First 5k of the year was a success!!! Not my best, but I’m getting better!!! I sadly had to stop to use the restroom, so my time wasn’t as good 🤣🤣🤣 next time I won’t down a whole 24oz of RedBull before the race. But I’m still fast as fuck boiii and getting faster 🏃🏻‍♂️💨🥇☝🏼

My 5k went really well yesterday, even though I crashed into an electric scooter with my bike earlier that day and got bruises on my legs (everyone walked away fine, my bruises were the worst injuries).
I ran the full 5k for the first time in my life which is a major milestone, I also beat my old PR by a couple of seconds.
It felt do great and I had plenty of strength left to make a last push in the final km.
And then I bought a race t-shirt and went home to sign up for a 10k and two more 5ks. Lol.
How soon will I be a marathon runner? By 2026 I hope, but people I asked on reddit said 2025.

Today was a pretty good day. My mom, my brother, and I went to our local Salvation Army to look for treasures. I found some cool LEGO alarm clocks and then I was dropping off at my boyfriend's house. His mom showed me baby pictures of Bugaboo and he was so embarrassed he hid in his room. I shared some of the "embarrassing" photos I had of him with her because I thought it was funny. After that, Bugaboo and I cuddled together and watched Megamind. He seemed a bit clingy today and desperate for attention, but that doesn't really bother me because maybe he was having a day. I then had to leave early because I have a race tomorrow on Thanksgiving Day that me and my grandpa, who is also running the race, had to get our race number for. I saw a kid who goes to my school picking up his number too and we talked briefly. He was gonna run the 1 mile, and I was running the 5k to which his Dad laughed at and told the kid that he should have just ran the 5k anyways since I was running it and I think his girlfriend was running the 5k too. I'm kinda glad he wasn't running it though. He would have made fun of me if I finished after him. The number pick up place provided food and a place to hang out for a while, but me and my grandfather were a bit bored so we left. I'm writing this entry of my journal in the car ride home. I'm so tired and I think I'll go to bed early tonight.

This was the first event I have done with an obstacle course. It was very challenging, yet a great deal of fun. The infield shots were live from the website while Parks staff took the pre race photos. This opens the door to trying different experiences and learning what to work on to become stronger.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “How many miles is a 5K?” you’re in the right place. The exact distance of a 5K race is 3.1 miles. Understanding the distance of different race events is crucial for runners of all levels.

Avoiding Running Again, Starting My New Training Plan Today, Accountability, and Building a Like-Minded Community of Athletes
I'm starting my walk/run program today. Starting goal is to walk/run a 5k trail race. Want to join me in-person or virtually? Email me or hit me up on social and let me know. I want to create a community IRL and virtually of athletes like me!
I’m coming back from a pretty big-for-me injury. I injured my lower back in February 2021. The pain first started with swimming. Then it went away after a few weeks. I thought I’d just thrown my back out from too much stress. Then, in March 2021, I was doing a resistance band workout and my lower back went to the point of pain that I’d never felt before.  Photo by Kindel Media on Pexels.com In…

I didn’t take many pictures but I ran my 5k today!!! I finished with a time of 41:12, and I could have been faster if half of it wasn’t up hill 😭😭😭 but I feel great! And I got another medal for something called the 3 by 5! That’s 3 5k races in a year, and my family and I agreed to go for the 9 by 5 next! If I look exhausted it’s because my race was at 6:10 and I didn’t have any coffee 😅😅 but I love these races!

A fat girl runs a race, Training Block 1
Well, whether I was prepared or not, race day arrived. I gave myself a lot of rest during the beginning of the week, but did a very short run on Wednesday just to see how my legs were feeling.
They felt fine, breathing felt fine, got plenty of sleep and things were staring to look up.
And then Thursday, Sept 1 arrived.
The goal was to beat my old PR of 40min 39s, and preferably get under 40 minutes for the first time ever.
The result:
39.46
In other words:
Tumblr media
I did it!
And I don’t think I had that much more strength in my legs to be honest, so it feels like this PB isn’t going to change for a while. But we’ll see.
We will definitely see.
This ends this training block, the first I did with the help of Trainasone, but I’ll be making a separate post about that and what will come next.

you can tell bug race has become a Tumblr Phenomenon because sprinkled throughout the tag you have people making posts about how their blorbos would’ve voted. it’s like the opposite of breaching containment. the meme has hit the fandom circles.

complaining about people who are wrong on the internet, because i was trying to see how much running people were doing for their first <1:40 half
comments about someone who was 24/male trying to break 1:40:
Honestly, at your age, I didn't have to do anything to run a half under 1:40. Even my friend whose main sport is Judo ran under 1:40.
I didn’t really have to do anything to break 1:40. Just being young and at a decent weight gets you 90% of the way there…
went and checked the results from the half i ran last fall.
overall, 308/2662 (11.6%) of finishers ran under 1:40:00
restricting it to men's 20-29, 101/481 (20.1%) of finishers ran under 1:40:00
sub 1:40 is more than respectable, fuckheads!! you still beat 80% of all men 20-29! that kinda-sorta implies that most men in that age would struggle to run a 1:40!
as far as i can tell, every single soccer player comes out of the woodwork to talk about how they'd never run a day in their life before their first race, they just showed up and did a 90-minute half.
this is of course embarrassing for me&others, because it turns out the soccer players spend more time running than many runners (this is probably how donald thomas's not-yet-teammates felt: some random basketball player at their university turned out to be better at high jump than all the track&field athletes.) but at least i don't pretend i'm not trying really hard.
also extrapolating from how @autogeneity trains, i'm not totally surprised that someone whose primary sport is a form of martial arts could do a 1:40 half. 3 hours of sparring and pushups... i'd die.
