AITA for "choosing" someone I "only knew for 3 stupid fucking months" over a friendship of 9 years?
I try for this not to bother me much since there's nothing I can do to fix the situation, but sometimes I start to think and... well. This happened years ago, too. But you know. Be warned this sounds like a bad gay dramatic book with sex in the mix, but it is entirely true. The three people involved on this are F (27M), C (23M), and of course, me (26M). TL;DR at the end because this thing got long.
First, I need to give context of the type of relationship F and I had. We were friends since I was 14 and he was 15 respectively, at that age I wasn't a friendly person at all, and after I lost my virginity at 17 (with him, important detail) it was extremely difficult to be friendly towards a guy if my intention wasn't to have sex with him, terribly shitty on my part, but we're not getting onto that. Our friendship was the most important thing for me (as I told him a few times, he was my favorite person, and I 100% meant it), we were extremely close, and it was entirely platonic (kinda? if we ignore the "slip" we had at 17 and 18) until we had sex again (20 and 21 respectively) and there we started a friendship-with-benefits thing.
Our "fwb" deal started right after F broke up with his "boyfriend", M (18 at the time). M was roommates with C (17 at the time), so we technically know each other from that time. I was there mostly making small talk and maybe going outside while F and M were pretty obviously fucking, but he was feeling pretty awkward, and like, I get it. Your roommate is getting laid while you're stuck with a sort-of-acquaintance forcefully being friendly. Also, it was awfully obvious C started to resent F a bit. It wasn't the best thing ever, but after F and M broke up, I didn't saw him again for a few years.
Until I was 24! It was pretty normal for us to go to parties, it was fun and that's how I got most of my one-night stands (because if you think having sex with F was enough, no it wasn't). For some reason, that night C was on the same party F and I were. I recognized him right off the bat, and F did too. He was looking... really lonely, and I guess it triggered a kind emotion on me, because the only thing I wanted was to keep him company. F tried to approach him, as there wasn't any resentment on his part (yet), but I told him it might not be the best idea, but I was going on his place.
Long story short, we spent the whole night together, he obviously needed someone to vent, and I was there. After the party ended, I gave him my number, just in case he still needed to vent. Pretty uncharacteristic of me, sincerely. He messaged me again a few days later, with time we kept talking about our lives and shit, and I actually fell in love for the first time in my life three months later! Exciting stuff.
Except apparently I started to "make F feel unimportant" and "won't stop annoying the fuck out of him talking about C" and "I even moaned his stupid name on accident when we were having sex" (all his words!) and, despite my efforts, F and C never got along, now mostly on F's part (in fact, things got worse), which was really stressing.
Everything reached a limit when I told him we couldn't have sex anymore, because I was officially dating C and it was a closed thing, so we should stay platonic again. And he threw a big ass tantrum, saying I was replacing "someone I knew for 9 YEARS over someone I only knew for 3 stupid fucking months", and that "if I was lying to him the whole time I told him he was my favorite person and he was actually that replaceable for me, then I was way more horrible than he thought and that I should stop talking to him altogether". And I did. Not because I didn't loved him (this time truly platonically, we never had romantic feelings for each other), but because I got hurt by the fact he couldn't understand how much this meant to me. It was the first time I felt the so-called romantic love, it was all new, maybe I didn't managed it the best way, but. Come on.
TL;DR: My friend with benefits I knew for 9 years and was my favorite person got angry I "replaced" him for someone I fell in love with, which I knew for 3 months, and ended our friendship as soon as I started to actually date the guy I love.

Got any Fit brain worms? He's so underrated, Ramon too!
FITMC THE GAYEST MAN OF THEM ALL (/j /pos) I LOVE how Fit has portrayed his character.
He has so many trust issues but it gives his character so much depth????? Like, he didn't even call Ramon his son at first and Ramon didn't call him dad either, they were both happy with that.
BUT NOW THEY MEAN SO SO MUCH TO EACH OTHER AKSKSKEKE. Fit promising to make it out alive to tuck Ramon into bed :( MY BABIES
Plus, just every part of his relationship with Pac makes me SOB /pos
They're so soft and wholesome but are so comfortable with one another??? They're absolutely perfect and the slow burn was done so magnificently. They both have their own problems but they're also both there for each other when they need them :( and it's just so so beautiful. I love their relationship so much and I adore how silly and goofy they are together since they became official boyfriends.
Let's not forget how sweet Pac is with Ramon. They love each other much!!! FOUND FAMILY MY BELOVED. Ramon loves his dads sm :(( <33

What More Could I Ever Need prologue
Pairing: Benny Miller x F!reader (Tangled AU)
Summary: Tangled AU where Benny is in the role of Rapunzel (without the hair thing) and reader is basically a female Flynn Rider. A criminal running from the law and a boy who has lived locked up in a tower go on an adventure together. And yes, there is an animal sidekick.
Words: 1,012
Warnings: kidnap of a child
Notes: Why yes it is another Benny AU based on a movie where I have reversed the roles (I definitely have a problem). Presenting Disney prince Benny! And I sort of blame @madrefiero for making me obsessed with this idea because she keeps (unknowingly) feeding me with inspo pics but I truly love it. A billion thanks to @writeforfandoms who has listened me ramble about this way too much and read it through to soothe my nerves <33. Oh and the title is from a song that was supposed to be on the movie soundtrack but wasn't. I couldn't resist opening with "once upon a time" and I won't apologize. But after that I will get normal I promise.
The pic is pretty much what prince Ben looks like to me.
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Once upon a time there was a prosperous kingdom, ruled by a beloved king and queen. They had everything they could want, but there was a piece missing from their lives. Their dearest wish was to have a child, not just to have an heir, but a child to love.
After several years of hoping, the queen finally gave birth to a beautiful baby boy with golden hair, sparkling blue eyes, and the brightest smile. The day of the baby’s birth the sun shone so brightly that everyone present swore the new prince had been baptized with little drops of sunlight.
They weren’t wrong.
-
The little prince’s cheerful nature and sunshine energy seemed to only grow as he himself grew.
The queen simply doted on her son and refused to give him over to a nurse for more than what was absolutely necessary. She even put him to sleep every night by herself, holding her precious son close to her chest, singing him to sleep.
The queen sang to her child all the time, in fact, and at just a few months old he started humming tunes after his mother, mimicking the melodies. The first time that happened the queen felt like she had just drunk a cup of very strong coffee. Such was the joy of motherhood, she thought as she beamed at her son.
Month by month little Benjamin’s singing got stronger and stronger. And then one time the queen’s flu just disappeared when she was holding Ben and he hummed a melody to her. That was when she started believing there was something truly special about the boy. And it kept on happening until the nurse noticed it, the maids noticed it - even the palace cat seemed much more energetic after being petted by the humming baby.
And the word spread - as it so often does in big palaces like that. The staff talked amongst themselves, and then someone went home and told their family, who told their friend at the pub, and so on and so on.
Word of the rumored magical golden boy who possessed some kind of healing powers reached even the farthest corners of the kingdom. It so happened that they reached a woman who was struggling with the health issues getting older had brought along, and she wanted to see for herself if it really was true.
So she searched work as a cleaning maid at the castle. That way she was free to roam the palace unnoticed and gather information on the young prince.
One night she sneaked into the prince’s room through the balcony and tried to get him to sing to her. She held the baby in her arms and croaked a lullaby she knew.
And the baby started humming with her.
Instantly, she felt her pains going away. She felt younger even.
In that moment the woman made a decision - she would take the baby with her and raise him far away from the palace. Train his singing even more so that he could keep her young for years and years. The king and queen didn’t need this child’s magical powers, she reasoned, they were healthy and easily rich enough to afford any and all remedies if they happened to get sick.
And so she grabbed the baby from his crib and ran.
A palace guard saw her running away from the palace, only her cloak billowing behind her. He heard the baby’s cries getting farther from him with every step the woman took and realized what must have happened.
He alerted the other guards instantly, and they chased after the woman, but she had vanished. They searched for days through all the kingdom, but they could not find the young prince anywhere.
Eventually the king and queen had to tell the people to give up the search and admit that their son was probably in a land far away by now.
But they never gave up hope.
Every year on the prince’s birthday, the king and queen along with all the people in the kingdom released lanterns into the sky at night, partly as a prayer that their son would someday find his way back home, and partly to thank the sun for blessing their son with that drop of sunlight when he was born, the biggest gift they could have asked for.
--------
Meanwhile, little Benjamin grew up away from his parents, locked up in a tall tower hidden deep in a forest. The woman, Dagmar, who had kidnapped him raised him as her own, and fed him a new life story. By the time Benny was a little older, he had no memory of his true parents or true home and believed everything Dagmar had told him.
He was told that he could not go outside, because terrible things would happen to him; mean people would try to harm him. For Benny knew he was special, that his song could heal, and he knew that his mother only wanted to protect him. She explained to him that people had tried to do bad things to him when he was only a baby, and the thought scared him.
But that didn’t mean he didn’t sometimes long to go outside. Oh yes, he was curious; he wondered what it would be like if he ever went outside - would he be brave enough to face it?
-
Every year on his birthday Benny snuck out of his bedroom at night to go to the window and watch these odd lights flying across the sky.
For some reason he was drawn to them. Maybe it was because they showed up only on his birthdays, or maybe because they proved to him that there truly were other people somewhere out there. He didn’t really know what the lights were, or what they meant, but sometimes he thought they looked like drops of sunlight floating back towards the sleeping sun.
Those mysterious lights, more than anything else, made him dream about someday venturing outside to the real world.

