Sims World Tag Game 🌎
Tagged by @treason-and-plot!
My 5 Favorite Sims Worlds. (Which will all be Sims 3 worlds because I haven’t played the other games enough to know!)
1. Sunlit Tides. I play (though not recently) in a version with the Isla Paradiso dive lots added. I haven’t been able to find a link to it, but I’ll include if I can find it. It’s just breathtaking and really grabs the tropical vibe for me.
2. Aurora Skies. The architecture and views give a great sense of place. I love the Scandinavian houses.
3. DIY Avalon. This is the world the Samples have been living in since Generation 4. I’m a terrible builder, but I love to use other people’s builds. The visuals in this fantasy world are just gorgeous, and I’ve had a great time adding lots and maintaining the population.
4. Lunar Lakes. I guess I just really enjoy wild locations :). I’ve been working on a new challenge to set here, but of course all my projects are slow. The townie population is less than inspiring (which is fixable), but I love the landscape and alien feel.
5. Sunset Valley. What can I say? The launch world has so much personality. I have to add expansion stuff to play in it, but I still love it.
I really want to play in Roaring Heights, but I’ve never gotten there. Someday.

I love The Sims.
Which is why I will never stop being disappointed in TS4.
Lets do some math, and I’m going to keep this mainly between TS3 & TS4. While I did play TS2, there isn’t a lot of information readily available on what the games themselves cost at the time of release. I have some information on that, but I’m not sure if it’s 100% accurate as I was baby when they came out and my mom had to buy them for me. I’ll release it later if anyone is curious.
TS3 launched with a base game priced at $49.99, and throughout it’s lifetime accrued nine stuff packs at $19.99 each, and eleven expansion packs priced at $39.99 a pop. This comes to a total of $669.79.
TS4 launched with a base game price of $59.99 (that price soon dropped to $49.99 because the backlash was immediate), and introduced the new game pack. In total (as of 4/15/2020), TS4 has sixteen stuff packs at $9.99 each, eight expansion packs at $39.99, and eight game packs at $19.99. That comes to a total of $699.67.
That’s not a huge price difference. All in all, it’s about $30 if you want to get the whole, complete collection, so why do I dislike TS4 so vehemently?
Quality.
Let’s compare a few expansion packs just to get a feel for what the difference is.
TS3 launched the “Late Night” expansion at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Bridgeport) with 82 lots
Fame & reputation systems
Bars & night clubs
Apartments with penthouse suites
Subways
Elevators
Breast & muscle sliders in CAS*
Zodiac signs
A fountain tool*
Height adjustment for wall objects
Groups & bands
Butlers
Vampires!
The mixology skill
2 new traits (shy & star quality)
TS4 launched the “Get Famous” expansion at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Del Sol Valley) with 11 lots
Fame & reputation systems
Active acting career
Multiple ways to become famous
Music, video station, etc.
And that’s about it.
Now I’ll be the first person to admit that TS3 wasn’t perfect. Although it was a very full game, it struggled in areas of performance. With such large, open worlds, and detailed customization systems, it was pretty buggy for a lot of people, but we’ll talk on that more later.
But what I want to focus on is the disparity between these two packs, as they’re supposed to be mirrors of one another. “Get Famous” is the TS4 version of “Late Night”, so where did all the stuff go?
Well, EA broke it into 3 packs.
To get the full experience of “Late Night” in TS4, or at least something similar, you would need to purchase, “Get Famous”, “City Living”, and “Vampires”. That’s 2 expansion packs, and 1 game pack. So, to replicate the experience of “Late Night” you would need to spend $99.97.
That’s almost $100.
So, for an experience we paid $39.99 previously in the last installment, we’re now being asked to pay $100 for.
Is that fair?
Lets do another expansion pack comparison:
TS3 launched “Ambitions” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Twinbrook) with 82 lots
5 new active jobs that take you all around the world your sims inhabit
Firefighter, investigator, ghost hunter, stylist, and architectural designer
Self-employment
Sculptors, inventors, painters, writers, gardeners, and so on can all profit from at home work
Laundry
Tattooing career
New traits (eco-friendly, good observer, weirdo, etc.)
Consignment stores
Inventing
Sculpting
TS4 launched “Get to Work” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Magnolia Promenade) with 4 lots
3 new active jobs that take place in one location
Detective, doctor, scientist
Baking & photography skills
Retail lots
Illnesses for sims
Aliens
There’s definitely more crossover here, but “Get to Work” still falls short. $39.99 for a full game and all we get is a world with 4 lots? Even in TS2 “Open for Business” we had more to do.
And, that isn’t to mention the fact that “Get to Work” launched separately from the TS4 “Laundry Day Stuff” pack. So, to get a similar experience to TS3′s “Ambitions” you would need to purchase both “Get to Work” and “Laundry Day Stuff” at a total of $49.98.
