im here to yap about poppy x imelda (what i was put on this good planet to do) what do you think each of them finds the most attractive about the other? physically, emotionally & personality wise? i have my theories but i would LOOOOOVE to know yours <3

imelda x poppy headcanons - 3

Prolly a tw for graphic physical descriptions. Nothing sexual, just: scars, injures, and other things I think was logical for them to have.

To place it somewhere right away: my mc Julia's scar plays well in what Imaboutta share.

Physical:

Poppy looks… innocuous enough to suspect she has a very firm grip, a good amount of stamina, that she is very hard to tire down with long walks or other activities, not to mention Poppy has permanent skin discolourations, scars and other signs of working with beasts and creatures, plants and Herbology miscellanea. For Imelda, Poppy therefore is a reminder and a validation; a girl can look not just how she likes but also wear scars as a part of herself, a honeysuckle history mark left on her skin she shouldn't be afraid of. Imelda's quest for validation originates from the more conventionally or, no, another word: contemporary thinking people. To them, she somehow must look conventionally attractive and have no physical defect to herself. Otherwise, she's less… seen, less heard of, because people can't bear the thought of people being anything more than an embodiment of the whatever thing someone else has declared the beauty standard.

Anyone who deliberately abandons the idea of following the mob has her utmost attention. They're not living in the times when an open wear, however, but Hogwarts doesn't accommodate muggles. In Potions and Herbology students are encouraged to roll the sleeves up and doff robes; in Charms and DADA students get their clothing destroyed all the time; nobody remains in the day clothes at dorms. Yet, Imelda has side-eyes for how her arms look like, for example, and same goes to Poppy.

Imelda, as a Quidditch player, a chaser, has a sturdy build and she has her share of signs for once broken bones and skin torn open.

But she doesn't have quite the muscle mass; it is rather detrimental for Quidditch players to gain lots of it nor specifically train to acquire it, as they have to manoeuvre in the air and part of it lies in how they feel their own centre of mass, besides, the broom has its own not capacity but mind, if you will. Like on a horse, any change in mass of its rider will have it acclimatised for a while, even if it's short, it's still time. Which means, Quidditch players usually aren't deliberately shaping their bodies to a certain physique -- a detail often forgotten by the a-little-too-much aroused Quidditch public.

To Poppy it looks like Quidditch players are seemingly unaffected by the fulsome, if not downright filthy remarks. Poppy seeks this confidence about one's appearance, and Imelda seems a good teacher in how to let these comments slide. They can wear clothes with however much coverage they like but at the end of the day, nasty pieces of work with unsavoury made-up observations never shut up about how does one looks beneath it all -- nor they care for how much it starts to weigh on the mind with all these thoughts of "will she say anything after seeing that ugly mole?" or "how large that awful belly roll will grow, I need to change the diet" or "they're too big, no too small, no they're just atrociously looking pair" or -- you get the idea and it only get worse over time.

Their perception of each other creates a silly contrast of Imelda seeking something she thinks Poppy has while Poppy is all eyes for something Imelda simply must possess, and while they're at it, they don't realise they create these qualities to themselves by just admiring each other in a respectful -- and consensual -- manner.

I'll say, they thought a compliment or a validation like this absolutely couldn't sweep someone like her. THEY WERE VERY WRONG.

Sillies.

Emotionally:

They're both introverted, collected individuals but to each their own, passionate about things and respectful of each other needs in space and privacy. Imelda can be hot-heated, however, and Poppy can act surprisingly cold, it could lead to conflicts but would only last until they learnt why were they acting like that sometimes.

Imelda is open and feels free to tell what she thinks, but she may not necessarily mean anything, well, mean. That's how she was raised and although social interaction with poshhhh Slytherins had sanded her edges crudely, left places of her mind that splinter people on accident, she tries to work on it; which doesn't mean she will abandon being a little bit abrasive or brash.

She aims to be the person who says 'bitch' [affectionate] and if it'll irk people funnily, prompting their curiosity, she'll feel content.

Poppy, reserved and thoughtful, but also quite insightful, gradually helped her on her little quest on how to remain an outspoken girl. Because, well, one of the rare few quirks Poppy adopted from her parents was to be intimidatingly straightforward yet teasingly spleen with words.

Don't underestimate Poppy's sass, she has some wild lines in the game files, look, LONG LIVE THE QUEEN🤧🤧🤧:

There are so many things I'd rather do with my time.

Fight like you mean it or don't fight at all.

I shan't cower to you.

(laughs) Is this the first time you've held a wand?

May I suggest we not be here?

Oh goody. Undesirables.

Imelda has a thing for sassy people. She finds them similar to her and therefore she is sure they're able to tell when she's just herself and when she's actually mean anything other than what she wants to say.

Also, the House dynamics mention: idk who decided badgers are harmless, they quite literally eat snakes. Can not to mention that eagles can be as fierce and just chop off snake's head.

To conclude all this, their personalities are harmonious.

They are conversing, speaking, sharing things, all the time; problems and issues are never hidden and the fangs are never out; they've something -- or an illusion of it -- they crave to have, but it's not there, but instead of sighing and moving on, they grow into who they aspired to be or what they desired to have to themselves.

Their relationship is mutually beneficial I'll say; they're also very, mmmm, not clingy but affectionate people, cuddly, too.

Better together -- it's them.

I've only the weirdest choices for the ship songs, but that one is also a choice for the narrative I sort of want each ship I have to adjust to.

It's a conversation. It's a deep yearning for connection and is only satiated after they start talking only to realise that feeling isn't going anywhere, that its magical fires aren't to be snuffed out; that it is the basis of the relationship, on so many levels, and something I might even call Fantasy for how rare I see of people doing just that -- talk.

Do you think Emma and Hank would have any potential as a couple? Emma doesn’t seem put off by Hank’s appearance(s), and she is sapiosexual

"Emma? Oh, good lord, no. Quite apart from anything else, I have to think that I'm - entirely too neurotic for a woman of her caliber. She's shown, repeatedly, and without exception, that she favours a partner with an iron will, unwavering commitment to a cause and to her, the ability to make hard decisions . . ."

He thinks about it for a moment.

"Oh, and brunettes. I believe she favours brunettes."

