Hii!! Since requests are open could you write like headcanons of the Mikaelsons (separate) with a rly sweet reader or even like soulmate!reader haha I love those tropes and ur fics are amazing 🤍
AHHH thank you!!!! <3 <3 I super appreciate the compliment :):) Thank you for saying ‘separate’, lol. That really helps for understanding!
Since it wasn’t specified, I’m going to make the reader human :)
— — — —
Soulmate HCs (Finn/Elijah/Klaus/ Kol/Rebekah)
Finn Mikaelson
Tumblr media
Finn smiles every time he sees you.
He wonders how you are so kind to him, given that he is a vampire. He kills innocent people, yet you still care for him.
He tries to get you gifts whenever he travels somewhere to show his appreciation to your kindness.
He hasn’t realized till now how much he really needed you in his life.
Finn has heard ofSoulmates, but never did he think he’d have one. Especially a human.
He tries his best to protect you and make you comfortable wherever you’re at.
Elijah Mikaelson
Tumblr media
Elijah didn’t trust you at first. And he certainly didn’t believe the whole soulmate thing.
Because of his beliefs, he tried to keep you away from him. Always avoided you.
He soon started to believe when his own mother told him it was real.
He thought it better to get to know you. Quickly, he was fascinated by you. He couldn’t stay away from you for more than a day.
He wanted to hear your laugh. To see your smile.
He will protect you with his life.
Klaus Mikaelson
Tumblr media
Klaus all but laughed when he heard you were his soulmate.
He didn’t believe in soulmates. Especially for a one thousand year old vampire. He was a vampire, how could he have a soulmate?
As time passed, he found out it was real. Even for him.
He had so many feelings about it. Could he really settle down for once in his long and miserable life? Have someone by his side at all times to support him and love him?
But then the bad thoughts come rolling in. Could he trust you? Would you betray him? How can he trust you just like that?
To his surprise, you have nothing more to give him but kindness. You care about him deeply. And as much as he’d like to not believe it, he starts to crave more of you. Crave your attention and your warmth.
Kol Mikaelson
Tumblr media
Kol knew soulmates existed, since he used to be a witch himself. But he never knew old vampires like himself, or just normal vampires, would have a soulmate. They’re dead, after all. How can they have a soulmate when dead?
Seeing you be his soulmate, he just couldn’t believe it. He was too shocked to even be in the same room as you.
But as time passed, he made sure to look after you. Watching you to make sure you had no bad intentions to his family.
The weird thing about you to him was how kind you were. He was a monster, and you were an angel. Two opposites don’t belong together.
But somehow, you accepted who he was. He felt his cold heart warm up when he was around you. He craved your warmth and your smile.
He made an oath to protect you with his life.
Rebekah
Tumblr media
Being the only daughter in the family, she couldn’t help herself but to be attached to people. When she met you, she just knew you both had a connection.
She was amazed at how naive you could be around monsters like them, but still loved the way you treated them.
She cared for you deeply and wanted to protect you. Although she may be a brat sometimes, she tries her best to repay the kindness you give to her.
She is very clingy to you, but you don’t mind. You know how she is treated by her brothers, and you make sure to take good care of her. And she appreciates that greatly. Still wonders why you do it, but appreciates it nonetheless.

You know after reading and reading and reading peoples theories and the meta from before the spn finale aired and the meta writers reactions to the finale I think I have a theory of my own. We don't have any answers tho, so this is pure speculation. If you wanna add something to support or discredit any of this that's cool but there's too many things floating around. Know I dont have proof for this conclusion at all. A lot of what I say is just guesses based on previous facts.
This all came together in my head when I realized how much this finale REEKS of the original producers and who the show was originally for. It REEKS of Robert Singer. Like if the execs started saying they didn't want it, Robert Singer was the one pushing that the story was about the brothers. That kinda thing.
Then, I was thinking of the problems in this episode and it struck me these are all of Supernatural biggest issues and to be honest all of it feels completely deliberate.
Take the sexism for example, Supernatural in it's later seasons largely out grew this, we have Jody, Rowena, Donna, Charlie, Mary, Claire (and even a wayward sisters pilot with MORE women/girls) all making regular appearances. They're mainly good characters and mostly aren't there to hurt our boys. Rowena, of course, is the one outlier being very about herself but it's clear she still cares for them, I mean its part of her development. But they're all real, with character flaws just like everyone else. (And we have Death too and she was POC 😭 THANK GOD)
Now look at the earlier half of Spn, we have Ellen and Jo, who's appearances were far in between. There's Bela in season 3, recurring for quite a bit (5 eps), but she is a character that is only there for herself, definitely not found family (unlike Ellen & Jo), and she's got more episodes in season 3 than Ellen and Jo in season 2 who aren't seen again til season 5. The "fans" send in hate mail after hate mail to try to get these characters off, and eventually they are. Then there's Ruby who's character stayed for a whole two seasons and was a largely recurring character. Why does she get to say so long? She's a plot device. She's supposed to be there to betray Sam. She has to stay (plus Jared obviously likes her). But she's not just a character the writers like writing about. Same with Lilith. Obviously not as recurring but still a plot device. Did they get hate mail tho? You can bet on it. Why? because tHeY'rE gOnNa PuSh ThE bOyS (Dean and Sam) aPaRt ThE sHoW iS aBoUt ThE bOyS oNlY. Without even thinking about the hate mail, just notice how large the difference is from how women are seen in the earlier seasons to the later seasons. Misha got tons of hate mail too for being a character that could split up the boys (probably only being allowed to say because he a man, thanks sexist producers and execs).