getting along is encouraged
as brothers & sisters of faith & hope in Love, even though we share our differences.
the topic of Today’s chapter of the New Testament from the Letter of Romans with chapter 14:
[Unity in the Midst of Diversity]
Offer an open hand of fellowship to welcome every true believer, even though their faith may be weak and immature. And refuse to engage in debates with them concerning nothing more than opinions.
For example, one believer has no problem with eating all kinds of food, but another with weaker faith will eat only vegetables. The one who eats freely shouldn’t judge and look down on the one who eats only vegetables. And the vegetarian must not judge and look down on the one who eats everything. Remember, God has welcomed him and taken him as his partner.
Who do you think you are to sit in judgment of someone else’s household servant? His own master is the one to evaluate whether he succeeds or fails. And God’s servants will succeed, for God’s power supports them and enables them to stand.
In the same way, one person regards a certain day as more sacred than another, and another person regards them all alike. There is nothing wrong with having different personal convictions about such matters. For the person who observes one day as especially sacred does it to honor the Lord. And the same is true regarding what a person eats. The one who eats everything eats to honor the Lord, because he gives thanks to God, and the one who has a special diet does it to honor the Lord, and he also gives thanks to God.
No one lives to himself and no one dies to himself. While we live, we must live for our Master, and in death we must bring honor to him. So dead or alive we belong to our Master. For this very reason the Anointed One died and was brought back to life again, so that he would become the Lord God over both the dead and the living.
Why would you judge your brothers or sisters because of their diet, despising them for what they eat or don’t eat? For we each will have our turn to stand before God’s judgment seat. Just as it is written:
“As surely as I am the Living God, I tell you:
‘Every knee will bow before me
and every tongue will confess the truth
and glorify me!’ ”
Therefore, each one must answer for himself and give a personal account of his own life before God.
[Walking in Love]
So stop being critical and condemning of other believers, but instead determine to never deliberately cause a brother or sister to stumble and fall because of your actions.
I know and am convinced by personal revelation from the Lord Jesus that there is nothing wrong with eating any food. But to the one who considers it to be unclean, it is unacceptable. If your brother or sister is offended because you insist on eating what you want, it is no longer love that rules your conduct. Why would you wound someone for whom the Messiah gave his life, just so you can eat what you want? So don’t give people the opportunity to slander what you know to be good. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of rules about food and drink, but is in the realm of the Holy Spirit, filled with righteousness, peace, and joy. Serving the Anointed One by walking in these kingdom realities pleases God and earns the respect of others.
So then, make it your top priority to live a life of peace with harmony in your relationships, eagerly seeking to strengthen and encourage one another. Stop ruining the work of God by insisting on your own opinions about food. You can eat anything you want, but it is wrong to deliberately cause someone to be offended over what you eat. Consider it an act of love to refrain from eating meat or drinking wine or doing anything else that would cause a fellow believer to be offended or tempted to be weakened in his faith. Keep the convictions you have about these matters between yourself and God, and don’t impose them upon others. You’ll be happy when you don’t judge yourself in doing what your conscience approves. But the one who has misgivings feels miserable if he eats meat, because he doubts and doesn’t eat in faith. For anything we do that doesn’t spring from faith is, by definition, sinful.
The Letter of Romans, Chapter 14 (The Passion Translation)
Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments documents the death of Saul’s son Ish-Bosheth and David’s response to his murder:
[2nd Samuel 4]
Saul’s son, Ish-Bosheth, heard that Abner had died in Hebron. His heart sank. The whole country was shaken.
Ish-Bosheth had two men who were captains of raiding bands—one was named Baanah, the other Recab. They were sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, a Benjaminite. (The people of Beeroth had been assigned to Benjamin ever since they escaped to Gittaim. They still live there as resident aliens.)
It so happened that Saul’s son, Jonathan, had a son who was maimed in both feet. When he was five years old, the report on Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and ran, but in her hurry to get away she fell, and the boy was maimed. His name was Mephibosheth.
One day Baanah and Recab, the two sons of Rimmon, headed out for the house of Ish-Bosheth. They arrived at the hottest time of the day, just as he was taking his afternoon nap. They entered the house on a ruse, pretending official business. The maid guarding the bedroom had fallen asleep, so Recab and Baanah slipped by her and entered the room where Ish-Bosheth was asleep on his bed. They killed him and then cut off his head, carrying it off as a trophy. They traveled all night long, taking the route through the Arabah Valley.
They presented the head of Ish-Bosheth to David at Hebron, telling the king, “Here’s the head of Ish-Bosheth, Saul’s son, your enemy. He was out to kill you, but God has given vengeance to my master, the king—vengeance this very day on Saul and his children!”
David answered the brothers Recab and Baanah, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As surely as God lives—the One who got me out of every trouble I’ve ever been in—when the messenger told me, ‘Good news! Saul is dead!’ supposing I’d be delighted, I arrested him and killed him on the spot in Ziklag. That’s what he got for his so-called good news! And now you show up—evil men who killed an innocent man in cold blood, a man asleep in his own house! Don’t think I won’t find you guilty of murder and rid the country of you!”
David then issued orders to his soldiers. They killed the two—chopped off their hands and feet, and hung the corpses at the pool in Hebron. But Ish-Bosheth’s head they took and buried in Abner’s tomb in Hebron.
The Book of 2nd Samuel, Chapter 4 (The Message)
my personal reading of the Scriptures for Saturday, October 24 of 2020 with a paired chapter from each Testament along with Today’s Psalms and Proverbs
A set of posts by John Parsons to accompany Today’s reading of the Scriptures:
"Whoever battles with monsters had better see to it that it does not turn him into a monster" (Nietzsche). A God-fearing man once complained to a sage that he was tormented by evil desire and had become despondent over it. The sage listened intently and then said, "Guard yourself from such despondency above all else, for it is worse than sin. When the yetzer [evil impulse] awakens desire in us, it is not concerned with plunging us into sin, but with plunging us into despair by way of our sinning."
We recall the words of James the Righteous: "Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. Do not be deceived..." (James 1:14-16). In other words, sin begins with selfish desire, but the “fruit” or “end” of sin is death, understood as separation from life, healing, love, peace, and so on. Sin "crouches" at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it (Gen. 4:7).
How we choose to think inevitably leads to decisions and actions... In our warfare against the yetzer and the devil, we must be sure to rely upon God's love and grace, lest we find ourselves fighting “evil with evil,” thereby amusing the powers of darkness... Tzedek tzedek tirdorf (צֶדֶק צֶדֶק תִּרְדּף) means that we must pursue righteousness righteously (Deut. 16:20). Some people seem to be so afraid that sin and evil will overtake them that they quite forget to exercise caution that they resist sin and evil in sinful ways... May God help us to see our sin and our battle against evil only in the light of His glorious Presence. [Hebrew for Christians]

The Scriptures teach us that the most essential truth about life, the “core” of Reality, the very essence of Being itself, is not something objective to be studied (a "what") but Someone intimately to be known (a "Who"), experienced by the revelation of the Heart of God, the Divine Love that is willing to be wounded, to suffer, and even to die for your sake so that you may know that you are beloved, chosen, and treasured of heaven... There are innumerable attributes, names, and titles ascribed to the LORD God in Scripture, but His essence is described as Love itself (1 John 4:16). Indeed, God’s heart is the beginning, middle, and end of Reality (אֱמֶת), but if your theology somehow leads you away from this all-encompassing and great truth, you’ve missed the point of it all... Shabbat Shalom, chaverim! [Hebrew for Christians]

Today’s message from the Institute for Creation Research:
October 24, 2020
Regeneration
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:6)
Perhaps the greatest purpose of Christianity is to take that which is only flesh and see it reborn as Spirit—to see spiritual life born where before there was only death. But then, even in the most mature of believers, there remain aspects of the old nature mixed in with—even at war with—the new. In frustration Paul cried, “I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me” (Romans 7:21). But each Christian should, through the power of God, be winning that war.
Christ came to regenerate the spiritual side of people. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2).
Too many Christians still have their spirits buried deeply within the flesh, having “yielded [their] members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity” (Romans 6:19). But Christ came to change all that. “God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:3-4).
Through faith, “according to his abundant mercy [He] hath begotten us again” (1 Peter 1:3). To “beget” means to reproduce a like kind. Since He has “begotten us,” we should be becoming like Him in attitudes and aims. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5).
“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). This is the object of Christianity. JDM

