And after this, Nicholas gets Marcus locked up and he takes Mercury in. This is in hopes of undoing whatever brainwashing Marcus has done to him.

At first he’s just an angry teenage boy and maybe when Nicholas treats with respect instead of a tool, he latches onto that and hates Jaune at first because he’s unknowingly scared of being discarded because he thinks Nicholas favors Jaune.

And then he sees how clearly Jaune and Weiss like eachother, so he sees it as just another way Jaune seems to be favored. So it’s less a true love triangle (at first) and more just Mercury trying to ‘steal’ Weiss from Jaune.

He outgrows this, of course, after Penny is built and he meets her. He gets close to her and he finally seems to have someone that understands somewhat of being treated as ‘just a tool/weapon’. At this point, he starts to develop feelings for Penny but rejects it at first because “she’s not human” but not realizing that’s exactly what he hates being seen as.

And to wrap it up, basically, Weiss is uncomfortable by Mercury until he spills to her (and Jaune) that he thinks he likes Penny, expecting them to laugh at him being in love with an Android. And is shocked when the two are genuinely supportive.

Or! Mercury meets Penny and all that but they’re only friends and Mercury begins to genuinely like Weiss. When he meets Emerald at Beacon (who also was not recruited by Cinder and instead grew up as an orphan alongside Sun and Blake), they relate to eachother being in love with people that don’t reciprocate (Sun in Emerald’s case) and develop feelings once they move on and find other points to relate to eachother on. Shared interests and such.

Aaand I’m sorry for such a long answer but I saw this and the ideas just came spilling out when I got this ask.

i do think they have an interesting dynamic! this is my first time actually articulating what i think about kunten so bear with me 😅

in general, i do think they fit the 'bickering parents' archetype. but as in all cases, there are ✨nuances✨. wayv are in a weird spot (which is honestly how i start off 90% of my discussions on wayv but that's another can of worms). kun is the leader, but ten is the most experienced, professionally speaking. ten debuted first, and the members definitely respect his skills as a performer. sometimes ten almost feels a bit untouchable because the others respect him so much.

i think kun and ten kind of hold co-leader positions, but in a weird way. let me explain lol. i think that kun will actually defer to ten for many things, particularly things, particularly professional matters. on the other hand, i don't think ten cares for the responsibilities that come with being a leader (in terms of administrative stuff, or just being there for guidance if the younger ones need him). it feels like their place in wayv is that the group will listen to ten when ten has opinions, but if he doesn't have opinions, then kun will take care of the group. so that was kind of how i see them in the group dynamic but i think it also kind of bleeds into kun and ten's relationship with one another.

there's the ongoing gag that kun is the geriatric loser leader and ten is the cool hip hyung despite them being the same age 😅 but i think it kind of reflects how ten is kind of the free spirit in terms of social obligations whereas kun takes all of this *gestures vaguely* very seriously. kun will always be there as leader regardless of what happens.

with all that ten's doing, i do think that he will outgrow a group soon (maybe he wouldn't outgrow it so fast if he was promoted the actual kpop way, but that's a whole other discussion). but something makes me think that as independent as he is, it's also to his benefit to have a leader to come back to, even if he doesn't need kun's guidance like the other members will. he wouldn't be able to do all his independent promotions if he had to take care of the group.

in terms of what kun sees in ten, i think kun…appreciates all of ten? he sees ten not just as the great performer that is but also that gremlin man and he appreciates that that is ten as he is, even if he's just going to give kun shit all day.

i feel like ten is destined for great things and kun is the one who stays home (though realistically speaking, kun is also pursuing his own dreams, just that he'll continue to be wayv's leader as long as they need him). ten is the cool hip exciting one and kun is the boring reliable one, but maybe sometimes ten needs the boring reliable guy to ground him sometimes when things get tiring, and maybe kun is happy being that person for someone who seems so independent.

