(130) FAKE RUMORS FOR YOU. 💭💌

i have definitely made several posts related to fake rumors both from cql era & rumor houses so this is definitely one of my favorite things to share. these are all from cql filming timeline where the practice of fake rumors really started. this does not include the 49 initial fakes. as usual, these are not real. 🤐

i found the screenshot compilation over here. so there you go. enjoy! 🍰🍪🍭

1. the two of them are very close on the set and when female supporting role has not been deleted yet. During one scene, wyb once asked the director with a black face ( angry ) in front of xz “I can’t tell what the relationship between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji is. I can’t immerse myself in the role”

( I think it’s common knowledge that in the beginning, the production had some hetero agenda to appease censorship. As we all know, the book fans weren’t happy with that because it takes away the key essence of the story. I’m so happy we got the depiction of WWX/LWJ relationship that we did. I’m happy that XZ and WYB both voiced their bias to follow the source material. Remember XZ also said ( in an unofficial bts so let’s take it as fake too ) to cut the scenes with a female lead that seems romantic. so whoever is saying that these two were somehow tricked into starring in a bl drama needs some serious common sense lol )

2. xz watched wyb’s video of “yelling lyrics” and laughed at him for a long time

3. they looked up each others’ dark history, wyb searched xz’s old pictures, and xz searched are wyb’s videos.

( i think this is proven in an interview, they did look up each other’s previous works. HAHAHAHAHA! it’s so cuteeee cause this is like when you have a crush on someone and you stalk their socials to know more about them. but ofc theirs was all professional courtesy. or was it? )

4. next, xz said when he pulled out his blonde video he said that wyb was so cute. wyb even flipped up his hair to show him, but when another actor said it, wyb just smiled but didn't respond.

( lol omg dandan yibo! )

5. when playing Honor of Kings, wyb likes to play as topsolo and jungle, xz usually plays as midsolo, xz once complained that wyb has no team awareness and being unable to score points with him.

( there is a whole cpn about this that’s super interesting over here. )

6. likes to praise each other exaggeratedly in front of the camera and in private. even if they have NG scenes.

7. many scenes were deleted from the drama, such as the branding on the chest. There was also a scene where Lan Wangji went off the cliff to find Wei Wuxian. The scenes were not aired. I guess it’s too ambiguous.

8. wyb sometimes leaves the crew to do other work xz will often chat with him on WeChat. Once the director asked him who he was video chatting with. Then he just said “it’s Lao Wang”. The director was shocked at that time.

( we have cpn about this too, them sending each other photos and videos. chatting and video calling when they are not filming together. )

9. wyb introduced xz to motorcycles and raced with him at the scene. I feel like xz is not interested in the video but has been listening patiently.

10. The two of them often eat together after work, wyb loves to eat sour food. One time, xz staff bought two portions of “liang pi” xz thought it was a bit sour and ate a little. Wyb finished his portion and still ate xz’s leftovers.

( this is basically true as well. i mean we have video/s of them eating off of each other’s plate )

11. wyb taught xz dancing and korean on the set.

12. both of them are very childish and like to use all kinds of strange words.

13. wyb once used a forehead ribbon in the dressing room to tie xz’s hands up, xz looked at him indifferently and helplessly.

14. when filming the scene in the cave, both of them got wet. The makeup laoshi asked them to hurry up and put on their costumes outside. The two of them were still in the water. When playing inside, wyb immediately took off xz’s outermost coat.

15. two people have discussed the issue of body hair xz asked wyb: Why do you have so little leg hair? Wyb said he was born with it. xz looked at him with an interesting expression.

16. the deleted branding scene was after Lan Wangji recovered from his injury. Looking for Wei Wuxian's body on the cliff, but we only saw the battle in the Nightless City. He was so angry and sad that he burned the torture instrument with lava and burned the same wound in the same place on his chest.

17. another one that was deleted was the conversation with Wei Wuxian on a snowy night. 19. wyb often plays Wei Wuxian’s flute on set but xz doesn’t play much with Lan Wangji’s sword. Wyb once said that he (xz) was the best blowing the flute the group. xz beat him because of that. Lol.

20. the reason for Lan Wangji’s shape is that there are two strands of hair in front. so when waiting for the scene, he would pick up the hair at the back xz and help him. He said it many times, and also said that Wang Yibo can get married if he has long hair that reaches his waist.

21. xz said that wyb has a shape that looks like bamboo shoots and then at noon that day, he asked the assistant to order the fried pork with bamboo shoots from the small kitchen. then ate together with wyb.

22. there is a scene where Lan Wangji needs to carry Wei Wuxian on his back. He tried and was officially filmed after one take. After the filming, the director asked them why they were joking. XZ said he didn’t know how to put his feet after lying down. Lan Wangji didn’t catch it either, both of them laughed.

