I feel like Ann was brought back to life but still died in Borderland as a means to have someone who remembered what happened because her surviving (despite dying) was a unique instance of that happening 👀

alice in borderland spoilers!
my theory as to why tatta died while others (ex. niragi) who faced worse survived
i think it has to do with someone’s will to live. when we learn about tatta’s backstory, we see he carrie’s incredible guilt for what happened to his coworker because of him. he believed he deserved his fate because of what he had done. he had no one to live for and it was easy for him to resign to his fate and let go
it’s almost impossible that niragi would survive being torched, thrown off a building, shot, pushed into a building on fire, and being shot another few times for good measure. how does tatta break his arm and bleed out but niragi is okay? because niragi has a stronger will to live
niragi feels no guilt about his past actions and is fighting for himself to survive. he would never willingly succumb to death. i think the fight against death in the borderlands is more of a mental battle than a physical one
the other characters who survive also have something that they are fighting for which gives them the strength to keep going no matter how dire the situation
arisu is fighting to live on in karube and chota’s memory
usagi is fighting for her father and to get back with arisu (i have a feeling she would have died if she hadn’t had the change of heart and decided she wanted to go back to the real world)
kuina is fighting to see her mother again
chishiya, similar to niragi, is fighting for his own survival but near the end it changes to where he is fighting for the survival of others
aguni is fighting for hatter
heiya is fighting for aguni
ann did technically die and i think it is because she didn’t have anything left to live for. but i also believe she managed to be brought back because kuina’s dying words reached her and reignited her will to live
when we look at karube and chota’s deaths, we can see that they also give in to their fate and don’t fight back at the end. i wonder if that would have changed if they decided to work together in the game rather than against each other

HONESTLY. Even tho he had no time Bandas character had potential, that’s why I love him sm tbh. I genuinely feel like his character would’ve been so interesting to follow along, but at the same time i feel like it would ruin him as a character. theoretically, the reason Banda had such high importance in the Jack of hearts episode but no recognition in the rest was def to create mystery and suspension surrounding the background of his character. Since he is so mysterious.. when it comes to speaking on rank in intelligence most people don’t recognize how extraordinary he actually is. It’s so easy for him to disguise not only his emotions but also his characteristics using manipulative tactics that practically hypnotize his target. THIS is what drove me to him honestly. His end speech to the Jack made it obvious this was an easy game for him as well which truly makes me question how strong his abilities actually are. SORRY I HAD TO RANT.

Villainous Headcanon: The Disagreement
Location: P.E.A.C.E. HQ, Recreation Area
[One of the Golden Rule Members start a fight with a newbie superhero due to a petty reason while all the other heroes cheered on and watched the fight with excitement]
General Falchion: Hey now, is this a fight?
[The noise of the crowd of Heroes dies down as the crowd part at the sight of General Falchion]
General Falchion: [Golden Rule Member], I should have known...
[Golden Rule Member]: (rolls-eyes)
General Falchion: I heard that the PR team is still trying to cover up that maiming "accident" you caused at Rainy Hills.
General Falchion: Are there not enough Villains now that you're targeting other Heroes? Could you do me a favor and lay off them on my account?
[Golden Rule Member], scoffs: I only take orders from the boss.
General Falchion: Well then, let me ask your boss.
General Falchion: Who is your boss, GoldHeart?
GoldHeart: (glares)
[All the heroes stare nervously at GoldHeart waiting for his response]
GoldHeart, forced smile: ...It's you, isn't it?
General Falchion, laughs: We'll then now that's settled. All team leaders gather in the main conference hall, I have an important announcement I need to make.
---
Headcanon: GoldHeart being the top hero definitely has a high authority and power over P.E.A.C.E. but overall General Falchion runs P.E.A.C.E.
This is extremely far-fetched but I think it would be interesting if GoldHeart doesn't like the way Falchion runs things in P.E.A.C.E. but unfortunately has to agree with him because he is the one in charge.
