Chapters: 49/50 Fandom: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Rating: Explicit Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Dovahkiin | Dragonborn/Miraak, Male Dovahkiin | Dragonborn/Miraak Characters: Male Dovahkiin | Dragonborn, Miraak (Elder Scrolls), Lucien Flavius, Teldryn Sero, Hermaeus Mora
New chapter! Sorry this took so long, I essentially had to write a huge chunk of chapter 50 as well so I could figure out the pacing. We’ve got some introspection, some action, and it’s all building up to the grand finale...
The room is cast in cool, shadowy hues. A scant bit of moonlit peers in through the dusty windows. Outside he hears the rustle of leaves in the night breeze, the distant click of torchbugs - no people to fawn over him, no dragons to charge against, no pressing matters to deal with. But in the absence of other issues, he finds not peace, but hollowness.
The void-feeling in his chest grows worse, even when he takes a deep breath to try and dispel it. This is - why is he like this? He should be happy. Why isn’t he happy?
Next to him he hears a rumbling, tired voice, “What can I do?”
Startled, he glances over to see Miraak’s half-open eyes trained on him, framed by pale eyelashes. The whites are still ink-black; the irises used to be Apocrypha-green but they’ve since changed to a cool gold that seems to catch the light. A touch of divinity for sure, after his brush with Alduin’s soul. There’s a sort of weary wistfulness in them now, as he looks over at Chrysanthe. “What can I do?” he repeats when Chry doesn’t answer him right away. “I will do anything that you ask of me, if you would but ask.”

Thanks to werewolf-garfield for sending in this unique 1965 Mid-Century modern home in Moline, Illinois. 3bds, 3ba, $375K.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before you enter the actual house, there's this big atrium with a glass ceiling. Judging by the number of heat/ac ducts, I would say that it's a 4 season room. This could be so beautifully decorated.
Tumblr media
From there you enter a large foyer with a coat closet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, a huge room with a massive fireplace and vaulted ceiling. This home can be magnificent and for the price, come on. They have it so bland in beige, and no cool furniture.
Tumblr media
The family room is huge and has a dining area with a brick wall. This could be fabulous. Look at the window wall- some lovely gardening would make a great view.
Tumblr media
The kitchen is so convenient to the dining room and the family area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This spacious kitchen could be stunning. Brick walls, original cabinetry with newer countertops, that double exhaust hood, vaulted ceiling, skylights- it has so much potential.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Large primary bedroom has a brick feature wall, large closet and a great window wall.
Tumblr media
Wow, I didn't expect this closet area in the en-suite.
Tumblr media
This is so nice. Love the private toilet.
Tumblr media
The 2nd bedroom is lovely and also has a brick feature wall.
Tumblr media
Another nice bath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at the amazing built-ins in this bedroom. A gorgeous roll-top desk, a cool shelving unit, and look at how crappy it looks.
Tumblr media
Roomy utility room has so much storage, plus room for another fridge or freezer, and two work surfaces- great for planting.
Tumblr media
3 car garage.
Tumblr media
This home has so much potential to be fabulous and the price isn't bad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, it comes with 5.50 acres of land.

