when Logan first saw you in australia, he was massively starstruck and couldn’t even get the courage to talk to you, so instead just ended up staring from afar the entire day. Oscar noticed the staring. since you were friends with Oscar, he did Logan a favor and introduced you guys

at first it started off with Logan asking you small stuff about yourself to try and get to know you better, but was met with a few dry responses since you were busy with uni most of the time. As time went on, he started getting more comfortable, with super sweet good morning and good night texts, and a daily supply of memes 

it was for his home race that for the first time ever, you showed up in a non-redbull outfit, a navy blue dress on and Logan’s team cap on to surprise him

you didn’t even find Logan before Max found you, and you instantly took off the cap. he was immediately suspicious as to why you weren’t wearing your usual redbull attire, and you casually shrugged it off as needing a change from the boring outfits you normally wore

after Max left, you texted Logan to meet you in front of the Williams garage, and surprised him with your outfit as a way to support him, with playful banter between the two of you that it’d be the only time he’d see you without the red bull merch on

i can see him being a huge acts of service guy, so he’d show you around his hometown and insist on being your (slight annoying) personal tour guide

you posting a slight soft launch which is “dedicated to the best tour guide.” Max knew you were hanging out with Logan so he immediately texted both of you, making a new gc. stay away from my sister??? he texted. you then prompted to kick Max out of the gc

Logan and you became super close eventually, going out on hangouts (not dates, Max insisted) with him almost every weekend. hed fly out to you whenever he could between races, and would do anything so he could see you more

sometimes Max would be a pain and when he was in the country the same time as you and Logan, hed almost always tag along to these ‘hangouts,’ insisting that ‘he didnt know you two were gonna be here at this time’

reluctantly, Max sat you down one day, and said that hed be okay with you and Logan being a thing only if he had permission to beat Logan up if he broke your heart. with a giggle, you accepted. “he’s not gonna break my heart, anyways, Maxie,” you said confidently

and so Max told Logan this too, so he finally asked you out on a date. hed gone the whole way; flowers, a nice dinner, dressed up all nice, and even insisted on not talking about fishing the whole night

still as Logan and your relationship developed, max would glare at logan any chance he got. logan would always feel a little anxious and uncomfortable when this happened, and you had to physically turn him around each time, slotting your hand in his to comfort him

If you have made a non-fic fanwork that cannot be uploaded on AO3 (art, moodboards, creative non-fiction that isn't meta etc) and do not have easy options for hosting on your own, I have set up a Neocities site to host images and creative non-fiction here. DM here or email rpfisfine@gmail to get your work uploaded on that site so you can post to AO3. I am not sure this will work with podfic, however I can help you figure out how to use Dropbox to host on AO3 if you need help with that.

AND FINALLY: from July 19-July 21, I'm going to host a little challenge for us all called First Half Commentfest! My goal is to get every single work from the first half of the season to have at least 5 independent comments by the end of the weekend. Your mod has not been the best at keeping up with comments but there's only one of me -- I think between all of us, every work can get at least a handful comments 💪 I'll have more details at Soft Deadline #1.

I’ve smooshed a few together. Mostly from memory so I might have mis remembered.

Sweet/salty/sour /spicy:

Not sour. Not spicy. I don’t mind food with flavour I just don’t want eating to be an endurance event.

Go to snack. Cheese and crackers If I ever say “I don’t like cheese” I have been kidnapped and it is a cry for help. Call the police.

Next celebration:

it’s been nearly a year since pixel the wonder dog came into our lives so we are having an anniversary party this weekend.

Favourite holiday:

I like Christmas. It’s sunny and since I often cook it I get all my favourite foods. If I’m catering I do not give a fuck.

Last year we had lasagne and a roast meal because I wanted lasagne but not to eat it for a week.

The year before that we had all different kinds of meat balls (including spicy Asian for my sister in law that were very spicy and Asian inspired and not made from an Asian person. ) we had turkey and pork and falafels purely because it is what I wanted.

My dad had his nose out of a joint a bit but genuinely that makes it more fun.

Christmas is great. We have a sensible tree and a reasonable number of gifts and a week off work.

