[March 23-24, 2024: Oops, 404! Shifting not Found, Caroline and Elena show up.]
⚜️ TW: My Mikaelsons are a ✨️ problem ✨️ and don't play nice at all. Death, sex, blood, violence, manipulation, and dark themes will probably be present. I don't condone any of the actions taken by these vampires, I'm just recording them. For science.
Shifting Notes:
Ugh, not gonna lie, this trip in wasn't very productive but it DID provide me another clue (about my DR-self) and set up events for later. Not every shift can be a winner, I guess?
Astrological Timing: Sun in Aries, Moon in Virgo. Notable aspect is Venus in Pisces... Creativity, romance, dreams, & devotional acts are enhanced. Mars is at 0 degrees of Pisces, encouraging spiritual action. Moon in Virgo isn't ideal for dream activities, but I wanted to experiment with shifting under an earth moon to see the difference. It did not go well.
Tumblr media
⚜️ Throughout this ordeal, my therapist has been really supportive of me and my shifting experiences. She says that documenting my trips & using them as (free therapy) a coping skill for stress is a good tool to have. When I described this particular DR to her, she said that a lot of the elements (a town with many issues, dramatic relationships, and violence) seem to coincide with situations I've already been in, & have yet to heal. This could be the common root that ties my CR-self to my DR. And to the Mikaelsons. Or, you know, I'm my DR/CR-self because it's all literally me. 😅
⚜️ I entered my DR in ghost-mode. Zoey is still deciding on her choice of outfit for the evening, tapping her chin, and staring down at the selection that I had spread out on the couches (the last time I was here).
Available Outfits:
▪︎ White hoodie with angelic wing patterns on the back. White T-shirt with sword and angel wings printed on it. Acid wash jeans that have a few rips in it.
▪︎ Green hoodie with gold oak leaf patterns on it. Green T-shirt with red, sacred heart printed on it. Normal denim jeans. No rips.
▪︎ Blue hoodie with black lacy pattern and big, golden Fleur De Lis on the back. Blue and gold T-shirt with dragon scale pattern on it. Black jeans.
▪︎ Black hoodie with red bat wing pattern & spider web design. Black, skin-tight, long sleeved shirt with keyhole and mock turtle neck. Black ripped jeans.
⚜️ I glance at the time displayed on a glass and gold-plated clock that's placed on the mantle of the fireplace in this room. It's 6:05 pm. I do a doubletake. I notice that this is the same clock my grandparents had sitting on their mantle when I was a kid. Which is weird but also kinda figures... If my DR-self is just another me in a different universe than there has to be some commonalities between us.
⚜️ I pop out of DR and take some time in my CR to listen to: "Hometown" by 21 Pilots. My DR mimics the elements of a TVD episode in that each significant event/s is preluded by a song. Also, it helps me synch with Z and get into 1st person perspective. As soon as I feel synched, I enter my DR again as Z. I decided upon the blue outfit because (my friend said I should) it started with The Originals, so... I gotta rep that Fleur De Lis! Checked myself for wallet, keys, and cellphone. Then, I chose to dig out a purse from the canvas bag just so I had something (better than pockets) to carry my stuff in.
Observation: Out of curiosity, I checked the information on my I.D. Idk, I figured the info might come in handy during conversations in the future. Apparently, I'm from Oregon and a Virgo because it says my birthday is 9-12-1992. Which is weird because in my CR, I'm a Pisces; the opposite of Virgo within the zodiac. Also, I've lived in Oregon! But Oregon is the home of Kai as per TVD canon. Does that mean my DR-self have something to do with the Gemini Coven? God, I fucking hope not.
⚜️ All ready to go, I take my purse, head out the door, and lock up the house behind me. I notice that it's golden hour outside. The sun is sinking into the horizon, shadows growing long, and darker. I see a lot of car traffic as I step out onto the sidewalk of Washington St and peer down it to gaze at the square that's three blocks away from me. There's a ton of people walking down the street and I'm sort of confused about that until I see a sign. It's announcing an "Anual Hops Festival" in lime green on white & emerald hops surrounding it. An errant wind brings the tempting aroma of fried foods and meats to me. It makes the sign tied to the street lamps flutter like they were all waving their hands at me. Extending an invitation to me to join the festival.
⚜️ I followed the crowds towards the square and came to stand at the crosswalk because the green lights were on at the intersection. It blessed me with a brief moment to assess my surroundings. I see food, beer, and gift stalls selling homemade products & trinkets. Like a farmer's market but aided by alcohol. Families with children sit on picnic blankets in the lawn areas of the square. People walk all around with giant pretzels and cold drinks in their hands. There's a huge stall that has these fancy barbecue pits. They're roasting huge chickens and pork ribs slathered with sticky, red sauce. The sounds of delight fill the air. How did they set this up so fast? The square was normal this afternoon. Eh...
⚜️ The intersection flashes red. The crowd I'm in crosses the street towards the park in the square. Suddenly, a voice rises above the ambient noise of the crowd. It's cheerful and bright. Infused with optimism. It's Caroline's voice. "Raffle tickets!!! Come purchase raffle tickets to help fundraise for the Mystic Falls cheerleading squad!" and "Come help raise our team up!". My eyes land on the blonde. I see that she's sitting at a fold-out table with a large donation bucket placed on it. Next to her is a brunette with ramrod straight hair & a silver locket around her neck. Elena. I feel my pulse instantly race. I wasn't prepared to have any (main) character encounters! I was planning to scope things out beforehand. It looks like my DR has other plans...
⚜️ I try to avoid the encounter by continuing to walk with the crowd, ignoring the two, but as soon as I do...Caroline points her finger at me. "YOU!!" she exclaims, "Would you like to purchase tickets? It's for a GOOD CAUSE!". I feel my feet stop. Involuntarily, I turn to look at Caroline and then move towards the table. My CR-self's anxiety is getting worse while Z is like: 'That's weird, my heart is racing'. Care tells me that tickets are 5 $ for 1 ticket, 10$ for 2 tickets, and 20$ for a whole line. Raffle prizes are picked at 10 pm. I catch Caroline's face register that she's never seen me before and asks if I know about Mystic Falls cheer squad. And that they're the best in the state & won competitions.
⚜️ Elena is staring at me. She has the same kind of puzzled/who is this person? look on her face. There's a hint of suspicion mixed in. When I go to answer Caroline's question, I suddenly de-synch with Zoey and wake back up in my CR. UGH. My social anxiety. I know you're supposed to be able to script it out. I can't seem to do that currently. I'll have to go in and try again later. There's a lunar eclipse tomorrow anyways...

