I am now at a level of obsession with Disco Elysium where I am watching at least a little bit of every playthrough I come across. Last time this happened was with Undertale almost a decade ago. With UT this helped me get a very thorough handle on the way the game was designed and with the subtler bits of player manipulation. DE is not subtle about anything and so instead I'm getting insights into the people playing it, particularly as it spreads beyond the youtube leftist bubble.

The one I'm having the most fun with right now is by this guy named Brady, who is a therapist specializing in addiction. The fun part is not so much his insight into Harry as an addict - again, the game is not subtle - but his absolute discomfort with politics. He refuses to engage with any of the ideological choices, and that makes the game a bit of a bumpy ride for him. It's particularly striking because he's willing to read into everything else that goes on in Harry's brain - he breaks out his Johari windows and his CBT flowcharts and pins the butterfly right to the corkboard - but he shuts down when the game asks him to pick a side.

To extrapolate wildly from one dude's hangups, I think this is just part of the deal with therapy. The aim of a therapist is to make the subject more functional (particularly these days, when if you're lucky insurance will pay for ten sessions, and you better document exactly what worksheets you made your patients fill out) - and being functional means being able to be happy and productive in the society you're currently living in. If I go to a therapist and say I'm bummed out about all the murdering my government is doing they will suggest I stop watching the news, or, if I'm lucky, they'll try to help me figure out why I feel guilt about things I can't control. Delving into the whys and hows of said murdering is actively counterproductive.

This is not to say that therapy is inherently bad, or, like, counterrevolutionary, because making you a more functional person does help with a lot of things, including your ability to help others. It's just a useful thing to keep in mind when therapy and politics bump into each other. I read this paper when I was googling ABA for podcast reasons and it stuck with me. The thesis boils down to: because the world is imperfect and people need skills to live in it we should continue to torture children, and we don't have enough research to conclude that torture could be traumatic. This is on one level reasonable and on one level insane. It depends where you stand, and whether you think "ability to express affection towards parents" is worth that kind of intervention. But the authors wouldn't construe this as a political argument.

Anyway: with all this in mind, I very much recommend reading "The Saint of Bright Doors", which we will be covering on wizards vs lesbians soon.

Here is my 2 cents on the subject , i really dont believe that they will ever get divorce , the only way I see this happening if she decides to leave and find someone who can actually pretend to love her but we all know she is too desperate to let him go, as for Jensen he got with her when she was at the peak of her trashiness her bitchy attitude, fighting with fans, naked in the movies , explicit sex scenes, her anger issues ( I actually believe the story that she nearly assaulted him at spn sets but giving how chill and laidback he is he probably was fine with it ) her fighting fans online etc.., I still remember that anniversary post she made when she praised him for being patient I mean he must be really patient to put up with a massive bitch like her especially back in the days , anyway my point is he not only stayed by her side but proceeded to insert her and her family in all of his business, buying properites together, having multiple children ( tho I believe he was completely blindsided with twins) , so while its obvious the Jensen is tired with her and he is running out of fucks to give and he is not up to play her games anymore but he is too afraid to leave and he probably thinks he should keep it together for the sake of children and public image, I really just hope he won't become miserable and lose himself while doing so

Thank you for the ask Anon. So I see you do not agree they will get divorced. I 100% do not agree with this sentiment for multiple reasons. The things you did mention are interesting however. When it comes to the said near assault on SPN along with other physical assault stories that are floating around (ex. the scar on his nose being from her throwing something at him), it is very possible a big reason why he drinks is to cope with her abuse. I don't think he is "just fine" with her behavior at all. Honestly I don't believe you understand that: A. Men are not the only abusers in relationships, women can be too and B. How people who are being abused tend to behave, particularly when they think they have no where else to go or think they need to stay with their partners especially "for the sake of the kids" like you said. He looks and acts like someone who is being brainwashed by this type of mindset and it's doing him or their kids absolutely no favors. I don't know what you think of this but him inserting her into his businesses is very possibly the exact opposite of what people think (pulling her more out of being married, not more into being married). Putting her in as an EP at Chaos Machines and as a business partner at FBBC (which some sources say she is actually no longer a listed owner of but would like verification on this) could be increasing her net worth, and therefore make it so she gets less money for alimony if she'd get any at all. As far as why he married her at her "peak trashiness", rumor has it that Jensen was medicated the day of his wedding. Rumor has it also that he tried to walk away on his wedding day but was stopped by his dad at least if not by 1 or 2 others. It's possible people behind closed doors have also stopped him from divorcing at least up to this point when he's contemplated it. Even talking about his wedding day being one of the best days ever "not for the reasons you're thinking" and talking about it being "a great party" was very telling.

