I wish people would stop caring about the canon pairings and marriages in Naruto/Boruto because they should have absolutely no relevance for SNS shippers in terms of validating said ship. Those who say we are delusional because “Well, Naruto married Hinata so she is THE one he loves!” (I'll focus more on Naruto's marriage here... Is Sasuke's even a marriage?) simply don’t get that it just doesn't really matter who Naruto and Sasuke married because that in no way diminishes their feelings for each other. The main plot of the series revolves around the bond between Naruto and Sasuke. It is their story. They are each other's most important people and this was established back in Land of Waves arc even before the dramatic events that take place on the bridge - the whole point of that very first arc was making this a fact right from the beginning, because the story has always been and was always supposed to be about the two of them and the profound love and understanding that grows between them ever since they exchanged glances, smiles and pouts as lonely little broken kids. No reason to list all proof of their feelings and bond here, it has been done extensively, and if somebody watched the show/read the manga and missed it, they are missing half a brain. That these boys love each other more than anyone else is absolutely obvious.

So what about the canon pairings? Kishimoto stated time and time again that his focus was never romance, and that is not because he can't write romance as we know it (he clearly did), but it’s a matter of concept: what HE considers romance is the attraction that unites people with the purpose of marriage (confessing your romantic love for japanese people is the same as saying you want to be in a relationship, because feelings shouldn’t be voiced without an intention), and that, to him, is NOT the greatest expression of love, nor does it represent the most special bond two people can share.

It is understandable that westerners put so much weight into marriage because we consider it the epitome of love. Well, the truth is marriage in Japanese culture is mainly the only socially admissible means to have children and has very little to do with romantic love. In fact, in Japanese literature, it is much more common for unmarried couples to love each other than married ones. Obviously, there is no absolute truth when it comes to feelings and human relationships, what I'm doing here is generalising social norms and expectations (not exposing my opinion on them - that would turn this rant into something else entirely). A large number of Japanese marriages are loveless (and arranged, but no point getting into that either) and what motivates choosing a spouse is their ability to fulfill familial duties, meaning: is the woman good mother and consequently wife material? Is she going to devote her life to taking care of her children, house and husband, the noblest of acts for a female? Is the man willing and capable of putting his occupation above everything else, working extremely hard and for long hours, with total dedication and diligence for his job, to the point of not even seeing his family most of the time, as an honorable man should do as a provider? That's what makes a GOOD married couple: two people following their expected and strict gender-roles in a nuclear child-centered family (again, please, this is not MY opinion!). What a Japanese man should want in a woman is for her to be a dedicated housewife and mother, since having children outside of marriage is not only frowned upon, it is not acceptable at all, and not being married with children is not respectable enough (same with being divorced). Marriage is, therefore, NOT a symbol of undying love and a deep and special connection between two people, rather, it’s a partnership established with the goal of having and raising children.

In conclusion: the pairings were, in fact, created for the sole purpose of bringing forth the next generation, and that was made CANONICALLY true. Would it have been better if they hadn’t gone down that "safe" route? Hell, yeah! It would have been fucking amazing and could even have been groundbraking, for several reasons. BUT as unsatisfying as it may be, the fact is they chose a very TRADITIONAL depiction of marriage that has little to do with feelings, and that in itself shouldn’t be taken lightly, since it leaves the strongest bond, which is grounded on genuine love, untouched. In this scenario, justifying romantic love through marriage alone won’t cut it, and trying to discredit the obvious unmatched connection and feelings between two characters because they never got married to each other or married someone else is ludicrous. Yeah, a married couple can love each other deeply and above anyone else, but that is just not what marriage is ABOUT in Japanese culture and definitely not what Kishimoto wanted us to believe was the case here after dedicating 699 chapters to a story about the special bond between two boys that didn’t culminate in marriage. 

You know what IS a symbol of romantic love in Japan? Being willing to die together when the love you feel goes against your moral obligations, holding on to the belief that you will be reunited in the afterlife, where you will be free of any burden and able to love freely.

Oh, some bonus info: We also tend to associate sex with romantic love. Well, Japanese married couples with children rarely have sex, if at all. After a woman becomes a mother, she is no longer considered sexually desirable and becomes a mother figure to her husband as well (what happened to Hinata’s big "attributes" in Boruto? Huh). This is especially true when couples sleep in separate rooms and the mother shares a bed with her children. (Hinata co-sleeps with Himawari and we know Naruto sleeps in a separate room. Well, I don't know how to react to this ask, Anon. Because, I don't know whether you are from Japan or you have a very close Japanese friend who might've told you all these cultural thing about marriage and relationships.

So, what I am going to do is to analyze from the facts you have provided , combine with my own cultural relevance and provide my answer. If there is any Japanese readers who are reading this, you can confirm or dispel this by sending me an ask. But again, I don't want exceptional case like, 'No, my family is different'. I want to know about the general lifestyle of a common citizen and their married life.

That's why I was envious of Western people in this aspect, because they have a freedom to choose their own partner without any time constraints and when they do, their marriage can be said to be 'The Epitome of Love'.

My parents marriage is also an arranged one. And whenever they have disagreement and that leads to verbal war, they let out this words, 'I'm here with you because of my 2 daughters otherwise I would've left you long back'. So... Yeah. Here, most of the marriages are child-centered. Again, it's not just my opinion. Majority of the arranged marriage based family revolve around their child.

And I was born, a year after my parents' marriage, and If I hadn't been born, then people will question my parent's fertility factor and start to discriminate them. So, I can boldly claim that, I was not born out of Love or something. I was born because of social obligations.

"Katsuki, you disgrace!" Mitsuki slapped her son across the face. "If you weren't so goddamn weak, maybe those villains wouldn't have kidnapped you!"

He stayed quite, tears of anger and frustration filled his eyes as he started to consider the fact that it was his fault after all.

It was a while back the LOV had kidnapped him, but his mother still brought it up, reminding him of everything that had happened.

He grabbed his bag off the floor and went straight to school. He didn't bother fixing his hair or his uniform. He entered the building, quickly going to his classroom to sit at his desk.

He didn't even realize that he was late at that point, his mother keeping him longer in the house caused time to pass faster.

"Bakugo, you are late!" Iida shouted.

"Good for me." Bakugo replied, rolling his eyes at his classmate and sitting down.