23. wyb doesn’t eat snacks very much on set, but he does eat director Nie and about xz’s snacks. he said that xz does not eat snacks properly. The most common meal he eats is the fruit salad that xz brought to the set.

24. wyb’s sword tool was thrown around once and fell down. When we got to our feet, xz happened to see it next to him and laughed for a long time.

25. there were several group scenes shot in the suburbs of Hengdian. both guys have lots of mosquito bites. xz told wyb I will teach you how to get better quickly, so he used his fingers to make a cross on wyb’s mosquito bite. wyb’s face was like “you must be lying to me” but he still made a cross on every bite

26. the first time they filmed outdoors, when they talked about what insects there were in the fields, wyb told xz that he was scared of insects, especially those with many tentacles, then he carefully counted every thing that he was scared of.

27. xz likes to scare him with insects, during wyb’s birthday he also scared him with insects

28. once, other actors used a horror video to scare wyb, wyb didn’t know about it and immediately jumped to the side after watching it. xz stood at the side and said “he is really scared, don’t mess with him”

29. the two of them have different make up artists to help them touch up their makeup. You hummed in recognition and nodded. You gave her a loving look of concern and care.

Shane was right. I was about to cry. As soon as I stepped outside the tears started falling. I had planned to go grab some groceries from Pierre’s and visit Robin to ask a few questions about installing barns and whatnot, but instead I just went to Cindersap and wandered around until I could calm down enough to face anyone again.

I wave at him, and wonder — now knowing he’s an elemental — if he can communicate with me.

My pace becomes brisk as I try to make it to Magnus’ tower faster. I’ve gotta tell him and Seb that there’s a slim chance I actually can communicate with animals, even if they can’t communicate back in a way I can understand. 

I wonder if I can learn that. Like, animal-speaking potions or spells have to be a real thing, no?

And, like, with Cannoli, I assumed he could roughly get the gist of whatever I say because out bond. What if I’ve actually been talking to him in a way he can comprehend for months now?

…What if I can, like, translate frogs for Seb someday? 

Oh. 

Oh my fuck—

I feel giddy at the thought and do a little shimmy to work out my energy. I know if I start jogging in lieu that I’ll probably just trip on a fallen branch or acorn or something — the ground is too covered in leaves for me to see what’s beneath them, save for a few long weeds.

I make it to the tower quicker than I’d anticipated. Outside the door I stomp some mud off my boots, and while stepping in, I hear hushed speaking from the main room. I don’t say anything, not wanting to interrupt if something is important going on. Quietly so as to not disturb them, I remove my coat and shoes and pad through the doorway, sipping my sweet drink.

I stop in my tracks and nearly choke on the coffee at the view before me:

Magnus and Seb are facing each other, their bodies parallel to the side walls and nearest the far end of the cauldron. I can see some of Seb’s face and all of Magnus’. 

Seb got his ears pierced! The red studs — I guess they were safe to use, after all — are just barely visible from my view, resting above his gauges. Not sure about the other ear, but he has crossed industrials on this one as well now. 

Now, I can’t tell if his ears are pink from swelling or from blush, but it could be both, given how closely Magnus is observing him. Magnus’ hand is tilting Seb’s face up, and he’s heavily inspecting his piercings with a slight flush on his own cheeks, as well as rosy eyes. Only god knows if it’s because of the contact he’s engaging in, or because of how much cooler Seb looks with his new jewelry.

As Magnus tilts Seb the other way, I’m at first ready to assume that Seb did get a few piercings on his other ear too, until I see Magnus practically cupping the younger man’s face. His lips are slightly curled upward and moving but I can barely hear a word he’s saying. The only sound that registers in my ears is the smooth, bassy reverberation of his baritone voice. A breathy laugh comes from Seb in response. 

My heart stutters at the thought that they’re, like, gonna fucking kiss or something, until Magnus drop’s his hands, crossing them against his ribs. It’s only as Seb mimics the motion that I notice they’re both wearing black sweaters, both with their sleeves rolled to their elbows.

No. Shut up.

I make my presence a little more known as I clear my throat and approach my partners, unable to contain the shit-eating grin plastered on my face. Magnus looks over and smiles wide at my presence, seemingly oblivious to how ~scandalous~ that interaction appeared. Seb turns to do the same, more focused on giving me his own silly, smug look.

Whoa. On the ear opposite from the one I had a slight view of, Seb has a triple helix now, as well as a fucking nose piercing, all alongside his red lobe piercing. I can’t hide how frickin’ stoked I am for these, god he pulls it all off so well!

Ignoring their hellos, I scurry closer, my eyes and smile wide as I place my cup on the counter nearby to take Seb’s face in my hands, basically doing the same thing Magnus just did. 

“Holy shit, dude!”

“You like ‘em?” he laughs.

I reposition Seb so he’s got no choice but to look directly at me. “I feel feral.”

“Oh my,” Magnus laughs while he observes us.

Still holding Seb’s face, I turn to look at and giggle with the elemental. 