Aaron T🧡
🎵Favourite 4*Town Song?
U Know What’s Up
😁Favourite Relationship? (Platonic or Romantic)
Jesse and Z (JessZ) platonically
🌹Share a Robaire headcanon
Super niche but okay; they did a production of Hairspray at Ro and Z’s high school and when Robaire got the role of Seaweed, Z was pissed as hell because he had a crush on the girl playing Penny😂
💭What is your favourite memory related to 4*Town?
When I first fell into this fandom; after a really shitty few months of personal struggles, I found so much comfort in 4 Town, I can’t even explain. My mind was suddenly filled with them and not the other difficult stuff I’d been dealing with 🧡
🛍If you could have any 4*Town merch, real or fake, what would you want?
All of their CDs with all of the music!
🎨Share a Jesse headcanon
He’s Jewish and found out through taking one of those cool DNA tests. It means a lot to him because he doesn’t know his biological parents, but found out this fact about his heritage and is determined to honour it 💙
✍️Do you create art? What kind? (Plug it!)
Nooo, unless writing counts? My masterlist is here…
👀 Do you have any unpopular opinions? What are they?
That the T/Z dynamic is…kinda overrated…
*runs and hides*
🕊Share a Tae headcanon
He’s an only child! Joining 4 Town was a big deal and he had to get used to the idea of being close to a group of people, but 4 Town are his brothers and nothing will change that 💕
💅If you were in charge of making a Turning Red spinoff about 4*Town, what would you do?
Behind the scenes about them with individual interviews! Plus some footage of them meeting fans (Mei and co.) BECAUSE IT’S WHAT WE DESERVE. Like a bonus scene where they asked for help with the ritual…
🎧What are some songs that remind you of 4*Town?
Baby One More Time reminds me so much of Z it’s ridiculous.
🧢Share an Aaron T headcanon
He’s half Brazilian, half Sicilian! It explains a lot about his personality honestly😂
🤠Which member do you think you'd get along with the best?
Probably…Jesse? As a friend! But Z romantically *coughs*
🧜‍♀️If 4*Town were to release another album, what concept would you want it to be?
Self love/body positivity!
🏀Share an Aaron Z headcanon
He’s a twin! He has a twin sister named Arielle and she’s very vibrant and extroverted. Although he loves her, living in her shadow has made him as shy as he is.
😐Which member is your nemisis (affectionate)?
T, in the best possible way! I’m such a neat freak and I know that all that would go out the window after 5 mins with him…
🩰What is something you love about the 4*Townie community?
Our passion for 4 Town! It’s pretty special 🥰

