Eddie strolls into the kitchen and Buck doesn’t get a chance to say anything else to Chris about the speed dating event Buck may or may not go to. 

“Morning,” Eddie stops behind Chris, kisses the top of Chris’ head, and then smiles as he looks at Buck. “What did you make? It smells amazing.” 

Buck tells him, offers to make him a plate, has to look away from how Eddie hasn’t gotten dressed yet. He’s in the clothes he slept in, and it makes him look so— soft? Comfortable? Unguarded? Eddie’s always so guarded. And lately he’s always exhausted and worn out, with deeper lines and dark circles around his eyes. But now he seems relaxed and rested and so, so— 

Beautiful? 

Is that the word? That’s the only word Buck can think of. Even Chim and Hen agreed the second they saw him. They say things like that so Buck can think it, too. Eddie is beautiful. It’s a fact. Especially when Eddie’s wearing that loose tank top that hangs off him and shows off thick arms and light chest hair and lean, toned muscles, and a hint of tiny perfect nipples. He’s also wearing thin cotton shorts that cling to his hips and thighs and ass.

Which Buck is not looking at. But he knows that is what those shorts do. They hug Eddie’s ass and it’s very noticeable even when you are not looking. 

Buck is not looking. He just knows what those shorts look like on Eddie’s body because he's seen Eddie wear them before.

The fact that Eddie is objectively attractive isn't relevant. It's just a fact. He has a nice ass.

It’s perfect actually. All thick and round, generous curves of muscle. The kind of ass you bury yourself in and never come up for air. The kind you lick and bite and spank and squeeze for hours.

Not that Buck is thinking about doing any of that. 

He’s not. 

Maybe he wants to do that to someone. Hypothetical someone. He’s not thinking about doing that with Eddie. But he’d have to be dead to not know that his friend has an objectively incredible ass. Buck has always been an ass man, okay? Doesn’t mean he’s looking. Or pining. Or crossing friendship lines.

Or thinking about burying his face in between those perfect cheeks and rimming him sloppy style until he sobs and begs to be fucked. Buck wouldn’t think anything like that. Eddie wouldn’t be into that. He’s straight. And probably very vanilla. Too vanilla for even rimming and anal play.

Buck’s really not thinking anything. Especially not about Eddie or sex or those two things combined. 

Even though Eddie smiles warmly at him like Buck hung the moon and gave him the world after vanquishing all the Hildys when he says, “I’d love that.” He squeezes Buck’s arm as he moves around him and goes for the mugs and the pot of coffee. 

God, Eddie has big incredible hands, too. They’re so strong but also so gentle. Buck wants to do nothing but beg and cry when Eddie makes him sit so he can rub Buck’s aching legs.

Stuck in Place - Ridoc Gamlyn

Synopsis: You’ve been working endlessly to improve with your signet, but after nearing burnout, you feel like you’re just not doing enough. Good thing your wing’s resident hype man is there to cheer you on! (With Concealer!Reader)

A/N: Another WIP completed! I love Ridoc and Faelyn (read more about her here!). I’ll be working on more writing throughout the week, so be prepared!

Includes: injuries and general low self esteem from Reader, as well as Rosemary completely forgetting Basgiath’s layout, Ridoc being a cheerleader. Takes place during Iron Flame.

        You groan, leaning your head back against the wall of the infirmary while your whole body quakes. The elderly Professor Carr, you’d come to find out, beyond intimidating and imposing, was seriously and actually insane.

        Your thoughts flit back to two hours prior, as you’d been dragging your ass across the training field while Carr looked on. You knew he meant well – Or, at least, you hoped he meant well – but you knew something was wrong when you could barely stand on your own two feet.

        “Continue, Cadet Fox!” he’d shouted at you from his all-too-safe distance away. “Concealing is a rare gift. You will not rest until you get this right! Get up and focus this time!”

        Your dragon, Nat, had other ideas, groaning lowly into your mind. “Please, Little Fox; say the word and I’ll incinerate his sorry tail. I could get away with it.”

        You ignored them both and persisted, though, continuing to conceal anything that Carr threw at you. Despite Nat’s warnings about burning out, despite the molten pain that slowly encased your limbs, you kept going. It was safe to say you made a mistake once you actually passed out, your mind curling in on itself as a roar of panic from Nat overtook it.

        You’d woken up some time later in the infirmary, where you now sit alone besides the healer who was gently running her hands along your biceps, checking for swelling.

        The healer, a second-year named Eden, slowly raises an eyebrow at you as her fingers prod your forearms. “Damn, girl,” she muses. “It’s actually a miracle you fainted when you did. If you had kept using your signet, this wrist could have dislocated itself by pure force.”

        You sigh, your fingers flexing involuntarily. It bruised your pride a little – not the fainting, of course. You’d overexerted yourself, and you knew it. It was the fact that, after almost four hours of training, you’d still made little progress with your signet. You knew concealing was rare and required a ton of work, and you’d only been bonded to Nat for about four months, so it was only natural that your progress was slow. You weren’t used to that, though – having to work so hard at mastering a skill that, in retrospect, made you feel utterly useless in times like these.