Favourite movie: I love Fantasia. I am a bad movie watcher. I have to go to the cinema or I will think of something else to do.

Favourite sport: I do equally love netball, football, pro wrestling and ice hockey.

Last thing you cooked:

We had minestrone soup (homemade!) garlic bread (shop made) with bacon (home… fried?) . And I made cupcakes because the oven was on. I made 11 cupcakes. There are four cupcakes left. On the one hand aww they were good! On the other hand I have yet to have one and there are only four people in the house.

Last thing you wore. Jeans and a Winnie the Pooh t-shirt. (It’s pink! ) right now I have pj’s on. They have spoons and tiny love hearts on them I don’t know why. They are from one of those fly by night shops at the mall and are soooooo soft. Lucky they don’t have random swear words.

(An aside I don’t remember reading Winnie the Pooh as a kid but my partner insisted we needed a copy when we had kids so I’ve read it but as an adult. I like it. I approve.)

Last song listened to: And she was (talking heads) it’s my Iris Law song. I listen to it when I’m writing glitter because it puts me in the right head space for that fic. Then I just let Apple pick similar music and every three or four songs I listen to And she was again.

Dumb thing that makes me laugh. When writing is just like not happening I’ll play it a lot because I get annoyed look at my music list. When it’s going well it’s like“and she was” was six songs again and I have no recollection of what I was listening to. I’ll like look up blinking and release for some reason it playing like Seafret and I’ll have no idea how I got there.

Not that anyway asked but the Ivan /Thomas song is in fact Guns of Brixton. Gonna think it every time I write Ivan’s name anyway. The Clash and then Jimmy Cliff for my favourite versions. There are a surprisingly large number of covers. Arcade Fire excellent. Nouvelle Vague doesn’t do it for me.

Might call the fic “the money seems good”.

Star sign Aquarius. (Not adjusted) am I an Aquarius? It’s summer in January here :).

Favourite colour: pink with a side of purple. But really pink.

Tea /coffee. Yea please. Too much of it in lieu of water. I have my tea stewed and cold or hot and too weak. I have coffee with fluffy milk. No sugar.

Quirk. Ummm I have trained myself out of saying “bless you” when people sneeze.

One thing you would change (about you) I am an extremely impatient driver. Sometime I pretend to be singing along with music and start chair dancing when I realise I have been non stop swearing and maybe people can see I’m me in their rear vision mirror. If you mean like a physical thing? I would like to be taller. Or to not need glasses.

One thing you’re proud of? I don’t look externally for validation. I’m happy. I love those things.

Next plans (these were the writing ones I just did a WIP so..)

Going to finish Ivan/Thomas, then either going to finish glitter or re do the one I started with Jude as not a demon making (maybe) Trent not a demon because I have a different Jude one and I don’t want to write him that much. Or getting to the point of ever again.

I want to finish the last part of tidal. Which is stubbornly half / a third done because I have not added words to it. Which seems vastly unfair.

The last thing I wrote lol if you could see me I’d be laughing. I literally wrote Virgil going down on Iris while Trent holds her up. It’s like a lot of athletic flexible rich people sex. You can wait for the fic. It would sound bizzare out of context.

Pondering /fic adjacent something like that: Having an Ivan/Thomas hmmmmm. Have a tricky moment I’m trying to navigate. And also trying to thinking I tag age gap? There are 22 years between them but Ivan is 28.

What won’t you write: hahahahahhahhaa. Friends I wrote royal family incest porn. I wrote Orlando Bloom with a little person as a birthday present. I have written non con domestic violence and I’m actually really pleased with Ivan/Thomas I think some of the lines are beautiful and it’s interesting and meaty and no one will read it lol.

And I don’t care! I love getting older. I’ll cater what I want to eat and if you don’t want it you can have potatoes with my dad.

Not even being aggressive! I also make excellent roast potatoes! Just I don’t have much time to write (she says writing a bloody essay here) so I have to write what grabs me.

“What do you want, Thomas?” Ivan asks. The air con is blasting in the car but the sun still forcing itself on them. A dazzle off the outward facing windows, a raw flinch every few metres.