Only after Castiel was killed off and then Castiel fans successfully (thank you guys) got him back on the show did the hate mail largely simmer, which means female character's were allowed to stay! Which has lead us to a show with a good amount of female characters. But can you imagine having to kill characters off time and time again because people keep complaining that the show is "only about the boys." Fun times really.
So now we get to this final and we see sexism. But it wasn't just the plain old regular sexism you find in the earlier days of spn. Because now, there ARE women to talk about, talk to. But this episode was DESOLATE women wise, unless they were used for plot (which is also sexist!). Small scenes, they're barely there. Women gets her tongue cut out. Random women from s1 gets killed. Sam doesn't SPEAK of Eileen. Nothing. No mention of any female characters from the boys mouths unless they were from/in this episode itself. That's WIERD. I know we've all said it. But that goes beyond forgetting about characters. I mean its SAM'S GIRLFRIEND for Christ's sake. There is NO REASON they couldn't have said Eileen's name. Notice how Sam's wife is just... faceless. This is literally an age old sexist trope. Like... one of the things about bringing Mary back to life for s12+ is that it takes this trope... of basically a generic mother, and gives her life and feelings, whether you like them or not, they're real feelings. They said Mary isn't just a mom she's a person. Mary's existence in the later half of spn is to fix this kind of female tropes that fall upon her character, to not let these her stay a 2 dimensional character. They said we should know she's more than just the mom who tried to save her kid. Do that is the exact opposite of Sam getting a nameless, faceless wife. The sexism of the old spn wasn't just brought back, it was completely amplified. It wasn't just accidental or some exec "fixing" the story it was DELIBRATE. Whoever wrote that, didn't do ALL OF THAT by accident. Because an exec or a producer who doesn't see the flaws in old supernatural isn't going to write it that deliberately.
Let's bring it back to s10 when Charlie was killed (singer was mainly to blame). Dead in the bathtub, age old classic of burying ur gays. If you were here you know people never let Supernatural live that down. THEY KNOW what bury ur gays means. Hell, Robbie Thompson left because of Charlie's death and you think the writers don't know what it means? I mean both Bobo Berens (especially) and Steve Yockey's careers are centered around LGBT+ storytelling and you think they don't know? They know. They know.
And Dean wasn't just apart of the bury your gays trope, it is so far BEYOND that. Dean being killed on a rusty nail/screw, the tongues ripped out, things that seemed to be meant for other people. Jensen's acting in the last two episodes was giving us "DEAN RECIPROCATES" but no one ever actually saying it. I think it's clear that Dean was killed for being Bi. They didn't address it for a reason, they just silenced him. His narrative was supposed to be about letting him be HIM for the first time, to say what his feelings are instead of having them miscommunicated, and instead of doing that, they just silenced him. And the more we look at this scene the more horrific it gets. The more it's a complete slap in the face and it's supposed to be. Some guy who knows nothing about the LGBT can't write a scene this horrific.
Some guy who knows nothing about Dean couldn't write a scene that deconstructs all of Dean's character development and gives Dean his worst nightmare. I MEAN DEAN WANTED TO LIVE HIS LIFE! THEY DIDNT HIDE THAT JOB APPLICATION (or whatever job related thing that was) IN THERE FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST SITUATION. Dean isn't Barney from HIMYM. If you watched HIMYM then you'll know Barney went from being a stereotypical ladies man and treating women terribly to being in love with a women and treating her right and working hard for it. The last episode of HIMYM (why its so bad) Barney's character development is thrown out and he's back to being a stereotypical ladies man. You don't need to know Barney's character very much to do that.
To kill Dean during a hunt his father never finished, to not have anyone at his funeral, to have Dean die young like his life didn't matter. Those are Dean's worst fears and you'd only truly know that if you watched the gin episode in s3, where they are basically laid out for you. You HAVE to know Dean's character to tear him apart like this.
This episode took all the core elements of the show and did a complete 180° the name of the episode itself is "Carry on" and Dean and Sam very much did not carry on. Sam grieving his entire life so that he good get to heaven and see Dean again. Dean being ready to live his life, despite the enormous pitfalls and learning to love himself only to be killed. "Family don't end with blood." Um.... it did in that episode either literally with Dean's death or you know BECAUSE NONE OF THEIR FOUND FAMILY WAS THERE. Not Jack, Not Cas, Not Eileen, Not Donna, Not Charlie, Not Jody, Not Claire... on and on we go. No one was there, nobody was even mentioned. Dean's funeral, no one even called that we know of. It was just Sam and Dean. Sam and Dean. And Bobby. Don't forget Bobby. But yeah Sam and Dean.
That's what the show is about right, the brothers.
Except it's not anymore. It hasn't been for years.
Cas not being there was deafening but it brought us to a major point. Becky. Becky's telling us about the terrible ending.
And many of us are wondering why would they literally tell us this is the worst ending and then... make it the ending.
Now before we move on, it very apparent many of you think Dabb doesn't ship Deancas. And Dabb doesn't care about the characters.
