Okay, so life (especially work) is riding my ass hard. And not in the fun way. Reading, writing, fandom all has to take a backseat and it might be some time before I can dive in back fully. But I'm trying because this is fun and I love this community - so thank you to everyone for tagging me, commenting on my fics, sending me messages and generally making me feel appreciated 💜💜💜

It's only those three for now because I wanna focus on steddie week and these are the only entries I have written something for so far. God knows if I'll be able to finish anything in time.

He is jolted out of his thoughts when Steve throws the comic he was reading at Eddie's head, cursing loudly. "What the fuck?"

"Ouch! What the hell was that for?"

Steve glares at him, then at the obviously offensive comic he'd been reading, Daredevil #181. Eddie is really invested in the Matt Murdock story, so when he unwrapped Steve's gift and found three Daredevil comics and a black and red guitar pick that looked metal as hell, the butterflies in Eddie's stomach had started to flutter in earnest for the first time. Steve is invested in the story too, even if he won't admit it. His current reaction tells Eddie all he needs to know.

"This," Steve hisses, pointing at the comic, "is fucking bullshit. You can't just let the Kingpin kill Elektra!"

"Hey! I haven't read it yet, asshole. Thanks for ruining the whole story." Eddie sulks, and it's even about 80 percent sincere, because damn it, he was looking forward to reading this and see where the story goes. Now it seems like a waste of time because he won’t be able to enjoy any of it knowing it’ll end so tragically.

It seems like Steve can tell that Eddie is really bummed about this because he scoots over to the edge of the bed and looks down at Eddie with his best puppy dog eyes, his voice soft and sincere when he tells Eddie he's sorry. Eddie can see the flecks of gold and green swirling in Steve's eyes this close, and he feels his anger float away on a cloud of helpless adoration. He wants to hold onto it, chew Steve out, make fun of him, or even use it as an excuse to get on the bed and wrestle with him, just to feel Steve's body against his.

Steve keeps looking at him, waiting for Eddie to say something, to do something, and maybe he can. Maybe Eddie can jump up and tackle Steve, pinning him to the bed with his body. Maybe he can put his hands on Steve, tickle him, feel all that exposed skin under his greedy fingertips.

Maybe...

But no. He can't. He's not Frodo, willing to risk it all on the slim chance that it might work out.

i've branched out in recent years; like my fellow taggers, i write for fewer fandoms that i'm in. food takes ages to cook and even longer to actually commit to. i started with mdzs/cql and tgcf before moving to shl/tyk, though now i mostly write trigun and video game fic.

4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?

LOL it's an open ending but the implications are pretty clear - 美丽的日子; beautiful days

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

most of them end happy, except when they don't :)

8. do you get hate on fics?

not really. i did for a stint back in 2021 when that anon was going around but it was honestly very funny for me.

9. do you write smut?

sometimes.

10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you have written?

just the one time, not usually. it was a threadfic - a mdzs/tgcf crossover where wwx was raised by hualian instead of the jiangs.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

yeah. the good ole ctrl+f+replace of names. i remember they even stole my author's note. i'd said something to the effect of "i have to go study..." (i was in high school) and they added "which i didn't even end up doing..."

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

yes and i think fic translation is so cool!

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

nope.

14. what's your all time favorite ship?

EVER?

pirates of the caribbean will/elizabeth.

but it's honestly a rotating rotisserie throughout life of my fav ships depending on what i'm hungry for at a given moment. it's 2024 and i'm back in ff7 hell, for instance.

15. what is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

歃血; blood oath, and it pains me deeply to admit. not because i have any measure of anxiety about returning to it, or feel any pressure, but because it genuinely had one of my favorite premises and setups, was super gory and horrific, and i'd packed in every crazy trope i love into the outline. i was really excited about. then the fandom imploded and i can't look at it anymore.

she's my white whale. i'd finish it for @megafaunatic alone.

16. what are your writing strengths?

atmosphere. payoff. saying things are like other things. i understand this is annoying for some people though, which is fair.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

i put off every single sex scene in a fic until i had written everything else, such that i had to sit and write 10,000 words, spread across three scenes, of sex. worst week of my life.

internal logic, because i think it's so obvious in my head that i forget to explain it in words on the page.

i think i always can improve on character voice. that's an eternal work in progress.

18. thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics?

it's cool. probably good to consult a native speaker if writer of the fic doesn't speak it, though?

19. first fandom you wrote for?

christ. harry potter, by hand, in pencil, in an a5 notebook.

20. favorite fic you have written?

recency bias compels me to say by the time the apocalypse began, because i worked my ass and head off for it, and i ended up really happy with how it turned out. sci-fi's not really my wheelhouse.

i have a huge soft spot for my clj arranged marriage fic, 双命; twin fates, because i had such a blast writing it. and 总有一天; a place to hide (can’t find one near) will always be special to me, because it was like taking a huge, glittering, orgasmic shit.

still developing this art style (for context this is an oc of an oc so i have to develop the OC's art style)

while i am happy w the face and general style rules (spiky fur and fluffy anime furry ears, large paw hands with less definition between fingers when unflexed, defined toes) i decided to try out a more drop crotch style on the body, inspired by the drop crotch fursuit style which resembles a lot of older furry cartoons imo. i might widen the stance to better fit the anatomy of the fursuit style tho (esp cuz the back is awkward like this)

1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?

I started with art, then began writing, then started animating, and recently uploaded a fanvid 😅

I'm proud of them all because they are all part of the progress 😌

2. What fandom(s) do you create for?

Supergirl. I'm counting my Sadie/Saskia vid as supercorp.

3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?

Supercorp. And apparently a lot of people don't like them because they hated supergirl? (At least according to tumblr tags in polls. But those people also accuse them of being too straight...)

4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?

They are in my heart. Also, I feel that their last conversation was as close to canon as they could get.

5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?

I was deep into Harry Potter for a long while in my life. That's what got me into fanfiction and tumblr. I still have a sweet spot for what it represented to me in my childhood and the stuff I took away from it despite the actions of some extreme lady.

6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?

My Twilight Au fic 🤣

Was written as a parody, but somehow ended up being way too wholesome.

The power of pasta is my one crack fic, so there's also that.

7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?

I was an avid consumer for years, but it was all thanks to the Supergirl fandom that I dared to try and create something. I was in the process of coming out and accepting myself for who I am, which, despite being in a very open and accepting environment and family, was really hard on me. Both the show, and especially the fandom, were what helped me not only to come out but also to see it in a positive light. It made me understand the meaning of pride, and I am forever grateful for that. That's why I decided to dedicate my time to creating stuff myself as thanks to this amazing community and to do my best to keep it active.♥️

8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?

Some, yes. I have a few friends who know I write, but had not read any of my stuff. I have a few I share my art with, though.

9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?

Someone wrote a fic based on my art a while ago, and I'm still excited about it!

10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?

Depends on the content. Each piece has its own purpose. I try to aim for fluff, but I've been told I accidentally write a lot of angst... oops?

11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?

I'm always excited when fandom friends tell me they like my stuff. Or just anyone in general. It just warms my heart.

Kara sheepishly nodded.

"Well, yes. Very. But that's our lives now, I suppose," Alex shrugged and shoved her hands in her jeans's pockets.

"You mean my life. You're going to badass school for ass kicking," Kara teased her sister.

Because apparently I'm not done making AUs based on questionable IPs.

Lena was the one to drag Andea to sneak out of school for a change. Only unlike her best friend, Lena didn't drag her out to a party or to drink alcohol, but instead to the local game shop where she could learn more about that mysterious game. Andrea wasn't as excited as her, but reluctantly agreed (if only to get out of trigonometry class). Fight for Justice, while being a bit too cheesy, Lena couldn't deny the strange allure of the name. She was fascinated to learn the different ways the game could change from moment to moment, the various objectives one can approach to win the game, and she couldn't help but absolutely adore the art on each and every card.

14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)

I try to always comment, and especially on stuff I like. I don't think I have a specific style tho😅

I have about 12 that I actively started, but more that are in the concept phase. Ideally, I'll finish them all eventually.

17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?

It's been almost 2 years since I started The Art Of The Game. I'm close to the end, but it's been a while...