        Eden seems to read your thoughts almost perfectly, and she offers you a sympathetic smile. “Listen,” she says, leaning forward. “One of your friends came in while you were knocked out and asked to see you. I told him to wait until you were up and functioning. You wanna see him, or should I tell him to shut his trap and leave?”

        That makes a small smile tug at your lips. You have a feeling you know exactly which friend came to see you.

        “Yeah,” you reply, your voice a little hoarse from disuse. “I’d like that, actually. Thanks.”

        The healer bids you farewell and limps out of the room, clasping a remarkably crafted cane for balance. When the door closes behind her, you groan softly and sprawl on your back, still slightly dizzy.

        Nat’s voice sends a wave of relief down your spine. “Welcome back to the land of the living, Little Fox,” she says in amusement. “It is good to feel you awake.”

        You frown. “I kind of wish I was still out,” you admit. “It’s easier not to be thinking sometimes.”

        A grunt of disapproval. “Nonsense. In order to keep yourself alive, you must be alert. You cannot anticipate the actions of others while you are not conscious.”

        You go silent for a moment, and her tone softens. “You are displeased with yourself.”

        “...Yeah,” you say quietly. “I am, Nat.”

        The dragon pauses as if she was considering her words. Dragons weren’t really ones for reassurance, but you obviously needed some sort of pick-me-up. “I will not waste my breath on positive affirmations,” she declares, “but know this, Little Fox: I chose you for a reason. If you were not worthy to be my rider, I would not be speaking to you. Remember that.”

        You love your dragon, truly, but her words don’t really make you feel much better about yourself as you gaze out the window towards the setting sun. Nat’s voice rings through your brain once again, this time sounding…a little smug?

        “Ah,” she says, sounding as if she was holding back a knowing smile. “The ice wielder is coming for you. He’s been waiting to see you for hours, you know.”

        That confirms your previous suspicions. Ridoc.

        As if on cue, the door to your infirmary wing swings open again, and a familiar dark-haired cadet pokes his head through the space with a giant grin on his face. It’s a comforting sight, and from Nat’s sudden silence, you assume she’s leaving you to talk to him alone. At least she values your privacy. You push yourself up by your elbows and sit back up, your head still spinning from the effort.

        “There’s the maniac,” he muses, pushing into the room and shutting the door behind him. He waltzes over to you and presses a kiss to your forehead. “You’re looking pretty damn good for someone who almost keeled over, you know.”

        Your smile turns into a scowl. “Not funny,” you huff, crossing your arms. “I thought I was going to implode or something. I felt all fizzy and then, Bam! On the ground and out like a light.”

        Ridoc’s smile doesn’t falter. “Trust me, sweets,” he tells you. “If you were actually going to die, I’d trust you to make a spectacle out of it. Something that really screams, ‘I’m going to doorbell-ditch Malek and no one can stop me,’ with dragon fire and fun dancing.”

        You almost laugh. Almost.

        “Of course,” he says, “I’d prefer if you waited for that, though. Until, like, Graduation, preferably. Or later. You know, when I’m not missing my notes.”

        You try to force a smile, but with all of the self-doubt whirling in your mind, it looks especially fake. It makes you feel a little guilty. You never faked anything with Ridoc.

        Your lack of a response makes him pause. Huh. It wasn’t like you to brush him off; you bounced off him and his quips more often than not, and that look in your eyes…That wasn’t something he’d ever seen in you before. Maybe in Violet or Sawyer, but definitely not you, the most confident, sure-as-hell girl he’d ever met.

        “Alright,” he says with a sigh, plopping down next to you and holding your gaze. “Talk to me, Fox. What’s with the look?”

        You blink. “What do you mean, the look? I don’t have a look.”

        He scoffs. “Sure, sweets; and Violet and Riorson aren’t fucking. You’ve got a weird look going on in your eyes, like the one Sawyer gets whenever someone mentions repeating. Talk to me. What’s going on in that pretty brain of yours?”

        You can’t make yourself look away from him. This conversation, you knew, was going to happen eventually, but you didn’t think it would happen so quickly – Much too quickly for your liking.

        “Oh, you know,” you say with a small shrug. “Just…thinking, I guess. About earlier.”

        Ridoc’s head tilts, his eyes glimmering with sincere consideration. All humor is gone from his tone – a rare occurrence. “About what? Carr? He’s a bastard for pushing you so far when your signet is so new.”

        You bite the inside of your cheek, your eyes finally falling to the sheets on the cot you sit on. Your fingers play with them absentmindedly. “I…Oh, whatever. It’s not that important, Rid. It’s just me being stupid.”

        He’s quiet for a moment before he replies. “Hey,” he murmurs, raising a hand to gently tilt your chin back up. “No. Your feelings aren’t stupid. Not to me. Never to me.”

        If you weren’t feeling so guilty, that would have made your heartbeat flutter. You don’t respond for a second, your lips twitching from the warmth of his gentle hands on your face.