Say what you will about any plot holes in his writing, the point he is VERY GOOD at writing the characters, and giving us good ones.
Why do we know Dabb ships Deancas? (ill say when its cowrote, other wise its not) cowrote ep 8.02 - purgatory "I prayed to you, Cas, every night" "Cas, Buddy, I need you." "I have a price on my head, and I've been trying to stay one step ahead of them, to – to keep them away from you." 8.08 Hunteri Heroici - Cas helps them hunt! 😊❤ Dean & Cas have a serious convo about why Cas doesn't want to see/go to heaven. 8.22 Dean's mad at Cas. Sam's explanation of why Dean should be easy on Cas: "It's Cas." Dean then points out how he'd knife anybody else if they did what Cas did. 9.10 - Cas comforts Dean when Dean can't take seeing Sam (Gadreel) being tortured anymore. Also tons of Cas. 9.20 (bloodlines) - Canonical couple parallel "I was there, where were you" 9.22 The angels make Cas choose between them and killing Dean and he "gave up an entire army for one guy" 10.09 Claire's reintroduction. Cas heavy ep. DeanCas date. 10.22 THE PRISONER - u know the ep where Dean beats the shit out of Cas but loves him enough to not kill him.
We COULD keep going but I think I've made my point. If Robert Singer is the guy that is like "the show is about Sam and Dean only" Andrew Dabb is the DeanCas shipper. And you could even say a Cas stan.
Notice! How in s13 for SEVEN episodes we have a story that revolves around Dean's grief about losing Cas. Notice! How often the stories in all these seasons have a focus on their relationship. THAT is Andrew Dabb. If it weren't for him doing that, we wouldn't be able to easily say after Dean's lack of a response to Cas' confession, that Dean reciprocates.
To me, when I was (binge) watching s12 for the first time, I thought damn this is really got a lot of DeanCas. So I went to look at who was in charge, who was writing. I saw Andrew Dabb, associated him with Deancas episodes, saw all the new writers, Bobo, and then I saw that Yockey is known for same sex stories and it clicked. Dabb assembled a team to give us Destiel. THAT WAS IN SEASON 12!!!!!!!!
The amount of people saying he's homophobic flabbergast me. Open your eyes! That isn't what's going on.
Imagine making a show and trying to right all the wrongs of Supernatural. Imagine trying to write the greatest love story ever told and you have the entire season planned out for it to end off beautifully, it may possibly be your greatest achievement when it's done and then boom. someone comes in and tells you you aren't allowed to make Dean bi or make destiel endgame, after he was most probably already given the go ahead.
Sure. You could imply he's bi or into cas still in a way. Still make nice-ish ending. just give everyone what the kinda want.
Or you could scrap the last season, nothing close to a canonical bisexual Dean Winchester or Deancas endgame in site. People can be done with it be happy with the show, continue to live their lives in ignorance as to how close they were to Canon destiel.
OR you can lead everyone to the very closest you can get them to what you were aiming for and then show everyone the ugly truth and reality. Light it all on fire. Burn the show to the ground in your wake. Try your darnedest to making these people's (the people saying no) pockets suffer. Show us, the audience, what happened. Show us what this show really is.
I've seen people talk about the ending being changed during covid but I dont think that happened. I think what happened was Dabb already had this season planned out before it even started. Obviously the details were wobbly but it was all lead up to this ending. Destiel endgame, Canon Bisexual Dean, whatever it was. They were ready to write the greatest love story ever told and then someone shut it down.
Imagine the pain that must have caused them to be told no when they already said yes. They must have been so excited to give this to us.
I think someone (some producers) told him what this show is "really" about. The brothers. Can you imagine, after being told no, some kinda bullshit like this is said to you: "Why aren't you bringing it back to the brothers, Andrew? that's what the shows about. What with all this homosexual stuff, you know the audience won't like that. Not really." Imagine the original producers pushing this kind of view on you. "You know when we started it was Sam and Dean. It should end with Sam and Dean." That kinda sounds like someone huh? huh.
So why give us a nice acceptable finale, when you can take every problem Supernatural's had either up front or behind the scenes and create a finale so incredibly bad that people don't want to watch it anymore.
Someone made a good point about how Sam was originally supposed to be the main focus (this isn't to put any hate on Sam or Jared). Dean and Sam are the main characters but Sam was supposed to be the focus and for Dean to have become the focus, must have annoyed the producers because... well here we are. They wouldn't listen to Jensen. The producers liked this ending. Jensen's opinion didn't matter to them.
In some ways, if this is really what happened, it can be seen as childish from Dabb. To hurt all of us like that. Yes, he's hurting the producers, the execs, the cw. But to hurt us? Yeah it stings.
But in other ways, if this is really what happened, this is Dabb showing us the muck and gunk under the shiny surface. The hate for Misha. The hidden hate for Jensen. The underlying sexism. The underlying homophobia. The people REALLY in charge don't care about us, they just want our money. He needed to open our eyes and free us, at least free the people that he was writing for. The people he sees that care about this show.
This is the ending the powers that be wanted and its a big fuck you for a reason. I dont think this is Dabb spitting in our faces for loving this show, I think this is him trying to get revenge for us.