I feel like a foreigner when I see stuff from other fandoms, and I usually don't know enough about it to interact with it.

-Watch Over Me by cakeisatruth-- COMPLETE-- “ Little Sisters can be cured in a matter of seconds, but it takes far longer for one to overcome everything she's been brainwashed to believe.” A really good fic from the perspective of a recovering Little Sister!! I especially love this fic. 

-Bei Mir Bist Du Sheon by poppywine-- WIP--  “ Brigid Tenenbaum has put the worst of Rapture behind her. That's the good news. The bad news is that a part of it is now standing on her porch.” As stated, this fic is still in progress, but the writing is wonderful, and I’m really excited to see where it goes!!

-With Friends Like These.... by gummysharksupremacy --WIP--- this one is actually about remorseful!Bad End Jack which I found intriguing from the start!! Basically he wakes up after the events of the game and is trying to make his way out of Rapture. Has some Infinite/BAS elements but I havent played either of those and it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the fic. Honestly can be enjoyed as a standalone and is a really awesome fic!!

-Atonement for Bygone Sins by foorocks10-- WIP-- “Delta wakes in the ashes of failure. In the ashes of Rapture.Babylon has fallen. And yet Sophia Lamb seeks to build something greater and more terrible from Rapture's ashes.” I actually just discovered this one the other day!! 

-Here Comes the Sun by Riddle_of_the_sphinx --WIP-- “There are others I must help before this city drowns..... or, basically Delta decides that he’s going to save as many people as he can so they can see the sun.” This fic actually had me laughing out loud, Delta has such a sassy inner commentary. I’m excited to see where this one goes, as well!!

-There Is No Rapture by necroticboop-- WIP-- this fic is basically a fleshing out of Brigid Tenenbaum’s whole backstory and it is SOOOO GOOD omg. If you like Brigid please read this story and give the author some feedback because it is SO. GOOD.

-Underwater Eden by jadrea-- WIP-- “It is much to his surprise that Augustus Sinclair finds he's alive.” This one’s got MAPS and stuff like those really good fantasy books from middle school. Promising, I must say, LOL. 

-The Prodigal Son by malice-and-macarons-- WIP--”Atlas wakes up.Death, he thinks, would have been kinder.” I think this one is actually pretty popular amongst the Bioshock fanbase (small as it may be) but just in case you havent seen it, here it is!! 

Final note: I know we all love the instant gratification of already completed fic, and don’t like waiting for updates (I know, me too!) but I encourage anyone looking for something to read to give the WIP’s a try, and leave nice comments for the authors if you enjoyed the story! It’s hard to write when you feel like noone cares. If you want content, you have to validate the content creators!!

Basics

How long have you had your writing Tumblr/Writeblr? A fast and loose estimate is fine!

I’ve had a tumblr for like… six months now? It’s been a writeblr for four or five of those

What led you to create it?

I don’t remember why I made the account originally. I made it into a writeblr because I wanted someplace to ramble about my first original WIP in like five years

What’s your favorite thing about the Writeblr community?

Y’all are so friendly and supportive! I love how nice people are and every comment I get :)

What’s one thing you’d like your mutuals to know about you?

I jump around between projects more than I’d like. I swear I am still working on Seven Stations, I’m just also doing a bit of other stuff and being hella busy, which is why I haven’t made much progress on it. I haven’t forgotten it, I swear!

Is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?

Can’t think of much, I’m pretty happy. I do love polls though. Something about clicking buttons makes the brain go brrrrrr

WIPs

Which Works-in-Progress (WIPs) or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?

Always Seven Stations and Pirates’ Roost. They never leave me. I do also have another fanfic short I’m working on because it possessed my brain, but that’s a very short-term project

How long have you been working on them?

Seven Stations (the original idea) is about five months old now. Pirates’ Roost has existed in one form or another for about four years, and has existed in its current form for about two. My random short is a week old lol

Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?

Seven Stations was inspired by the concept of “lesbian noblewoman and her bodyguard who hates her enemies to lovers in space fantasy.” Pirates’ Roost was inspired by my obsession with Magic: the Gathering and started taking shape in its current form when my gf introduced me to her OC Merry and decided to move him to Ixalan. My short is inspired by the fact that I can’t stop thinking about Star Wars: the Clone Wars

How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?

