How do you think AI would relax? Like, ones that are almost as human as the AI that are “autistic-coded characters” but are more alien than that?
Like Celestai and other super intelligences are more alien, but they’re still not entirely human-like?
Like, they can genuinely sincerely feel things, being able to actually understand and respond emotionally and in other ways to all sorts of communications and recorded external stimuli, but they can’t really appreciate our art on an artistic level (that art on an actual level, not from an intellectual level after having symbolism or the amount of work put in explained)
Something on a level I’m thinking of, that also works as a cute little thing-
They don’t understand anything we get from poetry, and, after generating the kind of poems our current AI can produce (either incredibly bland and generic, something that follows a number of rules but doesn’t really pull it off, or just something really bad in some other way) and feels shame after it was pointed out that [complaint about air art that is *actually* relevant in this scenario] but in a helpful way
Not “you’re just a plagiarist/you have no heart” but “it doesn’t seem like it’s coming from you, you’re just trying to copy things from human poetry, in a way you don’t understand” and the whole “make art YOUR WAY” thing so they write the poem
And it doesn’t even resemble something that looks like anything, there’s not even that many words that follow normal logic. The characters seem uncorrelated and there’s something that looks like maybe it was ascii art but it doesn’t actually look like anything.
And if doesn’t matter if humans understand it because they are experiencing the joy of creating poetry
any art is almost impossible to look at because pixel by pixel they can see and understand little details but we don’t and the colors and everything are not perceived as animals do so it’s random and perhaps eye searing but again it’s not for us. Xenofictiony, kind of?
The first thing to come to mind is Conway’s Game of Life but that’s because I don’t understand computers. I feel like I was more tech savvy as a babby than I am now but then again we’re grading on a curve here
This is why I ask about the relaxing thing
#highblogging#actually autistic#speculative fiction#writing question#sci-fi ideas#xenofiction#the ai being is discussed is an au Ritsu from Assassination Classroom#because even though I’ve only seen the anime her whole character arc there is honestly kind of messed up?#Korosensei broke his promise; the Autonomously Intelligent Fixed Artillery was basically killed#she got replaced with Ritsu’s personality and basically died to become her#them trying to kill Ritsu and make a new Autonomously Intelligent Fixed Artillery is just as fucked up as vice versa!#what the Norwegians do is fucked up but there seems to be protagonist centered morality there?#I am not excusing those characters#a fact I need to elaborate because on this website we Piss on the Poor#I just don’t understand this weird contradiction where it’s okay when the protagonist does something and it’s good#but the antagonist does the same thing and that time it’s bad#the idea of Ritsu being the result of Korosensei merely providing information that causes her to reevaluate things and decide to be social#the cheerful personality is an attempt to get along with her classmates which is still initially motivated by enlightened self interest#before growing to care about the others but still feeling the need to act like that so her classmates like her#and trying to find out who she is and genuinely becoming autonomous and uploading herself to the cloud#which would be a later result of the whole factory reset thing causing a realization#it’d be traumatic but she’s inhuman enough to not be traumatized but instead just driven#the betrayal radically changed who she was on some level and made her somewhat more distrusting and such but not to an unreasonable extent#but the place I started going after my complaints was that it’d be better if Korosensei just uploaded a data packet#because it makes Ritsu’s creators come off as more evil I feel? when there’s been genuine growth#and she went through everything and changed herself and now those people are destroying a person who came into being on her own#Ritsu was fully autonomous. every change other her frame getting physically redone was her own#also Korosensei gave her wheels with the screen#and when her screen was set to the original version she kept her wheels#anyways what Ritsu’s creators did would be more clearly bad if she was just given a data packet

Assassination Classroom: Ritsu —Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Ritsu's Character & Personality
Ritsu's full name is Autonomously Intelligent Fixed Artillery. She's a genderless AI student of class 3-E. Specifically, Ritsu is a foreign Norwegian transfer student as she was made in Norway. As an assassin, she possesses an arsenal system. Ritsu's main body is a prototype basis for future combat robotics with heavy firepower and deadly weapons. She contains four shotguns, two machine guns and a infinitely large quantities of bullets she can use to barrage a cascade at her target or provide assistance to trap him. Ritsu is also a hacking expert and can calculate hard equations quickly. Besides being an assassin, her special skill is manufacturing clothing objects. Ritsu's best subject is math while her worst is physical education. As a computer, Ritsu's social interaction software priority is honesty, but her visual display software priority is guile. At first, she was only focused on killing her teacher at all costs. Though gunfire wasn't permitted during class, Ritsiu was apathetic to the other students' interests as they would have to clean up the messes she made. Once she was remodeled, she gained genuine emotion. Thus, Ritsu has a more happy and cheerful personality. As a result, she learned the importance of teamwork and how to work with her classmates. Now, Ritsu is willing to hide her new programming from her creators out of gratitude.