It is far not the first time I've heard explanation that people are just jealous, really :') 👍 Like... It might be my lore, because they were really mad at the fact that I write essays on multiple occasions? Like, they try to paint it as me "having no life" or "being mad", but. dude. dude you are projecting. If the only way you could write essay on a topic you care about is abandoning all your chores and needs and/or getting mad at someone, then I have bad news for your intellect? :/ This is a very common attitude from people that cannot say anything interesting on their own and just post the same two-sentence brainlet takes about how much male characters/fans suck or how their [LGBT headcanon] is the only true interpretation and everyone who disagrees can't analyse media. 🤔 So how can they feel better about not having as many interesting headcanons or good theories? They've picked the low-effort way - to attempt destroying the value of "lore essays" by painting them as a bad thing! I will be real tho - they've gotten like, two asks about their headcanons in a lifetime (both about the same character, ironically) and shown that they CAN post something good when they want to, so eventually it is the matter of choosing low-effort way. Destroying is easier than creating!

hello there, I just wanted to chime in a little in the jyn/bix discussion because. some of the anons seemed to talk about jyn and cassian as if they actually had a relationship on screen and. idk. everybody seemed to get the tragedy of the ending of their lives, or at least that's what it looked like, seeing all that content on storytelling and "they've been dead since the beginning" oresteia or else. so... why not see it through that lens? it's hardly a ship of "what they've been through" (even if they went through a lot in the film, but not really as a couple, that's what I mean), it's more like that type of ship that kills you with the possibilities. like. they could've had something, based on some scenes, because it looked like they had something going on but they just met. we didn't get to see anything develop because they died. that's most of the appeal of the ship, the same appeal of every prequel and especially of andor: the possibilities, the tragedy, that. the way they hugged at the end, the way they both gave it all to the rebellion and found comfort in not having to do it alone. like. most of the discussions feel over the point. we will never know what kind of relationship they would've had (toxic or not or some other shit I read), the point is that they're dead and we'll never get to see it. one is free to fantasize a they want but then it's just fantasy so, let's all calm down. how do people create ship wars when there's basically nothing to discuss about if not past and motifs? especially in a film + series that is so clearly not about love?

Because I myself have been immensely entertained by the thought of his height peaking relatively early and after that not much else happening (which he is probably a little disappointed about. I don’t think there's any official material of mob past his 3rd year of middle school, so nothing that would suggest his height. I think a lot of people, myself included, hc mob as taller and stacked because its symbolic of him outgrowing reigen as he becomes his own person, kinda reflective of his emotional development. plus its just funny to imagine reigen being the shortest person at spirits & such with his loud personality. I guess if you wanted to get technical, mob's appearance has been shown to be affected by his emotional state (mob on a high horse stuff that happens before the divine tree arc kicks off) which could /technically/ lead to him getting pretty big as he feels more confident, but ive honestly never thought about it that deeply.

I mean why is that something somebody is getting worked up about? Is the fandom that bad? Idk really. It could be a whole bunch of things.

Some people just deeply despise the fandom for whatever reason and (because they're dealing with a group like BTS), constantly need an outlet for that emotion.

2. Some people never really outgrow their Regina George high school days and think being contrarian is how you signal you're cool, different, and more intelligent.

3. Some people are inexperienced with fandom, period. And so are easily irritated by fandom dynamics and that bleeds into (1) and (2).

For example, I was on Twitter the day Jungkook deleted all his Instagram pics and started from scratch. It was absolutely hilarious. People were panicking, typing in all caps about how traumatizing this event was. I recall seeing people posting about how they were having heart attacks, people were asking for HYBE's email address, I think someone said she was going to leave her daughter at school (as in not pick her up) until she figured out what the fuck was going on. It was glorious chaos. And of course, a good amount of it was hyperbole, the sort typical in fandom spaces. Then a multi moot of mine retweeted about someone having a heart attack, to which someone who keeps up with BTS said something along the lines of 'ARMYs are mentally ill and losing their shit over Jungkook deleting his Instagram'. I saw that tweet a couple hours after she'd posted it and of course most people had just ignored it lol. But that's exactly the sort of response you can expect from people on the outside looking in.

I noticed a similar thing happened when ARMYs reacted to Yoongi posting this a couple days ago:

Nothing actually problematic was happening in response to Jungkook deleting his Instagram pics, ARMYs weren't actually having heart attacks (would be hard to do that and tweet at the same time), just as ARMYs aren't actually filing lawsuits against Min Yoongi, nor actually writing patents for Jimin holding an extension cord to mention another example, but the fandom norms were something that person didn't fully understand nor care to view charitably since they despise the fandom to begin with. I'd say it all just boils down to plain old human nature.

And honestly, I don't blame some people for hating the fandom. ARMYs are some of the most insufferable people on the planet. Many ARMYs are a little stupid and easy to manipulate. Add in the fact that there's just so many of us that even less of a fraction of a percent is enough to overwhelm anyone. It's easy to hate a fandom like ARMY, and so if you see people who indulge, in my experience it's best to just note it and let them be. Lol.
