In a normal year, @flourish & I would have made a list of five big fandom trends for our annual "Year in Fandom" round-up. But the podcast is on hiatus, and I was left with MANY THOUGHTS about fanfiction seeming to break containment this year and nowhere to put them. So this is a "Year in Fandom" segment of sorts, about a set of related fanfiction trends that I'm pretty unhappy about!

I get that sense that a lot of fandom folks are, like me, worried about the way the ground seems to be shifting beneath us: in meta after meta, I’ve seen frustration over a larger but increasingly passive fic readership; dismay that traditional publishing has a growing influence over a practice that partly exists in opposition to it; and anger that some guy can just copy-paste your work and charge money for it, and no one outside of fandom seems to care.

A layer of fresh snow.

Once we're allowed to focus solely on our main protagonists, the vibe of AYS shifts drastically from playful to softly melancholic. The scenery has a marked effect on them. Is this that youth they keep talking about?

Well, we're seeing it fall through their fingers as they try to grab it with both hands. This is a turning point, and they both know it. Once you've experienced a couple of these, you start to head into them with eyes wide open. One of them is welcoming it with a positive attitude, the other, less so.

The opening scene sets the stage for this mood. I got an ask about this moment because it seems like Jimin is markedly quiet or introverted (just look at his body language compared to other promo segments!) compared to Jungkook, who is laser focused on Jimin. Was Jimin tired, hungover, sick, or sad? Who knows. This is what we're working with, and as the opening scene of season 3 of AYS, it says a lot about the tone they're settling on;

Cementing old memories with a layer of fresh ones.

The show finally landed on the final concept, it seems. There's less of a focus on what they're doing. Making memories is the main goal. There's a focus on the landscape, but it's all emotionally linked to jikook. We're looking at the world through their eyes. It's not so much the surroundings that matter here, or where they are exactly, as it's who they're experiencing it with and how they're enjoying it from inside their little snow globe.

There are whole scenes in which 'nothing' actually happens, no activity, no 'point' to the scene other than its jikook moving from point A to B while enjoying the snow. That's kind of wild, a show with little to no dramatic arc, and the intimacy takes center stage.

The cold makes them seek warmth from a hot drink, a warm cafe, and life is suddenly made simpler. A shelter from the storm. If this isn't a metaphor for their lives at the time of filming, then I don't know what is.

How can we talk about this episode and not mention the Train to Busan Boys scene? It will go down in history as my roman empire. They're enjoying the view while sharing earphones. What makes this moment even more intimate is the fact that we as an audience are not let into what they are listening to. We're not seeing their faces either, but we're seeing the effect this moment has on them : Seeking a shoulder to lean on. Again, the metaphors are writing themselves.

I will never get over this.

Are You Sure?! Episode 3 observations

The entire theme and purpose of AYS has been changed in the Jeju segment. It seems there is no connection to the previous episodes. What was supposed to be a travel show through which Jimin and Jungkook would allow themselves to idealize their trip to become this memory of youthfulness right before enlistment, it has now turned into a Run BTS episode. One that has been made and edited with an entire different audience in mind.

The Connecticut episodes showed two adult men acting like adults. Goofy at some points, but it was something catered towards an adult audience as well. That was evident from the conversations they were having as well.

The Jeju episode so far seems completely disconnected through two means: a larger focus on activities mixed with child-like down time and the difference in dynamics between JM and JK in what is conceptually their show as a pair and how it has to adapt in the presence of a guest.

AYS somehow managed to show in the first two episodes a bit of a more complex look at the Jimin and Jungkook relationship that also included an element of intimacy that was heavily present throughout their trip. Once in Jeju with their guest, it quickly became apparent that for those familiar with BTS variety content before the hiatus, that the audience will not witness anything new that they haven't seen before. The trio vminkook in 2023 was the same as the one doing a wlive a couple of years before or paired in a run bts episode. It remains a surface-level dynamic that has barely changed because it is not meant to show that when they know the usual recipe works for the fandom at large. Acting as buffoons is what army wants. (Consequently, the Jeju episodes might have the biggest ratings due to that exact reason).

Nevertheless, small comments and more subtle things have made some cracks that open a door into what might exist right underneath the surface.

Demanding to be on a trip two days before the flight had obviously led to changes in itinerary and sleeping arrangements. It had also showed that there was a push for the guest to be on the show coming from him and a bit of displease with that, disguised as jokes and subtle jabs throughout the first day on the island.

Jimin being sick again and suffering from nausea in the first part of the day had a contribution to how the activities moved forward. It became apparent that he is not only the glue of the trio, but also the one constantly aware that they are in the role of entertainers. Even so, sickness can do enough that his energy level in the afternoon was clearly low. Tagging along and being half enthusiastic to an activity-packed day.

Depending on the context and the people surrounding him, it's interesting to notice Jungkook's level of involvement and the way he chooses to behave. Theme park and water guns in the situation in which he's influenced to goof around are quite different than a trip in which he can show more of his mature side with someone that is on his wavelength.

Around this time in December, we usually wrap up Fansplaining with “The Year in Fandom”: a look back at five trends from the prior year followed by five trends from the year coming to a close. With Flourish’s departure this summer, the podcast is now on hiatus—but Elizabeth had a lot of thoughts about 2024, particularly when it came to fanfiction. Many thanks to Flourish for looking this over; in a way, it’s a “Year in Fandom” segment in spirit.

