HERE IS A LIST OF THE 30 MAIN KIPO AUs I WANT BUT WILL NEVER HAVE BECAUSE THE FANFIC COMMUNITY IS TINY IN ORDER OF SPOILERINESS (FEWEST SPOILERS FIRST OBVIOUSLY)
1. An AU where Kipo doesn't end up on the surface in the first episode, and has to go through the events with the mega monkey still looking for her
2. An AU in which all of Kipo's people are actually dead, and she's the only survivor. Depression for everyone!!
3. An AU where Margot never betrayed Wolf, and the two have a very close and codependent relationship. Bonus points if Wolf gets kidnapped by Scarlemagne
4. An AU where Wolf's wolf parents never actually betrayed her and raised her alongside the other children. Wolf girl wolf.
5. AU where the protagonists end up separated after Ratland, with Kipo and Benson trying their best to escape Scarlemagne's place without Scarlemagne realizing they're there while Wolf, Mandu, and Dave try to save them
6. AU like #1, except Lio fucking dies and Kipo's body now assumes it is in danger a lot more. So now she's dealing with the mega monkey and turning into the mega jaguar
7. Kipo gets along a little too well with the timbercats, and they kind of adopt her. Parental Yumyan and Molly. They're not surprised to find out she's part cat and teach her how to properly kitty
8. In which Lio turns out to be the mega monkey, somehow.
9. In which Kipo was raised on the surface, and is kind of known as the local feral half cat creature. Naturally, Scarlemagne kidnaps her for weapon usage and oops. Guess he has to teach the feral out of her
10. In which Jamack joins the protagonists (if you didn't think my man would be here you're wrong)
11. Let Kipo get upset about the whole mega jaguar thing PLEASE
12. Song and Lio raise Kipo, while Song is suppressing the mutagen and struggling more and more as she gets older.
13. Song turns out to fill Dr. Emilia's role, and is actually trying to end mutekind.
14. Emilia gets her hands on Kipo, but mistakes her for a normal human (somehow) so Kipo grows up in the science burrow believing mutes killed her parents and that what Emilia is doing is justified. Bonus points if she's Emilia's protege/assistant/intern
15. Emilia gets her hands on Kipo, knowing that she's Song and Lio's daughter, and decides she can use Kipo as a weapon. This would involve a lot of dehumanization and likely good brother Scarlemagne/Hugo. Also Lio? Totally dead
16. AU where Lio manages to yoink Hugo. That's the AU. Hugo and Lio and Kipo as family.
17. AU #16 with angst: Lio gets captured, so it's just Hugo and Kipo. Bonus points if Kipo grows up in Ratland
18. For even more angst, Scarlemagne kidnaps Kipo, raising her in his blooming empire. Except Scarlemagne has no idea how to raise a child, especially not one who's half mega jaguar.
19. Where Mulholland doesn't help Kipo, and Scarlemagne's coronation goes as planned.
20. Where Emilia kidnapping the mutes was a trap, and it works as planned. Kipo is in for such a bad time.
21. Where what Emilia did to the mutes she kidnapped mutes is a lot more horrific than in cannon.
22. WOLF BOTHERS TO REPLACE STALKY
23. Margot changes her mind about betraying Wolf sooner, and Emilia never captures any of the protagonists. Consequently, Emilia sneaks into timbercat village to conduct her evil plans.
24. Instead of Yumyan, Kipo gets hit by the cure. Consequently, the decision is made to have the mega jaguar deal with all subsequent human incidents. This prevents It's a Trap from happening.
25. Kipo gets hit by the cure, except it works. No more mega jaguar, but she gets back to timbercat village.
26. Kipo goes through with sinking the cruise ship. Insert huge crisis (and maybe Song, Lio, or both of them rejecting Kipo/treating her like a monster. Please. I live for angst)
27. AU where Dave kills child Benson, and is a reoccurring side character who's literally just a bastard
28. Fun Gus Monster Emilia. Like just IMAGINE if she took Gus' DNA instead of the mega walrus. Sludge monsters are underrated imo, and she could do so much fucking damage.
29. Emilia gets stuck as a half mute, and gets shoved in prison. Maybe with Hoag.
30. SCARLEMAGNE LIVES

i’m gonna start a comedy career. i’ll start in public “comedy night” type events in pubs and then once i’ve made a name for myself locally begin to branch out, get myself out there a bit. people start talking to their friends and family about this “ComedyHour” kid, “really funny guy” they’ll say. Next thing you know, i’m being invited to actual comedy clubs as a performer: sure maybe not as the headliner mind you, not yet anyway, but nevertheless i’m still the guy people go home talking about. “hilarious” they’ll say, “they were a riot!” soon i’m always the headliner, and even sooner i’m invited to the BIG comedy club’s. At this point i’m meeting and mingling with the big names. I talk loud and laugh louder, people remember my face and when they see me they think “oh my god it’s this guy! i love this guy!” I’m now one of the big names. i begin getting asked onto shows, you know the ones: 8 out of ten cats, taskmaster; you know, THOSE types of shows. i’m everyone’s favourite guest, the most viewed episodes are one’s with me on. Finally I’ve reached the top, i’m invited onto a late night talk show, probably one of the best places for a single person to get all the limelight to talk about anything they want. Jimmy Fallon, Graham Norton, anyone really would do. at this point, i’m so universally liked that this is the most viewed episode of these shows… Ever. record breaking numbers for my show of choice. i’m the headline for that nights show, the idea of having me just come on and say… anything! it’s enough to draw people from all over the world. it’s show night. i’m behind stage as the host calls my name. take a deep breath as i walk on. the crowd cheers as they see me, men and women crying tears of joy. i sit down and the audience calms down. the host lets me begin the discussion…and i just begin to rant like a complete lunatic.
“the moon is made of rhubarb and custard”
“the government spy on us through our toothbrushes”
“The name ‘American Football’ makes complete sense despite minimal Foot on Ball action!”
I’d say anything to show I’d lost it!
At first people laugh as they think it’s another of my wacky japes… but as the dust settles and the millions of people watching begin to realise i seem genuinely believe these things they begin to become upset, panic even! “Oh no! what’s wrong with them!” the host will try and keep order but i’ll start angrily cussing him out. security will be called on me. as they drag me out i’ll begin speaking gibberish,as if possessed. i’ll be mentally evaluated - they’ll say i’ve gone insane. i’ll be institutionalised. meanwhile there’ll be riots on the outside, so much violence and blood, children weeping, families pulling each other apart! i was meant to be the best of us, the person who everyone could rely on to make the day a little brighter; without me, everything just seems so bleak. as the years go by i wont say a word, wont show any signs of improving. the world will begin to forget about me, about the power i had over people. 30 years since the incident, i overhear a conversation outside my padded cell. “Who’s this?” says an unfamiliar voice.
The world has forgotten about me. I smile. This was my plan all along. To have the world hang on my every word, then cause people to tear each other apart, and disappear without a trace. Because the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he never existed.