Be sure to watch the season 2 premiere of Moon girl and Devil Dinosaur because the show is in danger of being cancelled
Yeah, everyone at the Disney Beat server and I saw a couple of nights ago, and we've all been so fucking ANGRY at Disney. 14 episodes getting dropped all at once on Disney+?! What the fuck were they thinking?!
(Rant under the cut.)
It's bad enough they release batches of episodes at once like what Netflix did with Sonic Prime, but they plan to drop around half a season there to where they're making the main channel do two episodes per week?! You seriously couldn't do weekly premieres on TV and have the new episodes get released the next day on streaming, like what HBO Max did with Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and My Adventures with Superman?! The fact they reveal this on the MGDD Crew TikTok and paint it as a good thing does not help either. "How could you not celebrate" HOW COULD YOU NOT REALIZE YOU'RE BEING SO FUCKING DENSE RIGHT NOW?! LOOK AT THIS SHIT!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You cannot make this up! Streaming as a whole has seriously fucked over entertainment. Netflix made the binge format the new norm, and it's not working anymore. If you thought shows getting shorter-lived hype through binging compared to a weekly release was an issue, the quantity is a-whole-nother problem. If it was 5 or 6 episodes getting added at a time, that would be less infuriating, but this is 14 half-hour episodes we're talking about! That's 308 minutes of straight-up binging Disney expects us to do! No one is gonna binge this many episodes in a timeframe like that! And keep in mind, this isn't an earlier season from a finished or ongoing show; this is a whole new season we're talking about. People who haven't watched MGADD yet or don't have Disney+ and/or cable are gonna get exposed to a fuck ton of spoilers. Not to mention Disney Channel is gonna have to spend 7 weeks catching up to Disney+ with the episodes they air on TV. That will do a serious number on the TV views! And don't get me started on the international releases because I was told MGADD has been delayed so much to where S2 of dubbing is done (hence the promos in Japan), but considering the company's crapass handling of international releases, people won't be able to watch it until a much later date. Oh, and there are also countries that don't have the show despite it being dubbed in their language. Right off the bat, that's international views down the drain and the strong possibility of people in the other countries being exposed to spoilers depending on what they come across and who they're following.
You know what the absolute kicker is? They had the fucking audacity to reveal this shortly after they treated The Ghost and Molly McGee like garbage. No joke! The very minimal reruns they gave it throughout its run, its cancellation as season 3 was being drafted, the shitty promotions, them releasing "Jinx vs. the Human World" on iTunes and "The End" on YouTube ahead of their TV and Disney+ releases. I am not kidding about the last part; because Disney didn't temporarily remove them, SpoilerTV reported both episodes received only 63K and 56K TV views! Now compare that to the 375K views "Watching and Dreaming" got; all three TOH specials weren't released on YouTube or Disney+ until after the DC/XD simulcast premiere! And this is the same show that got shortened by the now retired Gary Marsh! The upsetting part is Bill Motz is blaming himself for putting too much pressure on the fans for watching TGAMM and appointing ambassadors to help promote it. No, it's not your fault, Bill. It's the Disney executives and their shitty marketing strategy's fault your show got cancelled. You care about the show you and Bob Roth created, and you wanted it to do well. The higher ups didn't bother to continue promoting the show after it premiered, and that alone just forced you, the ambassadors, and the audience to do their job for them. They're the reason why it underperformed on D+ and DC. Now, it may potentially happen again with MGADD thanks to them!
Why did they pulling any of this shit was a good idea?! The show got ample marketing, from an advertisement outside the Days of Christmas store in Disney Springs and Moon Girl herself appearing in Disney California Adventure to merchandise such as a Moon Girl Funko, a couple of books, and even a graphic novel! It has received nominations and won awards, and the current lead executive Ayo Davis said season 1 performed well in ratings! Yet they turn around and pull all of this bullshit as season 2 approaches! Seriously, what is preventing you from doing next-day weekly releases and continuing your marketing, Disney?! All your other Marvel shows have gotten weekly releases and so much promoting, and regardless of the reception of each show, they all get high ratings! That even includes What If…?, the MCU's first animated show! Just because MGADD is adjacent/not entirely connected to the MCU and is a Disney TVA show doesn't give you the excuse to treat it like crap post-season 1!
I'm sorry for the ranting, but this multi-whammy has been so fucking frustrating. I have been a big fan of MGADD since the beginning, and like I previously said, it helped fill the DuckTales-shaped hole in my heart. I'm glad that it has such a strong start, and I want it to continue doing well, but the upcoming 14-episode release was such a fucking gut punch. The more the active Disney Beat server memebrs and I ranted and vented about it, the more furious we grew to where a few of us—myself included—were in tears; it is such a horrendous decision the Disney executives made! I'm at least glad the past week has gotten people to talk about how shows are getting treated nowadays thanks to streaming, and Disney Beat tweeting about the 14-episode bomb release announcement got deleted. Unfortunately, the higher ups most likely deleted it just to save face and won't reverse the decision in the end. Regardless, more people are catching onto the pitfalls with streaming and are noticing how shows no longer have the opportunities to build audiences over time. They are treated as nothing more as a means of gaining views and instant gratification rather than a medium made for one's enjoyment. With the Animation Guild's contract having been expired for around a few months, I hope one of their demands is to stop the shows' mistreatments and lack of sufficient marketing because streaming left a devastating and worsening impact on the entertainment and animation industries.

ok so i just wanna say that this is such a big slay!!! the fact that you are so committed and regularly update is just, like, very amazing(i could never). and the STORY???????? omg could not be better. on a random note your grammar is really good lol. ok i’m done, have a good day :)
This is the first time that someone complimented me for updating regularly LMAO
I feel like IF authors get gaslit by some readers into thinking that they don't update enough, and I think we as IF authors should feel more comfortable in telling those people to fuck themselves tbh.
You're right, for someone who is writing and publishing this story completely for free - while having a whole life to live and bills to pay and the occasional personal crisis - I am updating pretty regularly.
I made it to 10 chapters, 375k words! We're a few chapters off from being halfway through the story! That's pretty crazy.
Usually I'm so fixated on getting the next update out that I don't stop and look back on the progress I've already made so far, but I think that's really important to do if you want to keep your motivation up as a writer. All in all, I'm doing a pretty good job.
Thanks for the ask 💖