What is something no one else will notice but it’s important to you. I can’t remember exactly how this was phrased! I have written coach/player fic before and normally I make a point of mentioning that power imbalance by having the player refer to them as the boss or the gaffer or the mister. But in this Ivan always calls Thomas by his name.

I'm feeling kinda down lately, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

SO. Battle jackets on! I'm going to drum up some positivity for myself and pop it on here in case it helps anybody else too.

First I'm going to look at the last week of ofmd daily recaps from the wonderful and sensational @gentlebeardsbarngrill. I'd recommend looking back at these too, Abby does such an amazing job and they're great for a moral boost!

I'm pretty open minded in general and I LOVE experimenting with tropes I've never written before. but I think my only hard no's (that I can think of atm) would probably be major character death/gore and/or true non-con.

oooh I would say it varies. but I love days when I don't have anything else to do and I can just sit at my desk and split time between all of my creative projects, put on some music/a movie (I have to have noise to be productive so skjdhskj) and grab some snacks etc.!

I've got a thanksgiving one shot coming out within the next few days for my lovely friend @inexplicablymine <3 !! henry sets a turkey on fire and chaos (and fluff w the super six) ensues accordingly !

Hey Writeblr!! I attempted to join the community a few years back but way too quickly found myself overwhelmed and ended up fizzling out >.> but I'm back now and hoping to make a better (less stressed out) effort! A bit worried I might have burnt-off some of the writeblr folks by just kinda peace-ing out, but I really do hope to make a better go of it this time around and post/interact more often! About me: Vera (she/her) I have been writing consistenly for a solid 15ish years now, have a creative writing master's behind me, (and over a million combined words in fan-fic LOL) and finally feel in a creative place where I'm ready to (hopefully) start publishing, in whatever form it takes!

So, onto the point here: Novel Intro!

YES! Some of you (might) remember my novel Sauvarin - well, it's back, babey! And about 95-99% complete!! Currently on my last round of scene-rewrites and line editing before I begin the horrifying task of querying!

So, what the heck is SAUVARIN??

TLDR: fantasy post-apocalypse featuring an autistic blacksmith who is utterly oblivious to the local boot-legger Trying Very HArd to be her girlfriend (pray for Yenn, y'all! She is being SO brave about it!) Said blacksmith, Isaura, is instead on A Mission Of Great Importance to inter the ashes of her surrogate father, Soo-young, in his childhood home town. Except, no one's ever heard of this town, the internet's broken, and she accidenatlly discovers that METAL IS LIVING NOW???

Why do all "simple requests" always end up being the most cataclysmic???

Sometimes you do, in fact, find the ghost of a child in the woods (it's okay if you are not sure what to do next).

Well, that's probably enough for now. I'll do some character intro posts (as memes!) hopefully over the weekend - it's a fairly big cast with a lot of minor-in-screen-time-but-major-in-plot characters so it'll be a bit of a series, I think.

🌿how does creating make you feel?

While the actual writing can be frustrating, creating the stories is soothing to me. It's how I put myself to sleep, how I keep my mind occupied in the shower or on car rides. If I get on a bad train of though mentally, I work on my fic in head as a distraction.

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Sometimes I write fic that I think is on the angsty side and I get comments saying it was cute or sweet. But I've realized I am a very soft writer so the commenters are probably more accurate than I am. More specifically, I am always surprised All I've ever heard are love songs is one of my more popular fics. I was afraid it would be taken as too anti Forrest or just too silly, but it got a really good response.

💥find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it.

This was a fierce competition between several of my non Malex fics, but Little Green Cakes won. I'm not surprised because there is not a huge audience for gen fic. This was written for Rosa Weekend and something wonderful I would say about it is I love the relationship between Rosa and Arturo in this.

Hey Writeblr!! I attempted to join the community a few years back but way too quickly found myself overwhelmed and eneded up fizzling out >.> but I'm back now and hoping to make a better (less stressed out) effort! A bit worried I might have burnt-off some of the writeblr folks by just kinda peace-ing out, but I really do hope to make a better go of it this time around and post/interact more often! (I have so many writeblr posts to catch up on, yikes!)

