new setting (new ideals)
Summary: Wherein John Dory accidentally sneaks into the home universe of Sans after a very small margin of victory in the latest multiversal tourney; things escalate in unprecedented ways after the local scientist sizes him up to scale.
Warnings: swearing, drinking, god i am so sorry for this
Authors Note: @ohposhers @bulliestrolls someone needs to put you two in the fucking slammer for drawing sansdory, and then they need to put me in the slammer for writing sansdory. for the sake of enjoying this fic please picture JD as a lot more creature than in canon.

John Dory was small enough to fit inside of Sans' coat pocket.
Sans discovers this the hard way when the ex leader of brozone falls out of his pocket after his return to Snowdin.
"Ain't snow fucking way." Was what Sans managed as he stared at the unmoving body in the snow, far too small to be considered the average monster for the underground. The Troll would be eaten without a second thought, mistaken for the bugs Muffet doesn't provide protection for.
He plucks the tufted tail and holds up John Dory like he's a dead rat. Of course he snaps awake as soon as Sans is holding him at eye height, and with a screech he's flung aside as the skeleton lurches back.
Sans pauses to catch his breath, "Okay, so you're not dead. That's good."
"Where am I?!" Was John Dory's instant question as he shook the snow from his hair and brushed himself down.
"Pipe down pipsqueak, I won't let you get squished," Sans said as he took a seat on the snow. He held out a hand, "We should probably get you situated with Alphys, size you up a bit."
John reluctantly stepped onto a gloved hand and took a seat on the palm, it was cold and unpleasant. His tail thwipped loudly despite his size, "Anything else in mind to get me back home?" The words are agitated.
"Want me to leave you here?"
Silence.
"Thought so, I'll give you a hand in figuring it out, but you're playing by my rules bud."
"How were you the reigning champ for years on end?"
"The girlies liked me for my dry humor, MILF hunting attitude, and undetermined backstory- and my infinite fuckability of course."
"Must suck not having a dick."
Sans just gives a hum before giving John a gently toss, only a few inches but he still yelps and clings desperately to phalanges when he lands back in Sans' hand. It garners a chuckle from the skeleton, "Pal, I got extremities you couldn't even dream of, and no, that isn't an invitation to start listing 'em off."
John Dory shuts his mouth.
"Don't be shocked if Alphys tries to fill you up with needles and probes."
"With what-"
"She's a curious gal."
-/-/-/-
Thankfully the resizing process involves a lot less probing than Sans said it would, which John is eternally grateful for. He'd like to avoid having a cold piece of metal shoved up his ass if possible. The process just required a small blood sample and some weighing before he was resized with one little ray.
And then he was the exact same height as Sans, give or take a few inches.
"Proportionately, I can see why you won," Sans said, hands stuffed in his pockets and expression same as always. It's far too hard for John Dory to read, he can't tell if it's sarcastic or genuine.
"Thanks." He shrugs off the compliment because he doesn't know how to take it.
"Is it easier to see why I was the reigning champ?" Sans asked.
"You're the furthest thing from 'sexyman' out there," John Dory said before he could actually think about the words exiting his mouth.
Sans laughed, "Tell it to The Onceler, if you can convince him to take me off the bracket then I'll stop trying my best."
"You don't try at all."
"The girlies like me for that."
"What is it with you and the girlies?"
"What makes you think that the guys were voting for me?" Sans shot back, "Think you can walk and talk? I know a shortcut."
"Good point," John Dory said, "I can walk and talk."
"Cool." Sans holds out a hand.
"What?"
"Gotta hold my hand to take the shortcut."
John places his paw atop Sans hand and the grip the motion is received with is far too intense to be considered normal. But a shortcut is a shortcut, and he'll just have to take help to get around this universe until he can get home.
-/-/-/-
"Ketchup?"
"Yeah man, ketchup." Sans tossed a bottle to John Dory as he spoke, the Troll catching it with ease.
"You expect me to drink ketchup? I've had worse, but what about alcohol?" John asked.
"Bud," Sans began, "The bartender is a living flame, you really think he wants to be handling highly flammable stuff?"
"Fair point, but can you actually get drunk offa ketchup?" John asked, and he gave this slanted smirk as he spoke, partially leaning an elbow on the bar. He's gotten more comfortable after a week in Sans' hometown, he lives in the room under the sink in the skelebros household and made it his own until later notice.
Sans gives a hum, "Wanna find out?"
John grins before popping off the cap, "Try me."
-/-/-/-
"What do they put in this shit, Sans?" The words are spoken with a giggle and despite the ache in his head John Dory goes back for more.
"Tomatoes," Sans answered with, still slowly downing his first serving of ketchup.
"It's gotta be more than that, bonedaddy," John Dory purred, leaning a little bit more on the bar and resting his chin in his hands.
A distinct azure rises to Sans' face, "I think you've had too much ketchup."
"You meant it."
"What?"
"When we were in the lab, when you said I looked hot. You meant it, you like me," John deduced rather skillfully despite his inept state.
"And if I do?" Sans asked.
John pauses, "It'd be hot, Sans and John Dory double teaming the tourney."
"Alright, we should get home," Sans said, sliding off his bar stool and holding out a gloved hand.
John Dory took it and slid off his own stool, his tail wagged about lazily. His face is burning up and he looks oddly lovesick, a realization that Sans makes the choice to ignore until he can contemplate it late at night. Alone. In bed. By himself.
The Troll slinks an arm under Sans' shoulders, face resting atop the fluff of his hoodie and nuzzled into the collar of his turtleneck, he still clutches a hand tightly. He gives a contented hum, "Your jacket's soft."
"I know."
"You're soft."
"That's an odd thing to say considering I'm all bones."
"I'll show you bones."
"We really gotta get you home."
"And then?"
"And then you're going to sleep, no goodnight kiss."
-/-/-/-
Another week passes and Papyrus suddenly has to deal with the fact that Sans and John Dory are being overtly romantic.
"Your teeth are cold." John Dory would always say whenever he tried to kiss Sans.
"The girlies like it." Sans would always answer.
And sometimes John Dory would try again to get the usually snapped shut jaw open, or he'd say, "I guess I'm one of the girlies."
They'd laugh and after a small beat of silence continue on with their day.
Maybe it's selfish that Sans is keeping John Dory from a way back to his own universe, but he's pretty sure the Troll doesn't mind. He's stopped asking when he'll get to go back home at least, and Sans is benefiting from having someone around.
It makes the resets more tolerable if nothing else, and Sans just doesn't tell John about them. About the times he's watched everyone die and everyone live, he never speaks a word of it. And unless Frisk brings it up, he won't have to know of the amnesia or the violence.
And they can keep living their happily ever after.

ANYA LAUNCHES SIMBLEDON SEASON IN PASTEL GREEN
It's Simbledon season once again, and The Crown Princess graced Day 1 of the tournament this morning!
The Crown Princess, who also serves as Patron of the  Brindleton Tennis and Croquet Club, reportedly looks forward to the annual games the most.