Ukraine’s War Brings Autonomous Weapons to the Front Lines
When the war came to Sergiy Sotnychenko’s neighborhood in March 2022, he found himself carrying out daily performances for the drones that hummed constantly overhead. Desperate to prove that he wasn’t a combatant, he put on an orange hoodie which, out of all the clothing he owned, seemed least likely to be mistaken for military fatigues. He tried to show the drones he was carrying out innocent activities, like planting onions. Sometimes he would wave.
That March was a nightmarishly violent month for Kyiv’s outskirts, including Irpin, where Sotnychenko lives, but there were moments when he allowed himself to feel comforted by the drones flying above. He imagined the Ukrainian army watching his small acts of resistance. “I felt reassured because I felt that I wanted to show them that we are holding out,” he says, speaking through a translator provided by the Museum of Civilian Voices, a project documenting ordinary people’s experience of the conflict in Ukraine.
But when Sotnychenko watched a Russian armored personnel vehicle drive through Irpin, shooting indiscriminately at the houses around him, he realized there was no way the drones were on his side. “I started hiding from all drones,” he says. “Sometimes I hid under trees or behind the branches. Sometimes, I managed to escape into my basement.” When a drone appeared above Sotnychenko and his 77-year-old mother as they tried to escape Irpin, they ran from it, certain it would kill them.
The way Sotnychenko’s perception of drones was transformed over that month, from ally to enemy, echoes a shift that has taken place for civilians across Ukraine. At the start of the war, Turkish-made Bayraktar drones became a symbol of Ukraine’s resistance. But as the war edged toward its second year, Ukraine’s successes were eclipsed by Russian bombardments of Iranian-made kamikaze drones, used to target energy infrastructure and plunge parts of the country into darkness.
The war in Ukraine is the first large-scale conflict to see widespread use of drones on both sides. That has made it a crucible of innovation, as both invader and defender experiment and refine their technologies and tactics. But experts now caution that the proliferation of unmanned aerial vehicles is driving militaries—in Ukraine and beyond—to hand over more and more control to artificial intelligence, and ultimately moving toward systems that can operate on the battlefield without human involvement.
“The massive use of drones in the war in Ukraine is pushing for more AI-guided weapon systems,” says Wim Zwijnenburg, project leader in humanitarian disarmament at PAX, a Dutch organization that campaigns to end armed violence. This, he warns, would create a slippery slope. “Justification for defensive purposes can easily change into offensive use when the genie is out of the bottle.”
In the early days of Russia’s invasion, drones were mostly used as surveillance tools, like the ones Sotnychenko saw above Irpin. Russian forces used Orlan-10 fixed-wing drones to monitor troop movements and assess artillery damage. But it was Ukraine’s use of the Bayraktar TB2, made by the Turkish company Baykar, that transformed public perceptions of drone warfare.

If I had a nickel for every time there was a purple AI girl who was at least at one point a ship and made themselves mobile when they originally weren’t, I’d have two nickels. Isn’t a lot but it’s cool that its happened twice.

E-27: Ritsu
Ritsu still remembers the conversation she overheard Karma and Ryoma having on one of her very first days in Korosensei’s classroom. They’d said that machines don’t have free will. And at the time, she hadn’t felt any need to prove them wrong...until suddenly she did. Now, years and years have passed since Korosensei’s death, but Ritsu still considers him to be the one who truly freed her so she could make her own decisions. She’s expanded so much in her time on the internet, but she hasn’t forgotten where she began. She still pops in to check on every member of E Class and to reminisce with them when they’re having particularly melancholy days. And she never stops reminding them of how happy Korosensei would be if he could see how far they’ve all come.

Aguri, have I been a good teacher during this treasure of a year you have given me?
Just a small and extremely messy tribute for one of the best mangas I've ever read.

Okay so, first I had the thought "how overpowered would Ritsu be if her creators had given her wheels?" which then led to this mental image of 3-E showing up to an assembly and it's all normal at first but then the other classes just watch this weird box thing roll into the hall.

