Turns out he was an avid supporter of Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger, was firmly against immigration, believed forced sterilization should be hoisted upon women even in America if they have more than two kids, and that large families should be heavily taxed.

He and his wife were members of a pro-eugenics group and died of apparent double-suicide in 2003.

Please, please pray for his soul and for the soul of his wife. God have mercy on them.

I never understsood "family" in general, but in particular not with Dean Winchester.

Why is he telling Cas he is family (or brother) considered so profound or moving and such a huge honor he was bestowing on Cas?

All this should mean is that Castiel is important to him. But what it is made to mean is he should be important to Castiel. Castiel should have some kind of obligation to him because people have obligations to family.

This, this is why "family" was always a dirty word to me, but for SPN in particular.

On Discomfort and Morality

My father finds gay men uncomfortable.

He's told me before that it's like a knee-jerk for him. Something he doesn't consciously control. He sees two men behaving romantically, and his body reacts with mild discomfort.

In the 1960s, when he was in high school, most of the boys in his form thought he was gay on the simple fact that he wasn't homophobic. He wouldn't participate in insulting queer people, he didn't care if someone was gay, he wouldn't have a problem hanging out with gay people. So people thought he was gay. That's how prevalent homophobia was in his formative years.

When I was 10, my dad told me very seriously that Holmes and Watson were gay. That it was obvious from the literature and the time period that they were meant to be a gay couple. When I was 14 and I came out to my parents as bi, when my mum was upset my dad ripped into her for it. Told her that she was being stupid, that it was my life to live how I wanted to and that she needed to get over herself.

My dad formed my views on censorship: that being that it was completely ridiculous and thoroughly evil. He didn't believe in censorship of any kind. If I asked him a question about sex, he answered it honestly. When I was 12 and I asked him about homosexuality, still young and uncertain, he told me that there was nothing wrong with it. That it was just how some people were. That there was likely an evolutionary reason for it. And that for some people it was uncomfortable on an instinctual level.

He taught me that just because you're uncomfortable with something, doesn't make it wrong. He also taught me that most people don't understand this.

I see a lot of this on the internet as of the last few years. The anti shipping movement, the terf movement, the anti ace movement. It all stems from discomfort that people have crossed wires into believing means wrong. Really every -ism and -phobia out there stems from this same fundamental aspect of humanity.

The next time you see something and you automatically think it's disgusting, or wrong, or immoral, I invite you to ask yourself: is this actually wrong or does this just make me uncomfortable?

one egregious thing the game of thrones show misses out on is that the stark kids are CONSTANTLY thinking abt each other!! there isn’t like a single POV chapter from any of them where they don’t long for their siblings!! Jon wants to have a son and name him Robb!! Bran wants to be a bird so him and his siblings can live in a nest together!! Sansa prays for her siblings every night and makes the Winterfell castle and then gets upset bc there’s no one to throw snow at!! Needle IS Jon!! Arya’s list is her own prayer for her siblings, she doesn’t care that Joffrey is dead bc Robb is too!! Every single one of them believes that their big brother will come to save them!! there’s sm love and tenderness there and GOT missed out on lots of it bc it tries too hard for the grimdark angle without realising that the center of the stark’s story is their love for each other. anyways.

The current arc in the Spy x Family manga with Henry and Martha is literally the best Spy x Family has ever been, holy shit. I mean, it's always been excellent, but I'm living for each and every update and I kept having to scroll back up through the most recent chapter as revelation after revelation hit. Like, the fact that Henry doesn't wear the monocle because his sight in that eye degenerated due to age, but because of permanent vision loss due to police brutality as a result of him speaking out against war propaganda?