        You don’t want to talk about your feelings with Ridoc, but with the way he looks at you…You have the feeling that he’ll take you more seriously than anyone else, if you could ever stand to tell them how you really feel.

        “I…” You take a deep breath, preparing to launch yourself into this anxiety-inducing territory. “...Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, you’ll never amount to anything?”

        He blinks as if surprised, mulling over your words for a second. Finally, he nods. “Not often,” he says, “but I get what you mean, yeah. Like, as if you’re stuck?”

        You nod. “Yeah. That’s one way to put it, I guess. I…I feel like I’m not making enough progress for my own liking, is all. With my signet, I mean.”

        Ridoc’s eyes soften in understanding. “Ah,” he says. “So that’s what’s got your brain in knots.”         “Yeah,” you say quietly. “I just…I don’t know, Rid. I know my signet is relatively new, so I should give myself some grace or whatnot. But it’s been enough time that I think I should have some semblance of control over it, you know? I can Summon things, sure, but not at the capacity that I should be able to.”

        He hums as if he’s taking your words into account. You’ve never seen him be so…quiet before. He glances back at you. “What capacity? Yours, or Carr’s?” he asks. “How can an asshole like Carr be so sure of where you should be when you’re the only one who can make that kind of assessment for yourself?”         You look over at him, surprised by the question. “Well, he’s the expert, isn’t he?” you snort. “He knows the normal progression of signets, and how far along someone should be with theirs. I’m not on the right track with mine, no matter how much I train.”

        “Right,” he scoffs. “Sure, sweetheart. With all the training you do from the crack of dawn to pushing curfew, I’ll bet you’re way past where you need to be with your concealing. You just hit a new record, remember? You got something all the way from your dorm from Battle Brief. That’s, like, two whole floors.”

        “Yes,” you say impatiently. “And then I almost fainted at my desk. I’ve had this signet for almost two months now, Rid. I should be able to manage a distance like that. I guess…” You hesitate. “I’m just not too confident in my ability right now, is all. I can’t find it in myself to trust myself to improve. And…Can I be honest with you right now? Like, really honest?”

        Ridoc leans closer, one of his hands reaching to grasp your fingers that still fiddle with the cot sheets. “Of course you can. Always.”

        You swallow, suddenly feeling the weight of everything you’ve been ignoring since the beginning of the year, since the night you snuck out to Basgiath from your parents’ home in Deaconshire. “I find it really hard to believe that anyone believes in me,” you admit. “You remember that letter my parents sent me a couple of weeks ago?”         He recalls your panicked movements when you fumbled with the parchment, trying to hide it from his view. “I do,” he replies.

        You take in a shaky breath. “They never wanted me to join the Riders Quadrant. They wanted me to stay home – you know, safety and all that – but I didn’t listen, because they never even really paid much attention, anyway. They’re disappointed in me, too. How am I supposed to keep moving forward if my own parents don’t believe in me?”

        Ridoc lets out a small sound of sympathy, squeezing your fingers. “Assholes,” he says. “The lot of them. Your parents obviously don’t know just how gifted you are, sweetheart. You’re one of the fastest, sneakiest people in the Wing, maybe in the entire quadrant. You don’t need anyone’s approval to know how special you are.”

        Your fingers clench. “I know I don’t need it,” you say frustratedly. “But it hurts, Ridoc. It feels like everybody can tell that I’m not trying hard enough. It hurts knowing that no one whose opinions matter believes in you, and I’m just sick of it.”

        A beat passes. Two.

        Ridoc just looks at you, as if he’s searching for something hidden in your eyes. After a minute, his eyes narrow.

        “Is that what you think?” he asks. “That no one believes you can make it?”

        “Yes,” you sigh. “That’s what I’ve been saying.”

        He continues to stare at you incredulously, as if you’ve just personally offended him. His next words take you aback.

        “Oh, sweetheart. I’m sorry, but you’re a fucking idiot.”

        You jerk away at the insult, heat flooding your cheeks. “I’m sorry?”

        He holds your surprised look. “You heard me. What do you mean, ‘No one believes I can make it’? You have plenty of people that have your back!”

        You frown. You certainly don’t feel that way. “Like who?”

        Now Ridoc really looks offended. “Are you serious right now?” he says, borderline complaining and throwing his arms in the air in exasperation. “Me!”

        You’re caught off-guard by his sudden declaration, so much so that you don’t reply. He cuts you off before you can even open your mouth.

        “I believe in you,” he announces, miffed. “I have ever since I saw you spar with Rhi, all the way back in July. If you think you can shake me off your back just because Carr thinks your signet isn’t where it needs to be, then you have another thing coming, sweetheart. I’m clinging to you harder than a damn leech.”

        His gaze turns fierce, making your heartbeat stutter. “I’ve got you,” he reiterates firmly, “and I know the others do, too. Even if they didn’t, I still would. You’ve proved yourself time and time again that you deserve to be here, much more than some of the others here can say. You’re doing so well; one little setback doesn’t mean that all the effort you put in doesn’t matter.”

