Genuinely don't think I've seen anyone talk about chapter 25 as a pivotal moment for Dazai so I'm gonna put this out here because I think his reactions here kind of negate that whole omnipotent Dazai interpretation which I hate with every fibre of my being.

Firstly, he's like, clearly caught off guard here. And don't try to tell me he wasn't, because this is just one instance of his genuinely horrified reaction to Q's release and when he realized what was actually going on with Atsushi, Naomi and Haruno.

Him being caught off guard carries significance here because you'd never catch him screwing up this bad later in the series - which is exactly my point.

I wrote a post earlier about how I don't think Dazai really is very much like Mori or Fyodor at all, and I stand by that, because their motives are different. Tldr for that post: Mori and Fyodor are ambitious and proactive, while Dazai is empty/numb and reactive.

What this leads me to believe is that Dazai is less a chess master like those two and more of a contingency planner - he's so good at "predicting" because he is uncannily good at thinking like his opponent and then planning for literally any possibility under the sun he can come up with. He's no gambler. Everything and everyone is practically (and unknowingly) micromanaged. It's almost paranoid in a sense, and I definitely think it's a trauma response to something he went through that we don't know about yet - after all, he was more than capable of this before he even met Mori.

...which brings to me to Mori's influence here. It's straight up like Dazai forgot how willing Mori is to gamble huge risks for a good outcome. It's like he forgot the mafia could be a real threat to his best-laid plans.

Going to throw out a wild claim here that I don't think is actually all that baseless - I think it's widely assumed that Dazai molds himself to what he needs to be (true!) but I think this misses the idea that he is also easily influenced by the mindsets of the people around him (see: the difference between Entrance Exam Dazai and early manga Dazai, the whole "the longer he was in the mafia the darker and more incomprehensible he became" thing from Stormbringer, how dark his eyes get in the prison sections with Fyodor, etc.). I could go on, but for the sake of not making this post too much longer, let's assume this is true because it suddenly makes sense as to why he failed to predict Q but predicted other events much later that were inherently more difficult to predict:

He was in the wrong mindset. He was thinking like an Agency member, and dare I say, he even got a little complacent. He started to get used to not having to manipulate every last variable - he was removed from a toxic environment - only for Mori to pretty much instantly fuck that up in one scene.

Let's also not forget what happened the last time he miscalculated Mori's intentions.

The consequences of this blunder could've been a lot worse and he knows it.

In his mind, thinking like an ADA member wasn't good enough to stop a potentially awful outcome - awful outcomes that could bring him pain. So, he goes back to what he knows - think like the demon prodigy. Think like Mori. Later on, think like Dostoyevsky. Because it seems to me that he believes as long as he is still working for the light that it doesn't matter if he uses these horrifically manipulative and inhumane methods of getting there. But he is wrong. Darkness within the context of good intentions is still very much darkness, and it hurts people all the same.

In the very next chapter, Dazai arranges Ango's car accident. And he only gets worse and worse throughout the series as he regresses back into his paranoid darkness that manifests as this omnipotent facade - his safety net that ultimately prevents him from developing in a positive, more human direction.

Caregiver!Shoto Todoroki Headcanons!

A/N: Hii! Yes, requests are very open! Thank you for sending this in, I absolutely love Todoroki.

He absolutely had no idea what age regression was before you told him about it. He was very sheltered, so he never really had the chance to learn about it.

When you tell him, he listens to you explain it. He then researches it on his own time. He sees that it’s usually a coping mechanism to deal with trauma, so he definitely asks if you’re okay. He tells you that you can talk to him if you need.

He doesn’t ask to be your caregiver. First, because he doesn’t really know how. And second, because he’s unsure if you’re looking for a caregiver.

You eventually ask, though. And he says that he’ll try, but he may not do things correctly. He’s mainly afraid because of how he learned to parent.

Everything works out, though. There’s a few awkward moments and you have to explain things to him and help him out a bit, but overall, he learns pretty fast!