About me: Vera (she/her) I have been writing consistenly for a solid 15ish years now, have a creative writing master's behind me, (and over a million combined words in fan-fic LOL) and finally feel in a creative place where I'm ready to (hopefully) start publishing, in whatever form it takes!

TLDR: fantasy post-apocalypse featuring an autistic blacksmith who is utterly oblivious to the local boot-legger Trying Very HArd to be her girlfriend (pray for Yenn, y'all! She is being SO brave about it!) Said blacksmith, Isaura, is instead on A Mission Of Great Importance to inter the ashes of her surrogate father, Soo-young, in his childhood home town. Except, no one's ever heard of this town, the internet's broken, and she accidenatlly discovers that METAL IS LIVING NOW???

Why do all "simple requests" always end up being the most cataclysmic???

This blog is still in a coma (as opposed to dead) for an indeterminate amount of time, but I need to make this one post.  If you don't feel like reading it all, just go look through the links at the end.  It's about a piece of theatre that is being streamed just this weekend.

There is precedent for me shouting excitedly on here about non-Faire theatre done by Faire actors, with particular precedent for the non-Faire theatre of Michael Stahler (Horace Tanningrove c.2019).  There is also precedent for me mentioning that I am Autistic, albeit possibly not in so precise a term, at least not outside of tags.  There is not, however, precedent for combining those two things in one post.  But there will be now.

I cannot say as much about this as I'd like, for making words is exceptionally mentally taxing for me right now, and I'm also thoroughly out of practice at writing.  But I'll do my best.

I am Autistic.  Amongst other things, this is what enabled me to so keenly observe and so thoughtfully analyze and so deeply keep track of so many things about PARF, allowing me, in turn, to make so many informed and understanding memes, jokes, headcanons, analysis, and occasional fics about the characters and events of PARF: it was my primary Special Interest for several years, and remains an ongoing dormant one now.  (The shifting of Special Interests is, conversely, also part of what rendered this blog so barren of late, but we won't go into that.) Being Autistic is more than only having Special Interests, of course, but that's the part that relates directly to this blog, and thus directly to you.  Being Autistic is a bigger part of my life and more important to me than can ever be stated, for I would quite literally be a fundamentally different person, with a different personality, if I were allistic (not Autistic).

Michael Stahler is also Autistic, and would be a fundamentally different (probably less interesting, in my opinion) person if he were allistic.  And while he has sometimes coded some of the characters he plays as Autistic, he has never before the last few months had the opportunity to play a role explicitly written as Autistic.  This is in part because so few examples of characters intentionally written as Autistic are remotely accurate or respectful; and even factoring in the poor examples, there are just so few.

From the 17th of May through the 4th of June, Michael starred in the world premier of playwright Juliette Dunn's “The Puzzle” at Hedgerow Theatre (don't worry, the title does not refer to Michael's character; in fact, as one of the articles I'll be linking below states, his role is “the most whole character in the story”). I had the immense privilege and joy of attending it twice.  I cannot do it justice in my current state of writing, and I frankly will not try.  Rather, I will link some of the many pieces of news coverage about the show below, and plead and entreat you to read at least some of them.  What I will say is that it was the most incredible play I've ever witnessed, and might even be the most amazing theatrical experience I've ever had – including all things Renn Faire and Theatre In the Mansion, which is no small feat.  I wanted to shout excitedly about it on this platform back before and during the run, but I didn't have it in me at the time to make the words, not even in writing. As established, I still only kind of have it in me to make words, but I seem to have hit the point at which I'm willing to make words even though it is costing disproportionate spoons and the words are sub-par.

For those of you who missed the show entirely (which is most of you), and those who wish to witness the show again, you have one more chance.  Thanks to the League of Live Stream Theater (which I did not realize was a thing that exists, and am delighted to be informed is), you can stream a performance of “The Puzzle” on June 16th (7:30pm EST), 17th (7:30pm EST), and 18th (2pm EST).  That's this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. In each case, the stream starts at the indicated time, and is available on-demand for twenty hours after the performance ends. Tickets are $44 (that's the regular $35 ticket plus $9 for the platform fee).

