. i imagine this from bolin’s perspective, after dragging mako out of the mecha, delirious, hooked up to medical equipment bolin might never have seen before (the doctor or nurse explains bender-originated lightning strikes are usually short exposure, similar to natural strikes from the occasional bender fight or malfunction at the electrical factories, but this is different. they really dont know what might happen) 

korra and asami come when they can, and bolin has to explain to everyone what mako did. opal stays by bolin’s side but this kind of stress is not like anything mako let him be exposed to before (up till bolin serves under kuvira and has to escape that) so i think bolin is stressed and tired and probably a little mean about it 

idk who would be there but bolin and maybe opal, maybe asami are there when mako wakes up for the first time, but he’s intubated and can’t speak, and he doesn’t seem to recognize them. bolin tries encourage him to squeeze his hand, but there’s no reaction. the nurses come, and the visitors are ushered out. i know next to nothing about medical procedures or anything but i’m sure there’s tests and things for nerve/muscle/skin/bone damage they’d need to attend to once he’s conscious on some level ??? 

mako is in and out for the next week or two-- bolin by his side whenever he could be, and asking mako if he recognized people as they came to visit. wu comes at some point and makes sure mako and bolin and their family will be taken care of-- even if mako doesn’t recover well. No more having to rely on asami or anyone else. bolin absolutely snaps at him before wu has the chance to explain but he cuts the check nonetheless (as wu should tyvm) 

as soon as mako is coherent though he’s playing like there’s nothing wrong and bolin has nothing to worry about and bolin knows it’s not true, but it’s so easy to just believe mako like always. except mako really needs assistance and probably has to live with bolin or someone, but mako is always pushing to go back to work. i don’t think he’d be able to work until around the time of zhu li and varrick’s wedding? 

i think with all the efforts to fix republic city, and stabilize the earth kingdom, it would be difficult to balance everyone’s greater responsibilities with helping mako but really showing that struggle and how everyone reacts to mako’s near death experience would. be interesting. idk i’m really bad at concluding these things lately but yeah <3
