So, I've been writing this scene where Astra and Mashal meet Ivander’s dad, and I ended up kinda winging it on his personality. I only knew I wanted him to be bad. It wasn't a conscious decision to make him sexist, it just kinda happened and I rolled with it.

The problem is that, at no other point in my books, is there any other mention of sexism. It isn't a thing on Illaros. So Antonin Montane is just out here hating on people in ways never before seen on the planet. That was his contribution to the Illari industrial revolution: inventing misogyny.