One more comparison for good measure.
TS3 launched “Island Paradise” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Isla Paradiso) with 118 lots, the most of ANY TS3 expansion
Houseboats that can move anywhere around the island
Resorts that you can either visit, or own, manage & edit
New transportation modes
Boating, skiing, and windsurfing
3 new careers
Lifeguard, resort manager, scuba diver
Diving into fully realized underwater scenes
Sims could also catch fish, explore underwater caves & find sunken treasure
Shark & kraken attacks
Mermaids!
Missions to discover and unlock new islands
Blueprint templates*
TS4 launched “Island Living” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Sulani) with 11 lots
Docks & new foundation types
4 new careers
Conservationist, diving, fishing, and lifeguard
Mermaids!
Boats
Missions to clean up the island
2 new traits
In the case of “Island Paradise” vs. “Island Living” there are a quite a few similarities, but the disparity remains. Thankfully, this time around EA didn’t break “Island Living” into multiple packs, but imagine if in a few months we get a resort style pack? Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past EA.
In these pack comparisons, I hope I’ve highlighted some of the issues between what should have been pretty similar packs.
And, to clarify, I’m not saying that EA should have just copy pasted TS3 packs into the TS4 style, but for the amount of money they’re asking, the quality should remain the same. There should be a similar amount of features between each pack, but there isn’t.
With each expansion, it feels like EA is spending less and less time working on the unique gameplay features, and pouring more time into the general aesthetics of the packs. So, while TS4 is the prettiest of all The Sims titles, it’s also the emptiest.
Despite the shiny veneer of a good game with solid graphics, TS4 ultimately lacks depth. It doesn’t feel like a game, but rather a character creator. I spend more time building sims and their homes than I do actually playing out their lives.
All in all, I find that the “life simulation” part of TS4 is severely lacking. It mostly comes down to the little things, which is exemplified whenever I go back and replay TS2. Sims would cuddle their partner in their sleep, burglars were a real and present danger, raccoons would topple your trash can at any given chance, and friends would call all the time to ask if you wanted to go downtown.
It’s been 6 years since TS4 came out, and, from what the dev’s have said, they aren’t planning on pushing out TS5 anytime soon, but let’s dream a little bit about what could be.
In my perfect game, TS5 would include aspects of TS3 and TS2. The open worlds were great, but not many people’s computers were beefy enough to run them. The one thing I will applaud about TS4, is that its made with everyone in mind. We can’t all afford big, gaming computers, a lot of simmers play on their laptops, and we should all be able to play regardless of what type of machine we’re working with.
So, instead of fully open works with 90+ lots, I would like to see open neighborhoods. If we take the open concept of TS3, and combine it with the neighborhood style of TS4, we’d get an open world of about 15-20 lots. That’s nowhere near as big as TS3, but would allow for more fun neighbor interactions, and remove the constant load screens.
I’d also like to see a return of the color wheel. This is also a point of contention, where I understand that excessive customization really dragged down TS3 and made it unplayable for a lot of people. So instead of full customization, relegate it to just colors (instead of different materials like fabric, metal, wood, etc.,) and just CAS.
I think a lot of what gummed up TS4 was the fact that you could customize everything. Hair color, eye color, makeup, clothes, accessories, wallpaper, paint, tiles, flooring, chairs, sofas, decorations, and on and on. Restricting it just to CAS, and in a simple color wheel would give us so much more freedom.
A color wheel in CAS would also solve EA’s issue of diversity. While they’ve given us the ability to create trans and nonbinary sims (which is fantastic!), they’ve been really slow on any progress when it comes to skin tones. A color wheel would allow us to create sims of all colors, and give power to the players to create more realistic and diverse representations of their lives as sims.
The last thing I would really love to see is a return to the little details. Give us more randomness. Genies, walking skeletons, ruins we can explore that aren’t just rabbit holes, more active careers, more opportunities. Don’t be afraid to give us the weird things, we love the weird things! But don’t forget about the little things. Sims sitting in the grass together and chatting, sims leaving flowers at your door after a really great date, sims scooting together to cuddle while watching a movie together on the couch.
Overall, TS5 should just include more more, if that makes sense.
Leave your comments & thoughts below! I’d love to talk to ya’ll about this, its really been brewing for awhile.
*Features included in TS4 base game.