Honestly, I imagine him as being pretty strict. He meal preps for you, you get no sweets until after dinner, you have a strict bedtime, and you have to hold his hand in public at all times.

This guy is loaded. And he doesn’t really spend his money on himself. He doesn’t really want any material possessions, so he’s rarely ever had a reason to spend it. But now he does. He does have a reason. And he buys you literally whatever you want.

This guy has bought you so many stuffies and pacis, it’s actually kind of insane.

You’ll reassure him that you don’t need or want more, but he’s like “But I have nowhere else to spend my money…” and then he might wait a couple weeks before buying you anything again. But eventually he’ll show up to your dorm with another toy or something.

He doesn’t care for physical affection much, honestly. Hand holding is fine, he likes that. But more intense physical affection isn’t his thing. He will still cuddle with you if you need it, though. He just won’t initiate it.

He is not very good at comforting people. He honestly sucks at it.

Sometimes, he has to have others help him. Which is perfectly fine, especially since he struggles with physical touch and with comforting you. He gets Midoriya to help and Midoriya is more than willing to give you all of those things.

Midoriya is also less strict and will sometimes sneak you sweets before you’re allowed to have any. He’s gotten caught a couple times and pretended like he just forgot. Todoroki knew he was lying.

Todoroki will also help you with your homework when you’re little. By help I mean borderline do it for you. All you have to do is write the answers, really. He tells you them.

ive always been kind of obsessed with babies and baby-related things. i would sneak into my sister's room when she was a baby/toddler to play with her toys; a couple times i climbed into her crib while she wasn't in it (and a couple times i got in trouble). i loved looking at baby clothes, baby toys, etc.

diapers i think was a slow-build that suddenly exploded into real desire when i was... probably fifteen, i can't remember exactly but i think fifteen. and from fifteen to nineteen i denied being into ANY of that so hard im sure it definitely tipped some people off. i forgot it was on my f-list as a teen when i showed it to my best friend. at the time she was like loool what the fuck but um. jokes on her. i can't wait to hang out next weekend and go look at baby things and pet things (ageplay4petplay friendship ftw)

Back from seeing Ghostbusters Frozen Empire today. Sharing my Trevor thoughts specifically:

Why'd they make him so... stupid? Like, stupider than the first one. He has regressed. It's so frustrating. He's just pure comic relief. Like why did you have to do him like that?

Anyway.

Lucky x Trevor basically didn't exist. They hugged for a split second. He didn't even know she was in New York. ??? They hunkered down and cuddled against the cold also for a split second.

Also only one driving scene (if you can really call it that) and virtually no interaction with the car at all except for that one time he caressed it as they lead it back into the garage (not as weird as it sounds, but also I'm just looking for characterization scraps).

Overall he has very little screen time.

His insufferable sassy whininess was funny tbh, and was giving Ziggy vibes.

He's 18 guys. He's an adult. (Aka, a petulant child)

I liked the part where he said "Shit." lol

Suffice it to say I was disappointed. Not a horrible movie, but definitely worse than the first.

denji would stress the importance of making sure that you eat three meals a day. do they have to be nutritious? that's a story for another day, but as long as you have something edible in your stomach he wouldn't mind.

however, he definitely stresses the importance of not wasting food. (luckily, you'd have a caregiver that would be willing to finish off your plate at any time.)

he would be a strict caregiver in a way that he would constantly encourage you to do things independently (even if his wording is brash), but would relent rather easily if you knew the power of a well-timed pouty face and puppy eyes.

he'd be the best at taking care of regressors with insomnia, letting you lie on his chest while he rambles to you through the night about anything that's on his mind till you fall asleep.

on the other hand if his regressor has panic attacks, he would be a firm anchor; holding your hand and staying with you throughout to make sure you were safe and knew you weren't alone in it.

though he'd grumble, he would love to have you clinging to his side at all times. it's always good for him to know that he's wanted.

unfortunately, denji has used you once or twice as a conversational piece to talk to girls (but would pull away if you got jealous.)

you'd never find yourself bored around him, and since he always knew how to survive without having to spend any money he would find creative and cost effective ways to keep you entertained.

puppy regressor! denji:

it would take a while before denji would completely let his guard down due to makima's treatment of him, wondering if you're only with him because of the fact that he's chainsaw man.

however, once trust is earned denji would become extremely attached and loves to regress whenever he gets the chance to be able to turn off his brain to be a good puppy to you.