The 2-week long tournament will end with the awarding ceremonies, where The Crown Princess will be handing out the trophies to the lucky champs.
Tumblr media
Although most Simbledon enthusiasts are mostly hardcore tennis fans, through the years, the tournament has evolved into far more than tennis matches.
It's also the "place to be" during Summer, attracting A-list crowds composed of royals, aristocrats, and celebrities from all over. Fashion enthusiasts are also eager to look at the stands to see the latest fashion trends that adorn the A-list audience.
Tumblr media
Case in point: the Crown Princess, who opted for a trendy yet sophisticated ensemble for day 1.
HRH wore a tailored mint green blazer with white detailing, which she paired with a white pleated skirt. HRH finished off her chic look with a pair of white pumps, and a matching clutch. As for her jewellery, HRH wore a pair of gold hoop earrings, a gold bangle, a diamond ring (a gift from her mum) and a tank watch.
Tumblr media
Crown Princess Anya is set to attend in the coming days as well, and we're super excited what she'll be wearing next!

Currently watching - January
Because I love a good little list - with an alphabetical order this time! 😊
Regularly updated during the month, latest update 31.01.2023
This may contain spoilers!
1. Ameiro Paradox (6/8 on Viki and Gaga)
An enemies to lovers story with journalists and cute smiles. I am a little bit confused by Kaburagi, just like Onoe is. It is not bad, the acting is quite nice.
2. Bokura no Micro na Shuumatsu aka The End Of the World With You (1/8 on Gaga or Viki)
This feels depressing and heartbreaking and I love it! Done right this can become a little sad gem.
3. Cutie Pie 2 You (1/4 on Youtube)
Well, I haven't been waiting for this and the first season left without a deeper impact on me. So right now I am very much unimpressed with this one.
4. HIStory 5: Love in the future (5/20 on Viki)
It is starting to grow on me. Both storylines. Seeing Hai Yi being nice, caring and less arrogant is kind of sweet. And all the flirting between Liang and Wynn is very much entertaining. Besides that, the main story is kind of confusing and I can't stop myself from asking, why doesn't He Bo Wei search himself in the internet?
5. Individual Circumstances (4/8 on Viki)
After years spending their lives apart from each other an almost worn out movie director and a famous writer meet again. The past has to be processed and the writer deals with their history and present in one of his stories. I like this one a lot. Can it be please next week, so I know what they were talking about in the preview?
6. My School President (8/12 on Youtube)
I loooove this one so much!!!! It is my favorite watch of the week! Set in highschool we meet Tinn (the school president) and Gun (head of the music club). Tinn has a huge crush on Gun and Gun sees in Tinn the enemy who is standing between the success of his music club and the win of the Hot Wave Music Contest. Sometimes you just need a good old high school bl to be happy. I enjoyed this series so much. And the music is so good!!!
7. Never Let Me Go (7/12 on Youtube)
The tension and chemistry between the two mains is definitely there and noticeable. I am hooked with the story and at this point really anxious about what's to come. There are so many layers to unfold and I love reading all those metas here on tumblr! So well written analyses.
8. Physical: 100 (2/10 on Netflix)
Okay, listen...my best friend told me, I should watch this and after 15 minutes we were on the phone with each other and for the next 1,5 hours we had the time of our lifes! This show is insane and so much fun to watch!
9. The New Employee (6/8 on Viki)
I love the manhwa and I really enjoy this adaptation. It is funny and cute and not so far from the original material. The two mains have a wonderful chemistry.
Finished in January
Series
1. 2 Moons the Ambassador (12/12 on Youtube)
It was just bad. The acting was not good. The plot was...lame and there was too much going on with the amount of couples to deal witj. And there was just too much dull drama without reason and so many plotholes and logical errors... 2 out of 10 for the sweetness sometimes
2. Till the world ends (10/10 on Youtube)
This one was such a pleasant surprise for me. A story about the end of the world with explicit and brutal scenes, decent acting and a kind of good story! The chemistry was there and with episode eight they said, well lets show world what we can do. I won't talk about physics nor the ending. Well the latter would explain the first issues, but I don't care. I liked it! 8,5 out of 10 dystopian ideas
3. Remember Me (14/14 on Gaga)
Okay, this one is so complicated for me. First I found it boring. With episode three I was hooked and totally into it. Around episode 10/11 I just got bored again and the story became...difficult to like anymore and the last one was just meh...I really liked the storytelling, but some parts could have been cut short and others needed more story time. I felt like they have forgotten that there were like four other stories beside Champ's in the last episode so everything felt rushed. And yes, the big problem with Name's decision to speak. Like as it is just so easy to overcome your fear and barrier and mental health problem and just speak. One day, after you notice it would be better for others if you speak, you just do it...well, that is not how it works. And yes, thinking about it, this is a really big problem of the show in general. Just presenting mental health problems as something you can overcome with enough selfcontrol and some words of encouragement...or the sight of others who feel unwell in your depressed presence...damn...It could have been such a nice 7, but thinking about those flaws really hurts...there is no real working with the problems. Champ just decides to forgive his family and his depression is healed...Name speaks because he just decided to do so...Gun and Golf broke up and just a few days later Golf says sorry and pulls out a ring and everything is fine again...Well no...that is not how life works. 4 out of 10 stories to tell
4. Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko Season 1 (4/4 on Gaga)
A man who tries to avoid the world of BL, by reading Yaoi mangas to get to know all the tropes he has to avoid in order to not get involved with the world as a main character. It is hilarious. I had a really good time watching it. 8 out of 10 tropes to avoid
5. Love Bill (10/10 on Youtube)
A vietnamese drama about a young man falling in love with a screenwriter. Well, of course there are some other things happening in between, but this is the heart of the story. Our boy Nguyễn Bá Vinh is doing a great job! I really enjoyed this drama. And the ending is so perfectly fitting for this drama. Thien is a screenwriter and known as the king od sad endings. So yeah, the ending is sad, but at the same time perfect and bittersweet. 7 out of 10 rainwater barrel showers
6. The director who buys me dinner (10/10 on iQiyi)
Okay, I read the Webseries, so I do know what Dennis was up to and what his story was. I liked the story between Yudam and Dongbaek. The ending? I wish they would have stick more to the original, but I am not mad about it. They had a fresh start and it is not that open of an ending for me. Yudam agreed to have dinner with Dongbaek and I believe that those two will be happy in the end. 7,5 out of 10 pills to swallow
7. Island (6/6 non bl)
I have never thought I would say I like a horror series, but here I am. I hate horror besides Vampires, Aliens and Witches, so this was a surprise, especially when I think about my despise and horror for The Exorcist. But this one is really good! And now I can't wait for season 2!! There is so much to unpack and I am hooked! 9,5 out of 10 lust demons
8. War of Y (20/20 on Gaga)
I finally watched it. I don't know. It was good imo, without a doubt. But it is a little bit paradox. The series tries to go against the industry and the fanservice and the working conditions, but in the end it is just another bl. Most of the stories have their happy ending and are kind of unrealistic. I enjoyed my time watching it, even though it was tough at some times. 7 out of 10 two-faced media
9. Gaya Sa Pelikula aka Like in the Movies (8/8 on Youtube)
What a perfect little series! I loved every second of this and I wish it had more episodes. But they managed to tell the story in the time they had without cutting something short or anything. It is a deep story with a light storytelling that fits the tone perfectly. The story is about Karl and Vlad who become fake boyfriends to help each other and who happen to fall in love with each other for real. But nothing is that easy in this world and the process of coming out and coming to terms with who you are needs time. Absolutely love this one! 10 out of 10 dishes to wash
10. Ingredients (21/21 on Gaga)
This was the perfect thing to watch while laying down with a cold. It warms your heart and makes you smile. It is such a cute and wholesome story and I believe they will manage to overcome all obstacles in their relationship. I am very grateful for this recommendation! 9,5 out of 10 desserts
11. My Engineer (14/14 on Youtube)
Well this one was a ride. I liked the beginning, but my patience died at some point. So Bohn and Duen became a couple, but they didn't touch each other, no hand holding, no kind of showing affection and the only one who does shows them through words is Bohn, but he becomes so jealous I wanted to slap his face. He is sulking the whole second part of this series! That was so annoying. The only bright spot were RamKing. I get it, they are cute and the only ones with at least two brain cells! 5,5 out of 10 sulking faces...