4, 14 and 21? c:
4) favourite dish specific for your country?
Well.. there's so many, but like everyone knows pizza, pasta, gelato etc
I love sweets so gelato is The Thing
14) do you enjoy your country's cinema and/or TV?
We have some good old movies and great film directors, I remember watching some old films with my dad a long time ago and enjoying them but I hardly remember the titles. New films and TV however say nothing to me personally in general.
One film I recommend (if you can find it subtitled or dubbed) is Cinema Paradiso, it's my dad's favorite film and really emotional, with a great soundtrack.
21) if you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be?
Some politicians probably so hopefully they'd get eaten by Aliens

ascolti estivi di varia consistenza, #4
:

Today has been frustrating. That’s all I’m going to say. Well, it started off nicely, I did something I was proud of. Then it went kinda downhill. I’m probably going to make it even worse as soon as I post this...there’s this thing I’ve been thinking about for the past few days. Considering I’m soooo good at communication and expressing my feelings, it’s going to end up great, you can bet.
Sarcasm aside, let’s talk about my legacies:
I just queued the rest of part one of Gen 6! It’ll run for like 40 more days though.
After that, I’ll finally post the first generation of my BPR, almost a year after starting it. I know what you’re thinking, I’ve been posting TS3 for months, I should switch back to TS4 now, it would be fair, and yes, I thought about that too. But I kinda really want to get rid of the BPR. Gen 1 is finished and I don’t want to keep it to myself anymore.
As for gen 3 of NSB, I haven’t been playing it too much recently. I’ll play it a lot in June though, I hope. As soon as the exam chaos is over.
I’ve also made some decisions about Roses, but I’ll talk about these later. There’s still a high chance I’ll change my mind.
Besides, when do I not make decisions about Roses? They’re on my mind way too often. It can’t be healthy.
Update: I’m still not done with my replies but I just got a message from my teacher, saying that I did well on the English writing exam! I don’t know the exact grade but yay me. I mean, I knew I was going to do well on this one, but finally seeing I passed feels much nicer than “oh yeah, I’m confident about my English, there’s no way I can fail”. The way this exam system works...I was worried it wouldn’t scan properly or some crap. In the past, people had problems with that.
Update 2: Still writing the replies but I just found out that apparently I got 100% on the exam. Holyyyyy crap.
tiny-tany-thaanos replied to your photoset “Courtney: I really married this idiot. I’m stuck with him forever. Oh...”
Don't worry it could be worse. It could be Ross for example (sorry, not sorry)
Ooooooh. Yeah I mean, what Felix does is kinda natural, what Ross does (or used to do)...is just wrong.
sparkiemonkey replied to your photo “I have three weeks to learn everything for my last exams. Am I dying...”
Good luck with your exams. You can do it.
Thank youu! I hope so. I feel like I still remember nothing from the notes, but at the same time, when I read some of them, I’m like “duh, I’ve heard this a million times, of course I know what it is!”
desira-sims replied to your photo “I have three weeks to learn everything for my last exams. Am I dying...”
If it makes you feel better, I’m constantly rethinking how I should have posted my story too. I think it’s why I’m enjoying doing these mini photo shoots for Gen 2. It’s glimpses into their life that I didn’t fully express in my story.
I feel like everyone does this, they get great ideas when it’s too late to change it. Some people are just better at moving on, I guess. Not that I want to move on from gen 4, nope.
justkeeponsimming replied to your photoset “Let’s see what we have down here…”
The lighting in this shot is gorgeous!
It is! Isla Paradiso underwater is amazing. I wish there were more diving spots though.
deathflowertea replied to your photoset “It’s getting dark so fast. This should be a quick dive, or else…well,...”
this is how midnight sun challenges start...
Imagine if I did that. I love this idea.
dreamsongsims replied to your photoset “Houston we have a problem I forgot Isla Paradiso is a glitchy mess”
Yes. Yes it is. All that work to get to a dive spot and BOOM! Right back to shore.
It’s frustrating that it’ll most likely never get fixed :/