Also, it seems he is starting to consolidate all of the real estate he owns as he not only sold the Colorado house in November 2022 but also the Austin condo listed on some of the CT house deed documents that someone voluntarily on their own accord sent me a link to via PM was put up for sale about 3 days ago. Are he and his family really moving out of Texas entirely? Is he looking to expand FBBC to another location in CT (or some other business venture) and therefore needs more liquid assets? Does he need more liquid assets in his so called "divorce researching" mindset he is in? Sometimes when people start selling more real estate while married like this, spouses can get stressed out because this means they may try to spend that money and therefore that money is gone before divorce. This is of course speculation on my part. However, I can certainly say that what you perceive as him tying him to her more in this sense is sometimes the exact opposite, him tying him to her more financially in order to be freed from her.

If anyone reading this believes numerology has any significance, I also would like to point out how interesting it is that a lot of the addresses that he's been moving to and buying up since it seems things started to go downhill for Danneel and Jensen in 2018 contain the number 11. Heck, even the Colorado house stopped being listed as of 11/11/2022! In numerology, the number 11 has a lot of spiritual significance as it's said to be a master number and is said to be associated with what some call "twin souls" and soulmates (read the link for more info as to how this could apply here). Weirdly enough, when I was doing research on numerology and the number 11 this at one point showed up from a site called legalreach.com: "A Rule 11 agreement is an agreement between a divorcing couple that outlines how they will handle the divorce process and any disputes that arise. In other words, it's like a prenup for the breakup! It defines who takes what, when assets will be divided, and who gets custody of the kids." Never heard of it before but it stuck out to me while I was doing this research...

Even though I cleared a good portion of this game nigh a year ago now, i still feel compelled to put it on my media diary now, as i've only just got around to finishing the game properly! I believe the point i dropped off the game before was at Pig City, which, i think , is kinda understandable given how big that level is, but, was probably a real bummer for the whole of my friend group who were super into the game when it was new and i probably missed out on talking about it alot with them... POOP!!!! just because this game is popular enough to actually warrant talking about it with my friends later, instead of saying stuff like how i enjoyed the silly cartoony art stlye and the games general charm, im just going to post a level tier list i made the second i beat the game at like near midnight kinda hazy-minded without thinking on it too hard without thinking too deeply in a way thatll be completely inflamitory bc im mostly satisfied with the experience i had and dont really feel the urge to P rank anything --

this is probably a tired opinion but since i was subjected to this movie for the fifth time in a voice call my take is thaat this is probably more enjoyablel then the safeass illumination film. like. yea. that films probably objectively better but. id rather watch something thats an actual adaptation. like this movie. where basically nothing mario happens outside names . yea thats right im reading books this ones actually pretty good apparently a 2020 bestseller though im not in the habit of reading those often so i'll just have to take their word for it on that aspect. i think lifes all about trying new things so around halfway through the month i picked up this cool book i found at my library and got a library card. After reading through it all, i think anecdotally that this book is a very neat read. theres a few sentences that're a little offputting to my young mind but overall the book is filled with alot of cool insight i reccomend checking out if youre the boooky type of person! i think its very good and im glad i picked it out :) i donnu how many of these will be going onto my media diary in the future or anything , but maybe i will if i end up reading more! castlevania rebirth is a really really cool game. its really cool and im not typing this as fresh as everything else because it was something i picked up for one big sitting earlier in the month. i probably couldve finished it at any point during the week, but simply was too distracted and wanted to do other stuff. It's very cool though, i love the vector sprite art, and there ARE silly stock sound effects everywhere, which is always a big positive for me . I mostly just like how snug the wii classic controller is , and this is a cool game to play it with considering its one of the only non virtual console or old game collection style games available for wii in this exact style ( Not counting the good handful of games that choose to use the wiimote on its side instead. )

over all ill probably sit down and finish this someday soon i just gotta like find time for it whenever next my wii u is plugged in ( it fights for an hdmi slot with my switch and ps4 all the time...! ), and ill probably end up trying to play punch out wii at the same time, given one doesnt dominate my attention over the other. could you please talk about wmmap's accusations of plagiarism? i read the document the author of the another webcomic and started feeling very uneasy and nervous. i also wonder of that was the reason why the side stories haven't been released yet...