12. The Tuxedo (8/8 on Gaga)
This was not good. I think it is cringy and there was no chemistry between the mains or a plot I could really follow. I mean there are short films out there, which can transport a better story with a better feeling for time and substance than this series. The amount of times I cried noooo...Not good... 3,5 out 10 what the hell was this blue tuxedo?!?!
13. History 4: Close to you (10/10 on Viki)
Yeah, close to you...what a perfect titel. Best friends to lovers, stepbrothers to lovers. And I liked it. I don't know what else to say. I know there are some scenes that are just bad. There is no excuse for that, but you know what? I watched KinnPorsche, I watched Dangerous Drugs Of Sex...And besides those scenes I really enjoyed the stories. Yes, also the stepbrothers. 8 out of 10 Cardigans
14. Between Us (12/12 on Youtube)
Well, in the end it was boring and I couldn't care less about WinTeams relationship or their traumas, which is really sad, because it plays such a big role in the series. I liked them in UWMA, but here, in their own series, they were blank and boring. 4,5 out of 10 swimming pools
15. The Devil Judge (16/16 on Viki)
Why so good? I couldn't stop watching in the end. You know the feeling when you are so tense, you just want to spoiler yourself the ending, but you don't want to, but you want to and in the end you are sitting there in tears, because the drama is so sad and you're so tense. And still, since the beginnen of the show, you question yourself if you want to hate Jung Sun Ah, feel pity for her, fuck her or let her fuck you. In the end I let her fuck me out of pity while I hate her with all my guts. But the drama is just so fucking good. So thrilling and with some really good (and some not so good) plot twists. And in the end, every meme is true, gay sex would be less gay than what ever was going on between Kang Yo Han and Kim Ga On and I respect them for that. 10 out of 10 intense eye contacts
16. Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko 2 (3/3 on Gaga)
A man who tries to avoid the world of BL, by reading Yaoi mangas to get to know all the tropes he has to avoid in order to not get involved with the world as a main character - Part II (yes, I copy paste this one...). It is hilarious. I had a really good time watching it. 7,5 out of 10 tropes to still avoid
New Category: Dropped/On Hold
1. I will knock you (1/12 on Gaga)
Well, I don't like it. It brings me no joy so far. So for now it is on hold until I have nothing more to watch...
2. To Sir, with love (2/17 on Youtube)
I know that it is good, but I don't know. I just can't find the energy to watch it. Perhaps some day in the future.
3. Something in my room (3/10 on Youtube)
I saw people talking about this one and how good it is. Well, it is quite okay. I guess it will get a little bit deeper with more episodes, but I haven’t had the time to watch more or the motivation to watch it...so for now it is on hold
4. Hit Bite Love (on Youtube)
I couldn't get over the first half of the first epsiode. It just made me uncomfortable. So this was a dropped for me...
Short films
1. Invitation (on Gaga)
A short film about a jobless person who finds binoculars and breaks in a stranger's home. There is a good twist in the end. The acting was okay, the story was okay...the ending was good. 6,5 out of 10 binoculars
2. Fragile Souls (on Gaga)
I like this one a lot. It has depth and a really deep story for a movie under 10 minutes. The acting is good, too. It is a story about opening your heart to someone and not keeping you inner demons all to yourself. You are allowed to be vulnerable and it gets better. 8,5 out of 10 grainy metaphores
3. Jay (on Gaga)
Jay is a 13 years old boy who is fascinated by his older brother's physique what somewho change into attraction. He is discovering his own sexual orientation while his brother doesn't keep his own a secret from the younger brother (he has sex with his girlfriend while the door to his room was open). It is a complicated film which ewokes complicated emotions. Jay is in an early stage of puberty and his hormones and emotions are going crazy. He can't bring himself to like the girl who has a crush on him. Instead he fantasises about his brother, or his brother's body, a male body to whom he has easy access. The acting is not bad, the subject difficult, but all in all not a bad short film. 7 out of 10 pants
4. Going South (on Gaga)
What a ride. This movie was tense and uncomfortable to watch. I guess you can start a discourse about the question wether the sexual encounter is consensual, dub con or just simply r*pe...With all I have seen it is r*pe for me. There was so much aggression between those two and I understand both sides, which doesn't mean that ones actions were justified. 5,5 out of 10 chasing scenes
5. Suddenly Last Summer (on Gaga)
It is the story about a student, who stalks his teacher after he discovered the latter is gay. The student goes so far that he blackmails the teacher to do everything he wants for a day in return he would keep his secret safe. Well it was a slow and quiet movie. The acting was good. The story itself was okay. I liked it. Did I liek the student? Nope...But his behavior fits his character and his role in the movie. 8 out of 10 headphones
6. Kiss Of The Rabbit God (on Gaga)
This is such a beautiful and good short film! I loved every second of it and I was hooked to the very last scene. The following is all you need to know. Oh I love some good stories! A long time ago in the Qing Dynasty a young soldier fell in love with a handsome official and was sentenced to death for confessing his longing. When his spirit travelled to the Underworld the soldier’s crime was forgiven as one of passion and he was ordained The Rabbit God, the god of secret lovers. The god now travels through eternity answering prayers of forbidden love. 10 out of 10 crimson-hair
7. Langit Budak Biru (on Gaga)
It is not easy to watch, it is not easy to think about, but it is important to think about, to talk about. A movie about two boarding school students in a very religious and very homophobic country trying to understand why they are here and how to survive. My highest resprect for this movie. 10 out of 10 !