GoldHeart is the next one to be the General if anything happens to Falchion but he won't quote an unquote wait "20 years for an old man to die" in order to be in charge and achieve his goals.
He can't just kill Falchion on the spot and take over, it would make him look like the "bad guy".
So he has to be sneaky about these things and "play Falchion's game" for the moment and listen to what he says while GoldHeart gains more power and sway with the public and the heroes, so that they will listen to his ideas instead of Falchion so that when the time comes when he is in charge people would definitely welcome the idea.
The next step is to blame Falchion over some crimes, something so horrible that it can't be covered and is looked down upon even in the organization. (Like giving information about the P.E.A.C.E. to villains). So that way when Falchion is arrested, GoldHeart will look like the "good guy" ☺️👍 taking over this "corrupt villain".
The only one who knows this plan is the Golden Rule Members (excluding Miss Heed) who are already loyal to GoldHeart and only follows Falchion's rules if GoldHeart says so, and agrees to help with GoldHeart's plan, knowing that they will get more power and influence as well after GoldHeart takes over.

Theory for AIB S3
After a rather short while of going back and rewatching S1 after finishing S2, I began extensively analyzing everything in the show regarding characters and what we now know from S2.
Before I go any further, I would first like to point out there will be spoilers for Alice in Borderland S1 and S2 following this. I would also like to point out that Chishiya is my favorite character and I’m pretty sure it will show in the following paragraphs.
Theory
When I first started contemplating this theory, I thought it was too on the nose for what we’d already seen from the show. However, the more I thought about it and analyzed my supporting evidence, the more it seemed to be perfect with how S2 ended.
So, we know that two of the executives from The Beach were Game Masters of Face games in the new season, Keiichi Kuzuryū (King of Diamonds) and Mira Kanō (Queen of Hearts). We also know that once all the games have been defeated, all surviving players are given a choice: To become a permanent resident of the Borderland or to deny the offer.
I believe that Last Boss will be the Game Master of the Joker card.
Supporting Evidence
S1E7: The Beach has become a killing ground and game tournament for the 10 of Hearts game. Kuina buys Anne time by engaging in combat with Last Boss. During this fight, we get to see glimpses of both Kuina and Last Boss’s pasts as well as learn that Last Boss has never felt more alive than in The Borderland playing the games. The last clip we see of the fight, is a final blow from Kuina and her giving a nod to what her father had taught her.
S1E8: The game continues, Arisu exposes Aguni for the death of Hatter, and all hell breaks loose once again. It isn’t until the dealer of the game reveals herself to distract Aguni and give Arisu the advantage to finish the game, that we find out that Niragi survived Chishiya’s jerry-rigged flamethrower (it was honestly very impressive and very enjoyable to watch). Hellbent, Niragi tries to continue to mow through the final survivors of The Beach, but is finally apprehended by Aguni, and the two disappear into the smoke from the fire with only two gunshots signaling the end of that battle. When the final survivors of The Beach finally complete the game, we get a final glimps of Last Boss, still alive in the burning building that is The Beach.
S2E2: To my surprise, and I’m sure everyone else’s, the disgusting scum of a human, Niragi shows up at the King of Clubs game, already registered and now forced to team up with Arisu and his group.
S2E4-E5: Aguni also miraculously survived the fire at The Beach.
S2E8: The final clip we get of this season was the entire 52 cards of the deck on a table. A wind picks up and blows off all the cards leaving one, The Joker.
Also with going back and rewatching S1 and analyzing Last Boss and his mannerisms, he’s a very animated sociopath. Especially in the fight scene against Kuina, the maniacal laughter, toying with her like a cat with a mouse. He even said so himself, he never felt more alive than in the game.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

alice in borderland theory; still in borderland?
introduction
hey tumblr, im back w another analyzation of alice in borderland; once again, still the netflix series. i do not own the manga. yet. todays analyzation is about a pretty popular topic right now; are the 'former' players still in borderland? lets take a look.
still in borderland - evidence supporting claim
during season two, arisu and the others played face card games. along the way, they find out ‘citizens’, or, long term participants of borderland who now run games, are a part of the mystery of borderland. they mostly refuse to say anything, mostly speaking along the lines of “clear all the games, and you will find out.” it lacks information, but its still straight forward. this happens continuously leading up to the final face card game- or, at least we think it's the final game. out of face card games? yes. out of the eternity of games? no. lets talk about it.