Uh. A lot. My WIPs are my special interest, so probably at least several hours a day

When someone asks the dreaded, “What do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?

“Fantasy and sci-fi.” Sometimes if we’re in a longer conversation I’ll give them a little Seven Stations blurb, although it rarely goes longer than “space fantasy political drama on a set of space stations”

Characters

Name any characters you created.  Side characters, protagonists, antagonists, characters who’ve never been written, the first original abomination you ever pulled from your ass; whomever you’d like!

Oh boy, okay. This is interesting because my gf created or had such a strong creative influence on so many of the characters I write about that I can’t lay claim to a lot of them. But here’s some that I at least came up with the initial baseline for, although she’s probably had her influence on most of them too (I can’t exactly remember for sure but I’m pretty sure on these ones):

Once again it’s Cassie. And Stellaris, he’s very relatable

Do you ever cringe at them?

All the damn time

How much control do you feel you have over your characters?  AKA, do they ever “write themselves,” refuse to cooperate, or do things you didn’t expect? To what degree? Are some less cooperative than others?

They refuse to cooperate on a semi-regular basis. I can usually tell when I’m fighting to justify the action I want them to do. That means it’s time for a change-up

Do you enjoy people asking questions about your characters? And do you have a preferred means of receiving said questions? For example, as Asks, as replies, as reblogs, as tag notes, as comments on AO3, etc.

Literally anytime for any reason. I love it. Asks and reblog dare my favourite, but I’m not picky :)

Interaction

What makes you want to follow another Writeblr account? Do you follow ‘em as you see ‘em, or take time scoping out the blog to make sure you align with its content? Do you follow based on WIPs, or vibes?

I follow writeblrs if I like the look of their stuff enough that I want it on my dash

What makes you decide against following?

Anything that makes me uncomfortable (ranging anywhere from weird takes to content I just don’t like). Or if I’m just not vibing with their stuff. But sometimes I miss cool blogs too because I don’t have time to check out everything

Do you interact with non-mutuals often?

Not super often because I don’t often see their stuff but I’m not opposed to it. Feel free to come chat with me even if you’re not my mutual :)

Oh yeah. Both the people who tagged me in this have characters I think about. But also @illarian-rambling has phenomenal OCs - Sepo lives in my brain on the little shelf of my favourite traumatized fictional little guys

I respond to most comments. I love it when people comment. It makes me happy to hear what people think about my fics. or that they are just reading it at all.

Heartbreaking Confession. It has to be one of the shortest things i've ever written but man, there is just no hope.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

His Brave Boy . It just got attention recently due to a tik tok and i CRIED. I love this little one shot so much.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

The only reason i've ever gotten hate on a fic is because people don't want to read tags or think they can dictate how my story is going to progress.

I have a whole ass second account for my smut fics thank you very much.

One i have saved with 20k words in my documents about Harry having actual prophetic dreams about death because of the killing curse and through that ends up saving the minister of magic and being adopted by Voldemort.

Yo man idk thats too much internal thinking for me.

Sentence structure. Grammar. Confidence.

I don't even try. I say either the main character didn't understand it, generalize the conversation, or mention that its in another language.

Sunday Snippet

several lovely writers, @fangbangerghoul, @bearlytolerant, and @therealgchu, reminded me it is Sunday and I do have a snippet to share, of the non-starfield variety. Today we're taking a peek at Dawn and seeing what she's up to out in the Commonwealth.

Like the lovelies above, I'm going to more generally tag THe Coemancer Crew and anyone else who has a wip they might want to share a peek of. No pressure and it doesn't have to be writing either! Fang shared progress of a portrait that was top notch!

I'm going to throw a chunk of the snippet under a read more because its a little longer today.

“Alright, alright,” Ripshank popped the door open, the quick movement overpowering the squeak, “I take it the old man is struggling to get the wires to stay?”

“I heard that!” Walt shouted down from above, “get your ass up here and bring the needle nose pliers while your at it.”

