I wish discord emoji makers people made aac "core" word icons and just icons for aac in general ..it would be cool to upgrade coughdrop to have cool/cute new emojis but words like "I" , "am" etc aren't really made , emotions are really..
I mean setting up the app is really overwhelming for me anyway ..option still nice ..maybe to do it little bit by little until eventually done if those emojis existed that is..

AACs are important for autistics that deal with communication issues. When your mouth parts don't work (verbal loss/ nonspeaking, semispeaking, selectively mute etc) or hell, you don't want to use verbal communication. And that's valid too.
There are plenty of auties that use both verbal and nonverbal communication. There are plenty of auties that prefer nonverbal communication. And that's okay.
we have semiverbal/speaking and nonverbal/speaking alters, alters who have verbal loss. a little too a lot.
in our life we've been forced to be verbal and that's not okay. our system is full of AAC users.
This is our oc Moon (which we wanna change their name) they're an AAC user and uses a wide range of nonverbal communication: communication cards, a tablet with an AAC app, written communication, printed out communication board, and TTS (text to speech). we project oh them. we mainly use text to speech and AAC apps - Honeylily
please remember it's okay to use AACs

visible disability
please remember : I am not trying to divide disabled people . this is just an observation . if you are visibly disabled and have more to add please do .
sometimes , I think about invisible and visible disabilities . how there is often distinctions made between the 2 . but there are different types of visible disability and I think it needs acknowledging . I could be wrong , would like to know what others think .
( type order is random , not based on hierarchy )
first type is visible disability aids that do not attach to the body . things like wheelchair , adaptive equipment , AAC .
second type is disability aids that do attach to the body . things like tube , catheter , trach .
third type is physical differences in behaviour or way of moving . things like dystonia , limp , drooling .
fourth type is physical features on body . things like coarse face features , amputation , scars .
I am saying this because I think my experience as a visibly disabled person ( type 1 and 3 ) is different , often more privilege , than other people . don't have to worry about people pulling out medical devices and cause injury , don't have ' disabled look ' no matter what I do in photos ( a ) . I think there is nuance but nobody I know talks about it and can become confusing when people lump in all visible disabilities because not all experiences the same .
maybe could be nice of someone makes words for them ? not really in to coin terms but if somebody else thinks is a good idea welcome to try it ! think numbers a bit confusing , could make it sound like I am saying one is better or worse than other when I am not trying to .
if you are visibly disabled , what do you think ? is it useful for you or do you think is dividing community ? am open to criticise ( nicely please ) .
( a ) often I look disabled in photos , but is because of my behaviour and when my symptoms not as big and try really really hard can look invisibly disabled in photos . not videos though .

i just wanted to let everyone know about this very simple, free, text to speech aac app. it’s called simple aac.
it’s just text to speech, no buttons or symbols. i know that won’t work for everyone, but hopefully someone finds it useful. i know i appreciate having an aac app on my phone that gives me a reliable way to communicate without having to bring my heavy ipad with me at all times. there’s even a little sentence about trans rights, which i know a lot of us appreciate 🏳️‍⚧️
hope this can help someone!
edit: i don’t know if this is for androids, i use ios

One thing about using aac that is kinda sad for me is I could never really use it during service at the synagogue cause I could never get the timing and cadence and such things correct Like technically I can get it to say the prayers and blessing and use it on my own but it’ll never fit into services quite right

AAC challenge of the day ( day 1 )
Use your device in a place you've never used it before
today I used my AAC in a new place ! I bought a bubble tea all by myself , and for some reason they gave it to me for free . they could understand me easily ! I was still anxious , but it was a really good interaction . actually is technically not bubble tea , but brown sugar milk with pearls .
was out to see my psychiatrist and took bunny with me too !