Seb brings my attention back by placing a hand on mine and using the other to draw my face to his, dipping down for a quick smooch amidst his smiling. “You’re here early. I just showed up a few minutes ago.”

I nod, pressing my forehead to Seb’s chest and wrapping my arms around him. As he hugs back, I explain, “Rough day.”

Drawing nearer to place a hand against my spine, right above Seb’s hands, Magnus asks, “Did your plans to visit Samson fall through?”

I chuckle, muttering quietly about how formal and old he sounds, and give Seb an extra little squeeze before turning to hug Magnus. “No, I saw him,” I mutter as his arms envelop me. “I, uh,” I press my cheek to Magnus and to get a better view of Seb, “I poured coffee on his boss.”

“What?!” Magnus says, his voice sounding awfully incredulous, albeit amused. The shock is deserved, to be fair. Again. Never really done something like that.

Seb, as I had hoped and predicted, looks so goddamn proud of me. “Deliberately?” I nod. “Holy shit, you badass!”

“Y’know,” I observe, “people keep saying that, but I cried about it the second I stepped out of the store.”

Magnus’ hug tightens so I turn back to him, nuzzling my face into his torso as Seb asks, “Why’d you do it?”

“He was being a dick to Sam,” it’s hard to talk like this so I release myself, standing off to the side to form a little triangle between the three of us, “aaand he scolded me for having my own lil’ treat in the store with me.” I fidget my sleeves while nodding over to the coffee cup on the counter. “That was supposed to be for Sam, I was just holding it for him until Morris left, but…” I shrug.

“Arsehole...”

“Oh yeah,” Seb agrees with Magnus, “the dude sucks. I never really see Sam on the clock anymore just to avoid him.”

“We’ve gotta get him out of there,” I mutter, making my way back to the coffee. I chug the rest before tossing it in the bin nearby. 

In the meantime, Seb counters, “Dude’s stuck. He’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”

“Bummer…”

“Mm,” Magnus simply hums. He barely knows who Sam is, this is probably uncomfy for him.

I meet the taller man’s eyes. “Shrine?”

“Of course.” 

Magnus and I start making our way across the room, but I stop when I notice that Seb isn’t following. I turn around and notice that he already has a book in hand. “You coming?”

“Nah,” he responds, seeming to search for a certain page in particular. “I’ll be fucking with some potions while you do that.”

“Boooo,” I pout. He tosses up a middle finger with a playful glare, and I throw the gesture right back. “If I don’t, like, die, I guess I’ll see you when I’m not a human anymore,” I add on.

“You better not die on me now.”

“No promises!” I announce as I make my way over to Magnus, who’s patiently waiting by the doorway.

His nose scrunches and brows furrow while he grins, as though he’s holding back a laugh, but I don’t mind the scrutiny; I’m too busy admiring the way his crow’s feet deepen, complementing the sparkle in his burgundy eyes.

Maybe it’s the spirits doing their thing again, but I can’t help but notice how happy and full of love I feel with Magnus and Seb around… how happy they seem with me, and even each other.  

Not to be a huge sap or anything, but life is so fucking beautiful, sometimes. 

“You won’t die, my heart,” he reassures me, breaking me from my train of thought.

As we make our way downstairs I ask half-jokingly, freeing myself from my stupor, “So I’ll just be horribly mangled if I don’t do things right?”

“Well…”

I look at Magnus. He’s chewing the inside of his cheek and avoiding my gaze.

Sighing, I nod. “Good to know.”

“You’re an incredible sorceress, dear. You’ll likely be just fine.”

“If I don’t fuck up, sure.” 

“It’ll be alright, I can almost guarantee it.” As we near the shrine, Magnus turns to me and walks backwards for a few steps, “Besides, just think of the results!” 

I experience a fucking war flashback as I remember him having a similar outlook on that potion he made me when we were in our early days of knowing each other. The one that had me keeled over in pain on the ground within seconds. 

“This feels familiar…” I mumble, hoping that the scene is projecting into his mind. Based on his lack of a response as he sifts through a tome, I’m assuming it didn’t work. 

When his attention is back on me, he nears my side, giving me a run-down as he magically highlights certain parts of the page he has open. I cozy myself into his side, nodding along while I try to keep up. Without halting, he wraps his corresponding arm around me, leaning into my touch.

He really is a wonderful teacher, but sometimes he goes so quickly. I get that it’s just the excitement fueling his speed though. More often than not he bears in mind that, although I fucking rock at this, apparently, it’s still kinda new to me.

After asking him to reiterate a few things — including what types of beings I can become with this thing, none of which include things with horns or tails, god damnit! — before I memorize the few lines of spell I’m to perform and step over to the center of the emblem on the floor.

Before I begin, I ask, “Wait, when you use this you like… hover, yeah?” Magnus nods. “Is it okay that I can’t do that? Do you think it’ll effect things?”

