I wanna talk about Cas in this fight scene.

Specifically, right here at the end. The angel’s got him. He’s as good as dead if he doesn’t comply. And yet... the look on his face here isn’t fear. It’s more of a look of surprise, like this:

with smidge of annoyance:

As opposed to true fear:

Why?

Because Castiel knows what awaits him in death, and more importantly, he knows death can’t hold him.

Death has no power over Castiel.

It would be a minor inconvenience at best, and then Jack would inevitably wake him up and the Entity would kick him out of the Empty again, probably faster this time.

He has no reason to be afraid.

So the angel who double-crossed him gets a, “Seriously? Again?” eyeroll and a, “Oh yeah, motherfucker?” glance.

Right now, Castiel, and presumably the Winchesters, are the most powerful beings on Earth next to Jack. They literally cannot die.

And it’s clear to me that Cas has that figured out.