I also got an ugly haircut with ugly blonde streaks when I was 15 :’D guess that’s a 15 years old thing? XD Anyway, love the pic! *O*
It might be?? And it wasn’t even a good blonde. In many photos, it just looks yellow, sometimes even a little green. But hey, I learned from my mistakes, now I’m never going blonde :D
And thank youu! ♥

Biggest mood
I thought episode 4 fucked me up...but then episode 5 came and...let’s just say ep 4 was alright compared to this.
twistedsim replied to your post “Well that was an amazing surprise! ”
Shit! I just now saw the score. XD Damn, you whooped Sweden's ass!
Usually it’s the other way around :D Yeah, it was great to watch. I was expecting to be disappointed but not surprised, but actually...if I’m not mistaken, that’s our best score with Sweden ever. And then with Norway, we did great too...too bad we lost with Russia today. There were so many chances and not a single goal...but oh well, it’s just one game. It doesn’t mean anything. I hope.
flowerhoneysims replied to your photoset “I was just kidding I don’t actually want her to die jkahdkfahdflg”
My diver died because of a shark ;-;
Oh nooo ;-;
create-a-sim replied to your photoset “Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck was that a shark?? A SHARK??? I’m gonna die I’m...”
Ohhh :(
This was actually a funny moment. I thought “Awesome, her mother died in a fire, she’s going to be eaten by shark and who’s there to save their ass with a ‘quit without saving’ button? Me again! Maybe they’re telling me I should stop playing this legacy.”
But then she wasn’t actually killed by a shark. Phew.

I love this dress.
Me too! And I never use it for some reason. I wish I had something like this irl.
desira-sims replied to your post “So…I took a break from studying to watch the latest episode of Game of...”
I haven't watched this season yet. I keep saying I'm gonna sit down and binge it, but haven't done it. Maybe I'll do that Wednesday.
Oooh, I’m not sure if I would be able to binge watch it. Every episode left me feeling overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions, doesn’t matter if they were negative or positive. Actually, I don’t think this season is as bad as so many people online say...it’s not perfect but nothing is. 🤷♀️
Then again, speaking of binge watching, I was able to watch the previous seven seasons in less than a month last year, so maybe it is possible.
plumbobhart replied to your post “So…I took a break from studying to watch the latest episode of Game of...”
I hated it sooo... yay? D:
I’m not sure how I felt about it. Like I’ve said already in this post, today has been frustrating and this episode contributed to that. There were some things that bothered me, some decisions that bothered me, oh and there was a great example of character development going to hell (that really disappointed me tbh), but overall...idk, I guess I still kinda enjoyed it - I mean, as much as one can enjoy this tv show. It was brutal.
I’m not going to talk about it all in depth though, I could spend whole evening with that and I don’t want that haha :D

My OFFICIAL Best/Worst TS3 EPs - REVISED 2019
I did a 2014 Sims 3 countdown list here, but since then I’ve played a lot more, and changed my mind about a few things. (Except the SPs -- I stick by what I said about those.)

Disclaimer: My “best/worst” is really just my personal favorites, with no real bearing on how well I think EA actually created the game, the quality vs quantity, how they executed the concepts, or anything like that.
With that said, let’s go Worst to Best this time! >:D
11 - Late Night: My opinion hasn’t really changed; if anything it’s gotten worse, especially after Boroughsburg went and dookied all over Bridgeport. XD