4*town!!!
I love your songs so much!!!
I think I am your biggest fan ever!!!
please reply 4*town! I need more songs to sing too!! Please?
Robaire: Ha, guys, another 4Townie! Well, I'm actually super surprised that you're our fan even though we spend most of our time writing some music: that is until "Girl, I Luv Ur Jeans" which we're currently writing at the moment, it was initially my mother's idea to release this as a way for me and the rest of the group to debut onto the music scene. So until, then, we're still writing and don't forget to keep those fan letters coming, we'll be willing to answer questions to support your views! Au revoir, mon amour!!
Jesse: I just got up early to reply to this comment from another fan of us, you, isn't it? Couldn't you see those bags that I had in my eyes? Even when I continued jotting down ideas with my head down on the table? Okay, okay, I'm just exaggerating here, anyways... Thanks for tuning in onto our content for so long, if you're wondering about our discography, "Girl, I Luv Ur Jeans" is almost done so, I'll have to get the group to post the lyrics showing that it's almost ready, but for now, I would like to thank you and the rest of the 4townies for supporting us even during our haydays, like a family... It just shows that I'm not alone now, when it comes to having kids and a group of friends by my side, we are family.
Aaron T: HI THERE FELLOW 4TOWNIE!!! Sorry if I'm a bit too loud but the energy just overflowed through me naturally after our tour. Anyhow, that song that is being mentioned, is on its way to becoming "a masterpiece", Ha, I JUST QUOTED Z, Y'ALL!! Ok, ok, am I being a bit too much, maybe I am, Okay, since I came across this way later than the rest of the guys, I would like to say thank you for leading us to where we are today, if the OG 4townies didn't exist, we would cease like dust, wouldn't we? So, again, thank you so much, there's more to come!
Aaron Z: Ah ha, another fan begging for me to answer their question, well, I'm not really the most social but I'll say it anyway, ah hmm. The song is 98% done all thanks to us working our butts off to release this track, I was originally going to say my previous line until T just, well, was continuing to be the T he is! Now, thanks for being a fan for us, even when we were powerless at times, it was your support that made me and the boys stand stronger, they're always the ones who led me to pick up the pieces on my journey and re-build them to create a new path!
Tae Young: Hey hey, I'm glad we've got another fan begging for more music, let me just say this: lyrics: 100% done, production: 98% done and vocals: 99% done! It's nearly done! Now, as a final, I would like to thank all the 4townies for support that makes me feel comfortable with my group and makes me overcome my fears of large crowds over the years, but with you and the boys' help, I've grown into the person I'm today! Thanks!

This ask is not about MLC cuz this eoisode was too much and I still need time to process it and I will not have that time cuz tomorrow we get another episode and I am not ready yet!
Still this is about the fact that I believe they have started shooting Double Savage(not that I really care at this point considering who is in it...) and I thought that this year Gmmtv is really mooving fast! like they are airing 2 2023 shows, have 23.5, Our Skyy2, Double Savage, Lonliness Society starting production/shooting and have the last 2022 shows wrapping production and be on their way
So it got me thinking that they decided to move things up a lot faster compared to last year! maybe they reflected on the DISASTER of a year for airing dates that 2022 was and how they had so many shows bleed in 2023 cuz of delayed production or other reasons and decided to move the fuck on with the new shows? still hope they keep it up and not slack off by mid year
on a side side note I saw this translated tweet of Force: https://twitter.com/mesemerry_/status/1628385884696637442?t=z-xWaH6pHu-vD-VwLBL2wA&s=19 And what does late of this year meen!? like summer? fall? end of the year? still it is to long I need it now!
yeah they're really not playing around this year jdkfghdf I'm very impressed.
Double Savage is about halfway done, Boss and Babe is pretty much done, they've been filming Our Skyy 2 since January and Only Friends & Loneliness Society are also on the way, along with some other stuff. And Midnight Museum starts next week.
Looks like they learned from their mistakes from last year and I'm very glad they did because yeah what a disaster that was lmao. I also hope they don't slack off but so far it's looking good so I'm optimistic.
About that video from Force: He just says OF is coming this year lol so it could be anytime. However based on the production stage they're at, which is script writing + revision my guess is still fall. definitely not "soon" lmao.