God Can Help You Solve Severely Matted Tangled Knotty Hair.
All of us have unique types and textures of hair- even if it is severely matted and tangled with knots.  Matted hair is like a heavy weight of bondage on you shoulders- that one has to carry around all day.   God has put a special light in all of us that needs to shine.  When your hair is matted your shine is so dim. There is a darkness around anyone with very matted tangled knotty hair. They feel sad, cranky, ugly and broken hearted about their hair.
Depression does damage to the health, hair, body and spirit Everyone knows that people with matted tangled knots in their hair are not very joyful.   Matted tangled hair gives you no peace day or night.  During the day it’s like caring a stone on your head.  At night its like sleeping on a painful hard rock.  It is so very depressing and frustrating.  People just do not seem to understand-they just want you to cut all your hair off!
God gives us wisdom for everything if you ask.  You can request for assistance in prayer always.  Why else would God give wisdom for life’s serious situations to be resolved.  As well as the  wisdom to solve knotty difficult problems.  Here are Bible verses to help understand how God wants to help you with your issues in life –including your matted tangled hair.
Proverbs 2:6-  Amplified Bible   6 For the LORD gives [skillful and godly] wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.  Daniel 5: 12 -Amplified Bible, Classic Edition  12 Because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, clarify riddles, and solve knotty problems were found in this same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.  James 1:5  Amplified Bible-  5 If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.  Exodus 35:31  Amplified Bible- 31 and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom and skill, with intelligence and understanding, and with knowledge in all [areas of] craftsmanship.  Daniel 2:23  -Amplified Bible   23 “I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers,  For You have given me wisdom and power;  Even now You have made known to me what we requested of You,.  Ephesians 1:17-  Amplified Bible   17 [I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son].
Despite your heartbreaking hair situation- God wants you to be well and have peace.  Strive to have peace and wellness.  Matted tangled hair gives you no peace day or night.  During the day it’s like caring a stone on your head.  At night its like sleeping on a painful hard rock.  It is so very depressing and frustrating.  People just do not seem to understand-they just want you to cut all your hair off!
Well the Bible tells you how God wants you to have peace.  John 14:27 -Amplified Bible   27 Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]  2 Corinthians 13:11-Amplified Bible   11 Finally, believers, rejoice! Be made complete [be what you should be], be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace [enjoy the spiritual well-being experienced by believers who walk closely with God]; and the God of love and peace [the source of loving kindness] will be with you.  Philippians 4:6-7- Amplified Bible    6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].  Psalm 119:165- Amplified Bible    165 Those who love Your law have great peace;  Nothing makes them stumble.  Luke 24:36-37  - Amplified Bible     36 While they were talking about this, Jesus Himself [suddenly] stood among them and said to them, “Peace be to you.” 37 But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a spirit.
Everyone knows that people with matted tangled knots in their hair are not very joyful.  In fact they are cranky all the time-trying to be happy.  How can you be full of joy with hard knots pressing on your scalp day and night or matted clumps staring at you in the mirror?  Jesus wants you to have joy.
Well the Bible tells you how Jesus wants you to have Joy.  John 15:10-12   - Amplified Bible   10 If you keep My commandments and obey My teaching, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. 11 I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing.  Romans 15:13  - Amplified Bible   13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.  Psalm 20:4-5 -  Amplified Bible   4 May He grant you your heart’s desire And fulfill all your plans.  5 We will sing joyously over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners.  May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.  Galatians 5:22-23   -Amplified Bible   22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Depression does damage to the health, hair, body and spirit.  People with depression and matted tangled knotted hair are sad and sometimes do not want to be around others because they are depressed about their hair.  They do not want people asking why, when, how did this happen to your hair.  They do not have the answers- they just want the solution NOW!    God wants you to have healthy hair, body and spirit.
Well the Bible tells you how God wants you to have health.  Proverbs 17:22-  Amplified Bible   22 A happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing,But a broken spirit dries up the bones.  Jeremiah 30:17  -Amplified Bible   17 ‘For I will restore health to you. And I will heal your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they have called you an outcast, saying:  “This is Zion; no one seeks her and no one cares for her.”’  Jeremiah 33:6  -Amplified Bible   6 Behold, [in the restored Jerusalem] I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace (prosperity, security, stability) and truth.  3 John 2  -Amplified Bible   2 Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].
God appreciates the value of the hair you have. All of us have unique types and textures of hair- even if it is severely matted and tangled with knots.  There is glory and honor in the hair.  God wants you to be at peace and comb your hair.  Everyone has a right to enjoy combing their hair.   Well the Bible tells you how God and Jesus express that there is value in your hair.  Luke 12:7-  King James Version  7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:30 - Amplified Bible   30 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered [for the Father is sovereign and has complete knowledge].  Luke 21:18   -Amplified Bible   18 But not a hair of your head will perish.  1 Corinthians 11:15  -Amplified Bible   15 but if a woman has long hair, it is her ornament and glory? For her long hair is given to her as a covering.  Proverbs 20:29  -Amplified Bible   29  The glory of young men is their [physical] strength,  And the honor of aged men is their gray head [representing wisdom and experience].  Acts 27:34 - Amplified Bible   34 So I urge you to eat some food, for this is for your survival; for not a hair from the head of any of you will perish.”
God has put a special light in all of us that needs to shine.  When your hair is matted your shine is so dim. There is a darkness around anyone with very matted tangled knotty hair.  They feel ugly and broken hearted about their hair.  Some people feel guilty about the whole situation.  Tangled Matted hair is like chains of bondage on you head.  Well the Bible tells you how Jesus was sent as a light of life to heal the broken hearted and free us from bondage. Luke 2:10  -  King James Version    10 And the angel said unto them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  Luke 4:18-19   -  King James Version   18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor. He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,  John 8:12 -Amplified Bible  - Jesus Is the Light of the World  12 Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “[a]I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
Isaiah 61:1-2  -Amplified Bible   Exaltation of the Afflicted   61 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed and commissioned me to bring good news to the humble and afflicted;  He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted,  To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives.  And freedom to prisoners,   2  To proclaim [a]the favorable year of the LORD,  [b]And the day of vengeance and retribution of our God, To comfort all who mourn, .

Divine Conspiracy 11: Living Without Anger | Dallas Willard
Getting rid of anger, contempt, & cultivated lust.
Now I hope you understand the importance of thinking this is an intelligent man who knew what HE was talking about. So now HE's giving a talk & HE’s dealing with the issues, so there’s going to be an order in there.
1.] Why does HE start with anger?
Answer: Because anger is the most fundamental       problem in human life.
      Now systematically it’s not.
But it is the most fundamental problem, if you are       aiming to transform people.
      You have to start there.
JESUS is not writing a theory; HE can leave that       to later people.
Everyone from St. Augustine to Dietrich Bonhoeffer & others.       We need the theory, but HE’s not doing that.
St. Augustine of Hippo (A.D. 354 - 430) was an Algerian-Roman philosopher & theologian of the late Roman / early Medieval period. He is one of the most important early figures in the development of Western Christianity, & was a major figure in bringing Christianity to dominance in the previously pagan Roman Empire.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German evangelical pastor, theologian, anti-Nazi dissident, & key founding member of the Confessing Church. His writings on Christianity's role in the secular world have become widely influential, & his book The Cost of Discipleship has been described as a modern classic.
1a] HE is founding a community of redemption.
       >> HIS project is to change people.
And the theory is there, it’s all in the background.
Love: Love of GOD, love of man.
Love of neighbour that’s been developing.
Laws that are expressions of that, which has been developing for centuries.
1b] But that’s not going to help a person who’s down here       in the guts of life. Flailing about, caught up in their own       anger or other blind feelings.
Trying to medicate, perhaps to get out of them.
Or letting them fly & brutalizing everyone around them, by       violent language & emotions, & actions.
That’s not going to do it.
So that’s why HE starts here.
Tumblr media
2.] Sermon on Anger: Go the Extra Mile
Now then as HE goes on, and,...       Let’s suppose you start, & let’s say you say:
“I’m going to start at..verse 41: ‘Go with him two’”       [Passage, v.38-42: Go the Extra Mile]
Tumblr media
You won’t do well with that unless you’ve       dealt with anger & contempt first.
2a] That’s actually probably talking about a Jewish person, who       is being forced by a Roman soldier to carry a load for 1 mile.
Because that is what you could be required to do according       to the Roman government.
And JESUS is saying something unbelievably radical. ****
A Roman was an uncircumcised pig. If a Jew went into a       Roman household or had close connections with a Roman       they were unclean, they could not participate in religious rituals.
They couldn’t come into certain kinds of company for 3 days.
2b] Would you say that is dissing? I would say it’s dissing.
Now if you haven’t gotten out of your dissing mode, & if you’re       in your anger mode, you’re probably going to diss because       they’re closely connected.
You’re not going to do anything with this.
Tumblr media
3.] Sermon on Anger: Turn the other cheek
You’re not going to anything with the person who slapped       you on the one cheek, & now JESUS is saying:
      “Now turn the other one.”
Because you’re full of anger, you’re full of contempt.
      >> Probably because you’re full of lusting.
      So you can’t do it.
These statements of JESUS are ordered in a progressive way.
And so you have to understand the fundamental character of       these 1st two sets of things that we gave on the list a moment ago.
And these are covered in v.21-32: Murder begins in the heart.
Tumblr media
4.] Sermon on Anger: The Nature of Anger
So now, let’s go back & work on anger.       We talked a little about it earlier, but now we have to go deeper.
We’ve said somethings like anger is not in itself wrong. But it is very likely to lead to wrong.
The person quick to anger is a dangerous person.
4.a] For example, when Paul in Titus 1:7 is talking about the       requirements for elders, bishops, & leaders.
One of the requirements that he lays down is that they       are not soon angry, they don’t get angry quickly.
Titus 1:7 | As GOD’s steward, an overseer must be above reproach—not self-absorbed, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not greedy for money.
1 Timothy 3:2-3 | An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not dependent on wine, not violent but gentle, peaceable, & free of the love of money.
That’s right next door to not given to much wine.
4b] Love described in 1 Corinthians 13, you remember one of       the things about it is, is it not easily provoked.
1 Corinthians 13:5 | It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs.
1 Corinthians 10:33 | just as I try to please everyone in all I do. For I am not seeking my own good, but the good of many, that they may be saved.
Can it be provoked? Yeah, but it’s not easily provoked.
And it doesn’t stay provoked, if you remember how love       is described there. It doesn’t keep score.
It lays things down; let’s grudges go.
Tumblr media
4.1] Nature of Anger: The Will to Harm
You see anger is dangerous       because it gets us on a path that       leads us to things that harm others.
So now let me go a little deeper here, into anger, &       bear with me please.
Anger actually is the will to harm.
         >> That’s why when someone is angry at you,                you already feel hurt. Isn’t that true?
I’ve yet to find someone who even likes to be honked at.       You like to be honked at?
      What does a honk mean?
Did you ever think you’d be caught in a situation       discussing what a honk means?
Well I mean they would be words like:       ‘you idiot get out of my way.’
Right? I mean that’s a mild version.       Maybe that’s a Christian version..someone driving to Church.
Tumblr media
4.2] Nature of Anger: The Announcement of Pain
It’s very interesting because anger is built, & actually when you       understand this..this is the part what anger really does:
Is announce to us that       something needs to be changed.
Now we don’t need to be wrong about that,       but that’s what it announces.
Anger in the emotional realm is like       pain in the physical realm.
Actually anger is a kind of pain; it’s an uncomfortable feeling.
Like when you step on a nail, you feel pain in your foot.       And what that tells you is: something is wrong.
Pain tells you something is wrong & needs to be changed.
Tumblr media
4.3] Nature of Anger: Path towards Harm
So the essence of anger is the will to push, & if necessary       to move you & to harm you even.
Then when people get caught up in anger, they set themselves       on a course of harm. And that’s where murder comes from.
I don’t know if you remember: Jacob when he came to die, he       said to his two sons (Levi & Simon) I don’t want my soul to have       anything to do with you.
I don’t want my blessing to get messed up with you, because       you are angry people & you kill others. And you slay animals.
      >> These are people who are possessed by anger.
Tumblr media
4.4] Nature of Anger: Crossing of the Will
Ecclesiastes 7:9 says, “Anger resides in the heart of fools.”
Ecclesiastes 7:9 | Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger settles in the lap of a fool.
James 1:19 | My beloved brothers, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, & slow to anger,
Proverbs 14:17 | A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, & a devious man is hated.
That doesn’t mean everyone who is angry is a fool.
      >> It means if you find a fool, you’ll find some anger.
A fool is a heavy word in the Scripture.       So we need to think deeply about the nature of anger.
And we need to understand where that anger is caused       by our will being crossed—doesn’t matter how trivial it is.
Ex. You know out here in LA we shoot people over          parking in the wrong place.
It doesn’t matter how trivial, if it crosses my will & I am a       person who is given to unrestrained anger—I will do anything       to carry out that anger.
Tumblr media
4.5] Nature of Anger: Insult to Your Kingdom
Basically it’s an insult to your kingdom.       >> What causes it is your will is being crossed.
Haven’t you been around people who, for no reason at all       will just fly into a rage?
It doesn’t have to be something big, it just       has to be experienced in a certain way.
Some people just come to the point       where they are angry people.
Sin starts out as a choice, becomes habit, then it’s automatic, eventually it’s your new identity, & finally it’s your nature. [CHAIN’ed to sin]
Sin is a chain reaction that enslaves you & it’s deadly. JESUS came to provide freedom from your bondage to sin.
They don’t necessarily have to have anything,       to be angry at. [The Hulk, “I’m always angry”]
But when they get into that position.       Then the smallest thing, don’t we talk that way?
We say, “The smallest thing will set them off.”
That’s because you always have a will & a certain condition.       [This is why we must die to self, eventually fall prey to our       sinful desires, ones we keep feeding our minds, James 1:15]
      That is what causes anger.
4.6] Nature of Anger: Position of Anger
And we want to say that anger is not a sin.       It is something that is natural..like pain.
But only if you have rock solid Christian character, can you       keep you safe with anger.
And often people will say: “Well GOD gets angry, well that’s       alright, GOD can handle it; you can bet on HIS character.
They say, didn’t JESUS get angry when HE made the whip,       & went into the Temple. Yeah again I can trust JESUS with       stuff I wouldn’t trust myself with.
Now we do have situations where, people do not have any       other way of handling things; & they become angry &       sometimes it leads to incarceration change.
In some situations we should say, while anger may not be       the best course of action, it is better than some other things.
We often have people, who feel for example: “If you’re not          angry about certain kinds of injustices, that you couldn’t          possibly be right. Either you’re brain dead or your heart’s          not in the right place.”
And there’s something to be said for that.
Perhaps things do become so bad that in some situations          the only way is to let anger explode. ****
4.7] Nature of Anger: Not the Best
But I really want say, it’s not the best way of handling things.
And if you come to that, what will invariably happen is: the       anger will evoke anger on the other side.
Unless you’ve got someone over there that is rock solid       Christian character, which is unlikely though they think       they may have it.
      You’re surprised aren’t you? Right.
So we’re not talking about repressing anger, we’re not talking       about denying anger. Those are bad things.
We’re talking about not being angry.
And still, being able to stand for what is right. Be solid.       >> Stand to the death if necessary.
That may even reach over to things like warfare.
But if war is inevitable, or necessary in some circumstances,       it is still true that anger & contempt are not (necessary).
And you will certainly recognize that warfare conducted in       anger & contempt is many times worse because of that.
5.] Position of Anger: Not Necessary
So we can say that everything you can do with anger       you can do better without.
You may have to learn how to do that.
If you act without anger, you’re going to have to educate others,       that you really do mean what you say [though you’re not angry].
And in many respects human beings just live at a level where,       if you don’t act angry they’ll think you don’t mean what you say.
And there’s so much that a CEO’s who rule their operation by       the threat of being angry; & people would sort of drag along       until that came over the horizon. Then when they’d get angry       they’d start to move.
You see this living without anger is a matter of reeducating       everyone around you, including yourself.
Especially if you’re in a position of responsibility.
6.] Danger of Anger
The danger of anger is it’s always righteous in the moment.
It’s very rare that you’ll ever meet someone who doesn’t       think their anger is completely justified.
Moreover their anger makes them think       they are justified in what they do in anger.
So that keeps us from being critical.
7.] Anger is a Feeling: Easily Justified
Anger is a feeling, & all feelings when they come up, they       don’t raise the question of: Am I right?
Thoughts & beliefs tend to do that.
But feelings simply tends to stand there in your face &       yammer at you.