Movies
1. Gameboys: The Movie (on Gaga)
Well I haven't seen the first season, but you can indeed watch this without knowledge of the things that happen before (imo). I thought it was a decent movie. The acting was good, the stroy was there and I liked it. But I can't with "Baby" as a term of endearment. At some point all I could hear and concentrate on was this term and I am honest, I hated it. 7 out of 10 ... baby ...

what countries do you think the anubis residents live in post-grad? i keep seeing people saying all of them go to uni in america but that seems unrealistic.
mara, willow, and alfie would stay. i can't think of any reason why they'd leave except if they got a scholarship or something, and given the tor fiasco i doubt willow (or alfie) would qualify and mara's too practical for all that (expenses would still be A Lot) when oxbridge are right in her backyard.
kt and eddie would go home. neither have a real reason to stay in the uk and i think they'd both miss their family. although i can see kt taking on a job (photographer?) that allows her to travel so often that she doesn't really have a permanent place she actually lives in lol. eddie probably goes back to the uk on occasion with patricia.
patricia would go to the us. she doesn't seem particularly close with her family—at least enough to want to stay close to them for the next three years—and i think she'd like the adventure, plus eddie (and nina and amber, canonically, and kt) would be there too. she probably comes back for visits, though.
joy and jerome, as much as i would love for them to live next door to p/e as adults, they would probably stay in the uk, again because they have no real reason to leave. when they earn enough money via jerome becoming a big-shot businessman and/or joy repeatedly being invited to organize the met gala or something, they buy a second home near wherever patricia and eddie happen to be and plan their (business) trips around holidays whenever possible :)
mick, I think, would go to the us for uni on a full-ride D1 scholarship (I'm thinking UCLA for soccer). he qualifies for the olympics/fifa/world champs/whatever at some point during those four years. I can see him staying on after and having a successful college coaching career, but around his early-30s he'll make the move back home (either the uk or australia idk).
fabian would stay in the uk for uni. he studies abroad somewhere in new england for a semester (idk is that a thing in the uk?) or does a 1-year masters at an ivy or something just to see what the hype is about, but i don't see him moving permanently for the same reason as most of the others on this list.
nina is obviously in the us at the end of her senior year and i don't think she'll ever go back to the uk willingly, although she does find herself dragged there far too often (in her opinion) either by amber, a vengeful god, or her publicist (who doesn't understand why she's so averse to promoting her latest potentially-blockbuster movie in the country it's set in).
amber is also at fashion school in nyc during season 3, which she presumably continues in for uni, although maybe she drops out once her designs take off. I can see her moving to the us permanently (mostly because that's where nina is) but traveling around the world for work frequently. she and joy switch-off organizing anubis reunions every other year-ish, and she goes back home (with a somewhat-reluctant nina in tow) for those.

Lol your latest comic reminds me of me and my best friend. We both have hella mental problems/personality disorders but have become experts in dealing with eachother somehow
I'm glad it's relatable lol. My partner has ADHD and anxiety which they themselves admits is pretty tame next to my laundry list of disorders. They however are the first partner and first favorite person of mine to be so openly understanding and helpful with all my mental health issues but my BPD in specific.
My opinion is of everything I have to deal with, my borderline personality disorder is my most hated issue because it affects me every single second of every single day. My emotions are constantly on a yo-yo. One second I think I'm better than the gods, the next I'm a sobbing mess on the floor. Honestly the thing I give them the most props for handling is my anger. I'm a very angry person by nature, trauma and having an FP will do that to ya, and while I'm not violent, I can get kinda mean and snappy. I always apologize but honestly?? They handle it like a champ. Their perspective is what I say when I'm angry or splitting doesn't matter because they know I don't mean it, but they also don't let me get away with being a dick either. If I start getting too riled up and start yelling they shut it down immediately, which I'm really grateful for.
I've split on them a million times, but every single time they've handled it with a ton of patience and understanding. I love them for it. I've never met someone so willing to give me the patience and grace I need to get through all my big scary emotions. It's nice.

Action/Adventure - Imposter Syndrome One thing I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older, and I’ve absorbed more music over time, is that opinions change. I’ve talked a lot about my feelings on pop-punk over the years, and how I’ve got very complicated thoughts on it; I used to love it, then I fell out of favor with it for a few reasons, namely the genre just not being interesting, as well as a lot of band members and musicians in the genre being outed as predators, and it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Why would I want to support something that breeds the worth of humanity? I realized after a handful of years, though, that the genre has changed a lot in the last five years, give or take, and that type of behavior is no longer tolerated, as well as there are new bands coming out or established bands that changed their sound. I just wasn’t a fan of bands moving into a grungy shoegaze sound, mainly because I find it boring, but it was all the rage in 2012. Nowadays, it seems like bands are pulling from the more pop aspects of the genre, pulling from hip-hop, R&B, and pop music itself, such as Magnolia Park, or the latest State Champs album. I haven’t mentioned the genre of easycore, and how that style of pop-punk has also fallen out of favor, but it’s not that it’s gotten bad, per se, it’s that no one really listens to it anymore. It was popular in the early to mid-00s, but now? It’s a shell of what it was once was, but a few bands are still going strong, like Four Year Strong, although a few new contenders show their faces every couple of years. Belmont released a new record earlier this year that I completely forgot about, and Action/Adventure also released their debut album quite recently. They just dropped their debut album, Imposter Syndrome, and I never a fan of Action/Adventure, but listening to the album, I don’t know why. Maybe their brand of pop-punk / easycore just never did anything for me, but this debut album is great. It’s not quite an album of the year contender for me, at least on the main list, but I would like to talk about this album in some capacity. This album is really good, but it does have some issues that hold it back for me a bit. Let’s start with what I like, though, and there is a lot. For starters, this band’s sound is really solid; they mainly seem to be an easycore band, which is the idea of combining pop-punk and hardcore (or just pop-punk with breakdowns), and there are a lot of nice breakdowns on this record, but there are a good amount of pop-punk tracks, so there’s a good balance and some variety on the album, especially when it’s only a half hour. The album ebbs and flows, but in a really good way. The sound is this album is quite nice, and should satisfy fans of the genre, whether you like regular pop-punk or easycore more. The latter is more important, because  there’s a new band to sink your teeth into, since new easycore bands are hard to find these days. That’s always a great feeling, right? These guys are definitely making a name for themselves in the pop-punk / easycore scene, and rightfully so, as this record is very solid. The only real issues I have with Imposter Syndrome is that it while it does a nice job of combining pop-punk and easycore, it also doesn’t do anything unique or worthwhile with it. It sounds great, don’t get me wrong, but you could just go back and listen to the “classic” easycore albums or bands, because they execute that sound a bit better. I guess it’s worth hearing if you’re a diehard fan of the genre, but if you’re a casual fan, or you’re not into it, you won’t get much out of this, I imagine. I had fun with this album, and it’s an album worth hearing to some degree, but it’s not the best of the album of the year. Not that it needs to be, though. I had fun listening to this, and that’s what matters most. It’s a fun pop-punk record with a good sound, and I didn’t mention the lyrics and vocals being pretty good, too, but there’s a lot of potential within this band. These guys have the potential to do really cool things in the future, and this is only their debut album, especially after only being around for the last handful of years. They haven’t been around super long, but I’m excited to see where they go next. They could totally change the game, just like all of these younger bands that are finally popping up and doing cool things. If you want some good pop-punk to go with your flannel, snapback, and pizza, I guess you can’t go wrong with this album, but if you want something more, let alone something that breaks boundaries a bit, you may want to look elsewhere. These guys have a good sound, but it’s within the pop-punk / easycore formula, and like I said, there’s nothing wrong with that, but I’ve heard too many bands that utilize that cliched formula, so I’m looking for something that thinks outside the box, so to speak.