But from here, you can see it how u want it. If this is really what happened, I'm not in charge of your emotions, if you wanna be mad be mad if you wanna be grateful be grateful. And you don't have to believe me either I said this is speculation.
Also, as for all of the rumors like there being shots to the confession scene that we didn't see, which Jensen himself implied, I think that might have been a last ditch effort to canonized DeanCas but obviously it was cut. Like the name change was pretty clear. As for Misha possibly having shot some stuff for 20 I dont know what to tell you. If it's true I dont know where the blame would lie.
I do think however, that if all this was the case, the writers were prepared to become villians here. I mean they told us the writers were villians with Chuck right? So. Who knows what went down so they could give us such a vile ending. It could've been the producers or the writers, who truly knows. I do think tho that people we "trust" did some pretty shitty things to push the narrative in certain directions so now one would see this as the actual ending that was coming.
So again do with my SPECULATION what you will. This was in no way meant to put Dabb on a pedestal or anything. Just meant to give a bit of perspective.
(Also Jensen didn't unfollow Dabb recently he was already unfollowed for years)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Tumblr media
The other famous novel by Victor Hugo. Written in 1831, Notre-Dame de Paris, known in English as The Hunchback of Notre Dame, is a rich, meandering tale that addresses messy relationships, fate, and the future of architecture in 1482. The English title is a misnomer, since the protagonist of the story is Esmeralda, the original title being a metaphor on the cathedral who serves as the central location of the novel, and Esmeralda herself (though one could argue the cathedral is itself a character). Victor Hugo strongly protested against the English title, as it turns the focus from the cathedral onto the characters.
The hunchback is Quasimodo, the deaf, one-eyed, hunchbacked, monstrously ugly bell-ringer of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Abandoned outside the church at the age of four, he was taken in out of kindness by the Archdeacon of Josas, Claude Frollo, who raised him in the church and introduced him to the bells. When the hitherto chaste Frollo sees the  romani girl Esmeralda dancing in the street one day, he finds himself stricken with lust, and doesn't know how to deal with it. So, sure as Love Makes You Evil, he grabs Quasimodo (for muscle) and tries to kidnap her. The attempt is foiled by Phoebus, Captain of the Archers. It is spectacularly not foiled by lovable slacker-poet Pierre Gringoire, who gets knocked out trying to save the girl.Later that night, however, Esmeralda temporarily marries the poet, to save his life from her friends at the Court of Miracles. That doesn't mean she's going to let her new "husband" touch her, mind you, or that she's going to give up her dreams of marrying Phoebus. Phoebus likes the look of her, himself, and although he's already engaged to his teenage cousin Fleur-de-Lys, he's not opposed to a bit on the side. Esmeralda's small kindness to Quasimodo when he is in the stocks for the kidnapping attempt (Frollo having let him take the fall) makes her an angel in Quasimodo's mind, and he is henceforth devoted to her. This eventually, and painfully, puts him in conflict with Frollo, whose combination of lust and loathing for Esmeralda makes him increasingly unstable. Amidst the drama and tragedy resulting from everybody's fatal obsessions, Hugo includes leisurely chapters on the architecture of Paris and the expected impact of the newly-developed printing press.
Frankenstein
Tumblr media
Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, usually abbreviated to Frankstein is a novel by Mary Shelley. It was originally published in 1818. It had a 1823 reprint without Shelley's involvement and a third edition in 1831, this time with significant edits from the author. Frankenstein is considered an Ur-Example of Science Fiction and inarguably has vast historical significance.
The novel tells of Dr. Victor Frankenstein who unlocks the secrets to Creating Life. He uses this knowledge to create an artificial man, larger and stronger than most mortals, by means which he chooses not to describe. While he is initially triumphant with his success, a few moments of observing the flailing and moaning patchwork being leaves Victor disgusted by and fearful of his creation. Realizing the ramifications of his success, he is horrified. He abandons the Creature and flees to his family's estate. In his absence, the Creature is forced to come to grips with suddenly finding itself alive and alone without explanation or guidance. He learns about humanity by watching a family cottage from afar, but is again driven off when he attempts to offer his friendship- one of many bad run-ins with humanity which leave the monster bitter and cynical. Eventually, the Creature comes to resent his creator, whom he views as his father, for abandoning the Creature to a life of torment, and decides to come home to seek vengeance against Frankenstein...
The subtitle, The Modern Prometheus, compares Victor Frankenstein to the Greek titan Prometheus, who brought the secret of fire from Mount Olympus to mortal men, reflecting on Frankenstein's spiritual would-be theft of the secret to creating life — but like Prometheus, Frankenstein also came to regret his transgression.note Many would say that Frankenstein was the ultimate warning of Science Is Bad, though similar stories were common throughout the industrial revolution and it is not even clear whether the act of creating the Monster was bad in itself, if the world wasn't ready for it, or Frankenstein was just a horrible and abusive parent.
One Hundred Years of Solitude
Tumblr media
One Hundred Years of Solitude is a 1967 novel that won Gabriel García Márquez the Nobel Prize for Literature. It's become a staple of Spanish-speaking high school curricula everywhere.  Arguably one of the most important pieces of literature written in the 20th century, or to put in context, almost as important as Don Quixote to Spanish speaking literature. Famous, among other things, for using every conceivable trope one could ever hope to fit in 28.8 oz of paper.