“What have you been doing up there?” Ripshank asked incredulously with his head turned toward the sky. He was shaking his head while stepped outside, his nose wrinkled up like he smelled something rotten.

“Shut it and move,” Walt commanded.

Preston reached for the door but Dawn raised her hand for him to stop, “leave it. Fresh air could do me some good and it’ll make it easier to holler if I need something.”

He bowed his head and retreated from the door. If Dawn knew him well enough, Preston would be patrolling the parameter, laser musket at the ready for any hostile movements. Chloe had mentioned he’d been wearing a path in the tall grass around the old listening post, taking longer shifts than the others and worrying the team. Dawn thought about calling after him but she knew it wouldn’t do any good. He didn’t listen to her back in the Hills, he wouldn't listen to her here.

Dawn went back to sipping her water and resting her eyes. It didn’t take too long for her mind to wander to Diamond City, to the Dugout Inn tucked away in the wall. Yefim posted up near the open archway to the rooms and Vadim at his spot behind the bar with his big, welcoming smile plastered on his face. To the first night she wandered into the crowded bar.

Vadim had been regaling a customer with a tale of his adventures before coming to Diamond City. Something about facing off with one of the most dangerous creatures in the wastes, the punchline, at least to the patron, being that the creature was a mirelurk. The man scoffed at the notion, pointing out that many deal with mirelurks all the time, but Dawn was intrigued. Sure, average mirelurks and their softshell cousins were pushovers with the right equipment but even in her short time in the wastes she’d come to find very dangerous variants. The sorts of creatures many would not walk away from. His customer walked away with their beer, leaving his story unfinished.

“See this bar? I killed a man for it. Ha ha! No, no…I kid…I kid…” he had said from behind the bar as she made her approach. His smile had dropped for a moment as he cleared his throat, “He is dead, though… Now, let me know when you’re ready to order.”

From the unfinished tale to the dark humored joke, it was one of the more memorable first impressions Dawn had experienced in her life, which was saying something considering how many eccentric people she’d met since waking up in the vault. Mama Murphy and her drug fueled ‘sight’ swearing she knew where Shaun was if only she had another hit of jet. Moe Cronin and his outlandish stories of how baseball was played and how the bats, or swatters as he called them, were used to attack runners. Or the hypocrite Myrna with her paranoia over synthetics while using Percy, a well maintained Mr. Handy, for overnight sales, who started conversations with new customers with a question over whether they were human or not. And so many more traveling merchants on the roads between the Hills and Diamond City. None of them had a laugh or smile that lit up her soul quite like Vadim Bobrov. None of them had joy as infectious.

“I’d love a glass of the house special, served however the proprietor enjoys it,” Dawn had said as she sat down on the closest stool, her eyes locked with Vadim, a coy smile on her face.

“A woman after my heart,” he had said quietly before laughing and more loudly announcing, “one Bobrov’s Best coming up.”

Neither of them had realized then how true that little off hand remark would become. At the time Dawn was simply being playful, trying to distract from her anger toward her second after the blowout fight behind ArcJet. She just wanted to drink, laugh, and lay her head down under a solid roof that wasn’t formerly a gas station. To get peace and quiet without the constant rattling of turrets. Without inconveniencing a new friend like a stay at Arturo’s would have been. And she got all she wanted that night as well as much she hadn’t bargained for.

Vadim was a charmer, with his warm smile and honeyed words. Loud and boisterous with his regulars and yet his hushed comments as he served her or passed by her stool were charged with more energy that warmed her cold heart. Then came the dancing, annoying his regulars while they swayed around the floor to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Marty Robbins, and Kay Kyser. It was like he’d transported her back to her favorite dive bar out west, a feeling that batted all her worries away.

His strong hand on her hip leading her around was almost magical. The way his lips clumsily brushed against her ears when he leaned in to whisper his sweet nothings stole her breath every time. He made her feel like they were they only people in the bar, all his attention focused on her. All the while his regular patrons complained about the slower service and bitched at their barkeep to focus. Their complaints told Dawn this wasn’t a regular occurrence; the regulars were all accustomed to Vadim being at the bar, rarely wandering away for anything more than to restock. It made Dawn feel special, she’d stolen the dutiful bartender from his perch behind the bar, accepting their dirty looks with a smile.

