Kevin says nothing but does put a pen on the bench awkwardly. It rolls due to Kevin's numb handling and they all watch as it falls off the bench and onto the ground. Josten takes a moment to stare at it before he bent down and grabbed it from where it landed. "Thanks for the pen." he says.

"Yeah sure." Kevin says.

"Don't your parents need to look the contract over?" Wymack asks hoping for at least a little bit of insight since Coach Hernandez couldn't figure out the situation.

"I'm 18." Neil says settling the contract down onto the bench and starting to sign and initial.

He didn't offer anything further.

It's WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.

Here's how it works:

• In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.

• Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We're posting progress here. If you haven't made any, go make some and come back to post.

There were only a handful of other players from the team in the lounge, but all eyes were on Andrew. His reputation from college followed him throughout his five years in the professional league.

Neil's bag finally slips and lands on the floor with a dull thud. “What the fuck?” Eyes whip around to him.

Andrew’s hazel eyes were darker in the interior lights of the lounge room. More brown than gold.

The coach pointed his clipboard at Neil. “Not a word, Josten.”

Ignoring that statement Neil looked at Andrew, opening his mouth ready to speak again when his vision was blocked by a thick shoulder and red hair.

Jodie sets a hand on Neil’s bicep pushing just slightly. “Let's go get changed out, yeah?”

Mind running too fast to process anything else, Neil nodded, following the other man into the locker room. Belatedly he realizes he didn't grab his bag from the floor before Jodie holds it out.

“You look like you've been through war.” Jodie hums as Neil takes his sports bag.

Neil's fingers wrap around the fabric strap. “What?”

Jodie points his thumb back towards the door. “Minyard being here sure surprised you, huh? Coach didn't tell you?”

“Not My Cup of Tea” will be touring around the UK, starting this time next year! (September 2025-May 2026) His first tour since 2019!

BLURB: "Josh Widdicombe is back on tour, not again! By now he has almost certainly mastered the art of stand-up, either that or he has wasted the last 15 years of his life. Come along and decide for yourself. Expect it to be shorter and with lower production values than Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, but funnier and with more references to tea."

Also, I’m sure this’ll be the FIRST LEG (ha!) of the tour, so hold onto your hats, he’ll likely come to a venue near you! Guessing due to Josh's popularity, thanks to Parenting Hell, demand for him will have gone up a bit since 2019. Good luck!

Distracted Penmanship - I hope to one day have it finished, I really have a few great ideas in mind! I have also started but...

Caller One Line One I loved the idea from the very beginning and the first chapter (originally a one shot), flew out of me in one night. I was obsessed.

8. What project(s) are you currently working on?

I currently have way to fucking many WIP’s; Actions Speak Louder Than Words, Coast to Coast, Controversially Young Girlfriend, a Stiles Stilinski series, an ACOTAR series and a couple requests that I have gotten recently. I have more series that I’m going to start but haven’t actually written anything for yet.

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

That would be my Robert “Bob” Floyd x afab!Reader Hands Oneshot. I did not imagine in my wildest dreams that it would get over like 100 notes, It’s now sitting at 885 notes.

16. At what point in the process do you come up with titles?

Not gonna lie sometimes I start with the titles and then work around that idea. Other times I’m in the middle of writing and the idea will strike me. On my Stiles fic I just posted last Wednesday I originally named it Adventures In Sleep and posted it as such before renaming it Treehouse Therapy.

19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs.

But she wasn’t sure she would be able to do what he asked of her. If she could fight the shadows of the past. She accepted the task anyway. Not wanting to disappoint the man who had been so patient and understanding of her. She prepared herself to look into the nightmares she had buried away.

23.How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?

I’m actually pretty fucking good at this. I hate reading chapters that are to long so I take that into mind when I’m writing. I try to cap them at like 4,500 words. Though I don’t think anything I’ve written has even gone over that. I also try to think of TV shows I’ve watched and how they end each episode.

WIP Wednesday Game 8/16/23 (Closed) | Math Nerd AU

"What's 8 x 42?" Matt says as they head towards the front door.

"336." Neil answers without any hesitation waving to the hostess.

".02 x 85?" Matt tries for something harder." Matt asks opening the door for Neil.

"1.70" Neil returns opening the second door for Matt.

"You're seriously just doing that all in your head?!" Matt exclaims as they walk out into the warmth of the South Carolina sun.

"Well, I am here to get my degree in accounting." Neil says with a shrug and Matt can see him visibly enjoying the warmth after sitting in the cold of the restaurant.

"Oh cool!" somehow their own majors and future plans had not come up at any point during the course of their lunch conversation. "I'm in business administration, though I'm hoping to be able to play Exy professionally." Matt says scratching his cheek a bit in embarrassment.

WIP Wednesday - 8/16/23

A snippet from a future installment of "The Batch Family":

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.... Ever since Hunter had heard those iconic, cinematic words at family movie night, all those months ago during winter break, he'd been... well, inspired. To say life felt like it was moving fast was an understatement. He and his brothers were now sixteen. It felt like only yesterday when they were playing cops-and-robbers in the backyard every evening, because homework was only two pages of multiple-choice questions, with accompanying pictures, and chores could be done in just five minutes. They would argue over silly things like who could burp the loudest, and Mom would tuck them in bed each night, and the only time they'd ever look at a calendar was to see when their next soccer game was. Life was easy then. It was simple. When had it changed into something so crazy? Hunter missed those simpler times. Some days he felt like he couldn't even breathe, between the various tests to study for, after-school activities to keep up with, friends needing attention, brothers needing even more.... So when they'd watched that movie together, amidst a hectic holiday season no less, the concept had really spoken to him. Ditch school for a day, go out into the world, and have an adventure. He started planning that very December.