The book follows the story of the Buendía family and the town they create, Macondo, from its foundation to its end. Of course, it is told in a non-linear fashion with every generation having the same few names, as well as the same basic attributes (except for a pair of twins whose names are thought to have been accidentally switched at some point). Alongside the story of the Buendía family, there are an abundance of vignettes recounting both the everyday and the supernatural occurrences that shape the lives of the inhabitants of Macondo. The themes range widely, incorporating legendary figures (such as the Wandering Jew), historical events (Sir Francis Drake’s bombing of Rioacha, the Massacre of the Banana growers), and short stories about the love of two minor characters who never get to interfere with the main action. Believe it or not the story takes place in a time span of a hundred years.
Netflix has announced that it will be adapting the story into a television series.
The Arabian Nights
Tumblr media
The Arabian Nights, correctly known as The Tales of One Thousand and One Nights (Farsi Hezār-o yek šab, Arabic Kitāb 'alf layla wa-layla), is a massive collection of Fairy Tales drawn from sources as far apart as the Middle East, North Africa, India, and, to an extent, even China and Greece. It has for centuries shaped the European view of the [relative to Europe] "(Near) East" or "Orient", even though only some of the stories are widely known. In fact, early Arabic-language versions only contain about 300 nights. The 701 others were added later; most of the additions were by Arab writers, but European translators added some other folktales they'd collected in their editions. Some of these additions were based on other Arabian sources, but others, including Aladdin and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, were stolen by Antoine Galland (the French translator) from Syrian Maronite writer Hanna Diyab, who recounted those tales to Galland and based them on various aspects of his own life. Diyab's autobiography was found in 1993 and greatly expanded our understanding of these stories.
The Framing  Device for the story cycle is the tale of King Shahryar and Shahrazad. The King's first wife had cheated on him, so he had her executed. Then, feeling that no woman could be trusted, he hit upon a plan only a powerful and insane tyrant could pull off: He'd marry a woman, spend the night with her, and then, in the morning, send her off to the royal Wazir (chancellor) to be executed. No woman would ever betray him again! After a great many wives were executed in this manner (Richard Burton's translation says the King did this for three years, which would be about 1,100 wives), the Wazir was running out of marriage prospects to present to the King. Then the Wazir's daughter, Shahrazad, came to him with a plan. Since her plan involved marrying the King, the Wazir objected in the strongest manner possible, but nothing would deter the girl, and finally he brought her to the King.
Come the wedding night, once he started putting the moves on her, she feigned becoming upset, and pleaded to see her younger sister one last time. The King acquiesced, and allowed Shahrazad's sister Dunyazad to stay in the room with them until dawn. Even while they consummated the marriage. Awkward. After that and the three of them went to sleep, the sisters woke up at midnight. Just as planned, Dunyazad asked Shahrazad to tell her a story, but by the morning she was not finished, and ended the story on a Cliffhanger. The awoken King was so hooked on the story that he postponed the execution for one night, in order to hear the rest. But after Scheherazade ended that story, it was still the middle of the night, and she started up another story, again ending on a cliffhanger in the morning. The nightly routine continued. Some of the stories were simple, some complex and multi-layered; sometimes a character in one story would begin to tell a second story, and sometimes the story was never actually ended because Scheherazade had gone on two or three layers and never returned to wrap up. Or sometimes she claimed she didn't know the ending, but had another tale that was even more intriguing than the unfinished one. But all of the stories were so compelling that the King could never bear to order her execution without hearing the ending. So Shahrazad kept up the stories for three years — in the meantime bearing Shahryar three sons — and finally, after 1,001 nights, she said that she had told all of her tales and was ready to die. But the King had fallen in love with her, and had been calmed by her entrancing stories. He declared that no woman in the kingdom was as wise as Shahrazad, and he made her his queen for keeps this time, and they lived Happily Ever After.
Unlike many legends which deal primarily with the deeds of the nobility (who after all were the ones who could afford to have a bard as a permanent resident at their palaces), Arabian Nights has the fascinating twist that it covers people from myriads of occupations in a highly-complex society.
The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana
Tumblr media
A novel by Umberto Eco.
Yambo Bodoni has a problem. After suffering a stroke, he lost his episodic memory. Now he can't remember his name, family, or any aspects of his life. Thanks to a lifetime of work as an antiquarian book dealer in Milan, however, he can recall anything he's ever read. In order to rediscover his lost past, Yambo heads to his childhood hometown of Solara. As he pores through old newspapers, comics, and magazines, Yambo - and the reader - get glimpses into the often tragic and bittersweet reality of a boy coming of age in Italy during World War II.