From for-profit Etsy bindings at the start of the year to the guy we learned lifted a whole bunch of fic for his bad AI site just last week, it's been quite the year for people trying to profit off of fanfiction.

But these trends sat side by side with a broader fandom conversation about fic mainstreaming: we saw skyrocketing numbers of readers, but endless posts from fic writers talking about how disconnected they felt from these new audiences:

A decade and a half after decoupling where the fanfiction lives from where the people live, we’re seeing what happens when fanfiction scales—but participatory fan communities do not. And as the appetite for fic seems to be increasing exponentially on all sides, where does that leave the writers who create it?

The best way to think of the slop and spam that generative AI enables is as a brute force attack on the algorithms that control the internet and which govern how a large segment of the public interprets the nature of reality. It is not just that people making AI slop are spamming the internet, it’s that the intended “audience” of AI slop is social media and search algorithms, not human beings. 

What this means, and what I have already seen on my own timelines, is that human-created content is getting almost entirely drowned out by AI-generated content because of the sheer amount of it. On top of the quantity of AI slop, because AI-generated content can be easily tailored to whatever is performing on a platform at any given moment, there is a near total collapse of the information ecosystem and thus of "reality" online. I no longer see almost anything real on my Instagram Reels anymore, and, as I have often reported, many users seem to have completely lost the ability to tell what is real and what is fake, or simply do not care anymore.

Right after they are back from the break, the fan event was in full swing, with laughter and cheers filling the large hall as Aespa and Y/n took the stage. Bright lights and colorful banners covered the venue, and the energy from the fans was infectious. Each of the girls had been in high spirits all day, feeding off the excitement from the crowd as they interacted with their fans in a series of fun activities.

The event had been organized to give back to the fans after the international tour, and there was no shortage of amusing moments and heartfelt interactions.

Y/n stood to the side of the stage, watching as each of the girls took turns answering questions from the audience. He was mostly focused on keeping things running smoothly, but he couldn’t help but smile at the fans’ reactions to their favorite idols.

The first challenge of the day was a guessing game, where the members had to identify obscure fan-made memes about themselves.

“Oh no… I already know where this is going,” Karina groaned, her hand covering her face as the first meme—a horribly distorted picture of her making a funny expression—appeared on the screen.

The fans erupted in laughter as Giselle leaned over, trying to keep a straight face. “Is that supposed to be you?”

Karina glared at her playfully. “That’s not me. That’s a cursed image.”

Meanwhile, Winter and Ningning were already laughing uncontrollably as they scrolled through the memes, and Y/n couldn’t help but chuckle along with them.

When it came time for the fan challenges, Y/n was pulled onstage as a surprise. The fans erupted in cheers when they saw him, especially when a video clip of his viral “Supernova” dance incident played on the big screen.

Y/n felt his face flush as the clip continued, much to the amusement of both the fans and the girls.

“Oh my god, please turn it off,” Y/n groaned, trying to cover his face with his hands. "Why am I so monumental in the aespa lore?"

Karina and Giselle were practically on the floor laughing at this point, while Ningning offered him a pat on the back. “Don’t worry, oppa. It’s legendary now.”

Winter, standing beside him, grinned. “Yeah, it’s pretty iconic.”

Y/n shot her a look, his embarrassment slowly fading under the warmth of her teasing. He hadn’t forgotten their conversation from Sokcho, and ever since that day, things between him and Winter had shifted—subtly but undeniably. Now, every little joke or smile carried a new weight, a quiet acknowledgment of what they shared.

As the fan event continued, Y/n and the girls participated in a dance battle and several hilarious fan challenges, but what stood out the most was the final Q&A segment, where fans asked the girls what their favorite memories were from the tour.

When Winter was asked the same question, she smiled softly. “My favorite memory… It was when we had a quiet day in Sokcho. Just me and this idiot here.”

The fans erupted in cheers, and Y/n, standing nearby, felt his heart skip a beat. Winter glanced at him, a knowing smile on her lips. The confession they’d shared wasn’t public knowledge, but little moments like these reminded him that they had something special. Something that was just for them.

A few days after the fan event, Y/n found himself standing in the middle of the dorm’s living room, which had been completely transformed into a winter wonderland. Karina had taken charge of the decorations, insisting on stringing Christmas lights all over the room, while Ningning and Giselle were busy putting up the tree.

Winter, of course, was watching from the couch, sipping hot chocolate. “You know, this is why I love Christmas. I get to sit here and watch you guys do all the work.”

“Excuse me?” Karina called out from the ladder, where she was attempting to put the star on top of the tree. “You could at least help with the lights.”

Winter waved her off, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Nah, you’re doing great.”

Y/n stood in the kitchen, trying to handle the logistics of cooking a Christmas dinner. He wasn’t exactly a chef, but he wanted to surprise the girls with something special. The turkey, however, was proving to be his greatest challenge.

“Uh, Y/n?” Giselle called from the living room. “Do you smell something burning?”

“My love for you, unnie?” Winter quickly shaped a heart with her hands.

“Umm, very cute. But something is actually burning.”

Y/n’s eyes widened as he rushed to the oven, pulling out a slightly charred turkey. “Sht.”

Ningning peeked her head in, stifling a laugh. “Well, at least we have side dishes, right?”