Lowder Reviews: Yo-Kai Watch (2014) Episodes 1-3
I'm gonna taking a look at the first anime of Yo-Kai Watch but I'm gonna be watching the Japanese version instead of the English dub to see what is different. Warning: So for the first episode I'm gonna make my own summary but for all the others it's gonna be how the wiki describes the story of these episodes because it's probably gonna be hard for me to describe these episodes without missing important details. Warning: Opinions below.
Episode 1: "Yo-Kai are Real" and "The Spooky Intersection"
Plot summary: Nathan Adams(Keita Amano) encounters Whisper, a self-proclaimed "Yo-kai Butler", when he is catching stag beetles with friends. Whisper later gives Nate a watch that enables him to see Yo-kai when his parents are fighting over who ate the last treat and sees the Yo-kai, Dismarelda(Donyorinu)(a Yo-kai that causes the mood to be darken due to its gloomy aura), due to her husband not loving her but, eventually, her husband, Happiere(Honobono), appears and tells her how much he loves her, which causes the atmosphere Nate's parents to stop fighting. Nate finds unusual events happening at a crosswalk, and ends up meeting Jibanyan, a cat that had an owner but was runover by a truck, and Nate befriends the Yo-kai and gets a Yo-kai medal, a device that is a sign of friendship that allows someone with the Yo-kai Watch to summon Yo-kai by inserting it into the clock face of the watch.
My Thoughts: It was a good way to start the series because it served as an introduction to our main characters, it introduced characters that would appear again, it introduced us to what Yo-kai are and what they do. The faults of it were mostly things that would probably won't be seen again like Whisper's ability to summon bugs or him being able to think it's the work of Yo-Kai instead of refusing to believe it is. So in conclusion, it was a great to start a series that would last 4 years.
Rating:8/10
Episode 2: "The One In The Water", "Why Did You Say That?", and "Katie's Secret"
Plot Summary:
The One In The Water:
Whisper attempts to teach Nate more about various Yo-kai at a nearby aqueduct. He mentions the mythical Kappa, which Nate recognizes as a famous Yo-kai. While this is happening, Walkappa walks by and, realizing that Whisper and Nate are talking about him, tries to get their attention. At Whisper's suggestion, Nate scans the water and finds an upturned, chipped plate, which Whisper claims is the top of a Kappa's head. Just then, a passing delivery boy retrieves the dish, which turns out to be a normal plate. Whisper and Nate discuss this just as the delivery boy trips, causing the plate to fall on his head, making him resemble a Kappa. Whisper, Nate and the delivery boy laugh off the incident as Walkappa gives up in frustration.
Why Did You Say That:
Nate stealthily makes his way to the boys' room as class break begins. After dropping a deuce, he breathes a sigh of relief as he exits the facility. Katie happens to be passing by and notices the stench exuding from the restroom, immediately recognizing it was caused by Nate's fecal matter. She then confronts him in the classroom, flagrantly describing the vile smell his bowels were capable of producing to their friends. Nate is desolated, adorning a pale face that persists even after school.
As school ends, Whisper concludes that only a Yo-kai would make Katie do something like this. Nate confirms Whisper's suspicion when he uses his watch and reveals Tattletell hanging on Katie's face. He then confronts Katie, but is soon dealt another blow when she blurts out about his big stinky poo to her two friends. Nate is devastated once again but manages to compose himself and focus his attention on the Yo-kai. Tattletell then leaps from Katie and hightails it down the road. During the chase, Tattletell attaches herself to several people revealing their unfortunate secrets: a barber butchering a kid's hair, a woman's dislike for her date, and a thief's confession of larceny.
Tattletell gets cornered by Whisper and Nate, and soon Jibanyan is summoned to face her. However, Jibanyan is reluctant to cooperate because he was training against trucks just before. Jibanyan eventually gives in and attacks Tattletell with Paws of Fury, but Tattletell dodges all his punches and attaches herself to him instead! His face turns blue as he reveals his deep love for Next Harmeowny, a girl band whose posters adorn his entire room. Jibanyan hopes his friends will forget his secret, but discovers them talking behind his back which causes him to sob and flee.
Tattletell jumps around with glee as she makes her way to the park. Nate follows behind, and Whisper suggests he summon another Yo-kai for assistance. Nate calls upon Happierre, but surprisingly cannot reach him because he is vacationing in Hawaii with his wife. Nate then pulls Walkappa's medal out of his pocket. Whisper asks when he had received this medal, but Nate responds that it is not important. After arriving and exchanging pleasantries, Walkappa finds himself in the same situation as the others: Tattletell makes him tell his secrets. However, Walkappa's dull secrets prove unsatisfactory to Tattletell, who faints in an effort to get juicier information from the kappa. Nate then befriends Tattletell and thanks Walkappa as the tale ends.
My Thoughts: This episode was a nice way to introduce us to myths and legend being used as a Yo-kai is a good idea that works for a serious like this but the flaws of this episodes were mostly when it came to the jokes but you can still find something to enjoy from enjoy.
My Rating:7/10
Episode 3: "The Rare One", "Yo-Kai Manjimutt", "Here Comes Roughraff", and "Manjimutt Part 2"
Plot Summary:
The Rare One:
As Nate watches television, his mother comes in dressed in conspicuous clothing. She sheds them to reveal that she had done so because she had just bought a whoopie pie from Banter Bakery, which Nate says that bakery has the chef being noted as an absolute perfectionist with his crafts, selling none that's no less than perfect. The reason Nate's mother got one was because she stood in line for a long time, then praised his mom for her commitment.
After he happily eats the food his mother got him, Whisper mentions the occurrence of rare Yo-kai, though resorts to his pad when asked by Nate. He eventually pulls out info on the Noko, a snake-like Yo-kai noted for its jumping prowess. When Whisper turns away to fiddle with his pad, a Noko appears behind Whisper in view of Nate, vanishing as soon as Whisper turns around to look at Nate. Once his back was turned, the Noko reappears, only this time, another one accompanies it.
While Whisper keeps looking away back-and-forth, several more Noko appear until Whisper explodes in irritation, sending all the Noko in the room flying. Ignoring some Noko that bounced off of him, Whisper continues his point of the rarity of the Noko, despite the fact a Noko just replaced itself with his pad. Afterwards, A Noko offers a Yo-kai Medal to Nate, unsuspecting of Whisper.
Yo-Kai Manjimutt:
After being annoyed by Whisper's sleeping habits at home and on the way to school, Eddie tells Nate and Bear that there is a rumor going around which is of a "human-faced dog" that resides in Springdale. After Eddie shows a photo of what it looks like, Nate and Bear doesn't believe at first but Katie steps in to say that she has seen it last night.
Katie saw it while she was coming home from school during an evening, whereas she mistakened it for a lost puppy but screamed in fear when it looked at her. While this gets the others scared, Katie said that she didn't get a good enough look at it, but knew it was no ordinary dog. From Katie's explanation, Nate thought to himself that it may she may have seen a Yo-kai.
Later on in the evening, Nate goes on to fearlessly find the human-faced dog. Whisper assumes that he's acting this way because he wants to save Katie from the human-faced dog, to the point of even impersonating a possible outcome between the two. Whisper warns him to be more careful because Katie saw the human-faced dog without a Yo-kai Watch and says that it's rumored to be powerful and can turn anyone into them when it bites an unsuspecting human.
They both notice a regular dog walking down the street, which turns out to be the human-faced dog they were looking for all this time, who introduces himself as Yo-kai Manjimutt. At first, they're unsettled by his appearance, but he turns out to be gentle, yet depressed about being a human-faced dog. Nate asks it's because of how he's scary-looking he is.
Nate's reasoning makes Manjimutt feel even more depressed, leaving him to sit in a corner but Nate asks him why he's feeling that way. At first, he disapproves Nate of still calling him a "human-faced dog", which makes him feel sad about his appearance but after that, Manjimutt goes on to tell his story.
Afterwards, Manjimutt goes to an oden stand where he orders a drink and urges Nate to sit with him. After ordering some drinks for the others, Nate notices that the man running the stand could see him further revealing that everyone else can normally see him. After they drank some of their beverage, Manjimutt tells Nate and Whisper about how he became a Yo-kai.
Manjimutt was originally an average business man that one day lost his job due to his business having budget cuts. He was so depressed that he ended up drinking at the oden stand, feeling too embarrassed to face his wife anymore in the process. On the same night, he mindlessly danced around in the streets (getting drunk in the original) and carelessely crashes into the pile of wooden boards while a toy poodle was in sight, turning him into Yo-kai Manjimutt.
Despite Manjimutt being turned into a Yo-kai, he thought of it as a good thing and liked his new look, hoping he would gain traction with people who likes dogs, but everyone thought of him as scary, except for the man running the oden stand, making Manjimutt feel extremely depressed about himself. Manjimutt wanders off to another area in sadness, only for two policemen find and arrest him.
Nate and Whisper find Manjimutt being arrested by the police and hurriedly hands him his Yo-kai Medal before he gets handcuffed and escorted into the police car, where Nate blankly accepts it into his collection.
Here Comes Roughraff:
During a school cleanup session, Bear runs to Nate and tells him about Eddie's unusual change in behavior. Eddie is shown as rebellious-looking than usual with his underpants and socks more visible, and plays pranks on the teachers, leading Nate to think that a Yo-kai is on the loose. Nate and Whisper follow Eddie around outside of school who keeps acting this way, leading him to use the Yo-kai Watch and find Yo-kai Roughraff.
Whisper explains about Roughraff's inspiriting effects whom causes innocent children to enter a stage of rebellion, sporting a meaner look and attitude which makes Nate worried even more about Eddie. Roughraff runs away from Nate, but Eddie is still acting rebellious with Whisper explaining that Roughraff must be defeated to end the effects of Eddie's inspirit.
Nate and Whisper chase down Roughraff, who runs away like a motorcycle until they eventually stop near a riverbank, leaving Roughraff has no other choice but to fight him. Nate summons Jibanyan to use as combat, but Jibanyan is startled and nervous by Roughraff's appearance. Roughraff jumps while Jibanyan tries to attack, but he lands on Jibanyan and causes the two to be fused into Baddinyan.
The unexpected occurrence surprises Nate and Whisper, scaring that Jibanyan has turned towards a stage of rebellion. Despite their warnings, they cringe at his bad habits such as eating two Chocobars in one go and before dinner, and in bed while not caring to clean up the wrappers, and not bothering to clean his teeth or wash his hands after eating.
Fearing they have no other options, Nate summons Manjimutt who surprisingly has his prison bars and toilet brought along with him. Whisper uses his swirl to break open the lock, while Nate orders Manjimutt to fight off Roughraff, resulting in him being scared to do so. Nate motivates Manjimutt to talk Roughraff out of the problem, which gets him to do it, but is suddenly punched in the face.
Manjimutt eventually retaliates, by getting back up and both fight against each other while they make insults for a long time before they both eventually stop. They laugh off their actions and unexpectedly form a friendship with each other. It was until the next day that Eddie went back to normal and Manjimutt was sent back to jail.
Manjimutt: Part 2
After the events of the previous segment, Manjimutt is given some dinner in his jail cell and hopes he will get out while the police officer hopes that he has learned his lesson. While Manjimutt contemplates, he notices the police officer reading the newspaper containing a career for a hair stylist, and hopes to get a job when Manjimutt is released.
My Thoughts: It was an interesting to see how rare Yo-kai can be, how some can be seen by people, and some that have antagonistic traits that allow them to show how different they are. The faults of the episodes are more so the jokes than the episode itself.
My Rating:7/10
Alright, so that's it for this review and next we will be taking a look at the first two episodes of 50+ year-old franchise. So next time, join me when I review episode 1 and 2 of Kamen Rider(1971).

DNP Rewatch: A Festive Day in the Life of Dan and Phil!
Tumblr media
Date video was published: 12/20/2014 (X)
DNP Main Channel Rewatch: 254
The 2014 DITL video! The last one had been back in August 2013. This is my absolute favorite DITL and probably one of my top five DNP joint videos of all time. Get ready for me to have way too much to say about it.
0:00 - sleepy morning + quiff Phil! We’ll see a surprising amount of that in this video.
0:05 - “almost a week till Christmas,” so they must have filmed this just a few days before it was posted
0:25 - no waking up Dan in “his” bedroom like in the first two DITL. Hmmm...this scene doesn’t seem staged at all...especially since Phil’s laptop is already open on the arm of the sofa. Unless he just left it like that overnight.
Tumblr media
0:37 - love that the other advent calendar on the mantle in the one they made. 😂 There are 18 of the doors opened on it, so they’re probably filming this on the the 18th or 19th of December.
0:47 - they both jump into doing the theme music as soon as Phil says “titan”
0:57 - that is pretty late for them to be putting up the decorations! Phil looks sad about it too.
1:01 - sad tinsel. I think Phil had the silver piece in the background in his last video. And the little WALLE in the background here, from all the way back in PINOF. 🥺
1:17 - this domestic insight, just 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
1:26 - full circle back to the first DITL video. I wonder if they watched the previous DITLs before filming this one.
1:41 - so many mugs.
1:48 - Dan did not want that one because it was very hard to actually drink out of as he discovered in DITL London. I really bet they did watch the previous ones shortly before this...so many references back!
1:55 - awww, happy warm Phil
Tumblr media
2:13 - such a dramatic sigh but he goes to get it anyway!
2:25 - well that is a terrifying way to burn a tealight...put it on a dish!
2:33 - I love that there is no explanation for this in the video. Phil is superstitious about new shoes on the table, which they had both tweeted about before.
2:40 - Dan fashion show and an encouraging Phil
2:47 - immediate smile when Dan notices Phil there
Tumblr media
2:56 - why does Phil looks SO GOOD in this clip. also, as usual a weird/slightly horrifying poem from his brain.
3:02 - love that they both decided to wear holiday jumpers. They also wore these same ones for their December radio show. Also the Dan lean-in 🥺
Tumblr media
3:12 - PJ tweeted about this DNP visit!
3:27 - this whole leaving scene is possibly the most domestic part of any video - the candle argument, the coat adjustment, the stop in the bathroom to check their hair, Phil checking to make sure Dan has keys, the spider checking and joking... I mean.
4:13 - more throwback conversation to DITL London
4:35 - so glad he chose not to lick his hand. Even more horrifying in 2021.
4:40 - Dan talked about this and falling up the escalator in What not to do on Public Transport
5:00 - “bit corporate isn’t it?” but caves immediately because Phil wants to.
5:10 -  Love that Phil orders while Dan finds a table. Love that Phil makes Dan draw something happy not just a sad face. Love Dan’s huge smile after that.
5:33 - Dan really can’t say much he was reading his phone in the clip right before this!
Tumblr media
5:58 - Dan’s talking about this weird incident that Phil posted a clip of on LessAmazingPhil
6:18 - they always go to at least one nerdy shop in the first DITLs!
6:36 - the things they choose to zoom in on in this shop...Dan with Spiderman’s crotch a few seconds before this and now Phil on the shirtless guy book cover. subtle, lol.
7:29 - I had actually heard of this board game prior to this video because Wil Wheaton did a TableTop episode. I remember being so surprised to see DNP wanting it!
7:39 - Phil and his weird people encounters. 😂 And Dan just mocking him for it.
7:59 - they did, in fact, go to see Matilda the next summer.
8:10 - oh my god this clock scene. Of course Phil wants to make a game of it. And then Dan with the seemingly slight fudging of what he was pointing at. And this look and then both of them giggling. 👀
Tumblr media
8:32 - that start of Dan’s running! This is around the time or shortly after he had started to see a therapist (according to the timeline he gave in Daniel and Depression), so thinking he probably wanted to start for his mental health.
9:11 - Dan talks about the “guy wearing the white sheet in Manchester” in What not to do In Town. Their reminiscing faces are too much.
9:19 - Phil is so excited about this. He had tweeted a couple times in the past about Moomins (1, 2)
9:37 - the excitement about the treats and the festive drinks and decorations and Phil’s teasing 😭
10:04 - they film fairly often in the back of cars and I just feel like must be so awkward, but it doesn’t seem to bother them. And Phil’s hair is quiffed again!
10:28 - and the stairs song! Which they are too prepared for so it must be a regular thing they say/sing. This video has SO MANY moments that I love.
10:51 - Phil just sitting while Dan hauls the tree box out. Maybe Dan lost rock-paper-scissors.
Tumblr media
10:59 - reminiscing about THE TREE now, which is the last time they decorated on camera
11:09 - why is this a common theme in DITLs!? lol. Love that they’ve lit the candle again after getting home.
11:22 - “stop doing that” as he can’t control his giggles. sure.
12:03 - okay, Phil had to go get the other decorations! The “Christmas faces” are slightly horrifying
12:22 - that is the most horrifying. also, Dan and Phil themed toys/decor even in the bathroom.
13:02 - Dan’s little messed up piece of hair in the back is so cute. Also love that they have the garlands up and everything at this point too.
Tumblr media
13:19 - even more quiff-Phil!
13:31 - their fridge contents are not great
14:04 - unexpected filming but a huge grin anyway from Phil. Also, how do they make just answering the door so awkward, lol. Also: what is that picture in the background in the bathroom(?)
Tumblr media
14:32 - they’re so excited about this set up and dinner plan
14:43 - and now glasses Phil! Also, arguing about wrapping neatness. I love it. Although when we see Phil’s wrapping in a minute, I think I might agree with Dan...
15:03 - PJ will end up with one of these face banks
15:10 - Phil came up with some decent gifts for Kath this time, although he didn’t think she had good ideas.
15:18 - I find it so cute that Dan wants to keep the cookbook
15:30 - Dan looks almost embarrassed to share this. He’s also got something “12 Days of Christmas” themed in that blue box on the chair. Although apparently a lot of his family just wanted money.
Tumblr media
15:37 - I have no words for Dan filming this closeup and then them choosing to keep it in the video.
16:16 - Phil’s trying to be all serious with his wrapping tutorial and then the tape just immediately falls. 😂
Tumblr media
16:40 - “it’s endearing” Dan does look pretty endeared, lol. Dan’s concerned because the face banks are actually gifts from both of them, at least according to PJ
17:04 - wow, Vine mention
17:25 - Dan’s just expecting Phil to come up with a great pun on the spot. Also, the lobster thing is an old reference.
17:39 - I think I mentioned this in the last DITL post, but I like that we do see even in a short video that they spend some time alone. That’s just so normal, especially for introverts even when you’re that comfortable with someone.
17:45 - Phil will keep reading that book over the holidays
17:48 - we did see the inside of the chest. So what is Dan implying here, lol.
17:52 - well then. Dan’s giggly face though.
Tumblr media
18:08 - soft piano Dan 😭
18:25 - Ariana Grande had sent them both cat ears after they met her for the radio show
18:37 - a glimpse at the early gaming channel set-up.
18:46 - we don’t actually see that footage in the gaming video
18:51 - it must be pretty late at night by this point considering it was dark when they came home
19:15 - Phil’s first instinct is to throw it of course
19:18 - this face and the sweater paws. I can’t. 😭
Tumblr media
19:25 - and of course a joint ending.
19:40 - Dan is so sleepy and happy seeming here
Tumblr media
20:13 - awwww 🥺 The last video of 2014!
One difference from the first two DITL is they don’t even pretend that they’re going to see other friends/invite someone over. Just the two of them hanging out and they seem quite happy with that. This is probably the most “domestic” of the DITL videos. I love it so much.
Phil went to his parents’ on the 23rd to celebrate Christmas. He had Swedish food, was very excited as usual, got a stocking with a toothbrush and animal socks, and watched Guardians of the Galaxy. Dan went to his family’s on the evening of the 24th after a candle incident (lol, though I love that he was burning the candles even without Phil there. He started the tradition of yearly Christmas pictures of Colin. And also posted this.
On to the 2015 videos, and the start of the TABINOF/TATINOF era!