(i mean he literally!! talks about not wanting to think for himself anymore as a coping mechanism!!! peak regressor energy right there)

absolutely thrives on verbal affirmation and therefore would ask it from you constantly.

would literally do anything and everything for his caregiver, you'd only have to say the word and he'd get it done.

at one point you asked him to sit and forgot to take him out of the command which resulted in him staying perfectly still in the same spot for hours. (luckily you gave him lots of pets and treats as an apology).

if not supervised he would put anything and everything in his mouth and prepare to have to pry it out yourself.

you would have to help him develop the habit of eating slowly, since after being without food for so long it would be hard for him not to want to gorge on his meals in preparation for another period of time without it.

you would have the best form of scary dog privileges but would also come to understand that denji puts himself into dangerous situations to prove to you that he is useful.

though he only requires the bare minimum for himself, it's important for him to be reminded of his worth without the title of chainsaw man, and that he is a perfectly good puppy just as denji.

MCPOYLES - canon incestuous pair of twins. I've talked before about how they parallel Reynolds-twins. Incest is normalized in their family to ‘preserve a bloodline’. I find it interesting that Liam is punished for trying to marry Maureen but Margarette is cheered on for sleeping with mac [and the twins try to harass mac into seeing her again]

CHARLIE / THE KELLY FAM - Uncle jack molested Charlie. they are definitely blood related. Mrs. Kelly either doesn't believe Charlie or doesn't care. Its also worth noting that while jack shows interest in other children, he continues to harass Charlie into adulthood. 

- nothing in this is confirmed but people have talked about the fact that bonnie and shelly share a last name and what that could potentially imply about there relationship. It’s a potential reason why Bonnie doesn’t see to much strangeness in how Jack treats Charlie. 

- Bonnie is seemingly incapable of living alone [presumably bc of her mental illness and disability] and has an intense reliance on Charlie for emotional support. This is subdued now that she lives with Mrs Mac BUT still means that Charlie was parentified at a young age. This is emotional-incest adjacent. It also appears that bonnie has/had a similar relationship with jack. 

- Bonnie did sex work around Charlie when he was a child - within his range of hearing. Also - troll toll theory - if you subscribe to that. 

- Charlie for a long time believed Frank might be his father and yet still shared a bed with him and had poor sexual boundaries with him. I think about how his relationship with frank - even if they were related - still would have been less incestous that his childhood experience. 

- slight tangent BUT Charlie appears to age regress / experience confusion about his age. Both in terms of actual number and stage of life. 

- ALSO I ALMOST FORGOT the seen in the gang gets whacked were charlie and dee talk about running away together and being eachothers mommy and daddy. 

MAC 

- the least overt incest themes of the gang BUT Mac associated his fathers expectations of him with the requirement to have sex with women. He puts himself in unpleasant sexual scenarios to please his father. 

DENNIS AND DEE [AND FRANK AND BARBARA] 

- Dee is the only person Dennis has said ‘i love you’ to on-screen. Once, in presenting himself as an alternative to finding dee a boyfriend.  

- Dee’s romantic and sexual life is a point of focus for the whole gang - especially Dennis. Same with her body. This is clearly learned from Barbara and continued into adulthood. 

- The way Dennis discusses Dee’s body reads as envy to me. Dee’s body shaming resolves around her being skinny [BIRDY] which is ironic coming from  someone with anorexia. Also Dennis is constantly walking a line of expressing his femininity without reading as non-masculine. He believes women have the ‘privilage’ of being feminine. He at least partiallly sees Dee as an extension of himself and a reflection of what he could have been if he had been born female and he is resentful that Dee doesnt do it as ‘well’ as he feels he could. He quite literally desires her body. 

