The worst part about fandom culture being majority OSA women/girls, is that they all just expect you to share their attraction for the male of the day. They fan themselves over these dudes and try to get you to join in and you don’t know how to explain to them that you literally feel nothing when you look at these men. At best it’s like looking at a nice painting and at worst it’s like looking at a wet diseased rat. It’s like grade school all over again where everyone is bonding over their boy crushes and you’re expected to play along or be alienated.

It gets even more awkward when they try to hide the fact that they’re attracted to these males by saying it’s “gender envy”, or claiming that they’re some form of “asexual”. And you just want to say come on, you’re clearly attracted to this man, say it with your chest and stop trying to find a way to get me to rave about receding hairlines with you.

#it’s been such an awkward experience from day 1 of being involved in fandom #it’s just another example of people being unwilling to believe that there are women who simply are not attracted to men #I’ve been involved in fandom for years now and this has been a constant reoccurring experience #pretty much anyone I talked to would be like ‘omg look at himmmm he’s so gorgeoussss look at those legs’#and I’d just be like ‘haha I’m gay so I don’t really Get It’#but they STILL GO ON ABOUT IT #It’s like they expect you to just magically develop attraction for some guy #this happens in real life too with OSA women going on about men to lesbians and just Not Getting that we cannot share the enthusiasm #again: they can’t accept that there are women and girls who have no interest in men #they think we all are capable of at least some attraction to men #and it shows with the blatant disregard for our sexuality they constantly show in small ways #I’d love to know if other lesbians have experienced this or if I’m just unlucky #my ramblings
