This technique enhances user experience by ensuring faster interactions and smoother scrolling.
SEO can benefit from lazy loading as search engines prefer faster websites, potentially improving rankings.
To effectively implement lazy loading, use browser-native features and ensure compatibility across different devices.
Enhancing Web Performance with Lazy Loading
In today's fast-paced digital world, web performance is more critical than ever. Slow websites can drive users away, impacting engagement and conversions. One powerful technique to boost performance is lazy loading. By understanding and implementing lazy loading, you can optimize your website's speed and efficiency, keeping your visitors engaged and satisfied.
Understanding the Need for Speed
Users expect websites to load quickly and efficiently.
Slow loading times can lead to higher bounce rates.
Improved speed enhances user satisfaction and retention.
Most importantly, speed is not just a luxury; it's a necessity. Users are increasingly impatient, and a delay of even a few seconds can cause them to abandon your site. Therefore, ensuring that your site loads swiftly is crucial for maintaining user interest and engagement.
Lazy loading offers a solution by optimizing the loading process. Instead of loading every element of a page at once, lazy loading prioritizes essential content and defers non-essential elements. This approach can make a dramatic difference in how quickly your site feels to users.
Lazy Loading: A Game Changer for Web Efficiency
Lazy loading is more than just a buzzword; it's a transformative technique for web optimization. By deferring the loading of non-essential elements, such as images and videos, until they are needed, lazy loading reduces the initial load time of a webpage.
Images and videos load only when they enter the viewport.
Reduces server requests, enhancing page speed.
Particularly beneficial for mobile users with limited bandwidth.
Besides that, lazy loading helps in conserving resources, which is particularly beneficial for mobile users who might be on limited data plans. By only loading what's necessary, users experience faster interactions and smoother scrolling, which can significantly improve their overall experience.
Eager Loading: When Immediate Isn't Ideal
Eager loading, the opposite of lazy loading, involves loading all page elements at once. While this approach might seem straightforward, it can lead to longer initial load times, especially on content-heavy pages. Therefore, eager loading is not always the best choice, particularly when dealing with large images or videos.
Lazy loading, on the other hand, ensures that your website delivers essential content swiftly, making it an ideal choice for optimizing page speed and improving user experience.
Benefits of Lazy Loading
Lazy loading isn't just about speed; it's about creating a seamless and efficient user experience. Let's delve into the various benefits it offers.
Faster Initial Load Times
By loading only the necessary elements initially, lazy loading significantly reduces the time it takes for a page to become interactive. Users can start engaging with the content almost immediately, without waiting for all elements to load.
This immediate engagement is crucial in retaining user interest. For instance, if your homepage loads quickly, users are more likely to explore further, increasing the chances of conversion.
Additionally, faster load times can have a positive impact on your website's bounce rate. Users are less likely to leave if they don't have to wait for content to load, which can improve your site's overall performance metrics.
Loading Images Efficiently
Images often account for the majority of a webpage's load time. By implementing lazy loading for images, you can significantly improve your page speed. This involves loading images only when they are about to enter the viewport. As a result, users won't have to wait for all images to load before they can interact with your content.
To do this effectively, you can use the loading="lazy" attribute in your image tags. This attribute tells the browser to defer loading the image until it is close to being visible. Additionally, consider using responsive image techniques to serve different image sizes based on the user's device, further optimizing load times.
Handling Videos and Media Content
Videos and other media content can be resource-intensive, causing significant delays in load times if not managed properly. Lazy loading can also be applied to these elements. By embedding videos with lazy loading techniques, you ensure they only load when a user scrolls to them.
For example, instead of directly embedding a video, use a thumbnail image with a play button overlay. When the user clicks the play button, the video loads and plays. This not only saves bandwidth but also improves the initial loading speed of the page.
JavaScript and CSS Deferred Loading
JavaScript and CSS files are essential for modern web applications, but they can also be a bottleneck if not handled correctly. Lazy loading these resources involves deferring their loading until they are needed. This can be achieved using the defer and async attributes for JavaScript files.
The defer attribute ensures that the script is executed after the HTML document has been parsed, while the async attribute allows the script to be executed as soon as it's available. For CSS, consider using media queries to load stylesheets conditionally based on the user's device or viewport size.
Tips for Optimizing Lazy Loading
Implementing lazy loading is just the beginning. To truly optimize your website's performance, follow these additional tips and best practices.
Use Browser Native Features
Modern browsers offer native support for lazy loading, making it easier than ever to implement this technique. By using native features, you can ensure compatibility and reduce the need for third-party libraries, which can add unnecessary overhead.
