Okay, okay so Ecco vs. Jervis? Ecco wins, 100%.

Like, Ecco does her research. Before she met Jerome, she probably already gathered all the info she could get on his accomplices and how he managed to escape Arkham and the like and I feel like she would've been prepared for Jervis.

(In fact, I believe she only ended up hypnotized in the first place because both her and Miah were probably too sure of themselves? Like, they probably didn't consider that Jerome was planning on being taken so therefore Jervis and Jonathan could've simply waited around Ecco's apartment to follow her to Miah's hideout.

But just between us: The whole place is full of cameras and somehow Ecco opens the door to Jervis and Jonathan? I mean, does Miah have one of those speaker systems so Jervis was able to hypnotize her from the other side of the door? I think there was a little suspension of disbelief involved actually).

Anyway Jervis isn't skilled in hand to hand combat and spends his confrontations with Jim hiding behind hostages or siccing his puppets on him (or even Ecco as his accomplice in S5) so Ecco just needs to get close enough to get a good swing in.

And she'd probably be smart enough to carry/wear some earplugs around Jervis if she's planning on attacking him or if they're on hostile grounds with each other. (Because canonly speaking, I don't think he'd hypnotize her. They like each other too much, there no reason for him to do it -other than his desire to be with her romantically-)

(She may even go out of her way to pretend she's hypnotized to trick him and get close enough to knock him the fuck out or kill him, depending on what's her mission there).

Ecco + Jervis....well, we all know my standpoint there aksnsnsn.

I have rambled about this countless times, but maybe not in public so to make it brief, I'm just saying that Ecco is probably the perfect doll Jervis could ever envision.

Like, his - and Miah's - whole thing is control and Miah has expertly shown that he can control at least one person to the point they would willingly die for him without being outright hypnotized and that's big.

On one hand I think that would incline Jervis to work with Miah in the first place - because he recognizes his talent and Ecco is like this shiny little trophy Miah can show off like 'Look what I accomplished, look how powerful I can be'.

And on the other I feel like how Ecco behaves around Miah and is loyal to him is exactly how Jervis wanted his relationship with Alice to be and once again, Miah didn't hypnotize Ecco.

She's doing all this without being forced and Jervis is fucking fascinated by that. He wants her. He wants her to be willing to die for him. He wants her to belong completely and utterly to him alone so he's the one who can show her off and have someone be loving and loyal without the added empty eyes blankly staring at him, expecting the next orders.

(Also I think he likes to paint himself as a gentleman and romantic, so he'd make it this whole show of how lovely Ecco isn't treated right and he would treat her like a princess obviously, completely disregarding the fact that she's really only valuable to him because Miah treated her so lowly and hurt and abused her because that's what made her so loyal. And if need be, he's gonna pick up some of Miah's methods to keep her in line. Only out of love though).

But I do also think that Jervis would see pre-gas and bullet Ecco as a powerful asset to the league and we have seen them get along greatly so if Ecco had more autonomy, he'd definitely treat her like an equal (like he treats Jerome or Jonathan) and he definitely values how she's similar to Jerome but that's a whole other rant.

(Also....he's hot. She's hot. I like them both. Why not like them while they smooch and Jervis gets handsy enough Ecco has to swat his hands away).

One more rambly thing while I'm at it tho:

I think it's very important for Miah and his influence within Gotham to have Ecco at his side.

I mean, not only does she do everything, from recruiting the Maniax to turning Jeremiah into a godlike figure, a messiah to be worshipped, to working with his allies and fighting his enemies, no, she's also his only 'proof' of his power so to say.

I mean, by the time S5 rolls around he does have a reputation among the citizens of Gotham but the villains? I think it's important for him to have Ecco around so he can show off how he can be cunning enough to get people on his side + as a way of threatening them by showing them how cruel he can be (which can range from stuff like using Ecco as his foot rest to outright slapping/choking her in front of people and have her thanking him for it).

If he doesn't have Ecco anymore, not only does he lose his right hand woman, he pretty much loses all his connection to his followers and the villains he worked with and it's gonna be a blow to his status as feared villain because the one who's actually a threat is gone, plus he can't use her to seem more imposing by bossing her around.

Someone has made the argument before that Miah's shit at captivating people through his words and persona (since Ecco draws them in and the moment he's alone with the maniax he loses them and has to burn them alive before they turn on him)-

-*cough cough* Jerome/Ecco parallels *cough cough*-

-so I think it's safe to say that killing her off may have been one of the stupidest decisions he's ever made. And not just because I like her.