10 - Island Paradise: I’ve yet to even touch Isla Paradiso (I plan to...eventually), but the mermaids are meh & I was bored underwater (there’s not much to do); I don’t give a eff about resorts; and though I really like all the boats, they’re a EFFING HEADACHE to route & control. The new collectibles & items are cool, but I don’t feel my gameplay expanded all that much, as most of those objects are just a new, more colorful/tropical coat of paint on the regular stuff we already have. (Formerly #9)
9 - Generations: A huge expansion, yes, but when I’m not playing with kids (which is most of the time, outside of my Malec gameplays), I sometimes forget this pack exists. I disabled Memories & Imaginary Friends almost as soon as I installed Gen, and Story Progression on Day 1, so all I ever really use is the toys. It REALLY should’ve been basegame, or added in a free patch the way the TS4 Toddlers stuff was. Especially considering it didn’t include a new world to play in. And for all its claims, it effing ignored Elders, lbr. The new CAS & Build/Buy items get the most use from me by far, and the new sorting/filtering systems they added. (Formerly #7)
8 - University: I have zero intention of ever using the university mechanics, or going to the world at all (RL school already traumatized me enough; thanks). But I really like the Plantsims (a heck of a lot more than Mersims), and again, the collectibles & new CAS/Build/Buy items are the coolest part for me. I LOVE the harvestables, possibly even more than the ones in Supernatural. And the Buy Mode objects are effing cool -- the wealth of hobbies & skills stuff especially.
7 - Showtime: My feelings about SHT have been conflicted since it was first announced. I still feel like it’s an expansion of an expansion (*cough* Late Night *cough* cuz it needed one -- or two *cough* Supernatural *cough* -- I’m ALLERGIC to EA’s BS!). I never used Simport, I don’t like Katy Perry, the Genie lifestate is glaringly out of place, and Starlit Shores is just ok. But the keeper for me is hands down the new professions, particularly the Magician, and I absolutely LOVE the CAS & Build/Buy items. (Formerly #6)
6 - Pets: I. Am. IMPRESSED. I think this is possibly the second best EP in the whole game (the best =/= my favorite). I’ve owned Pets & IP for years, though I was never able to run them on my old laptop, and had to wait till late 2017 before I got a new one with better specs. While IP was a letdown for me, Pets certainly isn’t; it’s so cool having pets & wildlife in the game! (Formerly #10)

—The rest I didn’t change my original ranking for, I just have more to say—
5 - Seasons: Still the best, most well-made EP out of the bunch (which says a lot, cuz it had its flaws, too). Winter is still my favorite (which is ironic, cuz I effing hate snow & cold IRL), but I still think the “holidays” mechanics & content are really bad -- EA was so busy trying to be politically correct that they watered down each and every one. At least small yet welcome additions/improvements were made in TS4, but TS2 still had the best, IMO. I miss Father Time.
4 - Into the Future: A STAPLE for sci-fi gameplay, along with Showtime & Ambitions (and Seasons, for sneaking in the Aliens for no effing reason). But I am SO IN LOVE with the Build/Buy items, that I use them all the time. (I frikkin hate a lot of the CAS nightmare fuel, though.)
3 - World Adventures: I get tempted to bump WA up to #2, but I honestly don’t use the tomb exploration much at all, the mummies scare me, and I never cared for Champs les Sims; I think Monte Vista’s much prettier, with more interesting townies. I just love the fact that they added new cultures and lifestyles -- the worlds (plural!) are the biggest draw. 3rd best game, because they could’ve done so much more, but for the first EP out the gate, it’s a great expansion.
2 - Ambitions: Granted, I disabled Laundry (cuz eff chores); I don’t play in Twinbrook much anymore; and ITF’s Plumbbots make the Simbots look like a badjoke. But the content? The content. Dude: they’re EXPANDED. The traits, professions, hobbies & skills are sooo good. And I refuse to give up the CAS & Buy Mode items, not to mention that some of my favorite Build Mode content is from Ambitions (especially the plants). (Magnooooooooolia Crawford XD)
1 - SUPERNATURAL: Cuz duh, of course it is. XD Major flaws, particularly with the lifestates, but the content is just too integral for fanciful simmers to pass up. I have gripes with each and every lifestate (y’all know I raved a bunch about the 3rd party mod that added magic for kids), but I still have loads of fun with what we have (even the vampires, when I suspend my disbelief >_>).