Aizawa didn't say anything, he remained quite, before continuing his homeroom lecture.

About a week before, Mitsuki had decided that her son was no longer allowed to stay in the UA Alliances, which meant he had to go home every day after school. It's not what he wanted, but his mother was using it as punishment for being such a "failure" as she says.

At the same time the boy wanted class to end so he could leave, but also not wanting it to so he didn't have to go home.

Some time had passed and the bell rang. They had training on Ground Beta, but ever since Bakugo had been going home more often, his mom found more reasons to hurt him, physically and verbally, meaning he had a lot of bruises on his body.

His new hero costume was doing him a favor though. The hero department added long sleeves to the shirt since the weather was getting colder, but Bakugo saw this as an advantage in more ways than what it was for.

He went to the locker rooms and changed in a corner, looking at the marks, scratches and bruises she had left.

"Hey Katsuki!" His boyfriend, Eijiro Kirishima approached.

"Oh, hey Dumb Hair." He replied, quickly getting his hero suit on.

"Um, where those bruises I saw?" Kirishima asked

'Fuck' he thought to himself.

"Probably not, I mean I do get them sometimes from training." He replied, lying.

"Oh, alright then," Kirishima wasn't sure if he believed him or not, but he brushed it off.

"Anyway, we should totally team up if we're going to be choosing teams today!"

Bakugo smiled slightly, "Sure."

Kirishima kissed his cheek and went outside.

He soon joined his classmates outside and stood there, waiting for Aizawa and Allmight to tell them what to do.

"Everyone, choose a partner as you will all be fighting against each other. I will go through the rules in a moment." Aizawa shouted out.

It didn't take long for the following teams to form,

All teams ran off into different directions, as Bakugo and Kirishima ran together in their own. They soon found themselves in a small opening surrounded by some tress and bushes.

"Let's crush these extras" Bakugo hissed out.

"Wait, Katsuki..." Kirishima stopped.

Bakugo turned back to him, an eyebrow raised.

"Are you... Sure those bruises are from... Training?" He asked nervously.

"Tch, of course they are, what do you think they'd be from?"

"I don't know, you've got a lot and you've been acting strange lately, and suddenly you're not staying in the dorms anymore? You know you can tell me anything, right?"

Bakugo didn't know how to answer, hesitating whether he should tell his boyfriend the truth or not.

"Really, I'm fine."

"If you say so..." Kirishima looked and sounded disappointed, still sure that he wasn't being honest.

"Just know that-" He was cut off as a huge ice barrier appeared in front of them.

Bakugo threw and explosion towards it, him and Kirishima running back to the front of the base to get a clearer vision.

Iida came charging towards them with Todoroki behind him. Kirishima and Iida started blocking each other with their quirks, as Bakugo went to throw an explosion at Todoroki to get the net around him.

Instead, Todoroki used his fire side and accidentally brunt of some of Bakugo's shirt.

"Asshole!" Bakugo shouted out, throwing more explosions his way.

Aizawa looked shocked at the sight of Bakugo's bruises, knowing for himself that those aren't normal. He let the fight go on, and decided to confront him after.

The fight went on until the half an hour limit.

1st place came Midoriya and Uraraka

2nd place came Kirishima and Bakugo

And 3rd place came Iida and Todoroki

Bakugo wasn't pleased by not being in first place, but surprisingly accepted second place anyway.

As they all went back to the locker rooms, he did best to cover his arms by whatever fabric he had left of his sleeves, or by using his hands, though it wasn't enough.

Just as he was about to enter, Aizawa stopped him and pulled him into the classroom.

"Bakugo, can you please explain those bruises to me?" Aizawa asked, pointing towards his arms.

"From training, duh."

Aizawa sighed, "listen kid, I know they're not from training. Is someone hurting you?"

"Of course not, they're all from training."

Aizawa looked at him in the eyes, his glare demanding the truth.

"For fucks sake! The old hag hits me, okay? Is that what the hell you wanted to hear?" Bakugo lashed out at his teacher. "She abuses me..."

"I knew it." Aizawa mumbled. He took a deep breath before speaking again. "I've had my suspicions for a while, after seeing her slap you a few times, but I wasn't sure whether it was to the actual abuse point or not." He sighed again, "You know, I don't mind taking the responsibility as your guardian for a little while. Either if it's permenant or not. I understand you probably wouldn't want that, but as your teacher I couldn't allow you to go back there."

Bakugo looked at him for a few moments, tearing up. "Anything's better than there... Thank you, Sensei."

Aizawa smiled at him. "You're welcome kid."

A few hours later he took Bakugo to his house which was on UA campus. Eri, who was also under Aizawa's care was playing with Hizashi, who is Aizawa's fiance.

He pulled Mic to the side as he spoke to him about Bakugo's situation, as Bakugo sat down next to Eri.

"B-bakugo? What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I might stay with you guys for a little while... If that's okay with you..."

Eri smiled and cheered. Even though she didn't know Bakugo very well, she was glad to have another person in their family.

Aizawa and Mic turned over to the two kids. Bakugo wasn't ready to consider them as parents or anything, more to the guardian point, but he was just greatful not to have to be in his old household anymore.

"Sensei, what about my mom? And the court?"

"Don't worry about that, I'll sort everything out."

Bakugo now had his own room in the Alliances, and Aizawa's and Mic's house, so he had a choice where he wanted to stay daily.

It was a little awkward for them at start, but in a few weeks time they all felt really connected to each other.

Family really doesn't require blood, after all.

LOL hi Anon! I actually did a future kids headcanon a long time ago, which you can find here, but several of my opinions have changed since then so that’s super out of date. So yes, of course I’ll tell you about what I think now! I’m just gonna do Peddie and Fabina kids, but lmk if you want any more.

Fabian and Nina’s child:

- Okay, so I’ve only recently warmed up to the idea of these two ever getting back together, and honestly I much prefer them as an angsty love that burned out too quickly ship.

- HOWEVER, I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility that they got together again later on by chance. But no I don’t think Fabian sought her out or scoured the earth for her like I think a lot of other people do. That feels kind of pathetic to me honestly.

- So their kids? I think Nina had a child out of wedlock with someone else before they found each other again. The first child Fabian ends up helping to raise isn’t his.

- I headcanon that child’s name being Sarah Elizabeth Martin (later changed to Rutter), going mostly by Eliza.