Exploring the Timeless Appeal of Classic Vintage Muscle Cars
In the fast-paced world of automobiles, where each passing year brings forth innovations and modern designs, a class of vehicles seems to defy the sands of time. With their roaring engines and iconic designs, classic vintage muscle cars maintain an enduring appeal that transcends generations. This article explores the reasons behind the timeless allure of these automotive legends.
The Birth of an Icon
Classic muscle cars arose in the mid-twentieth century, fueled by post-World War II optimism and a thirst for speed. Sensing a demand for excitement on the road, American automakers developed muscle cars. The Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and Dodge Charger emerged as trailblazers, representing the spirit of defiance and power that defined a period. These brands are characterized by unique engine and body parts that ultimately make the automobile stand out. You can see more info here about various automotive products from these brands.
The allure of classic muscle cars lies in their performance and their symbolism. These vehicles were born when the open road symbolized freedom and driving was not just a means of transportation but an expression of individualism and adventure.
Some of the most iconic classic muscle cars that have left an indelible mark on the industry are:
Ford Mustang
Model Years: 1964-1973
The Ford Mustang is an American icon and one of the pioneers of the muscle car era. Its introduction in 1964 created the “pony car” class, offering a blend of style, performance and affordability. The 1967 Shelby GT500 is particularly revered, featuring a powerful 428 Cobra Jet engine.
Dodge Charger
Model Years: 1966-1974
The Dodge Charger is known for its bold design and powerful engines. The second-generation Charger (1968-1970) is often considered the pinnacle, with the iconic “Bullitt” Charger R/T and the monstrous Charger Daytona, designed for NASCAR dominance. The 1969 Charger, immortalized in movies like “The Dukes of Hazzard,” is particularly iconic.
Chevrolet Camaro
Model Years: 1967-1969
The Chevrolet Camaro is another heavyweight in the muscle car arena. The first-generation Camaro, especially the SS and Z/28 models, is celebrated for its aggressive styling and high-performance options. The 1969 Camaro ZL1 is one of the most sought-after muscle cars, boasting an all-aluminum 427 cubic-inch engine.
Pontiac GTO
Model Years: 1964-1974
Often credited as the first true muscle car, the Pontiac GTO paved the way for the revolution. The early GTOs, especially the 1966 model with the potent Tri-Power carburetion system, are highly coveted. The GTO embodied putting a big engine in a midsize car, creating a formula that defined the muscle car ethos.
Model Years: 1964-1972
Chevrolet Chevelle SS:
The Chevelle SS is a classic example of Chevrolet’s prowess in crafting muscle cars. The SS (Super Sport) package, available on various Chevelle models, turned these midsize cars into high-performance beasts. The 1970 Chevelle SS with the LS6 454 cubic-inch V8 is legendary, boasting one of the highest factory horsepower ratings of the era.
Design Elegance that Stands the Test of Time
The timeless design of classic muscle vehicles is one of their distinguishing features. The sleek forms, forceful poses and eye-catching color palettes distinguish them from their counterparts. The union of form and function in these vehicles reflects a time when style was just as vital as substance. Even in the middle of a sea of modern automobiles, the timeless beauty of their design guarantees that these cars remain head-turners.
Classic muscle cars are not just machines but works of art on wheels. The aesthetic appeal of their design is not subject to the whims of passing trends, making them a testament to the notion that true beauty is eternal.
Nostalgia and Cultural Significance
Beyond their mechanical prowess, classic muscle cars carry a cultural significance that adds layers to their timeless appeal. These vehicles are not just relics of the past; they are living reminders of a bygone era. Nostalgia plays a pivotal role in their enduring popularity, as they evoke memories of when the automobile represented more than just a mode of transportation.
Movies, music and popular culture have all contributed to the mystique surrounding classic muscle cars. From iconic scenes in films to the rock ‘n’ roll tunes that echoed through the radio waves, these cars became intertwined with the cultural fabric of their time. Owning a classic muscle car is not just about having a vehicle; it’s about possessing a piece of history that encapsulates the spirit of an era.
Conclusion
In a world where trends come and go and technology advances relentlessly, classic vintage muscle cars stand as stalwart guardians of a bygone era. The birth of these iconic vehicles marked a turning point in automotive history, and their timeless allure continues to captivate enthusiasts across the globe. From the engine’s roar to the elegance of their design, classic muscle cars are more than just vehicles; they are living legends, embodying the spirit of an age that refuses to be forgotten.

WAIT WAIT I NEED TO ASK THIS
What are their favorite scents? I know it sounds weird but I have that existential doubt
4town members’ favorite scents headcanons!!
Robaire - Robaire loves the smell of the outdoors. He loves the smell of grass and the woods because he loves spending a lot of his spare time in nature. He often takes the other members on road trips to his favorite places and sometimes they go camping (obviously somewhere very private and inaccessible to fans) so smells like grass and pine trees really make him feel happy and at peace. Robaire also really loves the smell of coffee because he is an avid coffee drinker. He owns several coffee scented products (mostly body scrubs). He also loves coffee flavored things like candies and ice cream, but he often says he thinks the smell of coffee is even better than the taste of it.
Jesse - obviously, Jesse is an artist so the smells of things like clay and paint appeal to him and bring back fond memories of when he first got interested in art. Apart from these smells, Jesse loves any clean, fresh scent and he owns a bunch of scented candles that are all over the house and around the bathtub. Jesse will not buy a product if it doesn’t smell perfect to him, so he is very picky about his haircare and skincare products and lotions etc. one of his favorite scents is mint, but it has to smell just like the plant and not be too strong. When a product that is mint scented smells artificial and too candy-like, Jesse gets unreasonably disappointed. Especially if it was something he was looking forward to smelling (and maybe buying).
Tae Young - Tae has always been pretty into baking and so he is immediately drawn to the smell of baked goods like pastries, cakes, cookies, macarons etc. Another one of Tae’s favorite scents is rose, but like Jesse, it has to smell just like the plant and not be really artificial smelling. He uses a lot of rose-derived products like facial sprays, moisturizers, and serums. In addition to roses, Tae loves the smell of vanilla. He has several vanilla candles to compete with Jesse’s candles. His haircare products are ever-changing but they always smell amazing and end up earning lots of compliments from the other members.
Aaron T - T is a big fan of anything strawberry scented, just as long as it isn’t overwhelmingly artificial or sweet smelling. Without even realizing it, he began to collect strawberry scented products until pretty much all of his personal care products became strawberry scented (aside from skincare products because he doesn’t want to put anything with a fragrance on his face lol) but his shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotions all are. His hair and clothes always wind up smelling like it. But T’s #1 favorite smell is Z’s cologne/combination of the other products Z uses. T and Z are completely inseparable and have severe separation anxiety, so when they are apart, he sometimes sleeps with one of Z’s shirts and it makes him feel a little less depressed and anxious. This also makes it so that whenever T smells that specific cologne somewhere else he’s like “…what? No one else is allowed to wear that. That’s Z’s thing.”
Aaron Z - one of Z’s favorite scents of all time is the smell of fresh laundry. To Z, one of the greatest things in life is putting on warm new clothes straight out of the dryer right after a nice shower. Just as with T, Z’s number one favorite smell is strawberries, more specifically T’s scented products. It has gotten to the point where if anything smells like strawberries he gravitates towards it because he is subconsciously looking for T. Or if Tae is baking something with strawberries in it he’s just like “oh my god the whole house smells like T’s hair.” But he’s not mad about it. Z also has several of T’s shirts for when they are apart. In fact, Z had started doing this long before T knew about it. But T’s heart melted when he found out, and now they both do it. Being able to smell T’s shirts calms him down and brings him a lot of comfort. Without which, Z might not be able to fall asleep.
I hope you liked these :) and keep the requests comingggg!!

