SO idk if they were just done dirty or something but anime satosugu (I haven’t read the manga) was SUCH a let down and tbh that’s partly my bad I have to stop trusting people’s comparisons cuz jeez. Hear me out on this one, okay?

Cloud is the cat that prefers the company of dogs.

While Zack is the dog that is desperate to play with the grumpy old cat.

This is why they are friends.

Like, Cloud doesn’t necessarily hate other cats he just would rather curl up with the dog, because it’s bigger than him and when everyone else is cold and grumpy, he’s got Zack.

And Zack loves everyone, which also means he is desperate for Cloud specifically to give him attention. He’s also desperate for Genesis and Sephiroth to give him attention too.

Angeals like the older dog that’s too old to be jumping around, but just lets Zack climb on his back for the sake of letting him ware himself out.

Gen is the cat that hates the fact that someone brought a puppy into the house, and spends most of his time winding the puppy up or hissing at it for existing in his space. How dare they bring this level of energy! Angeal he can deal with quite pleasantly, but this!?! Unmanageable!

Sephiroth is the cat tolerates the others being in his space but will ignore them for the most part. Him and Genesis have the most fights, and he and Angeal have an understanding.

He sometimes goads the puppy into provoking Genesis for fun.

Sephiroth is also weirdly obsessive over Cloud. Keeps him clean and steals him from Zack all the time. Cloud used to soak it up as a kitten but now gets irritated at being taken from Zack.

Sephiroth and Genesis have one singular bonding ritual and that is to knock things off of their owners (Lazard) desk.

(he needs him). thinking about how ed could never truly heal until he left blackbeard behind. thinking about how blackbeard is really two people, not one. thinking about how izzy tells stede in season 1, “it’s my job is to make sure that edward is content”. how it’s been his purpose from the very beginning to protect edward, to help him be blackbeard, to be his right hand man. thinking about izzy saying “I wanna go”. thinking about all the meta from season 1 about ed keeping izzy in episode four on purpose, because he still needed him. thinking about izzy telling ed that he’s ready. ed is ready. (and it’s not just ed. izzy is ready too. I want to go. ed, I’m ready. I don’t need you anymore. I don’t need blackbeard anymore. you can let go). thinking about izzy looking up, seeing ed’s face, and softly saying “there he is”. (when was the last time izzy truly saw ed and felt at peace with it? when was the last time he didn’t search for something darker underneath? how soft were there faces then? how young, how unscarred was their skin?). thinking about izzy telling stede that he thinks he’s good for ed, that it took him a long time but that he sees it now. (he trusts stede now. he trusts him to take care of his eddie. he couldn’t trust him before, couldn’t see it, but he knows now. he knows he’ll be okay with stede). thinking about izzy using his last words to tell ed that he’s loved, that he’s surrounded by family. (you’re safe now. you’ll be safe without me. you’ll be safe without blackbeard). thinking about how blackbeard has always been a form of protection, of defense - now unneeded. but blackbeard was always two people knitted together. two scrappy boys in a costume, like a prey animal fluffed up to twice it’s size. a skin that can’t be shed without splitting them both apart. stitches that can’t be undone without bleeding.

they’re both ready. they’re letting go.

Okay but I feel like Genesis would be such an inspiration for other omegas bc hes the first (and only??) Omega to make it to first class

yeah, i can definitely get behind that too! i think it’d be really sweet if he got to be that kind of inspiration for people!

as for other little omega genesis headcanons:

- i definitely feel like he’s the type to get super clingy around the time of his heats, but as soon as his heats are over he will deny that he ever acted that way…

- i feel like despite omega stereotyping of being oh so uwu helpless, he’s the one that generally takes charge, and he keeps up with his alpha counterparts, sometimes even needing to save and lead them! he’s a strong independent omega for the most part!

- even in romantic situations he will rarely let himself be outwardly submissive, even if his omega instincts will sometimes desperately try to make itself known, but there are always subtle signs; a certain amount of clinginess, stealing his partners clothes and using them to nest but doing it slowly over time so it’s hard to notice, just doing all the normal omega stuff but in the subtlest way possible and denying it if anyone asks!