- Dennis believes the mcpoyles when they tell him he impregnated dee while drunk. He is disgusted and terrified but not disbelieving. 

- Frank pimps out Dennis in the gang gets whacked. Parents controlling the sexuality of their children is actually a pretty common motif across the show. Also frank is physically abusive in this episode. 

- Frank telling Dennis and Dee that incest is disgusting as though that needs to be said. He assumes they’re sleeping together ... for some reason. 

- Barbara treats Dennis as a doll throughout his childhood. It reads as her trying to replace a husband she's not attracted to. Dee is belittled as though Barbara is afraid of having a daughter that's prettier than her.

-   Mentioned in the Charlie bullet points - Dee agreeing to run off with charlie and be his mommy [’ill take such good care of you’] 

-   Dennis’ mommy kink isnt just a mommy kink its an OEDIPAL COMPLEX he directs states he wants his [male] partners to make him feel like his mom made him feel / that he wants to make them feel like his mom made them feel as a power play.

i have so many lando and max ideas pls 😭😭

I feel like Max is who Lando behaves the most for, like he is still this little ball full of energy but Lando knows Max wont tolerate his brattiness or give into Lando. Max knows Lando well enough to understand if he's actually upset or just putting it on, if Lando starts using crocodile tears Max will genuinely just laugh right in his face. But then again, Max knows how to comfort little Bub. Knows just how he likes his hair petted, how much pressure to cuddle him and exactly what words to use to calm him down. Lando can go from on the verge of a meltdown, to dead asleep in Max's lap in sub 3 minutes.

Max is also the one that gets the earful of everybody who has slightly upset Lando that day, even over FaceTime. I can also imagine Daniel getting so desperate for little guy to calm down that he calls Max himself and hands the phone over to Lando after a brief explanation.

Max is also there for all the Quadrant videos, Lando's exhausted during a filming session which was scheduled just after a race weekend. Something goes wrong at the studio and Lando just loses it as soon as he and Max get somewhere semi-private. Max is amazing with little guy.

Max feels like home for Lando. I can se bub being very homesick and when Max comes to a race with him, he feels so much better. It may not be his mom and dad but it's his best friend and that may be arguably better. Maybe since Lando is just so comfortable with Max, he may regress to an even younger headspace sometimes? He just feels safe and loved.

We know Lando's a little attention seeker (bless him) and i can also see him trying to throw a semi-tantrum to gain Max's attention when they're back at Max's place: Maybe Max has just finished streaming and bub feels like he hasn't been getting enough of Max's attention so a meltdown begins.

Max also knows Lando better than Lando knows himself; so can automatically sense when little ones lying about something.

1: Why do they wear diapers? (comfort? necessity?) It's about 70% comfort, 30% necessity! It's more comfort than necessity now that Cooper's not usually being his own cg, but he's actually a bit more comfortable the actual usage of them now since he has someone to help w them. B4, when Cooper was mostly their own cg, whenever they would end up using them it would almost always pull them out bc they had to clean up + feeling embarrassed

Also lowkey tends to actually need-need them when puppy-mode! If Cooper's puppy-re, and not wearing a diap, keep an eye out for if they get squirmy bc that means the puppy gotta go

2: When did they start wearing diapers? Copper actually kinda stubbornly worked their way backwards! He literally used everything but diaps at first- even using smth like pads (which are NOT. designed for that type of use but it wasn't actually being used at that point) until he finally was like "god. okay fine." (coop was lowkey embarrassed abt how it helped keep his brain settled but now he's like *smacks ward upside the head w a diap* WEAR IT MORON <-in a supportive nice way)

5: What are their favorite patterns/designs? Pawprints,Bones, Dinosaurs, Green, (Plain) Purple ones, not really a fan of the more fem/girly designs! Would probably wear barney ones or smth (green + purple + dinosaurs)! Would rather plain coloured ones than patters they dont like tbh

9: What’s their Dream Diaper? Honestly, something just very comfortable to sleep in, since that's usually what they do when regressed! OR easy and quiet to move in, because Puppy-re Cooper is not a fan of crinkly-like noises. Definitely Dinosaur themed- maybe a package that had various dinosaurs for different diaps!