Some of you are wondering what all the hoopla is about Easter. And some of you didn't even feel like celebrating when you've lost so much and when you've even lost dear loved ones to the ravages of the coronavirus. And I completely understand. Overwhelming hurt & loss can leave you emotionally numb and wondering exactly where is this God who calls himself "Immanuel". Why doesn't He act? Why hasn't He helped? And why hasn't He answered my prayers? First of all, Jesus never promised to magically solve every single material problem we deal with on this earth. In fact in John 16:33 (NIV) he said, "In this world you will have trouble..". He knew that people would still face challenges and heartaches in their lifetime because we live in a fallen world that is bound by sin and decay. (Adam & Eve's original disobedience ruined part of the paradise that was God's intent, but don't be too hard on them. Every single one of us would have made the same foolish choice.) And God has also given each of us free will, so often individuals and nations alike make decisions that hurt us and endanger the lives of countless others. It's no wonder Job 5:7 says, "man is born to trouble" (NIV), and it's no surprise that the wise author of the book of Ecclesiastes admonished us to choose contentedness and even joy in our temporary time here on earth. Notice I used the word "temporary". This world is not the be all, end all, because every single one of us is destined for eternity. (And exactly where you will spend it is entirely up to you.) Ecclesiastes 3:12 (NIV) says, "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end." It's true that sometimes difficulties we face can strengthen our character if we allow it and sometimes a job loss can light a fire under us to learn even more & become so much more than we ever imagined we could be. It often happens that living with a disability can give us a new perspective or even living with a prolonged health problem can isolate us from the frenzy of our normal lives & make us all the more receptive to just listening. And living and dying will continue to be a part of our experience while we're on this earth. But I don't claim to have all the answers. I still have questions about things I've been through, as I'm sure you do as well. There is much that happens in our lives that our limited human intellect cannot understand. And there are questions without explanation for which we may not receive answers on this side of heaven. We don't see the big picture like God does and we just can't fathom how He can work His good purposes through all the chaos we may face. But I suppose that's where trust & faith comes in. Yes, it's natural for us to tend to become bitter & frustrated when we lose so much. We can even lose our faith in a God who doesn't seem to answer our prayers on-demand. Of course, the Almighty can still heal the sick and bring resurrections today. (…but in our current culture often characterized by such arrogance, disregard for God, and lack of faith, I wonder if He would. See Mark 6:1-6 for an example of how Jesus responded where there was such little faith.) But if He doesn't do a miracle for you, how will you respond? If God remains silent, will you turn your back on Him and all that is good? Perhaps God sees an unstoppable faith in you that He wants to draw out, just as He did with the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28. Though she pleaded with Jesus to heal his daughter, he "did not answer a word" (NIV). Yet she would not let go and she would not back down until Jesus responded, and respond He did by enthusiastically granting her request & commending her faith. Prayer isn't about being eloquent or about mouthing a lot of empty words. It's about being sincere & showing God respect, and it often involves a whole lot of persistence. And what about the example of Job? Although he suffered the loss of all his wealth & means of production and the deaths of his beloved children all in one day, broken as he was he still fell to the ground in worship and said, "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." (Job 1:21b NIV). Job couldn't understand the cosmic significance of his severe suffering, which would later include the loss of his own health, but in the end God restored what had been taken from him. I don't know your personal story or how much you've lost. But consider the following: There are two times I can remember in the Bible when Jesus was amazed by people. One was when he was almost in disbelief at almost an entire town's lack of faith (Mark 6:1-6) and the other was when he was amazed by the simple, childlike faith of a Roman centurion. So I wonder, which of the two will characterize your life? A disgusting unbelief that short-circuits God's blessings or an unshakeable faith that impresses the Creator of the universe? Can this be a generation that's known for more than its tech gadgets & social media savvy? Will we be a people of unshakeable faith no matter what may come our way? And for those of you wondering what all the fuss is concerning Easter, it's the day we celebrate how Jesus decisively solved our sin problem. Before the Son of God came to earth, and lived, died & rose again, our heart issues were like a sickness without a cure. Following the Old Testament laws perfectly was impossible for us humans, and our own good works could never be enough to earn us a place in God's heavenly paradise. But out of love, Jesus bore the penalty for our crimes against God and made a way for us to be reconciled with the Father. You don't have to live a life separated from God anymore, and you don't have to walk alone anymore. Romans 10:9 (NIV) shows us all it takes is a simple, heartfelt prayer: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Take that leap of faith and you'll personally experience God with you.