Kanye Is Never Coming Back From This
“I can say  antisemitic things and Adidas can’t drop me,” the artist formerly known as Kanye West proclaimed on Drink Champs just over a week ago. “Now what?” he rhetorically asked, with the sneering audacity of a man whose millions of dollars, millions of fans, and substantial high-powered connections have carried him through numerous instances of public backlash over the past 20 years. But that day is over.
Today, Adidas dropped him after a month in which he’s consistently asserted that he’s up against a cabal of Jewish people who control the world. His Yeezy partnership with Adidas was the core of his reported $2 billion net worth; without that deal, his billionaire status has reportedly been “obliterated.” Kanye’s musical and entrepreneurial endeavors have always been fueled by him foregrounding a barrier, imaginary or real, to stride beyond. That defining trait was endearing until his crosshairs veered from those doubting his musical chops into Black people who criticized his MAGA ties, and now to Jewish people. His recent antisemitic comments, coming after a long stretch of constantly escalating spectacle-chasing, have finally made him too radioactive for his influential allies.
Adidas joins a long list of high-powered brands like JP Morgan Chase, CAA, Balenciaga, and Vogue that have severed ties from Ye in the past month. MRC has shelved a previously-filmed documentary about him. Ari Emanuel, CEO of William Morris Endeavor, wrote an op-ed calling for companies to stop working with Ye. UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer also implored his partners to “please support the boycott of Kanye West” because “powerful voices spewing hatred have frequently driven people to do hateful things.”
This latest torrent of controversy began with the strong negative response elicited by the “White Lives Matter” T-shirts that Ye wore alongside conservative pundit Candace Owens at his Yeezy Season 9 fashion show earlier this month. His friend Diddy defended him in public at first, telling the Breakfast Club that “a lot of times, what he means is, like, misconstrued.” Privately, the Bad Boy founder contacted Ye to offer some advice — only for Ye to rebuff him, post their texts on Instagram, and warn, “Never call me with no bulls— like that again unless you ready to green light me cause anybody who got on that tee is me.” Ye then commenced social media dustups with Supreme creative director Tremaine Emory, Boosie, and Meek Mill, all of whom criticized the shirt and railed at Ye for a variety of reasons. The whole incident might have seemed at first like another instance of Ye’s personal struggles with mental health, and/or his longtime habit of seeking headlines to promote his latest venture.

But then, Kanye theorized that the people who came out against him weren’t simply upset at his anti-Blackness, but that they were agents “sent” by Jewish people. On Oct. 9, he infamously tweeted his plans to “go death con 3 ON JEWISH PEOPLE,” blaming Jewish people for “starting cancel culture,” expressing that “the funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also,” and adding, “you guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”
His Twitter and Instagram accounts were immediately suspended. Days later, he did a since-deleted interview on N.O.R.E.’s Drink Champs podcast where he falsely alleged that former Minnesota cop Derek Chauvin’s knee “wasn’t even on [George Floyd’s] neck like that,” and continued his assault on the so-called “Jewish media.” The interview was taken down after widespread backlash (and the late George Floyd’s family is planning to file a $250 million lawsuit against Ye) — but it was soon followed with even more conversations with Tucker Carlson and Piers Morgan, in which Ye kept the same hateful tenor going. He told Morgan that he was “sorry for the people that I hurt with the ‘Death Con’” tweet,” but never explicitly took back any of what he said about his plans to “#MeToo the Jewish culture.”
Ye’s stated views seem to fall in line with those of the most extreme Black Hebrew Israelite sects, who believe that they’re the original descendants of the ancient Israelites, or the “true Jews.” These groups are known for their stubborn conservatism and the fiery espousal of their beliefs that white Jews represent the “synagogue of Satan.” Kodak Black is a self-admitted Hebrew Israeilite, and Kendrick Lamar has referenced their thinking in his music, though neither artist has expressed a belief that Jewish people are inherently evil or run the world. But Ye isn’t the only entertainer to make explicitly antisemitic comments in recent years, either. In 2021, Nick Cannon apologized for implying that “Jewish people, white people, Europeans” have a “deficiency” that caused them to be “savages” on his podcast. Ice Cube has a lengthy history of dabbling in antisemitism, rapping “They said I could sing like a jaybird/But nigga, don’t say the J-word” in 1992 after earlier lyrics about Jewish people drew criticism, and tweeting various antisemitic memes decades later in 2020. Ye told Drink Champs that Ice Cube inspired his “antisemite vibe,” but Ice Cube distanced himself from the implication, tweeting, “I’m not antisemitic and never have been.”
Entertainers who have been lambasted for antisemitic comments have usually apologized after being called out, but Ye is adamantly refusing to back down, repeatedly stating that he’s willing to die for his beliefs. Those who’ve previously chalked up his controversial comments to his mental health challenges can’t overlook how lucidly and calmly he’s been expressing his hate speech across multiple interviews, dating back several years now. Former TMZ staffer Van Lathan has alleged that Ye said something to the effect of “I love Hitler” during his 2018 “slavery was a choice” interview, but that it didn’t make the final clip “for whatever reason.”
It’s worth noting that while Ye’s alleged Hitler support (which he hasn’t denied) was seemingly the third rail that TMZ wouldn’t air, him trivializing 400 years of American chattel slavery made the final cut. Perhaps that wasn’t offensive enough in a world that subsists on anti-Blackness. Many Black people were upset at his comments, but our mere outrage wasn’t enough to push him off his pedestal. Too many of us found validity in Ye’s MAGA rhetoric; too few were ready to organize and hurt him with a mass boycott. Many entertainers, entrepreneurs, and athletes within the so-called Black elite are his peers. Not only did they not publicly denounce him in 2018, they’ve since collaborated with him and, in the case of Revolt, offered him a platform to project harmful ideas. His fans have continued to buy Yeezy apparel, attend his Sunday Service events, and stream his Donda listening sessions to record-breaking effect. His corporate ties and cultural influence made him too powerful to be held accountable for throwing Black people under the bus. As much as this saga is a glimpse at one man’s endless self-sabotage, it’s also a glimpse of how little weight Black people’s grievances seem to hold in this country.