To take advantage of these features, simply add the loading="lazy" attribute to your image and iframe tags. This simple addition can have a significant impact on your page speed, especially for image-heavy sites.
Besides, using native features ensures that your site remains future-proof, as browsers continue to enhance their support for lazy loading and other performance optimizations.
Minimize Default Image Size
Before applying lazy loading, it's crucial to optimize your images for size. Large images can still slow down load times, even with lazy loading. Use image compression tools to reduce file sizes without sacrificing quality.
Optimize Animations
Animations can enhance user experience, but they can also impact performance if not optimized. Use CSS animations instead of JavaScript whenever possible, as they are more efficient and can be hardware-accelerated by the browser.
Ensure that animations are smooth and don't cause layout shifts, which can negatively affect user experience. Test your animations on different devices to ensure they perform well across the board.
Remember, the goal is to create a seamless experience for your users. By optimizing animations, you can enhance the visual appeal of your site without compromising performance.
Test Across Multiple Devices
It's essential to test your website on a variety of devices and screen sizes. What works well on a desktop might not perform the same on a mobile device. Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to analyze your site's performance and identify areas for improvement.
Regular testing ensures that your lazy loading implementation works as intended across different platforms, providing a consistent experience for all users.
Overcoming Common Lazy Loading Challenges
While lazy loading offers numerous benefits, it's not without its challenges. Addressing these issues ensures that your implementation is successful and doesn't negatively impact your site.
Dealing with SEO Concerns

To ensure your content is indexed, use server-side rendering or provide fallbacks for search engines that may not execute JavaScript. For more insights, check out how lazy loading decreases load time and increases engagement.
Ensure all critical content is available without JavaScript.
Use structured data to help search engines understand your content.
Regularly monitor your site's indexing status in Google Search Console.
These strategies help maintain your site's visibility in search engine results, ensuring that lazy loading doesn't negatively impact your SEO efforts.
Addressing Browser Compatibility Issues
While most modern browsers support lazy loading, some older versions may not. To ensure compatibility, consider using a polyfill or fallback solutions for browsers that don't support lazy loading natively.
By addressing these compatibility issues, you can provide a consistent experience for all users, regardless of their browser choice. Regularly updating your site and testing on different browsers can help you identify and resolve any issues that arise.
Troubleshooting Loading Delays
Even with lazy loading implemented, you might encounter loading delays. This often happens when elements are not optimized or when there are too many third-party scripts running on your site. To troubleshoot these issues, start by identifying the elements that are causing delays. Use tools like Google Chrome's Developer Tools to pinpoint these elements and analyze their loading times.
Once you've identified the culprits, consider compressing images, deferring non-essential scripts, and minimizing the use of third-party plugins. By doing so, you can significantly reduce loading times and improve the overall performance of your website.

While traditional hiring methods often rely heavily on resumes and interviews, aptitude testing offers a more objective approach, helping businesses make data-driven decisions. Recruitment aptitude testing goes beyond surface-level impressions, providing a deeper look into a candidate’s skills, problem-solving abilities, and potential for success in a specific role. If you are an employer looking to optimize your hiring process or a job seeker preparing for assessments, understanding the role of recruitment aptitude testing can give you the edge you need.
In this post, we’ll explore what recruitment aptitude testing is, how it works, the benefits it offers to employers, challenges faced by recruiters, and the future of this innovative approach to hiring. We’ll also examine what candidates can expect when facing these tests and how they can leverage their results to unlock career success.

1. What is Recruitment Aptitude Testing?
At its core, recruitment aptitude testing is a systematic process used by employers to measure a candidate's abilities in various areas relevant to the job role. Unlike traditional interviews, which are subjective and can often be influenced by personal biases, aptitude tests provide objective, measurable insights into a candidate's potential.
Definition
Recruitment aptitude tests evaluate a candidate’s cognitive abilities, such as logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, verbal and numerical proficiency, and their ability to think critically. These tests are specifically designed to measure skills and competencies that are essential for job performance, making them a reliable tool for predicting future job success.
Types of Aptitude Tests
Cognitive Ability Tests: These tests assess general intelligence, including problem-solving, pattern recognition, and abstract thinking. They are used to predict how well a candidate will perform in a given role by testing their ability to learn new concepts and adapt to challenges.
Situational Judgment Tests (SJTs): SJTs present candidates with hypothetical, job-related situations, asking them how they would respond. These tests evaluate decision-making abilities and can reveal how candidates approach problems and make choices under pressure.
Skill-Specific Assessments: Certain roles require specific skills, and aptitude tests can be tailored to measure these abilities. For example, a coding test for a software developer or a language proficiency test for a customer service role.