He chuckles and shakes his head, “You’ll be fine on your feet. Or your butt, or knees, or whatever you prefer, really.”

“Alright,” I sit on the ground, crossing my legs and resting my antsy hands against my thighs. “Here goes nothing.”

I don’t think I’ll ever feel comfortable reciting incantations in front of people, so I whisper it to myself, as I hear Magnus crossing the room — I assume to sit down and read or something, similarly to how I did during his transformation all that time ago — before patiently waiting for the process to take effect. 

Once I get the ball rolling, everything starts to feel weird. I feel tingly, mana exuding from every pore of my body. I keep my eyes shut so as to concentrate on the image of what I want to become more effectively, but can still see the faint illumination of an arcane light show through my closed lids. 

I’m not sure how much time passes like this. I wind up in sort of a trance-like state at some point; somewhere between being incredibly conscious of the weird sensations coursing through me, and oblivious to the fact that I even exist in my own body. It’s only whenever I stop feeling anything beyond the floor below my ass and my hands on my thighs that I realize the process must be done. 

I open my eyes slowly. They widen as I notice first the change in my clothes, then in skin color. It all looks eerily similar to what I’d racked my brain with, and I guess that’s the point, but it still startles me a bit.

I turn my palms up and around, admiring the dusty pink tint of my skin, and the way it almost shimmers with an otherworldly pearlescence under the dim glow of the basement’s lighting.

I take in the deep obsidian of my new pants — made of something soft and silky, with a high and cinched waist to counter the bagginess everywhere else — as I extend a leg outward, tracing the intricate details of the silver embroidery that climb the outer hems.

My top is also very loose, but tucked into the corset-like belt of my bottoms. It’s black; has a soft, sort of cottony in feel; and it’s void of any detail, aside from the wavy edges of its three-quarter sleeves. 

I reach my hands to my ears, which are now slightly longer and pointy, then slide my digits through my hair, which feels softer than ever. It’s thick, pin-straight, and long, reaching down to my lower back. I bring a section of it over my shoulder, observing the silvery gray it’s become.

My same earrings are in, at least from what I can feel. Similarly, my necklace from Welwick and ring from Magnus are safely on my person.

I didn’t expect the transformation to be this intense — I thought it would just change my colors around a bit, like how it did with Magnus. The clothes were wanted of course, but I didn’t think I could actually change them too. Was just feeling more hopeful about that than anything.

Damn.

I finally look up and to my left in search of Magnus. He’s sitting on the couch, one leg crossed over the other and a tome abandoned next to his lap while he awe-struckedly rakes his eyes up and down my new form, leaning up from his relaxed position.

I shoot him a big grin and his eyes widen a bit, the faint smile he had prior not leaving his face. 

“The fangs were a lovely touch,” he quietly compliments.

Fangs?! “I didn’t even know I did those.” My gaze shifts to nothing in particular while I snarl a bit, tapping my tongue to my teeth. They’re situated like vampire fangs, which is lucky, considering I’m not sure I’d be safe if they’d filled my mouth. These babies are sharp.

I bring my attention back to my partner as he stands, and I meet him halfway. Still the same height as before, which is good. Won’t draw suspicion from anyone who lives around here. 

“Is it normal for the shrine to take creative liberties like that sometimes?”

“Eh,” he shrugs. “This seems to happen more with a user who lacks experience — but if it chooses to trust you, it’ll never be an unwelcome transformation.”

I look back at the thing, shrug, and turn back.

“You’re incredible, (y/n),” Magnus grins, tilting my face up by the chin. “Did you mean to do this with your sclera as well?”

Oh hell yeah, it worked! 

I answer triumphantly, “Damn right, I did.” It makes him giggle. Makes me giggle in turn. “What color are they now?” Did it work how I wanted it to?

Looking more at my eyes than into them, he mutters, “They match your trousers quite nicely,” Fuck yes, “and your irises are lavender.” Not what I was going for, but I’ll take it! “I must say, it’s strange to see you this way, but you’re ethereal nonetheless.”

“Think it’s too much for when I go to the above-ground event?”

He tilts his head and chews the inside of his cheek while he studies me, before ultimately shaking his head. “It simply looks like you’ve a knack for makeup.”

I begin playing with and staring at my new hair again. “Thank god, this is fucking sick.” I look back up at Magnus, fingers still fiddling with my tresses. I purse my lips, swaying a little as I shyly start,  “Do I have to change back to—“

“Yes.”

“Fuck!”

He laughs, holding out a hand for me to take. “I assume you want to present your new form to Sebastian, yes?”

“Hell yeah, let’s go.”

I grab his hand and we make our way out of the room. Gazing at our inhuman skin tones locked together, I begin to feel a little self conscious. I’m probably overthinking, but I can’t stop the feeling from gnawing at me. 

“Uh…” I start, suddenly feeling kinda shy.