i’ve not seen enough appreciation of hong ye so imma make some
i tried not to ramble but... this is very rambly lol... i just have a lot of hong ye feelings wahhh
i’ve loved hong ye’s character from the first ep tbh, and even though she betrayed tang yi & colluded with brother de to send someone after shao fei, i felt like it made total sense? she wanted to protect tang yi, even if her logic of ‘i have to protect him by going against him’ was highly flawed lol (like as someone who has older siblings, i know that i might also be pushed to do extreme things to protect them... thankfully i’m not a member of a gang so the only stressful situations in our family are christmases and birthdays lol)
i love that she’s very direct about the fact she loves dao yi, despite the age gap and the fact he’s been a kinda mentor/protective figure her whole life (i’m not usually the biggest fan of age gap relationships in shows cos they nearly always end up either making it a big ‘daddy/mummy’ issues thing, or they just make the older guy/woman a creep, but i actually found this story really endearing and believable, mainly because of the way dao yi has refused her for so long (denying his own feelings) in order to not become a burden to her... (like in episode 14 where he says basically how she deserves to be with someone else)... idk i just really liked that he put her best interest/her future first... (it also kinda reminded me of that scene in shrek 2 where the fairy godmother tells shrek that ‘if you love her, you’ll let her go’ which is like a classic trope which i can’t help but love because the hero always ends up going against that & being like ‘you know what, i love them so much and it’s precisely that reason why i wont let them go!’)
the entire scene in the car park with dao yi was so good though! hong ye being confused and annoyed that after he rejected her, dao yi is now refusing to let her move on... and then her crying and breaking down as he holds her (the actress doesn’t get enough credit, she is seriously great!), and then the declaration and kiss were so sweet, followed by her smile as they embrace like SERIOUSLY this is how you write a good and well developed straight pairing!!)
i also loved the glimpse of young!hong ye where she stands up for herself pretty well... i also really like that we see how different she is from tang yi! she has a lot more blind faith & trust in others, whereas tang yi is very wary (i would go into detail about this but i feel like this post is already gonna be insanely long lol)... she reminds me of shao fei in a lot of ways, especially in the way she isnt great at hiding her emotions & her impulsiveness... but i also like that they’re still quite different: once she sinks her teeth into something (metaphorically speaking), she wont hold up unless she truly has to, whereas i feel shao fei sometimes lets his emotions get the better of him, but is quick to reign it in and control them when he has to... (it also fits with my head canon of hong ye being a taurean, stubborn, likes safety and comfort, loyal to a fault (& if ur thinking ‘wait, but she betrayed tang yi how is she loyal?!’ it’s exactly that intense loyalty that makes her think she has to betray him, because she feels she has no other way to protect him (because tang yi is a scorpio and there is NO telling scorpios anything lol... trust me, i’ve had lots of experience with that)
probably my favourite thing about hong ye is her fiery personality... she wasn’t written as a typical ‘generic hollywood badass woman’, cos really nothing is more annoying than female characters (primarily written by men, if i’m being honest) who’s only characteristics are that she’s ‘not like other girls cos she fights and wears leather’ or some bs like that lol... i really like that despite her fire and willingness to fight, she’s still really sensitive! the writers also havent been afraid to give her flaws & foibles (like her being a real stubborn spoilt madam (youngest sibling privilege) or her constantly holding grudges and wanting to get back at people who wronged her (such as everything with the dao yi situ)  & there’s probably more but again, don’t want this post to be 10 pages long lol)
in conclusion: hong ye is one of my fav characters and i love her lol (if that wasn’t obvious)! and i am fully aware it is probably because i relate to her the most out of all of them (i am basically her, except like not as pretty cos the actress is stunning lol!)

hello pals . here thoust be with an about ? haha kisses love and respekt these hoes !
Tumblr media
tw: familial death, murder
STATS: full name: sebastian eli jung nickname(s): bas, bash, CALL HIM BA AND YOU DIE age: 23. date of birth: april 4th 1997 hometown: chicago, illinois  gender: cis male. religion: athiest. sexuality: bisexual. hair colour: blonde. here’s visuals of what he looks like currently, he’s always decked in accessories ! head to toe , he loves looking handsome n expensive, it’s like a personality trait to be that sexy yk?  .. xx (x) eye colour: brown. height: 5'10, i bumped up jimins height myob tattoos: (x) (left hand, the rose & cross only) , (x) (back of his neck), (x) on his inner left forearm,  piercings: two ear piercings in each, right cartilage piercing, (1) nipple piercing, had his tongue pierced when he was like 13 but that hole closed up now.
(i copied this family background from ellie bc she summed it up OFKMGDHG)
immediate family: richard & elizabeth jung (parents), silvia jung (twin brother, younger), and bambi & thumper (pure golden bred golden retrievers, bambi’s owner)
extended family: jeremy jung (uncle, father’s twin, deceased), jeremy’s husband (uncle)
started out as world renowned physicians, but would later own the best hospitals around the world
became a household name because of their big role/impact in the medical world and later the business world
twins run in the family and theres been a set of jung twins in every generation so far (aka richard & jeremy, silvia & sebastian)
mom was the hardass, dad was the softy
richard and elizabeth got divorced when the twins were 19 years old, the fortune/businesses was split between the two
the dad basically disappeared after the divorce happened, the mom is a witch
the twins were always closer to their dad and uncle
in addition to their family life
sebastian does not get along w his mother at all, she sees him as scum and he sees her as disgrace and a money hungry person, he saw to that when she murdered his uncle before him. they hate each other but he’d never express tht hate in front of silvia, although when silvia isn’t around his mom hurls horrible insults at him and he fights back
will protect silvia till the end of the world he would jump fences for his sister, the only girl that he truly loves even if she hates him currently
loves his dog a lot, bambi is his baby.. his emotional support animal
misses his dad terribly and wishes he’d reach out, he’s tried a few times, hired the best PI and couldn’t find it. his dad doesn’t want to be found or does he?