Personality and Cultural Fit Assessments: These tests measure a candidate’s personality traits and determine if they align with the company culture. While they don’t directly assess job-related skills, they can help identify individuals who are likely to succeed within the organization’s environment.
Key Goals of Aptitude Testing
Objective Evaluation: Aptitude tests provide a standardized and unbiased method for assessing candidates' capabilities.
Reducing Bias: Since aptitude tests focus on skills rather than personal characteristics, they help reduce unconscious biases that may influence hiring decisions.
Role Matching: Aptitude testing ensures candidates are matched to roles that suit their skills and abilities, enhancing job satisfaction and long-term success.
2. The Role of Aptitude Testing in Modern Recruitment
In today’s competitive job market, organizations are increasingly relying on recruitment aptitude testing to streamline their hiring processes. With the demand for top talent higher than ever, businesses can’t afford to rely on traditional hiring methods alone. Recruitment aptitude tests offer a way to cut through the noise and pinpoint the candidates who are most likely to excel in their roles.
Why Skills Matter More Than Ever
Skills-based hiring has become a focal point for many organizations as they look for candidates who can hit the ground running. Traditional qualifications, such as a college degree, are no longer the sole indicators of success. Employers now recognize that hands-on skills and the ability to apply knowledge in real-world scenarios are just as valuable—if not more so—than academic achievements.
Recruitment aptitude testing offers a reliable way to evaluate these hands-on skills. For example, a coding test can show if a software developer is capable of writing efficient code, while a situational judgment test can gauge how a candidate would handle a high-pressure customer service situation.
Data-Driven Decision-Making
Aptitude testing is a data-driven approach to hiring. By using a combination of cognitive and skills assessments, employers can gather concrete evidence to support their hiring decisions. This not only improves the accuracy of decisions but also allows for a more structured and consistent recruitment process.
For instance, in industries like technology and finance, where specific skill sets are crucial, aptitude tests can provide clear insights into whether a candidate has the necessary skills to succeed. With this information, recruiters can confidently move forward with candidates who have the best potential for long-term success.
Benefits for Employers
Reducing Hiring Errors: Aptitude tests can help reduce the risk of making poor hiring decisions by providing an objective measure of a candidate’s skills. This minimizes the chance of hiring someone who doesn’t meet the job requirements, reducing turnover and associated recruitment costs.
Streamlining the Process: When employers use aptitude tests, they can quickly assess multiple candidates on an equal footing. This not only speeds up the hiring process but also ensures consistency in evaluating candidates across different stages of recruitment.
Identifying High-Potential Candidates: Aptitude tests reveal more than just a candidate’s current skill level; they also shed light on their ability to grow and develop in the future. Candidates who excel in these tests are likely to perform well and adapt quickly to new challenges, making them valuable assets to any team.
3. Designing Effective Aptitude Tests
Creating an effective aptitude test requires careful consideration of various factors. It's important to ensure that the tests are relevant, fair, and scientifically validated to provide accurate insights into a candidate’s capabilities.
Key Elements of a Good Test
Relevance to Job Roles: The test should measure skills that are directly relevant to the position. For example, a marketing role might include tests focused on creativity, communication, and problem-solving, while an engineering role might include tests on technical abilities like math and logical reasoning.
Fairness and Inclusivity: A well-designed test must be inclusive, ensuring that it does not favor one group of candidates over another. This includes avoiding cultural or gender biases that could affect the results.
Scientific Validation and Reliability: It’s essential that aptitude tests are scientifically validated to ensure they measure what they are intended to measure. Reliable tests help recruiters confidently rely on the results when making decisions.
Customization for Industry Needs
Different industries require different skills, and this should be reflected in the design of the aptitude tests. For example, a financial firm might prioritize numerical reasoning and analytical skills, while a creative agency might focus on problem-solving and communication. Customizing the tests to suit industry-specific requirements ensures that the assessments are both relevant and useful in evaluating candidates for the role.
Balancing Automation and Human Judgment
While automation in recruitment processes offers efficiency, it’s important not to remove the human element entirely. Recruiters should combine test results with their judgment and experience to assess the overall suitability of a candidate for the role. Aptitude tests should be seen as a tool to complement, not replace, human judgment.
4. Challenges in Using Recruitment Aptitude Tests
Despite their advantages, recruitment aptitude tests can present challenges for employers. Recognizing these challenges and addressing them can help organizations use these tests more effectively.
Common Pitfalls
Over-Reliance on Test Scores: While aptitude tests provide valuable insights, they should not be the sole factor in hiring decisions. A candidate's experience, cultural fit, and soft skills are also crucial elements to consider.
Lack of Customization: Generic tests that aren’t tailored to specific job roles can provide irrelevant or misleading results. Customizing tests to align with the requirements of the role is essential to their success.