I wasn't going to talk about this topic because I think it's really not worth addressing, but since you seem upset about it, I'll give you my opinion on this situation to... Well, I don't know if it will make you feel better, anon, but hopefully?

Anyways. TL;DR for anyone that has no clue what I'm talking about: Many years ago, the fans and the author of a certain novel (the controversy was over the novel, not the webcomic, but back then it was used to harass Spoon too) accused WMMAP's novel of plagiarizing said work. A fan wrote a list of similarities to "prove" that was the case, which have been posted again, now by the author. My opinion is that the similarities are so broad that you could find them in any webcomic. They are tropes, such as "cold emperor", "abandoned daughter", "loyal knight". You can't say either Plutus or that author invented them. If you think WMMAP is plagiarizing that certain novel, then many other series are also plagiarizing it (heck, there was drama over this with "I am the real one").

But the truth is not for me, or the authors, or the fans to decide. Who is the best person that could solve this matter? A judge. And it so happens that a judge has ruled over this subject. There was a whole lawsuit years ago over the harassment suffered by Spoon and about the plagiarism accusation, and it was declared that the accusations were false. The parties involved with spreading this misinformation publicly apologized and admitted to having made it all up (you can find posts about this on Spoon's Naver blog. They are super old, so I don't want to search for them, but I can if someone really wants them).

So, the author of that certain novel is lying when they say there has been no trial about this matter. Perhaps they are unaware, but I very much doubt it.

This is very old drama, I'm a little baffled the author decided to bring it up again. It's also of note that this is not the first time they accuse Plutus or other novel writers of plagiarizing their work. They have: accused Plutus of plagiarizing others' works, accused other unrelated writers of plagiarizing their work, and tried to imply Plutus was plagiarizing another novel because the protagonists have similar sounding nicknames. Funny, because there is another unrelated manhwa with a protagonist called Athanasia and nobody has ever accused them of copying Plutus.

I'm not trying to insult that certain author's character, but make of this information what you will.

Lastly, is this the reason the side stories have been delayed? I think it's not likely, at least not because of this incident specifically, because that certain author decided to post their accusations in response to someone telling them that WMMAP fans were slandering them (there are no pictures or evidence about this "slander"). You can find that much on their Twitter, I'd rather not link it here. I think they just wanted to talk about this topic yet again, as they are upset because WMMAP's company never reached out to them (why would they have to do that?).

However, I do think there's something legal going on, and perhaps it is related to these accusations in some fashion. It's impossible for me to say. Honestly? I wish that was the case so we could be done with this subject, because it has already been established by a Court of Law that WMMAP's novel was not plagiarizing the other party.

This was a very long post. I don't know if my answer helped to comfort you, anon. It could have upset you more, sorry if that's the case. Personally, I'm pretty done with this topic, and I think bringing attention to it will only be granting that certain author's wishes, so I won't talk about this anymore.

Worth noting that we're almost two weeks into 2024, and there are still two undetermined films on this year's Disney slate...

One of them is just simply "Untitled Disney", and it's set for release September 8, 2024...

The other is the annual Thanksgiving Walt Disney Animation Studios offering.

According to some screenshot of a supposed Disney movie/series slate that was floating around a month ago, Disney took both of these movies off the calendar... But I concluded, for multiple reasons, that that screenshot was fake. As it did not resemble the kind of PDF document that Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures usually puts out when there's a change in the release schedule. The formatting was all different, and it included Disney+ shows, which these things never do.

So, I rule that the 9/6/2024 release - whatever it may be - and the 11/27/2024 WDAS movie are still on the boards. At the moment... Of course, that's always subject to change!

Disney would've kicked this year off with the Pixar space adventure ELIO in March, but that got pushed all the way back to the summer of 2025... The year instead begins with theatrical releases of the three Pixar films that went straight to Disney+ on their initial release... So the year actually begins, in terms of a NEW theatrically-released movie, with a 20th Century Studios release: Horror reboot THE FIRST OMEN. April 5th.

And earlier today, they moved their new PLANET OF THE APES movie up two weeks, to avoid duking it out with FURIOSA and GARFIELD. Plus they can get all the large-format screens to themselves for a lil' bit.

Anyways, we're in 2024 now... And we know nothing about these two movies. I'm guessing 9/6/2024 is going to be another 20th Century Studios movie, or a Searchlight movie. Sometimes "Untitled Disney" is a placeholder for that kind of movie, and September's usually the time to release one of those kinds of lower budget, more adult-oriented movies.