‘final’ game during the final face card, or, queen of hearts/croquet, mira plays mind games on arisu and usagi. she is fully capable of manipulating them and creating false imagery, as she fools them multiple times as they drink tea. once she is beaten, the fireworks from episode one flash in the sky, and the remaining players are sent home. but that’s where we are wrong. they are specifically asked whether they would like to leave or not. borderland still exists, despite all the games having been completed.  circulating back to mira, i already mentioned she can play very elaborate and believable mind tricks. whats stopping us from thinking this isnt another one of her tricks? not much.
everyone is connected  when players confirm they would like to leave borderland, it cuts to an altered version of episode one. karube, chota, and arisu walking through shibuya, camera switching between different characters that were introduced in borderland. its ‘revealed’ that they were actually all in the same place at the same time, and a meteor had actually crashed right there at that exact moment.  at least, that’s what they want us to think.  “but hiemal, what do you mean??” if you go back to episode one with the original version of the shibuya street clip, you cannot find anyone from borderlands. this is excluding usagi being faintly seen in the background before the crosswalk clip. even with usagi being visible, this lacks the evidence it needs to support the idea that everyone was there at the same time.
and finally, outside the hospital, we can see a bunch of playing cards sprawled out on a table. slowly, they all blow away. except for one. the joker card. now in my personal opinion, i believe the joker might symbolize a trick as joker cards were originally symbolized as a kings fool/trickster. if the joker card symbolizes a trick, it all lines up with the idea that they didn't actually escape borderland; while they might've beat the queen of hearts, the joker is still apparent/relevant. if my theory is correct, what will this joker game be? i cant say for certain.
bonus: what was the purpose of asking whether or not players would like to stay or not? to start this off, in season one, when it cuts to recordings of momoka and her friend, we find out that players can definitely help with the games. sound familiar? citizens. arisu says he believes the citizens had been there so long, they started to create the games themselves. he might be onto something. what if, this choice between staying or leaving is actually to replace the face cards’ former queens/kings?    all of the face cards leading citizens have left. assuming that borderland has existed for longer than we think, taking into consideration that a lot of people came at entirely different times supports this. new leaders take the place of the old, and those who choose to go home move on to play the joker.
conclusion
thats all for today. what do you guys think, and did i miss anything? if you have anything youd like me to cover, please do tell me and ill consider it. id love to hear your guys thoughts if you have any. until next time <3

Now I'm coming at this from a 2020 live-action pov, but I think it would be really neat and fucked up if Shibuki was a game dealer and managed to recruit Chota as well.

And also, I still don't know what I'm doing, and english is still not my main language.

The sun was still low on the horizon when you arrived at the Foundation’s main door. Grabbing your duffel bag and backpack you exited your car followed by your close friend, roomie and colleague Kaori. There were already a few staff members waiting, on the sidewalk, for the transport to take you all to the event and you both walked to join them.
Kaori hadn’t stopped talking about the conference and the fact that you would get a free vacation out of it. However, your mind kept switching her off from time to time.
“Hey! You sure you’re feeling alright?” They asked you for the tenth time.
“Yeah. It’s just weird…I feel…weird…” You told them honestly.
You met Kaori a long time ago. They had been the ones that had helped you after ‘the incident’. Their bubbly personality, friendly attitude, and especially their caring and patient side had become a safe space for you to turn to. Even if sometimes they were a bit overexcited. After the meteor, their over-the-top personalities were what kept you motivated.