"if the message speaks for you, it is made for you" - Cleo Loque (2021)
Women's empowerment has evolved through the years, and it has continued to expand, which has made the community and feminist group larger and larger. The growing awareness of women's empowerment signifies an important change in societal perspectives and promotes the growth of an advocacy community dedicated to gender equality.
Wearing statement pieces that show power through print, such as Hiraya Pilipina's products, is one way we can show our support and advocacy for women. Hiraya Pilipina, as a women-owned business, understands the challenges that women face on a daily basis. As a result, they put in a lot of work to create products that encourage women to embrace their unique selves and feel empowered. In the long run, Hiraya Pilipina is a brand that inspires women who are struggling to feel confident.

Cleo Loque, the founder of Hiraya Filipina, is a student who manages both her academics and her brand. When Cleo was just entering Grade 11 of her senior high school years at San Beda University-Rizal, she launched Hiraya Pilipina and issued its first catalog in July 2019. "To spearhead my own growing business makes me feel like a proud mother who sees her baby grow, blossom, and make an impact on the community," she said when asked about being a current young female CEO.
Cleo Loque sees her company as a lifestyle, a "home to women-empowering products." "Hiraya Pilipina is all about community. It is our vision to build a community of Filipino women across the globe who can see our brand as a safe space for them to listen and be heard," Loque stated. The CEO makes it clear that anyone can wear their empowering t-shirts. Loque emphasized that Hiraya Pilipina's goal is to create a brand that not only offers empowering products but also fosters a sense of belonging and support among Filipino women worldwide. By building a community, the brand aims to provide a safe space where women can share their stories, find inspiration, and empower one another. Additionally, Loque emphasizes that the empowering tees are inclusive and available for anyone who resonates with their message, regardless of gender identity. Their vision is to create a global community of Filipino women who see the brand as a safe haven.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of Hiraya Pilipina's famous best-selling prints are "Abante Babae" and "How are you". Not only has become a symbol of empowerment and solidarity among women, encouraging them to move forward and break down barriers but also promotes their health and well-being. Their eye-catching designs and low price make it a popular choice for those looking to make a fashion statement.
As for Hiraya Pilipina's Future products, Cleo Loque stated that "Although we started with statement shirts, masks, and bags, we are no longer leaning toward fashion. Our direction now is to improve women’s intimate care in the Philippines with our products such as nipple pasties, boob tapes, and hair removers. Soon, we’ll venture into period care and wellness. That’s the direction we’re going."

Some Late Night Thots: Consumerism
Consumerism when applied in witchcraft and occult settings would have newcomers believe that you need a variety of herbs and crystals and wands and tarot decks etc. in order to get shit done. A lot of the time, I encounter folks who approach magic and spirits like they're slot machines, put in t, u, and v to get z. And then comes the frustration. "Why did my pentacles not work if I made x amount over such and such amount of days?" "Why are my petitions not following through if I gave such and such offerings on this attempt?" It has been my experience that folks are in such a hurry to get their hands on the ingredients that they forget the foundations.
Established practitioners may harp on the basics a lot on Tumblr, but from my perspective, it's not because they are pushing or trying to simplify magic to rote or mundane tasks/methods. It's about building and learning the ground work. You can recite a script and all you will have is words just as you can buy a crystal and all you will have is a rock. The power of the spoken word comes from mastery, familiarity, and/or knowledge of the ways in which it has formed the occult connections/associations it has within its current context. That's not to say that you have to study the development or evolution of the words you speak, but they should have knowledge that is familiar to you and/or connections that you can tangibly understand/feel or "play" off of or into.
Calling the quarters is the example I'll use as it's the most recurrent tech I've seen across a variety of practitioners and traditions. A person who just reads from a script thoughtlessly is most likely to report back that they didn't feel a response to the call or that they feel disconnected from the elements mentioned therein (though perhaps not all). A second person, who (for our purposes) identifies as being already in tune with the elements/nature to start, may not say the same, but may instead feel that the evocations didn't carry as much oomph as can be described in various texts. And the variation in results can, and do, go on.
My point here is primarily that personal background and the foundation work one has already laid impacts success and results. Simply grabbing a spell from another practitioner and replicating the 12+ ingredients and tools used is not guaranteed to bring success, though it may have for them. Within even the small group of occultists and practitioners I converse with, through discussions we've found our associations vary, with more than one herb being applied to a number of different purposes/uses than that which is "common" knowledge depending on who is speaking. It's entirely possible that a newcomer may rush to fill their pantry with a variety of herbs and then find that just combining them as described in another's post doesn't work for this very reason. Those connection were likely learnt or developed in some manner, whether through personal study, spiritual guidance, or what have you.
I can see how it may seem like magic is being oversimplified when consumerist mindsets abound in such a small community, but really, learning those basics is in no way going to hurt anyone or hold them back from developing more intricate, solidly built spell work. In fact, I might argue that those "beginner" spells bouncing through the Tumblr halls with ingredients lists longer than the written notes/instructions available are doing more harm than basic superstitious or folk magic posts I've seen (i.e. throw salt over your shoulder, etc.). At least the latter doesn't require you to purchase $50 worth of product for a one-off attempt at mimicking someone else's work.