But we know what's been happening with WDAS' latest pictures at the box office, and who knows what morale is like over there. They too are developing shows for Disney+, like Pixar was, until Iger recently mandated cuts to Pixar after Disney+ continued to lose money for the larger company... I'd imagine WDAS might be in a similar predicament? Maybe not? But it's unusual that we don't know for sure - as in, not through leaks or word thru the trenches - what the 2024 WDAS movie is. Even STRANGE WORLD, we knew about it a year away from release... They're kinda cutting it close with this one?

Unless WDAS takes 2024 off completely, for whatever reason. I figured the very possible animation strike would affect this movie anyways. But even without a strike, their recent woes might lead to a back-to-the-drawing-board moment, as often is the case when a studio has a string of money-losers. It often leads to a week or so of everyone wondering, "What should we be doing? What kinds of movies should we be making??" And then they try that, and they see how that goes...

Anyways, should all go swimmingly, I wouldn't mind seeing the new WDAS get delayed. Especially if it's still having its kinks ironed out. Also, kind of a wild opinion, but WDAS doesn't always have to do the Thanksgiving thing, ya know? STRANGE WORLD and WISH weren't saved by that slot, neither was something like TREASURE PLANET many moons ago. WDAS did do a March release with ZOOTOPIA in 2016, and almost did that again in 2018 (at one point GIGANTIC, at another point RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET) before abandoning it... Like, a WDAS movie doesn't always have to be the summer or the holiday season. Many other animated movies have proven that, too.

Heck, WDAS movies used to show up at the randomest times of the year. Before the world of blockbuster filmmaking, during a time when the movie theater industry was a whoooole lot different.

Did you know that SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, which had its world premiere on December 21, 1937, went into general release... In February of 1938? February. Yes, cold-ass February... And still managed to become, at the time of its release, the highest-grossing film of all time? (A record swiftly usurped by GONE WITH THE WIND a little over a year later.)

PINOCCHIO, CINDERELLA, and PETER PAN were February releases, too. DUMBO and THE JUNGLE BOOK came out near Halloween in their respective release years. BAMBI was a late August release. SLEEPING BEAUTY and 101 DALMATIANS came out in late January of their release years.

Summer slots became more of a regular thing for Disney starting with THE RESCUERS in 1977, which was a June release. THE FOX AND THE HOUND originally was eying Christmas 1980, but because of the Don Bluth-led animator exodus, ended up being a July 1981 release. THE BLACK CAULDRON, similarly, was out in July 1985. THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE? July 1986.

But then once the Renaissance fired up, it was initially all about Thanksgiving. OLIVER & COMPANY, LITTLE MERMAID, RESCUERS DOWN UNDER, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and ALADDIN all did the holiday thing...

When THE LION KING broke all records for an animated movie in summer 1994 - the June date given to it after production problems delayed it from its original Thanksgiving 1993 slot, then Disney was all about the summer again. Barring WINNIE THE POOH (2011), the last time WDAS had a summer movie was... 2002... LILO & STITCH. From BOLT-onwards, it was almost always towards the end of the year with their movies. Again, ZOOTOPIA an exception, RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON as well because of COVID-19 (it would've been Thanksgiving 2020 if nothing had happened).

Maybe it doesn't have to be Thanksgiving/Christmas all the time?

Suppose we see the new WDAS movie in, say, March 2025? And the next, maybe at another time of the year?

This is not magical girls, but regardless, gather around for a story time! Thing is, I really really like Hatsune Miku nendoroids. They are so cute! Every time I see one I get the need to get it for myself. However I don't particularly care for any single one, and it's more about wanting a whole bunch of them so they would look cute together as a set. And since I generally live pretty frugally, splurging on something like this every once a while wouldn't destroy my budget.

It's just... spending money on stuff like this just bothers me, like the figures are expensive, are they really worth it? Am I just excited for 10 minutes after the box arrives and then they'll just sit on the shelf collecting dust? Where will I even put them in the first place? I also don't like clutter. And I'm not a Miku fan, I have no relationship with Vocaloid and I've never even heard a single Miku song. So maybe it would just be better to save my money for something else and settle for looking at the pictures.