“It’s the first lengthy trip after the…thing…it’s normal. It’ll be alright…” Kaori placed a hand on your shoulders, giving you a reassuring smile and you smiled back, still weary.
It was in fact the first long trip you had taken after the disaster a year ago. In the months after the incident, just walking around Tokyo would make you hyperventilate. Although it had subsided, there was still a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach. You felt like a prey animal, always hypervigilant. All the doctors you knew and all the counselors told you it was normal. You had been through a traumatic event, more than that it had been a sudden traumatic event, your body still in fight or flight mode. Still, the explanation didn’t take away the feeling.
“I promise you, I have googled every single space agency, telescope and conspiracy theory website. None indicated the sky was going to fall down again.”
You rolled your eyes at their joke. Some people might find their humor offensive, but it was something you both had in common. Even though you still felt the scars mentally of your trauma, you found that a helpful workaround was to joke about it.
“Thank you. Deeply appreciated, friend!” You placed a hand on your heart in mock gratitude and they nodded.
"No problem, buddy."
As you approached the small group of people at the door, you both made a beeline for some familiar faces. The taller of the two figures, Ari, waved at you and your friend as they saw you approaching.
“Who’s ready for a free vacation?” Ari asked, clapping her hands together and beaming brightly.
“It’s not free.” Chishiya’s raspy voice argued.
"It's an all-inclusive, four-day trip to one of the finest resorts in Tokyo. It's a bit of a free vacation.” Kaori argued back.
“Did you forget about the two-day conference?” He asked her, pushing his hands into his white jacket.
You stood, quietly grinning, looking between Kaori, Chishiya and Ari as the three of them argued whether the event constituted a paid vacation or just work.
“You know! I liked you better when you were blonde.” Ari concluded by crossing her hands over her chest.
The look Chishiya threw at her was the most offended glare you had ever seen him give. It lasted exactly 5 seconds but it was enough for you to snort as you tried to keep the laughter in.
“Come on Ari, we all know blonde Chishiya was not the superior Chishiya.” You teased, pointing at his now jet black hair. “This! This is our true lord and savior. The evolution of the man, who is now a legend.”
“I don’t know why I hang out with you people.” He retorted, but his face was neutral with a side of good humor.
He had indeed made a radical shift in his looks. His hair was slightly shorter, looked healthier, but his usual white was now jet black. He had changed his locks after the incident, a few weeks after he started working at the Foundation. Obviously, you all teased him.
Truth be told, many survivors had indeed altered their appearances after the trauma. The last time you saw some of them, thanks to the ‘mandatory monthly therapy session ’ , there had been some changes in aesthetics. Some had grown out their locks, others had shaved their heads, and others had changed their style completely. You yourself had changed your appearance as soon as you could move about.
Every time you looked in the mirror, the person looking back didn’t seem like you. It was like staring at a photo of you from years ago. From another life. And technically, that was right.
“Because you need a few people around, to bring you down from that marble pedestal you like to stand on.” Ari said and everyone nodded, including him.
“Kicking and screaming sometimes.” Kaori gave everyone a knowing look.
"Alright children. Enough with the beating of an undead horse.” You looked between your friends as they groaned and moaned at the bad joke.
The bus arrived and the group made their way to it. As you walked down the bus aisle quietly, shuffling behind the rest of the staff, you could hear Kaori and Ari argue about something they had read in a scientific magazine and Chishiya complaining he was not mentally ready to spend an hour hearing Ari go on about this.
“You can sit with me.” You smiled at him, turning to look at him over your shoulder.
“Thank you.” He bowed his head to you.
As the four of you settled into your seats, the excited Ari and Kaori kept chatting on and on about the article while Chishiya just shook his head.
“That article was disproven by several sources months ago.” He declared in a hushed tone as he took out his hoodie and placed it on the overhead shelf.
“You can walk over and tell them that. Good luck!” You teased him and he shook his head, getting comfortable.
"Ari will probably google it in about...five minutes." He grinned at you, raising one eyebrow and you chuckled.