Do you think the show will end with Bellarke as a family with biological children and Madi ofc. Or, will it end dark with one of them dead etc?
That I can’t say. JR once said that he didn’t know which way he was going to end the series. With hope for the heroes, or the heroes dead but giving hope to everyone else.
However, he said that a few years ago, and I feel like I’ve seen some changes in the show that trend towards the positive, rather than the tragic.
I actually have a theory that he’s being influenced by The Divine Comedy, that this story follows the track of that, loosely. And it’s not a baseless theory, seeing as there is a character named “Dante,” they showed a painting illustrating “The Inferno,” and named episode 3.03 after what was written over the gates of hell in the inferno, “Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here.”
My original theory was that season 3 followed Dante’s Inferno. And it did kinda. But somewhere in season 4, I realized that Dante’s Inferno was only the first part of the trilogy, and the trilogy was called The Divine Comedy.
Dante called his epic poem a comedy because, unlike tragedies that begin on a high note and end tragically, comedies begin badly but end well. The poem indeed ends well, with the protagonist, also named Dante, reaching his desired destination – heaven – a place of beauty and calm, light and ultimate good. [x]
Oh. Oh, hey look at this.

HOLY CRAP. Does that look familiar? Like the end of book one a bit? That is Dante and Beatrice at the end of their journey to heaven. [x]
ANYway. I’m flipping out a little bit googling paradiso and dante and beatrice. Divine Comedy is an allegory for morality, I think. I read The Inferno in college, but never Purgatorio or Paradiso. What I’m reading about Paradiso is a bit too heavy on the catholic mindset for me. I am not nor have I ever been Christian although I’ve studied a bit, so is a struggle for me. I’m trying to read through the christianity, which is fair for The 100, because it isn’t a christian allegory, although I’d say it is a moral one.
But if I’m reading this right, we might have finished up with purgatorio with the finale of season 5, leaving Clarke and Bellamy as the central story and Clarke as the central figure in Bellamy’s life again. It seems as if they will be together during it, as Dante and Beatrice were? HOWEVER, there will be a time when Bellamy thinks he’s lost Clarke. Another Bellarke separation? I’d say definitely on the books. We’ve had one each season. This time I think it may be along the lines of “lost love” rather than a betrayal. So that will be our Bellarke “all is lost” moment, but in the finale they will be together again.
As long as this works on a one season storyline, not a two season one. TBH, the structure is pretty complicated and hard to pin down, because different storylines run on different structures. Some lasting one season or half a season and some lasting 5 seasons or beyond. I’m definitely leaning towards this Dante’s Divine Paradise being Bellamy’s story. So what is Clarke’s? The Illiad? Is she Odysseus or Penelope? Or both? IDK.
Sorry I fell down the rabbit hole. My original point is that If this story is modeled after The Divine Comedy, that means it will end up well. Because a classic comedy starts out in hell and ends up happy… in heaven. They LITERALLY descended below the earth where they met monsters. You can find parallels in season 3 to the rings of hell. They have THREE realms, underground (hell), earth (purgatory) space (heaven.) They are ascending and descending all the time. They have wise guides taking the role of virgil all the time (lincoln, maya, monty.)
However I think there is some ambiguity in the end of Paradiso, since humans CAN’T see the face of god. So The 100 will reach heaven and a happy ending, but we won’t really know how it ends for Clarke and Bellamy. (but I do believe them being together will be canon. Although the real Dante and Beatrice remained unrequited, the fictional Dante and Beatrice found true love and were together. Actually Dante wrote the story after Beatrice’s death I think.)
But let’s keep an eye out for that “Celestial Rose” imagery up there. With the symmetry and the central mandala like figure. We’ve already seen it with the final scene and Clarke and Bellamy seeing the new planet. AND we got a sneak peek of another with that bts castle pick. The shape in the arch is ANOTHER Celestial Rose, so that makes me think we’ll have some spirituality on the new planet and I think it will be literal, not metaphorical. I think the alien whatever is going to be like a god.
I never read Purgatorio or Paradiso and I’m not going to, but I’m seeing a lot of symbolism that it shares in common with The 100, and actually that has been in a lot of science fiction and fantasy and mythology that I’ve read and watched all my life. Maybe that’s why I’m picking up on it here. It’s an archetypal story based on The Divine Comedy, but filtering throughout all sorts of stories we tell.
Let me post this. I’m just thinking things through at this point. Hope you can follow.