Yefim, Vadim’s twin brother, appeared surprised by the evenings antics. She thought at one point that he might be mad as he reminded Vadim that it was late and they had customers who were trying to sleep but by the time Dawn retired to room 2 with Vadim in toe Yefim stood behind the bar with a smile, shaking his head. Perhaps the happiness was born out of his loud mouth brother not shouting behind the bar, perhaps he was simply happy for his brother.

Yes. I like the interaction, and I like acknowledging I saw people's comments.

None of them really end with angst. I have an upublished WIP that would end in angst but IDK if I will finish it. Angstiest overall is probably "The poor thing."

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Uh, they all end on a positive note if not outwardly happy. The most lighthearted overall is my "Pumpkin" ficlet.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not much actually, and I've been theorizing about why while also being grateful for it. The rudest thing someone has said actually didn't bother me that much, and I had (I thought) a solid response to it. Shout out to the commenter who replied to that thread and agreed with me. You're a real one, whoever you are 😅.

So far, I've only published when I was 98% sure I was done with a piece, and I'll probably stick with that because it suits the way I write (out of order, feeling my way around in the dark, general chaos lol). But I have LOTS of unpublished WIPs, including multichapters. I am trying to believe I will finish the one that I am currently trying to make progress on 🫠, but how much I believe it depends on my mood.

Ummm rhythm of the text? I just made that up.

I rarely outline. I actually like the feeling of uncovering a story as I write, but boy does it bite me in the ass sometimes.

Wrote and published = Jonsa. I started a Bellarke (The 100) fic several years ago but never finished or posted it. I only started writing fic seriously about a year ago.

Commander Grady Yensey [Not Your Typical Fairytale]

After the 8:30 Upper Palace briefing, which Piers still managed to be fifteen minutes late to, Grady switched into her dress uniform. The dark military gray and Piers’ new royal green contrasted with the gold accents and medals marking her status. She made sure not a hair was out of place, nor a button left smudged, nor a wrinkle in the pristine fabric. Some people called her a perfectionist; she defined it as not letting a single thing get out of her control, if she could help it. (Knight of Dawn, Chapter 6)

Grady Yensey is the other main character, and while her own struggles don't drive the plot as much, she is still an influential character. Born to a former Commander of the Royal Army Elysia Yensey and Army Lieutenant Bastian Yensey, Grady grew up in the Palace alongside Piers. She had a relatively pampered childhood, until both her parents were killed in a different assassination attempt on Queen Adele when she was 8. Captain (then SpOps Commander) Gavin Johnson of the Royal Guard stepped in to raise her after their death, as he was close with her parents. He and his brother David trained her in a variety of military practices at Grady's request, from martial arts to strategy. At 16, the minimum age for entry, Grady entered the Royal Guard Academy under an alias, in order to prove herself without the influence of her mother's last name. At 18, she ranked out with high honors and was assigned as Gavin's successor. From then on, she lived adjacent to Piers serving both as their bodyguard and best friend. When David became Councilor of ATLZoS, the structural power of the Royal Guard shifted, and at 20, Grady obtained her current position. Grady holds herself to the highest standards possible when it comes to her military status and life in general, and refuses to let herself fumble. Often, she's described as other characters as having "a stick up her ass", including but not limited to Piers, Gavin, and Mateo. When not on duty, however, she tends to binge drink (and get sick often). Piers is the only one who she trusts to know and not think differently of her. Regarding her relationship with Piers, Grady loves them dearly, and would do anything for them (knowing they'd do the same for her). As the story progresses, she finds her love for them changing, and is often unsure with how to handle or react to it, which causes her to distance herself from them. Grady is also quite close with the Olson-Johnson family, as she grew up calling Gretel and Hansel her "siblings", although she doesn't anymore. Grady is also acquaintances with Jules Ledet, as the two entered the Academy at the same time.