The relationship between you was warm, comfortable and you both seemed to enjoy each other's company. You both shared a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which bonded you in an unusual way, just like it did with the survivors. There were some who were affected more than others, but being collectively dead for a minute or two had made you all form a strange bond.
With Chishiya it spanned beyond the monthly meetings though. You had started working at the Foundation months before the meteor, and he had joined a few weeks after. The Foundation had made you and him sit through counseling every week, deeming that the monthly therapy group sessions given by the government weren’t enough. You would both sit in the waiting room of the psych wing waiting for your name to be called. That was the perfect opportunity for you to strike a conversation with the handsome and aloof doctor.
It started with small talk, the weather, the shifts at the hospital, what had been on TV. Even though he seemed distant, he was willing to listen to you. He kept the conversation flowing by adding some snarky remarks and trivia about the topic you'd be discussing.
And then you introduced him to your friends and the four of you became a unit. It had taken him a while to get used to the chaos that was the three of you together, but as time passed, you noticed him becoming more relaxed. Although he kept all of the other staff at arms length, barely moving an eyebrow at them, around you three, he seemed to be content. He seemed to be happy, often antagonizing one of you or just letting you all tease him about something.
It became a habit to wait for each other whenever you had counseling sessions. You would grab some cookies from the machine and sit on a bench taking in the last rays of sunshine.
• ··········· • ············ •
“Thank you” He said one day, munching on a biscuit, making you turn your head towards him in surprise.
“For what?”
“I don’t know.” The still white haired doctor shrugged and leaned back into the stone seat. “When I woke up in the hospital, I felt like I needed a change.”
“Dying does that to you.” You smiled at him and he nodded.
“I didn’t enjoy doing anything before. At least that’s what I felt. I was a flat line, just keeping up with the flow. Nothing mattered. Get to work, pretend to care, go home, pretend to have hobbies, pretend to have friends, go to sleep. Repeat. I felt nothing. Whether I was telling a mother that her child was dying or just ordering lunch, it was all the same to me. ”
“And now? Are there any nuances in your...feelings?” You questioned him softly and clearly saw the gears in his head turn.
“Yes.” He looked at you and raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully rationalize what they are, but there are spikes on the line now.”
“I don’t think you have to rationalize emotions, Chishiya. I don’t think anyone does. You just have them.”
“What if I don't have them?”
“Well, you go to counseling." you joked, pointing a cookie at him and then becoming serious. "I’ve seen you with your patients. I’ve seen you around Ari and Kaori. I’m seeing you now. This…” Your hand motioned towards him. “This is feeling an emotion.”

Marking the territory
Tumblr media
Requested here
Fandom: Alice in Borderland
Pairing: Niragi x gn!reader
Summary: Being a militant at the Beach might sound exciting to some, but to you it's mostly doing Hatter's dirty work, late night patrols and worst of all - boring meetings. This particular one started off just like the others but thanks to a new member it would quickly go downhill.
Word count: 1.2k
Warnings: swearing, established relationship between reader and Niragi, mentions of alcohol, nudity, teasing, public sex, exhibitionism, oral sex, jealousy, requested reader was feminine I think but i didn't mention any genitals or specific pronouns so I tagged it as gn reader - please let me know if I missed a part that would suggest otherwise
A/N: Yes, I turned a simple request into a rant about Niragi's exhibitionist kink, what are you gonna do about it. And yes, this is the first thing I'm posting after like six months, you're welcome 😌
--
"And why exactly did I just waste a fucking hour listening to some..newbie's life story?"
You relaxed your face, careful not to show your amusement at Niragi's words. You lived at the Beach long enough to understand that the militants and executives were basically Hatter's chosen family - their so-called duties weren't always taken too seriously. He did like to play pretend however and look professional, in front of newcomers at least. Something something elite organization, something something only the best players. Usually you'd all play along, but clearly someone had other plans today.
