Want to know what Aspergers is? I’m discussing all that and more right now. Aspergers is a neurological developmental autism spectrum disorder / condition. It is part of he autism spectrum disorder and has had an interesting history. Here are 5 key elements and facts that you can find super interesting about Asperger’s Syndrome. 1.Neurological Disorder Asperger’s syndrome is a neurological developmental disorder which is present in people who are diagnosed on the autism spectrum. The diagnosis was typically given in people who were on the autism spectrum without a high need of support. 2.Autism Spectrum Disorder Aspergers Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder meaning it is part of the autism neurological condition that is known and is diagnosed in one in 100 people in the UK and one in 60 people in United States of America. 3.Behaviour Traits Asperger’s is characterised by behavioural traits any person, these include lack of eye contact obsessive focus on a interest topic and the difficulties with social interactions. 4.Hans Asperger Asperger’s syndrome came from a body of research developed by a man called hands Asperger from Austria. He began his work in 1947 and was publishing information on a set of behavioural traits he noted in boys of a certain condition. 5.Name Change Asperger’s syndrome found its name change in 2013 due to a change in the DSM-V nomenclatural for autism spectrum disorders and now is formally known as autism spectrum disorder and not Asperger’s syndrome. Just because an autistic person doesn't display certain stereotypical symptoms of autism doesn't mean they're not autistic. In the past you would have to display every single symptom of autism to be diagnosed as autistic, but that method was thrown out because of how incorrect it was. Not every autistic acts like the caricature of autism that you have in your head.

This is why Asperger’s Syndrome relationships can be difficult for people. There is lots of ways in which people on the autism spectrum can enjoy a healthy relationship be it friendly or romantic. But on the flip side there are also some common struggles that can impact the relationship and cause issues in one way or an other. Here I am exploring 3 facts about relationships and autism that you may find very useful. 1.Emotional Communication issues People on the autism spectrum have major issues communicating their emotions to other people, which creates a lot of difficulties when in relationships where there needs to be open emotional communication. 2.Empathy The ability to understand how another person is feeling, almost like putting yourself in someone else shoes. This is somewhat of a miss with lots of people on the autism spectrum and can cause a lot of issues when in relationships for obvious reasons. 3.Short Term Memory It is no new finding to know that people on the autism spectrum have issues with short term memory problems. But this can cause huge issues when in a relationship when trying to remember to do small things that make a relationship a working partnership. Please leave a comment if you have anything to add. Also follow @TheAspieWorld for more autism content. Video: https://youtu.be/K5asA_k0yBI?si=c_UcqDVaNJvCxUNb https://bit.ly/4bUsKT8

Posted @withregram • @theautisticlife Can you relate? Hi, sitting still is weird and makes me so uncomfortable. If other things are happening and stressing me out, sitting with both of my feet on the ground makes me want to scream and cry because it's literally too painful. I wish it wasn't considered "weird" or "unprofessional" to sit on the floor or in similar positions since it helps many of us to feel comfortable and present in whatever we are engaging with. . . . #autism #autistic #actuallyautistic #autisticadults #autisticteens #autismo #autista #mujeresautistas #aspie #aspiegirl #aspergers #aspergerssyndrome #aspergerslife #neurodiversity #neurodiverse #neurodivergent #autismmoms #autismdads #autismparents #autismmomsrock #autisticselfadvocacy #autismpride #redinstead #autismrights https://www.instagram.com/p/CN70o38HnzF/?igshid=lm9w8sxet7zz

Judged and Mis-understood
It’s been 10 years since Susan Boyle appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, and wowed global audiences. In January 2021 she was interviewed for Entertainment.
Since Susan’s first appearance she’s gone on to sell millions of records worldwide. In 2012 she was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome and says she feels she continues to be judged and misunderstood, by people who don’t understand the condition.
She says that people still look down their noses at her. I found out in January 2019 that I had Asperger’s Syndrome, which explains my own mental and emotional struggles as Susan’s words begin to sink in.
Disability brings discord and disharmony, not necessarily because others have anything against someone with a disability, but because not everyone understands how to deal with us because of how we may present.
Autism is a neurological disorder DSM-5 classified. I also needed time to learn and understand for myself, why I presented the way I did, why I have struggled, finding out about impaired emotions through cerebral palsy, I needed to understand about that. With autism, we also have anxiety to deal with.
Sensory issues are always difficult to deal with, made harder because there is a lack of understanding of what that means. We may deal with situations a little differently, and whilst we all have our different strategies and coping mechanism, others need to accept that.
In a world that is already changed through Covid-19 and it’s not just about disability and being different, tolerance, patience and understanding is what is needed.

Not to toot my own horn too much, but I got the “r” word out of my system as an insult back when I was 17. And this was around 2004-2005. So, when I see 30 or 40 year old men still use that word (or just use the word gay) as an insult in 2020, I usually wind up thinking less of them as people.
“They’re just words, bruh. Don’t be so T R I G G E R E D.”
Yeah, they’re just words. But it’s the context and the implication that makes them bad. And using them as insults doesn’t make you “edgy” or “badass”. Using them as insults just makes you look like an immature asshole.

What does autism look like? Yes, autists have mannerisms, but there is not geneticist marker for physical attributes of autism. When criminology first developed, scientists studied cadavers to see if they could identify physical characteristics of criminals such as height, weight, arm span, etc. Anyone can be autistic. It can be your neighbor, your coworker, your friend, your child, or even your spouse. We function differently, because we process differently. We have heightened senses. I am very sensitive to light, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Being awake is extremely overwhelming and exhausting. I experience every aspect of my environment - even aspects most are unable to detect. It does not make me superhuman or paranormal. It makes me more in tune with the universe. While that may sound hokey to some, so does the idea of religion or evolution. I can sense energy, light, and sound emitted by others. Think of it as a human tuning fork. These emissions affect my interactions with others. If someone is emitting a certain frequency, my aversion to that person is similar to how many feel about fingernails, scratching a chalkboard. It is not personal. It simply means we are not compatible. Just accept my differences rather than ridicule them. In the end, your life and opinions mean nothing to me as an individual but everything to the collective. I live for myself. I appreciate myself. I accept my differences, because those differences make me more astute. Looking at me may reflect your shortcomings, but that reflection is not my opinion of you. It is your opinion of yourself. My entire life has been discrimination. I am not playing victim. I am owning my life and claiming my experiences as those events have shaped me into who and what I am now. I cannot change the past but can focus on the future. #stimming #adhd #aspie #autisticselfadvocacy #neurodiversity #autistic #actuallyautistic #neurodivergent #onthespectrum #autismawareness #aspergerawareness #autismpride #hfa #aptfitnessorg #hfaasd #neurodiverse #autisticadults #autisticpride #aspergerssyndrome #aspergers #autismspectrum #asd #autism #autismparents #autismacceptance #sensory #sensoryprocessingdisorder (at Downtown Orlando) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEfqn6cH-0F/?igshid=19zts8hpp9rjn