Justice for DC and YA Heroes Panel
Tumblr media
Sarah J. Maas = Catwoman (2018)
Selena's friends are meant to draw her out from her guarded nature and be a teen in the way she wasn't able to before because of who she had to take care of
Selena is toward the later end of the teen, age spectrum
It is dual POV (or multi)
There is a character named Lucas Fox, the son of Lucius Fox
I KNOW RIGHT LUCAS = LUCIEN, FOX !!!! I HAD THE SAME WTF OH MY GOD MOMENT
Selena is a bit "quiet" and guarded because of the people she has protected from a young age and growing up so quickly
SJM continually referenced Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn (maybe something important)
Her favorite version of Cat woman is Michelle Phipher
She kept her in mind when drafting the book but when she started writing her version of Selena is much different that the way Phipher portrayed Selena
SJM doesn't outline her books, LIKE DOES NOT, so when she was told she had to send DC a three page synopsis of what the book was going to be about she was nervous
But then when she started writing she just didn't stop and it ended up being 23 (or maybe 33) pages
She advises to not wear leather in July
Selena's new suit is more "breathable"
She has just sent in/gotten back feedback on her first round of edits
This summer will be a BIG focus on Cat woman edits
Marie Lu = Batman (2017)
ANIMATED SERIES OF BATMAN ALL THE WAY
She wished she could have included Dick Grayson (Nightwing) but he would have been a baby
"He would have been Night Baby"
Bruce's bad "guy" is a girl who may or may not be going to his school and is "dark"
A big thing she had to work on was teenage Bruce since she kept going to adult Bruce because that was what she knew of
Something she worked with was the idea that he is a billionaire orphan and trying to make his sound teenage-ish
Bruce fights with figuring out who wants to be friends with him because of who he is vs. who wants to be friends with him because of his name (Wayne) and his money
Just sent in the last of the edits I believe
First time she has written in Third Person POV
Arkahm is now on the outskirts of Gotham
Had talked to herself when she is alone "I AM BATMAN"
Did not read the attachment when signing on to do the project
Binged watched Batman everything for a day with her husband for research
Matt de la Pena = Superman (2018)
Fun to incorporate some of his own immigrant experience into the story
HISPANIC LOVE INTEREST
Maybe awkward flirting scene between Clark and a girl in a diner  (one of his favorite scenes)
Fun to find what is it like to be a teenager figuring out/developing/experimenting with new found abilities
Clark is a football player who can score every time
A question for him when he as writing was "what would it be like if Clark (being he muscular and athletic kid that he is) befriend the scrawny and 'weak' kid"
He is on his first round of edits
He worked with developing why and how Clark developed his golden compass good
Leigh Bardugo = Wonder Woman: Warbringer (August 29, 2017)
She loved WW when she was younger but then fell out of love with her as she grew up because of some of the impossibilities of that world. And it took her a while to fall back/find why she loved WW in the first place
Don't worry she is head over heals in love with her now
So the Amazons are not a Stone Age civilization
She created it so that any brace woman who died in combat and prayed to a female goddess in her last dying breathes could become an Amazon
Thus making it so that the Amazons are a bit more updated
Like with cars
WW's crew is a mix of ethnicities, genders and sexual orientations (not 100% sure on this but it was heavily alluded to)
Along with a jab at, fighting modern day issues and problems like an Orange chetto
One of the people that WW interacts with is: Alia
A descendant of Helen of Troy (a war bringer that is hated upon by many) that WW wants to help and show that she can be good
There may be a game of truth or dare with the lasso of truth
WW does need to be taught slang
WW may have a love interest
WW is told in dual POV
WW and Alia
WW is still the duagher of the Queen but is not beloved by all, some see her as an abomination
WW is the only Amazon that has not proven herself in battle and thus runs away at night to do so (the start of her journey)
Leigh Bardugo created some of her own Amazons because she wasn't able to use some characters she wanted to
WW is a mix between model and knight in shining armor
It felt good to write a character that was genuinely good
For all of them is was weird having someone to run everything by, to have to be approved to include certain characters. To not step over bounds and not be able to go back into that world they "created" once they finished the book.

Hero
Chapter 2/??
Relationship: Todoroki Shouto x Reader (Your/Name), (Full/Name)
Summit: It all begin at the Sports Festival when Shouto’s other half met Endevour by mistake. The student never thought to see his partner fight against his father just to show him that he is wrong. It started from that instant, Shouto’s new path started exactly from that moment thanks to his friends and his beloved one.
 ---
When Shouto and Midoriya come back with Aizawa, they are mute and the teacher forced them to apologize to the class to waste precious time. Due to that accident, it’s impossible to do something, even if Aizawa yell at them and the class falls silent, nobody is focused on the lesson, so when the teacher can end the lesson earlier, he does so. Shouto leaves greeting you but he’s not going to wait for you, he doesn’t want to have you near him now, he’s just afraid to scare you if you see what a terrifying face he’s hiding.
Just to be sure that he don’t feel alone, you text him.
[Shouto, I know you’re fighting against something big but I will be always with you, you know that, right? When you want to talk about it, call me anytime even in the middle of the night, I’ll support you with everything I have. I love you, I really mean it. See you tomorrow.]
Midoriya arrives late, he’s escaped from the scold in the morning, now that the school is over, his punishment is even harder.
<<I’m sorry (Y/N)-chan, professors scold me longer than I thought.>> the little greenish student runs towards you, <<I’m sorry to keep you waiting so much!>>
<<Don’t worry, you only did the right thing.>> both of you start to walk, <<Let’s eat somewhere.>>
<<I don’t have much money with me to->>
<<I pay.>>
<<No->>
<<Don’t try to win over me green boy.>> she stopped him right away, <<I pay and you choose the place, how about that?>>
<<What’s that new nickname by the way? I guess this is fairer… Ok, let’s go.>>
Midoriya chooses a fast food; it’s cheap so he can’t feel so guilty about making pay everything to a girl. After order something, the students sit and start to talk about what happened. Izuku tries to explain everything and then adds his feedback, he’s sincerely revealed to see that she’s listening carefully, the more he spends time with her, the more he thinks that she’s really a kind person. Shouto is so lucky to have someone like her.
<<And that’s all. I think something bad is going on.>>
<<First of all, I apologize for what Shouto did.>> the girl bows, <<I’m really sorry, Izuku.>>
<<Absolutely! Raise your head, you don’t need to do that!>> the boy moves his hands panicky, <<I honestly think that was my fault too. I stopped Todoroki-kun but I should stop the other guy. I was scared that Todoroki-kun would get in trouble so I moved towards him first. I guess the punch was my price.>>
<<Please don’t joke about this.>> your gaze is serious, <<You know well how I think about our behaviors. We’re heroes, people choose us as an example, as a guide, we can’t go straight to use violence. How kids will react? I always fight with words and strategies before use my quirk. And I think I can understand how Shouto feels right now.>>
<<What do you mean?>>
<<Well, one of the many reasons why I don’t use my quirk is because I don’t think is heroic. Even his name is creepy and I hope that my hero name will deflect that image.>>
<<Really? I don’t think so. You’re a kind girl, pretty tall for a woman, you’re very reliable.>>
<<I guess you don’t understand if you don’t see it.>> you murmured drinking the beverage, <<Ok, I get it. I try my best to help Shouto and if I fail, Izuku, I want you to shock him in the way that only you can do.>>
<<W-what? D-do you really think I can do that?>> the boy opens the door of the fast food to let you go first, “Todoroki-kun was cold with everyone from the start, so… How can I do that?”
The two students walk until they reach the sub and take the same line. During the way, neither of you dare to talk, Izuku is checking his phone thinking about many things, while you’re listening to music just to relax a bit. When the green boy is ready to get off, the girl speaks to him from inside the train.
<<Midoriya Izuku.>> he turns towards you, <<You should get rid of that image that everyone sticks on you. I’m not insulting you, I would never do that to a dear friend, I just want you to understand your true potential. I’m sure you can do what I’ve said before. If you think that I’m strong, then think what you are if I ask your help.>>
<<……>>
<<’night.>> the doors shut closed and the train starts to move again, leaving All Might’s pupil alone.
He walks at home surrounded by the silence, he never stops to think at those words. He thought that you were a simple person, but that’s not it anymore. What did you see in him to say that he is scary? What did you saw in him to be strong enough to shock Endevour’s son? He’s controlling his quirk by miracle, what he can do to help his classmates?
Meanwhile in the train, you feel the phone buzzing, so you take it out the pocket and check what was that. It’s a notification, Shouto replied to your message.
[(Y/N)… I’m really sorry that I couldn’t walk with you, but I’m not feeling well these days… My father is stressing me out about the Sports Festival issue, the training is getting harder and I can barely stay here. I’m aware that I’m being stupid to you, my love, but I really don’t want you to see me like this. I don’t know until when I can take all of this… I’m sorry that I keep rejecting your help, I don’t know how to explain these feelings…]
You were right, is his father again. Shouto is not good to deal with his feelings yet, but when he loses control like hours ago, is always Endevour’s fault.
[Shouto, if that place is suffocating you, you can always stay at the dormitory or come to my place. My door is always open for you, so don’t stress yourself so much, ok? And don’t be sorry, I know how you feel, and I know it’s not easy to deal with it too.]
His respond is a bit late, maybe he was finding the right words to use and make you understand him better.
[Yeah, it’s very hard…]
[I’ll support you, so stay by my side all the time, ok? Don’t think about your father, talk to me, think of me, I’ll do everything I can to make you smile again, I promise. Tomorrow is the grand day, so let’s do our best to get super cool requests by super cool heroes! If something happens or you have problem to sleep, you have my number so use it properly, silly. Good night my beloved Shouto, I love you.]
When you go to bed, he answers with just a “I love you too.”. You would sleep but you are so angry with that piece of garbage, how can you do something so unheroic against your own child! One thing is sure, if you meet him at the festival, you’re gonna punch the shit out of him, he was born just to get on your nerves, there isn’t another explanation about his existence.
“No, that’s too much. It will affect my hero career so, let’s not fuck him up. Let’s think a way to help Shouto.”