which leads to how sebastian is so afraid to be himself and love because mom, a bitch, dad? god knows why he bailed when he needed him the most.
whomst is sebastian , condensed  !
sebastian is a boy who has seen his uncle die in front of him, so tht fucked him up a lot. like he can be difficult but that’s because he watched someone die and the loving boy he was once was no more... and then to lose his dad right after was a pretty fucked up burden for him to carry into his teen years, he tried not to let it show for silvia’s sake but that kind went down the drain in their 20′s
he rlly only ever looked out for silvia when he was growing up, he didn’t really care about anyone else and that was a product of his mothers neglect, he didn’t want the same for silvia to see her thrive made him happy, he loves his twin a lot
after his uncle died, and they all got the riches of the family business, he rly saw his mom do a 360 and saw how much money changed the bitch, he rly hates that hag he rlly does, she lets her own son rot and makes sure silvia never feels the way he does around her so he sucks up his pride sometimes
anyways growing up !! he's always been home schooled, unlike silvia he never did anything? he doesnt need to? now that he’s dripping wealth he’s like i can buy excellence i dont need to be work my ass off like yall, bye <3
he’s very cautious of people, you know how the old trope goes.. once betrayed never trust again - that’s him, hardly lets anyone into his circle, it’s so small it’s just himself tbh
anyways , he spent most of his teen years traveling and wandering the world bc it's sexier than being home and u could be whoever u wanna be across seas , not tht he ever faked his identity, his name has meaning n he uses tht for his advantage. even home schooled, he’d be doing school in italy, france, greece, maldives you name it, his experience was the outside world and he’s seen a lot
sebastian doesn't hide himself , like what u see is . esstentially what u see x he has never faked it for the cameras, always authentically and annoyingly himself
he knows he's not a pleasant person and if u can't u can't hang. he's not gna make himself a pleasant person to hang out with , if u wnna curse him out ? curse him out he rly doesn't phase at all like he's rly heard it ALL from his mother that nothing else rly hurts , it takes a lot to hurt him
unless ur silvia, anything that girl says breaks his heart but he doesnt let it show his .00007 centimeter of whats left in his chest
moving on, he's rly the type to show up anyone out of spite . say he can't do it ? watch him do it perfectly the next day , he doesn't like being shown to be stupid bc as much as he does as dumb , he rly isn't the boy has a lot of knowledge up in his brain , he likes playing stupid for the aesthetic. like the jungs come from a line of brains and such, silvia has the brains and the drive - sebastian just... hides it, never shows up to class, pays it off by buying a new wing for the school..
but when he does do smthn to show up ppl, does it w grace and a smile on his face or if he wants to prove someone wrong, does it with ease
he interrupts people's tasks bc he doesn't want one of those tasks to be involving silvia at all
he is a Whore , he just fucks anything honestly u yell at him n he's just . HE's jsut full of himself makes me wnna punch him uhh i thin kthats it!! hes just , a damaged self absorbed son of a binch u kno , gets his shit rocked sometimes and he just laughs it off wipes tears , god  bless

So you think Robert was attracted/lust for Rebecca is why he slept with her? I don't agree at all It not about her he not attracted to her
Nooooooope not what I said at all. Not even slightly. I’ve never once said that anon. I said he has issues understanding how to be faithful - even to Aaron. I think I phrased that wrong though - it’s more that he has an unconventional way of thinking about it??? That probably requires a lot more fuckin open conversation than he’s ever given it if it were to continue?????
I think with Chrissie, he just had no regard for her feelings and was more out to have a good time regardless, and then he obviously started a whole affair with Aaron and fell in love with him.
With Aaron, it’s more… ok it revolves around Robert’s understanding of how he uses sex - there’s sex with Aaron, who he loves, who he is emotionally intimate with. And then there’s flirting, kissing and ultimately sex that can be used as a means to an end - as a way to accomplish a goal? And to Robert, those are different things. So even when he’s cheating on Aaron, or doing something that Aaron wouldn’t want him to do, aside from the eventual one night stand, in his mind those things are completely separate from his relationship with Aaron because they’re not an expression of love or intimacy - in his mind the idea that there’s any comparison is hilariously absurd and so he himself doesn’t necessarily see it for what it is, or see it as particularly bad, because those actions are so much less than what he has with Aaron? I mean - he does see it as wrong (if he didn’t he’d be more open about it) but he doesn’t see it as…. like I don’t think, to him, it’s a sign that he loves Aaron any less? Because in his mind nothing can compete???? There’s his love for Aaron and then there’s everything else. It’s ridiculous and he’s an idiot ok, but I just…. this is what I’m always left thinking, when I think about this.
Here’s my reasoning behind this - let’s just go step by step through the instances in which Robert has physically cheated on Aaron:
The first Robert/Rebecca kiss:
this is the stupidest kiss because it makes no fuckin sense to me but hey - it supports my theory. We have Robert kissing Rebecca as a way to prove he’s not into her. He’s spent the days since her return flirting with her, which we know is to butter her up to try and get her to betray her family and help Andy. He hasn’t explained this part to Aaron, conveniently, but he has told him he brought her back and got her to slap him lmao.