Mitigating Bias
Despite efforts to create unbiased tests, there is always the potential for bias in recruitment processes. Ensuring that tests are free from bias—whether it's gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic—requires careful design and regular reviews of test content and application.
Cost and Implementation
Developing and implementing aptitude tests can be costly, especially if they require specialized software or platform integration. However, the long-term benefits—reduced turnover, faster hiring, and improved candidate quality—can outweigh the initial costs.
5. The Candidate’s Perspective
As a candidate, aptitude tests can be both exciting and intimidating. But understanding what to expect and how to prepare can turn these tests into an opportunity for growth.
Preparing for Aptitude Tests
The key to success in aptitude testing is preparation. Familiarize yourself with the types of tests you may encounter, whether it’s a coding test, logical reasoning challenge, or a personality assessment. There are numerous online resources and practice tests available that can help you hone your skills.
Transparency in Testing
Employers should always explain the purpose of the aptitude tests to candidates. This ensures that candidates understand how the results will be used and what the tests are designed to measure. When candidates feel informed and prepared, they are more likely to perform well.
Feedback and Growth
Aptitude tests can provide valuable feedback on areas where you excel and areas for improvement. Whether or not you succeed in passing a test, use the results as a learning experience to sharpen your skills and prepare for future opportunities.
6. The Future of Recruitment Aptitude Testing
Recruitment aptitude testing is rapidly evolving, with new trends and technologies shaping its future.
Trends to Watch
AI and Machine Learning: Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are increasingly being integrated into aptitude testing platforms. These technologies enable adaptive testing, where the difficulty of questions adjusts based on a candidate’s responses, providing a more accurate assessment of their abilities.
Gamification: Many employers are experimenting with gamified recruitment assessments that make the testing process more engaging for candidates. These tests often focus on skills such as problem-solving and creativity and provide real-time feedback, making the process both interactive and informative.
Evolving Employer-Candidate Dynamics
As recruitment aptitude testing becomes more widespread, the dynamic between employers and candidates will continue to evolve. Candidates may be more likely to view these tests as a standard part of the hiring process, while employers will benefit from a broader, more diverse pool of candidates.
Ethical Considerations
As recruitment aptitude testing becomes more integrated into hiring practices, ethical considerations around data privacy and fairness will become more important. It’s crucial for organizations to ensure that the tests are used responsibly and that candidates’ personal information is kept secure.
Recruitment aptitude testing is a game-changer in the hiring process. It allows employers to make data-driven decisions, reduce hiring errors, and match candidates to roles that suit their skills and abilities. As a candidate, preparing for and understanding these tests can give you a competitive advantage in securing the role you desire. As both employers and candidates embrace recruitment aptitude testing, we can expect to see more efficient, fair, and effective hiring practices that pave the way for career success.

While human translators are often required for this task, AI-powered language translation tools have significantly enhanced the accuracy and speed of translations.
AI-driven translation engines, like Google Translate, DeepL, or specialized localization platforms, have evolved to offer higher quality translations. These tools not only understand basic language structures but also comprehend context, tone, and intent behind a text. For example, AI can distinguish between formal and informal language usage or identify cultural nuances that could make a significant difference in user experience.
AI's ability to provide real-time translations and adapt based on context reduces the need for manual intervention in repetitive translation tasks, enabling localization testers to focus on reviewing high-priority issues.
2. Automation of Testing Processes
Localization testing often involves testing a product’s user interface (UI) for correct translation, layout compatibility, and user experience. These tasks can be tedious and repetitive, requiring testers to manually check for text truncation, UI misalignment, and font issues across various languages.
Automation tools have revolutionized this process by running scripts that test the product across multiple language versions simultaneously. These tools can automatically detect issues such as:
Text Overflows: In some languages, the translated text may be longer or shorter than the original, causing truncation or misalignment issues. Automated testing can highlight these discrepancies faster than manual checks.
UI Compatibility: Different languages require different font sizes and character sets, which can affect the layout and appearance of UI elements. Automation tools can ensure the UI remains functional and visually appealing in all localized versions.
Language-Specific Validation: Automated testing tools can validate not only text correctness but also ensure that language-specific elements (such as date formats, currencies, and address formats) are localized appropriately.
By automating these routine tasks, businesses save time, reduce human error, and ensure consistency across multiple localized versions of the product.
3. AI in Localization Testing for Cultural Sensitivity
Cultural adaptation goes beyond just language translation. It involves ensuring that the product does not offend or confuse users from different cultural backgrounds. AI tools can analyze content and alert testers to potential cultural missteps.