Y/n groaned, staring at the ruined bird. “I tried.”

Winter got up from her spot on the couch, padding into the kitchen and peering over his shoulder at the turkey. “It’s not that bad. We can still eat it… maybe.”

Y/n shot her a look. “Are you just saying that because you feel bad for me?”

Winter grinned, leaning closer. “Maybe.”

"Tsk, thought in a relationship will finally make you less savage."

Despite the turkey disaster, the rest of the dinner was surprisingly successful. They managed to gather around the table with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and a whole lot of side dishes, laughing over Y/n’s kitchen mishaps.

After dinner, they all gathered around the Christmas tree, exchanging gifts. Karina got a fancy set of makeup brushes from Ningning, the maknae got a new bracelet, Giselle received a new game console, and Winter was gifted a cozy sweater.

When it was Y/n’s turn, Winter handed him a small, neatly wrapped package. “This is for you,” she said softly, her eyes twinkling with a bit of nervousness.

Y/n opened the gift carefully, revealing a framed photo of the two of them as children. It was from one of their earliest memories together—back when they had first met. He stared at it for a long moment, a wave of nostalgia hitting him.

“Jeong…” he began, his voice catching slightly.

She smiled softly. “I found it a while ago and thought it would be nice to remind you of how far we’ve come. From childhood friends to… this.”

Y/n felt his chest tighten with emotion as he looked at the photo. It wasn’t just a memory—it was a reminder of how deeply connected they were, of the years of friendship that had blossomed into something more.

“Thank you,” he whispered, his voice barely above a breath.”my girlfriend’s the best.”

Winter smiled, her eyes soft as she leaned against him. “Girlfriend hehehe”

“Boooo, get a room, you two!” Ningning groaned, earning a laugh from everyone.

As the group bicker about their exchanging gifts, Y/n had just finished thanking Winter for the framed photo of their childhood when she leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a whisper so only he could hear.

"That’s not your only gift by the way," she murmured, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. Y/n blinked, confused, as Winter straightened up, shooting him a playful smile.

He raised an eyebrow, whispering back, "Oh? What’s the other one, then?"

Winter’s gaze lingered on him for a moment before she stood up, the sound of wrapping paper crinkling as she grabbed a second, much smaller gift from behind her. She handed it to him, the tension between them thickening as he carefully unwrapped it. Inside the box was something familiar:

a black collar, one of the gifts the girls had given him earlier on their birthday as a prank.

Y/n stared at it for a second, his heart skipping a beat as Winter leaned in again, this time close enough that he could feel her breath on his ear.

"The real gift," she whispered, her tone sending a shiver down his spine, "comes later. Just… wait until everyone’s asleep."

She straightened up, a teasing smile dancing on her lips as she casually sat back down, acting as though nothing had happened. Y/n swallowed hard, trying to keep his expression neutral as the others continued chatting around them. His mind raced, unable to stop replaying her words and the implications behind them.

Throughout the night, Y/n found himself stealing glances at Winter, who seemed completely at ease, joining in the banter and laughter as if she hadn’t just made a very bold statement. Every now and then, her eyes would meet his, and she’d give him that same teasing smile, making his heart pound just a little harder.

By the time everyone decided to call it a night, Y/n’s nerves were on edge. As they all began heading to their rooms, Winter caught his gaze one last time, raising an eyebrow in silent challenge. She slipped away quietly, disappearing down the hall toward her room.

Y/n stood there for a moment, wondering if she was really serious. The collar in his hand felt heavier than ever, and he realized that the night was far from over.

The others slowly made their way to bed, leaving the house quiet and dimly lit. Y/n hesitated for a few minutes, standing in the hallway, his heart racing as he considered his next move. Eventually, curiosity—and something more—got the better of him. He made his way to Winter’s door, his hand hovering over the handle before knocking softly.

A voice called out from the other side. "Come in."

Taking a deep breath, Y/n opened the door, stepping into the dimly lit room. Winter was there, sitting on the edge of her bed, her expression soft but filled with unmistakable intent. She motioned for him to come closer, her voice low and playful. "I told you there was another gift, didn’t I?"

Y/n approached cautiously, still holding the collar in his hand. "So… you’re serious about this?"

Winter’s smile widened, her eyes glinting with a mixture of excitement and mischief. "Very serious." She reached out, gently taking the collar from him and holding it up between them. "This has a lot of meaning, don’t you think…jagi?"

Y/n swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. "Yeah… I guess it does….honey"

Without another word, Winter leaned in, her lips brushing against his in a soft but electrifying kiss. The room seemed to close in around them, the air charged with the intensity of the moment. Whatever playful teasing had existed before now melted away, replaced by something deeper, something unspoken.

Winter pulled back, her gaze locking onto his with a seriousness that took Y/n by surprise. "This isn’t a prank, Jung Y/n. I meant every word."

Her hand found his, and with a gentle pull, she led him closer, guiding him into her world, where teasing and friendship had blossomed into something undeniable. This night wasn’t just a gift—it was the beginning of something they both had been quietly wanting for a long time.

“Well, show me, Kim Minjeong.”

A few days later, as the new year approached, Aespa and Y/n found themselves gathered together in the living room again. This time, there were no decorations or fanfare—just the five of them, sitting around and reflecting on their journey and eating their breakfast.

"So," Karina began, her eyes flicking around, "What’s next for us?"