Magnus slows down a bit, seeming to sense my worries. That, or he read them already, but he hasn’t said anything so I can only assume he’s trying not to. 

“Do you… ever wish that I was an elemental too?” 

He slows us to a halt and I shift my vision to meet his own. The wizard looks as calm as ever, if not just a little more concerned than usual. “Of course not, my heart,” he turns to face me. “In fact, if you were one, the spirits may have never fated us together in the first place.”

That’s right, he did mention the whole soulmates thing being in favor of an elemental and human pairing. 

I nod, accepting the answer. I still feel a little weird knowing that maybe I’m more (or less, maybe?) attractive this way, but it’s not like I’m a whole new body shape or anything, so I try not to think much of it. There’s no point to it, this is only for special occasions, after all. 

“I love you,” he tacks on cheerily, as if to remind me.

Fucking dork.

“I love you too. Sorry.”

Magnus huffs out a laugh. “Why are you apologizing?!” 

“I dunno!” I join his chuckles, shaking my head. Never claimed that I’m not a dork too. “Just feels childish to ask you stuff like that, now that I’m thinking about it.”

“It’s only natural such an immense change in your appearance would cause some unease.”

“I guess…” 

He does have a point. It’s almost the same feeling as when you don’t wear as much makeup as usual, and someone comments on how sick and tired you look, regardless of your wellbeing; or when you gain or lose a noticeable amount of weight, and people make comments on how much “livelier” or “happier” or “better” you look, regardless of how good the change actually was for your health… 

Except I’m doing it to myself instead, like a dummy. 

And I haven’t even seen myself yet.

Magnus did nothing to indicate if he likes this change more or less than my original appearance. I’m sure Seb won’t either. He’ll probably just be excited to have a temporary elf girlfriend.

They both love me as I am.

I’ve gotta chill.

Ugh.

Okay. I’m good, I think. Enough spiraling.

I look up at Magnus, who’s patiently awaiting my next move. I wonder if he heard me get lost in my head for a moment there. If he did, he doesn’t say anything about it. I offer a soft smile which he reciprocates before giving my hand a squeeze. 

“Are you alright, my heart?”

“Yeah,” I nod, “let’s go.”

When Magnus and I arrive upstairs, we’re hit with a strong smell of marijuana. Seb rarely smokes here. Magnus banned cigarettes — dude hates the smell — but weed is fair game, so Seb brings it out sometimes if he’s extra stressed. Not often, but it does happen.

Must be going through it right now.

Rounding the corner, I see Seb leaning with his palms flat on the nearest countertop, with a tome opened in front of him. Around him are haphazardly placed vials and ingredients. A blunt is lazily hanging from his mouth, and the cauldron is draining behind him, as he mutters the words he reads under his breath with nearly closed lips. 

“You good?” 

Startled, Seb looks up. His eyes widen at my new appearance and the blunt falls from his mouth. He catches it before it can land anywhere though.

“Oof,” I add casually, “Nice save.”

“Nice, uh…” 

He pauses to stare for a moment, leaving the blunt hanging between two fingers like a cigarette. I gnaw my bottom lip and shift around on my feet. His intense scrutiny is flustering me.

“Hah.” Seb rubs his eyes with the digits of his free hand, then keeps them shut with his fingertips against his lids as he continues, “Can’t think of anything witty for a response.” 

His cheeks are obstructed by his large hand, but the tips of his ears are a little pink. I glimpse up at Magnus, who has a faint smile on his lips as he watches Seb’s struggle.

“I didn’t expect this, holy fuck,” the emo speaks up.

“Think it’s too much?” I shyly murmur, using my hair as a fidget again.

“God, no.” He looks up at Magnus. Then at me. Then at Magnus again, and back to me, before putting his attention back onto the book. Through a puff of smoke he mumbles, “I’ve never felt so lame in my life.”

Magnus is quick to try to halt Seb’s negative self-talk with a practical solution. “You’re more than welcome to give the shrine a whirl once you’re ready.”

“Yoba knows how long that’ll take.” Sebastian flicks the page below him. “Can’t even follow the directions laid out in front of me without messing something up.”

I nod towards Seb’s blunt, eyeing it as he puts it back between his lips. “Is that not helping as much as you wanted?” I wonder.

Seb sighs, shaking his head. “Nah, it’s helping plenty. I was ready to tear my fucking hair out before.”

“Is there anything I can assist with?” Magnus interjects.

Another head shake from Seb. “No, I wanna do this on my own.”

“At least allow me to speed this up for you,” the older wizard states more than he asks, heading to the cauldron. 

Seb turns back and nods. “Thanks, dude.” I catch how his eyes rake up and down Magnus’ body before he turns back to me and does the same. “God,” he whispers, his lashes fluttering as he subtly rolls his eyes back. Then, he rummages in the nearby cabinets for some more stuff. 

I snort. “Stressed ‘god,’ or…?” I trail off quietly.