He's never gonna find somebody he can manipulate to that point again because unless he plays the long con and really dedicates himself to it (which I think he's too impatient to do after the gas, he freely rolls his eyes at Ecco when he's annoyed with her, I don't think he's patient enough to play the dotting and loving partner for months to get his new Harley to the point she'd shoot herself for him), no one's gonna fall for him.

Jerome? Jerome could easily aquire a Harley and he'd just as easily keep her (mostly because he'd see her as a powerful asset rather than a mindless bimbo to worship him) but Miah? Nah.

He may have the role of helpless victim down but now that he's known as a villain it's gonna be harder to pull off and lure somebody in.

His safest bet would be kidnapping a kid tbh, -not that I ever thought about him kidnapping Barbara Lee, noooo-

Anyways, other fish in the sea? Miah can be lucky the villains still work with him without Ecco present as a mediator, finding a new girl to replace her is gonna be impossible.

(And ohhhh, the deliciousness of a fic where Miah realizes just that but still alive Ecco - because she's always alive, safe for two wips of mine - doesn't wanna go back to him, yeeeeesssss).

Ecco or Jervis?

Well, I don't think anyone's gonna be surprised when I go with Ecco here :D

I mean, I love Jervis and I love the storyline of Alice/Jervis and how neatly it ties into S3 but Ecco is my sweetheart and my baby and can possibly only be topped by Jerome.

-quite literally-

Because while I adore Ecco, canonly speaking there's not much there, I just decided I wanted it to be that deep whereas Jerome has a lot of canon interactions with people and a super interesting storyline, plus a complex familial situation and just...like, not to bash on Miah but he has the perfect set up to be the Joker because he's been around since S1 and him and Bruce have an actual relationship that evolves over time and he has allies he actually gets along with and he's had at least one scene with most of the mains and backstory with most of the mains and it's just so good.

Like....if they'd introduced Ecco independently from Miah just to give Jerome a Harley, I think that would've actually been my dream come true.

(But they couldn't give him a Harley because apparently their definition of Joker/Harley is 'abusive' and it would've been super ooc to suddenly have Jerome run around choking girls into submissions and shooting them so they're not better than him when he's canonly into women who could kick his ass and values them as potential allies (Bridget)).

some important things just about everyone in this fandom seems to forget:

jerome was an abused child who most likely thouvht bitchmiah was dead when he killed lila

also do me a favor and try to think of anything that actually has abusive sibling and calls them out as being abusive. now let me guess, nothing other than maybe s2 and s3 of stranger things came up. maybe the unbrella academy. but thats it. youll hear about abusive parents, friends, partners, but never siblings. its always ‘sibling rivarly’ and ‘all siblings fight’. chances are jerome thought that anything jeremiah did to him was normal and just part of having a sibling. hell, een if you look yp abusive siblings its all just ‘do you have a narcissist/psychopath/sociopath as a sibling’ which doesnt help anyone and only serves to spread harmful stigma about mental disorders, but i highlry doubt jerome had internet access anyway.

this one is less of a characterizing thing but zach literally held jeromes arm in a pot of boiling soup?? that would do so much damage especiakly without good medical care??

Consider this

Instead of Jeremiah getting gassed, it was Bruce.

Like Bruce walked Jeremiah home back to the bunker, discussing more about the partnership with Wayne Enterprises. Jeremiah going to change out of his suit with some blood on it and Bruce still in the workplace. He sees the gift and because he's had a tiring day and isn't firing on all cylinders he opens it up.

But this boy, this boy is a little smarter so once he sees Jack in the box he backs away. But the bunker was made to be airtight, not letting anything get out. The gas releases and the first thing Jeremiah hears is the laughing screams of his new friend.

All of those vampire comments finally held some ground.

For Bruce it doesn't do much in the terms of being crazy, just makes him a bit more truthful. Less inhibitions. The first thing he does when Jeremiah comes rushing in the room is telling him that he looks absolutely beautiful before promptly passing out.

When he wakes up it's on a cot in Jeremiah's spare bedroom, the one that Ecco had only stayed in once or twice, like when Jerome escaped from Arkham the first time or when Lila Valeska was declared dead. The twin was waiting anxiously in the chair sitting parallel from the bed, staring with watchful but unseeing eyes at the deathly not corpse of Bruce.

It is dawned on Jeremiah in the 3 hours that Bruce left, it had dawned on him but the gas wasn't meant for the billionaire, no it was meant for him. Jerome had left one last trick, one last cruel prank on his brother but once again Bruce Wayne had foiled his plans. Jeremiah would admit to not being very interested in Bruce, borrowings of worry he got for anyone that came within 5 ft of Jerome. And there might have been a bit of curiosity on how this one boy got caught up in so many of those schemes but he wasn't really that interesting until he came to the bunker.