WIP Wednesday (8/16/23)

In which spy!Merlin attempts break the Crown Prince out of an interrogation room after accidentally kidnapping said Prince and dumping him, unconscious, in said interrogation room to begin with.

Shifting aside one of the lay-in ceiling panels, Merlin gripped the edges of the frame and flipped down into the room, landing on his feet, silent and catlike.

The Prince jerked back from the table. “Who are you?”

“I’m the one who’s going to get you out of here.”

“And where is here, exactly?” the Prince asked, folding his arms and glancing surreptitiously between the locked door and the open ceiling panel.

Merlin chose his words carefully, admitting to nothing as he trod the line between honesty and insinuation. “I think you already know. You saw some of their handiwork earlier this evening.”

Arthur nodded, just once, and leveled his gaze on Merlin. “That still doesn’t answer my first question. Who are you? More importantly, why should I trust you?”

Impulsively, Merlin threw back the cowl.

“You!” the Prince blurted, taking a step back. “But you did—! Earlier, I thought I saw…” The Prince made several nonsensical hand gestures, and Merlin soon tired of watching him flail.

“No, you weren’t hallucinating.” Merlin pinched the bridge of his nose. “Yes, I have magic—and, yes, magic is real…but I think you figured that part out already, what with the fireballs they were hurling at you.”

The Prince crossed his arms and raised an imperious eyebrow. “Those were rather hard to miss.”

“Rather.” Merlin cleared his throat pointedly and waved a hand at the ceiling. “We need to go.”

“But you have magic.”

“I thought we’d already established that.”

“You could be working with them.”

“I know you don’t trust me, alright?” Merlin grit out between clenched teeth. “But if you want to get out of here alive, you’re going to have to trust me for the next twenty-two minutes.”

“Twenty-two?”

“Twenty-two.”

“That’s oddly precise.”

“It took me sixteen to get in here; getting out will take quite a bit longer with you in tow.”

“I beg your pardon,” the Prince sniffed.

“Then beg.” He allowed himself a moment of satisfaction at the Prince’s shell-shocked stare. Merlin knew if Lance had heard that retort, he’d groan and tell Merlin to ‘touch grass,’ so Merlin simply wouldn’t tell him. Leaping up onto the table, Merlin grasped the edges of the metal ceiling grid on either side of the displaced tile and swung himself up through the gap.

“...You can’t speak to me like that,” the Prince sputtered belatedly.

Merlin stuck his head back through the ceiling to glare at the Prince upside down. “Well, I did. Are you coming or not, your Royal Pratness?”

“Fine,” the Prince snapped. He shrugged off his suit jacket—a jacket that Merlin knew cost more than Merlin’s rather generous salary—and tossed it carelessly over the hard metal chair before pocketing his patriotic cufflinks and rolling up his shirtsleeves. “I can’t believe I’m doing this,” he muttered as he climbed onto the table and hoisted himself through the ceiling gap after Merlin.

Merlin hid a sigh of relief as he slid the tile back into place and led the way into the ventilation shaft. His entire plan hinged on convincing the Prince to trust him, albeit grudgingly. He’d made it past that first hurdle; the rest of the plan should be just fine.

It was not fine, Merlin soon discovered. He’d pulled up the front of his dark cowl to cover his nose and mouth, held in place by a handy sticking-spell, as soon as he’d re-entered the air shaft because the Shadow Division desperately needed to have their ducts cleaned. The Prince had no such luxury. He also had a dust allergy.

“Brilliant,” Merlin muttered under his breath as the Prince sneezed for the fourth time in barely thirty seconds. The sound rebounded off the metal, multiplying the echoes through the ventilation system. Merlin glanced back over his shoulder and hissed, “Are you trying to get us caught?”

Neil’s car!! - @jtl-fics

For WIP Wednesday 8/16/23 - Neil's car!

Andrew's third year at Palmetto they'd broken into the campus pool at 1 am and smoked and swam until they grew too lazy. Andrew had quietly admitted that he didn't despite the color orange. Neil was mildly appalled. Granted the vibrancy that Palmetto painted their buildings wasn't the type of orange Andrew cared for. Ever since Neil would buy things in the most garish form of the color. He'd wear hoodies and shorts and walk past Andrew deliberately to get some sort of reaction. When they'd finally gotten a home together the joke seemed to have fallen off until Neil mentioned getting a car for himself. He'd come home a week later driving the sporty pumpkin and Andrew had dropped their groceries on the garage floor. 

Now he was resigned to driving the damn thing to the shop. The appointment was in half an hour. Andrew sat in the car and opened the garage. Their neighborhood was quiet. It was gated, manned by a 24/7 security staff that patrolled the streets. The security gave Neil a bit of peace of mind. There were other people on the team that lived in the neighborhood, their coach unfortunately was three houses down.