        You can feel the way you look at him change as he continues with his rant, which you barely hear.

        I believe in you, you idiot.

        Your cheeks warm a little, your heart singing with…something. You can’t place it, but it stabs at the vise grip you’ve been holding yourself together with ever since the day you left Deaconshire, all the way back in June.

        Ridoc believes in you; he believes in your effort, your dedication, your care. Everything you’ve been doubting and pondering since you walked across the Parapet.

        You swallow back a lump in your throat. Ouch.

        You’re snapped out of your thoughts when he leans back down to look you in the eyes.

        “Hey,” he says, poking his pointer finger into your sternum. “What matters most is that you believe in yourself. But, since you’re not there yet, you’ll have to deal with me and my ass dragging you back to The Land of Emotional Support.” He offers you a grin, one that makes you bloom on the inside. “Sorry, sweetheart. It all goes downhill from here. You’re stuck with me.”

        You stare at him and his beaming figure, looking down at you as if you’re capable of hanging every star in the sky and then shooting them all back down again. Maybe, if you look hard enough, you can find those stars in the wide expanse of his eyes when he stares at you, all determined like that.

        You manage a smile, small but genuine. “I…think I might be okay with that, actually.”

WIP 1: An Art!

This is a personal piece I’m working on and I’m really enjoying it. It’s one of the settings a fairytale of mine takes place in. I’m determined this year to talk more about this tale and to start making more imagery for it, since I’ve been promising myself I will work on developing this as a graphic novel for YEARS.

WIP 2: Market Prep

I might have chronic fatigue, but I am also full of hubris and that is biting me on the ass this weekend in the form of two markets I’ll be selling prints at. I’ve been experimenting with a new layout to fit all my stock on the table, so this is the practice set up I did in my dining room on Tuesday. It’s not quite right but it’ll do for now. Today I reworked some of my print stands- they’re made of foam board to keep them light for transporting, but this makes them a bit flimsy so they need repairing. I’m also trying to give my No Binaries Zine a bit more space in the display, so I’m constructing a separate stand for that too. Aaand I had to drill some small holes in the bottom of my suitcase so I could reattach the wheel that came off in December with some wire, string, hope and desperation.

WIP 3: Me

It’s me. I am the last wip. A constant work in progress. It is exhausting. I am having a rough time finding adhd meds that work for me, which is frustrating when I have so much I want/need to be doing. Staying on top of my metal health is hard work and I often find myself stifled by my own limitations. The last few weeks I’ve spent a lot of time seeking comfort in fics and chatting with the lovely Snowbaz community on Tumblr and I’m so so grateful for you all. Sending love and hugs to you all, especially @iamamythologicalcreature who has to deal with my nonsensical voice notes when I am too fatigued to make sense.

WIP Wednesday: 🎲 Evil navy, please.

                He has never heard Ice yell so loud. His anger is rattling the glass in the windowpanes and he’s frozen where he stands, his own hurt and anger at hearing Maverick admit to pulling his papers making him see red. However, his own anger seems redundant in the face of Ice’s incandescent fury. He’d feel bad for Maverick if he wasn’t so angry with him. However Tom’s anger is a sight to behold in its intense ferocity and Bradley shies away from it, steps backwards when his feet finally unstick from the ground.

                “Do not leave…” Ice snaps at him.

                “No sir,” Bradley responds without even thinking, head shaking in the negative, despite the urgent desire to flee. He has never called Ice sir before, but he’s also never had Ice use that tone with him and he guesses he understands a little now how and why Ice has progressed up the ranks, that voice does not leave any room for someone not obeying a direct order.

                “And you, you sit your ass down right this second Mitchell. You have some explaining to do…”

Hello. My name is Red, and this is my personal and fandom art and writing blog.

Currently, I am doing a lot of Dungeons and Dragons OC content, and a lot of art/writing that revolves around Drow and the Drow Gods. My tag for my DnD Characters is tagged 'Deconstruction," and my writing for the characters can be found here.

Three Warnings: It is a story that is not being posted in chronological order of events, so you're kind of discovering things about these characters out of order. Secondarily, while it has nothing explicit at time of writing this post, sex and gore will likely pop up. I'm a character and relationship writer first and foremost but a smut author secondarily. Finally, this is a story about drow and not all of the relationships are nice or good. If you're cool with that, I invite you to read. If not, no hard feelings.

I used to do a lot of Danganronpa and Identity V content, which you can still find in the tags. I might archive some of my Twitter art here down the line, but most of it is old art by this point. I still sometimes post IDV, and specifically Edgar Valden ships.

I have a serialized fantasy web-novel, which is being posted to its own Tumblr and AO3. If you liked my fandom writing, you should check it out. It updates rather sporadically, but it's always going to be there when the motivation hits. Those characters are older than some preschoolers.

i've branched out in recent years; like my fellow taggers, i write for fewer fandoms that i'm in. food takes ages to cook and even longer to actually commit to. i started with mdzs/cql and tgcf before moving to shl/tyk, though now i mostly write trigun and video game fic.