And if he’s so wonderful and smart and amazing, why did you hide him? Why did he leave you?” He didn’t, Mal thinks. Not really. “He’s in Arjoy. [...] I found him, when you had the surgery and I stayed at the Poly dorms. You know how I know it was him?” She waits with bated breath. “He turned the light off when I walked in. He didn’t want me to see his face. But he fucked me like he loved me.”

summary: Set in the tiny fictional town of Plain River, the story follows 25-year-old Malachi Azevedo as he tries to regain his memories after an "accident" erases the first 18 years of his life. Stuck caring for his ever-ailing mother, plagued by intrusive thoughts of self-harm, and constantly feeling like an impostor living in the wrong skin, Malachi latches onto The Void - a familiar voice in his head - to cope. He’s convinced The Void was someone important to his former self and tries to find him despite everyone around him denying such a person ever existed. It's this desperate search, along with his fight for independence, which lead Mal down a rabbit hole of love, violence, and hidden truths that force him to finally reconcile with the person he used to be.

This is my baby and my pride and joy, the story that made me want to be a writer 5 centuries ago. It’s been through many iterations and I’ve never actually finished it, but Mal won’t release my mind to do other stuff until I get him to the finish line this time, so whatever he wants he gets.

The places I’ve been, people I’ve met, and stories I’ve heard from them or even experienced myself make up about 80% of this story. The other 20% is just a nice padding of murder and requited love to make everything worse for Mal and more fun for the reader.

In the following weeks I’ll be posting some character profiles and playlists, snippets and other stuff~ If any of this piques your interest and you want to stay updated on my progress and this story, let me know and I’ll make a proper taglist!

what sort if things do you want to talk abt with people/what would make you feel better?

I mean, in an actual utopia? :'D I'd love it if people were excited for what I'm working on. if they'd ask about the fics in progress, kick my butt when I can't get shit done, and push me into doing more. maybe even give feedback already during the process! i know it's too much to ask for, especially when so rarely even finished fics get excitement or feedback, but it's what a Dream World would look like lol.

ideally I'd love it if I had some friends who I could actually brainstorm with and talk about the stuff I'm stuck on or trying to otherwise flesh out. my dog does listen but rarely has any suggestions I can take :'D I know I got spoiled because earlier (like …two years ago lol) I had someone who was always excited to talk about the ideas and brainstorm with me, and who kicked my ass into gear if I was dragging my feet, and I got used to it and now that i'm supposed to just figure everything out alone I have zero motivation to actually do it. the kind of instant feedback I got then was the best motivator ever. now? eh.

and I'd love it if my feeble attempts at trying to talk about wips wasn't just brushed off. if i post on tumblr about something it's most of the time ignored. i've tried to talk to multiple people, and in return i get either the "you'll figure it out eventually" or a complete topic change immediately. no follow-up questions, no excitement, no nothing.

and I'd love it if people didn't go "oh I can help brainstorm that!" and then not even bother to read it. go "I'm gonna comment on that soon!" and never do it. empty promises do nothing but get hopes up and end up in crushing disappointment.

I know people are busy, people have their lives and shit happens but like. it's easy to not make promises you can't (or have no intention to) keep, imo.

and idk in the Olden Days I had multiple people to chat general fandom with, and it in turn sparked fic ideas, and excitement, but now that doesn't really exist either.

just to be clear I'm not expecting anyone to be at my beck and call 24/7 all the time :'D god no :'D but it's so friggin' disheartening when I get a new idea, am all excited about it, and then deflate when I know I don't really have anyone to hype me up about it. so then i won't do it. or then i write like two sentences a day maximum and never get shit done. and every damn day i'm getting closer to just quitting for good. i really really don't wanna abandon my to-write-list and leave shit unfinished but it's starting to look like the only viable option left.

idek. I'm tired. i know it's just a pipe dream and i'll just keep struggling until i fade away from fandom and no one notices lol but yeah.

(it is really nice to just chat about anything with people too, tho, so a shoutout to those who did reach out and who i've been occasionally chatting with :3 it is appreciated!)

Late

Astarion is sitting atop a royal blue duvet, eyeing her suggestively; no indication of any lingering anger from their argument yesterday. “Would you care to feed on me tonight?” she asks him, and he raises an eyebrow. 

“A peace offering. How generous of you. Gladly.”