There was a brief pause before Giselle chimed in, “More banger albums, for sure. And more tours. Gotta keep the momentum going."

"Maybe more variety shows?" Ningning suggested. "I had so much fun last time. Plus, fans love seeing Y/n fail at games. That should be a regular segment."

Y/n rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide the grin that spread across his face. "Hey, if it means more screentime for me, I’ll take it."

Giselle snorted. "Yeah, but it’s not exactly flattering screentime when you’re constantly falling over yourself."

"Still counts!" Y/n shot back, earning a round of laughter from the table. “It will be my goal to be more popular than Aespa now. You guys set me up for it.”

“Ok, we’ll see.” Karina smirked.

But the lightheartedness didn’t last long. There was a brief lull in the conversation, the gravity of their journey setting in as each member seemed lost in thought. It was Karina who broke the silence.

"We’ve come so far, haven’t we?" she said softly, her voice carrying a note of awe. "I still remember when we were trainees, wondering if we’d even debut. And now… now we’re here."

"More than here," Giselle added, nodding. "We’ve made it."

Ningning smiled, leaning back in her chair. "Sometimes it feels like a dream, you know? Like… everything we’ve done, all the stages, the fans. I still can’t believe it."

Winter, who had been quiet the entire time, finally spoke. "I think… it’s not just about making it. It’s about the people we’ve had with us along the way." Her eyes flicked briefly to Y/n before looking up to the ceiling. "We couldn’t have done it without each other. And without our idiotic yet reliable Y/n."

The room fell silent, the weight of Winter’s words hanging in the air. Y/n felt his heart skip a beat. He hadn’t expected Winter to bring him up, especially in front of everyone, but the way she looked at him made him feel something he hadn’t allowed himself to fully embrace—just how important he had become to them. To her.

"I agree," Karina added, her voice softer now. "Y/n, you’ve been through so much with us, especially in the last few months. We couldn’t have gotten here without you."

"Even with all your clumsiness," Giselle joked, lightening the mood. "Seriously though, you’ve been a tremendous help for us."

Y/n, who had been trying to keep himself composed, felt his throat tighten. "You guys…" He cleared his throat awkwardly. "I don’t know what to say."

Ningning grinned. "How about, ‘You’re welcome, Ningning, for being the greatest influence in my life?’"

“Goddamn it, Ning.” Y/n choked.

The table erupted into laughter, the tension breaking as the mood shifted once again. They continued eating, the atmosphere light and filled with warmth. But throughout the rest of breakfast, Y/n could feel Winter’s eyes on him, a quiet understanding passing between them. They had shared something important way back in Sokcho, and even now, that connection was still there—stronger than ever.

Oh my gosh two days ago (sorry this took me so long to write up, I had to digest it all lol) I saw The View, Stephen Colbert, and All In- and I MET ANDREW AND JOSH!!!! I think this is going to be a long post but just stay with me here 😭😭

1. Okay so first was The View- we had general tickets and stood outside from around 7:30 to 9ish I think? It was so cold 😭😭 thankfully the wind wasn’t too bad

We got inside and got seated and everything, here was my view:

We did two of those shopping segment things and got to go home with a bottle of olive oil imported from Greece and a silk washcloth!!

We had to have our phones off for a majority of the taping, so when it was a commercial break there was this hype lady to talk to the audience- her name was Regina

Anyways, so josh comes on and does his segment (and at the end they told us all we’re going home with a free copy of the book! So im thankful I didn’t already buy a copy lol I was thinking of it)

After his segment he begins talking to Whoopi Goldberg and then Regina is trying to find audience members to talk to and stuff lol

// Side note- I had made bracelets to give everyone! I ran out of time to make Josh a brand new bracelet so I took my book of arnold one I had made to take to BOM with me; here’s a pic:

So I raise my hand and im like “I have a bracelet for josh!!” And then Regina has me pass the bracelet down through the audience to her- Whoopi and josh are still talking, and one of the producers is right by them. Regina gives the producer the bracelet and is like talking to her but she’s still on the mic- then I start talking about how big of a BOM fan I am lol. I brought one of my programs with me so I held it up, along with my sharpie on it; she has me pass that down too!!

Then the producer gets Josh’s attention, and I’m standing up in the audience- I get to talk to him as the producer gives him the bracelet and program lol. My mom snuck her phone: here’s our interaction & transcript below 🫣🫣

Regina: Look, there’s Alaina.

Me: Hi!

Josh: Aw, I really feel like I’m at a Taylor Swift concert.

2. We went to Stephen colbert next- this is less exciting so im just gonna speedrun through lol

Stephen is very nice! He did a Q and A lol it was fun

Josh was the first guest and the segment was def longer than the view. This was cut from the final show but there was a part where they talked about josh interviewing the lord of the rings cast at some zoom thing 5 years ago? At least I think that’s what it was I don’t really remember

Josh thought he was bombing during the interview so I felt really bad lol, I didn’t think he was but he kept talking about how poorly he was doing. I didn’t think the audience was quiet but maybe it just wasn’t reaching the stage?

At the end of the interview he like stood up and leaned over to shake Stephen’s hand but his pants kind of fell down so everyone on my side could see his underwear so that was um interesting (it was firetruck red for anyone who cares??)