For instance, AI algorithms can scan images, color schemes, and content for culturally sensitive issues. Certain colors, symbols, or phrases may have different meanings in different regions, and AI can quickly highlight potential concerns that a human tester might miss.
AI tools can also evaluate the tone and language of translations to ensure they align with cultural norms. In some cases, AI can automatically suggest rephrased translations that are better suited to the target culture.
4. Real-Time Feedback with AI-Driven Chatbots and Virtual Assistants
AI-driven chatbots and virtual assistants are increasingly used in customer support and interface testing. These tools are helpful during localization testing because they simulate real-time interactions with users and can provide immediate feedback on usability, translation, and user experience.
For example, an AI chatbot can simulate a user from a specific locale and interact with the localized version of the product to test the accuracy of conversational interfaces. If an error occurs, the bot can report the issue back to the testing team, providing more specific information on the problem (e.g., incorrect phrasing, unresponsive buttons, or unclear instructions).
These AI-driven assistants can also help test voice interfaces, detecting errors in voice recognition and ensuring that the system understands localized speech patterns.
5. Continuous Localization and Testing with Automation
Localization is no longer a one-time event during the software development lifecycle; it is an ongoing process. With the rise of Agile and DevOps methodologies, software products are being updated and released more frequently. To keep pace with these updates, localization needs to be an integral part of the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
Automation tools can integrate seamlessly with CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that localized versions are tested every time a new update is released. These tools can perform tests automatically after each software build, ensuring that localized content is always up to date. Additionally, they can track issues over time and provide feedback on recurring translation problems or UI issues across multiple versions of the product.
6. Cost and Time Efficiency
One of the biggest advantages of using AI and automation tools in localization testing is the reduction in both time and costs. Manual testing, while effective, is resource-intensive and can take weeks or even months to complete, especially when dealing with multiple languages and regions. Automation tools accelerate this process by quickly identifying common issues and providing accurate feedback.
AI-powered solutions also reduce the need for large teams of testers, as automated systems can handle repetitive tasks with greater speed and accuracy. Additionally, AI-driven translation tools can reduce the costs of human translation and improve the consistency of the translations across different languages.
7. Enhancing User Experience Through Smart Localization
AI and automation tools also improve user experience (UX) by ensuring that localized versions of products perform just as well as their original counterparts. By automating the testing of features like performance, load times, and responsiveness across different language versions, these tools help prevent delays and ensure smooth usability for all users, no matter their location or language.
Moreover, AI-powered analytics tools can provide insights into how localized versions of a product are being used by different regions, allowing businesses to refine and optimize localization strategies based on user behavior data.
Conclusion
The integration of AI and automation tools into localization testing services has transformed how businesses test, refine, and deliver their global products. From AI-driven translations to automated UI testing and real-time feedback, these technologies are enhancing accuracy, speeding up testing cycles, and reducing costs. As the demand for globalized products continues to rise, leveraging AI and automation in localization testing will become increasingly essential for companies seeking to provide seamless, culturally relevant user experiences across multiple markets.
Incorporating these technologies allows businesses to not only ensure that their products are correctly localized but also to keep pace with the ever-changing global market. Ultimately, AI and automation are reshaping the future of localization testing, making it more efficient, accurate, and adaptable than ever before.

hey! did you know that duolingo is turning into an ai-driven company? here's what that means: per the USA Today article posted yesterday on this: "Duolingo is going to be "AI-first", the educational technology company announced, adding that it is replacing contract workers with artificial intelligence."
now yes. duolingo has used ai in the past. in 2024, the Duolingo Guides page reported that their AI uses user data to improve models. however, this did not literally replace human beings in the process.
according to their CEO, they believe this is going to be an example of how "generative AI can directly benefit our learners". despite the fact this doesn't benefit the human contractors you're replacing in place of robots.
here's why supporting AI is problematic: not only does it take away from human beings, but it also is bad for the environment. studies have shown that particularly during the training of complex models, the infrastructure needed to do this training results in high energy consumption.
this also leads to increased greenhouse gas emissions and puts a strain on water resources that are used for cooling data censors. as well, studies show that the manufacturing and disposal of AI hardware contribute to electronic waste and resource depletion.
so, below the cut, there's a list below of language learning apps that do what duolingo does but aren't driven by robots! (and no, you do not have to stop using duolingo. these other apps are simply ones that provide the same services while taking care of both the environment and - as far as i know - human employees.)
Mango Languages (4.8 stars on the Apple App Store) - this app has had really great reviews from people, citing that you can get free access by using your library card (so it supports libraries!) and teaches actual pronunciation whereas duo has been reported for not being accurate with its teachings.