- (This is similar to my original headcanon, but different backstory)

- She surprisingly looks a lot like Fabian despite her not being his. (Nina had a type clearly). She’s freckled, pale, average height, kind of scrappy, with dark brown hair and green eyes. Eliza grew up mostly taking care of herself—not that Fabian was a bad dad; he was just a busy dad. Besides, Eliza is a strong, capable girl; always was. She’s a little goofy and awkward, and she doesn’t have a long attention span.

- Despite her not being his, Fabian loves her anyway.

- Life is dangerous for the Chosen One, her partner, and their child since Nina’s constantly having to break curses or find artifacts— you know, because she’s unfortunately at the gods’ and spirits’ beck and call.

- However, she and Fabian do find time to have a second child— together this time. A boy.

- His name is Berend Martin Rutter (shoutout if you understand the reference), and he’s every bit his father: quiet, bookish, and brave. He follows his older half-sister around like a puppy, but isn’t afraid to stand up for himself either.

Patricia and Eddie’s kids:

- For a while I had them as identical twin boys, but I kind of like the idea of them not being identical, but still a set of twins: a boy and a girl: Lucy and Max (bonus points if you get the reference).

- They are carbon copies of their parents appearance wise and it’s a little scary.

- Max is older by like five minutes, and he’s a total jerk about it all his life. However, he actually takes after his aunt quite a bit in the sense that he’s very into music.

- In fact, he’s something of a prodigy. Nothing like his Auntie Piper, but certainly very, very good.

- Lucy is a total jock like her parents. She excels at pretty much any sport you put her in, but she’s particularly fond of football— the British kind, to Eddie’s dismay.

- She’s also very headstrong like her mother. As soon as she’s at school, she dyes her entire head pink. And the colors are constantly changing. She makes Patricia very proud.

- They actually end up at Anubis House once they’re old enough, since Eric was able to pull a few strings to get them in cheap.

- Trudy is delighted by them. Truly.

I think I saw you reblog some Iidaocha (Tenya Iida/Ochako Uraraka) art a little while ago and it just so happens to be my OTP. So, mind sharing some reasons to ship Iidaocha with the rest of your followers and get this ship the respect it deserves?

I'm not really a hardcore IidaOcha shipper so forgive me if I don't have a lot of reasons but

- nerd and sweet partner trope

- strong shortie and supportive buff nerd. She practically decimates Bakugou in training and Iida's on the sidelines cheering loudly. He loves his strong girlfriend!!!

- they'd be really good at encouraging each other. they already are!

- rich partner x broke partner. that dynamic is full of sweet moments, learning each other's lifestyle and comedy too

- gym dates (because ocha wants to get stronger and save money, so she uses UA's facilities as much as possible. iida doesn't mind at all) but also fancy dinner dates (at iida's insistance because he loves treating his girlfriend and watching her marvel over the food and restaurant)

- iida doesn't mind the gym dates but when they first started dating he was like "don't dates usually include candle lit dinners and steak and violins?" and he still goes along with her because he loves how pumped she gets (also she can really overdo it sometimes so he tries to steer her in the right direction)

- I would say maybe the money aspect BUT I also feel like Iida would try and pay for things sometimes and she'd be like "no I'm gonna pay for it with my own money!!😤" so he wholeheartedly encourages her in her work and studying and yes she'll let him pay for necessary things that are needed immediately (and the odd date where he takes her some place fancy "because you deserve it!"). She always gives him a big kiss after that and Iida's pretty much No Thoughts Head Empty for the rest of the night after those days

- of course they go on park dates and stuff like that, but 1a find it funny that some days they will come back in gym clothes, sweaty and ready to collapse, and others they will come back in fancy clothes and cute blushes. The duality

- comedy couple. both are sweet, but also ridiculous. if you read their texts, more often than not you will see ones with !!! and !!!!! in them, because they love each other so much

- ocha is >:D and iida is B□

- height difference!! hell yeah!! ochako having to lean up to kiss him! iida having to bend down to kiss her! lovely

- glasses stuff. ocha can be found, sometimes, wearing his glasses. she's just being goofy but iida keeps sighing and telling her to take them off or she'll mess up her eyes. she then ends up propping the glasses up on her head, which pushes her hair back and makes her look goofy but also pretty and iida can't stop looking at her

- oh and also, glasses smooches. usually its fine but sometimes iida's glasses will steam up from kissing or ochako bumps into them, and sometimes the glasses end up half falling off his face. ocha asked once if he'd consider wearing his contacts outside of work and iida said he'd probably feel out of sorts wearing them, saying he doesn't mind them but really prefers glasses. still, he keeps the contacts in one day and ochako REALLY CAN'T STOP LOOKING AT HIM and his pretty eyes. he looks very handsome and she can't help but squeal when he looks at her

Vile is actually versatile, but Mevolent isn't really into bottoming.

Mevolent doesn't have a submissive bone in his body. He's the Brat Tamer sort of dom - he prefers cheeky, stubborn, feisty partners who'll act out and give him a power struggle but ultimately melt for him.

With...pretty much anyone else, Vile would actually be the dom. He is what Mevolent affectionately refers to as "a handful", which is probably the understatement of the century, and at the start of their relationship it's an all-out battle for control - they have the kind of sex that's half a fight, they overturn furniture, they leave marks, they draw blood.

But at one point, Vile was Skulduggery, and Skug was versatile with very obvious subby tendencies, so there's a little residual part of Vile that's very into dom!Mevolent. Over time, as they build trust and get closer, he gets more comfortable ultimately letting that part win out. Not that he makes it easy most of the time - he's fiery, he likes making Mevolent overpower him because the power struggle is half the fun, and he's still terrible for trying to top from the bottom, but he does settle down from "genuinely determined to dom Mevolent" to more just...being a brat for shits and giggles.

How long can they go?

There is a definite difference lmfao. Mevolent likes younger men. Vile is like four or five centuries younger than he is, and his last sexual partner - Serpine - is also around Vile's age. So unless Mevolent tires Vile out before getting off himself, Vile will be raring to go again long before poor Mev is done recovering.

Sexual fantasies?