Anyway quick shout out to the guy who does stand up before colbert comes on to warm up the crowd, he’s so fantastic

3. (Ok to preface I had to rewrite this entire section because it deleted the first time so im probably gonna go kind of fast here) all in!

Lowkey the show itself was kind of boring and a little terrible but they all did so great in the show!! And our seats were so good too:

I could see andrew the clearest 🙏 i kind of had to move my head to see everyone else lol (he sat in the third chair from the left)

Getting out of the theater was so hard too 😭😭 i was like zigzagging through chairs to get to stage door early… and then even when I got there it was SO crowded🥲🥲 lowkey felt like i was in the hunger games /j thankfully a woman let me stand next to her🙏🙏

Nick came out first!! He’s the one i was most normal to bc he’s the only one I haven’t had a hyperfixation on lmaooo…🫣 he signed my playbill and took a pic with me 🙏

next lin came out!! I gave him the bracelet I made for him and he said thank you 🥲 he was super cute last night. I’ve been a fan of him foreverrrrrrrr so I was super super happy to meet him he was so nice. he also signed my hamilton playbill 🥲🩷

then aidy came out!! i love her sooooo much i started tearing up when i was talking to her lol, i gave her the bracelet i made for her and she was like “this is so cool thank you so much!!” she is/was like one of my favorite snl cast members and i was soooo excited to meet her she’s so pretty and ilhsm🩷🩷

last I saw andrew!! I was kind of distracted cause aidy was right next to me so I didn’t even process at first 😭😭

I gave him my bracelet and he said thanks!! then i told him i’d seen josh earlier and he says hi (which is a lie but whatever sue me lolol). he asked me where i’d seen him and i said the view and lssc. he signed my bom program too!!! that thing is now my most prized possession ngl lol🫣

he was kind of down the line atp but still kind of involved in the conversation with me, so i asked him if i could get a polaroid pic with him (mind you, this camera is my opp and has been giving me problems all day, and had to spend $11 at a duane reade to replace the batteries so i was a little bit nervous lol). the photo was a little awkward and i was really nervous because polaroid doesn’t take the best pics in the dark- thankfully the CAMERA WORKED!! and the pic printed

i asked him to sign it and he said he would, but he was back down the line at this point (and i was a little worried cause the last time i asked a celeb for a pic/autograph was dame judy dench and then she just walked away… i was less nervous abt andrew forgetting though because he’s like 40 and she was like 80). so, i went to the end of the line to try to meet him, but at the same time he walked back to my mom in line to look for me 😭so we missed each other and he went back inside

but! after they closed the stage door i talked to these two other guys and they told me everyone usually comes out the front, so my mom and i ran back through the hotel to get to the front 😭there were a bunch of people there though

like 20 mins later andrew came out and he recognized me and signed my polaroid and took another photo with me 🥹🥹 i was so so so grateful!! he is the sweetest and every time i look at the pic i cant believe its real lol😅😭

oh and then afterwards richard kind just walked up on the sidewalk lol??? i asked him to take a pic and he was like “sure! but then i am going to go upstairs to have champagne with my friends” he’s so cute lol, and then i saw him walking through the lobby in the hotel too lmao I waved to him he’s so cute and sweet🤭

i had the best day ever and everybody was so so so nice. gonna keep the signed polaroid in the back of my phone forever now 😭🙏🙏🩷

౨౿ Joohyung was feeling a bit better since the whole houston concert which she reassure moa that she’s ok and to not worry about her, and enjoy the concert

౨౿ the members kept on playing with Joohyung’s braids causing her to yell ‘ya!’ into the mic making herself startled, and hitting Kai who at the time was the one of the ones messing with her braid

౨౿ “before we head to the next song I wanted to say that I love how you guys dress up for us.” Joohyung pointed at different moas. “I realized that when we go to the US moas like to follow the dress code or wear similar outfits from performances or mvs. They’re really pretty outfits and I love them, and you guys look really good.” She raised an eyebrow teasing the audience

౨౿ “how about noona finally teaches the maknaes the dance.” Yeonjun suggested, as then move to ‘the killa’ dance segment. “I guess I’ll teach them.” Joohyung playfully rolled her eyes, making the members laugh. “Make sure to use your face,” Joohyung pointed her’s. “Sexy like this.” She gave them a demo, but she didn’t get too far because Beomgyu and Kai blocked Joohyung. “Too sexy! Too sexy!” The two jokingly covered Joohyung’s face from everyone

౨౿ as they were performing ‘cat & dog’ as an encore song Joohyung took the time to read posters and followed what the poster was asking, along with dancing with moas and even the staff who Joohyung found hilarious because they were so hyped and dancing along with her

“Woah! You really look AI! It’s crazy!”

౨౿ “Honey I just wanted to say thank you so much for saving me honestly, txt gives me so much motivation and happiness. It must be very tiring with everything you’re going through, but just know moas are always by your side defending and protecting you. We are also a shoulder you could always lean on and cry too. I love you so much, Honey.” Joohyung saw that the moa was starting to cry which made her start to cry as well. She wiped the tear that was coming out, “ah, moa~ don’t cry.” Joohyung playfully whined while trying not to cry further. “I should thank you for letting my dreams come true and for always supporting txt and letting us come and perform for you. I hope you never leave our side, and thank you moa~” Joohyung sniffled, as she lovely pat the moa’s head

౨౿ Joohyung ended up witnessing for first ever proposal and she was as shocked as Yeonjun. “Congratulations!” Joohyung clapped for the couple before taking a photo with them. Before moving on to the next moa she heard someone asked a question, “when is Beomgyu going to propose to you Honey?” Joohyung got so shy with the question her ears started turning red, which she quickly covered making everyone around her giggle. “I don’t know? You have to ask him when he comes around.”