Babbel (4.7 stars on the Apple App Store) - people have rated this app as being easy to use and convenient! they also report that they are backed by researchers at Yale University and Michigan State University, with MSU reporting that after 10 hours, researchers found that 96% of users saw better test scores and 73% became better speakers!
Lingvist (4.6 stars on the Apple App Store) - reviews cite this as a practical app, with one person saying it focuses on repetition and frequently spoken words instead of nouns and verbs you'd rarely use.
any other suggestions in my inbox will be included in this list. stop supporting "AI-first" companies, support human beings.

Hello, everyone!
First off, I’m sorry for even having to post this, and I’m usually nice to everyone I come into contact with, but I received a startling comment on my newest fic, Paint-Stained Hands and Paper Hearts, where I was accused of pumping out the entire chapter solely using AI.
I am thirty-two years old and have been attending University since I was 18 YEARS OLD. I am currently working on obtaining my PhD in English Literature as well as a Masters in Creative Writing. So, there’s that.
There is an increasing trend of online witch hunts targeting writers on all platforms (fanfic.net, ao3, watt pad, etc), where people will accuse them of utilizing AI tools like ChatGPT and otherwise based solely on their writing style or prose. These accusations often come without concrete evidence and rely on AI detection tools, which are known to be HELLA unreliable. This has led to false accusations against authors who have developed a particular writing style that AI models may emulate due to the vast fucking amount of human-written literature that they’ve literally had dumped into them. Some of these people are friends of mine, some of whom are well-known in the AO3 writing community, and I received my first comment this morning, and I’m pissed.
AI detection tools work by analyzing text for patterns, probabilities, and structures that resemble AI-generated outputs. HOWEVER, because AI models like ChatGPT are trained on extensive datasets that include CENTURIES of literature, modern writing guides, and user-generated content, they inevitably produce text that can mimic various styles — both contemporary and historical. Followin’ me?
To dumb this down a bit, it means that AI detection tools are often UNABLE TO DISTINGUISH between human and AI writing with absolute certainty.
Furthermore, tests have shown that classic literary works, like those written by Mary Shelley, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens, frequently trigger AI detectors as being 100% AI generated or plagiarized. For example:
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein has been flagged as AI-generated because its formal, structured prose aligns with common AI patterns.
Jane Austen’s novels, particularly Pride and Prejudice, often receive high AI probability scores due to their precise grammar, rhythmic sentence structures, and commonly used words in large language models.
Shakespeare’s works sometimes trigger AI detectors given that his poetic and structured style aligns with common AI-generated poetic forms.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Love in the Time of Cholera and One Hundred Years of Solitude trigger 100% AI-generated due to its flowing sentences, rich descriptions, and poetic prose, which AI models often mimic when generating literary or philosophical text.
Fritz Leiber’s Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser’s sharp, structured rhythmic prose, imaginative world building, literary elegance, and dialogue-driven narratives often trigger 100% on AI detectors.
The Gettysburg fucking Address by Abraham Lincoln has ALSO been miss classified as AI, demonstrating how formal, structured language confuses these detectors.
These false positives reveal a critical flaw in AI detection: because AI has been trained on so much human writing, it is nearly impossible for these tools to completely separate original human work from AI-generated text. This becomes more problematic when accusations are directed at contemporary authors simply because their writing ‘feels’ like AI despite being fully human.
The rise in these accusations poses a significant threat to both emerging and established writers. Many writers have unique styles that might align with AI-generated patterns, especially if they follow conventional grammar, use structured prose, or have an academic or polished writing approach. Additionally, certain genres— such as sci-fi, or fantasy, or philosophical essays— often produce high AI probability scores due to their abstract and complex language.
For many writers, their work is a reflection of years—often decades—of dedication, practice, and personal growth. To have their efforts invalidated or questioned simply because their writing is mistaken for AI-generated text is fucking disgusting.
This kind of shit makes people afraid of writing, especially those who are just starting their careers / navigating the early stages of publication. The fear of being accused of plagiarism, or of relying on AI for their creativity is anxiety-inducing and can tank someone’s self esteem. It can even stop some from continuing to write altogether, as the pressure to prove their authenticity becomes overwhelming.
For writers who have poured their hearts into their work, the idea that their prose could be mistaken for something that came from a machine is fucking frustrating. Second-guessing your own style, wondering if you need to change how you write or dumb it down in order to avoid being falsely flagged—this fear of being seen as inauthentic can stifle their creative process, leaving them hesitant to share their work or even finish projects they've started. This makes ME want to stop, and I’m just trying to live my life, and write about things I enjoy. So, fuck you very much for that.
Writing is often a deeply personal endeavor, and for many, it's a way to express thoughts, emotions, and experiences that are difficult to put into words. When those expressions are wrongly branded as artificial, it undermines not just the quality of their work but the value of their creative expression.