Then an unrelated issue. Everyone knows exercise is good for you, and also working from home for over two years has destroyed any sense of work ergonomics I may have had so not just sitting around all day even on my free time would be preferred. But I am not one of the people who enjoys any kind of sports or exercise so it's always a such a chore. I've tried to follow youtube workout videos, but that only lasts a few weeks at most, and after skipping one day for whatever reason it becomes very easy to skip more, and then it results in a months long break. I've thought about coming up with some kind of reward system like a video game daily login bonus, like seven workouts and I get to buy a snack! But I have no self control for that kind of purchases and would get my snack anyway so that would not work. The reward would have to be something I really want, but would never buy otherwise (by now you can see the plot threads of this post merging).

So! I made myself a little chart, and every workout gets me a sticker like some kind of children's "I shared my toys without fussing" behaviour chart, and once it's full I get to order a Miku figure. When I started the chart I wondered how many stickers I should set as a requirement for the goal in this battle between sloth and greed (too many is demoralising while too few is bad for the wallet), and I must say I underestimated greed. Sorry i'm inactive lately, i have uni assignments and i procrastinate on them by writing my own gameboy emulator in C (following image is rendered from a memory dump, but most of the instructions are already implemented, not their execution tho). I only attend programming class and the other one that will get me expelled real soon lmao. We've been procrastinating (together! with my friend, we're doing the laboratory works (more like practice class, we're learning the theory, talk about it with a teacher dude (this one is not actually a professor or anything), then do some shit with electronic equipment and write a report about it) in two-person groups. But i blame myself because i was suggesting to procrastinate quite frequently, even tho we both seem to have issues lmao) and probably won't finish the thing, which probably will let to us being kicked out (my friend knows the subject way better than me so he has more chances to stay tho) on the next exam retake (oct. 25th and oct. 26th. If i'll fail an exam there'll be another retake with a commission and if i fail it i'll get expelled). Yes, there're TWO classes where this shit happened, but the second one cares about the laboratory works way less so whatever.

I'm also in uni cuz to avoid conscription (bad starting location, won't name it cuz you'll hate me or something idk) and recently lost my chance to change gender marker in documents (bad starting location 2 electric boogaloo, they've banned transitioning and the trans diagnosis itself, which was a thing here), so i actually need to do something about conscription problem as i'm doing last bachelor's year and will either work in IT (which is my only way after uni tbh, all i can do is code and shitpost in my telegram channel, but it's not really reliable against army based on what i witnessed couple of days ago), or go to the next level of uni (google says it's called Master's Degree), which is a huge pain in the ass as i don't qualify (mostly mentally but i also don't know jack shit, and the IT ones cost like at least multiple grands of USD, which is a fuckton of money here, like a year worth of living or something) for any of the programs (i'm currently doing bachelor's in physics lmao). Still better than a year of being bald, a hole-digger and an alcoholic, but whatever. I'm also doing two (both are free) additional courses rn, one (python and ML) was obligatory because our uni needs funding, and another one (web: React and Django, and some economics) is from some financial company. And i sent a request for another one (microelectronics in a security company, i actually really want to work with access control systems, sounds funky), hopefully they'll take me in.

There're also mental health issues (you know, normal ones, but I'm not telling you what i've self-diagnosed with cuz it's not how one gets their diagnosis lol) i do not get diagnosed/fixed cuz i'm silly (shit's hard, i have to ride a bus to another city AND walk afterwards, bruh. Not even talking about deciding on going and making an appointment, and spending considerable amount of money too.), and they're not really helping with the situation lmao.

I've also started learning spanish (using duolingo, ankidroid and pokémon zafiro alfa) as i find it quite funny, and also my favorite light novel series' sequel (sukamoka) is completely translated to spanish but not english (i read it in machine translation from chinese but really want a proper one). I will also use it to flex on people who can't speak any language except their native one well (there're some people like this around me, and yes, english is not my native language, it probably shows cuz i try to speak funky sometimes and don't know actual punctuation rules).

Book of Shadows/Grimoire & Why I Have Several✨

What is a Book of Shadows/Grimoire?

A Book of Shadows or a Grimoire is a journal used to keep track of magical experiences, recipes and information that you encounter. Some people differentiate between the two, using a grimoire for documenting spells and recipes and a book of shadows for magical experiences.

Uses & Types:

These journals are not limited to spells of course. Some people have separate books for each subject, ie. one for tarot readings and another for deity work. Others prefer to keep everything together and choose to use a 3 ring binder instead of a regular notebook so they have the flexibility to add pages and rearrange notes. The important thing is that the book reflects the needs of the witch and works for them. What works for one person may not work for another so it is important to experiment and find the medium and method that you like.