Before Adidas dropped him, Ye proudly claimed that he’s the richest Black person on earth. Even if one believed that, it should also be noted that net worth is just a loose estimate of a portfolio’s value. The more Ye alienates himself from the world’s biggest brands and turns off the general public, the less value his businesses will have, and that estimation will continue to plummet. If he refuses to apologize for his comments, that will likely make it even harder for many touring companies, management firms, fashion retailers, and media outlets to partner with him. The hypothetical CEO who’d want to support him would have to worry about the repercussions from partners who may back away from them. He claims to have the funds to float his own operation, and that’s what he may have to do after this wave of divestment.
Last weekend, Axios ran a column that suggested “America is on the verge of the first truly parallel universe presidential campaign — where the parties speak to distinct groups of voters, in distinct media ecosystems, pushing distinct realities.” This country has long been ideologically siloed, and that dynamic is tangibly manifesting with conservative media outlets and social media platforms like Parler, which Ye recently moved to purchase. He has about 40 thousand followers on the platform, which is a far cry from his 31.5 million followers back on Twitter, but he can be assured that Parler is his soapbox, and he can say what he wants to his base with few consequences. That ostracized existence may be the new normal for Ye after this month.
He’s become so submerged in his ego that he’s essentially deciding to trade off his cultural ubiquity to be a beacon of hate for a small minority of conservatives who desire Black people as lapdogs for their beliefs. He’s also galvanizing Nazis like the ones in L.A. who said he “was right” last weekend. It’s questionable if these people have any interest in buying his clothes, listening to his music, or coming to his shows for the foreseeable future. But these Nazis do want to kill Jewish people, and his recent comments helped push their hateful perspective into the mainstream. In 2010, Ye rhymed “no one man should have all that power,” and he’s spent the next decade plus proving it. Now, his self-sabotage has stripped a good deal of that power away.

20 Years Of Tears United States Summer Tour 9.14.2024
Earlier this year Hawthorne Heights posted a photo to their Instagram with a teardrop and the number 20 inside of it. When I came across this I was thinking “Are they going back on tour?” “What songs are they going to play?” etc. The day following the announcement, Hawthorne Heights revealed the details of their upcoming tour named "20 Years of Tears." The tour will feature a lineup of bands including Thursday, Saosin, I See Stars, and Armor For Sleep on select dates. During the show I attended, the supporting bands alongside Hawthorne Heights were Anberlin, Cartel, Stick To Your Guns, Emery, and This Wild Life. When I was driving to the show, I was unsure what to expect when I got there since this was a venue I had never heard of before the show announcement. The band played at The FOrX Summer Stage. When I first arrived, there weren’t many people there yet, and I could already hear This Wild Life playing their set. I was surprised that the show had started before the listed show time. I wouldn’t have wanted the show to be anywhere else; the view from the venue was amazing since they were playing in the middle of nowhere. No matter where you looked, you could see the trees changing colors. This is a venue I will be returning to in the future.
This Wild Life is an acoustic duo from Long Beach, California. I try to catch a show whenever these guys are on tour. I love the energy Kevin & Anthony bring to the table, even though these guys are mainly acoustic they know how to get a room moving. Unfortunately, I missed the show's beginning because it started earlier than what was listed on the venue's website. However, I was lucky enough to catch the last couple of songs performed by This Wild Life. They closed their set with "Ripped Away" and "No More Waiting." If you want to check out other events we’ve covered featuring This Wild Life Click Here for Celebrating 20 Years Of Ocean Avenue & Click here to see our coverage from the final Vans Warped Tour 2018.
Emery was formed in 2001 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and later relocated to Seattle for a more vibrant musical environment. The band has released 10 albums since their breakout, with the latest being "The Night’s End: Lullaby Covers of Emery Songs." Although I've heard other fans in this music scene talk about these guys, I had never listened to them before. However, before the show, I gave their music a listen, and now I understand why people love their music so much, I enjoy Toby Morrell's voice; it still gives off "emo" and "alternative" vibes without resembling every other alternative artist out there. When Emery came out on stage I was excited to see what they had to offer, I had only listened to them one time before going to this show. Let’s just say. Emery did not disappoint at all. Even though Emery has been around for 20 years, you could see and feel the passion that these guys left on the stage. They opened the set with “The Ponytail Parades” and they closed out their set with their number #1 song on Spotify “Walls”
Stick to Your Guns is an impressive hardcore punk band hailing from Orange County, California. The band's lineup comprises lead vocalist Jesse Barnett, bassist Andrew Rose, guitarists Chris Rawson and Josh James, and drummer Adam Galindo. The last time I saw Stick To Your Guns was back in 2020 when they played with Beartooth & Motionless In White on the Diseased & Disguised tour, If you want to see more from that show click here. Their music, which I regret not discovering earlier, perfectly aligns with my taste. Their thought-provoking lyrics cover a wide range of topics, from introspection to societal and political commentary. Notably, Stick to Your Guns is closely associated with the straight-edge subculture. The crowd became super excited and started filling the pit area just before Stick to Your Guns came out on stage. They began by doing a little jig to the song "Tequila" by The Champs as they made their way onto the stage. Then they walked back off the stage and came back out dancing again to their respective spots, prompting everyone in the crowd to shout "Tequila" even louder than the first time. Since the venue didn't have a barricade to separate the crowd from the stage, the energy of the fans was even higher. At one point, a fan grabbed the mic while Jesse was holding it to the crowd and screamed the lyrics to the song. I enjoyed the energy these guys had to offer after being on the road for over 50 days. Stick To Your Guns played fan favorites such as "Nothing You Can Do to Me" and "Against Them All."
Cartel is an American pop punk band from Conyers, Georgia, United States, and they formed in 2003. I only know one song by Cartel, and it's called "The Perfect Mistake." Did you know that Cartel was featured on the MTV television series Band in a Bubble in 2007? They were part of an experiment where they were given 20 days to write and record a full album. The band has only released 4 albums so far, but they have plenty of singles to check out. Their latest single, "The End," was released in 2022. I listened to more of their music before the show and it got me even more amped to see their performance. I hope they plan on releasing a new album in the future. As Cartel made their entrance onto the stage, a wave of anticipation swept through the crowd, drawing fans closer together in excitement. I found myself caught up in the thrill of seeing them perform. Throughout their set, they played 8 songs. Among the standout moments were their performances of "Say Anything (Else)," "Burn This City," and, of course, "The Perfect Mistake." I couldn’t help myself but sing along.
Anberlin is an alternative rock band formed in Florida in 2002. Since 2007, the lineup has consisted of lead vocalist Stephen Christian, guitarists Joseph Milligan and Christian McAlhaney, bassist Deon Rexroat, and drummer Nathan Young. However, more recently, Stephen Christian decided to go on hiatus, and Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire stepped into his place as a vocalist. The band has released 8 albums and 2 EPs since 2003. After listening to Anberlin's new music featuring Matty Mullins, I was even more excited to see them perform again, especially after seeing them last when they headlined the iMatter Festival 2022. You can find the video about Stephen's hiatus here. When Anberlin came out on the stage I was ready to see them play the set. Matty Mullins stepped in for Stephen while he is on a hiatus from touring, seeing him perform was a nice change of pace from seeing them perform with Stephen. Anberlin of course laid it out all on the table for this show, the energy these guys had was off the charts. Of course, they played older songs “Never Take Friendship Personal” & “The Feel Good Drag” and they played new songs “Seven” & “Walk Alone” Matty of course took the time to thank all the fans for accepting him as the new singer of Anberlin, but also thanked the whole tour for having them on the road together, Matty also joked around and said “I got in trouble last night for going 2 minutes over schedule so lets get to the next song”. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Anberlin & Matty Mullins.