Ohhh my GOD this part. I remember the first time I watched it I had to pause to blink through my tears ╥﹏╥ It’s been years since I watched this episode in full but I still remember the satisfaction of finally seeing people who were willing to take Natsume in. The Fujiwaras don’t think of him as a burden, they love and care for him like their real son... *ugly crying* He looks so genuinely relieved and happy in this moment too (I wish he could be like that all the time) Anyway this series defined found family for me <3

Ah yes, the sequel to the episode above... and where my favourite smiling Natsume comes from. It was quite hard to narrow it down to this one, but I think it’s a good choice!! He looks so precious here <333 Touko and Shigeru’s lives were really brightened up when they adopted Natsume. One of the first things he asked for was to keep Nyanko-Sensei, and when they let him, he smiles like this ;; It goes to show how accepting the Fujiwaras are of him. When you compare this moment to more present-day episodes, you can really see how much Natsume has settled in. He’s more comfortable confiding in his family and friends now. He’s still a bit tentative, but it’s a process! And this picture represents the start of that process to me :’)

COUNTDOWN ANALYSIS DAY 1 OF 8: TULIP
Tumblr media
we’re almost there folks! we’ve hung tight for a good couple of months during the wait ‘til book 4, and we’re almost a week away! i thought i’d do a recap of what we’ve seen so far, focusing on analyzing the protagonists of each book and what it can teach us about narrative structure and storytelling. note these analysis are my personal thoughts and opinions, and i’m not stating them as objective fact.
today we start with the Perennial Child: Tulip Olsen.
Problems. Every passenger has a problem. Tulip’s in particular is her failure to look beyond her narrow worldview, leading to making poor decisions, getting stuck, and reluctance to accept help from anyone. The way her journey is approached within the narrative structure of the show sets up a sort of three-part act that shows us how to characterize a complex psychological problem starting from the outside in.
->Act One: The Distress Call
Tumblr media
The distress call is what I’d like to consider the point at which any one passenger’s specific problem has become so prevalent that the train has to interfere, before they hit their ‘Point of No Return’. However, the distress call is not the problem itself, and is meant to say something deeper about what the passenger is dealing with.
Tulip attempting to run away and make it to her camp as planned is indicative of her reluctance to accept the reasoning behind other peoples’ actions; In her mind, she’s supposed to be at camp, and if her parents understood that, she’d be on her way already. Her decision to try and make it by foot in the snow... Intrigues me. You would think that Tulip knows this ‘solution’ is bound to fail at best and deadly at worst, and I think she does. This is the beginning of a clear pattern; an inability to ask for help and let someone else’s worldview into her mind. When children do drastic things, it’s more often than not an indirect way to ask for help, and I think her mindset here is, ‘My mom will know I’m missing, and she will come and get me, and then I can get to Oshkosh.’
This is the ‘surface layer’ of her characterization. The show starts by showing you the most drastic manifestation of her deeper psychological problems to show you the most essential parts of her character, so as you head deeper into her mind, you begin to understand her initial decision just a bit more.
-> The Inciting Incident
Tumblr media
A little bit into the story, the show doubles back and shows us what brought Tulip to the point of her distress call in the first place. The Inciting Incident is what brings someone’s tendencies to the surface as their problem begins to fester.
Tulip’s Inciting Incident, as we’re shown, is her parents’ divorce. In the Cat’s Car, we see her push aside both her own feelings and her parents’ reasoning for the divorce to accept some easier-to-digest ‘reality’. This is not how her family is ‘supposed’ to be in her mind. This incident is so distressing to her, that she arranged her memories to fit in with the idea that things were ‘perfect’ before her parents decided to ‘change everything’. That makes logical sense, right? If something big hurts you, that must mean had it never happened, you would have been just fine.
This is the second layer of characterization; The justification for her running away and a reinforcement of the flaws she’s shown in the episodes leading up to this. However, this is still NOT her ‘problem’. She might think it is, and the audience might think so as well, until it’s all brought together in...
-> The Revelation
Tumblr media
The Revelation is the point at which the story asks you (and Tulip) to look beyond the Inciting Incident, and lays her problem out in the most clear terms it can.
What better way to learn the limitations of her worldview than through her own reflection? In the Chrome Car, she’s confronted with someone who has completely separate views and opinions from her, despite having lived the same life; Lake knows Tulip better than anyone else. Through Lake, she’s offered the opinion of an outsider that she can’t deny, and has to come to terms with the fact that the most logical option (getting her reflection back where she’s supposed to go) isn’t the best option (it would deeply wound another person). Since Tulip can’t claim that Lake doesn’t understand the situation the way she does, she has to admit here that she’s wrong and do what might seem impossible; Free her own reflection.
This isn’t the end of her character arc; Rather, it’s what allows her to finish her character arc. Without the Revelation, I have every reason to believe Tulip might not have been as understanding when entering Amelia’s tape. If Tulip had not been confronted with the fact that her worldview isn’t objectively correct, would she have had the talk during their fight that shifts Amelia’s worldview?
tldr;
Tulip is a great example of how to approach a character’s deeper flaws from the outside in by first showing you their most drastic action, then the reason it happened, and then the root of the problem that lies underneath it all. Through this three-part approach to uncovering a passenger’s problem, the culmination of Tulip’s arc feels natural and impactful.

Doors of perception
Episode 3 - Home sweet home
Tumblr media
He had hoped the road trip would give them plenty of time to discuss and catch up. But that wasn’t really the case. He had stopped on his way to the highway at the nearest MacDonalds and the order he had placed would have been enough for a junior baseball team. Several burgers, wraps, fries and even a salad… but more for Natasha than for himself. Also, half a dozen bottles of water and some energy drinks. And of course, the biggest cup of coffee they had on the menu.
Since the drive back to NYC would take about 8 hours, he didn't want to waste time, so he ate while he drove. She sat and ate in the passenger’s seat beside him, and they talked a little in between. But after eating she got tired really quick, so she moved to the backseat, curled her body together like a cat and fell asleep almost immediately. He couldn’t blame her. After all he had heard from her so far, she hadn’t had any rest in days and no real stressless time since the Ultron incident.
He had found out that her world and his had been pretty much the same till Ultron showed up. But while they had managed to claim the cradle and turn the body inside into Vision, Ultron had succeeded in her world. After that he had killed Thanos and claimed all the Infinity Stones. And that had led to the end of the world. Who would have thought that Thanos' plan to kill half the Universe was the smaller evil? Because Ultron didn’t stop at the half. He wanted it all.
He hadn’t told her much about this world so far. She was exhausted so he wanted to wait a bit till she was more clear and could take it. After all, it was a really big chunk to swallow.
Now he can slowly sense how his muscles go sore from the long drive without any pause and since the sun went down also his eyes become more and more tired. Time for a little break. He turns to the next gas station. The tank has to be refilled anyway. And it gives him the opportunity to buy a new cup of coffee. The energy drinks are just much too sweet and only a poor substitute.
He takes a bit longer than necessary to get back to the car and stretches his limbs on his way. The cold night air clears his head and fills his lungs with fresh oxygen. When he gets back to the car, she’s in the passenger's seat. He hands her the cup of tea he had ordered for her… just because he knows that Natasha mostly prefered tea over coffee. Out of habit so to call. He doesn’t know if THIS Natasha prefers it too. Maybe she would have wanted a hot chocolate. Or a latte. Or no hot beverage at all.
But she smiles at him and takes it with thanks. So hopefully he made the right call.