My Preferred Method:

I utilize the “multi-book method” (if I can call it that) but instead of regular notebooks, my “books” are mostly digital spaces that I’ve dedicated to witchcraft.

First, I have what I call a “dump book”, which is the only paper notebook I use and in it I write down anything and everything. It has signs, dreams, tarot readings, sigils & more. There is no real organization or order to it and it provides a space for me to document things on the fly.

Next is my Pinterest board which I’m not sure if it can even be considered a Book of shadows but I’m including it anyways. I mostly use it for photos but it also contains any spells or tips that people have posted that I think are worth trying for myself. This space is mostly for inspiration and art.

Then comes my Notion page. This page is used to keep track of the books I’m reading and the topics I’m researching. It’s where I take notes on books and how I save websites that I want to revisit. This page also helps me ensure that I’m not accidentally overloading myself with topics and research material. This is also how I organize the information that I will later copy into my grimoire

Lastly, I have my online grimoire (which is written in my notes app) this is where all the information I learn gets recorded. Things like definitions or magical properties get recorded here as well as spells that I know are successful. This space is like the “good copy” of everything I gather and record. Having it online means that if I find new information later on I can add or edit to the notes that I’ve already created. I also like that I can include art/photos that I find or take in the notes.

watching my friend (who previously stated she respected people's pronouns and identity, and was a generally supportive and kind person) become slowly radicalized through instagram reels and becoming transphobic. fuck the algorithm. im not sure what to do. i send her info (im not rlly good at debating and making points) and try my best to dissect the video but she doesn't reply. i have a hard time making friends so its hard to distance myself. i also am bad at making points and arguing and finding sources.

i've also had people in my life radicalized online to various degrees, and yea, unfortunately, i don't think there is one set way to address that.

the problem is that the videos your friend is watching are confirming some sort of fear or anxiety they have about trans people, whether that fear is subconscious or not, and that is what is motivating them to interact with that kind of content as opposed to them actually wanting to learn about trans people/issues.

so when people are motivated only by having their biases confirmed, it doesn't matter how many facts you try to share with them. if they were concerned with that, they could very easily test their biases against mountains of documented, scientific information that is available to all of us at any given time of day (esp if your friend is a younger person and knows how to do basic internet research). at the end of the day we're all responsible for our own education, and i feel like if people purposefully avoid doing research on obviously controversial topics, it's for a reason; they want to keep believing the thing they believe (unless it's due to mental illness or something the person can't control, which is a whole 'nother rant).

they way i've dealt with it just depends on the person in question. for friends and acquaintances, it's usually too exhausting for me to have those kinds of people in my life who want to argue all the time and be cruel to minorities, so they just get cut out or put at an extreme distance (and if they ask why, i'm honest with them). if that's not an option for you my only advice is to make your beliefs very clear, and set boundaries as needed, like no political talk if this person is going to dehumanize trans people. or set a boundary for yourself, like if this person crosses this line, then i need to be done with them.

for family that this applies to, i just shut down all political conversations because they're pointless for the reasons i described above. i keep the lines of communication open as long as my own boundaries aren't crossed and am very vocal when they are. it's harder for me to cut them off for a lot of reasons, but mainly because i know i'm the only left-leaning person some of them even interact with and i guess i have this idea that if i can be a person they love who they know holds different beliefs, then maybe they'll connect the dots and realize that people who disagree with them can be worth knowing. and that they aren't the caricatures they've been fed by the conservative media.

anyway, this got way longer than intended sorry, it's a hard subject for sure. the tldr i guess would be: make your beliefs known, try to identify the emotional factor that's motivating their shitty behavior, and protect your own peace at all costs.

u seem like a reasonable person so i just want to put this out there re: the depp-heard trial

this trial being televised was requested by depp's legal team precisely to garner the reaction that it did. depp's team bought bots to drive the online conversation to be very biased (hence popular monikers such as amber t*rd abt an incident that has been thoroughly debunked). multiple legal experts (who are not grifters ie profiting from the agreeableness of their views) have commented on how irregular depp's legal team's strategy was — not only did they fail to really prove any financial damages, given depp lost major roles of his own volition, but they resorted to character assassination because this was more about PR for depp than winning the case. this became exceedingly clear to me when i watched one of amber's full cross examinations — the lawyer on the other end was exceedingly rude, cut her off at multiple points (when she asked a question!), and generally seemed like she was trying to get as many tiktok soundbites in as possible (which worked, i guess. lol). unlike heard's lawyers, depp's team also perpetuated harmful DV myths such as "why didn't she leave," "why didn't she document all her injuries," "why didn't she have darker bruising," "why did she buy her abuser gifts," "why didn't she tell anyone," and so on. (never mind that she did all the things we tell abuse victims to do!) heard is also the first person to ever provide televised sa testimony — which, btw, was immediately used as a tiktok sound by depp fangirls commenting on how they found it hot and would love to be on the receiving end of it.