4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?

LOL it's an open ending but the implications are pretty clear - 美丽的日子; beautiful days

most of them end happy, except when they don't :)

not really. i did for a stint back in 2021 when that anon was going around but it was honestly very funny for me.

sometimes.

just the one time, not usually. it was a threadfic - a mdzs/tgcf crossover where wwx was raised by hualian instead of the jiangs.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

yeah. the good ole ctrl+f+replace of names. i remember they even stole my author's note. i'd said something to the effect of "i have to go study..." (i was in high school) and they added "which i didn't even end up doing..."

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

yes and i think fic translation is so cool!

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

nope.

14. what's your all time favorite ship?

EVER?

but it's honestly a rotating rotisserie throughout life of my fav ships depending on what i'm hungry for at a given moment. it's 2024 and i'm back in ff7 hell, for instance.

15. what is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

歃血; blood oath, and it pains me deeply to admit. not because i have any measure of anxiety about returning to it, or feel any pressure, but because it genuinely had one of my favorite premises and setups, was super gory and horrific, and i'd packed in every crazy trope i love into the outline. i was really excited about. then the fandom imploded and i can't look at it anymore.

she's my white whale. i'd finish it for @megafaunatic alone.

16. what are your writing strengths?

atmosphere. payoff. saying things are like other things. i understand this is annoying for some people though, which is fair.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

i put off every single sex scene in a fic until i had written everything else, such that i had to sit and write 10,000 words, spread across three scenes, of sex. worst week of my life.

internal logic, because i think it's so obvious in my head that i forget to explain it in words on the page.

i think i always can improve on character voice. that's an eternal work in progress.

18. thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics?

it's cool. probably good to consult a native speaker if writer of the fic doesn't speak it, though?

19. first fandom you wrote for?

christ. harry potter, by hand, in pencil, in an a5 notebook.

20. favorite fic you have written?

recency bias compels me to say by the time the apocalypse began, because i worked my ass and head off for it, and i ended up really happy with how it turned out. sci-fi's not really my wheelhouse.

i have a huge soft spot for my clj arranged marriage fic, 双命; twin fates, because i had such a blast writing it. and 总有一天; a place to hide (can’t find one near) will always be special to me, because it was like taking a huge, glittering, orgasmic shit.

while i am happy w the face and general style rules (spiky fur and fluffy anime furry ears, large paw hands with less definition between fingers when unflexed, defined toes) i decided to try out a more drop crotch style on the body, inspired by the drop crotch fursuit style which resembles a lot of older furry cartoons imo. i might widen the stance to better fit the anatomy of the fursuit style tho (esp cuz the back is awkward like this)

1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?

I started with art, then began writing, then started animating, and recently uploaded a fanvid 😅

I'm proud of them all because they are all part of the progress 😌

2. What fandom(s) do you create for?

Supergirl. I'm counting my Sadie/Saskia vid as supercorp.

3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?

Supercorp. And apparently a lot of people don't like them because they hated supergirl? (At least according to tumblr tags in polls. But those people also accuse them of being too straight...)

4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?

They are in my heart. Also, I feel that their last conversation was as close to canon as they could get.

5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?

I was deep into Harry Potter for a long while in my life. That's what got me into fanfiction and tumblr. I still have a sweet spot for what it represented to me in my childhood and the stuff I took away from it despite the actions of some extreme lady.

6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?

My Twilight Au fic 🤣

Was written as a parody, but somehow ended up being way too wholesome.

The power of pasta is my one crack fic, so there's also that.

7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?

I was an avid consumer for years, but it was all thanks to the Supergirl fandom that I dared to try and create something. I was in the process of coming out and accepting myself for who I am, which, despite being in a very open and accepting environment and family, was really hard on me. Both the show, and especially the fandom, were what helped me not only to come out but also to see it in a positive light. It made me understand the meaning of pride, and I am forever grateful for that. That's why I decided to dedicate my time to creating stuff myself as thanks to this amazing community and to do my best to keep it active.♥️

8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?

Some, yes. I have a few friends who know I write, but had not read any of my stuff. I have a few I share my art with, though.

9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?

Someone wrote a fic based on my art a while ago, and I'm still excited about it!

10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?

Depends on the content. Each piece has its own purpose. I try to aim for fluff, but I've been told I accidentally write a lot of angst... oops?

11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?

I'm always excited when fandom friends tell me they like my stuff. Or just anyone in general. It just warms my heart.

Lena was the one to drag Andea to sneak out of school for a change. Only unlike her best friend, Lena didn't drag her out to a party or to drink alcohol, but instead to the local game shop where she could learn more about that mysterious game. Andrea wasn't as excited as her, but reluctantly agreed (if only to get out of trigonometry class). Fight for Justice, while being a bit too cheesy, Lena couldn't deny the strange allure of the name. She was fascinated to learn the different ways the game could change from moment to moment, the various objectives one can approach to win the game, and she couldn't help but absolutely adore the art on each and every card.