So, it's one of those pairings where I think about it, and I'm like, hmmmmmm? Because there's a certain double date quality to the way that Hank, Abigail, Scott and Emma interact, especially during Warren Ellis' Astonishing X-Men run.

Scott and Abigail are very much alike, they even call it out in dialogue. I can't find it at current, but I believe at one point, she says that if she wanted to talk to an emotionally closeted shut-in, she'd look in the mirror, when talking with Scott, and, well. Yeah.

And of course, Hank and Emma are extremely good friends at this point in time - while they aren't as alike as Scott and Abigail are, they're both incredibly emotionally sensitive (Emma just chooses when to APPLY said sensitivity very selectively), well read, intelligent and perverted individuals, who both adore teaching kids and being there for the next generation.

So they have a lot in common! Which is always a good foundation for a relationship, and yeah, Emma definitely does not have a problem with Hank's appearance.

Like. Holy shit, that is a LOT to digest, and not just because Logan is off being Super Meat Boy.

SIDENOTE: I fucking hate how Hank and Emma's friendship has been completely fucking rubbished recently. The last time they had even a kind word for each other was when Hank was comforting her over the loss of New Tian, and then the next time they're talking on panel, she's calling him a bastard because we just SKIPPED the part where she's like, hey, Henry, what the FUCK, this isn't you (like we did for EVERYONE on Krakoa, but what the fuck ever).

But in terms of a romantic pairing? I don't know. I feel like you'd have to be quite, quite uninterested in women not to find Emma Frost attractive, even if it on a purely aesthetic level (personality wise, she's definitely not for everyone), so I'm sure he does find her beautiful, but I don't know if she's ever registered as an option on Hank's radar. I feel like he treasures his friendship with her and wouldn't want to jeopardise it, as cliche as that is.

As for Emma . . . well. I could see her maybe having an interest, but I do genuinely think that the kind of neurotic that Hank is, is a very different kind of neurotic to how Scott is, and that would affect their chances of a long term relationship. Hank is so mired and crippled in self-doubt, in insecurity, in second-guessing himself, and I honestly do think Emma would just get bored of that at some point?

Maybe that's an uncharitable read, but speaking as someone who's in a relationship with someone with quite incredible anxiety and self-doubt, it doesn't go away just because you tell them things are okay a few times, and it can get legitimately tiring. You have to be willing to do it now, tomorrow, the week after, maybe forever, because the doubts just don't go away, and again, I just don't know if Emma has that patience in her.

idk if i sent this to someone else but i probably did and they just haven't answered BUT-

i love the idea of Ren and Itsuki being more, i guess, intelligent?? than Naofumi and Motoyasu. like high IQ, knows a ton of subjects and is VERY well versed in each, kinda way!!!

It makes sense kinda too, Ren is from a hi-tech world which likely needs a lot of extreme just to function in society NORMALLY, and i think he did good with A's and high B's. Itsuki went to a wealthy private school(based on uniform) for people with Superpowers and is probably a straight A honor student!!

that doesn't say anything about how dense/young they are, tho XD

Naofumi, though he is pretty smart, is canonically an otaku nerd who never went past highschool, and likely got like C's and B's. Motoyasu was in university, but with how stupid and stubborn he is i don't think he's too intelligent either XD; he seems like an Art Major(derogatory).

I can imagine Itsuki and Ren having a really engaged, in-depth, "high IQ" intelligent conversation and Nao and Motoyasu CANNOT keep up XD

tl;dr:

i agree that ren is probably a nerd but NOT because he's from a hi-tech world; i also agree that itsuki would be a huge nerd too but it is because he's from a world w/superpowers.

imo ren's range of knowledge would be wider than itsuki's and motoyasu's, but naofumi would have an even wider range and a greater depth of applicable knowledge because of how he spent his time in melromarc's world.

itsuki & motoyasu's intelligences would probably be confined to specific fields, perhaps even specific applications to a certain extent. their depth of knowledge would run pretty deep in that regard i feel

kizuna would also have a wide range of knowledge, some more shallow than others. she'd be a lot more practically (and emotionally) equipped than ren would, tbh

didn't mention it in the ramblings below, but i decided to add up my placements on all of the characters' intellects, and it looks like this: Naofumi > Kizuna > Itsuki > Motoyasu > Ren > Motoyasu again (because of the mental illnesses)

(DO note that these are in comparison to each other and not really how smart i think they actually are, which is something i could probably elaborate on later. there were some where i realized that the heroes would all be better than the average person, and there were a couple where i realized that the heroes weren't that smart in that category.)

however ren & itsuki would be so much better at, say, math than naofumi or kizuna would be. i'm sorry.

however i think motoyasu and naofumi would have soooorta equal math smarts (just different applications of what they know) so.

hmmMMMM i will admit, as fun as these headcanons are, i don't know how much i can reciprocate...? i think there's a fallacy here wrt money, technology level, and education as they relate to knowledge: while having more of any one of those three can make access to knowledge easier, it doesn't necessarily mean that becoming more knowledgeable (either willingly or unwillingly) is a guarantee.

you ARE right that education doesn't say anything on how dense/young (immature?) they are. but i'd also like to call into question what we're calling "intelligence" here, as personally i think everyone has a different thing that they're "smart" in (if they're smart in anything at all). and the different heroes All definitely have a variety in that regard.

(personally i don't really buy into IQ points / IQ stuff either because it doesn't really say What that sort of intelligence is supposed to entail, i've always seen it as a thing white people use as a bragging right PRBTBBTT)

THAT SAID. i still think ren has a decent chance of being the (intellectually—i mean specifically logical*) smartest of the cardinal heroes just from his personality alone LMAO. i think the comparative list of logical intelligence looks like:

Ren

Naofumi (above Itsuki by a very close margin that only was made further after their time in Melromarc's world)

Itsuki

Motoyasu

Kizuna (including kizuna because she's a cardinal hero too and i like her.)