Came and convinced Jeremiah to walk like a lamb to slaughter.

And he became even more interesting by inviting the young inventor into a partnership with Wayne Enterprises, something he had only scarcely dreamed of, a tickle in the back of his mind ever since he worked with Thomas Wayne on the plaza.

But now, now Jeremiah was scared for this boy, of this boy. And when classy blue eyes stared up at his own sea green, he felt a little spark night in the cold dark part of him that failed to thrive in the circus.

Hey if I made this into an actual fic, would anyone be interested in reading?

5x03: Penguin, Our Hero (A Review)

Hey there everybody! It’s time for another Gotham review, this time on the third episode of the season, “Penguin, Our Hero”. I had been waiting for this episode for a long time now for many reasons, and I have to say that this one has to be my favorite of the season so far. There were so many iconic lines and scenes, and I can honestly say that next week is probably going to be even better! 

WARNING: This includes spoilers. If you have not seen the episode yet and want to avoid seeing any information about it, I would advise you to not look at this until you have done so. Without further ado, let’s get started!

First, I would like to thank Andrew Sellon for being fantastic throughout the seasons as Mr. Penn. He added a wonderful character to the show, and was going to be in this season even more if it hadn’t been the last. (He was supposed to be the Ventriloquist.) I personally loved Mr. Penn, he really seemed like such a nice character that kind of kept the show balanced in a way. Thank you, RIP Mr. Penn! He will be missed!

Next, I would like to review what I thought about some of the arcs of major characters and scenes that were incredible throughout Trespassers. They are in no particular order! Here we go!

Penguin’s Grand Entrance

What an iconic way to open up an episode! I freaking loved the choir singing as he walked down the stairs, and how the cinematography captured it perfectly. Then, there was Edward the Dog, who was adorable as ever this episode! (I think I said “awwww” every time he came on screen.) The atmosphere of the scene drastically changed when Penguin went from conducting his choir to the Street Demons breaking in, and to me, it was just the perfect opening for the episode!

Batcat vs. #Mutantgang

This scene was just as awesome in its own ways as it was hyped to be. First of all, Selina was so ready to take them down, and I really loved that she was back to being her old self as she cracked a few jokes. I got scared for the leader as she was slashing his face really quickly, and I will admit that, besides the fact that he’s a weird looking killing machine, the Leader seemed kind of innocent and soft (to a degree, of course. He seemed like the type of guy to be all tough on the outside but fluffy on the inside.) Bruce admiring Selina will always be one of my favorite things about Batcat, and this scene really captured it in the moment. I’m so ready to see what other tricks they have up their sleeve in the next few episodes!

The Church of Jeremiah Valeska

Honest to God, WHY IS JEREMIAH LIKE THIS? The boy has a cult now, and his face is on all these candles/stained glass windows. I’m not really surprised at this, as I saw in that one Entertainment Weekly Review that there was a death cult idolizing him. When I found that out, I was laughing because I was in so much shock! Ecco was mysterious as ever in this scene, and I loved the way she was moving around, it really gave the scene that much more creepiness. Why anyone would bother to join this is besides me, I mean, I guess there’s the possibility of meeting Jeremiah? But still. Russian Roulette is a HUGE price for a meet and greet. Then again, this is Gotham. I loved these scenes, though! I wonder if we’ll see any more of the “church” in the future!

👏ECCO👏

FRANCESCA ROOT-DODSON!!! Wow. As most of you probably know, I’ve always loved Ecco’s character. The fact that she was heavily featured in this episode made me so happy! Not only this, but Francesca’s acting skills are truly amazing. Whether it was the fight against Selina, the scene that so perfectly paralleled Jerome’s in 2x02, or her personality, she perfectly encapsulated this psycho character who was different than the average Harley Quinn interpretation. I like how she was much darker than the original Harley, and her unique origin story really explained why she went nuts all of the sudden. I noticed that she also used innuendos a lot during her scenes, I’m guessing Jeremiah has been treating her well? All in all, I was absolutely floored by her performance this episode. I’m ecstatic to see her in the rest of the season! 

Jim and Oswald Team Up / Penguin being an actual Hero!