Not sure how keen he is on Magnus knowing what gets him going, regardless of how sexually open we’ve been in conversation.

Seb tilts his head up and deadpans me. I waggle my eyebrows. He gets the gist. He nods.

“Both, then?” I confirm.

He sighs, producing a mortar and pestle. Then, he responds while he places some leaves into the thing and begins grinding ‘em down.

“Both, yeah.”

IT’S CHAPTER 49 META TIME

This was a shorter chapter, only 20 pages, and it starts some action that will hopefully continue into chapter 50. And by “action” I mean yakuza fighting as well as Yashiro and Doumeki touching, because the last few pages of this chapter gave us some delicious water for our very dry crops.

At this point, both groups are looking for Yamakawa, who owes both Sakura of Sanwakai and Yashiro a lot of money, who used Kido as a bait and switch, and who is clearly linked to some big time yakuza. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Big Time Yakuza were Okuyama and the Ryuuzu group, including the remaining members of the Kyouseikai, who Doumeki is currently looking for.

The chapter opens with the fallout from Yashiro choosing Doumeki and throwing Kamiya out on his ass. Muraji is not happy seeing Kamiya return to Tsunakwa’s instead of Doumeki and wants to know why. Kamiya says that it was Yashiro’s request but Tsunakwa doesn’t want Doumeki guarding Yashiro, he wants Doumeki to continue hunting down the remnants of the Kyouseikai (and Doumeki already did a bang up job with that when he rescued Niki so he has experience finding them.) He tells Kamiya to go back and switch places with Doumeki, who is taking on a double workload by doing what Tsunakawa and Yashiro want. While it looks like Doumeki is following Yashiro orders again, he’s really just keeping Yashiro close for three reasons: 1) he wants to know what Yashiro knows. Since both Yashiro and Doumeki are looking for Yamakawa it’s really a race to see who can get to him first, and we all know that Yashiro is really resourceful. Even though he’s not a Full Fledged Yakuza anymore, he’s still getting information ahead of Doumeki. 2) He wants to make sure Yashiro doesn’t cause any trouble for him and get in the way of dealing with Okuyama/Ryuuzu/Kyouseikai because Yashiro can be a loose cannon, and 3) Because HE LOVES HIM. Let’s be real here: Doumeki has been keeping track of Yashiro for FOUR YEARS via Chestnut. He’s never let those feelings go. They might be buried under caution and hurt, but they’re still there.

Also, Tsunakwa (who looks downright delicious in this chapter) is pissed that Okuyama was behind Niki’s kidnapping and wants to take revenge. In talking about it he says “Only a gokudo can reason with a gokudo” And the use of gokudo is another way to say yakuza but it has a more wicked and evil connotation. Basically, Tsunakawa is going to start some serious violence and this is going to a dangerous and evil place. He wants to raze whatever is left of Okuyama and Kyousekai into the ground and he wants Doumeki to help. Unlike Yashiro, Tsunakawa is using Doumeki to the best of his yakuza abilities. Doumeki is strong and shrewd – he always has been – even in this chapter he tells Kamiya that he knows Kamiya has been watching him, spying on him for Tsunakawa (and omg he LOOMS over Kamiya if I was Kamiya my panties would fly right off). That shrewdness was more subdued while he was with Yashiro because he was broken and just starting to heal; plus, Yashiro didn’t nurture those abilities. He spent most of his time trying to get Doumeki OUT of the yakuza but it didn’t stick because as long as Yashiro is around, even brushing against that world by running an underground casino, Doumeki will also remain in that world, watching and waiting.

Let’s talk about how little time has passed between Yashiro and Doumeki seeing each other in chapter 40 and the current chapter. For Yashiro there was four years of nothing and then ALL THIS INTENSITY over the course of what? One or two weeks? All of a sudden Doumeki is back in Yashiro’s life and keeps showing up over and over, taking him away from Inami and making demands on who he spends his free time with. Yashiro hadn’t consciously remembed Doumeki (although so many parts of him did unconsciously – he had dreams, he couldn’t get erections because Doumeki ruined him for all other men, and he felt like something was constantly missing) but once he does really remember, all these feelings are now at the forefront and not only does Yashiro not have the ability to process them well, he also hasn’t been given the time. It’s no wonder that he flip flops on who he wants as a bodyguard and also plays games with Doumeki because teasing and poking fun is how Yashiro deals.