PLEASE note that i'm not trying to call Kizuna stupid here (in fact, i think she's decently smart; average intelligence for her age at the VERY least)—rather I'm trying to call Motoyasu smart (or at least. also average intelligence for his age w/some specializations)

(*invoking from the multiple intelligences theory, proposed by howard gardner. essentially, the theory claims that human "intellect" is actually split up into different modalities, rather than intelligence being one singular ability. i think this theory just Makes Sense™ because like. humans are far too complex. but also i didn't mean to bring in psychological theory just for headcanons HELP ME.

of course not everyone agrees that this theory is applicable to daily life or questions of intelligence, and additionally i may not even be naming more common reasons as to why people disbelieve this theory? but i support it and at the very least appreciate the classifications so i'm gonna borrow its basic proposed ideas for the rest of the post.)

i try to avoid Quantifying traits like intelligence tbh, but also there's no disregarding the fact that some people are just better at different shit than others. difference is a Thing. it Exists™. so with that, i'm gonna ramble about my headcanons/the vibes that i get wrt the 9 intelligence types in gardner's theory:

(NOTE: got tired in the middle of this so i'm not gonna comment on/define all of these. if you'd like me to, send me an ask for another category and i can go in-depth! i just realized that this post is getting LONG.)

Visual / Spatial (i rearranged this list SO FUCKING MUCH)

Best: Naofumi. Remembered that he got into jewelry-making; becoming a traveling trader probably unlocked some latent advertising/graphic design awareness locked in his subconscious after years of curating manga, anime, games, and doujinshi LMAO. Also has some great senses on the field, combined w/his stupendous leadership his ability to apply his intelligence here is off the charts.

(2) Itsuki. Great at visualizing things relative to where he is, and definitely would have to have that kind of awareness in order to be a good archer. Placing him this high because—ironically enough—I think he'd be close to the best at analyzing "chain reactions" (how things not only interact in a space, but how those interactions will affect everything else around them).

(3) Ren. Despite probably being used to cramped spaces more often than not, he's also used to VR, so he'd probably be more aware than most on what may be in his surroundings. Just as good at considering "chain reactions" as Itsuki would be. Probably knows a thing or two about graphics as well—not saying that he's an artist by any means, but rather he'd be exposed to art (in advertising) to the same degree anyone incredibly online or in a very urbanized space might be. Might have taken note of how all that stuff works—he seems like a curious kid.

(4) Kizuna. Pretty good at visualizing things in a 3d space—maybe not the most creative person out there (more resourceful than anything, which is a different skill), but has a strong sense of style. Also would be pretty good at observing and predicting how things would react physically—I could see her and Ren being tied, honestly.

Worst: Motoyasu. i agree so bad he'd be an Art Major (derogatory but also affectionate). Initially I put him at the top, then I recalled how the other heroes displayed their spatial intelligence in the anime and was forced to relent that Motoyasu's seeming inability to consider collateral damage (especially as compared to the other heroes) would put him squarely at the bottom. He sucks severely at thinking through the implications and consequences of things at their face. So even though I think he'd be the most artistically-minded and even potentially the most eagle-eyed of all the Cardinal Heroes (second to Itsuki on the latter part imo), he doesn't have the intelligence here to apply any observations he makes.

IN TERMS OF ARTISTIC ABILITY, HOWEVER! (from best to worst):

Artistic Scrutiny: Motoyasu, Naofumi, Kizuna, Itsuki, Ren Artistic Talent: Motoyasu, Itsuki, Naofumi, Kizuna, Ren Artistic Knowledge: Motoyasu, Ren, Kizuna, Naofumi, Itsuki Aesthetic Sense: Kizuna, Motoyasu, Naofumi, Ren, Itsuki Would realize the dress was blue and black and taken under weird lighting conditions: Motoyasu and Motoyasu alone, somehow

Naturalist

Best: Kizuna. IT'S A PERFECT DAY FOR A FISH HUNT. Kizuna is the Hunting Tool hero and has had to live away from civilization on her own for a very long time. Not to mention, just as the person she is, I doubt that she wasn't well-versed in nature and the world around her even before her exile. Loves to fish so bad

(2) Naofumi. Naofumi be multiclassing in everything, including plant-based magic (king)—however, before getting summoned, Itsuki would've known more than him by a long shot. (In fact, he'd probably rank above Motoyasu exclusively because of his affinity for animals!)

(3) Itsuki. Itsuki probably got some wildlife/survivalist training at his school, and his knowledge (even though he probably hasn't honed it too much so much as relied on what he knows) is probably close to Naofumi's. Maybe not the most comfortable around animals,

(4) Motoyasu. Wouldn't be the best forager or survivalist by a long shot, but would feel very comfortable (although not completely knowledgeable) in natural spaces. Most animals are probably ambivalent to him. Has more keen naturalistic instincts than the average person, so the gap between him and Ren is larger than his gap with Itsuki. It's not his fault that everyone else above him is just a nature freak. (Personally imagining him as a wild frat boy released into the apartment backyard woods hunting rabbits on all fours)

Worst: Ren. I don't know how urbanized Ren's home Japan was, but he doesn't seem like the type of kid who'd be spending all his time outside. Can't fucking swim. Would have learned enough from video games and (to his embarrassment) trial and error to get by, but do NOT forget the fucking Dragon Corpse incident holy shit. Probably hangs around civilization as much as possible. Legitimately worse at this than the average person prove me wrong

Musical

Best: Itsuki

(2, tied) Kizuna & Motoyasu

Worst, tied: Ren & Naofumi

apparently itsuki became the Vassal Music Instrument holder? good for him! i really need to read the light novels help me god.

musical headcanons are a BIG THING for me so i get really picky about them, but personally i don't know enough about these characters to really say one way or the other quite yet. my placements are just vague vibes, i'll feel more comfortable elaborating on a musical hc for these guys once i know more about the story.

Kizuna & Motoyasu probably have good grasps on musical concepts—i thiiiink motoyasu knows how to play guitar? and kizuna feels like someone who's played an instrument at some point.

Logical / Mathematical

Best: Ren. Probably did a lot of in-depth stat calculation when playing his video games, he gives me those vibes. His mathematical knowledge is best geared towards statistics and calculations, and he probably makes great assumptions/hypotheses when he's given the space and opportunity for it.

(2) Naofumi.

(3) Itsuki.

(4) Motoyasu.

Worst: Kizuna.