Question for you both. Did you the amount of plot you've condensed surprise you? After all, Tigerstar was the cause of a lot of unnecessary fluff, before and after his death. I can't help but wonder how much stuff is going to be cut and rearranged before you reach the lake lol. -Formerly known as Ravenwing anon, now an anon no longer!
LYNX: Yes and no. A lot of excess fluff in Warriors is due to page-filling exercises of hunting and patrolling and (more relevant to TPB) getting into pointless battles. Time that could've been spent developing characters or culture or going into further detail for the plot. I've yet to see the exact numbers on this, but the core series books are 60k-65k words long, with a full arc being roughly 375k words long. A Kindling is 102k words long, Burning Hearts is 93k, and Charred Legacy is shaping up to be roughly 150k words long, and I have no idea how long the final book will be so I'll just lowball it with 100k words. That's probably going to pan out to 445k words in total, longer than the median length of an arc.
I think Warriors' issues are more of a consequence of focus. They have so much to do, but too little time to do it. I unfortunately wasn't able to read Thunder, but at least from what I heard, Frostpaw developed entirely off-page. Closing out her chapter she is learning to relax and opening up her next she's like, "I KNOW ALL," like, something's missing here. An older example: Into the Wild skips two months from Firepaw joining the Clan to meeting Yellowfang for the first time. The story just tells us he's gotten more acquainted with Thunderclan without letting us see it, preventing us from getting to know his Clanmates and their culture more. Why not develop myths of the Legendary Clans? Why not let Firepaw babysit for Frostfur? Why not let the characters breathe?
Reading a Warriors book feels a lot like being at an airport: hurry up and wait. Hurry along the plot, but then suffer another damn hunting scene shut up shut up shut up no one cares about your stupid mouse this is not relevant to the plot nor interesting in any way.
DULLARD: No longer in the void of anonymity! Welcome!
As for the question, we did actually just cut two chapters for being unnecessary fluff. Those chapters took up an entire subplot in canon and wasted some valuable time. I think you'll figure out which subplot that is once chapters start being posted.
I would say that the changes made to remove fluff aren't what surprised me. Rather, it was the stuff we kept. We largely have the same foundations as canon, just simultaneously condensed and expanded upon. In some areas, we did swap stuff out for something we consider more interesting, but it's remarkable how many things still remain. Granted, they're going to be painted in a different color, but they're still there.

Afterword: Will there be a sequel to GHD?
After almost four years, GOL HAH DOV is finally a finished project. 50 chapters, just shy of 375K words (about 4-5 full novels’ worth of writing) and I don’t want to know how many hours of furiously typing, here we are at the finish line. As we started getting near the end a few people asked whether I was going to write a sequel, but the answer was too complex to put in an author’s note, so I thought I’d discuss it in more detail here.
Unfortunately, the short version of this is probably not, but let me explain why.
So, there are many things that could go in a sequel. Off the top of my head, I’ve yet to write about: the events of the Dawnguard DLC. The truth about Chrysanthe’s past. How they contend with Hermaeus Mora, who is still gunning for them. How the civil war unfolds when the First Dragonborn looks at both the Empire and Stormcloaks and says ‘nah, I’ll make my own faction’. How the Thalmor react to this. Miraak’s rise to power when he’s not allowed to use his mind control powers, and Chrysanthe’s general struggle to keep Miraak on a morally good path.
All of this could definitely make for another longfic but what I don’t have is any sort of romantic development. The trouble with writing a soulmates fic is that once the couple have overcome their personal issues, there’s very little further tension. Chrysanthe and Miraak actually got together very early in the fic (about chapter 12 out of 50) and the rest has been about them learning each other, becoming more intertwined… but I’m not really sure how they can get more intertwined, after the events of GHD. There are many external points of tension (politics, Thalmor, daedra) but there’s nothing internal - only Miraak’s dubious morality, but we already know that he’ll change his course for Chrysanthe, so what else is there to add?
Essentially, I can’t see how to further develop the relationship, and to me the romantic tension is what makes a fic worth writing. Without it, I just know that even if I started a GHD sequel, I wouldn’t have the enthusiasm to see it through to the end. Now that may change, and I might think of something new… but for the time being, I’m going to put GHD down and focus on other things.
Those other things are: 1) The Tav/Astarion Baldur’s Gate 3 longfic I’ve started, Tooth for a Tooth, which has all my attention at the minute. It’s darker than GHD but the protagonist has the same steely-stoic paladin vibe, so if you liked Chrysanthe you might like him too 2) A while ago I posted a fic idea in which the Last Dragonborn (Chrysanthe, or a totally new character) ends up in the past with pre-Apocrypha Miraak. Again this is a longfic that I’m not sure I really have the spoons for, but I’d say I’m more likely to write this than a GHD sequel 3) Various other bits and pieces, unfinished oldfics, etc.
I know that might be disappointing for some to read, but I hope my reasons make sense at least! And I hope that you still enjoy GOL HAH DOV as its own piece of work, and come back to read anything else that I might write in the future. Thank you again for coming on this Skyrim adventure with me!