"Hmm..Let's see." Of course Hatter had to pretend to take Niragi's question seriously. You've yet to see him break character in front of a new member. "Considering the fact that it's only ten in the morning, on a Monday no less, and yet Aguni had to drag you, in his own words, out of the bar and threaten to take your beloved weapon away, just for you to put a shirt on- I simply assumed you didn't have anything better to do anyway. Please forgive me if I was wrong."
"You are indeed wrong, Hatter." It was almost impressive how the obvious irony in the older man's voice seemingly escaped Niragi's attention completely. You had a theory as to what was occupying his mind at the moment though, and his next words only confirmed it. "I could think of someone..I mean something I'd rather be doing right now. Preferably shirtless." He said the last part looking directly at you, a smirk on his handsome face.
You were trying your best to control yourself, unwilling to entertain your boyfriend in front of a stranger, but it was getting hard with the way he was looking at you. You knew he'd take you right then and there if he could, on that very table you were sitting at. It wouldn't be the first time either. Suddenly your brain was flooded with images from the past, in-between or after meetings, when it was just the two of you. Niragi wasn't a patient man, that much you were able to figure out before you even talked to him for the first time. Seeing him lose his temper at even the slightest mistake of another member was a common occurrence. He liked to get straight to the point and his impulsiveness transferred into every aspect of his life. Sex was no exception to that rule.
Unless there was even the slightest possibility of having an audience. It wasn't until some random, probably drunk and/or high, person stumbled into your room while your boyfriend was going down on you, that you realized he might have a thing for being watched. It was as if a switch was flipped inside his mind that day. Ever since then the meeting room became his favorite place- he could spend hours exploring your body, his hands and lips marking every inch of it, bringing you as close to release as possible, only to withdraw completely over and over again.
You could only guess how many of your friends have seen you all fucked out, a shaking and drooling mess, all while he didn't lose a single piece of clothing. He'd never share you and you felt bad for all those poor idiots who attempted to flirt with you only to never be seen again, but he loved nothing more than to show you off, make everyone see that you're his and nobody else can have you. Damned be the person who figured out how to charge the phones given to players during each game.
"And what about you, Y/N?" The sound of your name snapped you out of your thoughts, the looks on the other executives' faces clearly suggesting they all knew what you were fantasizing about. At that moment you wished you paid enough attention to answer Hatter's question. You shot him a begging look, hoping he'd have mercy on you this time. "What do you want to say to our newest member?" He granted your wish, but not without a loud, exaggerated sigh.
Oh, so that's what it was about. Thinking about it now, you had a lot to say to her. Starting with the fact that you noticed how she looked at your boyfriend ever since she entered the room. That everyone else noticed too. How ridiculous she looked trying to catch his attention and how annoying and unnatural her voice sounded the entire time. And most importantly, that it would be better if she stopped embarrassing herself - Niragi didn't look her way even once, you knew for sure he would forget there was a new member introduced that day as soon as everyone leaves the room. Your relationship was far from perfect but jealousy was not something you ever had to worry about. The thought of having him all to yourself later filled you with excitement but for now you had to stay focused.
"Welcome to the family!" You exclaimed instead of voicing your thoughts, in a sickeningly sweet tone, with the fakest smile you could muster glued to your face. "It's always a pleasure to meet people with such a..positive attitude." Your last sentence caused some barely contained laughter among the other executives. Even Aguni looked a little less intimidating than usual. It was hard not to notice the newbie's poor attempts at flirting, the only oblivious one remaining was ironically enough the very target of these attempts. Or at least that's what you thought.
Hesitantly, you got up from your seat to properly greet the girl, as you did with every new member. It was awkward to say the least, forcing yourself to be so friendly with someone who probably hated everything about you. Maybe except your significant other. Luckily, judging by the amount of cards she presented to Hatter upon joining, you didn't think she'd last long at the Beach.