12: What scent of baby powder is their favorite? (or would be their favorite? feel free to make one up!) Honestly, if Cooper can get away w a non-scented one, he will use that! Also lowkey, Cooper will 9/10 prefer to do that on his own unless he's already very comfortable settled down! But if he's just getting settled, he usually does that part himself (he doesnt usually mind help getting dressed afterwards)

Puppy-Cooper will absolutely get it everywhere, do not let puppy-cooper near the powder <3

13: Have they ever had a daytime accident? Yeah, usually post-big naps or if Cooper's really settled down and teeny. He's getting better at letting Bones help him get cleaned up and changed, but 9/10 he has a hard time settling back down. Puppy-Cooper is more likely, esp if Puppy-Cooper is being sillaaay! If they're squirmy, like real squirmy, either get that puppy to a bathroom or diap him REAL fast. (Puppy Coop always gets so miserable about it ): )

14: Do they wet the bed? Sometimes, usually if they go to sleep regressed and wake up the next morning but forgot to put a little extra nighttime protection on! Especially if Cooper sleeps in. They're more of a morning-ish person, so if its past 10 am and Cooper's still in bed, there's gonna be a clean-up usually

15: Who changes them? (their cg? anyone who’s comfortable? only themself?) If Cooper's just settling into regressing, usually they'll get themself changed. If they're more or less already regressed, they don't mind Bones helping/changing them as much, but might be a bit moody (cranky baby bitey).

Puppy-Cooper is so squirmy abt it. there's a decently good chance that Bones will change him, and within the hour Cooper will be attempting to wiggle free (not. NAKEY but you know. commando in a onesie)

Cooper will absolutely not let anyone other than Bones help him. To him, at least Bones is a doctor so he's not exactly embarrassed abt bodily functions. Cooper will absolutely lock himself in the bathroom rather than let anyone else help him

I can imagine the institution really did it’s best to just crush any decent coping mechanisms Norman had. They probably thought it would help him “grow up” or deter his age regression (I know that’s only technically canon to the book, but Tony performs those parts even when it’s not necessarily in the script. He’s so good at knowing when to put Norman in a childlike mindset). Suggestion: Modern AU where Mary takes Norman to Build-A-Bear?

The thing that’s so funny to me about Norman’s horrendous eating habits is that Tony was JUST AS BAD 💀 his milk drinking was fucking infamous. He lived on grilled cheese sandwiches and chocolate junket pudding. He adored hamburgers and literally has multiple quotes saying “I was trying to listen to this director/someone who was speaking to me, but I was sooooo hungry I wanted a cheeseburger SOOOOOO bad 😫”. They both love to eat garbage basically, and u know what? Slay.

And now I’m like really thinking about the stuff Norman eats and Jesus Christ. it really is just candy corn, fried chicken steak, grilled cheese sandwiches, peanut butter, milk… like… girl … EAT A REAL MEAL 💀💥 even when he DOES remember to eat, he’s just eating the most horrendous crap. No, they've not made a single decent storyline choice. NOT A SINGLE ONE. Ryan's exit wasn't a total calamity and that is literally the ony thing that can be said about them. Everything has been steady stream down hill for the show from their first day on. It is so depressing because yes I came for Robron but I did genuinely love the show as a whole and now it's basically a joke.