14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)

I try to always comment, and especially on stuff I like. I don't think I have a specific style tho😅

I have about 12 that I actively started, but more that are in the concept phase. Ideally, I'll finish them all eventually.

17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?

It's been almost 2 years since I started The Art Of The Game. I'm close to the end, but it's been a while...

rpf rambles again

progress on the bingo card oh yeah!! (yes this is an entirely manufactured set of goals. however if you know me at all you know i love a good list, and this is just a list of ideas places into a square)

first visual art of the season is the vladdy pink lingerie situation and ykw. it is really fun! his face is not quite what i was envisioning but i spent 3-4 hours on the whole thing in 1 evening (design, all of the cutting and gluing and looking for the right papers, photos to post) rather than what must have been 12-15 or possibly more over several days for my other collages of this general style, so i can't be too upset. it was fun and i'm glad i made it :)

i think i will need to make a davis in lacy lingerie collage sometime now that i'm in the mindset... maybe to go with my sequel fic to honey etcetcetc (i do have a long title problem) when i actually write it one day

i am at a place in at least 1, possibly 2 wips where i have realized that i still do not know how to write porn. this is to be expected given that i am still quite new to writing fic and my first couple of fics were essentially me avoiding writing porn at all costs. however i think i do not know how to proceed.

i have however narrowed down the issues:

1. i am intensely Not Into what i am writing so i cannot really tell if it works or not as well as i can tell if a scene that isn't supposed to be sexy works (you may ask: kate, why are you writing porn you don't even think is hot? and i will say: it is logistically and narratively interesting so i like it anyway in other senses + this is men's baseball rpf and i'm a massive faggot in the wrong direction for it to be particularly hot to me no matter what)

2. i am specifically having issues showing the passage of time without just adding more words. sometimes i want to express that A didn't literally just shove his fingers in B's ass for 2 seconds, pull them out, and move on, but i also don't feel like writing a full page of narratively boring anal fingering to show that time is passing. and if i do some kind of "this went on for a while before xyz other thing" then my porn starts reading like a grocery list which is likely not sexy to anyone. i surely have many porn writing issues but i have determined that this is the worst one (if you have any advice please share!!! maybe dm? whatever works)

moving on from my sex issues that are actually kg/cb's sex issues at the moment. i am so obsessed with my physics boy alan roden and i need to rpf about him but i have absolutely no situations for him yet and no concept of him as a character. this will surely develop throughout the season and i am very excited for that to happen because physics boy!!! he's just like me! (if i did astrophysics instead of biophysics, and if i were a male baseball player instead of doing grad school, and if i got nasa grants, and if ... you get the point)

my list of fics i need to write is expanding rapidly, and i am not writing any of them rapidly, which is scary because i want them all to exist! number 1 priority is my romansen tour fic + my d/e team lift fic, number 2 is my godawful stupid evil kg/cb sequel that idk why i started writing but i can't stop now, and number 3 is about 10 other things that are all haunting me as well. it's bad.

I’ve had a tumblr for like… six months now? It’s been a writeblr for four or five of those

What led you to create it?

I don’t remember why I made the account originally. I made it into a writeblr because I wanted someplace to ramble about my first original WIP in like five years

What’s your favorite thing about the Writeblr community?

Y’all are so friendly and supportive! I love how nice people are and every comment I get :)

What’s one thing you’d like your mutuals to know about you?

I jump around between projects more than I’d like. I swear I am still working on Seven Stations, I’m just also doing a bit of other stuff and being hella busy, which is why I haven’t made much progress on it. I haven’t forgotten it, I swear!

Is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?

Can’t think of much, I’m pretty happy. I do love polls though. Something about clicking buttons makes the brain go brrrrrr

Which Works-in-Progress (WIPs) or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?

Always Seven Stations and Pirates’ Roost. They never leave me. I do also have another fanfic short I’m working on because it possessed my brain, but that’s a very short-term project

How long have you been working on them?

Seven Stations (the original idea) is about five months old now. Pirates’ Roost has existed in one form or another for about four years, and has existed in its current form for about two. My random short is a week old lol

Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?

Seven Stations was inspired by the concept of “lesbian noblewoman and her bodyguard who hates her enemies to lovers in space fantasy.” Pirates’ Roost was inspired by my obsession with Magic: the Gathering and started taking shape in its current form when my gf introduced me to her OC Merry and decided to move him to Ixalan. My short is inspired by the fact that I can’t stop thinking about Star Wars: the Clone Wars

How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?

Uh. A lot. My WIPs are my special interest, so probably at least several hours a day

When someone asks the dreaded, “What do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?

“Fantasy and sci-fi.” Sometimes if we’re in a longer conversation I’ll give them a little Seven Stations blurb, although it rarely goes longer than “space fantasy political drama on a set of space stations”

Characters

Name any characters you created.  Side characters, protagonists, antagonists, characters who’ve never been written, the first original abomination you ever pulled from your ass; whomever you’d like!