iran is bleeding russia dry for these drones. between 200k and 375k depending on the bulk order price. all for a chinese smartphone glued to a moped engine that most western analysts cost out at around 20k. a weapon who's effect so far has only been terror attacks on civilians because there's neither the precision nor payload to do anything else.
aside from taking their pound of flesh in the way only the best allies do, iran won't take rubles because those are worthless toilet paper at this point. russia is transferring billions of dollars of gold bullion to iran to pay for it
the gold matters because one of russia's main sources of income is mineral rights in central africa. wagner, now rebranding to the afrika korps, is bolstering the RSF who are commiting atrocities in sudan including massacres on civilian populations. wagner mercenaries are most likely behind the instability across central africa.
ukrainian special forces are in africa attempting to disrupt the flow of gold which has been criticised by many pundits. but the issue is its a far easier ordeal to stop the gold at the source than it is to prevent shipments between iran and russia. its also disrupting russian attempts to destabilise africa for their own game.
the takeaway from all this is there's multiple facets to war and everything is interconnected. also if you can get into the caspian sea there's some ripe opportunities for pillage and plunder anne bonny style

I want to be Lawrence's sugar baby. Please Dr. Gordon, one chance, that is all I ask for-
OKAY I DID THE MATH AND I-I agree.
I am entirely shameless about this bc in current money Lawrence would make like,, 471,000 a year. adjusting that for inflation and then adjusting again bc there is no fucking WAY, I would say that he still makes close to that?? the current-day median oncologist income in Jersey was more than $350,000 per my google and I feel like he makes around $375k a year anyway
I wanna be optimistic and say that he makes 400k a year post-trap and so I will be--had he and Alison bought a house in 1991 or 1992 then the mortgage on it would've been either close to or fully paid off by the time he was put in the trap anyway (they're both smart people and could make large payments, especially after Lawrence started at Angels of Mercy. no questions pls.) and so that's,, that's one less expense
I have no idea where this thought process went but if anyone wants me to write a fic or series about this, my head is fuckin' spinning with ideas and I adore them all so someone,, someone egg me on and I will go through and write the first chapter

Top 5 Things You've Written That You're Most Proud Of!
Ask Me My "Top 5" Anything....
CrossRoads. Which is not posted anywhere except on Facebook, and even then it's only the first...2/3 of it? I think? I've used it a bit here and there in some of my RP stuff and have tried to reboot it and done some of that here and there but. The original CrossRoads was the first full length novel I finished writing. It took me...three? years? Yeah. So this.
Soulless. Which also I haven't posted publicly anywhere. But this is my book that delves into the soulmate timer world I built. (You in particular would like this. For reasons.) But of all of the soulmate timer stuff I've written, this one is my favorite and the one I'm probably the most proud of. Because I finally figured out how to novel it.
Surrogate.
Luisa and the Fox. Maybe this shouldn't be on Top 5 proud but. It's one of my favorite things I've ever written, and it's the singular one of my fanfic that I've printed out and have in a binder (with a fanmade cover! Actually!), so like. This goes on this list.
Finding Family (and really also this should include the Finding Family Holiday Special because it's part of the original). Because I can't a Top 5 list of things I'm proud of without mentioning this. This mammoth thing. This nearly 375k fic (it passes that if you include the Holiday Special. Which you should) that I wrote in five months and for a while was posting a chapter a day - sometimes two chapters a day (I think maybe three chapters one day? I think) - and which gave me a month of over 100k in one month (and the next month was 90k) like. This mammoth thing. Praise God for this thing because like. I'm so proud of this thing. And I'm so proud that I actually finished it. And I'm so proud that I was able to give it the ending it was meant to have - the one I planned from the beginning - and that like. It evolved and expanded and the community that grew up around it and discussed it with me and left comments like. This fic. is SO important to me. And like. I can't words this one fully, I don't think. And that's okay.