And this struggle is so well portrayed at the end of the chapter. We once again visit the subject of change. Back upstairs in Yashiro’s apartment, Doumeki wants to know what Yashiro will do if he finds Yamakawa first (because finding Yamakawa is really the lead on finding everyone else) and Yashiro says "You were listening, weren't you. It's just a matter of pulling the hairs out of his ass (ketsu no ke)." According to Lyuba on twitter "ketsu no ke" means “pulling ass hairs out, this is an expression that is often used to express stripping someone of all his belongings when he loses in games of chance, that is to say Yashiro means that he wants to take everything”

But Doumeki only hears the literal meaning of the colloquialism and is like UM for a moment, which makes Yashiro laugh and say “you haven’t changed much, have you” meaning that parts of Doumeki are still naïve and innocent. Doumeki replies with “you haven’t changed much either, especially when you laugh like that” and uses ANATA akslaklshlash

Yashiro stops laughing to say “yeah, I haven’t changed at all.” And tbh, this exchange is a bit like old times, very volumes 1 and 2. However, if this were volumes 1 and 2, Yashiro would be doing everything he could to get into bed with Doumeki and sleep with him or sleep on him, but this new subdued Yashiro tells Doumeki that he’s going to sleep on the couch, which Doumeki does not want him to do. Doumeki still cares about Yashiro’s comfort asjlhas and also wants to be in charge aslhalkshs, so he picks Yashiro up bridal style (remember, Yashiro has lost some weight and Doumeki is an enormous brick house so he picks up Yashiro SO easily) and carries him to the bed, gently laying him down. Yashiro has this moment where his face is so vulnerable, where you can see his feelings, all the conflict I just talked about, and Doumeki has a soft expression as well, but Yashiro becomes overwhelmed, scared, and pushes Doumeki away. Undeterred, Doumeki grabs Yashiro’s wrist and pins it over his head AND THAT IS WHERE THE CHAPTER ENDS. *sobs in saezuru*

Yoneda Kou is listed for the next issue so, barring any last minute changes, we should see chapter 50 in November. I am ready!!!!

#48: What’s the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?

Oh, actually, the last fic i read was not one piece! I was feeling nostalgic and who can resist combo grant gustin and wentworth miller? Not me, that's for sure.

Well, truth be told, I was reading two at the same time—Timeless and Love Me, my two absolute favorite fics for this fandom and this pairing <3 i'm not gonna ramble about that since it's less one piece, which is what i'm mostly about these days, so moving on...

I'm doing a lot of zine work! However, there's a couple that i am more than happy to talk about!!

I've got one that's thanks to the optwt4gaza on twitter—a Kaido/Doffy focused fic that takes place pre-canon, though i guess it's a little canon divergent. I do love putting Doffy through all the wringers XD

Another is for my Bad Things Happen Bingo Card! I have a request form live for it rn, and this is (way overdue) the product of one of them! It's for the prompt "hospital stay", and I got a lovely crocorosi prompt from @gendervapor14~

"It was just as well, since moments after he laid back down, there were sounds of chaos just outside his door. Heavy footsteps followed by lighter ones, a protesting voice and snapped retorts, before silence. He couldn’t hear what they were saying, but they spoke in hushed tones, and then the lighter footsteps moved away. A nurse, maybe? But he still didn’t understand what was going on. Everything was made abruptly clear when the door to his room swung open for the second time since he had been conscious. In the doorway stood— “Crocodile?!”  The man stood in the doorway, frozen, more disheveled than Rosinante had ever seen him. Strands of hair fell in disarray around his face, loosened from their usual slicked-back style. His shirt was wrinkled and untucked, his vest didn’t match his pants, and were those—was he wearing mismatched coffee and carob-colored shoes? What the hell?"

This is my favorite bit so far. it just makes me giggle <3

Listen, I've had a Weakness™ for this movie since the dang day I saw it, and that's Pacific Rim. Every fandom i join/read fics for, I search for Pacific Rim aus. I've written a whole bunch but never published them, because i never feel like they're good enough for what i have in mind. They're intoxicating, and yet, an unattainable goal. someday i wanna write a good one that im proud of :)

promo time! I'm gonna go with my one of fav fics I've written so far—Shared Cigarettes. It's based off of two other works that are absolutely gorgeous, so check those out as well if you take a peek <3

It's a corabelle fic! It was a fun lil drabble i used to explore prose, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It does have that "doomed by the narrative" aspect to it, though, so beware XD

#38: Did any of your fics get surprisingly popular (whatever that means to you)? Which ones? Why do you think they were so successful?

yeah, actually! It's this one: Nightmare, which is basically just lil luffy going to Doffy and croc for comfort after he has a nightmare. It got waaaaaay more popular than i ever expected, especially for being so short!! I do love it, and it's one of the earliest OP fics i ever posted, so this really boosts my morale whenever I feel a lil down in the dumps <3

Why did it take until the ripe old age of 49 before I realised I’m worth enjoying my life?

So many firsts!

- purchased a new peg basket! No more gritty paper bags that get replaced every few weeks! And this one hangs over the washing line! ….oh, and I actually have a washing line here!!

- I’ve lined the kitchen drawers and shelves!! Who knew we had the technology to protect and keep clean the bottom of the drawer and shelf!

- i have a pantry, but more than that, a WALK-in Pantry!! Omg the organising that is happening…by usage frequency, followed by usage type!!!