Finally, after the longest and most uncomfortable hug and hand shake of your life, you made your way back to your seat. A loud gasp escaped your lips when suddenly you felt someone's hands firmly grabbing your waist, pulling you into their lap. It was unexpected and it caught you off guard, but you soon recognized your boyfriend and calmed down a little. It was quite unusual for him to act that way. You started to think that maybe he wanted to tell you something without the others noticing, but no, he wasn't even facing you. You followed his gaze and..oh. You couldn't hold that smile in anymore, not when the new girl was staring at the two of you with such pure disgust written all over her face. It definitely didn't suit her, you had to admit. But it wasn't exactly your fault that you and Niragi made for one hot couple.
That's when it finally occurred to you however, that he did, in fact, notice her advances. He just waited for a perfect moment to shut them down, and since he couldn't just fuck you right then and there in front of everyone..he settled for the next best thing. It would be an understatement to say that him acting so possessive, though in such a subtle way, made you incredibly horny. Now that you were so close you could tell he was excited too. And judging by how fast the girl stormed out of the room after the meeting was done, she must have received the message, loud and clear. When all of the other members left the room, you knew Niragi would show you that he only wanted you. You also knew that Hatter and Aguni would not let this go for a very long time, but you'd deal with that later. Much, much later.

Ann
If anyone dared put their hands on her darling, you best believe she'd kill them immediately. Another participant had tried to sacrifice you instead of himself, pushing you against the edge and she wasted no time running over there to save you.
Not an ounce of guilt would appear on her face as she'd slaughter them mercilessly, only thinking of you and your safety in that moment.
When you'd finally reunite again, Ann would carry a slight smirk on her face; half expecting you to come running into her arms with tears streaming down your face, thanking her over and over again for saving your life.
But of course you didn't, her darling was stupid.
'' Thank you '' you stammered out under your breath as you walked side by side with Ann.
She scoffed loudly, as if she wasn't sure if she had heard you quite right.
'' That's all you have to say? ''
Her steps came to a halt, irritation striking her beautiful features. After every grand gesture she had done for you - you were still oblivious to her feelings?
Cute
She scoffed again and then started walking, leaving your injured-self behind.
'' Wait for me! '' you cried out, regretting whatever thing you had done to piss her off.
You realised in that moment, that you needed her, wether you'd like to admit it or not. She seemed to always have your back, no matter what.

Mira
She always made sure that you'd be safe while participating in the games. It was unfair of course - somehow, you always seemed to survive, getting away with barely a few scratches while others weeped over the lost lives of their loved ones. It was almost as if the game-makers had favourites...
Once people started noticing this, they'd distance themselves from you. Mira didn't mind, it only meant less trouble for her as she wouldn't need to get as jealous now.
They hated your guts and nothing you did seemed to please them, even as you begged them to befriend you, they refused stubbornly.
When the next game rolled around, they weren't taking any chances. The theory had to be tested for itself - they were going to hurt the game-makers' favourite and see what would happen.
Their well thought out plan had been in motion for weeks, unbeknownst to Mira. She could only watch as the contestants surrounded you, alarm bells ringing in her ears as soon as you were out of her sight.
Mira left the monitoring room, the others' protests fell to deaf ears. She ran all the way over to the arena without stopping once and when she arrived she looked insane.
Sweat beads decorated her forehead, she was out of breath and her eyes bulged with rage.
The first to notice her backed away. They knew something was up from the way she carried herself and recognising her also meant she was someone important.
'' Y/n, darling? '' she called out, voice softening momentarily as she called out to you.
You were unresponsive and slumped over on the ground. She could see through the cracks of the people covering her that she was hurt.
They got their theory tested and it turned out it was correct - but was it really worth losing their lives over it?
The last thing they saw were the bloodthirsty and revengeful face of Mira as she slit their throats skillfully.
Tumblr media
Usagi
You turned your head several times in both directions, eyes desperately searching for Usagi.
You needed her now more than ever, having been caught in a hidden trap during one of the games. If she didn't find you by luck, you'd likely die as there was no way of getting out on your own.
The teeth of the trap was digging into your skin, drawing blood any time you tried moving around. Tears threatened to spill from your eyes and you were starting to feel tired.