Just like...so many bad choices. Haha

- the whole Cain thinks he killed Joe saga that dragged on for months only to just abruptly end because they finally got Kim back on the show

- of course bringing in Nate as Cain's long lost son to have an affair with Moira, creating the least sexy affair ever that dragged on for months and then they forced him to try and learn to be his dad

- bringing Donny back to do...something? only to end up hurting Vanessa who he had never met and kidnapping her son just to get a Lachlan return that was absolutely pointless and went nowhere

- bringing Andrea and Millie in for Jaime

- deciding to do a story suggesting that Millie could be Graham's daughter and dragging that reveal on for ages only for him to just...not be her father

- that whole Lydia is really Jenny Finn story (which admittedly I didn't actually watch) but using that to then introduce her family who showed up long enough to be annoying and tell her she might have the Hutchinson's gene only to drag that out forever and ever and then she just didn't and we've never seen her family again

- the Maya stuff was going along kind of fine until the big reveal and then they promptly made it all about David and had him be upset with Jacob for sleeping with his girlfriend until he calmed down enough to realize she had groomed him but then they couldn't even be bothered enough to really resolve Jacob's trauma and feelings over all of it so it just sort of went away until they decided a Christmas Day baby was the way to go and then it was just...David's for...reasons??

- And speaking of the Maya reveal, having that whole insane thing on the Big Night Out with Leyla, Tracy and Priya only for it to amount to absolutely nothing other than that they I guess couldn't testify in the trial but then it was never mentioned again

- the entire concept of Bear Wolf (being named Bear Wolf and never getting a proper name) and him being Paddy's father. And not only did Paddy not need a father figure on the show, he definitely did not need to be regressed even further, if that's even possible, to try and desperately suck up to him for attention

- ruining Kerry and Dan's relationship for good and thereby kind of pulling Kerry out of the comfortable comic relief role she was great at

- bringing Amy back just to basically immediately make her partially responsible for Frank's death along with Kerry and then proceed to make them really unlikeable while they dragged that story out forever until it just ended because Kerry got a bump on the head. And they just never properly resolved it so it's still there hanging over their heads and people still get mad at them about it

- the whole Factory Fire in general because it was terribly done what with the comedy of errors that you could just feel setting it all up in a way that just felt totally contrived and ridiculous. And honestly Frank's whole exit in general because all he did was just run around and be weird and cryptic for weeks beforehand just to leave them and the viewers with an unnecessary mystery to unravel afterwards

- Robert's exit may have been fine but Vic's side of things certainly was not after the initial part. Just constantly throwing her under the bus to facilitate his exit. Bringing Wendy to live in the village. Luke being Lee's brother, which was just wholly unnecessary

- Billy and Aaron's whole feud that went absolutely nowhere

- Billy and Ellis's feud that was just like Walmart Sugden Bros and then they just like...forgot about it and we never really found out why Ellis was so mad at him to be so threatening when he first arrive and later try and arbitrarily run him over

- Jessie's constant refusal to believe that Billy might not be perfect, which all culminated in that random Max guy holding them all hostage at gunpoint and Jessie getting shot, but then she found out some truths about Billy and was mad at him for like five seconds so it wasn't even worthwhile and then everyone was just like...cool

- honestly...Marlon and Jessie's whole relationship

- giving Chaddy a second pregnancy

- Paddy locking Aaron in his own home

- Will stalking Harriet and then the two of them getting together in what could be an interesting story on paper but the two of them are so boring it was just dreadful

- Mandy showing up with Vinny and them doing that whole "is this Paddy's son" fake out

- the whole insane Arthur bullies Archie thing that went on forever so that it couldn't even be resolved before Covid and then it was just never mentioned again

- that excruciating scene where Amy and Eric treated Kyle like he was a two year old instead of what...7? at the time and hemmed and hawed for way too long over telling him that she was his mother

Honestly, the fact that Robert's exit was decent is a damn miracle. But I also think they just lucked out because they were able to tack it onto another story so it was actually given importance and build up and then had to have consequences that mattered inherently because it was an exit story. That and just Ryan and Danny's chemistry and character history added to the investment. Plus...we're biased. Haha.