Mevolent is pretty into the idea of corrupting heroic resistance leader Skulduggery into changing sides to fight for him (via sex rather than torture). He doesn't look too closely at this one, doesn't look at it at all tbh beyond "corruption kink is hot", but there's a part of him that actually feels responsible for all of Vile's trauma - he sent Serpine after Skulduggery in the first place, he authorised the torture and the eventual execution...when Vile has night terrors and wakes up lashing out and panicking, he feels like he caused that. He lowkey loves the idea that they could've ended up together under different, happier circumstances. He knows Vile well enough to keep this particular fantasy to himself, though: Vile's past is a touchy subject.

In the same vein, "naive inexperienced temple-born Vile" hits all of Mevolent's religious/virginity kink buttons. With the added bonus that Vile will actually indulge him on this one occasionally.

Any sexual fantasies/kinks they’re ashamed of?

So, Mevolent is religious and deeply so, which means he is essentially a ball of guilt and religious hangups, but he's also not Eliza Scorn levels of devout, meaning he'll commit certain sins and then feel bad about them later. This entire relationship is a huge source of internal conflict for him. On the one hand, he loves Vile. Vile makes him happy, is cuddly in the mornings, and gives fantastic head. On the other, Vile is a heretic. Long-term committed relationship aside, even sleeping with a heretic is taboo - are you truly devoted to the gods if you're willing to sully your body, their vessel when they return to this world, by rutting with heathens? And while most of his inner circle - who also commit sins of varying degrees of severity - are willing to turn a blind eye to his choice of paramour, and while he ultimately considers the relationship worth the guilt and the anxiety, sometimes he thinks about what will happen to him - the punishment he'll receive - when the Faceless Ones return and feels sick inside.

Vile will get off on Mevolent manhandling/overpowering him, and then feel kind of weird and dirty and dissociated afterwards. He drops hard, and sometimes he wants to be left alone and other times he gets as close as he can and it's still not enough, he wants to crawl inside Mev's skin with him and maybe then he'll feel like he really exists. He doesn't have the emotional awareness to realise that he's using Mevolent - someone he trusts not to hurt him - to try and take his agency back by recreating how he felt when Serpine was torturing him, but with a different outcome (where feeling helpless/exposed/vulnerable etc leads to pleasure and praise and being taken care of by someone who loves him, instead of, you know, agony and death). All he really knows is that he gets off on it at the time and then feels guilty about it after. They both need therapy, but Mevolent knows him well enough to be pretty good at aftercare.

Are they loud/vocal, or do they stay quiet?

Vile makes being quiet into an artform, but Mevolent takes that as a challenge. He can get little gasps and moans out of Vile if he puts his mind to it, but he really has to work for them.

Mevolent is? Normal levels of loud, usually, but he keeps it down as much as possible while they're fucking around in secret.

Favourite position?

They actually agree on this one - riding/Vile-on-top. Mevolent gets to lay back and let his much younger lover do most of the work, he has a great view, he can touch as much as he likes, he gets to watch Vile fall apart. Vile gets to be in control and tease and drag it out as long as he likes, and when he's done in and keels over, he can chill out on Mev's chest until he gets his breath back.

Clothes off or on during sex?

Vile prefers either clothes on or lights off. He very much enjoys looking at Mevolent naked, but he doesn't like being looked at himself. He used to be very pretty and he knew it, but now when he looks at himself in the mirror all he can see is his scars, a canvas painted by Serpine. Underneath the fake body is even worse - unlike Skug, Vile's been using necromancy to pretend he isn't a bag of bones for the past couple centuries; he hasn't actually processed it at all.

Mevolent on the other hand is a clothes off, lights on person. Even during their mostly-clothed up-against-the-wall angry hookups, he'll be tugging Vile's collar out of the way to get at skin; neck or chest or collarbone. He doesn't give a rat's ass about the scars, he has plenty of his own.

They mostly compromise with candlelight or a fire in the grate. Soft, low light hides a multitude of sins, which makes Vile more comfortable, and turns his hair to burnished copper, which Mevolent loves.

Do they like to cuddle after sex?

They do! It takes a while for them to figure that out - at first they hook up and then Vile gets dressed and leaves and that's how they like it. Serpine was very much desperate for any scrap of affection from Mevolent, so it's a refreshing change to have someone who's after the same thing as Mevolent - a quick fuck with no emotions or strings attached.

But eventually they start spending longer together, lazing and talking or dozing in between going at it like rabbits, and they realise that? It's nice to hold and be held, to pet and be pet without the expectation of it going anywhere. Vile has freckles and Mevolent likes making patterns out of them (he's adamant he's found the Faceless circles/his own crest on Vile's ass cheek), and Mevolent will doze off to Vile idly stroking up and down his spine. Vile likes having his hair played with. Mevolent likes to prop his cheek on Vile's head to read. They become a pretty cuddly couple tbh.

Do they like having sex outside of the bedroom? If yes, where?

Mevolent's throne is a favourite, after the throne room has cleared out. Usually it's Vile getting in his lap after all his audiences are done and the throne room has cleared out. Occasionally, if he's feeling particularly sentimental, Mevolent will let Vile try the throne out and go down on him while he's sitting in it, his own version of all the sorcerers who bend the knee to him. It's his way of pointing out his feelings - pretty much everyone in the world kneels to Mevolent, but he only kneels to two things: his gods, and his lover. They're not great at expressing their feelings, so giving Vile that power trip is one of the ways he says I love you.

Once they're able to be together publicly, Mevolent's favourite is getting Vile alone on a balcony or in an empty hallway behind some columns somewhere for a fumble during a party - anywhere he can get the thrill of "we might get caught" with the certainty that they probably won't. He likes the thought that they might be seen, but he also knows he needs to mind his reputation, so he prefers knowing that the chances are very small.

Are they affectionate during sex?

When it's the sappy romo kind, they are; they're worldbreakers in the eyes of most, but to each other they're just Mevolent and Vile, they're like any other couple. They laugh and bicker and make out and leave possessive little marks on each other and playfight. No one looking at them would think of either of them being capable of that kind of softness. Vile also has a praise kink like woah so Mevolent lavishes him with it. But when they're really going at it it's all teeth and nails and they leave the cuddliness for later.

How do I feel about this character?