Consider writing habits, drafts, and personal writing history rather than immediate and unfounded accusations before you decide to piss in someone’s coffee.
So, whatever. Read my fics, don’t read my fics. I just write for FUN, and to SHARE with all of you.
Sorry that my writing is too clinical for you, ig.
I put different literary works as well as my own into an AI Detector. Here you go.

You were bent over the hood of the SUV, your arms pulled behind your back, your skirt hiked over your ass and your panties tossed to the side as Aaron fucked you from behind. The dark country road he’d driven the two of you on your way out of the hospital deserted, even from wildlife.
“Fuck, I’m sorry,” your screams filled the night air, pleasure and pain blurring together as he continued to pound into you. He didn’t care, he couldn’t care about how bad you were feeling, about how he should’ve probably not been this rough with you. But the doctor had said you didn’t have a concussion, so he’d allowed himself the leniency to be brutal. “It hurts, Aaron, please!”
But he didn’t stop. As much as you were protesting, as much as you claimed you weren’t enjoying the sadistic pace he’d set, he knew deep in his heart that you loved it. You loved it when he showed you who was in charge, who you belonged to, and he also knew that you would take this punishment for your carelessness without question.
“Being sorry is the least you can do,” he spat, words mean and heavy. “You were stupid,” he landed a powerful smack against your ass and you whimpered. “Refused to follow orders,” another blow, the sting only adding to the lightheadedness. “And almost got yourself killed!” he slapped your ass twice to emphasize his words, the weight of them, how your actions had made him feel.
“I’m so sorry, sir,” you sobbed, tears blurring your vision, stinging your eyes. “I didn’t– I didn’t mean for that to happen I was just trying to help.”
Your voice seemed to snap him out of whatever anger fueled trance he was in. He finally took you in, your shivering body, your heavy breathing, the sobs you were desperately trying to conceal.
He gently let go of your hands, giving you a moment to shake out your arms to relieve the pressure. He then stepped further into you, connecting your bodies as far as he could go before he leaned his chest over your back, pressing into you, enveloping you in his warmth.
You whimpered against him, slowly but surely calming down as he ran soothing hands over your body.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he whispered in your ear before placing a kiss on your neck. He was everywhere, you felt him everywhere, the pressure he was putting on you grounding. “I was just so scared, I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
You nodded, your face turning over the cool metal of the hood to face him. “’S okay,” you managed. “I’m sorry I made you worry.”
“I always worry, baby,” he confessed. “Every time you’re out in the field and I’m not there with you…it kills me.”
You let out a breath you hadn’t realized you’d been holding. “I worry too, Aaron,” he kissed your cheek before pressing his own tightly against your temple. “I know you’re this…this confident and strong person but I still worry something might happen and you won’t come home to me.”
The thought alone terrified him. He’d been so consumed by his own fear, his own feelings that he hadn’t stopped to think about how you could possibly feel the same way about him. His heart ached, his cock twitched inside of you and you clenched around him.
“I’ll always come home to you, baby,” he said, gently rocking his hips into you, slow and soft thrusts to show you exactly how he was feeling. “You know why?”
You shook your head, your brain slowly disconnecting from your body as he resumed his previous movements. Only this time they were precise, calculated, meant to pleasure solely. His hand snaked into the front of your panties and his fingers began to lazily rub circles over your clit.
“Because I love you, and there is no way I’m ever going to let anything keep me from coming back to you,” he confessed and all you could do was moan in response. Your sounds egged him on, made him pick up his pace just a little bit. “Tell me you love me,” he commanded, his cock buried to the hilt inside of you.
You squealed, the sensation uncomfortable and painful once more.
“I love you, Aaron,” you slurred, anything to make it stop. He pulled back then, chest overflowing with warmth, heart beating faster than ever before. He rammed back into you, his thrusts moving in tandem with his fingers.
“I love you, I love you, I love you,” you whined, your brain too far gone to think of anything else to say.
Your walls constricted around him, your body tensed and he knew you were close. “Cum for me, come on, show me how much you love me.”
You came undone in seconds, powerful waves of pleasure washing through you and against him. He managed a few more thrusts before he sank himself in you, painting your walls with his spend.
He held onto you tightly, like his life depended on it, gently caressing your body as you both came down from your highs. “I love you so much, baby.”
I need a fucking cigarette dude.

Why most of what you've heard about NaNoWriMo is wrong and why that matters.