Collection of Opinions: Roman Reigns.
Here is a new Opinion on a wrestler chosen by you. Yesterday, both Roman and Becky were equal, so I wanted to leave active the poll for a day so as to guarantee a "winner." So, you chose the last remaining Shield person, a beautiful, long-haired man: Roman Reigns. Leati Joseph Anoa'i (Roman Reigns’ real name) was born in May 25, 1985, he’s part of a family of wrestlers. He is half Samoan and half Italian, he is Sika's son, one of his brothers was Rosey, his cousins are the Usos (Jimmy and Jey) and The Rock is his distant relative. Roman has no past in the indies, but previously Joe was a football player, where he had a good career. In 2010 he retired from football and signed a contract with WWE, who sent him to FCW to train. Here he adopts the name of Leakee: her rivalries begin and her character is, initially, a businessman. In FCW, he often fights in the Tag Team category, although he has several single matches: remember Triple Threat Match had against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (a far echo of Battleground 2016), Leakee wins this match but he doesn’t win the title to the final. When FCW changes name to NXT, Seth Rollins and Leakee go to NXT, while Dean Ambrose will do some house show. Leakee then makes matches before he debuts. In fact, he will change both name (Roman Reigns) and character: he then debuts on November 18, 2012 at Survivor Series, along with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The three form a new and powerful stable: the Shield. If Seth was "the architect" and he was very technical in his moves; Dean was the "promo guy" and unpredictable in the actions; Roman was the "strong man", the one who doesn’t speak and wants to hits. Roman and Seth become Tag Team champions at Extreme Rules (At the same event, Dean becomes US Champion). The first three worked for Paul Heyman and CM Punk, then joined the Authority. Roman will participate in the Royal Rumble, establishing the record of eliminations (12). There will be a period of uncertainty in the Shield, but then the three will clarify their problems and become "face", so loved by the public. After Seth Rollins’ betrayal, Roman and Dean will continue to work together, though not in the same team. Curiosity: Seth and Dean changed ring attires and entrances; Roman kept the ring attire he wore during the Shield and he adopted a slightly modified version of the Shield's song entrance. Even for a period of time, he came in the ring from the audience, but he had to change it for safety issues. After the dissolution of the Shield, Roman points to the most important title, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, having various feuds also with the same Rollins (remember WM 31) and winning the Royal Rumble 2015. When Seth has a knee injury, Roman participates in the title's tournament and, refusing Triple H's offer, wins the title, defeating Dean Ambrose at the finals. (The two show mutually respect through a hug). It will have a feud that will also involve Mr.Mcmahon, and the fans will love him for a short time Reigns. In fact, Roman's main problem is the public's reaction, which doesn’t accept Roman, but wants another in his place (Dean Ambrose mainly, the most beloved.) After losing the title in the Royal Rumble, he will regain it at WM 32 against Triple H. He will continue to be whistled and questioned by the audience, but he receives support from both fans and colleagues (In particular, and I like to remember it, from Dean) At MITB 2016, Roman will defend the title against Seth Rollins, returning from the accident: Reigns will lose the title. In fact, the final winner will not even be Seth, Dean won the title. During the same period, Reigns is suspended from WWE for 30 days and he returns for Battleground 2016, where he will be defeated by Dean (the champion). Roman will go to Raw and he start a feud with Rusev for the US Championship, and he will win. He will be the last member of the Shield to win the US Championship, will lose it against Chris Jericho. At Royal Rumble 2017, he will not be able to win the Universal Championship and he take part in Royal at No. 30, eliminating Undertaker. This elimination will lead to a match at WM 33, where Reigns defeats Undertaker. He has had a long feud against Braun Strowman and now he is one of the contenders for the Universal Championship.
Joe is married to Galina Becker since 2014 and he has three children: a female and two boys. What do I think of Roman Reigns? Roman is certainly a good wrestler, he can do his job. He is very powerful and deserves respect as everyone else. The only thing that ruins him is the character management: Reigns is very limited (maybe too much) and I know that if he was a little more free, he would be much loved. He has several improvements, both in promo and in the ring. I know this constant improvement and it needs to be worth it. I appreciate and esteem Roman, as I esteem all the others: we must respect for someone who works for us. Then he is a very good person: I like the friendship with Dean Ambrose, it makes me really happy. And his family and his children are sweet.
This is my opinion on Roman Reigns: here (https://twitter.com/ArilKurosawa/status/890133493375807488) you find the new poll. I recommend you vote and .. Next time! Ah, @ambreignssmemories I hope you like it! If I have your approval, it means I did everything right HAHA

Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/rip-tv-icon-mary-tyler-moore-dies-80/
RIP: TV icon Mary Tyler Moore dies at 80
2017 has just begun, and we’ve already lost a great icon as TV great Mary Tyler Moore died on Wednesday after being hospitalized in Connecticut, her rep confirmed to media outlets. She was 80. “Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile,” her rep Mara Buxbaum told The Huffington Post in a statement.
Moore, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1936 and grew up in Los Angeles, rose to international fame starring on the 1960s sitcom “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
The vivacious brunette performer transformed the image of women on television first as Van Dyke’s sexy, vulnerable wife Laura Petrie and then as single career girl Mary Richards in her own series. Her work in the two series brought Moore five Emmy Awards, in 1965, 1966, 1973, 1974 and 1976. She won another Emmy for 1993 TV special “Stolen Babies.”
Moore was also a powerhouse producer via her MTM production company with then-husband Grant Tinker, producing her own series as well as “The Bob Newhart Show” and spinoff series “Rhoda” and “Lou Grant,” among others.
She combined wholesomeness and sex appeal with cracker-jack comedic timing. In many ways Moore was a throwback to Hollywood golden era leading ladies like Myrna Loy and Jean Arthur, but with a decidedly updated twist.
Her role as Laura Petrie, the suburban wife of comedy writer Rob Petrie, also represented a step forward for the portrayal of women on television. Though they maintained separate beds, the Petries otherwise shared an active, romantic marital life. And unlike Desi Arnaz on “I Love Lucy,” Van Dyke’s character was not threatened by his wife’s talents or her intelligence.
The series made Moore a star, and she worked on films under contract at Universal. With the exception of “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” in which she played third fiddle to Julie Andrews and the scene-stealing Carol Channing, the studio’s attempts to fashion her in the Doris Day mold was unsuccessful. Moore also tried her hand at the Broadway stage, co-starring with Richard Chamberlain in David Merrick’s musical version of Truman Capote’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
She later starred on the beloved 1970s sitcom “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” which is considered to be the first show with a never-married, working woman as its central character. Moore played single, 30-year-old TV news producer Mary Richards.
The show, which featured Moore’s character asking for equal pay to her male co-worker and going on the pill, became a paradigm of the women’s liberation movement and is credited with inspiring women to break the mold confining them as wives and homemakers.
“I think Mary Tyler Moore has probably had more influence on my career than any other single person or force,” Oprah Winfrey said in a recent PBS documentary celebrating the actress.
With the help of her second husband, producer Tinker, and the talents of creators James L. Brooks and Allan Burns, she fashioned a new series, “Mary Tyler Moore,” which debuted on CBS in 1970 and revolutionized the sitcom. Even more than the Van Dyke show, it focused heavily on the central character’s work life.
And in this case the central character was a single woman, Mary Richards, carving out a life for herself in Minneapolis. Moore was the pragmatic and delightfully vulnerable center of a strong ensemble cast that included Ed Asner, Valerie Harper, Betty White, and Ted Knight. “Mary Tyler Moore” raked in the accolades during its run and thereafter was a permanent fixture in television syndication.
“The Mary Tyler Moore Show” won the Emmy for comedy show three years in a row, was named as one of the most influential TV shows of all time on numerous lists, and was one of the first shows to tackle issues including equal pay for women, divorce, infidelity, homosexuality, premarital sex, and infertility. Moore’s character even recovers from an addiction to sleeping pills during the show.
After “Mary Tyler Moore,” which Moore retired after seven seasons, she tried other series including sitcom “Mary,” variety hour “The Mary Tyler Moore Hour” and “New York News,” another attempt to recapture the magic of her landmark ’70s TV series. There was even an effort to reunite her with Harper, her Rhoda sidekick on “Mary Tyler Moore,” starting with a TV movie, “Mary and Rhoda.”
The actress finally snared a role that challenged her abilities in Robert Redford’s Oscar-winning directorial debut, 1980’s “Ordinary People.” She played completely against type as a stern, cold matriarch, living in denial after the death of her favorite son. The beautifully wrought performance brought her an Oscar nomination. Then in the mid ’90s she was again offered a film role, supporting this time, that displayed her range: As a neurotic, overbearing Jewish mother in “Flirting With Disaster,” Moore was hilarious in a completely different way than in any of her TV comedy appearances.
Moore also returned to Broadway stage, finding some success in the drama “Whose Life Is It Anyway?” and taking home a special Tony for her performance. She also appeared on the Rialto in A.R. Gurney’s “Sweet Sue” in 1987.
On TV, she carved a niche for herself in TV movies, most notably the breast cancer tale “First You Cry” and the miniseries “Lincoln,” in which she played Mary Todd Lincoln. She drew Emmy nominations for both. There was also “Finnegan Begin Again,” “Heartsounds” and “Just Between Friends,” which brought her good reviews and award recognition.
Moore continued in TV movies during the 2000s, including the sentimental “Miss Lettie and Me,” and she guested on series including “That ’70s Show,” “Lipstick Jungle” and, in 2011, “Hot in Cleveland,” where she reunited with her “Mary Tyler Moore Show” co-star Betty White. There was also a reunion show, 2004’s “The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited,” in which she participated.
In 1983, after almost 20 years of marriage, Moore separated from Tinker, who had gone on to run NBC and sold to her his share in MTM Enterprises, which she subsequently sold. The company had been very successful with several spinoffs from the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” as well as other hit series like “Hill Street Blues” and “WKRP in Cincinnati.”
Moore was born in Brooklyn but grew up in Los Angeles, where she attended Immaculate Heart High School and married Richard Meeker at age 18. She broke into performing through television commercials, memorably as the Hotpoint elf on “The Ozzie and Harriet Show” in the mid-’50s. Her first regular TV assignment was on the TV series “Richard Diamond, Private Detective” in 1959 as the urbane investigator’s assistant, though only her legs and hands were visible onscreen. It led to guest spots on such series as “77 Sunset Strip” and “Hawaiian Eye.”
Moore had been interviewed by Danny Thomas to play his daughter on the series “Make Room for Daddy,” and he remembered her and recommended her to Carl Reiner when he was casting “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” After a shaky start in 1961, the sitcom afforded Moore the chance to show off her comedic gifts and sometimes even her song-and-dance abilities.
The actress penned two memoirs. In “After All,” released in 1995, she acknowledged that she was an alcoholic; “Growing Up Again: Life, Loves, and Oh Yeah, Diabetes” (2009) centers on living with type 1 diabetes. Moore had been diagnosed with diabetes in her 20s and was a tireless crusader for the disease via the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
In May 2002, cabler TV Land unveiled a statue in downtown Minneapolis of the character Moore made famous on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” The statue depicts the iconic moment in the show’s opening credits in which Mary throws her tam o’shanter in the air. Moore was present for the ceremony.
Moore received the SAG lifetime achievement award in 2012 from Dick Van Dyke.
In 1980, her only son Richard (by first husband Richard Meeker) died accidentally from a gunshot wound at the age of 24.
Moore is survived by her third husband, Dr. S. Robert Levine, whom she married in 1983.
Sources told the website that Moore has been on a respirator for more than a week.
Moore suffered from Type 1 diabetes and is the international chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Moore underwent elective brain surgery in 2011 to remove a benign tumor.
She had several health problems that recently became critical.

