getting emotional over footage of an amateur scuba diver interacting with a coelacanth. they are hunted by large deepwater predators, and here comes a large creature bearing the brightest lights it's ever seen, making strange noises, but it does not shy away. it hovers, calmly, as the diver reaches out and trails a hand down its back. im strongly against the anthropomorphizing of real life animals but the stupid emotional part of me loudly insists this is because it recognizes us, the alternating movements of its four paired limbs matching the diver's four paired limbs, & it is thinking, "hello, cousins, we missed you these 66 million years, it's so good to see you again. welcome back, welcome home."

i've been making a lot of cute little creachers lately, so i wanted to sculpt something more mature & intricate. i was going to print this one in blue & green, but at the last moment my brain went "print the whole thing in beige and paint it pastel, trust me bro" and i think it was a good call. she is lacking back flippers because i just genuinely forgot about them, and didn't want to print an entire new shell and let this one go to waste. if i make more as commissions or such, i'll add the back pair.

also, i actually got some natural light to take pictures in, and oh. right. photography doesn't need to be a struggle when the sun cooperates.

Understated casualty of the cybertruck thing is that probably nobody else is going to stick their necks out on a mass-market car that's a cool weird shape for a while. I mean I like that they're weird and ugly and look like an asset rip from a ps1 game. All cars have carcinogized into the same basic shapes because we've basically solved fuel efficiency and aerodynamics and crash safety and all that shit, but lets be real, we don't need to wring 100 percent efficiency out of these things, we're puttering through suburban purgatory at 40 miles an hour. We could make cars all kinds of fun shapes if we only believed. Every day could be a parade

Rivulet: My favourite moments?

Rivulet: the first time I saw the sky. It was sunset, and the colours of the sky looked like me! One side was pink and orange and yellow, and one side was blue! It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. And I could see forever! There was so much space! And I could feel the wind, and it was warm, but cold at the same time, I’d never seen anything like it before.

Rivulet: And the first time I swam in open water. I felt like that’s where I was meant to be. The water was cold, but it felt like it was hugging me. The way I could just glide through it, the water rushing over my back, the sunbeams on my face… I felt free. I felt like I belonged somewhere.