Oh boy, okay. This is interesting because my gf created or had such a strong creative influence on so many of the characters I write about that I can’t lay claim to a lot of them. But here’s some that I at least came up with the initial baseline for, although she’s probably had her influence on most of them too (I can’t exactly remember for sure but I’m pretty sure on these ones):

Once again it’s Cassie. And Stellaris, he’s very relatable

Do you ever cringe at them?

All the damn time

How much control do you feel you have over your characters?  AKA, do they ever “write themselves,” refuse to cooperate, or do things you didn’t expect? To what degree? Are some less cooperative than others?

They refuse to cooperate on a semi-regular basis. I can usually tell when I’m fighting to justify the action I want them to do. That means it’s time for a change-up

Do you enjoy people asking questions about your characters? And do you have a preferred means of receiving said questions? For example, as Asks, as replies, as reblogs, as tag notes, as comments on AO3, etc.

Literally anytime for any reason. I love it. Asks and reblog dare my favourite, but I’m not picky :)

What makes you want to follow another Writeblr account? Do you follow ‘em as you see ‘em, or take time scoping out the blog to make sure you align with its content? Do you follow based on WIPs, or vibes?

I follow writeblrs if I like the look of their stuff enough that I want it on my dash

What makes you decide against following?

Anything that makes me uncomfortable (ranging anywhere from weird takes to content I just don’t like). Or if I’m just not vibing with their stuff. But sometimes I miss cool blogs too because I don’t have time to check out everything

It was ORIGINALLY just going to be panel 4! My idea was "Jacqueline enjoying an end of year/christmas snowfall" but then. My brain went, omg, she's waiting at the window, THE WINDOW Dani. What if. What if we did a comparison. From when she was little and waiting and Jack didn't come to like, now, and Jack DOES come?? WHAT IF. WHAT IF WE ADDED LIKE, A BIT WHERE THE PARENTS BRING HER SLEEPING BUTT TO BED. BC SHE FELL ASLEEP WAITING FOR HIM. BECAUSE HE NEVER CAME. AND THEN. JACK ARRIVING 1400 YEARS LATER. WHAT IF. I was trying to recreate the effect I did on the FIRST bb Jacqueline in this ol thang!

I'd used one of my metallic markers (thicc boy not the new ones I think) that sometimes has too much ink on it to drop a blob and then spread it to get the effect

but I couldn't fucking remember what I used to spread it. White pencil crayon? The blenders? Metallic white-thin tip? Brush tip?

This is bc I did that first Jacqueline LAST THURSDAY and the fourth Jacqueline THIS past Thursday or Wednesday, I believe

In the end I ended up grabbing the metallic blue pencil crayon and using that as the base, then whooshing over it with the white brush tip and THEN using the blender/v light blue watercolour marker.

(Cursed the powers that be that I didn't think of it sooner! lmao)

the pants are supposed to be the same ones from the fit she wore as a bb bc that's what she got stabbed in and B-Man fixed em up for her and they grew with her and SYMBOLISM or something

They were her favourite jammies and still are lol

i don't think ?? i've written one with an angsty ending ??? i try to resolve things bc im a sucker for hurt/comfort ,,, the only thing i can think of is a wip i had for the hypmic series as it was sorta canon/fanon compliant . and also a be more chill wip that was angsty canon compliant . we don't talk abt those tho

::sweats nervously:: not anymore ! i used to, but it's hard enough to write for one set of characters, let alone two + exploring relationships that never had an opportunity to actually connect <\3 i do miss it though

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

ohoho now that's a loaded question. i have this long ass 17k word wip for a haikyuu oneshot that was based on an among us game. a fucking among us game. i did so much research for it and i had every point i wanted to hit but the friend who i was writing it for (kinda) grew really distant and we don't talk anymore </3 it sucks because i am super proud of it but when i go back to it it kinda stings from what it's associated with </3 also there's a be more chill fic i started like 3+ years ago

What are your writing strengths?

hmm ! honest to god i don't know but i'd like to think im pretty decent when it comes to describing location/scenery/emotions perhaps. maybe not as strong on the dialogue but that's what the no dialogue tag is there for 🫡

What are your writing weaknesses?

yes ! transition scenes are definitely one of many </3 bouncing back and forth with dialogue is also difficult bc i feel weird only having lines of dialogue </3 also writers block is a cruel mistress . rough out here

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

it's so cool if you do it well 💪 im so uneasy about writing other languages in fics since i only speak english so i don't know if things are correct grammatically or if they even make sense </3 the last thing i want is for it to look like i used google translate </3

honestly ??? i have no idea. i joked about dreamtheory/securitywaiter and tbh i miss them so if the brainrot gets bad enough i may have to write smth ,,,, /lh

perhaps it's obvious but im very attached to my chaptered lrmm rewrite :,3 it's also one of the longest fics ive written so fair and have made the most progress on so im kinda riding that high:3 but also "down bad" that was kinda fire

Rules I am altering to loose-instructions cause I ain’t ever played by a set rule a day in my life: make a new post (or reblog if you prefer) with the names of all the files/docs in your working WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. People send an ask with the title/placeholder that most intrigues them, then you post a snippet or tell them something about it! (I’ll probably post a snippet, since I’m giving these descriptions for context.)