With the night fast approaching, you looked up and prayed for her to find you.
It seemed almost too good to be true as you heard footsteps not long after, hurriedly approaching the spot were you were laying.
'' Usagi? I'm here! '' you screamed, voice slightly hoarse.
Your eyes immediately widened when the runner turned the corner and came into your view - it wasn't her, but another player. An older male who seemed to smirk at your state, prodding you with his foot.
'' Ah, what a shame '' he ticked his tongue.
'' I was about to help, but I want to win so- ''
He erupted into a scream of horror as an ax hit him right in the middle of his head.
You flinched and hid yourself, scared that the person behind him would kill you too.
'' It's just me ''
You relaxed and released the breath you didn't know you were holding in, tears freely falling now as you looked at her with immense gratitude.
'' Thank you '' you cried, letting yourself be held in her arms as she kissed your head, looking as relieved as you were.

favourite things: 2023 edition
last year i made one of these and i thought it'd be fun to make another one. i have a notion spreadsheet with all the media i watch/read/play throughout the year (not just things that came out this year!) and i give them ratings. these are the highs (and some of the lows) of 2023 (not in order).
Games
Tunic - such a great and beautiful game that i do not want to spoil. seriously, play it. if you like zelda, exploration, solving puzzles, and cute little foxes, then it's a must
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - what can i say, i love a zelda
Portal 2 - just an even more excellent sequel to an excellent game
TV
Alice in Borderland - i didn't know what to expect at first but it was excellent and highly addictive
Not Me - my introduction to thai BL (for better and also definitely for worse lol). anyway this show changed my brain chemistry. it has everything: gays, a twin switch situation, leftism, arson, rooftop kiss... you know
Bad Buddy - speaking of rooftop kisses...... if you know you know. anyway this is also a thai BL and it's still rotating in my brain. i rewatched it almost immediately, that's how good it was
The King's Affection - cheesy historical kdrama about a crown prince who is secretly a woman, with a swoon-worthy romance and political intrigue. this one's for the bisexuals (after all, the male love interest falls in love with the prince before he finds out it's a woman)
Vinland Saga - this anime fucking wrecked me. season 2 had me crying every single episode. thorfinn is my new child and i WILL name my future cat after him
The Devil Judge - a kdrama about a dystopian south korea with a fucked up justice system. anyway kang yohan character of all time. oh and also toxic homosexuality (affectionate)
Books
The Poppy War trilogy by R. F. Kuang - what an excellent series to get me back into fantasy series. it was not without faults, but i was hooked anyway
Babel by R. F. Kuang - i read this brick in 5 days straight. it's beautifully written and has such interesting things to say about language and colonialism. again, it has flaws but i wasn't bothered, i was obsessed with this book
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon - i didn't realise how much i missed high fantasy until i read this. it has lesbians, dragons, a bitter old homosexual, magic, and did i mention dragons and lesbians?
He Who Drowned the World by Shelley Parker Chan - the sequel to She Who Became the Sun, my favourite book of last year. this sequel fucking DELIVERED. i went insane about it multiple times. it's a must read
Graphic novels/manga
Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama - i started this manga 2 years ago, but since it's still ongoing and I've read new chapters this year, it counts for this year as well
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run by Hirohiko Araki - not finished with it yet but it is truly as good as everyone says it is
The Adventure Zone: The Eleventh Hour by the McElroys and Carey Pietsch - i know not everyone likes the taz comics, but i do, i think theyre great adaptations, and this one looked incredible
Movies
Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse - not as good as the first one, but still really good. beautifully animated and extremely entertaining
Bonus: the lowest of the low, titles that earned my 'sucked shit' rating
Theory of Love - amazing that out of the 3 thai BLs ive watched, 2 managed to make it on my favourites list, and one of them was some of the worst television i've ever seen
Where the Crawdads Sing - read the book for book club last year, we all hated it, and now we decided to watch the movie for a laugh. it also sucked