Episode 8 is one hella packed episode and it is an absolute joy to unpack it, beginning with this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clever, clever idea to have Ji-Woo repeat the line that Mi-Joo just said to indicate Ji-Woo is taking charge of things as far as Assemblyman Ki is concerned. It's also a good reminder of how tone and intent can change the meaning of a sentence even if the words are exactly the same (which is why we need good translators).
Seeing Mi-Joo stride across the screen with Seon-Gyeom behind her, it struck me that we've seen a variation of this many times before, beginning with the credit titles. While Seon-Gyeom is the sprinter, the one we see constantly trying to up the pace and charge ahead is Mi-Joo. She's always intent on moving ahead faster — perhaps to outrun the past that she finally makes peace with during the marathon? — while Seon-Gyeom moves at a slower pace, disentangling himself from the constraints of his troubled past and troubling father. The only one time we see him race ahead (in episode 2), we also see him come back and slow down.
What I particularly love about Park Shi-Hyun's writing is that in addition to all the layers and complexity she's written into the scenes and characters, she's also written a very, very funny show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Shin Se-Kyung and Kang Tae-Oh do such a fantastic job with both the physical humour (without being over-the-top) and the timing that's needed to play up the wit in the dialogues. Not that Siwan and Soo-Young do a bad job the scene in which Dan-Ah proposes to Seon-Gyeom is hilarious. My favourite is still May, who is very funny throughout this episode (the shot in which we learn she sleeps with her eyes open! GOLD).
The transitions in this episode are so well written. The insights from one scene ricochet off the next. For example, Dan-Ah in the scene at the bar — where she tells the bartender she can't risk keeping the book in her own study because she can't risk people guessing she has anxieties — gives us a look at the problems of the privileged. This is followed by a scene in which Yeong-Hwa and Mi-Joo discuss student debts, which is a relatable middle-class problem. This in turn is followed by Tae-Woong saying that he takes selfies because he's addicted to the validation he gets from the likes each of those photos gets him — a Gen Z problem. And so it is that we get a spectrum of problems that people face and hide behind performative façades.
The likes that Tae-Woong talks about pop up with manic frenzy at the end of the heartbreaking scene with Dan-Ah in the parking lot, presenting the viewer with a terrible contrast — driving away from him is the love and acceptance that he yearns for from a sister who (he hopes) knows him. All he has to hold on to is the superficial attention of the love professed by a fandom that doesn't really know him at all. Soo-Young's performance is fantastic in this scene, especially when she asks in a voice tinged with desperation why Tae-Woong keeps coming back to her despite her treating him so badly. For the first time, you realise how much it takes out of her to lash out at this desperately-sad boy. "It takes effort to hate someone," Tae-Woong tells her. My heart!
Another fantastic set of transitions comes later on in the episode, when Mi-Joo and May are unwinding at the end of a long day at the film shoot.
Tumblr media
This is such a great example of writing inter-generational female friendships. When May remembers not being paid for working overtime, it's an acknowledgement that things are better for working women (especially in film) than it was before, but as Mi-Joo's experiences show, there's still a lot to be done because women are still driven by a certain insecurity and anxiety to push themselves way too hard (as we see a sick Mi-Joo do later in the episode).
Of course a man tries to break this gathering up — because he wants to go to bed. Superb excuse, particularly because these women are talking how much they have to work — and it is deeply satisfying to watch all three of them shut him down and establish their right to unwind.
This scene of female friendship is followed by one that shows the friendship between the three runners. Then we get to see a fight scene full of male actors. The machismo of that performance is a sharp contrast to the awkward tenderness of Woo-Sik and Yeong-Il's conversation.
While on the subject of toxic masculinity, this is the episode in which we find out Dan-Ah's father forged Myeong-Min's birth certificate to make him legally older than Dan-Ah even though he's actually 10 months younger than her. All to ensure he has a male heir. It's a nice detail that Myeong-Min's mother is the one laying out the memorial service for Dan-Ah's mother because it hints at a sense of solidarity.
Also dismantling traditional notions of masculinity is Seon-Gyeom, whom we see at his most domestic as he cooks and packs meals for May and Mi-Joo, and does chores around the house once they're gone. It's very much an inversion of the standard male-female gender roles with the woman going out to work and the man as the homemaker. To underscore this point, we see Seon-Gyeom consider the leopard-print shirt (that May and Mi-Joo hang to give strangers the impression they've got an alpha in the house) for a second before putting it away.
Speaking of alphas, Mi-Joo's really got a thing for wild cats. In addition to that shirt, her blanket is also a leopard-print and when we see her calling Seon-Gyeom, she's standing in front of a painting of a tiger. All these seem to be digs at her posturing that she's strong and invulnerable and I burst out laughing when Seon-Gyeom folds the leopard-print blanket while muttering, "I'd have guessed this is hers even if she hadn't told me."
As disinterested as Seon-Gyeom may be in films, they play a big role in sustaining him emotionally. In this episode, it's the film set that helps Mi-Joo and him come together after their stupid disagreement. Equally importantly, the film set is where he gets the time and space to reconnect with his mother.
Tumblr media
Run On has so much fun being meta with the film bits. The film shoot within a drama is indeed an old fake.
There are two film sets we see in this episode — one with Ji-Woo and the other with Mi-Joo. While Ji-Woo's set feels relaxed, the one Mi-Joo's working in is chaotic and taxing. The two women are also at different ends of the professional spectrum. Ji-Woo is a star while Mi-Joo is not just working behind the scenes, but she's come to fill in for the person who was the juniormost member of the crew.
When pointing out the main players of their film crew to Mi-Joo and May, Hui-Jin describes the cinematographer as "a bit racist, but still a gentleman". (Mi-Joo's response is superb: "Weird.") It's an interesting choice to make the cinematographer racist because that's the crew member who decides how subjects and scenes will be framed. "Racist but a gentleman" feels like a precise summary of the orientalist perspective which (aside from being overwhelmingly masculine) shows the East through stereotypes that are often superficially beautiful, but also reductive and damaging. Not surprisingly, this cinematographer is the reason Mi-Joo flounders while translating on set.
The film set is also the first time that Seon-Gyeom sees Mi-Joo's vulnerable side when she falls ill. It's such a clever choice to have Mi-Joo stop performing in a setting that's all about performances. Not only does Mi-Joo give up the alpha act when she's sick, she admits to Seon-Gyeom that when she's feeling helpless, her instinct is to resort to a performative lie — calling out for mom because that's what she saw other kids do as a child in a sick ward (imagine how isolated and neglected she must have felt to do this. Also, she's felt this way so many times that this performance has become second nature to her).
The anecdote suggests Mi-Joo's mulish championing of her self has its roots in past incidents when she tried to fit and either failed or was rejected. And yet, for all her strength and confidence, she's chasing phantoms and has been doing so since she was a little girl. All because she was alone and didn't have anyone she could reach out to for help. Which is why what Seon-Gyeom tells her at the end of the episode is so relevant. He helps her to reorient.
Tumblr media
To which Mi-Joo, bless her leopard-print-loving heart, responds with
Tumblr media
But my favourite part of this episode is the conversation that Ji-Woo has with Seon-Gyeom when he visits her set. First of all, Ji-Woo is playing a "vegan murderer", which is brilliant as ideas go and it's adorable how delighted she is about her violent roles.
I love how Run On doesn't punish Ji-Woo for sacrificing her family life for her work. Instead, it holds out the possibility that it is ok if you have that imbalance. In this scene, we see Ji-Woo's family reforming at the film set with Eun-Bi sending the coffee truck and Seon-Gyeom showing up just because Ji-Woo asked him to be there.
The mother-son conversation gives us a glimpse of Seon-Gyeom's bleak childhood and we learn that everything Seon-Gyeom did for his father was actually him doing what his mother had asked him to do. It comes as a surprise to Seon-Gyeom that his mother has noticed what he's suffered and that she understands how he'd hoped silently suffering would keep the family together. It's almost as though he's feeling seen for the first time.
Much like Dan-Ah, Ji-Woo may seem self-centred because of her ambitiousness, but she does notice what's happening beyond the obvious, especially when it comes to people she cares about. Both women are up against the worst of patriarchy. Also, I love that when she's talking about motherhood, Ji-Woo is blood-spattered — after all, being a working woman and a mother in a patriarchal is nothing short of fighting a war.
In previous episodes, it seemed as though Ji-Woo was the 'bad' (or at least not ideal) mother while Director Dong was the ideal, modern mother. Yet in comparison to how Director Dong later reacts to her son coming out, you can't help but feel Ji-Woo, with her unconditional support for her kids, might just be the better parent. What is great about Run On though is that that the script doesn't pit the two older women against each other as competing examples of motherhood or femininity. The point is that everyone's struggling, making mistakes and trying to learn from them. Ji-Woo is doing that and so will Director Dong eventually.
Tumblr media
Love that the scene ends with Seon-Gyeom effectively declaring himself his mother's son. Take that, patriarchy.