If the antics of Horace Tanningrove ever brought a smile to your face or laughter to your lips; if PARF-fan's posts have ever enhanced your life; if you enjoyed the performance of sundry other Autistic actors at PARF, both Bacchanalian and Blackfryar (none of whom I can specify, as I did not ask their permission to namedrop them and their Autism on here), then I ask, I beg, indeed, I charge you to stream this show if it is in your budget.  Hell, have some friends or family over and split the ticket cost.  You will not be disappointed.  You will be treated to an astounding piece of theatre, a story about human connection and communication, and you will walk away from it wiser and a more developed person.

Here is the link to view or download the program.  Even if you read nothing else from it, you really need to read the playwright's note (page three, four if you include the cover) before seeing the play, for context and definitions (particularly if you know little about Autism, but it's still important even if you're already informed).

The photos in one of the “artist spotlight” posts from Hedgerow's facebook page include pictures of the display that the audience had to walk past in the theatre to get to the house (put together by the dramaturg).  As with the playwright's note, it is very important to read this display for further context and explanations, particularly if you know little about Autism (and you'll likely learn something new even if you're already informed; I certainly did).  I am having difficulty making the “embed post” thing work, so I have instead attached the pictures I took of that same display (the text is more readable in these ones, anyway).  While I received permission to photograph the display, I did not ask about posting the pictures, and will remove them if Hedgerow asks.  The first five images are closeups of (most of) the relevant text (hence being more readable).  The remaining four are wider shots, intended to showcase the display more than the text.

Contains very detailed description of the flavour of the play, relates more events within the play than any other article.  Very good article, definitely worth a read if you're at all concerned about the content of the play, or otherwise unsure whether or not you want to see it.

A wonderful post-show interview from WPPM with all three cast members.  There's enough detail about the events within the play that I would recommend listening to this after seeing the show.  Either way, you should definitely listen to it.  The link actually opens part-way through the interview, but you will need a free Soundcloud account to pull it back to the start of the interview (37:33).  If you don't, you will miss nothing about the show itself, but you will miss hearing Michael calmly and eloquently go off about the necessity of streaming theatre for accessibility.

18: Do you enjoy research? Which fic of yours required the most research?

Broadly speaking, yes, but it really really depends on the subject matter and fic! I'm fairly unlikely to ever write an AU that takes an excessive amount of research beyond fact-checking, because the way I tend to approach writing + research means that I can't really start getting ideas down onto the page until the primary bulk of research is done. Most of the research I do for canon-era fics is basic fact/anachronism checking (not that the show itself doesn't have anachronisms, but if I include them I want it to be a choice). In particular I end up having to look up stuff about 80s music pretty frequently. Most of that stuff is surface level enough that I don't quite consider it "research"--it's stuff I can take a pause mid-drafting to look up, or throw a flag into my draft to return to later. I don't necessarily strive for complete 80s verisimilitude, but I also don't want to yank anyone out of the story! That being said, queer bar and cruising culture has been a special interest of mine for ages, so I am happy to go on deeper dives into those subjects. I like being able to situate the characters into a wider queer culture, because I think they all (especially Robin and Will) deserve to find that kind of acceptance even beyond their immediate peer group. I'm working on a whole post-canon/canon divergent series that I want to span through all of the 80s to the present following most of the cast, so I've done a lot of research for that (so far focusing mostly on the 80s/early 90s). phryctoria is the first fic in that series, so that is currently the fic I've done the most research for (I have a whole little research database). A lot of my research focus has been on the AIDS epidemic and Indianapolis' queer culture in the 80s in particular. It's been really interesting focusing on the queer history of a (non-Chicago) midwestern city! A good reminder that we exist everywhere and make spaces for ourselves everywhere. 🏳️‍🌈❤️

26: What’s your least favorite part of the writing process?