My girl.  I love Sumia so much, she is one of my absolute favorite characters in Awakening and one I will never pass up an opportunity to write.  I love her and how passionate she is about books, how deeply invested she gets in the stories and characters and how she uses them both as an escape from her own life (where she can’t help but dwell on her own shortcomings) and as a source of inspiration and courage.  There’s something intensely relatable about wanting an escape like that, feeling outclassed or useless and getting lost in a book as a way to cope -- and yet she’s so capable, even if she doesn’t recognize it herself.  She seems so used to people looking down on her or criticizing what she does or making fun of her slip-ups that she’s started to really believe all of it, when the reality is that her mistakes have never been her defining trait: seeing her learn to embrace her own skills and talents is so heartwarming and I find myself constantly rooting for her to succeed in everything.

Who do I ship this character with romantically?

Sully!!  Sully and Sumia is one of my favorite ships in all of Awakening, honestly: I love these two ladies who are so gung-ho about horses and bond over that mutual interest and I love the idea of them getting together and learning more about each other, bolstering one another’s confidence (Sully reassuring Sumia that she’s more capable than she thinks and offering to train her if it would make her feel more assured, Sumia insisting that Sully doesn’t need to be girly to be a woman and gushing about how she admires the cavalier) and falling for one another in the process.  It’s just really warm and I love it a lot, and given how encouraging they are in their supports, I really think they’d be a fantastic match for each other.

Also, I do love her with Chrom, and I feel like she’d be an encouraging influence for him, doing what she can to give him confidence and help him keep moving forward in spite of the obstacles; she’s such a bright and refreshing character and I think they could end up working really well together, leveraging their individual strengths to make the halidom a better place.  And I really enjoy her with Robin, too, considering how they bond over their mutual love of books, and I think Robin would be one of those people who really can see her for who she is, rather than the klutz she sees herself as.  It’s especially good when it’s both of them together with her though (yes I love my OT3).

Who is my brOTP for this character?

Robin and Sully, when I’m not shipping them!  Their relationships are so strong and they’re founded on such deep rooted friendship that even when I have them in other relationships, those bonds remain.  Also, even though she doesn’t have any supports with him in the game (which is criminal), I love the idea of a Sumia and Kellam friendship.  Kellam is someone who struggles to be noticed, Sumia’s someone who often seems to wish she could disappear.  The idea of them coming together and overcoming their obstacles together is really heartwarming to me.

What’s my Unpopular Opinion™ about this character?

She’s so much more capable than fandom wants to give her credit for.  Most people seem to write her off as stupid, passing over her as a brainless klutz in favor of the “genius” Cordelia -- but this is such a disservice to Sumia and her character.  She’s a fantastic fighter if given the chance, outrunning and outmaneuvering enemies, and while the game loves to play her off as comic relief, she’s a character with interesting, thoughtful support conversations whose life clearly doesn’t revolve around getting a man’s attention.  She’s her own person with hopes and dreams, hobbies and interests, unique skills and charming quirks, and bothering to get to know her really allows her to shine.

And personally, I don’t think she’s actually that clumsy.  Sure, she can be a little scatterbrained sometimes, but even the smartest and most capable people can be; when she has too many things to juggle she slips up in comic ways, but when push comes to shove she’s incredibly capable; if she weren’t, she never would have been able to rescue Chrom at the Longfort (sometimes I think people forget that she’s the one who swept in and got him clear of the javelins).

(And for a bonus unpopular opinion: I hate Cordelia and Sumia as a ship.  Cordelia is so mean to Sumia in their supports, banning Sumia from telling her flower fortunes because she personally doesn’t see value in them -- she doesn’t even bother trying to understand what Sumia’s doing or why, she just decides that her own way is the only right way, which is not how friends should act; putting them in a relationship is out of the question for me.)

What’s one thing I wish would have happened with this character in canon?

Why does she have so few supports?  It’s not fair that she can so easily end up alone because the game limits her options so much; aside from Chrom, she has the fewest marriage options, but unlike him she doesn’t have an auto-marriage after a certain point.  It’s not fair that the game treated her that way, and I wish canon had given her more supports, platonic and romantic both.  Again, seeing her with Kellam would have been incredible, and I really wish they’d bothered to give her a support chain with Maribelle, too, considering how Maribelle treats her early on; it would have been amazing to see them work things out.

How do I feel about this character?

I have never played Fates.  I know about these games purely through fandom osmosis.  And yet I will say, in no uncertain terms, that Takumi is my absolute favorite Fates character. Fallen Takumi is still one of my very few units at +10 merges in Heroes because I love him that much.  And it’s kind of hilarious how it came to this because it’s kind of Heroes’ fault that I’m in this situation. 

I remember when the game first launched how much of a pain he was in the early Arena before Skill Inheritance was a thing, and how the only reliable counter I had for him was Hector because I’d never gotten Takumi myself.  And then one day he randomly showed up in a summon, and I was so excited I ran off to train him immediately...and realized as I did that this guy has some massive self-esteem problems.  It’s what got me interested in him in the first place, enough to do some digging in the wikis, and I kind of fell in love with his character: he’s smart, he’s capable, but he has a massive inferiority complex since he’s grown up in the shadow of his older brother -- something Corrin’s return manages to make worse, since everyone kind of loses their minds over it and pushes him down and away despite the fact that he’s the only one being sensible and questioning whether they can really trust Corrin after they were brought up in Nohr.  While he has an attitude problem that needs to be addressed (though it’s nowhere near as bad as Felix’s), he can get better and gain confidence in himself and his abilities...but in Conquest, his fate is an absolutely tragic one, where his self-doubt and anger allow Anankos a foothold, something to prey upon, and ultimately lead to his loss of control, loss of self, and loss of life.  His story just really hits me in the heart, kind of like Lyon, and I just want to see him grow and overcome his doubts. 

Who do I ship this character with romantically?

Okay so this is probably where my not having played the game is going to bite me but I have no idea. There are so many characters in Fates and I don’t even know half of them.  I know Leo is a popular partner for him but I’ve never really seen the chemistry there so I can’t say that’s for me; I could always cheat and say I ship him with happiness because honestly that is true, I really do want him to be happy first and foremost, but I don’t have an actual character answer whoops.

Who is my brOTP for this character?