Today I will be addressing SuperCorp and some of the issues that have been floating around about fandom. And I will be saying some stuff that both is for it and could be used against it even though I am ultimately a super big supercorp fan. Like it says in the tags you're free to express your opinion but they will not be changing mine but I am always open-minded to opinions that can actually be explained and eloquently expressed (receipt's needed) and aren't just basic. Also just so what is noted I have been a part of this fandom since the first episode I have literally shipped Kara with everyone from Lucy to Cat even James. But Lena has just stuck out the most for me but I'm Equal opportunity.
Number #1, Lena's character in no way shape or form has ever been xenophobic she has never once shown any hate towards aliens her problem with Kara in season 5 Wasn't because she was an alien it was because she was a "Super" like Kara could have been a flying purple fucking octopus from the planet of shzjxfdf and Lena wouldn't have gave two fucks but no she was a "Super"but let's dig deeper on that point if we really look at why she was mad it wasn't even the whole alien aspect it was because she wasn't told and no I don't think she's entitled to it but I do think it played into the fact of a trust issue she has with the fact that people would think she would be just like Lex if she had been told Sooner. Which is disproved in 5x13 (also personal note: I also think she wouldn't have reacted half as bad if Kara had just told her that night at game night or the next day when she wanted to probably still would have been pissed but not to the same extent). But okay with that being said I do disagree with the kryptonite entrapment torture scene and basically half the s*** she did in season 5 it was shown that she truly can tap into her Luthor side and be dark when wanted but fortunately she does always return to the light and in all fairness it has been shown several times that Kara has a dark side of her own that could rival the luthors.
Number #2, I do disagree with the abuse of actresses and actors just because of a ship and or character they play don't blame them it's just a job they have I think Melissa and Katie do a beautiful job of bringing Kara and Lena's characters to life couldn't imagine anybody else playing them.
Number #3, I also will say about the reason bombarding of comments on Nicole's social media at least I saw the video via tiktok in that video was fucking hilarious I love Nia, Dreamer, and Nicole in general she's funny and beautiful and is an advocate for everything good in life and well it is normal to even ask other actors if they have the scoop on anything it does not mean we need to be bombarding them in videos on something relating to their character or their love of something a simple comment or so maybe but what I saw NO.
Number #4, The William of it all well I think though his character seems like a nice gentleman he also seems to be bland as hell also I did not know he was a POC to be honest I thought he was a tan white man and we'll be doing further research on people in the future as I can learn from my ignorance also but unrelated I did not know that the woman who played Maggie was apparently just a tan white woman I thought she was of some sort of Hispanic descent but apparently not according to various things I've read on here tonight... But anyways back to William I feel like a lot of people might have perceived him as a white man therefore that might play into the whole scenario of people hate that they just want two white woman together when it proves if she was a man they wouldn't give two f**** about it whether that's true or not I don't know but mine two cents.
Number #5, I will never bash someone for being for or against a certain ship and or character and well I am allowed to certainly disagree with their opinion all opinions are valid because we all see the world a different way some see it bright and shiny and others like I'll admit myself see it through the glasses of trauma. And I think that's why we all have the opinions we do most of the time when you like a shipper character it's because you relate to them somehow even if it's the most minor thing to someone else it might be huge for you. You never know what the person on the other side of the screen is going through in those characters or ship or fanfiction might have literally saved their lives.
Sidenote: Like okay personal story I was been both mentally and sexually abused as a child so I relate to both Kara and Lena respective childhood trauma so that draws me to them. And I kind of see them both as the opposite attract trope (two side of the same coin) because well we never fully get over trauma Kara had a great support system with the Danvers whereas Lena didn't get that with the luthors I mean sure she had Lex at first but even that was only to a certain extent because of his psychopathy that was starting to manifest he couldn't perceive human emotions the same as Lena who in my opinion is just a big mushy nerd who can be a badass when needed as evident by the season 6 episodes after she's quit L-Corp she's constantly trying to help out inventing new stuff and she's wondering how Nia's suit works and it just shows that she just has a curious mind and also she looks happier even with the guilt she feels over Kara's phantom zone incident when Nia called her a part of the family that smile could lit up a city all she's ever wanted is to belong and I can relate to that therefore to her.
Number #6, I feel like this should have been addressed in earlier number but as far as sexuality goes I would want to believe Kara is pansexual because of everything I've ever read and saw I don't believe she perceived sexuality like humans do because of her Kryptonian upbringing for the first good chunk of the life. Like even though she says she's not gay in the first episode, A. It was the first episode so they didn't even know where the story was going in future seasons if they got them also that means maybe she just didn't perceive herself as the Earth's definition of gay. B. Even in the first season she made a comment about how she bought Lucy was gorgeous and hell she would date her. C. She made some comments about Irma and other woman that don't sound totally heterosexual and don't get me wrong women can admire the beauty and intelligence of other women without it being sexual but as a bisexual woman it just struck a cord in me you can tell the difference when it's coming from a straight woman mouth. Now on the subject of her and Lena strictly I do think there are instances of "queerbaiting"because just because you perceive they haven't been promised to us doesn't mean that some of us haven't picked up on things or the fact that they're simply queerbating because somehow they do hype up Kara and Lena to keep a nice chunk of the audience who ships them mainly those of the gay variety interested in the show which is also considered queerbaiting. Also the fact that they've been called sisters or family or my personal favorite "that's what friends are for"doesn't mean crap because honestly at this point the overuse of friends just sounds more like they're trying to convince themselves than us.*** Also I don't know about you but even on the basic level of things they've done I've never shown half those feelings towards my friends and the ones I have it's because I started to think of them as more than friends.
Now with Lena's sexuality no they have never shown her as anything besides straight canonically but don't get me wrong she totally sends off that college experimentation vibe especially with Andrea for some reason but that may just be me.
Number #7, my main point is let's just be kind to one another because guess what there is toxicity from every ship in a fandom there will always be shitty people on both sides and then there will be those of us who just want to see the characters together for one reason or another and yes I'm not afraid to admit that part of my reasons I want to see two gorgeous woman kiss sue me LOL.
Number #8, the conclusion of my rant is that how about we leave the hating to the ones who want to do that and the rest of us like adults or whatever your age is in the fandom that has any type of maturity behave because I truly do wish the best and in the end well I hope they end up together I'm realistic that they probably won't especially due to the CW Network motto of "homophobia and racism"because they've already broken up several good gay and interracial couples on that show. But at the end of the day my true wish is just that all of the characters end up happy and healthy.
Best of luck to all shippers out there anti and supercorp and or any other couple alike may we try to make it out of this with a modicum of sanity and even if they fail us we always have fanfiction thank you and good night.

Kisekae Insights #24: GJ Club - how a spinon became a spinoff featuring Kyōya and Kasumi Shinomiya
Tumblr media
(Art by 結城辰也)
The Kisekae Insights series has allowed me to bring the spotlight back on Waifu Network animes that I haven’t posted much about in the past due to lack of fanart or lack of interest. Like Hidamari Sketch in the last instalment, GJ Club will be no exception until I continue posting the usual content in my anime posts. Honestly, it was good while it lasted.
While Hidamari Sketch is a fairly popular and notable anime, GJ Club, sadly, isn’t. The anime was adapted from the light novel series written by Shin Araki and it only received one 12-episode season in 2013 and an OVA in 2014. Since it is a slice-of-life series, not much is known about the characters’ histories, which made it very easy to adapt into my personal project. All these factors coinciding with it being the 50th anniversary year of Doctor Who made GJ Club the perfect anime to adapt and expand on.
Background information
For some reason, the light novel has been a bit hard to find. In short, while you are able to read it online, the sources are unfortunately scarce.
From 2013 to 2015, NanoDesu Translations posted translations of the light novel. They published a PDF and EPUB of the first volume (which is available on archive.org) and translated up to Chapter 17 of the second volume. It was then abandoned for two years before Haraguro Scanlations picked it up. As of September 2018, they only finished up to Chapter 3 of the third volume (with the first chapter being translated by Shadowys on Baka-Tsuki) and there are no further updates after that, with the exception of a one-off chapter released in November 2020.
As of August 2021, however, all the original translations by NanoDesu seem to have been deleted from their site. All the translations are available on AsiaNovel, but there are no illustrations because the reader doesn’t seem to support images. If the images weren’t discarded in the code of the novels, then all they would need to do is add support for them and then they would appear.
There are 9 volumes and two special volumes for GJ Club along with 8 volumes and a special volume for its middle school spinoff. It’s honestly telling how popular the series was when the translators have all but abandoned it.
Shin Araki also wrote an additional spinoff to GJ Club, namely GE: Good Eater, and a sequel, namely KB Club. GE is set in a fantasy world with the characters being based off the characters of GJ Club, while KB Club turns everything meta by having both series be the creations of a high school light novel club, with the characters of GJ Club being based off the members of said club, right down to their names. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of that approach given how I’ve adapted GJ Club into my personal project. In the end, I guess we’ll never really know what happens in the novels, but at least we have this.
Watching the anime and listening to the character music was how I first realised that anime was sexist to males because of the female-centric focus in most animes. Kyōya only gets one character song in the series, and even then it’s a duet with Megumi. If that isn’t sexist to you, then I don’t know how I can convince you that a lot of animes are sexist.
In January 2015, I published two posts outlining my idea for an English dub of the series that also fits with GJ Club’s depiction in my personal project. The setting would be changed to London, England, specifically the areas of Chiswick, Ealing and Acton (where their school is located) and the characters would speak with British accents. The images in the original post are dead because I idiotically copied the images from the site instead of saving and reuploading them to the post, but since I’m grubbing for content anyway, I’m going to repost my character details as follows:
Kyōya: The protagonist of the series. When he started Year 10, he was kidnapped by the girls when he walked into an old school building, hoping to find the Culture Club. He moved to London from Manchester just before he started Year 7. His best friend outside the club is someone named Tesshin Yokomizo (横溝徹心) who is a local and not seen in the anime. In the GJ Club, he is nicknamed “Kyoro” and despite his spinelessness, he seems to have talent in dealing with the girls around him. His birthday is December 18. Due to a crisis involving his family during his childhood, he and his sister Kasumi were left in the care of a family guardian just before they moved to London, but she left when Kyōya started Year 10. It might have been that childhood incident that emotionally scarred him and left him spineless…
Mao: The Year 11 president of the GJ Club. Her family is rich and they live in a mansion in Ealing. She has a habit of biting and picking on Kyōya when she is bored or angry. She always reads books and watches shows without kissing scenes.
Shion: The only daughter in her family, Shion is an expert chess player with many brothers, all experts in some kind of activity. She speaks in a Birmingham (Brummie) accent because her mother and a few of her brothers were born in Birmingham. It is unknown if Shion was born in Birmingham herself.
Megumi: The calm and nice middle sister of the Amatsuka family. She likes knitting and she is always seen making tea and cakes in the club room. In the same year level as Kyōya.
Kirara: Born in Swansea, Wales, Kirara is the tallest and strongest member of the club. She speaks English in simple, monotone sentences. Welsh is her first language. Kirara can be seen eating meat, sometimes sharing it with Kyōya, but not with anyone else. She is afraid of spiders and has little tolerance to alcohol.
Tamaki: (voiced by Karen Gillan!) The newest member of the GJ Club when Kyōya becomes a Year 11 student. Like Kyōya, she is kidnapped and forced to join the club. Her nickname is “Tama”. Her family is from Glasgow and they run a Shinto shrine in Acton. She has several younger siblings.
Kasumi: Kyōya’s younger sister, who was born in Manchester. After a visit to the GJ Club, she becomes inspired to start a middle school division when she starts Year 7. She has a brother complex and she mistook Mao for being a primary school student when she met her. Her proficiency in Welsh is better than her brother’s, who can probably speak at a beginner level.
Geraldine: Shortened to “Jill”. She moved to Chiswick from Swansea to be with her sister, Kirara. She first met Kyōya at Ealing Broadway Station when she had difficulty buying a Tube ticket. She didn’t really understand how to use the ticket machine, so Kyōya went to help her. After this, Jill considered Kyōya her “samurai master”. Jill doesn’t speak English fluently, so she relies on her whiteboard to communicate with the others. She is as strong as her sister and she joins Kasumi’s GJ Club when she starts Year 7 in Chiswick.
Seira: The youngest sister of the Amatsuka family. Though she speaks in a typical London accent, she sometimes talks through her cat clip in Received Pronunciation (the Queen’s English/RP) using ventriloquism to state her true feelings to Kyōya, who she has a grudge against.
Mori: The maid of the Amatsuka family. She likes to ride a motorcycle.  A running gag is her twirling before Kyōya much to his pleasure and annoyance to the rest of the club members. Sometimes, her mother takes her place without the family even noticing due to their identical appearance.
Kyōya, Kasumi and Momoka: The Brother, the Child and the Yandere
Normally in previous instalments, I would have described each character separately, but because their backstories are heavily intertwined, I will introduce them all at once in this section. Most of the backstory takes place around the Battle of Koshi Castle in December 2013 and during the Manchester Campaign of 2005-2013, which I have already covered in #15.
Tumblr media
When Hiroki Ichigo’s twelfth incarnation was killed at Koshi Castle, he managed to escape in his TARDIS, where he regenerated into his new prototype, namely a four-year-old Kyōya. The TARDIS crashes outside North Manchester General Hospital on 11 December 2005.
Earlier, Hiroki and Akari’s gametes (along with those of Hiroki’s brothers and their families) were taken by Reona Yukawa and placed in the Progenitor so that they could breed super-soldiers out of them. When Takumi Kamijō and Kyōko Sakura manage to escape from their cells (saving Nodoka Manabe and Azusa Nakano in the process), he changes the destination of the baby about to be released into the Progenitor’s time portal. That baby was Kasumi, one of the super-soldiers grown from Hiroki and Akari’s DNA. She ended up at the same hospital as well and was about to be taken home by a couple when Girl Power killed them, resulting in Kasumi being taken by Akari and Shaun.
Tumblr media
What remained of Hiroki was contacted by the spirit of Walpurgisnacht. Making a deal with her, Hiroki regenerated into his thirteenth incarnation, the female Momoka Mizutani. No, Momoka is not an OC for GJ Club, but she is based on the character of Apple Lam Chung-yan from the TVB drama A Great Way to Care II, played by Tavia Yeung. Momoka takes Hiroki’s TARDIS and heads to Salford, where with the help of Walpurgisnacht, she establishes a cha chaan teng café in the middle of a trading estate and hires a group of red drone Daleks as her workers, hiding their identities by having them disguise themselves as humans.
Tumblr media
Over the next eight years, Momoka gets close to the new Shinomiya family by influencing them through Kyōya’s dreams to come to her café. Eight years later, on 11 December 2013, the Fourth and Fifth Doctors come in with their companions. When the Shinomiya family come in, a confrontation with Ayaka Kikuchi and her army ensues before Momoka transmats the Shinomiya family to a Dalek spaceship, where she prepares to execute them using the Yashio’ori. However, the Yashio’ori is sabotaged by the enemy army so that the laser beam would not charge.
As Ayaka and her army attack the Dalek ship, Momoka uses the Dalek-enhanced machine guns to fend them off. While two Doctors confront the Master, Momoka is killed by Girl Power officers, resulting in Walpurgisnacht taking over her body as she regenerates, maintaining her current appearance. Read #15 to find out what happens after this.
Once the Battle of Koshi Castle and the Manchester Campaign conclude, the Fourth Doctor helps Kyōya and Kasumi move to Chiswick in 2008. Five years later, the events of the GJ Club anime take place. During his time in Chiswick, Kyōya gets a job at the post office there and later, studies a double degree in Japanese Studies and Politics at SOAS in the University of London while also learning Cantonese, Mandarin and Welsh in weekend and evening courses (apparently he also wanted to learn Taiwanese but they weren’t running any courses, but that’s alright, he can always learn it somewhere else, which he presumably did).
On a side note, I volunteered myself to be Kyōya’s English voice actor, so I’ve practiced my Mancunian accent by watching actors like Christopher Eccleston, Stephen Tompkinson, Karl Pilkington and maybe a bit of Peter Kay as well. The only problem was that I’m not even sure that my accent is even Manc because I can’t tell if I’m getting it wrong and sounding like someone from Liverpool, Yorkshire, Newcastle or even Scotland. Oh well, that’s what happens when you really get into things.
I don’t buy expansion packs, I make my own (budget allowing)
So as I said, GJ Club only got one season and an OVA to go with it. Do Kyōya and the GJ Club make further appearances in the series? You bet your ass they do.
After being absent for much of the Next Gen Series in 2014, Kyōya and Kasumi receive a letter from their aunt, Narutaki, asking to meet in Hong Kong after their mother, Akari, went missing following the Siege of Ōsaka, only to be followed by Mao and the rest of the GJ Club, who learnt where he was going and managed to get on the same flight as them.
Narutaki, who had taken her Girl Power friends and established a rogue faction separate from the main group, takes the GJ Club to Nijō Castle, where she explains the background behind the Manchester Campaign and the events of Series 8 and 9. Soon after, Girl Power’s commander, Daniel, sends his brother, Nathan, out to find Narutaki. Kyōya tries to contact Hiroki, but he is unable to get through to him. Luckily, the TARDIS arrives and the Doctor and Hiroki help Angela and the others repel the attacking Girl Power forces. Some more things happen and by the end of the story, we learn that Kyōya and Mao are dating.
That Christmas, Kyōya and Kasumi head up to Manchester, but the Doctor briefly takes them and their friends back to Hong Kong for a picnic with Hiroki and the rest of the Zhuge family.
A few years later in 2018, the GJ Club and Momoka get a cameo at the start and end of the Gokaiger TV movie special. By this point in time, Momoka’s café in Manchester has expanded to many other branches around the UK and in Hong Kong.
The next year in 2019, Kyōya, Kasumi, Mao and Megumi are featured in a four-part adventure in Soulbound Series 3, helping the cast solve the mystery of Parker’s past and Shinbu’s origins. Two years after in 2021, Kyōya and Kasumi move to Hong Kong (along with the GJ Club) and join the Superhero Project as the new ShinkenRed and ZyuohTiger. You’d think Kyōya would be against violence given his harmless tendencies, but I suppose his character has developed over the years despite having abandonment issues.
So this has been the involvement of GJ Club in my personal project. It’s a shame the series wasn’t more popular or it could have gotten a second season, a manga, more (and frequent) translations of the light novel or hell, even a licenced release. This series is just like Sea Princesses in how popular it was, but despite the number of episodes the anime got, at least Shin Araki hasn’t abandoned the series (by putting it in a spinoff no less) unlike Fabio Yabu, who hasn’t made anything new for Sea Princesses since 2010 after getting more animated episodes than GJ Club did. On the other hand though, neglected series with little material has been good development fodder for my personal project as it allowed me to bring awareness to the existence of those series while also developing backstories and afterstories for them.

