When I saw @happylifesims latest 1940s dress I was itching to put some patterns on it, so I've gone ahead and recoloured it in a few floral and gingham swatches. I've also added solid swatches in SerendipitySims' Historian palette!

Historical Newspaper Recolor

A Historical recolor of Soloriya's newspaper prop! This prop has been very handy for many pose creators so I wanted to add swatches for DecadesSimmers.

El Dorado Cabaret & Casino (Download Tray Files & CC)

Yes, I'm back to playing TS4 and that means I'm back to building. I created a sim called Octavia who used to be an exotic dancer (until she married money and started the black widow challenge), so I needed to have a Generic lot that worked as a cabaret/casino for gameplay purposes and I decided to build it from scratch. I'm now sharing it with you guys in case you also need something similar for your vintage 1920s/30s/40s save file.

The exterior is obviously inspired by the infamous El Dorado Berlin while the interior I kinda reimagined myself. Here are some screenshots:

Before you go ahead and download it into your game, a few IMPORTANT disclaimers:

The lot is a 30x20. I built it on Magnolia Promenade.

I used items from a few expansions and packs (listed below), so if you don't own them those items might be replaced with others.

This lot is designed to work as a Stripclub, therefore you'll be needing the Wicked Whims mod in order to obtain the pole and have your sims being able to dance for money.

Like all my builds, this is a heavily CC based lot. If you don't have a powerful PC, it might get laggy while trying to play with it.

Regarding the CC, I do not own nor take credit from any item included within this lot. All credit goes to their amazing creators.

The .ZIP file (2.76 GB) includes two folders: one for the Tray Files and another one with all the CC. I'm 100% sure all the CC I used is already public for everyone; if it's not, it's been definitely longer than three weeks since it has all been in my game and you (the CC creator) shouldn't be putting content behind permanent paywalls to begin with ;)

I did use bb.moveobjects on while building and have playtested it, so it should be fully functional. Let me know if otherwise.

Like I said before, the lot is currently set as Generic so I could turn it into a Stripclub with Wicked Whims and have my burlesque sims make some simoleons while dancing. Wicked Whims is not included within the CC folder, you'll have to download it and install it yourself.

Half Moon Manicure Set

@therococoprometheus and I teamed up to bring you a set inspired by 1930's nail polish ads ! On my side of this collab you'll find cc nails perfectly suited for 20's, 30's and 40's looks. In the West, in the 19th and early 20th century, nails were usely cared for and tinted using faintly colored oils or powders that had to be buffed into the nail to achieve a slightly rosier look. At least by 1917 there was also "nail white", used to get a whiter nail end. Indeed the sought after look in the late 10's and 20's was a pink shiny nails with light contrasting sole and ends. When liquid nail polish became more widely available in the 20's, this look was emulated by applying the polish solely to the middle of the nail in a crescent shape, and such giving us the half moon manicure an iconic style sported by about every fashionable lady from the late 20s to the late 30s. By the 40's, the half moon manicure started to decline in popularity, the most fashionable looks being either fully painted nails or a version of the half moon manicure with painted ends. By then longer nails were also more popular as can be seen on the likes of Rita Hayworth or Marlene Dietrich. Those nail polishes were quite shiny and a bit sheer so I tried my best to replicate these characteristics in my own cc. The color palette for these cc nails is also directly taken from old nail polish ads.

These nails with their short and oval shape fit the style most popular in the 20s especially in their (20's) half moon manicure version. Though they could also suit later decade for a shorter more work friendly nail especially in the 40s and solid version.

In the 30's longer and pointier nails became more fashionable and as such these long almond nails in their half moon versions would be perfect for a 30's look. They would also fit perfectly in the 40's in either their solid or 40's half moon version.

Hi there! I haven't been super active lately on the simming community due my new job but now i have some extra time between my hands and decided to finish this WIP that is been sitting on my folders since June. This time i give you these Clayfied versions of these 1940's inspired Victory Rolls hair. I really love these hairs with my heart (even with all that alpha) but i never been a fan of Colores Urbanos shady Patreons practices that she had back on the day (Locking CC for 2 years before released them for free? WTF honey?)

Both hairs were created by Colores Urbanos but you dont need the original meshes to have this version, these hairs were completely remapped and retextured from scratch that way i could have that Maxis Match clay style.

Do you ever have those times where you have an idea for a lookbook, you work on it for days and nothing seems to click? That's what happened with my initially planned Halloween lookbook this week, but then the perfect inspiration hit me - Scooby Doo but make it 1940s. I've given each of the gang their own cover inspired by the popular detective pulp novels of that era, with the titles and authors based on real life episodes and screenwriters from the Scooby Doo show. First up is Velma, which I have to say is my most favourite.

Okay, so— like.

I’m doing drag queen/king camp this week and HOLY CRAP I did not realize the amount of thought and effort that goes into this work of art. Like, kudos to all the drag icons because it’s only day one and I’m scrambling to try and figure everything out.

All I know is I am neither drag king or queen, I am a drag thing. At least, that’s what they’re referring to it as.

Like, I want my performance to confuse the heck out of the audience over what my persona’s gender is. Are they male? Female? Nonbinary? Yes and no all at the same time.

I feel like that’s part of the idea I want to portray here. I’m a cis female (I don’t care if ppl refer to me as “they” irl or online tho, it doesn’t bother me), but I always referred to myself as a “tomboy” growing up for one reason or another. I want this character to challenge the very gender roles that we as a society fostered into being. Breaking boundaries and being between the lines of what constitutes as a “man” or a “woman”, that’s what I want my persona to represent. They don’t fit into any one category, simply because they don’t need to. They’re just a person. A silly goober, if you will.

As for the fit— thanks to my friend’s advisement — I’m thinking of a 1940s Flapper Dress paired with some more masc attire in shoes, makeup, and maybe hat and tie. It would be very fun and something I’d honestly wear outside of drag. Like DANG 1940s fits are FIRE 🔥! I can get a top hat, add the feathers, wear the gloves, etc. (Yes my friends told me I should make the drag outfit Batim inspired since it’s my fixation and maybe this is my excuse for that, but I really do enjoy the Golden Era of film and media culture of that time period. Either way it works in my favor)

And, of course, I couldn’t resist taking some inspiration from Luz’s Grom outfit from The Owl House. Can you blame me though? I mean, look at it!

Very demure, very mindful, very slay. 💅

Coming up with names and a personality is something I’m going to have to come up with later in the week when I have more time. :3

So sorry if I’m not as active on any of my accounts this week. I’ll try to write when I can, but I have a lot on my plate between work, school, and planning my drag persona and performance. Maybe I’ll ramble more about this if anyone is interested. For now… I need to study (Y’all I was sick all last week and didn’t go to school and apparently I have an exam tomorrow that I didn’t study for I’m SO cooked 🙏😭)

Alison Kelly for @plumbob-pudding's Henford Ladies' College

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Alison Kelly quickly established herself in her neighborhood as a troublemaker. What started off as a bit of a hot temper, left unregulated by her meek parents with their too-many children, turned into a full-blown violent streak. Just recently, Alison was expelled from her fourth school after attacking one of her fellow students. (What they don't tell you, she'll say when you ask, is that he had been following her home for weeks.)

Now her parents have decided to ship her off to boarding school, in hopes of quelling Alison's love of conflict. Alison herself is hungry for popularity, ready to be seen for her true, fabulous self. Somehow, though, she never quite manages to get the social credit she's looking for. Maybe this time will be different?

Alison's course schedule includes dominating on the tennis courts, cheating her way through Latin, and sneaking out of her room to meet boys in town. Keep an eye out for this one, Agnes!