These are all my WIPs for The Aid (shocker), some of these are actually finished, but since I haven’t posted them yet, fuck it, they’re WIPs as far as I’m concerned. Others are in various states of disarray, AKA drafts. Some are actively being worked on, others I haven’t touched in months (maybe even a year at this point?) Needless to say, all this is subject to change before it reaches the “final draft” (because is it ever really done?) stage, and just assume it’s non-cannon until you see it in a chapter, ight? Additionally, I have a shit load of world building articles I am also working on, but for the sake of my sanity, I won’t be sharing those drafts yet cause some messes you gotta keep to yourself—there’s too many undecided things I’m actively ironing out, kay?

(Unfortunately Benny doesn’t have more chapters right now, but I have big plans of giving Mr. Man his very own prequel backstory apart from all this at some point. I know this is all very Aid-heavy, but make no mistake, he is just as much as a staple main character here!)

That being said, as always, here’s The Aid’s general content warnings (I haven’t written any Cannibalism Lite™️—“anthrophages” AKA my zombies, crazy and starving wasteland people, & freak ass Wyatt Mariana Trench level rock-bottom behavior—yet, so don’t worry I wouldn’t throw that at you even if I had any to, nor have I fully written or would post out of context snippets containing the more heavy themes without warning.)

***(Just a quick note: some of these are backstory bits, others are part of the progressing storyline, I’ll try to distinguish each.)

WIPs:

Soothsayer: the next chronological Aid chapter! The Aid awakens from a nightmare only to find Vinny high af rummaging in his kitchen and looking for [insert drug and cigarettes here].

(NSFW, M/F) Her: The Aid is tried up by his Madame’s (adult) granddaughter, Taylor, during what was supposed to be one of their “therapy sessions” (thanks Waylon) that took a turn south. She blackmails him into performing oral—and what do ya know, maybe he even ends up kinda liking it.

(Graphic violence) Volumes: previously the first chapter, but has since been partially reworked to serve as backstory. Wyatt stabs The Aid and he dies from blood loss, but is brought back to life, thanks to the work of Vinny’s medical combat training. This is the event leading to the turning point from Basement Days to The Aid’s reintroduction into the main house (big deal narratively).

(NSFW, M/M) Modus Vivendi: part of the progressing storyline, and where the fuck do I begin? CW’s for intimate, creepy whumper, graphic dub-con turned non-con, biting & blood slurping, suicide ideation, helplessness, and bulimia—this is a rough one. Wyatt comes to claim his Monday morning agreement and The Aid reluctantly gives him what he wants in hopes it will be quick and relatively painless—spoiler, it’s not.

(Graphic violence) Lessons: random parts of what I think I thought day 1 of Basement Days would look like? (Has since changed from what I wrote and I haven’t touched this in quite some time.)

Dinner & Dignity (5-part Vignette): flashback backstory segment that’s finished, taking place 1 month after Wyatt’s acquisition of The Aid (before things got *horrible,* but it’s still bad cause Wyatt’s a dick).

Comfortably Numb: during Basement Days (an era of the backstory). Vinny comes to clean up The Aid after a torture sesh, who’s naked and covered in blood and wounds, because he needs help tracking down a lead suspect of ripping off an associate’s shipment (Vinny’s using The Aid’s abilities for the Sullivans’ business dealings). Think weird af bath with some guy’s hands all over you but you’re too weak to slap him away. Vinny gives The Aid enough oxy to get him high and loose—does The Aid comply and do what Vinny wants in hopes Vinny will feed him and give him some clothes? Or does he refuse to help him since he’s sick of the blood on his hands and is pissed at Vinny for turning his back on him? Who knows—cause I sure as fuck don’t yet.

(NSFW) High Like an Eagle: part 1 is finished, and it’s more NSFW-themed as there’s light groping, teasing, and dressing as opposed to straight up non-con—but can’t say the same for the rest of this (that isn’t written yet)! This is a BDSM red-room backstory chapter that involves recorded and streamed torture for paying patrons of The Aid’s disgraceful downfall—because fuck that Mystic slave for trying to kill his Master, amirite?

(NSFW, M/M non-con, beating, drowning, burning + gun)“Tortured Instead”: part of the Beta Reader Holiday Gift Exchange my lame ass is still working on (for @whumped-by-glitter)! A very lengthy multi-parter featuring The Aid & Benny + a ridiculous prequel featuring Wyatt & Vinny arguing! (Part of the current storyline)

Ghost Stories: another very lengthy multi-part segment of the Beta Reader Holiday Gift Exchange my lame ass is still working on (for @3-2-whump)! This one is SFW (but still adult-themed) and instead spooky/weird, but still whumpy af, and best yet, features a rare inside look of The Aid’s and Benny’s starting dynamic! (Part of the current storyline)