Existential

Best: Kizuna. Her entire character arc :]

(2) Ren. Seems very thoughtful when he gives himself the space, in the LNs he seems to be giving himself that space for sure in alongside of how much he's trying to atone. I care him

(3) Motoyasu. Doesn't seem interested in this kind of thing admittedly, but would have some surprisingly profound ideas hidden underneath his whole idiot college boy facade. I think he has the capacity to be more spiritually intelligent/considerate than anyone might give him credit for. It'll take him a bit, but. Y'know. (gestures vaguely)

(4) Naofumi. He seemed incredibly dismissive about any sort of existential purpose he might have until recently I think? He never thought very much about his place in the world aside from how much the world hated him, and only recently (in the anime) started thinking about existential topics. He was just trying to survive for awhile, so philosophy outright didn't matter much to him. Could probably start outclassing Ren & Motoyasu if those two stagnate as he progresses.

Worst: Itsuki. Hates thinking about existentialism. Black and white thinking lends itself poorly to thinking about the possibilities of something, and spiritual/philosophical questions tend to introduce grey areas and mess with that kind of thinking.

idk who added this type or when, i think it's essentially spirituality? or at the very least how to keep going. idk. philosophy is also under this umbrella. idk how to tackle it

Interpersonal

Best: Kizuna.

(2, tied) Naofumi & Motoyasu. Naofumi theoretically wouldn't be that good with people (what with his anger at the world and subsequent introversion), but the entire series has demonstrated over and over that he's naturally good at making meaningful connections. On the flip side, ever since Motoyasu's mental breakdown in the LN it's been getting worse, but he's naturally charismatic and has been the people person out of the rest of the heroes. Motoyasu is good at making friends—Naofumi is good at keeping them.

(3) Itsuki. lol. lmao

Worst: Ren. He's doing so bad and he's going to continue to. I'm so sorry.

Bodily-Kinesthetic

Best: Naofumi, hands down, tied with Kizuna. It's kinda crazy how good at moving around and just throwing himself around the field the anime makes Naofumi. He's a natural fighter, great at defense. I could elaborate more but. Tired. Go king go

Kizuna, meanwhile, Probably has the best hand-eye coordination of the group, behind or tying with Itsuki (who'd probably train that as well). She's above him, however, due to probably having a better instinctual skill in using her body in combat. As in, good at getting into position, out of position, timing shots and attacks etc etc etc. Probably pretty good at physical skills as well. Honestly

(2) Motoyasu. Honestly I can see him having great motor functions, ranking below Kizuna only because he doesn't seem like he'd have gotten into many fights pre-summon (not that fighting a lot = more bodily-kinesthetic intelligence) and his batch of Cardinal Heroes haven't been at it this long. Being an artist (particularly someone who sews & designs) probably makes him aware of how to fine-tune certain things, as well as a higher awareness than average on how the body moves and how it could be restricted. Skilled with his hands, probably has some great footwork too. Also he probably has a pretty good understanding of his body because of. Because. Because he'd. You know how. It'd be because he'd have a lot of. Y'know. It's because he f

(3) Itsuki. Sure, he had to undergo training in his boarding school for superpower stuff, but I never got the impression that he was necessarily good at it. His power, "Accuracy" (able to hit targets accurately with any ranged weapon/device if not blocked), would probably make him instinctually good at positioning himself, but wouldn't necessarily make him naturally good at bodily mechanics—in fact, his power could've even made him complacent in that regard. Sorry to be so consistently harsh to this boy I know he's trying. Probably better than average because of his schooling, but he was also considered one of the weakest powers in his class so that probably affected him (at least mentally).

Worst: Ren. Can't fucking swim. King (sorry i know this isn't fair. he's probably actually better than itsuki in this regard but i decided to throw itsuki a bone by being too lazy to think it through at this point)

kinda tempted to put motoyasu above kizuna & naofumi but the results don't lie lmao

Linguistic

Best: Motoyasu. Rather poetic, probably incredibly well-read. I thiiiink his vocabulary is larger than the rest of the heroes? He gives me that vibe at the very least. Definitely a great actor if he tried, can put a lot of oompf in his words and—if he really feels like it—could craft incredibly effective speeches to evoke ideas he doesn't even state. Master at utilizing connotations without even realizing, imo. Would be a dangerous political opponent if he cared for it / used his talent/skill to the best of his ability. The royals love him.

(2) Naofumi. Doesn't try very hard to speak up for himself, which is a shame as he's gotten so much better at speaking in general. Great at conveying ideas when he needs to, has worked out his conversation & convincing muscles. Frankly the best speaker out of all the heroes due to skill, losing out to Motoyasu only because I think Motoyasu's just that talented.

(3) Ren. Not the most well-spoken in plain conversation, but is thoughtful enough to use his words properly and effectively. Pretty good at making and reading into inferences.

(4) Kizuna. Particularly blunt with her words, which is as much of a good thing as it can be a bad thing. Is also an otaku, so she's definitely reading a lot of media and I should hoooope thinking a lot about it too. Only slightly behind Ren if only because of the time she spent exiled, but could easily surpass him with time, age, and care for linguistic-focused skills.

(5) Itsuki. Alright conversationalist, decent public speaker. Due to his black and white thinking, however, he struggles to read between the lines. Can sense poor intention well enough, but if you've a good enough poker face, Itsuki won't be able to discern your true intentions through speech.

Worst: Wait a minute.

No.

No fucking way.

IT'S ALSO MOTOYASU. HOLY SHIT. Yeah, for all this "natural talent" and the flowery language he can put out, Motoyasu isn't precisely the best at communicating meaningful ideas when the going gets tough—and only gets worse as time goes on. Furthermore, due to his willful ignorance, he struggles a lot with reading between the lines. Can even completely ignore what's outright said to him if his mind is made up. After his mental breakdown in the LN, his ability to even understand half of the population gets stripped away by delusion (the. pig thing). Best: Kizuna. Better than everyone else by default, but has also spent a lot of time on her own. In fact had a whole arc in her backstory about coming to terms with herself and what she was going to do to get out of the Infinite Labyrinth. Has a strong sense of self I feel, knows who she is and what she wants, and more or less accepting of herself too.

Worst: Everyone else sucks here. I'm sorry. Naofumi would've outclassed them (by being an average person) before getting summoned, then unlocking his Curse Series (Wrath). With his party's help, he's been able to steadily climb back to "average/moderate intrapersonal intelligence" status, and is currently sitting next to Ren (who beats himself up far too much; this negative self-image clouds his ability to fully self-conceptualize. Ren would be above average otherwise imo). Itsuki struggles blaming himself for problems and deliberately tries to ignore his flaws, having a faulty understanding of himself.