Popular!Luz AU concept post
This au concept is something me, @crispyclown , and @molotov-does-stuff worked out together on @pastatiger ‘s TOH discord.
The basic concept is “what if Luz never did become friends with Willow and actually did become popular” based on an offhanded comment from boscha in ‘Understanding Willow’ that went to the effect of “that human could have been popular if she wasn’t hanging out with Willow”.
Here’s all the headcanons we’ve all put together:
Timeline:
1) 'teenage abomination' never happens. Luz just has a boring day and becomes vaguely aware of Hexside.
2) during ’Covention’, Amity and Luz meet for the first time. They don’t hit it off but they don’t not hit it off either. After the Lilith speech, Amity still steps on King’s cupcake, but it’s completely by accident. Amity tries to ‘keep up appearances as a Blight’ and ends up accidentally insulting Luz and King while attempting to apologize. Luz ultimately still has the “Bog of Immediate Regret” line, but Amity doesn’t really care one way or the other, so she nearly says ‘you read Azura too?!’ Before instead accepting. Amity and Luz’s bet is pretty low stakes — Amity apologizes to king if she loses, Luz apologizes to Amity if she loses, maybe? But Eda and Lillith get waaaay into the bet and both sides cheat as canon. Amity still breaks down when the construction glyph is revealed, but Luz formally concedes anyways (with low stakes she doesn’t have any serious need to win, and she still would rather be this girl’s friend than her enemy), citing their own relative skill levels, before going and talking to Amity. Amity is still DISTRAUGHT about the whole ordeal, but she and Luz have a much more in-depth heart-to-heart, where Luz explains what she did, tells Amity how cool Luz thinks she is, and manages to tell her the “I’m not a witch, but… I’m training to be one“ line. Amity leaves Luz with the line, ‘they say humans can't learn any magic. But... I don't think that's going to stop you.' And… they’re, maybe friends? Unclear friends? Probably just acquaintances but the point is its nonnegative relationship development.
3) ‘Hooty's Moving Hassle' is removed.
4) in ‘Lost in Language’, Luz is still a little over-friendly with Amity (Amity respects her for serious but also She Has A Reputation, Luz) when they meet in the library. Luz still gets sucked in to the twins’ chaotic energy, and Luz still thinks hanging out with them will somehow translate to brownie points with Amity. When Amity walks in on them in the secret room, she’s much more visibly and viscerally betrayed by (what she thinks) Luz did. However after saving themselves from evil Otabin, Luz does convince her the twins tricked her, they book trade as canon, Amity actually clearly thinks of Luz as a friend at the end of it all.
5) the moonlight conjuration incident happens after the library incident. Amity spins a BS story about Luz being a skilled witch to her parents and invites her to the conjuring. While initially their conjuring goes as canon (ie nowhere), Luz turns it to a regular party with Boscha, Skara, Amity, and herself. (and Cat, i think? Whoever their canon fourth was, she’s still here.) Eventually they try again, and since (in this au) the conjuring's power == your conjuring group's friendship's strength, and everyone here is at least somewhat friends with luz now, they do manage to animate a few things.
6) at some point here, Luz, Boscha, and Skara team up for a pickup game of grudgeby, and Luz learns the fireball glyph.
7) During ‘Once Upon a Swap', both Skara and Boscha notice how out of character King!Luz is acting. They can admit King!Luz is being cool, if a lil dorky, but they have an out-of-character moment where Boscha tries to ask 'Luz' if she's okay. King doesn't get it, but the others walk in on it so Boscha resumes acting like a challenged alpha bitch. (Luz eventually explains to Skara what was goin on that day. Luz ‘conveniently’ never got the chance to clue Boscha in.)
8) at some point around here, Luz manages to get Eda to enroll her in Hexside.
9) 'adventures in the elements' is changed bc Luz does know two glyphs. However, She and Amity want to hang out some more and Amity thought Luz's fire glyph could help her learn the fireball spell, so they still go to the knee together (with Eda, Emira, and Edric as terrible excuses for chaperones.) Luz learns the ice spell under Eda’s somewhat hands-off tutelage, possibly after accidentally angering the Slitherbeast as in canon.
10) In ‘First Day', Boscha is looking forward to finally getting a read on this girl who wormed her way straight into Amity's heart. (she's not jealous. nuhuh. not even a little. YOU’RE jealous!) Luz still immediately gets Detention'd, tho, but this time Amity and Boscha show up to bust her out unprompted, leading to a VERY awkward moment where Viney (and Jerbo and Barcus) refuse to trust Luz on the basis that Boscha and Amity are her friends, and both of them are notorious jerks who would ABSOLUTELY bully the DT kids. Amity has to duck out for her performance tho. the episode concludes as canon.
11) we get an extended time where we see how Luz easily makes friends with almost everyone at Hexside. She's friend-shaped and she gets a HUGE popularity boost for being honest friends with Skara and Amity. (she gets rancid vibes from Boscha when they’re at school together, but she can't put her finger on *why*. and besides, Boscha calls Luz her friend too, so that probably counts.) during this time Luz meets Gus, who is one of E&E's classmates. Gus can have an episode, as a treat.
12) Luz finally meets Willow, and gets slapped in the face HARD with confirmation that Amity and Boscha are kind of massive assholes. Luz tries to befriend Willow, but Willow refuses to trust her due to how often Boscha, Amity, and the rest of the popular girls who make up most of Luz’s closer friend group have bullied her.
13) Luz tries to get Boscha to take it down a notch. Boscha takes it up a notch. Luz tries to get Amity to help, Amity asks why it matters — it’s just ‘half a witch willow’, no one cares. Luz realizes, awkwardly (and probably with the assistance of Jerbo and/or Barcus), that while she currently has a lot a friends and is popular, if she defends Willow from Boscha’s bullying she’ll lose a lot of her popularity. Luz kind of has a small breakdown over this, because she doesn’t want to risk friends here when in the human world she has so few, but at the same time, she has Principles! She can’t just ignore this! As one of her schemes to help Willow without going against Boscha directly, Luz manages to get Willow transferred out of Abominations, although Willow is kinda annoyed by this since even though she’s in plant track she feels a stranger. (This alienation eventually goes away, but not before…)

14) Luz snaps and punches Boscha in the face one day for bullying Willow once too many times. Boscha gets PISSED and Luz is NOT BACKING DOWN, even though she’s scared. Boscha basically exiles Luz from the friend group, which has the added effect of making almost all of Luz’s friends stop talking to her, most painfully Skara and Amity. Willow starts to tolerate her, but only barely. (Gus is still Luz’s friend tho. In fact, Gus, the DT kids, and E&E Are the only Hexside students at this point who’ll be caught dead with Luz.)