When Jim and Oswald realized they had to work together, it was very humorous to me, as we saw Jim roll his eyes and the two of them turn back to back and shimmy down. I like it how the two of them had to put aside their differences to work together, as it provided to have wholesome results for the ending of the episode. After Penguin killed the bad guys and started cheering “PENGUIN!” the episode really came full circle as it started out with his own people singing this song to him, to the citizens of Haven cheering for him as he became a hero to not only himself, but to the others this time around. Edward walking back to him and his little smile really made me happy, as Oswald was doing something to help the people he once turned his back on. I loved it!

Since there were too many scenes for me to have the time to cover, I’ll have some honorable mentions! The Batcat kiss, Selina doing some acrobatics on the cars as they were walking to the Church of Jeremiah, the plot twist of what happened to Haven at the end, Barbara’s “Hi Pengy! BYE PENGY!”, Will Thomas being a good kid, and Mr. Penn all really put the icing on the cake.

Now is the time for a few questions I have about the latest episode!

Who blew up Haven? Honestly, I hope everyone who was inside the Haven is alright, I know they’re just TV characters, but still! It could be anyone. I don’t think it’s Jeremiah, because his I feel like he wouldn‘t really have a true motive in doing that. It could be Zsaz, as we know he’s in the next episode. If this is the case, I wonder why he did it!

What happened to the other Ecco and Selina scenes? I remember a while ago, when the first official season 5 picture of Ecco came out, and Tze Chun said that it was from his first episode, AKA Penguin, Our Hero. The photo Francesca posted the day of wasn’t in the episode either. In that one, you can see Selina’s hair to the very left. Are they in the next one? I’m not really sure, but most likely. If I had to sum up the episode with one Jeremiah Valeska mood, it would be:

I was so shook. What an incredible episode!

I can’t even describe how excited I am for the rest of the season. If it’s going to be this iconic, I think it will be the best season of a TV show in history. Maybe I’m a bit biased because I’m such a huge fan of this show, but you can’t deny that this one is crazy. Also, we get Jeremiah next week! NEXT WEEK! I’m too excited.

so I saw @hausdixon say that the masked character is Christian Alexander Rozakin and while that at the time seemed to be true

update: it isn’t him either

from the recent “Live Love Jerome” we can see both of them in the same scene together in the grave yard...

also, the masked figure’s body shape looked far too slight to be Rozakin, whoever it is is either female or a slimmer built man

so the masked person’s identity is still unknown. All we know is that it isn’t Ecco, it isn’t Harley and it isn’t Jongleur either

I do find it odd that the trailer keeps skipping between the masked person and Bruce in quick succession, paralleling them both with Jeremiah. I know the the next synopsis says that Bruce is going to struggle with something psychologically so I wonder if there’s any connection there?

Ci sono messaggi in ogni gioco, come Pac-Man. Sai per cosa sta "Pac"? P-A-C. Program And Control. Lui è l'uomo del programma e del controllo. E' tutta una metafora! Crede di avere il libero arbitrio, ma è incastrato in un labirinto, in un sistema. Puo' solo consumare. E' inseguito da demoni che sono nella sua testa e anche se scappa uscendo dal lato del labirinto che succede? Torna subito dentro, dall'altro lato. Per le persone è un gioco felice, ma non lo è. E' un cazzo di mondo da incubo e la cosa peggiore è che è reale, ci viviamo dentro. E' tutto un codice. Se ascolti bene riesci a sentire i numeri. E' un diagramma cosmico che detta dove puoi e dove non puoi andare. Ti ho dato la conoscenza. Ti ho liberato. Lo capisci? Stefan Butler: Puo' darsi. Più o meno. Colin Ritman: Siamo su un percorso. Proprio adesso, tu e io. E come un percorso finisca è irrilevante. E' come le decisioni lungo quel percorso influenzino il tutto, l'importante. Colin Ritman: Uno di noi, si butterà. Laggiù. Stefan Butler: Ma moriremmo. Colin Ritman: Non avrebbe importanza. Ci sono altre linee temporali, Stefan. Quante volte hai visto Pac-Man morire? Non è un problema. Riprova e basta. Jeremiah wasn’t in the pool. He was sitting under one of the umbrellas on a reclining chair, dressed in pale linen and blue chambray like one of those preppy summer fashion ads. Bruce, on the other hand, had just surfaced out in the deep end. He was treading water.

[Ecco] and Ivy waved, sprawled in boring oversized innertubes with glasses of sangria in hand.

“Did they send you dad’s crap after I killed him?” Jerome blurted, staring at Jeremiah’s gold-rimmed shades. “He wore ones like that.”

“I can’t fault your visual memory, for all your other sins,” Jeremiah replied with airy disdain.