- I have a linen cupboard!!! I no longer have to shove sheets and towels into my wardrobe!! Who knew!!

- I have space in an ensuite for my toiletries!! Instead of storing them in my wardrobe because there’s no room in the bathroom!

I can’t count the number of firsts I’m living through!!!

Ok so this is half mini analysis, and part me just gushing.

Toji is my favorite when it comes to hardass who is soft for his s/o. He’s cold, brash, upfront, defensive, and calculating. It’s easier when I can answer to why they are like that. Which is where we get into character back story.

Toji neglected and beaten by his by his parents wouldn’t have an easy attachment style. Cold, standoffish and crude due to barely being shown a scrap of love had made him a rather heartless man. In reality he would be a walking red flag to stay away from.

It’s the calculating part that majorly comes into play with him being a softie. Chances are when he starts fooling around with someone it’s for two things sex and money. He is aware that being charming, using his good looks and sweet talking is going to help him get his way.

Would likely brush off/ignore most advances towards a romantic relationship, a sexual one would be easier to get with him. Which might lead to a romantic one, if he starts staying afterward because it’s a free place to crash and morning sex

He would crave while also reject softer intimacy. Such as hand holding, cuddling, forehead kisses, hugging you close. It starts off with pulling you in his lap, putting a sexual tone to it makes it feel less vulnerable.

Since I doubt he was valued, or validated emotionally so when he finally gets that from someone who sees toji for toji, flaws and all, he is a bit of a sucker for it. When he drinks a little too much, he opens up about his childhood, and hearing you validate how shitty it was and how he should have been treated better makes his heart beat faster. Has him softening up for the reader.

It helps to think about Toji at all given stages of the relationship within any given fic. From when they met to him falling in love, it would be a process that would take years before the finally said it.

But he would show it in his actions, for being a smooth talker he fumbles when it comes to vulnerable emotions. And with the reader he would be nothing but vulnerable when he is falling for them.

So while he might still sound rough, his sweet actions let you know more about his true intention. But at the same time Toji can't be too mean, otherwise that jumps into abusive territory.

As a calculating man he is very aware of his words and their affect. And once he cares for you, he doesn't want to hurt you. Unless it for kinky fun times. So this is where I head canon him changing small part of himself, this is where the softening begins.

I try to think about it from Toji’s perspective. Abused, neglected, beaten and hated on by most of the people around him. The thrived outta spite and became hard because of it.

Now there is this beauty of a person who is gentle with him, seeing his flaws but accepts him anyway, loves him anyway. Gives him all the patience and understanding he needs, at first its off putting. He isn't used to it, but he kind of likes it.

He would put some space but find himself thinking about the size difference of your hand. The warmth of your smile, the sweet way you say his name, the sparkle in your eyes that reserved for him.

He wants to hold you close, check in on your safety. So he comes back, you don't have questions for where he is been and there is no anger for his absent. Just concern on if he is taking care of himself.

Never having someone give a fuck if he eats, breaths or sleeps would be the norm. So you worrying for his well being is welcomed and addictive so he wants more. It has him coming back for more.

When in a relationship he is loyal, he’s smart and knows that eventually you'll catch him cheating. Every cheater gets caught at some point, so once he has chosen you. You’re his everything

Romantizing the reader through their eyes. Of course they are gonna soften up for you, you’re their everything, the one person who they feel comfortable with, who holds they heart. Toji love sick when it comes to his love, so attached to his partner he is willing to kill for them

They know you like a book and you can read him just as well. He knows he doesn't have to be the most love dovey always. That you understand he is rough around the edges, but love them anyway

Wow well thank you for the long time support! I think the best way I can explain this is I’ve always been this way, I was introduced to alternative fashion and music when I was a kid and was raised around it. I had a point in my life where I started to suppress my interests to please the people I had around me at the time because I was faced with judgement. When I cut out those people and started to surround myself with people that had common interests as me, I felt more comfortable expressing myself and sharing my interests more openly.

I still make playlists regularly, my Spotify @is the same as here, and I have quite a few public lists of varying genres if you want to check them out!

follow-up to my last post— i listened to 15 minutes and 49 seconds before i had to tap out 😭 my initial reaction went from looking like i was actually being electrocuted in real time to looking like a depressed middle aged alcoholic with my ginger ale . ramble under the cut

to try and keep it short.. 1. i love the silly voices he put on even if i wasn't processing any of the words he spoke, 2. i forgot i was listening to Walter's va several times (despite him sounding exactly like him,, i think it was a defense mechanism HWYAHA), and 3. i SO wish majority of the audiobooks on spotify weren't locked behind a paywall. absolutely nothing wrong with him and whoever else chipped in getting their pay, i'm just a little bummed because i can't pay until i get my card back... which is gonna take forever bc these people suck.

i might have to scrounge around the internet and try to find some crumbs for free in the meantime