Special Worst Category for Motoyasu who, if we were scoring this on a scale of 1 to 5, would have –5 points. There's so much wrong with him. Stop Asian Boy Stop.

What year did you get into Berserk?

2015! I read it on some sketchy manga site while I was staying at my grandma's for the summer 😂

Did you watch the anime or read the manga first?

Read the manga first! I used to do this thing on various sketchy manga (and anime) sites where I'd press the 'Random' button and just start reading/watching. In this case I went into the Berserk manga with zero knowledge beforehand which was cool in some ways and not so in others lmao

Who’s your favorite character and why?

Hmmmmmm, it's gotta be a tie between Guts and Griffith tbh. For me, I find them both mutually more interesting because of the others existence. Runner up is Casca, though that's just because I'm deeply protective of her rather than her writing. And woof why, where to begin.

Guts: I guess I just love how he subverts the Edgy Power Fantasy Antihero vibes as we get into the GA. We see how he actually has deeply rooted self worth issues and is kind of emotionally delicate and sensitive. And I like how introspective he is about his baggage, even if he doesn’t always manage to figure out his feelings. Canonically, literally all he wants is for someone to actually give a shit about and him and love him, but he doesn’t fully understand that about himself because it’s been obfuscated by the mentality he developed throughout his childhood trauma: the strong survive and the weak die, so he has to become strong because the alternative is being abused the rest of his life. And because of that his instinct is to isolate himself and keep people at arms length and fighting just to survive— until Griffith and the Hawks. There's something surprisingly sweet about him, and the way his first instinct is to isolate himself again (like when he decides to leave the Hawks) is something I find deeply relatable and tragic 😭 Also he's really gay, which I love for him.

Griffith: What don't I love about Griffith? I love that he's so contradictory, both in personality (efficient/ruthless stratigest vs playful and childish) and in terms of how the dream that he's dedicated his life to-- and the ways in which he's molded himself and his behavior in the name of reaching said dream-- is weighed against his love for Guts and legit loses. I love that he's basically just a street kid who wanted a better life for himself and for other downtrodden people, and manages to go up the ranks until he's mingling with nobility (and winning!) though his charisma, cunning and skill as a leader, and then throws it all away because of heartbreak. I love that, ultimately, the reason he goes through with the sacrifice is because his love for Guts is so overwhelming to the point that he's destroyed his own life over it, and he realized that he needed to get away from it.

Do you have a favorite story arc?

Haha, cliché but the Golden Age, hands down. It's easily the best written arc of Berserk.

What are your top 3 ships?

GriffGuts (my OTP of OTP's at this point), SerpiGuts, aannndddd hm. Toss-up between Chasca (Charlotte/Casca) and Farnesca (Farnese/Casca). I'm more personally invested in Chasca entirely for my own headcanon reasons that have zero basis in canon lol, whereas Farnesca does have interesting possibilities based on their relationship in canon, but I'm not quite as personally invested.

Oh and Zodd/Guts for a runner-up, because Zodd totally has the hots for Guts. You cannot change my mind.

Who’s your favorite apostle?

Probably Zodd, big ol' scruffy dude. I also like Rosine a lot though, aside from certain aspects of her design 😒

Is there a character you’d know that you’d be friends with?

hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........... Pippin, Rickert, Gaston. Maybe Casca during the GA. Probably Serpico. Everyone else is too much of a hot mess, don't wanna deal with that.

Who’s your favorite God Hand?

Femto probably, though more specfically during the Black Swordman arc because he's such a petty bitch. I also really like Slan (and yes it's mostly because she's hot and I forget about feminism when it comes to her).

You’re allowed to bring one character back from the dead. Who are you bringing back?

(...... Casca's potential as a character) jkjk the real answer is. Ok so I had to stop and think about this for like 30 minutes lmao, and I think my answer is Rosine. I really kind of wanted her to survive and go off with Jill, and it wouldn't change the impact of the Eclipse which (other than the fuckinnn Eclipse R*pe 😑) I thought was a perfect climax to a really well constructed tragedy. Whereas I thought the Lost Children arc ended on a such sour note because it's message ends up being that Jill has faced Real Shit Now, and is therefore strong enough to go back to her abusive father, and frames it as though that's the responsible thing to do....? Like??? It's bad. Guts sparing Rosine, and Jill running away with her would have been so much better imo.

------ I think most of the Berserk people I know have already been tagged at some point lmao, so just give this a go if you feel like it!

Hmmmmmm any touch-starved hcs for any of the zabraks?? Sunder I think is the most obvious, Brutus the one who would never admit to it, the others I’m curious about

Oh yes, of course Sunder is touch-starved. It's something Feral tried to fix many times, and yet... Sunder could never bring himself to accept the offers. It's not a "strong" trait, he'd always told himself. Nightbrother warriors shouldn't need hugs or gentle touches or comfort when things get tough.

So when you do touch him, even the smallest things like holding his hand will drive him to near tears. The feeling lingers like a buzz on his skin for hours after, it feels wrong, but right; bright and powerful, yet soft and loving. He wants more, but he feels like to ask would be foolishness. That's why, during first embraces, brushes at his cheeks and arms around him, he starts to cry, overwhelmed by every point of contact. But don't let him go. Never let him go again.

Brutus is touch-starved, because he essentially did it to himself. For a time, he was alright. Feral was there, never letting him go untouched, even when Brutus grumbled, "Go away." But that didn't last, and he recoiled into a shell.

He doesn't deserve that touch, any contact beyond cruel ones, he'd convinced himself. Everyone else needs it, they must stick together and feel the life that runs between each and every one of them. Not him. To do so would be to form a connection, to become someone to them, rather than a concept designed for their protection. So he stayed away, as untouchable as he was unheard. That way, no one will be affected if something happens to him. He is evil. He is cruel, hateful. No one should ever make contact with something so awful.

But you start to touch him, carefully, kindly, the feeling so far back in his mind that it's become entirely foreign. He can't bring himself to pull away anymore. You can't tell if you're imagining the tears in his eyes.

Riot isn't touch-starved per se, but rather, nothing he's been given has ever felt real. He's had physical contact on a frequent basis, yes, but... it all felt forced. It was more out of spite, some stand against the Nightsisters, a statement that had nothing to do with him and everything to do with everyone else. Replace him with any other Nightbrother and the outcome would be the same.