I'ma be honest this is hard as fuck to read just because it's a giant text wall but I'm going to do my best to respond to each point individually.

First and foremost, I don't disagree that there was heavy media bias towards Depp. There were plenty of outlets in support of Heard as well, but generally speaking a lot of people were (and still are) on Depp's side. You have to remember that this is a defamation case, not a domestic violence case, which is why there was so much emphasis on PR. Depp (from what any of us understand) was falsely accused of abuse and took Heard to trial for defaming him, NOT for abusing him, even though that did become a big part of the case later on. I also don't see how the legal team of either of these people is a reflection of THEIR views, but I'll get back to that in a bit.

I should also state that there were people in the public sphere, both in defense of Depp and Heard, perpetuating myths about domestic violence, sexism, and blatant victim blaming. The mutual abuse argument is one I've seen used a lot in defense of Heard which is quite literally an abuse tactic, especially in response to reactive "abuse."

Also, mainstream media is a disease, I'm sorry. Both the pro-Depp and the pro-Heard ones, it doesn't matter, I hate any and all msm with a burning passion and comparing a distrust of it to a fucking far-right internet conspiracy cult is incredibly tone-deaf. The majority of news is just what the government WANTS us to hear and not what is actually going on, but I digress.

Lumping MRAs in with incels is equally tone-deaf and while I don't consider myself to be an MRA outright, I do follow a decent number of MRA blogs (some of which run by women!) who have been incredibly helpful to me as both a trans man and a male victim of abuse.

I also know from experience that situations like these are rarely one-sided. Got an email from my state senator in which he brags about sponsoring a bill to keep trans people from changing their birth certificates. As pointless as it is to try to talk to these people, I sent him a message anyway.

As a trans constituent of yours, I would urge you to reconsider your stance on this subject. To use the example from your email:

"I don’t believe a birth certificate is a living document. You can’t change your place of birth, so why should you be able to change your gender?"

If my place of birth was recorded incorrectly on my birth certificate, I would hope I would be allowed to change it so it was the proper information. Gender is the same thing. It's not that a person is necessarily *changing* their gender, but that they are *correcting* inaccurate information.

As a parent, I'm sure you are aware that when a baby is born, the doctor does not draw up a full genetic panel to view the child's chromosomal makeup before deciding that the baby is a boy or a girl. The doctor glances at the visible genitals and assigns the baby's sex based on what is considered typical for people sharing that configuration of external genitals.

Sometimes the doctor gets it wrong.

Even if doctors *did* perform all that testing and assign the sex based on the child's chromosomes, that *still* doesn't mean the person's gender would be recorded correctly, because gender exists in the brain. It involves how we interact with the world and how the world sees and treats us.

You say a birth certificate is not a living document, yet it is one of the most common documents utilized to verify identity. And other forms of ID—such as driver’s license and passport—base their information off of the sex marker on the birth certificate. If I am still expected to produce my birth certificate for identification as a 45-year-old adult, then it needs to accurately reflect my existence as a 45-year-old adult.

Honestly, I would be in favor of no longer recording sex or gender on the birth certificate. It’s not vital information and, if the number of laws being proposed to limit changes is anything to go by, it’s often not accurate information, so what is the point? And if it *is* considered accurate often enough to be worth putting on there, then perhaps there aren’t enough cases where it’s needing changed that laws should be passed to prevent it.

Either way, your stance on this—record it and force it to be static, accurate or not—is harmful and counterproductive and I would urge you again to reconsider.

Amani's Die-ary (day 1)

September 4

I can't believe it's been two months since I started working here. To celebrate Tanya gave me a diary. She said that keeping diaries helps with the stress of working here. LORD let me tell you something the stress is worth actual health benefits. It wasn't as bad as when I worked at Plow's, the people may dress weird here but at least they weren't racist. Except for the boss's eldest, she gave me the stank eye the other day when I told her her daddy was in a meeting and can't talk to her that moment. I do not like that girl at all. In fact I don't think anyways around here does her very name sets off literal alarms.