౨౿ long story short the same moa questioned Beomgyu the same question and he got just as shy as Joohyung, and his ears ended up turning red too. He cutely started stumbling through his words trying to answer the question

౨౿ another soundcheck moment to mention is the viral boyfriend Beomgyu look he was giving. “Do you like Beomgyu’s look?” Joohyung asked moas who responded quickly loving it. “Good because it was me who to put a little bit blush on him and did his hair. He looks soo cute~” Joohyung squealed, making the members coo at how cute she was explaining

౨౿ Joohyung’s glowy sparkly makeup was a hot topic in the makeup world along with all her makeup looks throughout the tour

౨౿ Joohyung was definitely in a playful mode, as she was spanking the members’ butts making moa laugh at her silly antics on stage

౨౿ in the previous stops some members have accidentally dropped their fan during ‘sugar rush ride’ and it was now Joohyung’s turn to experience the little embarrassment of dropping the fan right when the camera is on her. She laughed it off instead of beating herself up about it

౨౿ Joohyung saw many pride flags waving around which she pointed at the flag and sent hearts at the moas waving it, including seeing many hold up palestine flags which she also pointed at them sending big hearts at the moas with them

౨౿ Joohyung went so hard at the choreo for ‘no rules’ it’s another one of her favorite bsides. Both her and Yeonjun were going around jumping and dancing using all their last energy

౨౿ during send off Joohyung saw that the moa she was with was shaking and saying ‘sorry’ because she wasn’t being fast pulling up her camera app. Joohyung gently held the moa’s shaking hand, “it’s ok. Take your time, I’m not leaving you so soon.”

౨౿ “can i do a heart on your cheek while we pose?” The moa asked. “Yeah! It’s ok.” Joohyung even leaned in more so the moa’s hand was touching her cheek

౨౿ Joohyung did a little tiktok dance with a moa, but she couldn’t keep a straight face so the whole time she was holding in her laughter

౨౿ even though Yeonjun asked to keep the pride flag filled with moas’ signatures and the staff said ‘no’ Joohyung asked the moa if she could keep it. Of course the moa said ‘yes’ and Joohyung grabbed it and the staff member tried to say ‘no’ to Joohyung too, and even tried to take it out of her hands. “No it’s mine.” Joohyung pulled it away from the staff member’s reach

౨౿ Joohyung made all the members have a blushy look during soundcheck which moas thanked her for her service

౨౿ “New York!” Joohyung yelled after the dance break for ‘deja vu’ while moa screamed with excitement. All the members chuckled hearing Joohyung yell

౨౿ Joohyung was mouthing “runaway, runaway with me” to a moa causing them to have tears in their eyes, making Joohyung pout not wanting to make the moa cry

౨౿ again Joohyung’s body was hurting and she was trying her hardest not to show it, but once it was time for ments everyone could tell Joohyung was having a hard time as she was trying to rub out the pain from certain points of her body

౨౿ members started to really worry when Joohyung was hanging her head low and trying to blink the dizziness away, sometimes Joohyung would clinch on a member’s shirt or sleeve trying to balance herself

౨౿ after ‘magic island’ Taehyun couldn’t take it no more and walked Joohyung backstage so the staff members could take care of Joohyung. “Noona needs to cool down a bit longer, so don’t worry moa.” Yeonjun tried to reassure everyone. “Mm, noona works too hard and just needs a bit more time.” Kai agreed before changing the topic

౨౿ the members even dragged on the ending ments because they didn’t want to perform without Joohyung, so as they kept on looking behind them seeing if Joohyung was walking back they would keep the conversation going. “Oh-our honey is back!” Soobin smiled at Joohyung, who was walking back while fixing her ear-in. “I’m back~” she sang

౨౿ despite her dark makeup and cold stares Joohyung was being clingy towards any member for example; rubbing her cheek against Kai’s arm while he was talking, holding onto Taehyun’s shirt while following him around, playing with Beomgyu’s fingers during a ment, holding Yeonjun’s hand while watching the maknaes dance to ‘the killa’, and giving back hugs to Soobin while resting her cheek against his back

౨౿ “I know I mention this before but…I really love these outfits you guys wear for us.” Joohyung points towards the second level. “I hope you guys are all comfortable and able to dance with the tall heels.” She chuckled, seeing moas look at their feet

౨౿ Joohyung unleashed her boba eyes during ‘isytt’ making moas squeal every time she was shown on the big screen even the members looked at her with warm eyes

౨౿ despite all the hardships Joohyung is going through she still manages to have a smile on her face for the people who love and support txt

౨౿ during this send off many moas made it their mission to tell Joohyung how much they admire her and constantly giving her compliments, and how strong she is to keep performing no matter how tried she is. Hearing all this was so overwhelming for Joohyung, but in a good way. That she was getting teary eye just hearing everyone

౨౿ towards the end Joohyung was signing a page from the moa’s dairy that was gifted to them while the moa poured her heart out about how much she loves Joohyung and even naming a few reasons out of 100 on why she loves Joohyung. Her speech broke Joohyung, as she no longer could hold in her tears and a single diamond tear fell on the page creating a little tear drop stain