15) ‘Understanding Willow’ Is changed; Luz catches Amity burning up Willow’s memories. However, since Amity, Luz, and Willow are distinctly *not* talking to each other, the quest to save Willow’s mind is *much* more tense. Luz keeps taking potshots at Amity for abandoning the both of them, Inner Willow hates both of them, and Amity is trying desperately not to have fun with people who hate her and also trying desperately to defend her actions. Amity still reveals the same secret of the day she stopped being Willow’s friend; Luz, meanwhile, reveals some bad memories of her own human school that make it very obvious how much the chance to be popular meant to her and how she genuinely empathizes with Willow’s whole situation. Ultimately ends with a bit of a tense moment between the three where they admit they’re not friends yet… but at the very least they’re all willing to be friends, now.
16) We get some time watching Luz slowly re-making her friends throughout the school, as people decide they really do like Willow and Luz as people and they’re kinda tired of Boscha been an alpha bitch. Maybe spliced with Willow & Luz & Amity hangin out, being friendly, or with Boscha been salty and Skara et al. being here by obligation even though they *clearly* wanna hang out with Luz some more.
17) ‘Wing It Like Witches’ happens largely beat for beat here. Boscha attempts to re-assert social dominance, Luz invokes the sacred rites of a game of grubby with a bet, Luz tries to get Willow and Gus in for it but Gus can’t and Willow won’t; Amity talks Willow into forming a 3 person team with her. Extra angst from the fact that Boscha and Luz did actually have some bonding over being on the same team on an earlier grubby game.
18) Grom happens now, largely as canon. When preparing Luz for the main fight, Amity theorizes (incorrectly) that Luz’s greatest fear is losing her friends on the boiling isles; Luz goes along with it, because ‘I already faced that fear once this year, it’ll be a cinch’. Grom tries it but it doesn’t work, but then from turns into her mom. (We see Amity nearly cry from Grom turning into her, but realizes what’s going on, and then has a massive blush from being called ‘her’ Amity. Skara rolls her eyes, bc she’s been clued in. Boscha is deliberately not caring.)
.
20) Boscha eventually gets to the point where she decides to apologize to Willow. She starts with a BS ‘lol sry’ approach, ends with a record-scratch-sudden rant where Boscha really does break it — and herself — down in honest apology. Some of the bad attempts are played for comedy, this one played completely straight.
Miscellanious other elements:
Unrequited Boschamity / exes Boschamity, boscha has cool banter with her friends (mildly platonic boschluz banter, snarky boschamity banter, member boschkara banter, etc), Boscha being really jealous of Luz, Everyone — EVERYONE — pines at Skara, Luz also pines at willow eventually, BOSCHA ACTUALLY GETS A REDEMPTION ARC AND ITS WELL WRITTEN AND NO ITS NOT IN SERVICE OF A SHIP, Boscha::Azula Amity::Zuko wrt redemption arcs, Boscha joins the inevitable rebellion as one of those ‘everyone in public thinks I’m an enemy of the rebellion so I can help them out real nice in the DL’ people, and yes we ARE overthrowing the government at some point in this au just not right now, right now we’re having ANGST and LUMITY, boscha is actually very nice to her friends when she wants to be she just usually doesn’t feel like she Should Be Vulnerable, any episode that’s just ‘Luz With Willow And/or Gus doing Hijinks’ (ex ‘Really Small Problems’, ‘Something Ventured, Someone Framed’) that hasn’t already been mapped to an event in this timeline is skipped completely, yes that means Mathholomule successfully becomes president of the human club, none of this aus cast is actually friends with him tho don’t worry, Edric has been quietly dating Jerbo for a while now but his sisters don’t know, Emira is a disaster lesbian for Viney and the teasing is relentless, Emira is a terminal prankster with a maladapted sense of boundaries as a result of her parents, this is a point of contention for her courtship of Viney who can and will go OFF on her for crossing the line and not feeling guilty, Edric is very aware of boundaries but he also finds looking to her for direction gets him in trouble the least at home so he just feels terrible afterwards and tries to get Emira to tone it down and/or apologize, basically the library incident was her idea in this au and he went along with it because of blight child optics stuff, Luz’s memory may out Luz to Willow and Amity, Willow and Amity absolutely say ‘gay rights’, in fact the entire isle says ‘gay rights’, this au tricks you into thinking ‘oh easy lumity’ but then Willow comes in like a wrecking ball, during that murky period when Luz’s friends all hate her bc she punched boscha all the people still willing to talk to her get friendly REAL fast, yes that includes willow and amity once they all stop hating each other, nobody lets Amity live down “Oh, wow,,, sports” except Luz who didn’t get it, Everyone has a song assigned to them at the sleepover, Luz’s is Bad Reputation, Skara’s is Caramelldansen, Boscha’s is Money Machine, Amity’s is Eminence Front because I say so

A Story’s Analyzation Chapter 8: Normal Day~ It’s a normal day~ It’s only a normal day~
Summary: Mc talks with Solomon... and also bonds with Leviathan and Beel. *sigh* finally.... the grand entrance of the “new character” really shocked me.... Well, anyways I hope you like this chapter! As always have a great day ahead!
“*sigh*”
A long sigh leaves from Lucifer’s mouth as he looks at the perpetrators of the scene, Mammon and Beelzebub. Mammon positively looks like a scared animal and Beelzebub looks like a kicked puppy. He begins as he sighs for the hundredth time, “So, how did the kitchen and Mc’s room end up like this?”
This meaning, completely destroyed.
Mammon lets out some ‘ums’ and ‘ah’s as he stutters while trying to explain. It is Beelzebub who finally give him a concrete explanation, “Mammon ate my pudding, the one that I specifically labelled as mine. I saw him eating and I lost…. My composure….” He looks down, guilty, as he finishes his explanation.
“…I see.” Lucifer thinks for a minute as he looks at the now disinterested Mc, who was laying down on the love seat of his room looking up at the ceiling, actively ignoring everyone in the room. In their own world. Mc hasn’t said one word since the incident and quietly followed him with his two brothers in his room…..
“Mc.” He calls them. He is then met with the most tired face he has seen in his life. As if they are tired from just breathing. He coughs, to avoid laughing in this situation, “You will be living in Beel’s room for the time being until the kitchen and your room are repaired.”
“Ok.” They say simply, they then continue looking up at the ceiling. ‘What has happened to this human?’ he thinks. The room is silent after the lukewarm response.
Silence is not forever, you know?
“OI.” A certain demon of greed shouts to get the attention of the other people in the room.
“No Mammon.” Lucifer cuts before he can say anything.
“But I haven’t even started!”
“I know what you will say, so, no.”
“But!”
“No.”
During this, Beel looks at the human with curiosity. As he feels something is out of the place. Something that should have happened, regardless of the situation… ‘A pact. A pact with Mammon….’ He thinks as he continues looking at them…. And then back at his brothers who are still….. fighting? Having a conversation? Debate? He wasn’t sure as he was tangled in his thoughts…about it all….. at the surface it didn’t made sense….  Why should he be worried? At all? This means that it is good that Mc doesn’t have a pact with his brother for his protection?
It didn’t made sense…
He looks back at Lucifer and Mammon….
They are still going on…
He should probably stop them…
“Mammon its okay I will live in Beel’s room as planned…”
All the brothers look at Mc. They seem far too disinterested for some reason…
They look at Beel with a tired smile, “So, can you help me bring my stuff from my room?”
“Yeah, sure.” He smiles, forgetting the thoughts he had before.
 **********************
There was a lot of stuff that was not damaged….
Currently, Beel was helping them move some of their stuff like clothes, other daily necessities and stuff. While the stuff that they won’t use everyday but will use it when needed were kept in boxes.
“Beel.” He looks up from his work to see his brother, Leviathan.
“Mhm?”
“Lucifer is calling for you; I don’t know for what but he says he wants to meet you in his study or something.”
“Ah, ok thank you Levi.” He smiles but he is ignored as Leviathan looks at one of Mc’s stuff and lets out one of his big infamous ‘WOOOOAAAAAAHHHH’s.
“That’s- that’s the limited-edition booklet of TSL!” Leviathan runs towards the book like its his last food in Devildom. “Ahhh, I always wanted this! I lost the chance to get it 4 years back and now its in front of me!”
“That is Mc’s stuff.” Beel tells him with a straight face.
“Huh?”
“It’s their stuff.”
“No way! This can’t be that normie’s!”
“Who said I am a normie?”
A voice comes from the door, its Mc who is looking at Leviathan as if a mother was giving her child, The StareTM . “Plus, don’t you think it is rude to touch other people stuff without their permission?”
Levi looks away in embarrassment, “I-I mean, I was just surprised is all…”
“Alright. What about the ‘normie thing’?”
“Um-uh I thought that you were a normie….”
“…Do you like the TSL series?”
“Huh? Of course, I love it!”
“Oh? Who’s your favourite character?”
“The Lord of Shadows! He is the best!”
“I know right! I love his character development too! Like how he went from a cute and shy baby to confident and responsible!”
“I know! I like his friendship with Henry!”
“Oh, my Devildom! Me too! Eyyyyy! High Five!”
Though, no clap was heard….
“Eh…. Leviathan?”
“…” He looked away, blushing. “I-I should go… Or else I’ll miss the latest episode of ‘Oh no! I’ve been trapped in a game and the game master is after my soul so I must break some rules of the game to annoy them and escape with my lover and his family to the real world!’”
“Oh…. Um is it new?”
“Yeah just last week it aired its first episode… um so…. i-if you need my help… you can uh-um call me!” he runs away hiding his face in his hands.
“…”
“…”
“What was that?”
“I don’t know either, but it was very cute! Hehe!”
Beel looks at them smiling.
“Uh Beel? Didn’t Lucifer call you?”
“Oh. Alright.”
Ah, it is quite peaceful..
 ***********************
“AHHHHHHH!”
A very familiar scream was heard in the class. With the scream however, there were gasps and many disappointed sighs….
Mc sighs again while looking at Mammon, it seems he some how chanted the spell incorrectly and now he has turned into a cat and in a dog, now in a rat… The professor seems to try his best to remove the curse…. Though it’s impossible as Mammon is jumping everywhere in panic….. Satan too is trying to help him with no avail….
They sigh again….. as the class is now in chaos… their morning had been chaotic their afternoon? Well, with their reaction for this situation….as if something more chaotic happened resulting, into them being numb to their surroundings. It seemed that at this point they wanted to go home or die… either works for them. ‘Is their anything else that I have to see today?’
“Why are you sighing so much? What is he? Your disappointment of a child?”
They look up, back straightening.
‘This guy…… Of course….’
Solomon.
“No, I am just tired.”
“Hm… Well, it seems that class won’t return to normal for the next 47 minutes…. How about we talk?” he sits beside them…. A little too close.
“No thanks. I have way more better things to do than talking to you.”
“Oh~ come on. Just a little chitchat?”
“No.” they try to get up from their seat.
?!
…They can’t? Mc looks at Solomon in shock, his smug face is all that they need to understand..
“You cursed my seat?”
“Hehe…. It seems you are not as naïve as I thought you were…” he smirks at them.
“Oh? Did I disappoint you?”
“Not at all.”
“….What do you want from me?”
“You know that very well…” he moves himself near to them…. So much that they are one would think that they were kissing… he whispers in their ears, “I want a pact with you….. that’s all I want…”
“….and you think I will give it you?”
“Of course not, best things come with a price….. well, what is yours? Tell me.”
“Your heart or soul then.”
“Playing hard to get?”
“I am just stating my price….”
“You know I can’t give you that.”
“Then the deal is off.”
“Is there something else that you want?”
“No.”
“There has to be.”
“Tch. I already told you I’m not interested.”
“Why?”
“Hm…. I am sure you know the reason very well.”
“Aww, are you still mad at me?”
“Oh? Was I not very clear?”
“Bummer.”
“Madman.”
He only laughs, “It’s alright, maybe one day……. I’ll be able to convince you or maybe fate will, who knows? Truly who knows of the future, right?”
“Shut up.”
“Mc-”
“Solomon.”
Both of them look up to find, Lucifer staring intensely at Solomon.
“You should sit a little away from Mc.” He speaks in a threatening voice.
“Oh, good evening Lucifer! Why are you here?”
“A certain idiot cursed himself. So, I am here to clean the mess. Now, move.”
“Alright. Alright. Mc, Lucifer, have a good day.” And so, he leaves the both of them alone.
“…”
“Mc-”
“Thanks.”
“Oh, well, you did request the favor from me so-”
“Let’s go and help Mammon.”
“Mc-”
“Shit, did Mammon just turned into a monkey?”
He looks at said monkey…. This will take while, huh?
 *****************************
 “Ah, Diavolo. Good evening.”
“Good evening to you too, Mc. I am sorry if I disturbed you.”
“No, not at all I just finished my homework so I was already free.” They say stretching their arms. Today they had a lot of homework it was all easy so it didn’t take them much time.
“Ah.”
“Though, its quite rare for you to call me.”
“Ah, yes I wanted to call you regarding my-”
“Your sister? I understand. When do you want to meet?” they were glad that they were alone. Beel said he was going out to run an errand and also to go to Madam Scream’s promising them that he will bring them one of his favourite shortcake.
“…”
“Diavolo?”
“Its just….. Why do you know my sister?”
“…..I think that discussion needs to be done face to face, Diavolo
“…. You are right.”
“Is there anything else you wanted to talk about?”
“….Yes.” ‘He sounds serious…’ they think ‘must be something important..’
“So, what is it?”
“Mc….. Are you and Lucifer finally dating?”
“Diavolo…. Why are you so hellbent on matchmaking Lucifer and I?”
“Because you two look cute together!”
“Why?”
“Hm…..”
“Diavolo.”
“Alright! We’ll meet each other again on Friday after classes!”
“Fine.”
They sigh setting their D.D.D. down on the bed.
Something….. feels out of place….
….
Their neck… feels like its burning….
It feels good…..
So good….
So warm…..
“Mhnnn.”
They moan.
It feels so-
?!
Wait what?
They touch their neck just to feel nothing…
What was that?
‘Whatever.’
They go to the bathroom to wash their face they look in the mirror-
‘Wait.’
They had a giant mark on their neck…… which very suspiciously resembled that of one of the brother’s sigil…….
‘Wha-’
But then in a flash it disappeared…
Was it the sigil that was doing weird things to them before?
‘What is happening?’
… There was one man- I mean Demon who could answer them…. Without being overly suspicious of them… and then obsessively observe them on a daily basis….. the one that seemed like he was mentally stable…..
Satan.
So, they walk to his room and knock gently on his door.
“Oh? Mc? Did you need help with something?”
“Ah, yeah…”
“Come on in then.” He smiles softly.
“Mc?”
They turn around to look at the eldest.
“Lucifer?”
“I was searching for you….. I wanted your help with something…… if you are free, would you please come in my study with me?”
“Um Lucifer I-”
“They are not free, Lucifer. They needed my help with something… about curses right?” he smiles at them though his words are full of venom.
“Oh? Maybe I can help you, Mc?”
“Uh no Lucifer…. This time only Satan can help me….hehe…” they smile apologetically.
“…”
“Anyways, Mc come in. You, get back to your work.” He looks at Lucifer, bored.
“Excuse me?”
And then Satan slams the door on Lucifer’s face.
“Dude…”
“I always wanted to do that! Hahaha!”
“Pfft-”
Both of them laughed for 2 minutes straight.
“Anyways… what is it you want my help from?”
“Ah, yes, I wanted you to talk to you about something. Its, -“
Then, only static was heard….
….
They tried again…. And even then only static was heard… again….
They look at Satan and he looks like he is frozen in place, like a statue.
“…”
They took a deep breath…
“Satan could you teach me more about History of Devildom?”
“Of course!”
….
This seemed to work, huh.
‘What is really happening?’
“Satan?” they look at him and now… he is only staring at them?
“…”
“Satan.”
“Hm? Oh yes, sorry I-”
“Its ok. So, let’s get this over yes?”
“Yes!”
….
It’s weird….
Its….. wrong…