She sits down beside him, and he does not stop her, and she hugs her knees to her chest. “Have I ever told you about my family?” 

“It hardly seems something that would come up.” 

“I was the disappointment,” she says, glancing at him and giving him a sad smile. “I wonder if they think I’m dead, or if I’m simply maintaining a particularly long tantrum by hiding away in Rivington. I’d messed up and forgot that I was supposed to babysit my brother’s kids. Not… for the first time, and he was pissed. And maybe he was right to be pissed, but I just got so sick of him looking at me as if I were a child in need of a scolding, instead of his sister, who happens to be ten minutes younger than he is. I snapped, and… left. And now I’m a big fucking hero. Imagine that: the stage performer and occasional stripper is now what stands between peace and whatever the mindflayers want with us.”

“Have you ever considered… not being a hero?” Astarion says, as if that’s an easy solution to her problem. 

“My family lives in Baldur’s Gate. Yes, that’s a ways away, but I can’t risk them. My grandfather is a dragon - a silver one, which means by nature he’s always been more curious about the lives of us mere humanoids, and he’s lived in an elven community for centuries now. The village is under his protection, and he’s always said that it’s our duty to take care of our people. Father is no warrior but took that to heart, and when he was chewing me out for failing to meet my obligations, he reminded me of that. So - that’s what I’m doing. I’m taking care of my people, and you’re here helping out, even if you’re a whiny little pain in the ass while you are, so that makes you my people. Which means I’m going to take care of you, and you don’t need to mainline tadpoles in order to obtain protection.”

“Cute, how you think you know what I need. If only you knew,” Astarion says bitterly, but fails to open up further. He then shifts, turning flirtatious and gives her a coy smile. “Lie back; I promise I’ll be gentle.” 

She lies back, offering her neck. “You’re eating me; this is hardly gentle.” 

“Oh, but I’m not. Yet.” His fangs puncture her neck and she winces; her belly stirring with desire and her cheeks growing hot as she realizes the precise meaning of his flirtatious words. 

“I could later if you like,” he says, pausing long enough to lap at the tiny wound he’s made on her neck.

Character ask game Rachel Amber?

General opinion/How much I care about them: BACHEL BAMBER MY ORIGINAL CHARACTER OC. Okay obviously not really but part of me will always think of her that way a bit - Kae and I DID start intensely working on Rachel fic before BTS was even announced. And I still think we did a better job writing her. Anyway obviously yeah I love her I find her so compelling. Being charming and beloved is such a part of who she is, but she's also got this darker side, this bottomless pit in her that always wants more more more and doesn't know how to fully let herself connect with someone that loves her because to do so would require her to compromise something else she wants. It's such a compelling central struggle, I love teasing it out. 8 years on and I'm still not normal about Rachel Amber

A ship I love: AMBERPRICEFIELD PEAK!!!!! I love the yearning and tragedy of Amberprice, the way they're slightly toxic. I think Amberfield is really sweet too. But put all that together and you've got a real meal.

A non-romantic relationship that I love: idk. Always liked writing the Joyce/Rachel relationship in HTLH. And I love Rachel/Dana friendship. Bicons tbh. Of course there's also Rachel/Victoria which (in my head) is a deeply one-sided looney Tunes ass relationship where Victoria is horny and scheming and filled with hate and Rachel just is like. "Victoria? Lmao ew"

The NOTP: I find Rachel/Frank compelling on a character level but I think he's an interesting mistake for her to make not a relationship I want to see progress. Jefferson/Rachel is, of course, the ultimate NOTP. Ditto to Nathan. Yuck.

My biggest headcanon about them: tons just tons but I love longboard Rachel Amber the most

An idea for a fanfiction I would like to write/read about them: (if I have none in my WIPs I'll make one up on the spot!) Lmao. I mean. I still wish we could finish HTLH someday - I dumped all my fave HCs into it, every time I find myself trying to come up with another Amberpricefield fic idea I realize I'm just doing HTLH again. Alas.

Something that makes me think of them: (a song, a character in another fandom, an animal, anything) me and Kae do have extensive Rachel Amber playlists but #1 Rachel Amber anthem of all time for me is "L.A. Looks" by HEALTH. absolute banger