CW:// It’s.. I mean, it’s a post centered on Dottore. Gore, medical horror, referenced animal abuse/death, and references to child experimentation because it’s.... it’s dottore....
BANGS POTS AND PANS TOGETHER alright kids gather around for Cala needs to add Dottore as a side muse/NPC for some plots so here’s a collection of some of my weird fucking HCs on him. I’ll probably just... edit this whenever I get new ideas instead of making whole new posts, idk, we’ll see.
       0. BASIC INFO.
Dottore is 5′10″. He’s athletic, but not particularly muscular. He is a cis male ( he/him ) who is grey-asexual and homoromantic ( though in truth he probably falls closer to being on the aromantic scale as well ). Dottore is somewhere between 27 and 33. Though he was born and raised in Fontaine, he is a direct descendent of the Lawrence clan from Mondstadt. He is a polyglot who is fluent in a majority of the spoken languages on Teyvat. This Bitch Has Mental Problems.
       I. ORIGIN. LAMBERT PIERRE LAWRENCE is the descendent of Mondstadt’s Lawrence clan, though he himself was born and raised in a small village in Fontaine. Well-off is hardly the term to describe his family’s financial state; to describe what they had as WEALTH would be an understatement. Large was the chateau that was owned by the family, surrounded by the rolling fields of the Fontainian countryside.
It was a peaceful place, before Lambert was born. The boy had always been.... peculiar. Things had always been difficult with him; Lambert had a hard time keeping pace with emotions, often being cruel and brash in conversation, forgoing all manners in his interruptions and rants. Bonding was something he did not find particularly possible, never growing close to neither his parents nor his younger siblings. Fights with other children in the village broke out often when Lambert was around; And when the boy became bored these issues were ramped to the extremes. He would do anything to seek some relief from the boredom that plagued him; Anything for a scrap of entertainment.
He found some relief in reading; Fascinated with the medical textbooks that lined the shelves of his fathers study, moving on to anatomy, to biology, to animals. It was around the age of 14 that Lambert became truly fascinated by animals. Something he had once been utterly ambivalent towards was now a hyperfixation. He’d stop for every spotted dog, he’d beg endlessly for a pet cat of his own. The farmers adjacent to the Lawrence’s property would drag the boy by his collar back to his parents after he’d gone breaking into fields and barns. The intensity of the interest was a bit odd-- but a welcome relief from his otherwise distance and cold behavior Lambert had always expressed. Thinking that perhaps the boy had finally developed an interest far more normal for his age, gently did his parents encourage him to properly ask to see the farmers animals; Even gifting the boy a cat for his 16th birthday.
Ever one for isolation, even going on two years into his animal fixation, Lambert had always been fond of nightly walks along the outskirts of the property; Something that had always been encouraged by his parents. But as the walks became longer and longer, and as farmers began to complain of missing sheep and cattle, and even the boys beloved pet cat disappeared-- As Dottore’s behavior became more and more erratic, an eerie wariness grew within the house.
Just beyond the property line, nestled in a wooded area between the farmers fields, was a barn that had long since been abandoned. One night, worried that his son was the cause of these disappearances, Lambert’s father followed him on his nightly walk. The barn had been changed over the years; It’s insides refitted for the boys purposes. EERIE WARINESS GREW TO FEAR. It became the family’s secret; The monster they now housed in their home and the monstrosities he left in the night to create. Efforts were taken to curb the behavior, to stamp it out now before it spread; BEFORE IT GOT WORSE.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT GOT WORSE.
The town became aware of the barn when one of the neighbors young daughters went for a walk and discovered it and all it contained; The abominations of metal and meat that Lambert had forged and sewn, the chemicals he had mixed and the plans he had laid for something far darker, and set in motion was the series of events that would cost him EVERYTHING HE KNEW.
The barn was investigated that day; Lambert far too busy with his studies to hear the fresh news. His nightly walks were well known by now, and who the barn and its contents belonged to was without doubt; And so that night, as the boy ventured out to the barn and began his work-               THE DOORS WERE CLOSED SHUT AND BLOCKED.               AND TORCHES SET THE WOODEN BARN ALIGHT.               AND HE FESTERED THERE AMONG HIS CREATIONS.
... But that was a long time ago. He doesn’t think of it much anymore.
II. BENEATH THE MASK Lies scars from the incident that chased a young Dottore from his hometown. The scars are present all over his body, but are most prominent across his legs, back, and arms. The left side of his face and neck faced the brunt of the burns- And are, perhaps, the subject of some insecurity. He has taken a number of measures to try and reduce the appearance of these scars, all to very little avail.
Tumblr media
III. THE SNEZHNAYA CAMPAIGN. Many are familiar with the campaign the Fatui held in Mondstadt to find new recruits; Few are familiar with the results of this campaign. And few outside of Snezhnaya are aware that something very similar is happening within the countries borders, as well. With the majority of it’s citizens suffering in poverty under a massive class gap, Dottore has run a campaign in Snezhnaya to encourage families to sign their young ones up for a specialized training program with the Fatui. The specifics of the program are not clarified, but the most enticing details are; Qualified families will receive a monthly paycheck, and their child will be safe, housed and warmed and fed. With so many families desperate for a lessened load of their already fragile resources, the promise of money, of safety for their struggling children... few people can deny that it’s an enticing deal. IF ONLY THEY KNEW WHAT WAS TRULY HAPPENING.
IV. MORALS.... this bitch has none, but I want you all to be as aware of this as possible. Children and animals are not off limits in his experiments. He can and will commit all varities of crime because his personal desires are more important than any laws or reason. All ends justify the means. He doesn’t care much for anyone who isn’t himself. He will hurt, maim, and kill literally anyone, it does not matter to him. All that matters to Dottore is relieving his boredom, feeding his curiosity, and keeping his current place in the world. He would literally rip you open and start sewing animal parts to you if someone offered him a single corn chip to do so.
       V. PHYSICAL HEALTH... is admittedly a bit of a rollercoaster. Dottore has been performing experiments on himself for a long time- Some successful, some very far from it. Majority of days he can more than keep pace with his fellow harbingers in a fight, and yet there are others where he cannot feasibly accomplish such a task. Having long since adjusted to this, Dottore primarily relies on using drones for ranged attacks, finding this is what works best on both his best and worst days- but he does carry a knife or two on him for emergencies... or for when a bitch just rly needs to be shanked.