Hawthorne Heights is an American rock band formed in Dayton, Ohio, in 2001. their lineup currently consists of JT Woodruff (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Matt Ridenour (bass guitar, backing vocals), Mark McMillon (lead guitar, unclean vocals), and Chris Popadak (drums, percussion). Hawthorne Heights has released 17 albums since 2004. When Hawthorne Heights came out on stage everyone was in the pit, no one was sitting on the lawn anymore. This tour was dedicated to their album The Silence In Black and White. They played the entire album almost in order, they had to save “Ohio Is For Lovers” last to close out the show. During their performance, I caught a sign out of my eye that said something like “Hawthorne Heights was my mom’s first concert, now you’re mine.” Later during the show, the band brought the kid up on stage and said that it was amazing and thanked them for coming out to the show (You can watch that video here). As I was leaving the show you could hear JT saying how much he loved that this was a tight-knit show, they played in New York City at an earlier date and were able to play at such a beautiful venue on a smaller scale. I love catching these guys every time they come around it's always a pleasure to watch their performances.

the Meat Life College Football Preview 2024
Tumblr media
Hey hey!
This is probably the latest and closest to the start of week 1 that I have made this post. Week 0 has already come and gone! I've been spending a lot of my spare time (outside of family time) like I did 20 years ago on the newly resurrected EA Sports College Football 25 game. I'll have a separate College Football 25 appreciation post soon, but for now I'm going to take a look at the upcoming season.
Lots of change. The Pac-12 is now the 2Pac for one last season. Lots of schools starting their first season in a different conference, Oklahoma included. And there is a new 12-team playoff debuting at the end of the season with home games for the higher ranked seeds in the opening round!
I'm going to try to keep my preview pretty much the same as before. Since there are now only four power conferences, my four categories will go well to parallel: Heisman Hopefuls, Conference Champ Predictions, College Football Playoff Predictions, and my Oklahoma Sooners Outlook. I'll follow the same format that I've followed the last few years - Frontrunners, Contenders, Darkhouses, and my prediction. For the playoff predictions, I'll do things slightly different and actually make my picks for who will make the playoff and then my national championship matchup and predicted champion.
Word of warning, this will probably be the most chalk filled preview I've ever done.
So let's get started!
Heisman Hopefuls
Tumblr media
Dillon Gabriel emerges as the Heisman frontrunner
The Frontrunner: Dillon Gabriel - QB, Oregon The Contenders: Carson Beck - QB, Georgia; Jalen Milroe - QB, Alabama, Ollie Gordon - RB, Oklahoma State The Darkhorses: Quinn Ewers - QB, Texas; Jaxson Dart - QB, Ole Miss; Nico Iamaleava - QB, Tennessee; Shedeur Sanders - QB, Colorado the Meat Life Prediction: Dillon Gabriel - QB, Oregon
I had a conversation with some Sooner friends who found it funny that DG is now a Heisman favorite when there wasn't as much hype behind him when he was at OU. This is my take on it, Gabriel is coming off a 10-2 season at Oklahoma where he had 42 total TDs and the offense at times moved very well. The season before, OU went 6-6, DG essentially missed 2 games to injury, and there were various times where the offense looked stalled. So DG is going to Oregon with some momentum. And Oregon turned Bo Nix (who previously struggled as the starting QB at Auburn) into an NFL ready QB in the two years he was a starter. The long way of saying both Gabriel and Oregon have positive momentum to thrust DG to Heisman frontrunner status in his sixth year of college football.
Out of the others that I listed, I really like Milroe and am interested to see what new Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer will do with him. Beck is on there because Georgia is a powerhouse right now. If Gordon from OSU has a big year rushing, we could see him in New York. Ewers is on there because you have to have a Texas QB hyped so he can disappoint. The Dart and Lane Kiffin combination is good and will lead to some numbers, I'm just interested to see how Kiffin manages a team of basically free agents picked up in the transfer portal. Nico out of Tennessee has a shot under Heupel to do great things, so we'll see how that goes. Shedeur is just on there because he has the talent, but that Colorado o-line and defense will hold him back.
Power Four Conference Predictions
ACC
Tumblr media
The Frontrunner: Florida State Seminoles The Contenders: Miami Hurricanes, Clemson Tigers, NC State Wolfpack The Darkhorses: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets the Meat Life Prediction: Miami Hurricanes
Is it cheating that we already saw one ACC game? Florida State is the defending ACC champ, but they looked nothing like a defending champion. The offense seems stale with DJ U under center. Georgia Tech on the other hand looks tough and should be in a dog fight every game. The popular pick this preseason is Miami with transfer QB Cam Ward at the helm of the offense. Clemson still has Dabo calling the shots so they will still be a contender for the conference he dominated for so many years. NC State taking the same approach as Miami with an experienced transfer Grayson McCall of Coastal Carolina fame.
No love for the new teams in the ACC though. SMU looked rough having to scratch out a win against Nevada last weekend. Stanford and Cal have not made an impact on the national or even conference scene in quite some time and probably still won't this season.
Big Ten
Tumblr media
The Frontrunner: Oregon Ducks The Contenders: Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions The Darkhorses: Nebraska Cornhuskers, Iowa Hawkeyes the Meat Life Prediction: Oregon Ducks
This is probably the opposite of impact pick ups on the conference level. Oregon may not have won the Pac-12 in its last season, but they have all the pieces including the trigger man to win in their first season of the Big Ten. They'll get to prove it as they host Ohio State and travel to defending champ Michigan.
Michigan will be in its first season of the official Sharrone Moore era as Jim Harbaugh has moved on to the Los Angeles Chargers. They will still have the defense and run game that won the Big Ten last year. Ohio State will have transfer QB Will Howard and new OC Chip Kelly to try to get over the hump in probably the most pressure-filled season for Ryan Day since he got there. Penn State will only have to face Ohio State on the schedule this year, though they do have conference newcomer USC. And then I just put Nebraska and Iowa as dark horses because it'll be interesting to see two of the teams that benefited from the divisional format in a division-less Big Ten.
On a related note, is USC's Lincoln Riley on the hot seat? Riley's squad will have LSU in the opener and then play Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame on the schedule. Oof.
Big 12
Tumblr media
The Frontrunner: Utah Utes The Contenders: Oklahoma State Cowboys, Kansas State Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, Arizona Wildcats The Darkhorses: West Virginia Mountaineers, Colorado Buffaloes the Meat Life Prediction: Utah Utes
Another former Pac-12 school getting picked as the front runner of their new conference. Utah is stacked on defense and QB Cam Rising entering his 20th year (haha) leading the offense. Arizona is also another interesting former Pac-12 team, having returning many of the same personnel they had for the bowl win against Oklahoma last season.