Azura.  I love the idea of the two of them coming together as friends, both haunted and hounded by nightmares and terrible thoughts they can’t seem to shake, and finding ways to support one another through it.  I get the feeling that Takumi might have treated Azura with some distrust early on, but despite the fact that she came from Nohr, I honestly think they could have ended up having a close bond in Hoshido growing up as they struggle with their own problems, and it would have been amazing to see them come together to overcome them.  Also, I love the idea of him and Sakura being close as siblings, with Takumi protecting Sakura and helping draw attention off her when she’s feeling especially shy while she tries to encourage him and give him a place where he can relax with and get away from all his issues for a little while, someone he can enjoy himself with and not have to think about his problems.

What’s my Unpopular Opinion™ about this character?

I actually don’t know what kind of popular opinions there are about Takumi so I have no idea what kind of unpopular opinion I could have.  Honestly I don’t see anywhere near enough to Takumi in general since he seems to be eclipsed by not only his older brother but the Nohrian royals in fandom-wide popularity; is it an unpopular opinion to want more people to give him a chance, rather than writing him off as just an angry nay-sayer?  Because honestly, he is the only one with any sense, since he’s the only one who thinks to distrust Corrin when they return.

What’s one thing I wish would have happened with this character in canon?

Okay so this is really really niche but I really wish they’d made Takumi Corrin’s half-brother rather than just a step-brother.  It honestly would have made so much sense?  Takumi’s the only other character who has the same kind of pale hair that Corrin canonically does, even if it’s not the exact same shade, so if that came from Mikoto it would fit perfectly with not only Corrin’s and Takumi’s hair color, but Sakura’s hair being that super pale pink compared to Hinoka’s vibrant red, which is what you’d probably expect from Ikona and Sumeragi after Ryoma inherited his father’s very dark hair.  I get the feeling they didn’t do it because they wanted to make all the royals available as romance options, which is both cheap and gross (and after what they did with Azura in Revelations it’s worse), but I think it would have been a really interesting plot element if they’d taken the time.

Jack didn’t quite know how he’d ended up in this situation.

He’d just been drawing, something he did quite a lot, like normal, and he wasn’t planning on stopping just on account of Crutchie coming up to the Penthouse, but his friend took one look over his shoulder at the drawing and rolled his eyes and said something Jack definitely wasn’t expecting.

“Jack, my friend, my best friend, my brother, are ya ever gonna get your head out of your sketches and into real life so you can ask Davey out?”

Jack almost dropped his pencil off the fire escape.

“...what?”

Crutchie’s sarcastic smirk dropped, “You’re kiddin’ me.”

“I’m kiddin’ you ‘bout what? What the hell, Crutchie?”

“Oh. My. God. You really don’t know.”

“Know what? Davey and I ain’t a thing!”

Crutchie groaned again, “That’s the point! I knew you was oblivious, but I didn’t know you were this... You and Davey ain’t a thing, but you should be!”

“I don’t—“

“Jack. Look at what you was just drawin’.”

Jack looked at his drawing. It was of Davey, a picture he’d been carrying in his head since that afternoon of him laughing at a joke Race told.

“So what?” he asked, “I draw all of our friends!”

Crutchie rolled his eyes, “Yeah, but Davey most of all. Are you just noticin’ now?”

Truth be told, Jack was just noticing now. He just drew whatever he felt like drawing on nights when he wasn’t too tired.

Sometimes that was Buttons dancing with a broom in Jacobi’s and the look on Elmer’s face as he watched. Sometimes it was Katherine and Sarah standing together, smiles soft in a way reserved only for each other. Sometimes Jojo and Mike letting go of the fear someone would notice long enough to let themselves stand together in the line for papes. Sometimes Albert and Smalls smirking as they talked and watched Finch and Sniper having a slingshot contest.

Jack liked drawing his friends at their happiest. He liked immortalizing these little moments of light in a world where they seemed far and few between, compared to the darkness.

And if he happened to draw Davey a lot, that was because Davey’s smile was like light itself, and he wanted to remember that things like that could exist.

“So what?” he asked, “That don’t mean we should be a thing.”

“Are you forgetting how yesterday you spent half an hour ramblin’ to me ‘bout how he helped ya put the littles to bed?”

“Well, nobody else helps me in this damn house.”

“Yes, they do. Or, they would, if you’d let ‘em. Buttons, Race, and me have all volunteered to take shifts watchin’ the younger ones. Ya always say no. You’s been takin’ care of everyone for years and it’s tricked ya into thinkin’ ya can’t accept help. But you said yes to Davey just for a bit longer hangin’ out with him.”

Jack really wished he could deny that.

“Hell, even if ya didn’t say yes, he’d make you let him help, anyway. Davey don’t take your shit. That’s just a fact.”

“Ain’t relationships supposed to be ‘bout... I dunno, not fightin’?”

Crutchie shrugged, “You’s got plenty of people who don’t fight ya, Jack, and you never take a break when we ask nicely. If fightin’s what it takes to make you relax a little, Davey’s exactly what you need.”

Jack shook his head, “What do you know, Crutchie? You’s never been in love.”

“True, but I’s seen enough of our friends fall into it to know what it looks like. Hell, for some reason, a fair amount of ‘em seem to think it’s a good idea to ask me for romantic advice, so I probably know more than you.”

“I was with Kath and you ain’t ever had a girl or a fella!”

“How’d that work out again?”

“She’s queer, Crutch! That wasn’t my fault!”

Crutchie gave him a pointed ask, “If it ain’t love between you and Davey, what is it?”

Jack tried to come up with a word for it. What was between him and Davey was different than his other friendships—he knew that—but that didn’t make it love.

Davey pacified the always-raging instinct Jack had to keep his friends close, to keep them safe and happy, to keep away anything that could possibly threaten them. He quieted the fear that Jack wouldn’t be able to protect them. In fact, Jack trusted him to help protect them.

Davey was so smart he could weaponize it and as stubborn as Jack himself. He refused to let Jack manipulate him to stand behind him, always standing with him, in front of everyone else Jack was protecting.

And yes, Davey needed to lean on him some days, but Jack had found himself leaning on Davey some days, too. He had never let himself do that with anyone before.

This was trust. It was a fight they somehow both always won. It was...

“Holy shit, I’m completely in love with him.”

Crutchie laughed, “I know. I saw how whipped ya were from day one.”

“And ya didn’t tell me?”

“I thought you knew.”

Jack usually prided himself on being able to read his friends accurately. To see relationships coming before they happened, to see who was soft with a crush, who had awkwardness left over from misread signals, even who was hurting over someone and who they were hurting over.

Apparently, his romance radar did not extend to himself.