More Fat Fendered Cars
In a world where plastic toys dominate the market, handmade wooden toys hold a special place in the hearts of those who appreciate the craftsmanship and durability that comes with them. One example is this fat-fendered handmade wood toy panel truck.
This charming toy truck is a product of the creative mind and skilled hands of the artisan who made it. The truck's design is inspired by classic American pickups from the 1940s and 50s, with its distinctive fat-fendered body. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the truck, from the carefully crafted wheels to the painted exterior.
One of the most appealing features of this wooden toy truck is its durability. This handmade truck is built to last, unlike plastic toys that can easily break or wear down over time. The solid wood construction can withstand rough play.
Another benefit of buying a handmade wooden toy like this truck is that it is eco-friendly. Many plastic toys end up in landfills, where they can take hundreds of years to decompose. In contrast, wooden toys are biodegradable and can be easily recycled or repurposed when no longer needed.
When you purchase a handmade wooden toy like this panel truck, you are supporting a small business and skilled artisan and investing in a toy that will last for years. It's the perfect gift for a child or collector who appreciates classic American trucks' beauty and nostalgia.
In conclusion, the handmade fat-fendered wood toy panel truck is a beautiful and durable toy that will delight children and adults alike. Its classic design, attention to detail, and eco-friendliness make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a unique, high-quality toy. So why settle for a plastic toy when you can have a handmade wooden one built to last?

It’s For You
It is now safe to say that we have an entire generation that has known cell phones their entire lives. They have never felt the need for a land line. They have always had a phone in pocket or purse, ranging from 10-key flip phones, to sliders, Blackberrys, and more recently, smartphones.

I’m talking about Generation Z, of course, the social cohort whose demarcation year—1997—is considered the point after which online life had become nearly ubiquitous. What those demographers overlooked, though, is that this was about the same time that cell phone ownership became nearly as common. While we can all take some credit in this, Gen-Z quickly realized that these phones are for more than just talking or texting. They are lifestyle devices.

I got my first cell phone in 1994, a Motorola bag phone that had to be tethered to both vehicle power and a rooftop antenna. It was basically a heavy walkie-talkie, but it worked. And boy howdy were the fees high. I paid by the minute, which went down a little bit in the evening. Suffice it to say, I only used it for very important calls.

Tumblr media
What most people don’t realize is that the first cell phone was introduced in 1973. Marty Cooper is credited as being the inventor, the visionary who saw the need for mobile communications. But the wheels had already started rolling at least a decade prior, because the Dallas Police Department already had dictaphones for squad car and motorcycle cops when John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. They relied on a cellular network much like that which we have today, albeit with much less clarity.
It’s just that it took a long time for this product to diffuse, primarily because of cost. They required development of an entirely new infrastructure, one which we are still trying to complete. I laugh at T-Mobile’s ads that say they have 99% of all Americans covered. Right. If they all stay home. The ad says nothing about how much (or how little) geography they have covered, which we have all discovered whenever we fall off the grid out west.

But now Mr. Cooper, still a visionary, predicts a future in which we will all have cell phones implanted under our skin. Cue the Biblical prophesies of end times and all that once more. It’s one thing to envision using our palm print to buy at an Amazon store. It’s quite another to imagine our iPhone embedded in our body.
It’s not like others haven’t already tried to go down this road, but it was with wearables. Google Glass was a well-intended but poorly deployed set of eyewear that could function much like a smartphone. It landed with a $1500 thud in 2013. More recently, there is the collab between Meta and Ray-Ban that has yielded similar glasses.
But wearables have always been more about the hype than the hope for a better user experience. They still have a long way to go, which may have served as impetus for Mr. Cooper to picture a phone that was not just on our body, but also in it.

Of course, this leaves a lot of other unanswered questions, because without a visual aspect, it just becomes another Alexa device. We need screens somewhere, which necessarily involves a handheld device, or perhaps holograms that are projected before our eyes. Now it’s time to cue the crashes and missteps.