Since I already had a bunch of journals at home I was worried about the extra clutter. My dreams were getting more frequent, and I often wrote them down to try to understand them. But I accepted the gift anyways. It won't hurt to have one just more book and I didn't want to be rude. Tanya's only known me for a short while and yet she's been more friendly to me than some of my ex coworkers from Plow's whom I knew for years. Even if she had a head of a bull and bright pink suits.

The cover was a gorgeous shade of green with gold glittery patterns and a face of a skull. It looked rather cute like Hello Kitty, even had a bow on its head. The pen she gave me was also the same color. "Thank you, where you get it from?" I asked.

"I got it on sale at Moles! I think you might like it seeing you like to write," Tanya said.

I have never heard of Moles before. Must be where everyone gets their silly outfits from. But it was true I did like to write in fact I write everything down because as useful technology is there's just something so pleasing about handwriting. Plus it helped to remember things when the systems shut down unexpectedly. Which were also repeat occurrences. After I thanked Tanya we went our separate ways and I got into my cubicle to start on my work.

Work was boring. You have to sit through a bunch of documents of potential clients, their personal tastes and rooms and all that good stuff that hurt my mind trying to list it all. There were times we almost got scammed us out of the more expensive items but they never go through with it. As well as securing orders, analyzing each item to make sure they weren't fake. Meeting clients were a special sort of hell as half of them couldn't even tell a kimono from a basic bathrobe. So sad and so racist.

As I stared at the screen I began to tap my new pen on the desk. Perhaps I should try out my new journal to pass the time. The first page had instructions to fill out the blanks. They were fairly simple:

Today was shot #20 - marking my fifth month on testosterone!

Things went pretty well today; I think I'm getting faster overall at the process. From initial prep/sanitization to cleanup, it took just a bit over ten minutes, which is down from...upwards of twenty-five minutes, usually.

Things have become more comfortable and routine overall, which is definitely a positive. I'm also officially out of my first supply of needles and syringes as of today. I've got plenty of syringes from my second supply/refill, but only a month's worth of needles, so I'll be calling the pharmacy to check on availability either this week or next.

(The pharmacists reassured me that it's very common for people to call and inquire about needle supply due to the nationwide shortage, but I still feel weird about calling repeatedly about this; I need to get over that particular hangup, I suppose...)

The injection itself went fine, and I had eggs afterward to keep my stomach from becoming grumpy. Like last week, I shifted the injection site a bit forward/inward on the thigh to the top / thigh pad, and again was surprised at how little I felt the needle go in. It's somewhat tender and sore now, but only after being nudged or a fair amount of movement on my part, and that's how last week's went on the opposite leg. If things track the same way, I expect it'll start itching later tonight and into tomorrow, but that's also more or less routine now~

There isn't much to report on the front of noticed changes; one huge positive is that my voice seems to possibly still be deepening (??) but I'm not fully sure on whether that's actually true. All I can say for sure is that it's getting more difficult for me to be heard at normal speaking volume - which either means that my pitch is dropping into more-difficult-to-hear-registers or that the person with whom I speak most often is losing their hearing - which might be possible due to age/possible illness/etc. Time will definitely be the tell for this one.

I think that I'm still experiencing the hair growth/rearrangement, but I don't feel the same itchiness as what seemed to signal it before. That might just mean that my skin is getting more "used to" the sensation of coarser hair growth, though, maybe? My facial hair growth areas still tend to itch, though, so maybe that's not all that sound a theory. When I see the nurse practitioner next month, I'll ask them about it and see what they say (if there's any documentation of that sort).

I'm feeling a bit of frustration and indecision over the length of my hair - on the one hand, I really want to try a shorter style (to try and "pass" more easily, if possible) - but on the other, I've worn my hair long for as long as I can remember, and it feels strange to consider chopping most of it off. (I've worn it shorter than usual for quite a while now, but it's grown back to shoulder-length and I need to cut it down shorter again...)

There's also a mild feeling of frustration at society in general for the long-hair-equals-female/feminine thing, and part of that does admittedly stem from my love of long hair REGARDLESS of sex or gender or presentation. Ideally, I wish people could present themselves however feels most comfortable to them and not be subject to presumption, but that's a pretty big ask - and I do realize that, too.

But I can dream.~