౨౿ Joohyung profusely was thanking moa for coming and for being there for her before officially leaving. It was definitely one of the more heartfelt moments from the whole send off part of tour

౨౿ one of many funny moments created in this tour is when they had to kick their mic stands during ‘loser lover’ and Joohyung completely missing the aim of her mic stand. She stared at it in defeat before kicking it harder than she’s supposed to because she was a little mad at her aim

౨౿ while Joohyung was going hard at dancing her ear-in fell out of her ear and as the song got to the climax the confetti canons went off scaring the crap out of Joohyung and many moas. She yelped into her mic making the members startled at first, but then laughed it off seeing that Joohyung wasn’t in any danger

౨౿ as the group was performing ‘trust fund baby’ Joohyung was seen zoning out just nodding to the music luckily not forgetting to sing her lines

౨౿ to moas it was hard to view Joohyung as sexy with her cute hairstyle and makeup during ‘the killa’ nevertheless she still caused imaginary nose bleeds with her bold moves

౨౿ Taehyun accidentally tripped poor Joohyung while pulling her with him to run full speed to the main stage so they can dance to ‘happily ever after’ together

౨౿ singing ‘blue spring’ brought back all the memories from the previous tour along with lollapalooza. Joohyung was done showing her vulnerable side again so she tried her hardest to keep the tears from flowing

౨౿ “are these the freebies you guys hand around?” Joohyung pointed at the clear bag filled with freebies. “Yeah, want some?” The moa offered. “Yes please~” Joohyung held out both palms waiting. “Wahh, thank you!” Joohyung smiled, while looking into the bags of fanmade pcs with sticker

౨౿ Joohyung was surprised seeing little kids waiting to met her. “Hello there!” She leaned over the barricade, trying to reach them better. Joohyung playfully ruffled their hair before saying her ‘byes’

౨౿ “is that my cereal?” Joohyung snickered, while reaching for the cereal box to sign it. Joohyung’s box was coco puffs for the general mills collab 

౨౿ “the amount of Jooie egg pcs I have signed this whole tour is insane.” Joohyung was slightly regretting all the close up photos she takes for her pcs. “Please keep taking egg pcs Joohyung.” Moas begged, making Joohyung chuckled at how cute their begging is

౨౿ welcome back short hair Joohyung! She was missed by many including the members who have a habit with playing with their noona’s short hair

౨౿ “hi I’m Honey and I have short hair again! Do you like it?” Joohyung beamed, hearing all the ‘yes’ in the crowd. “That’s good. Let’s live it up since it’s sadly that last US stop of act: promise. But let’s not be sad because this isn’t a ‘goodbye’.” Joohyung brought everyone’s spirits up

౨౿ Joohyung gave it all she got making sure there wasn’t any regrets with her performance, especially because it was the last night

౨౿ Joohyung let out a tear during ‘deja vu’ like how she did in their Inkigayo performance making moa go crazy with her acting skills

౨౿ “our actress Joohyung!” Soobin clapped, as the group was doing their ment. “I save that move for the last show since it’s very special.” Joohyung mimicked her tear falling. “Noona you do it so easy~” Taehyun dragged out the word, making her laugh

౨౿ Beomgyu kept on messing with Joohyung’s hair causing her to spank his butt to try and discipline him. Clearly it didn’t work because he kept on doing it

౨౿ “Kai let’s fucking go!” Joohyung yelled, while Kai was getting his guitar to have his solo moment. It hyped up Kai and moa, making moa’s cheers louder and Kai gaining even more confidence

౨౿ it was the last ‘dreamer’ Joohyung zoom in which Joohyung slowly slid her hand up to her neck while giving a seductive look into the camera, giving moa a moment to remember

౨౿ “I think moa really liked noona’s short hair version of ‘the killa.” Yeonjun teased. “The killa~” Joohyung immediately sang while doing the hip movements, earning screams. “I agree too!” Beomgyu cutely raised his hand. “Let’s make noona perform it one last time for us.” Soobin added. “Yes, noona should be right in the center.” Kai guided Joohyung to the center. “Ok, one, two, three!” Taehyun counted down before singing. Joohyung tried to wash away the embarrassment before starting which somewhat worked, as she winked and blew a kiss towards the camera

౨౿ Joohyung was making sure to try and thank everyone from every section for coming since it was already the end of the concert. Joohyung made sure to take her time reading all the posters she could before heading to the center where the screens from above slowly came down ending the final US stop of the tour

SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States.  The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science.  SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research.  The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network.  Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor.  Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. Gary’s radio career stretches back some 34 years including 26 at the ABC. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. He was part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and became one of its first on air presenters. When asked to put his science background to use, Gary developed StarStuff which he wrote, produced and hosted, consistently achieving 9 per cent of the national Australian radio audience based on the ABC’s Nielsen ratings survey figures for the five major Australian metro markets: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. That compares to the ABC’s overall radio listenership of just 5.6 per cent. The StarStuff podcast was published on line by ABC Science -- achieving over 1.3 million downloads annually.  However, after some 20 years, the show finally wrapped up in December 2015 following ABC funding cuts, and a redirection of available finances to increase sports and horse racing coverage.  Rather than continue with the ABC, Gary resigned so that he could keep the show going independently.  StarStuff was rebranded as “SpaceTime”, with the first episode being broadcast in February 2016.  Over the years, SpaceTime has grown, more than doubling its former ABC audience numbers and expanding to include new segments such as the Science Report -- which provides a wrap of general science news, weekly skeptical science features, special reports looking at the latest computer and technology news, and Skywatch – which provides a monthly guide to the night skies. So I was looking through my drafts and found this post about Project Skybox and the Interloper ARG from a few months ago. I think I wrote it after Part 9. Part C came out yesterday and some of the stuff I yapped about became slightly relevant/aged... Strangely? I have more thoughts about Part C but I'll save those for later.

