thinking about their push and pull...the yin and yang. zuko is battling his internal self and for most of the series, he has lost his way, yet he ended up there by doing a selfless act.

thinking about how Aang chooses to stop his journey and help those in need where he can, until tragedy stuck. he had begun to stray down the same path, but had Katara to pull him back in.

throughout the series, there is always a part of Zuko that we would assign to Aang, and there is always a part of Aang that is so close to pushing everyone out and recklessly trying to forge his own path like Zuko did.

i find it so amazing how almost all the Avatar’s looks like the previous avatar’s spouse..

example, Kavik, Yangchen’s ‘lover’, looks very similar to Avatar Kuruk (the avatar after Yangchen)

Kuruk’s lover , Ummi , looks somewhat similar to Avatar Kyoshi (the avatar after Kuruk)

Avatar Kyoshi’s lover, Rangi, Looks a lot like Avatar Roku ( who is the avatar after Kyoshi)

Roku’s lover, Ta Min, looks very similar to Avatar Aang (the avatar after Roku)

and, last but not least, Avatar Korra has facial familiarities similar Katara, Aang’s lover

idk if anyone else has ever brought this up but we all make fun of roku for trying to fight a volcano (which is fair bc it’s hilarious)

but NO ONE seems to ever acknowledge that AANG DID THE SAME THING(the fortune teller, season one). AND SUCCEEDED WITHOUT DYING. AND HE ONLY USED AIRBENDING.

"i'm no longer a kid, and everything has changed"- fills in the space between the end of season two and the beginning of season three, where katara spends weeks healing aang and picking up the pieces after his injury

"can you see me using everything to hold back?"- where the common zutara trope of zuko rescuing katara from a controlling relationship with aang is flipped on its head until it becomes kataang<3

"my heart is yours, it's you that i hold on to"- where katara and aang talk after saving the world, work through all their miscommunications, and realize the extent of their feelings for one another

"shining down on me"- a short & bittersweet sokka x yue fic inspired by mitski (which i swear has a happy ending)

"the avatar's adventures in parenting"- where aang is the good dad i believe he should be!!!

"i'm trying to tell you something, something that i already said"- where katara speaks to each member of the gaang individually and finds out that aang has been head over heels with her for years and no one ever bothered telling her!!

I never realised how crazy it was how the entire world including the grown adults depended on Aang, a prepubescent young boy to resolve the aftermath of a century old war.

Despite him being the Avatar, he was still only a 12 year old child who had to carry the burden of losing his people + fixing the outcome of a war-torn world that escalated while he was unconscious. He was the world’s last hope for justice and closure, the weight of the consequences that would prevail if he was unsuccessful with his plans were placed on his shoulders.

Imagine finding out that a century has passed, your entire race has been massacred, and a war has erupted whilst you were frozen in an iceberg that felt like a short amount of time seamlessly passed by.

And to top it all off, he was expected to take down the fire lord before an allocated time and master the elements in such a short period of time. No support system except a group of teenagers.

Aang had to go through so much hell. You lot need to give my boy credit.