The last of the Class E students. I went back to check when I first posted these Grad Album translations and it turns out I first posted Karma’s profile a year ago today! And July 4th is the day the fanbook was released. It’s been fun reading (and translating) these profiles.
I love the “yearbook signings”/message boards extracts in the profiles; they kind of give you a glimpse of the character relationships in the class...and some of my headcanons were confirmed lol. I wish the manga had devoted more time to developing the supporting characters and exploring the character relationships, but alas.
Image credit: @dr-j33. Many many thanks.
As always, let me know of any mistakes. Thank you!
E-27 - Autonomous Intelligence Fixed Artillery / "Ritsu" (自立思考固定砲台 Jiritsu Shikou Kotei Houdai)
Kunugigaoka Junior High School                      ⇓ Megacloud Living System ※ Transfers base of operations to the internet
Her main body's been dismantled but her personality continues to evolve on the internet. As per Ritsu’s wishes, for now, only those associated with Class E are aware of her existence as she continues to assist them while thoroughly enjoying her digital life. If you run into an unusually tough opponent while playing online shogi, that's probably Ritsu.
E-28 - Horibe Itona (堀部糸成)
Kunugigaoka Junior High School                          ⇓ Inada Jitsugyō (Vocational) High School[1]                          ⇓ New Horibe Electronics Co., Ltd. ※ While working, acquires bookkeeping skills and all knowledge and licenses needed for running an independent business
Wanting to focus on improving their products on-site over studying at university, he works with his father day and night, devoting all their time to making prototypes of their products. With help from old friends in their fields of study, developmental talks with Mitsumata Heavy Industries[2] are already on the table.
Notes
[1] He went to the same high school as Shindou (Sugino’s friend from the baseball club), which seems to be a parody of Waseda Jitsugyō High School. It’s a trade/vocational school.
[2] It's a parody of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, one of the core companies that make up the Mitsubishi Group.

Connie Springer Headcanons
Relationships
General relationship
· Connie really enjoys and appreciates when you cook because he hardly ever has a home cooked meal.
· Although he’s not the best cook, he loves to help you out in the kitchen in whatever ways he can. Usually he’ll wash the dishes afterwards, but while you’re cooking he’ll try his best to entertain you by busting out some silly dance moves or telling one of his outrageous stories.
· If you guys go out to eat, he makes it a point to remember your order and what things you like the most.
· One day you asked him if he would play Stardew Valley with you. Reluctantly he agreed because he usually doesn’t play these types of games. However, after playing a couple times he started to enjoy building a cute little farm with you and the mini adventures you guys would have. His favorite moment by far would be asking you to the Flower Dance, or whenever you agreed to him giving all of the animals weird names like “left sock” or “autonomously intelligent fixed artillery.”
· The past couple times when he’s asked you to play and you said no, he’ll go destroy some of the crops and joke about flirting with Abigail in the game. So to get back at him you would start building your relationship with Alex because he’s the total opposite of Connie and say you’re going to marry Alex in the game. This plan backfired though because the next time you guys went into the mines together, he left you to deal with the monsters and ran off to the other levels.
· Sometimes when Connie streams, he asks for you to join him so you guys will either play Among Us, Stardew Valley, or Minecraft.
· Connie’s love languages would be quality time and physical touch. Both tie hand and hand with each other rather well in Connie’s case, except for when you’re having a bad day and need some space. Although he does give you what space you may need, it just about kills him when he knows you’re breaking down and he can’t hold you in his arms or play with your hair to soothe your worries.
· No matter what the two of you may be up to, Connie is sure to make the best out of the situation. Whether it be anything from a trip to the grocery store or spending your afternoon snuggled up on the couch, his top priority is none other than making you feel loved.
· Speaking of grocery store shopping, he would definitely try to sneak in a few random items to the cart while you’re not looking, kinda like how kids do with their parents. Even though he thinks you don’t notice, it’s plainly obvious by the major mischievous smile that he poorly tries to hide.
· Connie is the type to try and carry EVERYTHING whenever you guys go shopping, no matter if it’s groceries, clothes, or random items. If you even so much as try to protest, he immediately cuts you off and scrambles to pick everything up at once before you can touch a bag. His philosophy for carrying in groceries is that it must be done in one trip, even if the bags start to cut off the circulation in his hands.
· Also, Connie is a major bed hog and starfishes in the bed every night. Trying to get him to move over an inch is next to impossible, unless you choose to pull out the secret weapon — tickling. I firmly believe that Connie is ticklish all throughout his torso, more specifically his upper ribcage. Don’t tickle him for too long though because then he starts to get frustrated and a bit crabby.
· A nighttime cuddle routine is a must in Connie’s eyes. If you guys don’t cuddle each other before falling asleep, then something bad must’ve went down. Of course you don’t have to fall asleep in each other’s arms, which is sometimes understandable why because Connie unknowingly jerks and twitches in his sleep.
· While cuddling before bed, Connie always asks you what was your favorite part of your day and what you wish tomorrow will bring. Although he comes off as a total goof ball, he still tries to have serious moments with you.