ANYWAY, he eventually kisses her bc she keeps trying to get him to and then is immediately like “oh bless ty for proving to me that i only ever want to kiss Aaron for the rest of my life I’d rather not sleep with u I am a loyal person now because I’ve found the person I want to be loyal too xoxo” and then goes off, literally buys Aaron a ring and makes out with him in the pub hallway. Insane. Anyway, it was a means to an end (it should have done absolutely nothing to help him win Rebecca over but it turns out Robert knows her better than I do and understood that a little thing like “I feel nothing for you” would never stop Rebecca White) - it was a way for Robert to prove to himself that he had no desire to cheat on Aaron emotionally. Which. I guess. He didn’t. Sigh.
Naturally, everyone cheats as a way to prove they’re never going to cheat.
Why were we surprised this marriage ended in a surprise baby again?
Anyway.
I remember when this stuff was first airing and I made a post (that probably ended up in my drafts bc all my controversial meta at that time ended up in my drafts) that said that Robert seemed to be pushing the boundaries of how far he felt he could take things with Rebecca while still being loyal to Aaron in a way that sat right with him internally and that he was taking himself further and further out of his own comfort zone - and that it would all inevitably blow up in his face. (ok this doesn’t sound controversial but it was controversial at the time lmao) I stand by that even with hindsight, I think. It just throws up interesting questions about where Robert’s own personal moral boundaries are and how they might differ to another persons - Aaron’s in particular - especially without any open and clear conversation to Aaron to go alongside it. And the post also said that Aaron’s presence in Robert’s life complicated things because pre-Aaron, Robert would hella just sleep with Rebecca. Now in this age of needing to draw a lot firmer lines because Aaron is someone to consider, he was sort of… struggling to adapt a little, and floundering.
ANYWAY MOVING ALONG
The Second Rob/Rebecca Kiss:
So, obvs Rob is hella over helping Andy now, Andy who, he’s spotted an opportunity to make money and he’s gonna take it 🙌🏼 monay monay monay monayyyy (monayyyyy!)
He’s leading Rebecca on and doing his flirty thing blah blah and she kisses him and he kisses back but is then like UH NOT RIGHT NOW BABE HAHAHA whilst internally screaming and then he tries to hide it and it all comes out anyway and Aaron is the least surprised and Robert is literally like… LOOK HE BARELY EVEN SAYS SORRY OK
HE’S LITERALLY LIKE AARON HOW IN THE FUCK COULD U EVER BELIEVE I ACTUALLY MEANT THAT PLS HAVE U SEEN U??? MY LOVE FOR U WILL NEVER END ULL ALWAYS BE A PART OF MEEE AS LONG AS TIME KEEPS ON PASSING BY YOULL ALWAYS BE MY BABY BOOOOYYY~~~
HE LITERALLY SAYS TO REBECCA U KNOW I WASNT INTO IT SMH
WHY DOES HE JUST ASSUME EVERYONE INCLUDING REBECCA KNOWS THAT HE IS EMOTIONALLY COMMITTED TO ONLY AARON EVEN WHILE TRYING TO FUCKIN LEAD REBECCA ON WITH HIS MAGIC DICK he’s an absurd man absolutely absurd
HES LIKE AARON IF U KISSED SOMEONE I WOULD IMMEDIATELY BELIEVE U DIDNT ENJOY OR WANT IT it kills me this whole situation kills me but JUST LOOK AT HIM CASUALLY SEPARATING HIS CASUAL PHYSICALITY IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET HIS OWN WAY WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND THE WAY HE IS WITH AARON bc nothing compares to aaron? and that’s just the way the world is, according to robert j sugden.
The one night stand:
OK DIFFERENT BC HE IS USING IT AS A WAY TO HURT AARON BUT LITERALLY IN THE REVEAL HE SAYS AS MUCH AND HE SAYS IT’S EMPTY AND JUST it’s just a pattern ok he just sort of… uses sex as a tool in a lot of ways that come back to bite him and also in ways that he never ultimately seems particularly proud of
But also, it’s at least occasionally implied, in ways that work out really well for him - I think it just worked out better before Aaron came along and he had a reason to not fuck around? And reconciling those two things has proved an interesting challenge for him?
One that he has essentially failed so far lmao.
This whole post is so excessively OTT and i haven’t even gone into enough detail and obvs we could talk about rob flirting with the random lady ahead of the January fight too and his insistence that flirting to get business done is just how things happen aaron chill out son LIKE HE LITERALLY THREATENED TO BREAK UP WITH AARON OVER THAT
we could also talk about his relationships with larry and chrissie and bex in 2014 and before then - and with larry now, but we talk about that enough don’t we
Anyway, this is fascinating to me and slightly sad and I think it also fits the classic “depraved bisexual” trope if I’m remembering that correctly, but idk
I just don’t think this is necessarily the sex positive ~do what u want live ur life as u want it~ life and more just a ~robert has an interesting view on his worth and how that relates to his physical attractiveness and he seemed a lot more comfortable with that before aaron was in the picture but that still didn’t stop him after aaron did come along it just made things a lot harder and at least in terms of present day it certainly isn’t coming from a place of happiness~
and like i said earlier it makes me want to sit him down and repeat burt hummel’s sex ed speech to him idk
This is the stupidest meta I’ve ever written yw