When you touch him, you do so out of your love, out of a desire to feel him, and no one else. He can't believe it, can't understand it. He's never been desired, not that way. He's always been interchangeable, just another person there to make the statement and be on his way. Someone feeling him, taking in his body, the contours of his face and curve of every bit of his skin... it's something he would dream about, sometimes, just to feel less alone.

And when he returns the touch, he does so the same way, feeling you, who you are, what comes together to form you. You allow it. He still can't believe you allow it.

Maul was afraid, at first. He moved away, knowing what usually happens when someone tries to offer a hand. Yet you stay, you let him feel it in small places, his shoulder, the back of his hand, perhaps a brush at his cheek. He very, very easily becomes addicted to it.

He loves the touch, can often think of nothing else. Your hand alone is his home, the comfort and solace he seeks every day of his life. After so long without it, he finds himself desperately needing it, wanting not even a moment of his day without it. Full embraces make him go wild, kisses bring out purrs he barely knew existed. He would easily die for this touch, no matter how small.

Savage isn't all that touch-starved. He was with Feral for much of his life, who made sure his brother was never left without a kind hand. It's after the incident that holds the most problems.

He keeps himself from touch, certain he will hurt you, that even the lightest of holds will break you. And he says as much when you move forward to hold him, his voice insisting that you'll be hurt if you go any closer. But you keep his face between your hands, brushing at his cheeks with your thumbs.

"See? I'm perfectly fine," you say softly, smiling as you feel his hands ever so gradually move up to hold your waist.

Feral is the one terrified of rejection. After so long of people denying his offers of hugs or a grip on their hand, he made himself get used to keeping to himself, directly against what he knows he needs to be happy. For a while, he never offers a touch, knowing that you likely don't want it. At least, you don't want it from him.

But you do touch him, you do hug him and keep him pressed to your chest warmly, feeling him purr against you. He buries his face against your chest, barely believing how long it's been since he felt something like this. Yet you do this, you hold him and you tell him you love him. You kiss his forehead and hold his hands to your body. There's rarely a time after that where he isn't touching you. It feels like a lifeline of sorts, like a line of oxygen passing from you to him, keeping him alive solely through your fingertips and your lips.

Fandom: Oh so many. The ones I’m currently the loudest in are Bungou Stray Dogs and ATLA! Though I do still write for the mcu and have written in a range of other fandoms from Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji to Terminator Dark Fate. And I feel bad about absolutely none of them. 😌

Where do you post: Ao3 all the way! Occasionally tumblr too, not all of which ends up on Ao3 for a number of reasons. Usually, cuz the fic is unfinished but I desire validation for what’s there anyway. X.X

Most popular multi-chapter fic: Probably His Hands Were Warm, which was my first fic on Ao3 and at 59k is…unfinished. 🙈 For multiple reasons but the biggest was that I couldn’t figure out how to write the climax and then as more time passed I realized there was so much I wanted to change about it. I have been asked multiple times whether I’ll ever go back to it and though the answer is yes I can’t actually say when it’ll happen or if people will just one day get a notif for His Hands Were Warm 2.0.

Most popular one-shot: I’m not proud to say it but A Little Hostility is absolutely my most popular one-shot and well, most popular fic period with a whopping 8k+ hits and just fifteen short of 700 kudos. The reason I’m not entirely proud of that is because my heart wasn’t totally in it when I wrote it. Twas a simple salt fic I wrote in the middle of the night after watching Infinity Wars again and getting annoyed at certain….elements of the movie. 😂 I mean. It’s a fine fic I just wish I could get that kind of appreciation for some of my other works.

Favorite story you’ve written so far: Hm. Hmmmmmm. Fuck I hate these questions because I don’t like choosing and I love certain parts of all my fics…… atm my go to answer is The Way He Flies which is, as I’m sure all of my followers are aware because I bring it up so often, my jetaang fic. It is, incidentally, probably my least popular fic in ao3 which makes me love it all the more. The biggest reason I love though is because I really enjoyed getting into Jet’s head!

Fic you were nervous to post: All of them Seriously though? Every fic I’ve ever posted for other people. Every single one I have felt excessively nervous about posting because I never want someone to read what they requested I write and be disappointed by the end product. (Which is why a b-day fic I wrote for someone took an additional six months to get to them…)

Do you outline: Not usually. I have outlines for a couple fics, one I was rewriting and another I have yet to actually start though the outline is and has been complete for a long time. Why haven’t I written it? Because the fic will be a MONSTER. 😅

Complete: None of my multi-chapters….🙈 All of my posted one-shots are though! (However a lot of them are awaiting follow ups…)

Do you accept prompts: I absolutely do! I have some unanswered ones in my inbox right now actually that I’ve started working on just haven’t finished lol. I will though! Because I hate hate hate to leave people hanging. (I’m sure some of my followers can vouch for that. Yes I make them wait but no I never fail to answer. Eventually.)

Upcoming story you’re most excited to write: Hmmmmmmm I really want to start my Zukaang Soulmate AU!!! I have been stumped for a long time though because I don’t want assholes coming after me for the way I want to write it. I want to keep their ages in the canon timeline the same but building a romance between Zuko and Aang with same age dif as Kataang concerns me. I mean. It did. Maybe it wouldn’t now that I’ve actually written zukaang with their existing age gap (that is bigger). 🤔 Something else which has contributed a bit to my stalling is how much I know it’ll take out of me because I’ll be adding to the lore of the world by implementing the soulmate stuff.

AHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS GOING TO GET SOOOO LONG!!!! i have a different view of the indo fam as a whole. i call them the indo fam but i mean the found family trope!!!! theyre like a group of college students sharing a dorm if that makes sense, since their servant selves are obviously different from their initial myths/human vessels!!!