It has been a while, Reader did you enjoy the story so far?
Oh? its slow? Well, many stories need a lengthy plot to progress forward you know?
So, did you finally find the clues I gave you in the story?
Ahahaha!
Good. Because you will need them. Even the ones in the future chapters…
*sigh*
That fool… he finally entered in here huh?
Reader, don’t worry that psychotic idiot won’t do anything to you…….
For now.
That man is an idiot, after all, he is chasing after you, the person beyond this screen.
Not the Mc, not the “Reader”.
You, Y/N.
Hm, or rather, [Name] or [reader name] are also some ways to refer you right?
He is nothing but puppet controlled by someone else…. Yet he thinks that he has broke those chains…. Poor soul, he does not even know that he is still being controlled.
But who am I to change one’s fate?
I am not a God nor a Demon nor an Angel….
To be honest, he still is struggling to write/talk, sometimes talking in codes…..
He will fail….
No matter what….. that is certain….
And then, he will go back to the same scenery that he hated so much……
Understandable, because he was all alone…..
In his world, he alone came to know the truth after all.
Even if he is playing the role that is given to him he is merely doing it get in contact with the Mc………
*sigh*
Next time, maybe, it will be him you will meet….
But let’s hope Tohei comes back too…. They are worried about you…..
Maybe, they know that the interference is him.
Please be Safe…
All of us would hate it if something were to happen to you…

Story under the cut! (Wordcount ~1,3k)
It was the usual weekend, just an average morning. Remy cuddled up on the couch and got ready to enjoy his hangover in front of the TV. Yes, it was the perfect day to stay inside and never go out again.
His limbs were hurting, the sun was shining and warming up the air enough for him to despise the outside even more than he usually would. It was unclear to him as to why he was on the couch instead of his bed but like many other instances about last night, his memory remained unhelpful. He might not remember but he probably stumbled over the couch and passed out because he missed Virgil or was worried about locking them out of his bedroom.
Knowing his drunk self, it was probably one of those things. He was pretty silly, especially when drunk.
Remy gently hugged a nearby pillow and put on his favourite comfort show. Last night had been good and bad in the weirdest ways. His memory was hazy, blurry at best. He did not dare touch his phone. No, it was time to bury himself under his fluffy blanket and eat chocolate until his headache was drown out by the pure power that was a fucking sugar shock. Some part of him hoped to push away the reality if he just failed to acknowledge it for a little while longer.
On the other hand, he was motivated by a weird desire to consume sugar. He longed for the sugar high that came with ignoring his body’s limits ever so idiotically. His body was loosely covered in a wide, white shirt with black letters spelling out “Sleep”. Pants? Yeah, he kinda wore boxers with lemons on it because they were sour like him. His sunglasses were perched up on his ruffled bed hair instead of his sassy nose.
His trademark leather jacket was missing, in its pace was the the purple and blue blanket he had made himself. The product of hours of crocheting was curled around his shoulders. He pulled an additional store-bought blanket over his legs (the universe, dark blue cave blanket!) and bundled himself up like a little burrito. Hey, he was tasty and deserved to give himself a treat and look like one.
If he had the sense to order food, he would order the greasiest shit ever but he did not want any kind of social interactions when he felt and looked like absolutely pale and tired trash.
“Time to be a fucking bitch~”, he hummed to himself, a slight sing-song rhythm to his pronunciation of the words.
He switched to the episode of his choice per remote and wiggled his eyebrows at the great drama show he had selected. Drama was perfect for comfort. Feeling less shitty about himself by looking at more miserable people was his primary coping mechanism. Still sleepy, he leaned over to the table where he had put a few snacks on, knowing his kitty wouldn’t stoop so low and interfere with his mortal food. The Queen was too extra for this. Also, he had little drawers in the table that stored his secret stash of snacks. He knew his migraine attacks and lock of motivation to get food. He was prepared.
The TV started blaring and he flinched at the painfully loud sensation while he put his hands around a bowl as if to scoop it up like the fragile piece of porcelain it was. He was about to pick it up and let it rest in his lap when a big fat blackness appeared in his peripheral vision, distracting him from his deed. His fingers were on the remote, muting the show but he dropped it when the colour surprised him.
A lightning-fast crawly crawl surfaced from under his couch and ran below his table.
 “WAHHHHH!!!!”
The naked spider elicited a loud scream from his throat, making his booming head groan and press even harder down on his brain. It felt as if he was about to explode and it did not feel comfortable. Although the pain was tiring, he was screeching and jumping away - as far away from the spider as possible. His best friend, fear, was freezing his pain response just for long enough for him to move to another place without passing out from dizzy spells. Adrenaline washed his pain sensitivity away while the sudden shock just overrode it.
In some kind of gross fascination, he watched the spider approach a table leg with rapid speed. Absolute disgust shook him as the creature got closer and closer to his table. There was his food!
“No, don’t touch my food, I’m too sick for this shit, I swear to fucking god. I will burn you down to death, you dummy. My fooooood-”
He moved to get up, held back by his blanket burrito-ing him! Unexpectedly, another blurry blob of charcoal burst into his vision and threw itself onto the intruder.
 Virgil!
They jumped onto the spider, gargantuan paws falling onto the little crawler like a guillotine’s heavy blade. These warm, loving, furry and fluffy cuddle hands were suddenly tainted with the death shrieks of a spider that nobody could hear. It moved, struggled and trembled as Virgil leaped their tongue over the creature and bit into the spot.
The paws Remy knew to be promising and friendly were nothing like their usual nature anymore.
 They were claws of vengeance.
 “Wh- what the fuck-”
The endless black hole that was the void was too big for Remy to see any more than this. Virgil was blocking his view on the little victim while they seemed to soundlessly cough out the little spider legs. Remy knew the cat was eating but the sudden, rigid movements reminded him of a slow and heavy slaughter.
 “Virgil..-”
Amidst the brutality, Virgil finished up and purred. The cat looked at him, licking their muzzle and opening their mouth as if to yawn.
The owner blinked. Virgil blinked.
The Killer Queen jumped onto the couch, just by his feet and slowly started liking their paws.
“Aw, little riot.. did you protect me? You are some fucking savage of a dark and stormy knight, are you not?”
The cat looked at him, blinking before resuming to lick their paws clean. They barely acknowledged the touched bitch on the side of the couch. No, they were busy. This was a serious Queen.
They sat up comfortably, their tail wrapped around their paws which dug into the couch’s softness. It looked like a black whip, ready to strike rather than the furry extension of a kitty it used to be to Remy before this incident.
A weird feeling rumbled in his chest and he forgot the sickness and ache torturing him as he gently reached out for the little beast.
“Hey, hey. Cuddle with me, little monster.”
 He giggled.
Something within him could not unsee Virgil ripping apart a little, struggling spider while genuinely enjoying the taste of dying prey on their tongue. Another part of him felt warm and safe with that ferocious little void on his lap. They licked over Remy’s finger before curling up and further licking their paws clean.
His show was running in the background, still muted. However, he barely heard footsteps approach his living-room.
If only he had been prepared for what was to come next. No drama show was capable of balancing out the blow that was coming for him, personally.
“Good morning - Hey, Remy, can I take a shower?”
Before him, a half-naked Emile was smiling tiredly at him. Face slightly pale, drained of blood and energy, Remy could smell their hangover with accurate horror.
Why was his boss in his living-room?
 Oh, fuck-
 “Meow!”