God, he hadn’t even thought about how he’d never been able to even remotely see Davey with anyone.

“It’s kinda late tonight,” Crutchie reasoned, “But tomorrow, you two should talk. Definitely.”

Davey looked kind of confused when Jack asked to talk alone, but they hung back in an alley after grabbing their papes instead of immediately going to their normal selling spot.

“What’s this about, Jackie? What’s up?”

Jack took a deep breath. Now or never.

“Do you have a thing for me, Davey?”

Davey froze, “What?”

“A thing,” Jack said, “Like, you wanna court. That kind of thing.”

Davey’s confused expression vanished into calm. He took a deep breath before he nodded.

“Holy shit,” Jack whispered.

In hindsight, that probably wasn’t the right response.

“Look, I get that this is... complicated. If you want another selling partner, I bet I can get Crutchie to let me—“

“No,” Jack said quickly, “No, I... I like you, too, Davey. I like ya so much. I didn’t realize until Crutchie pointed it out to me last night, but... God, Davey, even if I didn’t see it, there ain’t been a day since we met that I ain’t been chasin’ you.”

okay finneeee I GUESS i'll answer that (thank u for asking 💙)

first of all, alice doesn’t tend to comply with social expectations for monogamy. for one, she’s not big on committed relationships unless she’s really committed to the person or people. she’s demiromantic meaning she only feels romantic attraction to people once she’s already built a strong connection with them. so because of that alice isn’t getting into many romantic relationships in the first place simply because she doesn’t allow herself to open up like that to all that many people. that being said, she’s quite chill when it comes to being with people, it’s not a big deal for her until it becomes one (aka when the actual romantic feelings develop). she’s not big on monogamy and is fine with being in open relationships, she’ll be the third if a couple wants to experiment, things along those lines.

on the isle, alice has sort of an interesting kind of omnipresent vibe i feel, she doesn’t make a lot of drama or ever really bring attention to herself if she doesn’t have to and she can go pretty much anywhere for the most part. this means she has a lot more access than the people who stick within their factions. 

in general when it comes to alice being in romantic relationships, alice tends to be in either an open relationship (not being sexually exclusive) or a polyamorous relationship (where in some way or another there are feelings involved for more than one person). she rarely does complete exclusivity with one person, simply because that’s just not her vibe. that being said if her partner felt strongly about being committed to each other exclusively then alice would take it into consideration.

alice is kind of iffy on marriage, obviously her parents weren’t married and they probably hate each other so she has no idea what a healthy marriage looks like cause she doesn’t actually see one until she’s in her twenties. but i think if alice really loved someone and they wanted to get married she’d be okay to get married. alice is more of a life partner(s) type person, just cause of her ethical non-monogamy vibes. the concept of marriage is also kind of weird for alice once she comes over from the isle because she’s a princess and will likely inherit the throne of arendelle one day. so to alice the concept of being married in a traditional sense scares her because she’s not a traditionalist, but there’s something obviously very traditional about becoming queen that she feels like she’d mess up. ya know?

now, onto how other people probably view alice’s non-monogamy. first of all, alice doesn’t care what people think unless there’s an outstanding reason for her to care. (like she kind of cares about what arendelle’s populous thinks of her.) alice probably has a bit of a reputation on the isle for her non-monogamy. if it’s in character for your muse to slut shame her/make a comment about her flings/relationships ect, go ahead. i won’t stop you. all is fair game. alice doesn’t always make an effort to hide what she gets up to so people probably, definetly know.

Pet antics. They share a morbid sense of humor about the plague that anyone else who lived in Vesuvia at the time would find abhorrent. They have different limits on it and know where each other’s is.

You’re gonna limit Lucio to one sentence? Lucio? He’s gotta talk about how smart Skylar is, how good he looks, his talent in magic, his thoughtfulness. Lucio’s favorite words for Skylar are, in order, “Pretty, precious, perfect.”

“Should I start with his eccentricities or…? He’s loud, brash. More cunning than people give him credit for. Lucio makes a point of complimenting however Skylar looks, but it’s a rare day Lucio doesn’t praise Skylar’s intellect and dedication to his work.

Skylar’s go-to descriptor for Lucio is “handsome”. His favorite (non-extensive) list of things to compliment Lucio on are: how hard he tries, how brave he is, his confidence, how passionate he is when it comes to the things he cares about.

They each compliment each other’s ass at least ten times per day.

In modern verse they binge watch bad reality tv. Lucio will put up with being outside when it snows only because Skylar likes outdoor winter activities and only because Lucio knows he’s gonna get some hardcore snuggle time at the end of it.

Lucio’s are gift giving (showing) and words of affirmation (receiving). Skylar’s is quality time. Physical touch is mandatory for both of them.

Skylar couldn’t have had a better introduction to Lucio: Julian had brought Skylar to Vesuvia for the menagerie, and Skylar and Lucio immediately clicked over their shared love of animals. Lucio truly has a unique personality and Skylar was excited to meet a new kind of person. Add on Julian’s endorsement of the Count and it’s no small wonder Skylar wound up staying in Vesuvia long past when he would have left anywhere else.

9. Have they made each other cry?

Yes. Mostly via mutual vulnerability and happiness. Then the plague happened.

Lucio’s Lucio-isms getting out of hand, or Salsa destroying something of Lucio’s. He can’t get mad at his fur babies so Skylar gets to take the brunt of it. Their biggest arguments happened over the coliseum and how to deal with the outbreak of the plague.

Before Lucio’s death Skylar didn’t invest himself enough in Vesuvian politics to give a concrete answer in that area. Insofar as Lucio’s views of being in a position of power? Yes they absolutely have different opinions.

I was originally going to say “nothing”, then I remembered Lucio has one. So Skylar’s currently sitting at a “nothing” with an asterisk of “unless I remember something”.

Lucio’s is being around Skylar when Skylar’s sick. Lucio has a phobia of catching whatever’s going around after the plague and has to nope out of situations where he’s around illness. That being said he is hyper aware of Skylar’s health, as after leaving Vesuvia Skylar becomes more prone to colds and flues.

14. What would be a dealbreaker?

Skylar's dealbreaker almost happened, which is someone's wants getting in the way of / actively opposing another's needs. Lucio's would be unfaithfulness.