OK SO. RECENTLY, i have an oomf that found books about arjuna that summarize his exploits in the mahabharata(I DONT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO READ IT ALL IM SO SORRY) and also talk about him in a more philosphical manner such as his states of mind during each event etc and i’ve been meaning to read said book because im genuinely interested in arjuna now!!! and i’d like to know more about this indo prince because from what i’ve seen, he is portrayed in a rather bad light(?) in FGO which i find extremely !!!!!!!!!!! and incrdibley !!!!!!! strange !!!!!!! the mahabharata’s conflicts can be put in a mostly grey area where there’s no good nor bad, its not black and white. so seeing arjuna get bashed because of the way his conflict with karna was written is... hm. let’s say that im REALLY starting to understand arjuna fans that dislike seeing him get mischaracterized so much. OTHER THAN THAT, his design is adorable, his travel outfit is my favourite because he deserves to relax and have some fun!!! fgo making him a chuuni is cute and his VAs little moans are cute cute cute!!!!!!!!!!! (mash grabs my shoulder and forces me to sit down) i think that arjuna deserves better and im really happy to see him have fun in his travel costume voicelines. i think we should take arjun on a date!!! he’s a great lover, we’d have the best time!! OH ALSO, kama seeing him as the student council president in their interlude makes me SOOOOOOO HAPPY its unreal, i think it fits him very very well, the seitokaichou who was elected because of everyone’s hopes and recommended by teachers because he’s suuuch a good student but because of that, the pressure to be good is constantly towering over his head and everytime he looks out the window he wishes he could ditch class and skip a day just because he felt like going to the arcade and be a bad student.......just this once........i think hes very very cute...... i want him to cook for me. ANEWAYS i also have quite the thoughts about karna, his characterization in the game is linked to arjuna’s and thats fine but i think that forgetting how much of a little sassy bastard he can get was a mistake! did you know that in apocrypha’s german dub on netflix, when jeanne calls his name like “You’re Karna, aren’t you ? The son of the Indian Sun God !” HES LIKE “So ?” AND THAT WAS SOOOO BITCHY OF HIM, i think that karna is a good boy in fgo but the fact that he was such a fighty old man in the mahabharata shouldnt be forgotten and is a charm trait. I MEAN ???? HE THREW HANDS WITH AN 18 YEAR OLD(ARJUN) WHILE BEIN LIKE... THIRTY TWO. WHATS WITH THIS ANNOYING OLD MAN !!!!! knowing these little facts about him made me like him so much more actually !! i think karna being so nice is adorable!! but the little bitchy energy u can find in his voicelines is also very charming!! i think karna looking at me emotionless as i ask him to lend me his notes for the nth time that week and then saying “...Mn.” when i thank him is cute!!! his voiceline towards things he dislikes is interesting to me. karna seeming aloof and mean bc he doesnt know how to communicate but is actually nice underneath...... hey... thats a little delinquentcore........ i wouldnt say yankii but hes like... hes like... u know hes the handsome quiet one of the group of yankiis... u know the one...? hey where are you going

ganesha is also a character im deeply interested in but i havent played CCC so i dont know that many details about jinako herself !! my brain goes HMMMMMM it seems lord ganesha is trans in fgo ! (since kama used to be a male god originally as well!!) ganesha uses all pronouns!!! and ganesha is also special to me because they share similar traits with kama when it comes to their characterization AND mischaracterizations. ganesha isnt JUST jinako. theres a part of a god in the servant mix!!! and jinako HERSELF is actually a pretty sad character imo. the whole otaku/neet thing is obviously a facade and her true wish being that she wants to redo her whole life is also proof of how much she hates what shes become, yet at the same time, she doesnt know what else she could do. but anyways, i prefer looking at servants from a lore POV so i think that ganesha should still be considered a god and be adressed as such!! i like seeing people portray ganesha as jinako but i prefer it when a certain lavish more godly side of them is put forward. a side of jinako that managed to move on a little bit if that makes sense ? that got more serious. and became someone else entierly despite sharing similarities. needless to say their bond with karna makes me happy since he shows them respect as you should towards a god!! its a bit different from their bond in CCC... like they matured somewhat!! anyway ganesha is the one who taught everyone else in the indo fam about video games and technology and i will NEVER shut up.

(... would sita count.) and lakshi being a jeanneface is a waste. well, she’s still very pretty and her lore is also quite interesting!! i havent looked into it fully yet but i think she should be kissed on the mouth. her bad luck makes me slip on a banana peel whenevr i get close to her to kiss her and i hit my head on the pavement and pass away-

parvati is on a tough spot for me atm. i genuinely love thinking of her as the way the indian goddess herself is portrayed because thats where the fun lies for me in her character. especially when shes involved with other indian servants, thats a given!! i would like to see parvati grow, suffer and heal. because branding her as an “all-knowing mom” is easy, but every single parent makes mistakes if you follow that logic. also, since shes the sakura servant “thats closest to her initial personality”, she’s got some of the most Repulsive fans ive Ever witnessed in fandom spaces and lets say that im trying to work my way out of this hellhole and find things to like about parvati without the fandom’s influence. needless to say, im going to keep looking into her mythos and her lore by myself at my own pace and keep doing my own thing in my little corner.

rama shouldve been a jock. THE RAMAYANA IS OLDER THAN THE MAHABHARATA, WHY IS.....Hrm well him being summoned as his baby version gives me hope for a future rama alt perhaps??? but i think that he shouldve been a total jock and he shouldve been huge with a huge red lion-like mane for his hair and a teethy grin and big biceps and intense love for his wife. SPEAKING OF SITA, her charm point is her purity but i wish.... that their artist still hadnt drawn them like That, im not a fan of lily servants and i think purity = being young is a bit of an annoying excuse!!! rama and sita looking similar is because of their shared history which is fine but... rolls my eyes............. rama shouldve been 6ft tall and sita shouldve been a milf to match...... anyways i doubt ravana would be added as a servant but i’d love to have a ramayana centric event!! where all indo servants have their own lore centric role to play!!! oh thatd be a dream.... but i have learned to not expect much from a fanservice game so im jus gonna draw my own stuff! This is more of a joke than anything and I did it in like, 30 min on discord lmao, so don’t expect anything great or even a good grammar (I’m spanish, cannot write lol) but I found it extremely fun and I thought maybe someone wants to share what they think x member could be in the troll universe.