And how might we issue orders? By merely thinking of them? Or would we have to actually say something, kind of like we do with our digital assistants today? And if we are texting to someone, would we similarly have to enunciate it and rely on voice dictation—which can be dangerous—to get the job done?
Now imagine the ability to merely “think” something into action. Or being able to instruct the computer that is inside your head to access ChatGPT and have it compose an essay while you are finishing an in-class exam. Of course, you’d have to be able to download it somehow, but those are mere details. And consider social media. We might be able to post content, as well as click the Like and Heart icons without ever tapping a finger. The possibilities are limitless.

By now you have probably detected that I am poking a little fun at this notion. Truthfully, I consider it just a bit absurd. Well, I once thought the same of the first iPhone, but a year later I drank the Kool-Aid. I have guzzled it ever since, and I bet I could just as easily drink from this fountain as well. I think Mr. Cooper’s idea needs some fine-tuning and then selling. It could take a few years, maybe decades.
Just like the first cell phones needed a quarter of a century before they took off. Innovations can be like that. Gen-Z can say they were at least here for the beginning of the conversation of the embedded phone, but there may be a couple more generations down the road before one emerges that can lay claim to having lived their entire lives with it.

And now I am left trying to figure out what my generation can claim as ours. I’m thinking color television and microwave ovens. They’re not much, but they were a start, and we embraced them. You’re welcome.

I was tagged by @onmywaytonarnia so here's some stuff about me
Nickname: Florida Man or just Florida (god help me, I hate it down here...)
Sign: PEDESTRIAN X-ING, REST AREA - 3 MILES, or perhaps SPEEDING FINES DOUBLED WHEN WORKERS PRESENT (I do not believe in astrology)
Height: 6'1" or 6'2"
Last thing I googled: Perseverance rover
Song stuck in my head: for some reason I have a mashup of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson stuck in my head. I don't know if I actually heard a mashup somewhere, or if they were both part of that 4-chords song by Axis of Awesome, but I can't stop thinking of the two choruses layered on top of each other (🎶and I don't want the world to see me cause I don't think that they'd understand/🎶I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly🎶)
Follower count: officially 3222, but I noticed when I was just starting out that tumblr inflated the actual count by like 20, 30, 40%. When it said I had 100 followers, I counted, and I actually had 85. When it said I had 1000, I only had like 700. I stopped counting after that, so I have no clue how many I actually have right now. Probably more than 1000, but probably not more than 2000. I have maybe 100 followers who regularly interact with my stuff, about 30 of whom are mutuals (maybe 10 or 15 close friends).
Amount of aleep: AHAHAHAHAHAHA (5, maybe 6 hours on a good night? Sometimes none, just endless tossing and turning because my brain won't shut off)
Lucky number: 13, and I'm not being ironic about that. I'm serious. 13 is my favorite number of a variety if personal reasons
Dream job: I want to be part of a creative team, I want to work with a bunch of people to make something for people to see! I want to make art, and I want to collaborate so I'm not alone. Writing scripts or making props or dressing sets, some manner of production design. I want to craft!
Wearing: Goodfellow t-shirt and cargo shorts
Movie/book that summarizes me: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir feels like it was written for me personally. That is how my thought process works, that is how I deal with problems, that is who I want to be. I have a higher than average understanding of math and science but I always try to explain it in as simple terms as possible for people who find it all too daunting. This is the kind of book I want to write, sci-fi that explains the sci.
Favorite songs: Ramblin Man, the Gambler, Country Roads, the Devil Went Down to Georgia (I'm noticing a country pattern...), anything by Weird Al Yankovic (Hardware Store and Albuquerque are probably my top 2 of his),the Little Shop of Horrors movie soundtrack, White Squall and Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers (I went through a sea shanty phase when Wellerman was big), anything by Jonathan Coulton (Skullcrusher Mountain, Code Monkey, Blue Sunny Day, Big Wide World One, Shop Vac, Mandelbrot Set, to name a few), Climb Out Your Window, Addicted, and Here We Go by Walk off the Earth, and the Celtic Woman cover of Danny Boy (this is my go-to cry song; if I need a nice long cry, I put this on and it all comes flowing out of me)
Favorite instrument: I love brass, trumpet specifically, I could listen to Louis Armstrong all day
Aesthetic: analog technology, typewriters, instant photography, clockwork watches without quartz, sacrificing convenience for the sake of privacy, nostalgia for the early 2000s (but through the eyes of a child, so no George W. Bullshit)
Favorite author: per capita, Andy Weir. He's only written 3 books, but I love them all and want to emulate him. Max Brooks for World War Z. Cormac McCarthy for The Road (very depressing, but hopeful near the end; one of the only books to really tug at my heartstrings). John Steinbeck for Of Mice and Men (another heartstring tugger). Audrey Niffenegger for The Time Traveler's Wife.
Currently reading: Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
Favorite colors: cyan, lime green, heliotrope purple
Favorite animal sounds: the scuttling of crabs on pavement, the sneef-snorfing of a curious dog, the bleat of a baby goat, the EHHH of a baby sloth, the MEHH of a baby deer, the chirping of bats, ethereal whale songs
Last song: either I'm Going to go Back There Someday from the Muppet Movie, or Hey I Don't Work Here by Tom Cardy
Last Series: Owl House (Lulu + Hootcifer 4ever!!! Oh yeah and lumity's pretty good too I guess)
Random: I once learned all the lyrics to Bobby Darin's Mack the Knife without ever actually listening to the lyrics of Mack the Knife. Like, I listened to the song all the time, but I never paid attention to what was being said. It was just gibberish to me, but I learned the gibberish, and I sang along to it in the car one day and my mom asked why I was so enthusiastic about murder. Turns out Mack the Knife is about an old londontown ripper named Macheath. Still a banger though.