My Promised Land: Key Takeaways
I read My Promised Land because I knew nothing about the Israel-Palestine conflict and thought that this book would provide an illuminating perspective from the Zionist point of view. When I read the first couple chapters, I was immediately engrossed by the beautiful prose that embodies the spiritual, earthly, and violent identity of Israel. This is not a historical nor a policy book. Shavit wrote this as a book of the people, telling personal anecdotes that convey a greater message about Israel’s contradictions, challenges, and triumphs. Here are my takeaways from the book.
Israel is a home for those who before have never had a home
“Yet as the nineteenth century draws to a close, these Jews realize that as much as they care for Europe, Europe does not care for them. For these newly emancipated European Jews, Europe is like a surrogate mother. They look up to her, they worship her, they give her all they have. Then, suddenly, these devoted sons of Europe notice that Europe won’t have them. Europe thinks they smell. Overnight there is a new, strange look in Mother Europe’s eyes. She is about to go insane. They see the insanity dancing in her eyes, and they understand that they must run for their lives.” (19)
The imagery of the abandoned child frequently reappears throughout the book, constantly reaffirming the surrounding society’s hatred for Jews. “Zionism was an orphans’ movement, a desperate crusade of Europe’s orphans” (33). One does not need to restate the horrifying stories of genocide committed against Jews to capture the palpable loneliness of these people. Under this context, Shavit presents the establishment of a permanent homeland as perhaps the only long-term solution to persecution.
But Shavit does not depict his people as childlike. Rather, he portrays founding Israelites as “almost Bolshevik” (28), utilitarian, disciplined, and masculine. Whereas the US has been blessed by ocean moats that kept foreign invasion at bay for much of its history, Israel is the exact opposite. Existential threat permeates their way of living. Shavit writes, “If Israel had been kindly and compassionate, it would have collapsed. Denial was a life-or-death imperative or the nine-year-old nation into which I was born” (162). Regardless of your political views towards Israel, one cannot but help feel some admiration for their resiliency.
Israel is a country of contradictions
The most glaring contradiction is how Israel conquers a land under the fear of persecution, only to push out tens of thousands of Arabs who had been residing peacefully in this land for years. Shavit tries to wrestle with this contradiction, at times chalking up occupation to naïve ignorance, at other times taking full responsibility for the brutality of its reign. Sometimes, Shavit’s defense feels flimsy. “Is this colonialism? If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck” (18). But he continues, the first British Zionists “don’t really represent an empire but a deprived people seeking the help of empires. […] I see no evil. I do not see a condescending attempt to take the poor man’s lamb.” Yet, even if these Zionist individuals did not set out as agents of a colonialist power, how could they remain ignorant of an inevitable conflict with Arab locals? Even if Arab nationalism had not yet been fully formed and Palestine was not yet a sovereignty, can Shavit honestly believe that these Zionists were not trespassing on their land?
However, at this point, there has been such a cycle of retributive justice that occupation is no longer a question of righting wrongs. As Shavit writes about the Conquest of Lydda, “War was inhuman, but it allowed one to do what one could not do in peace; it could solve problems that were unsolvable in peace” (118). Whereas Shavit suggests that early settlers of Israel were able to overlook their Arab neighbors, Shavit recognizes that contemporaries can no longer ignore this fundamental contradiction of Israel. This is a contradiction that must be acknowledged and reconciled at a personal level.
In his attempt to reconcile the atrocities that Israel has committed with the mission that Shavit believes in, he writes, “On the contrary. If need be, I’ll stand by the damned. Because I know that if it wasn’t for them, the State of Israel would not have been born. If it wasn’t for them, I would not have been born. They did the dirty, filthy work that enables my people, myself, my daughter, and my sons to live” (131).
Shavit is not blind to how contemporary Israel treats Palestine. He writes, “For its outstanding economic, social, and engineering achievements, the new Israel paid a dear moral price. There was no notion of human rights, civil rights, due process, or laissez-faire. There was no equality for the Palestinian minority and no compassion for the Palestinian refugees” (151). While fulfilling officer duties at the Gaza Beach Detention Camp, Shavit reflects on his complicity in repressing Palestinian rights: “They scream because my Jewish state makes them scream. In a methodical, orderly, and absolutely legal fashion, my beloved democratic Israel makes them scream” (232). Do democracies only act as democracies until it becomes inconvenient to do so?
Shavit also recognizes that the political tides have turned; the international community now views Israel as the occupier rather than the occupied. It is a Middle East super power with developed nuclear weapons, a booming economy, and a vibrant startup scene. But this country has been receding politically over the past few decades. After the humiliating Yom Kippur Wars, “Suddenly the government of Israel was willing to give up everything. […] there was cynicism, nihilism, defeatism” (207).
Yet as Israel progresses as a nation-state, Shavit recognizes that future generations have become more distant from the political context for the country’s origination story. They have become degrees removed from the Holocaust. Perhaps it is inevitable for every future generation to become lazier and more disillusioned than the prior. They are not as willing to tolerate mandatory conscription or occupation of Palestine. Jews abroad, particularly in America, feel even more distant from their heritage. The question thus arises of how far are millennials willing to go for the Zionist mission.
Israel is a country rooted in the land
Shavit digs his fingers in every nook and cranny of Israel’s terrain to pay homage to the land and fruits it has born to its people. Shavit focuses Israel’s origination story on the barren harsh land that must be conquered only through sheer labor and will power. “Face to face with the elements, face to face with brutal existence, no protection at all. And here, in this desolate valley, we must sculpt our lives. From these rocks we must carve our new foundation” (33). Shavit glorifies the cultivated gardens, the plots of orange groves, and olive oil estates. After all, it is these cherished orange trees that gave rise to Israel’s dominance in citrus export. It is these individual remote farms that sowed Israel’s astronomical rise from the isolated to expansionist power. It is in the idyllic terrain where both Jewish and Palestinian terrorists hid automatic rifles in orange crates as they faced the inevitable conflict. But the earth doesn’t just provide sustenance for Israelites. They represent the uprooting of history, the conquering of the land. In one olive tree nursery, “Jewish workers rallied one day and uprooted the olive trees planted by Arab workers, replanting them with their own hands in order to make a national Jewish statement” (100). Even manual laborers are deeply consciousness of the Zionist mission.
I remain fascinated and intrigued by Israel, and would love to read perspectives from opposing points of views regarding the Israel-Palestine issue. For now, I have begun another book, Jerusalem: The Biography, to deepen my understanding of the underlying religious issues and history of this region. Israel remains one of the most fascinating trips that I’ve taken to date, and I would love to go back whenever this pandemic is over now that I have a greater appreciation for its culture and history.

Not a choice ❤️
🌷*Hijaab is NOT a “CHOICE”*🌷
by Asma bint Shameem
Hijaab is not a “choice”.
Rather it’s an ORDER of our Master, Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala.
It is an OBLIGATION placed on us by the Creator of the heavens and the earth.
🔷 It’s not just enough to be a ‘good person’.
Part of being a good Muslim is to wear hijaab.
That’s because wearing hijaab is an *obedience* to Allaah and *submission* to His Orders.
🍃 Allaah says:
“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment.
And all of you beg Allaah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful”
[al-Noor 24:31]
🍃 And He says:
“O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the *believing women* to draw their cloaks all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allaah is Ever Oft‑Forgiving, Most Merciful”
[al-Ahzaab 33:59]
So if we *claim* to believe in Allaah and His Deen, we must comply to His orders.
The Aayaat of the Hijaab are very clear.
They are there for our own good.
The Hijaab is an Order from our Creator.
The Hijaab *protects* us.
The Hijaab *defines* us.
The Hijaab *honors* us.
🔷 The Hijaab prevents corruption of the society by cutting off the very *roots* of vulgarity and Faahishah, because it cuts temptations of the opposite gender down to the bare minimum
🔷 The hijaab is not just a piece of cloth on your head, either.
Rather hijaab is the way you talk.
The way you walk.
The way you conduct yourself.
The way you deal with the opposite gender.
The way you LOOK at the opposite gender.
It’s a WHOLE WAY OF LIFE.
🔷 The first thing we’ll be asked about when we die and stand in front of Allaah are the obligations.
And if the obligations are in place Alhamdulillaah.
But if they’re not, then NOTHING else will count.
🍃 The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
“The first thing for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayer.
If it is sound, he will be successful, and if it is lacking in any way, he will be *doomed*.
If his obligatory prayers are lacking, the Lord will say: “Look and see whether My slave has any voluntary prayers which may be used to make up what is lacking in his obligatory prayers.”
*Then ALL HIS DEEDS will be EXAMINED and DEALT WITH in the SAME WAY.’”*
(at-Tirmidhi -saheeh by al-Albaani)
🔷 By wearing the hijaab we come close to Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala and hope for His Mercy and Forgiveness.
🍃 In a Hadith Qudsi, Allaah subhanahu wa Ta’ala said:
“My servant draws not near to Me with anything more beloved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him.”
(al-Bukhaari)
🍃 Aaishah radhi Allaahu anhaa said:
“When these words were revealed – “and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, etc)” – they took their izaars (a kind of garment) and tore them from the edges and covered their faces with them.” (al-Bukhaari)
Here our Mother Aaishah is PRAISING these women for quickly covering themselves as soon as the Aayaat of Hijaab were revealed because it was out of OBEDIENCE to Allaah’s command.
🍃 Safiyyah radhi Allaahu anhaa said:
“We mentioned the women of Quraysh and their virtues in the presence of ‘Aa’ishah and she said:
“The women of Quraysh are good, but by Allaah, I have never seen any better than the women of the Ansaar, or any who believed the Book of Allaah more strongly or had more faith in the Revelation.
When Soorat al-Noor was revealed – “and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)” – their menfolk came to them and recited to them what had been revealed, and there was not one woman among them who did not go to her apron, and the following morning they prayed wrapped up as if there were crows on their heads.” (al-Bukhaari)
🔷 The punishment for not covering oneself properly
There’s a very scary hadeeth that applies to women who don’t wear hijaab.
🍃 The Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said:
“During the last days of my ummah there will be women who are clothed but naked, with something on their heads like the humps of camels. *Curse them, for they are cursed.”* (Muslim)
🍃 And the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said:
“There are two types of the people of Hell whom I have not seen:….women who are clothed but naked, walking with an enticing gait…. *they will not enter Paradise or even smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be detected from such and such a distance.”* (Muslim).
🔷 The obligation to cover our hair and body applies, no matter where we live.
Alhamdulillaah hundreds of thousands of Muslims live in the west. And many many women wear hijaab while working in all the professional fields and in all walks of life.
And generally speaking, no one has had any problems or issues.
It’s just a trick if the Shaytaan to lure us away from the obedience of Allaah that we feel shy or hesitant to wear the hijaab.
In fact, NOT wearing hijaab and not obeying Allaah is the cause of problems in one’s life.
And obeying Allaah and His Commands brings relief, ease and a way out of every difficulty.
🍃 Allaah says:
وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجا
And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).
وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ
And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine.
وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ
And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him.
إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَالِغُ أَمْرِهِ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْرًا
Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things.
(Surah at-Talaaq:2-3)
May Allaah enable us to obey Allaah and give us strength of Imaan. And give us tawfeeq to do all good things that He’s pleases with. Ameen
And Allaah knows best