So, word on the streets is that the NaNoWriMo organisation have driven the challenge into the ground since they took it over, and are now promoting generative AI as an acceptable way to win the challenge. If your eyebrows aren't raising at even part of that, buckle up
Let's start with the easy one. Was NaNoWriMo better before the organisation took it over? No. That's not a matter of opinion, it's just a matter of chronology. The NaNoWriMo organisation was founded as the Office of Letters and Light in 2005, by the people who started the event in 1999. There was no NaNoWriMo before the organisation. Hell, the organisation pre-dates a lot of the people complaining that it was better before it took over.
So straight up, there's a fairly blatant piece of misinformation that's going round as fact.
Is NaNoWriMo promoting AI to win? Also no, but with more of a hand waggle. The organisation's stance is, as it has been since I started doing it (2004, by the way, so you could argue that I do remember the pre-org days), is "Sure you can but why would you?" Back then you had to write your own algorithm, and quite frankly it was easier to write the novel. But the prizes were better back then. Once upon a time you could get a free bound proof copy of your novel and stuff. Now you just get bragging rights and 50% off Scrivener. So you can, but why would you?
Is NaNoWriMo sponsored by generative AI? Eh, sort of. One of their big sponsors is ProWritingAid, a fiction editing tool like Word's spell checker but with more tools and gizmos. It is AI, much like any spell checker, and like most spell checkers it is more A than I. It has some very useful bits, and some frustrating bits. It will not, however, write your novel for you. You have to do that yourself, and then it will suggest ways to improve it. Sometimes they are useful, sometimes they are very much not.
Why does all of this matter? Two reasons.
1. This idea (reminder, factually incorrect idea) has spread like wildfire, and fanned the flames of vitriolic harassment of the organisation's staff. At best it's just been unpleasant, at worst ableist and racist. The attitude of "If they don't want to be harassed, they shouldn't do things we disapprove of" is a familiar one that is bad enough when it's based on facts. When it's based on misinformation that no one can be bothered to do a 30 second check on, it's even worse.
2. 30 seconds. That's all it would take to go and check the NaNoWriMo sponsors page and see that there is no generative AI there. Or to go and read the Wikipedia page and follow the ship of Theseus and see that NaNoWriMo is the organisation. It's so easy. And people can't be bothered. And this at a time when we know that misinformation is rife and dangerous. If this passed your sniff test, what else have you passed on without checking?
We all need to get better at this. It was easy for me because I was there.gif. I remember those halcyon days. If I didn't, would I have nodded along? I hope not, but hope isn't enough. We've got to check.

i hate when people make their opinion on ai to be either it’s the best thing the human race has ever invented or the thing that will kill humans and their creativity when it’s so obviously neither. trying to idolize it will make it impossible for creatives to strive and trying to fully ban it will send us moving backwards.
i always think of ai the same way you’d think of calculators. in the math community, lots of people thought calculators would make it so no one would ever use math again, when obviously that’s not true. think about how you use one in class: helps with the mundane, simple equations, or the ones that take too much time to do by hand when you’re in a scenario where you need numbers fast. you still learn how to do it the mechanical way, you still have to know how to calculate by hand, but after you’ve mastered all that, the calculator will be able to do it for you when you don’t what to. this notion goes further when discussing testing, as harder sections of tests usually are the only parts that allow calculators of any kind. of course, you can use a calculator to its fullest and find the answer to virtually any math problem you’d need to, but most of us don’t, right? i believe that ai can be used in this same way, since it’s already been so integrated within our lives.
now i’m in no way saying that we should accept it completely with open arms, and of course i recognize that it has a lot more power than a standard calculator, the important thing to take away from its emergence is moderation. it’s clearly not going to go away any time soon so the best thing to do is to use it in small doses for minimal tasks. i for one use it almost every day, but solely for things like generating practice problems for chemistry or language review worksheets. it’s truly ALL about how you are using the tool. when it’s writing full papers or generating artwork, it’s a whole different story, but it can be used in ways that improve ourselves without making us less intelligent or driven.
i’d love to live in a world where ai never existed but as it’s getting implemented into school curriculums and every social media platform is making their own ai bot i think people need to be aware about the ethical ways you yourself can use ai. i am no supporter but i am just thinking realistically. no it will not take over our lives, no it will not cause the death of creativity, because as long as we are alive that will be alive. both glorifying it and making it into a supervillain will make no progress. i’m not telling anyone to support my perspective, just take some time to think about how ai could be put to use in society in an ethical way, not to replace humans, but to better ourselves.
#rant bcs i was talking to my 2 friends#one who uses it constantly and one who detests it#i hate using it but i feel like people should know it WILL become a daily tool in the near future#and that you shouldn’t be losing sleep over that notion#sorry if i sound like a tech bro i promise im not#just want to share my idea#𐙚 rants