Today’s compilation:
East Coast vs. West Coast 1988 Hip Hop
Although Jive Records began in the early 80s as a new wave and dance-pop label, and then by the late 90s had cornered the market on teen pop and boy bands, between those two points they were actually known for being a top-notch outlet for hip hop music. Back in 1982, Jive signed their first hip hop act in Whodini, and as the decade wore on, they proceeded to add more and more rap talent to their roster, including some of the genre's heaviest hitters at the time, like Boogie Down Productions, Kool Moe Dee, Schoolly D, and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.
And the year after Jive ended up signing Whodini, they also started releasing at least one hip hop compilation every year, starting with Turntable Jive, which consisted of select hip hop, electro, disco, and soul tunes. It was a tradition that would last throughout at least the remainder of the decade, and eventually culminated with the start of a new Jive sub-series of sorts in '87 called The *Word Is Rap.
In 1988, which is sometimes referred to as the greatest year that hip hop has ever had, Jive cranked The *Word Is Rap at full steam, with releases from The Wee Papa Girl Rappers, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Schoolly D, Steady B, The She Rockers, as well as a total of four compilations. Two of those compilations would highlight hip hop's lyricism (Word 2 and Word 3), one would shower some much deserved love and respect upon the DJ (Battle of the D.J.'s), and the other, East Coast vs. West Coast, would compare the differences in styles between separate scenes on opposite coasts.
Now, I'm unable to pinpoint the exact release date of this comp, but it came out the same year as N.W.A's Straight Outta Compton, which is an album that really put west coast rap in the national spotlight. And noticeably, N.W.A's not on this release. I've also always been under the impression that the whole east coast-west coast rivalry started in 1991 with Tim Dog's song, "Fuck Compton," so it's interesting to have a hip hop comp pit the two coasts against each other three years prior to that song's release, and with the title of East Coast vs. West Coast to boot too. I mean, that title is what the whole rivalry is often referred to as, right? East coast vs. west coast? So is it possible that this comp birthed the name of that whole feud?! Would love to know!
Anyway, I don't think this comp really shows the best of what either coast had to offer at the time, and you'd think that since Jive was able to license tracks from other labels that they could've selected some better tunes, but this still makes for a decent slate of mid-to-late 80s hip hop tracks. It comes with a few stone-cold classics on it, like Run-DMC's opener, "Raising Hell," which features the hard guitar of the legendary Rick Rubin. Rubin was the downright king of incorporating heavy guitars into hip hop back then, most notably with Run-DMC and The Beastie Boys, but then he proceeded to keep that tradition going in the early aughts with Jay-Z's "99 Problems." Plus, another fantastic guitar-infused track on here—this one by way of sampling Black Sabbath's "War Pigs"—is Ice-T's "Rhyme Pays," which I think can only be best described as a complete whirlwind of lyrical fury 🤯.
One other tune worth pointing out here is Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Square Dance Rap." It's a really novel piece of very silly west coast party stuff that predates "Baby Got Back" by a few years and features Sir Mix-A-Lot putting on a super corny southern drawl with his vocals pitched-up. It's just such a lovably goofy song.
Now, since this is East Coast vs. West Coast, I have to pick a winner, right? Well, I think, given this particular crop of tunes here, it's hands-down west coast. The production on most of their songs is just far more interesting and Ice-T is an absolute fucking beast on "Rhyme Pays." East Coast brought some of rap's most legendary acts to the table, like Boogie Down Productions, Kool Moe Dee, and MC Shan, but I don't think they brought either of those acts' best tunes. "Let's Go" is a good one that really showcases Kool Moe Dee's lyrical prowess as he delivers a serious tongue lashing to LL Cool J, but I've always kind of found it hard to stomach the over-the-top theatricality that he constantly put forth. I don't think it's really aged all that well, despite how obviously gifted he was at rapping on a technical level.
Highlights:
Run-DMC - "Raising Hell" Ice-T - "Rhyme Pays" Sir Mix-A-Lot - "Square Dance Rap" Rodney O & Joe Cooley - "D.J.'s and M.C.'s"
(note: I couldn’t find the exact version of Ice-T’s “Rhyme Pays” that’s featured on this comp. Every version on YouTube includes the intro from the Rhyme Pays album, but East Coast vs. West Coast doesn’t have that intro part.)