15. What are traits they dislike in one another?

Nothing they outright dislike, but they do recognize the faults the other perceives in themselves and help them improve in that regard. For Skylar it’s his non-confrontational nature getting his needs and wants ignored. For Lucio it’s empathizing with others and taking responsibility for, and dealing with, the consequences of his actions.

16. If they broke up, what would be their opinions of each other?

How dare you.

Never in anyone’s life would Lucio have expected to get an attachment to the smell of books yet here he is. The same goes for hot chocolate. Skylar walks into the makeup department and it’s just like walking past Lucio’s collection.

This isn’t in the marriage vows because they have the awareness to go “if we say half the things we feel in front of anybody, concerns we are not equipped to address in an acceptable way will be raised.” After the ceremony, when they’re on their own, this exchange happens:

Lucio: “Love me. Until we’ve been dead so long our bones are dust.” Skylar: “Not good enough. It’ll have to be until the world is ash.”

Similar ones to what’s above. Trauma-induced codependency reinforced by magic ritual body trading meta sure is something.

For the better: by helping one another with the issues listed in question fifteen. For the worse: they gain a lot of codependence for stated meta reasons, along with a very deep-seated fear of losing each other again.

In the end they do leave Vesuvia. Ultimately they are going the route of “this is a very important lesson we’ve learned about responsibility and the consequences of our actions. Now let’s get the fuck out of the city we’re responsible for and one of us nearly ruined with his actions.” They acknowledge the hypocrisy of this, and while in the end they’re better off outside Vesuvia it is there.

22. If their lives were what was originally intended at birth, would they have still fallen in love?

Because I’m a sucker for them the answer’s yes. They only hit the love stage to begin with because Lucio was able to put the work into unlearning and breaking the cycle of the worst parts of his tribe’s culture. I will say though that Lucio staying with the tribe would make it vastly more difficult for them to meet. Skylar still does his traveling, as his parents didn’t have any major expectations beyond “well-functioning adult” when raising him, but considering how infamous the warring tribes of the south are I don’t see travel into the steppes being easy or recommended.

Along with Lucio getting snippy with him for Salsa mauling his good shirts, Skylar’s had to forgive Lucio for a lot. Mostly it’s Lucio-isms that make things get blown out of proportion. Then there’s the Coliseum. And Lucio’s deals. And the plague.

Birdflash Teacher AU

NOTE: I live in UK so I know nothing about the American school system

The Physical Education teacher in the school where Physics teacher, Wally West, has left at the end of the previous academic year so Wally was prepared to find a new hire on the first day of the new term.

What he wasn’t prepared for was to walk into the staff room to find a literal angel shaking hands with Jason Todd, the English Literature teacher, with the brightest smile he had ever seen in his life.

When the mystery man turned to face him, Wally nearly combusted at the sight of a petite tanned young man with the fluffiest black hair and completely captivating blue eyes greeted him, bouncing on his heels and everything.

(“Hey there, I’m Dick Grayson. The new PE teacher.”

“H-hi I-I’m Wally. Physics. And occasionally Chemistry. It’s nice to meet you”

“Likewise,” Dick replied with a grin that made his eyes glow brighter)

It only took one and a half days for the entire school to absolutely adore the new addition to the teaching staff - even the biggest troublemakers would greet him politely when they saw him passing.

But it only took one and a half hours for Wally to be completely and utterly smitten with him.

Dick took to teaching like a fish to water: he was able to memorise his students' names on the first lesson (and what a feat that was), he was kind, funny and was clearly genuinely interested in the kids.

And Wally, being the lovesick idiot gentleman he is, offered to show him around the campus.

Whilst they were walking around, the two men started to get to know each other really well, trading stories and facts about themselves and it was only till the end of their tour that Wally realised that Dick already knew everything about the school.

And Wally attends every sports competition that Dick applies to.

One time Wally entered the gymnasium to meet Dick at the end of the period to find him doing all sorts of acrobatics and gymnastics that the human body should not be capable of.

(“He-ey, wha-what’s going on here?”

Dick leaped from his handstand on the uneven parallel bars, did a few mid-air flips and landed right on his feet in front of the gaping redhead

“Oh, I promised my students that I’d show them a few moves. I guess I got a bit carried away.”

The sight of Dick’s slightly flushed face only made his own furious blush grow darker)

The teachers immediately realised that (*Ms Potts from Beauty and the Beast voice*) there may be something there. 

Most of them try to get them together

(“Hey Dick, two of my students were fighting during class today so I need to oversee their detention. Any chance you could do Cafeteria duty today. I swear I’ll do yours tomorrow.”

“Sure thing, Roy. I hope your partner isn’t too disappointed.”

“I think Wally would prefer your company over mine to be honest.”)

Even the students start shipping them.

I just want to point out that Dick would just be an awesome teacher: he spends the mornings before class as well as breaks playing soccer or basketball with the students, he goes above and beyond because he can see greatness and potential in everyone and if anyone acts up he sits them down later and just speaks with them in a very respectful way, he’s always enthusiastic and helps all of the departments as much as he can. Oh and his office stationery and furniture are all elephant themed.

So Sports Day happens. No one was more pumped up than Dick Grayson. He’s spent weeks - weeks - getting ready. He’s bought face paint, helped the kids make banners for the different houses, and has even purchased air horns.

And Wally just looks at this beautiful man just cheering himself hoarse, laughing until his face goes red and clapping until his hands sting and just knows that this is the guy that he wants to be with.

So when Dick announces that the teachers will be taking part in races, he immediately offers to partner up for the three legged race.

They win and Dick gives him a congratulatory hug and wow - his hugs are amazing.

And after the festivities, Wally is helping Dick clear up and shyly asks him out. Dick accepts.

One thing led to another and they become a couple

The entire school finds out within a week.

Bets were won and lost. High fives were given.

Two years later, when both men come back from winter break wearing matching rings, well, you can imagine the chaos

So in my school, we have a senior prank day where the leaving students in Year 13 get one day where they get to prank every teacher without any repercussions as long as they don’t go too far (and boy do I have stories) so I imagine that Dick is like the teacher that helps them by doing work on the inside. (like staying late one day so that the entire class can sneak into the staff room and use the printer to print out pictures of Nick Cage to replace photographs with)

One year in my school they made a poster that shipped two male teachers in my school and pasted them all around the sixth form building, that was done to Dick and Wally.