The stallworths of the remaining "old guard" of the Big 12 will be in contention. Ollie Gordon running the ball and 22nd year QB Alan Bowman (haha) will have OSU in a good position to contend for the conference. Kansas State's QB Avery Johnson and Kansas's QB Jalon Daniels are great stories and will keep the offenses flowing.
I feel like West Virginia always overperforms and will make the conference race interesting. And I have to put the hype train Colorado as a dark horse, but I don't believe they will go to the title game. Too many variables, even with the talent in certain spots.
SEC
Tumblr media
The Frontrunner: Georgia Bulldogs The Contenders: Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas Longhorns, Tennessee Volunteers The Darkhorses: Oklahoma Sooners, Missouri Tigers, LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies the Meat Life Prediction: Georgia Bulldogs
Until anyone else can knock Georgia off, they will be the lead. So much talent, particularly on the lines of scrimmage. They took the torch from Nick Saban's Alabama dynasty from a few years ago. I do thing DeBoar will have a great team to challenge Georgia.
The rest of the field has strengths to varying degrees. On offense - Ole Miss, Tennessee, and LSU will have it cranking. Ole Miss just has a lot of great talent but most of them just got there from the transfer portal so that'll be interesting to see how they mesh. Tennessee is breaking in a new QB in Nico. LSU as well, but LSU does not have a defense.
Missouri I put on there as a dark horse mainly because they have the easiest schedule outside of Austin. A&M has talent, and has been having talent. But they are the opposite of West Virginia, constantly underperforming. And then there is Texas. Many key pieces from last year are gone but they have a ton of talent. It will be interesting for them because they have lost two RBs to injury in Christian Clark and CJ Baxter, both trying to fill the void left by Jonathan Brooks who has moved on to the NFL.
The 2024 Outlook for the Oklahoma Sooners
Tumblr media
The Sooners break in new co-offensive coordinators in Seth Lattrell and Joe John Finley and a new defensive coordinator Zac Alley. While this might cause some pause, Lattrell is a former head coach at North Texas whose offenses ranked among the top in the country. Alley is a Venables disciple from his days at Clemson who DC's at Jacksonville State to the top third in the country in total defense. And all three are former Sooners.
Oklahoma breaks in sophomore QB Jackson Arnold, the 5-star phenom who has talent and is surrounded by talent but who will be behind a bit of an experiment in line ups at offensive line.
The defense has many familiar faces in the second and third levels and is probably the strongest unit. LB Danny Stutsman and S Billy Bowman are difference-makers and have made most of the preseason player award and All-American lists. They have a mix of established players and newcomers on the defensive line.
Looking at all of this, I think this team is a contender in the SEC. Now, the SEC didn't do any favors with the schedule. 6 ranked opponents, the most of the SEC team schedules. But as they say, diamonds are created under pressure.
Tumblr media
I think it is realistic to say that this team goes 9-3 and be in contention for a playoff spot. I think if OU does that, the season will be a success given this is the first season in the SEC. I can easily see a case where the Sooners finish anywhere between 7-5 and 10-2, but I think 9-3 is correct. I think the losses will be Ole Miss and LSU on the road and Alabama at home. I hope I'm wrong and we go into the Alabama game undefeated and in the hunt for an SEC championship spot. But wishful thinking, I suppose.
College Football Playoff Prediction
Tumblr media
The seeding is a bit funky since the top four seeds are the top four ranked conference winners and then the top Group of Five conference winner gets a bid (in my prediction - Boise State). The rest are just based on who I think would make it in the seeds left. This is the first year doing one of these, so I would imagine it would feel more natural every year following this one.
I'll drop my EA Sports College Football 25 appreciation post soon. I've also been working on a Christopher Nolan post that's saved in my drafts.
Enjoy the college football season, everyone!

My Favorite Movies
Check out my latest blog post for a lighthearted take on some of my favorite movie plots.
I have a hard time narrowing my list down to just ten, but I will try. The one about the underdog sports team full of lovable losers. Somehow they win the championship. I like it because nothing says believable like a bunch of underachievers who couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat suddenly becoming world champs after one pep talk from a guy in a tracksuit. It’s like watching Congress…

5 key talking points ahead of a unique 111th edition of the Tour de France
Sign up to our free sport newsletter for all the latest news on everything from cycling to boxing Sign up to our free sport email for all the latest news The Tour de France is known as a stickler for tradition, but the 111th running will look like no edition to have gone before. Here, the PA news agency takes a look at the key talking points for what is shaping up to be a unique Tour. It’s a long way to Paris It’s a Tour cliche. For at least the first two weeks and usually much of the third, barely a rider interview goes by without them warning “It’s a long way to Paris” as they consider the hurdles still to be overcome. But this year the old saying will be a true in a very different way. For the first time ever the Tour will not finish in the capital, or even visit it. Preparations for the Olympic Games mean the Tour must steer clear and will instead finish just about as far away as possible while still being in France, with a time trial in Nice. A fight to the end? Some love it, some hate it. The traditional procession that has, for decades now, preceded the usual stage 21 sprint finish on the Champs-Elysees divides opinion – with many complaining it is not a real race. But there are no worries about that this year as the shift to the French Riviera prompting a total rethink and a closing time trial that means the battle for yellow is genuinely a 21-stage affair. The last time the Tour finished with a time trial was 1989, and the unforgettable drama of Greg LeMond snatching overall victory away from an ailing Laurent Fignon by just eight seconds. Giro country The Tour will break new ground this year with a start in Florence – the first time the race has set off from Italy. Stepping on the toes of the Giro d’Italia, the opening three days will feature several climbs made famous by Italy’s own Grand Tour and also add (yet) another country to the long list to have been visited by the race when the peloton passes through San Marino on stage two. Cav’s limited opportunities Idris Elba and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer meet families of knife crime victims at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith, London (Stefan Rousseau/PA) (PA Wire) A year after a crash ended what was due to be his final Tour on stage eight, Mark Cavendish is back for one more shot at a record-breaking 35th stage win. According to the race profile there are eight flat stages but in reality, only five are likely to produce bunch sprints and between them is a parcours which Cavendish – speaking at least year’s route presentation – said left him “in shock” because of how difficult it is. The fast men will have to survive the mountains just to get their somewhat meagre opportunities. Is it too hard? Cavendish was not the only one to raise eyebrows at a route which opens with 3,600 metres of climbing on the very first day and keeps the brutal challenges coming all the way to the very end. The race will be on from the very start with no let up, but that may or may not be a good thing. Designing a course that has every rider on their limit can often suppress attacks, with nobody willing to take risks. Such an approach is anathema to Tadej Pogacar, but it remains to be seen how much his dominant ride at the Giro took out of him. Source link via The Novum Times