I'm going to use Anomidae when referring to the series creator, and Anomi for the in universe character and Project Skybox to collectively refer to Anomi, Lucy, and anyone else involved.

So with any in-progress story with any element of mystery or intrigue, people make every single possible permutation of "X character is actually Y" theories, and I don't buy them. Like I don't think Anomi is actually Eida or whatever. There's mayyybeee one person who's involved with both Anomi and Eida's investigations, and that's JMan from the forum thread (first guy to make a demo, actually). He's also Eida's channel partner/voice actor. The only "evidence" for that is that Eida's crasher video is really crusty on the archive channel, but is a lot clearer in Anomi's video, which could mean Anomi had access to the original recording? It's also kind of weird that the annotated copy of the forum thread on the project skybox site gives JMan and only JMan the role of "Expert". There is also the mysterious JJ in the hidden text in the graffiti with the commands? Idk, I dont think this is anything.

Speaking of generic theories I don't like, I don't think Anomi is hiding information from the audience. At least, not maliciously. I think he's just omitting information that he doesn't think is currently relevant. Anomi and Eida are foils to each other. They're investigating the same thing, but they have very different approaches and theories about what's happening, and they both have their own blindspots which keeps them from seeing the bigger picture. So like, yeah, some of the Tuesday manifest demos are really weird, but Anomi had more pressing things to do, like poking SkyGhost for several months. There is literally a curated playlist on the channel of people dissecting the demos. He knows about the weird stuff in the demos, and he knows that we know he knows that. It's just not important to bring up right now.

Also, I don't think this is a petscop situation where the investigation gets coopted by other people. Lucy and project skybox's introductions seem sudden, but it's always sounded like Anomi's talking to someone off screen or in a discord call or something imo. The FourTwo/title card, Ravencheck/Gris connections, and Olive/🔴Live things are a bit weird, but I think they're just coincidences or dramatic irony. If there is a diagetic reason for them, it's not malicious. Like, what's more likely, Anomi was a member of this small CGI startup in 1991 that evolved into the server hosting/ai developer FSky during the 2000's-2010's, then in 2021 started a YouTube series about the weird things his company did and has been playing dumb this whole time... Or did Anomi pay homage to this weird computer graphics urban legend which he hosts on his site? Like if he's trying to hide this information, Anomidae could have hidden it better.

That all being said... Theres one thing I can't make sense of. Episode 5. The editing is really rough, sometimes Anomi gets cut off mid sentence, and Anomi's notes to cut things out of the video arent removed. The beginning of the video is what really baffles me though. It's the first draft of a video about the flashnuke. At the end of that segment, he lingers on the umbrella man graffiti in ravenholme. The entire first half of the video is Anomi reluctantly moving on from the interloper investigation after portal rtx broke last time.

Except. The dates are really weird. The successful fall test was on July 2nd, and the probe launch on the 10th. The flashnuke first draft was recorded on July 9th. Why would Anomi start a new project and look at the umbrella man graffiti so wistfully the day before the probe launch?

Hi hello so welcome to the post Part C part of this essay. My updated theory about Part 5 and the flashnuke was that the weird editing and tone was all intentional. Anomi did that on purpose, made it seem like he gave up, to make the probe launch even more dramatic. It was weird seeing the Xbox port and the flashnuke actually become relevant in Part C tho.

I feel vindicated that Eida made contact with Anomi, proving that they aren't the same person (probably. Hopefully.). Eida is very insistent Anomi watches his demo, but if Anomi has watched it all the way through, or has done cubemap extraction* on it or anything, he hasn't told us. Meanwhile Eida refuses to give any straight answers. Like what the fuck is a gris.mp4 dude. The two of them are immovable object vs immovable object.

*cubemap extraction is weird. I think part B established you could do cubemap extraction to *any* demo, but non interlope demos have random stuff generated by skyghost? Idk. The whole series follows a pattern of gaining access to one tool, losing access to it, but then finding another angle, another tool. The console commands, the portal rtx void, the probes, the VRAD entity photos, project skybox and the Tuesday manifest, skyghost, then cubemap extraction. Of all of them, cubemap extraction just feels out of place to me. At the very least they proved skyghost was still somehow connected to the fsky servers. Maybe they'll turn out to be like mission critical in the future, idk. But with Part C, Anomi finally entered and explored the source engine void, and project skybox crashed, maybe taking skyghost with it. It feels like we're nearing the end.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room. Spisefourx6. In Part B, random characters in Anomi's explanations are highlighted red, and put together they spell that out. At first I thought it was somehow skyghosts doing, but apparently, other messages starting with "spise" are hidden in parts 9 and A.

I have no idea what to do with those, or how to end this post.