Planning, and drafting beginnings and transitions. (endings can also catch me up, but usually when I'm on a roll I just wind up landing on a natural ending point) Weirdly I've been finding it easier to plan than usual for a lot of my ST fics, but I think that's because a lot of my early fic ideas came with an inherent structure (I have a flagging 5 + 1 fic way down the pipeline, but it was one of the first ST fics I had an idea for, and then I built a whole series around it), or because they're rewrites/POV character studies of canon events. But, yeah, starting and a fic or a chapter is often a struggle point, as are writing into a transition of any kind. One of the things the WIP Weekends/Wednesdays (and the fucking stobin meme) have been good for is just pushing me to write something, which has saved me from getting stuck numerous times.

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected? Probably Illusions (rated E), actually! A Painted Lady Katara x Avatar Aang fic I wrote for smut weekend as an afterthought. I was shocked with how many comments I got on that fic within the first 24 hours, especially since I don't tend to get a ton of comments on smut fics (I get it, for whatever reason people don't want to admit to reading it so they'd rather either quietly kudos or not interact with the fic at all. My smut fics have so many more hits than my non-smut fics but hardly any comments/signed-in kudos in comparison). I needed more Painted Lady Katara x Avatar Aang in my life, though, and I guess maybe others felt the same way? haha

18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year? Probably Mai. She is such a unique character and I have a really hard time finding her voice, especially because, while she is quiet and reserved and often dry, she does speak her mind with her friends. I had a lot of interaction between her and Katara in chapter 4 of Growing Pains (rated E, which I published in February of this year--wow) and some with them again in Unspoken Undeniable (rated T) and both times I had to really work to figure out what she would say and how.

28. Favorite work you wrote this year? Oh, that's hard. I think probably Unspoken, Undeniable for just being completely self-indulgent. But I'm also really proud of my Kataang Week fic this year, Free as the Wind. I had to do a ton of research for it and was (am, still, honestly) really nervous about how it turned out but some of my favorite scenes I've written are in that fic, and I'm really proud of myself for writing something I had originally sworn not to ever tackle just because of how daunting it seemed.

We’re continuing this new weekly tradition of “yes, Zelda AUs can be considered fanfiction”. I’m starting off with Zelda stuff because the second Tears of the Kingdom trailer dropped. I am so completely normal about this. (Narrator: She was, in fact, not so completely normal about this).

This week the spotlight is on Bonus Links by @bonus-links​/@ezdotjpg​ . I’ve been kind of following this AU since the beginning. It started out as some (gorgeous) redesigns and now there is an actual comic! We’re at chapter 1 now and it is very fun. 

@martsonmars​‘s blog title is “emo shit” and I know it refers to Baz but it also refers to me being emo about their fics. Walk With Me is so 🥺🥺🥺. I love Mordelia!

The Tale of Two Merwolves are two fics in one! Simon and Baz accidentally become parents of a baby merwolf and the fic is written in a round robin way by @martsonmars​ @onepintobean​ @raenestee​ @shrekgogurt​ & @wellbelesbian​, so there are two different versions. They’re both very sweet and *insert B99 meme here* Simon and Baz: we’ve only had Colin/Ariel for an hour but if anything happened to him/her, we would kill everyone in this room and then ourselves.

*off-key singing* But oh those summmmmeeeerr niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiights (tell me more, tell me moooore!) uhm anyway But, Oh, Those Summer Nights by @quizasvivamos​ was very fun and I am also a sucker for dog content in a fic. Damn, Kurt and Blaine really deserved a better time at Scandals than canon gave them.

I also started reading Scenes from December by @spaceorphan18​, because yes, I still have festive fics to read. I’m a little over halfway and it is sooo good.

Next week I hope to catch up on some WIPs that I am reading (that Torchwood fic, the Klaine Valentine fics... so many fics so little time).

I didn’t read that many fics this week, but that’s also because in non-fic news, I read the entire Heroes of Olympus series in one weekend. Friday was The Lost Hero. Then The Son of Neptune, The Mark of Athena and 40% of House of Hades on Saturday (I know), and then I finished the latter on Sunday and I also read The Blood of the Olympians. Yes. Each book was over 500 pages. I liked the series and I very much loved the characters. It was just a bit too much at some points. As the Dutch say, ik zag door het bos de bomen niet meer. But I did enjoy it and I am now waiting for my library to give me the Trail of Apollo books.