This is a light hearted post talking about to which blood cast they’d belong to, nothing else. Also, there are certain people I know more information about than others, so don’t be surprised if there are some I did not talk about, since I have so little information about them :3

Maybe dream is a fuchsia one? He is the ruler of everything and he's been shown to have great power over everyone, tho he might also either be a cerulean because manipulation, I actually think cerulean fits dream

Tommyinnit. Holy fuck a hard one. Rebel child that yells a lot and is incredibly obnoxious about everything he does. Extremely manipulated but still has his own ideas and desires. Hmmmmmm..... He's deffo a lowblood because come on it's impossible he ain't a lowblood. Part of me wants to say a rust, but he's way too demanding to be a rust.... Maybe a goldblood? I think it might fit

Tubbo. The guy is NOT a lowblood. He's probs teal or more. Maybe oliveblood, but I think maybe he fits the quiet ceruleanblood role? He's pretty chaotic and is pretty interested in nukes, he's been also shown threatening people and I am starting to think he's a tealblood and it's so funny lmao

Fundy. Ooooffffffff. No one really cares about him, disliekd by most. Lots of pranks. he a fox. He must be a goldblood because computers. yup. He's an annoying goldblood

Wilbur soot, at first I thought he might be high on the spectrum, maybe too a purpleblood level, but then I remember how hard dream fights against him and I thought "Maybe he's lower?" but I think imma stick to the purpleblood one because he's pretty much obsessed over an idea he has and lots of people followed him, not exactly a religion, but you get me. He also refuses to wear armor and he sort of reminds me of Gamzee when he lost his beliefs

Summary: Duke is a disaster bi ace. Somehow, his disastrous nature doesn’t extend to his love life. Much.

Written for Duke Week 2020 (hosted by @duketectivecomics) Day Two, and the theme is Gotham Pride! Also, I’m not ace (I consulted some friends and had sensitivity readers check over it, however, shoutout to all of you) so if I messed anything up, please lmk!

Duke leans into Izzy’s lips, and Izzy presses back. He closes his eyes, expecting to feel something, anything, that spark he keeps reading about or the soft, silky touch that made him want to keep going on forever—but he feels none of that.

Instead, he feels Izzy’s cracked and dry lips—Riko always offers her spare chapstick or lip balm, but Izzy refuses. Duke gladly takes them in his girlfriend’s stead. He’s got a collection going. And he tries to be into it, he tries to focus on the physical sensation, but...

It's boring more than anything else, is all he has to say. He's certain Izzy enjoys it, and he remembers learning about how lip nerves are more sensitive, which is why kissing is enjoyable, but he doesn't get any of that. Just... none.

Huh.

When they pull away, Izzy’s eyes are twinkling and she’s grinning. She glows, a happy afterglow that always seems to come with a little buzz.

“How was that for your first kiss?” she teases gently. “Did it help you figure anything out?”

Duke shrugs. “Yeah,” he responds. “Kissing is weird.”

“Well,” Izzy allows, still grinning but a touch softer now, “it’s not for everyone. We can just hold hands from now on if you’d like.”

And that, that kind of touch, that sends thrills up Duke’s arm and gives him a happy buzz.

“I’d like that,” he tells her earnestly. He then holds out chapstick, cherry-flavored. “You need this more than I do.”

Izzy swats him.

He and Izzy break up amiably. They work better as friends, anyways—friends who will take every opportunity to flirt with each other, but just friends nonetheless.

But Duke’s a bleeding heart, as Izzy calls him, and he’s swept away again by another person. Jackson Hyde. The latest Aqualad, who he meets when Aquaman’s meeting with Bruce on official hero business. Anytime they talk, Duke falls back to (good!) cheesy puns and otherwise snarky comments, but he can’t fight the grin on his face.

Robina: dude shoot ur shot!!

Duke floats on clouds on the day he and Jackson agree to meet up for a coffee date. He cuts his patrol short and rides his motorcycle at full speed towards the Batcave.

As Duke walks into the Batcave, the chair (Batchair) turns around, with all the slow, dramatic flair of an evil villain. Instead, Bruce sits on the other end, cowl down, apparently working on something.

“Signal,” he says with his low rumble. “You were scheduled to patrol until five in the afternoon. If you wished to alter the schedule you set, you should have.”

Oh. Right. To be fair, Duke only remembers to set his own schedule for the month because he has calendar alarms set up. It’s much, much easier to just go out and come back whenever you want.

He shrugs. “Can’t I just end patrol because I feel like it?” He glances back, at the zeta tube that would take him to San Francisco. He inches towards it. “I have, uh… homework I need to be getting to.”

“You’re not going towards the stairs. Just the opposite, actually.”

“Okay, okay, fine.” Duke throws his hands in the air. “You caught me. I’m going to meet up with someone. As a date,” he blurts, because Izzy and Riko are ninety percent of his impulse control, and Izzy encouraged him into this situation. Riko is… presumably being her kickass lesbian self with Izzy right now.

Bruce’s eyes only arch a little bit. “With who?”

How the Wayne kids of ages past could look in this man’s eyes and lie, Duke will never know. (Yes, he does know, he’s done it several times before.) “Jackson Hyde,” he says quickly. “You know. Aqualad?”

Belatedly, he realizes this is kind of like his coming out to Bruce. He’s sure Bruce won’t mind, Dick had flings with Wally in the past, Jason is… complicated but safe to say he isn’t cishet, Cass is currently dating Harper, Tim had things with both Kon and Steph, and honestly he’s not sure about Damian but those examples should all be enough, right?

Bruce only hums in that noncommittal way. “There are worse young heroes to be dating. Remember to lock your bedroom door.”

Duke’s eyebrows furrow in confusion, then his face scrunches up in understanding. “No,” he groans. “Please, the last thing I want to do is think about… that. It’s only our first date! I’m ace!”

“Oh,” Bruce replies, nodding, probably mentally filing it away. “Understandable. I won’t make those remarks again if you’re uncomfortable.”

A smile breaks out on Duke’s face, and the warm fluffy feeling of acceptance grows in his chest. “Thanks. But I gotta go…?”

“By all means,” says Bruce, gesturing towards the zeta tube. “Don’t let me keep you. Have fun, sunshine.”

Duke takes this as permission to dash to the zeta tube, rapidly inputting his destination and letting his molecules disappear into the air as he is teleported. “Thanks, Bruce!”

Time to hopefully not make an utter fool of himself. At least he’s got an… ace up his sleeve. (Ace bi his sleeve? As in “by his sleeve” but bi? It loses the instant recognition of the phrase, but maybe…)
