THE SWORD OF DAMOCLES IS SWINGING ⸺ this is the first book in a pjo au that i am working on, it is based on the books AND is not really based on the tv show series as i started it months before the show came out. it starts in the titan's curse and thus contains spoilers (for those who have only watched the show) for the lightning thief and sea of monsters. it is a slow burn luke castellan fic, with a little bit of grover underwood sprinkled in although as i'm writing it, i am currently considering that luke/oc/grover be the end pairing in the series. only time will tell what the endgame pairing will be. currently the book is focusing on found family and the roll the oc plays in the pjo verse.

Toni Stark is unlike any of the women Elvis has known. She's insanely intelligent, witty, and doesn't stand for anyone's shit. He develops a crush on her from afar, giving longing glances every time he sees her exiting press conferences when he's on the way to his concerts. Toni never notices him, more focused on escaping flashing cameras. But, what happens when Toni is gone for three months and comes back a changed woman with a certain glowing contraption in her chest?

Or: Toni Starks stays at the International Hotel pouring her time into the party life and meaningless one-night-stands. Elvis has a fierce interest in her, but then she's captured in Afghanistan and eventually comes back to Vegas as a workaholic and the metal hero we all know and love.

Not placed in the MCU or its timeline, I'm just using versions of the characters and their backstories in this story. Also will not be historically accurate when it comes to American politics and wars of the time. Priscilla does not exist in this story. Also not betaed.

Chapter 1: Let’s Start at the Beginning…

Antonia Margaret Stark was born during a catastrophic thunderstorm on May 29, 1945, foreshadowing the immense impact she would have on the world around her. Her loving mother, Maria Stark, was thrilled to welcome her baby girl into the world, while Howard Stark, Antonia's father, was quite the opposite. He needed a son. He had written in his will that his eldest child was to inherit the ownership of Stark Industries when he passed. Such a position was not meant for a woman. And he couldn't try to make an exception and have another child, as he and Maria already struggled to bring Antonia about. He was stuck and already held a grudge against his daughter for simply being born a female.

So, growing up, Antonia, or Toni as she would prefer to be called, was constantly pushed away by her father when she ever showed an interest in his line of work. At age 7, she had wandered into her father's office to show him a mechanical toy car she had built. He had been in a meeting with Obadiah Stane, Toni called him Uncle Obie, and when Howard was interrupted by the little girl's voice shouting, "Daddy, look what I made!" he slammed the door right on Toni, resulting in a few of her toes being broken. She didn't even have the energy to cry, too shocked to even feel the stabbing pain running up her left foot. When her mother found her crumpled on the floor by Howard's office door, her toy car scattered around her in pieces, Maria did not need to question what happened. She knew of Howard's distaste for their only child. Her mother simply bowed down to scoop Toni off the ground and laid her in her bed, calling a doctor to fix her foot.

Throughout elementary and middle school, Toni proved to be more intelligent than some of her teachers. She always won top prize in science fairs and spelling bees. Her mother was always there offering her sweet smiles of reassurance as well as her Aunt Peggy, one of her father's old friends from the military, who Toni looked up to for her strength, was there looking at her with pride. Uncle Jarvis, Howard's right-hand-man, was sure to attend every single one, being the father figure Toni never had. Even Uncle Obie had managed to come to a few of her events, apologizing for Howard's absence, claiming he was too "busy" with board meetings and inventing the next big military weapon.

From then on, Toni made it her life's mission to prove her father wrong, and show that she could be just as successful as him, if not more. Luckily, she was not alone in her journey, her mother supported her, buying her the textbooks she wanted and helping her change her bedroom into a lab space for her to experiment. And, of course, she had her Aunt Peggy and Uncle Jarvis who would come to the house to tell Howard about their adventures, but would always devote time to listen to Toni ramble on about electric circuits and whatever new scientific discovery she had made. Uncle Jarvis was the only man in Toni's life she truly trusted. He taught her how to ride a bike and tie her shoes. But, she had a special bond with her Aunt Peggy as well, her hardiness and red lipstick just two of the things Toni had admired about her aunt. She always took Peggy's advice, to always stick up for herself; not to move, but make others move instead.

At age 13, Toni was already enrolled at MIT, breezing through her courses, rarely paying attention to the lessons, having the occasional professor call her up to the board to solve an equation to which she would break down with ease. In 1958, she was the youngest and only female student at MIT. She was sure her name had something to do with her enrollment, but she also knew her credentials were beyond extraordinary. She constantly had a target on her back, not missing the sneers some of the boys give her, assuming she only got in on the basis of who her father was. But, she had many accomplishments at MIT, including her invention of the first form of Artificial Intelligence. She decided to create a robot to help her with her tools, which prompted her to try a new type of coding where the robot’s skills developed by learning through experiences. It also caused the robot to gain personality traits, one of which being its blatant ignorance, earning it the name of DUM-E. She graduated at age 17 with an undergraduate degree in computer science and molecular biology and eventually received two master’s degrees in engineering by age 19.

After her time at MIT, Toni spent her days on minor projects for Stark Industries because of her father’s refusal to give her an official position in the company. It was better than nothing, she told herself. She was participating in the hands-on aspects of the engineering, experimenting with welding and proper wire placement. Most of the time she had the fellow engineers question her methods or tell her to leave and let the men do the work. Her life went on like this for two years, she was content(ish), but felt she was ready to move on to bigger things.

Then December 16, 1966 rolled around which would cause Toni’s life to take a full 180. It seemed like a normal winter day, she woke up to go to the lab, before wishing her parents safe travels for their visit to the Pentagon. Her father shrugged her off with annoyance and told her not to make a mess of his penthouse while they were away. Her mother stood on her toes to kiss Toni’s forehead, before she said her last words to her daughter, “Farewell, Gioia, show those stuck-ups that you’re a Stark,” she whispered the last part before grabbing her bag and walking out of Toni’s life forever with the shutting of a door.

While working on a new rotator for the latest missile, one of the welders had handed her a rusted phone after saying, “It’s for you, Stark,” Her eyes became watery as she heard the monotone voice on the other end tell her that her parents were in a fatal car accident while en route to the Pentagon. She dropped the phone and ran into the tiny ladies’ restroom before getting sick in one of the toilets. Her father had taken her mother away from her. He took everything from Toni. Her mother was gone. Her sweet, caring, innocent mother who had seen Toni’s potential when her father hadn’t. Her mother who had made her tea and tiramisu after having a bad day at MIT. Her mother who silently stood up against Howard by supporting Toni’s passion. She would never see her again. Toni had never felt so helpless in her life. She crumpled on the dusty bathroom tile and sobbed into her knees for hours until someone had called Uncle Obie to come looking for her. When he found her in her fetal position, he pulled her onto her feet before speaking solemnly, “Come on, your mother wouldn’t want to see you like this,” Toni let out a sob at the mention of her mother before he continued, “Let’s get you home.” But Toni knew her home would no longer be home anymore without the smell of her mother’s perfume or her homemade Italian meals.

The funeral was quiet with only close friends and family in attendance. Aunt Peggy and Uncle Jarvis were there with their arms around Toni and their eyes stuck on the shiny caskets. Obadiah had wanted Toni to say a few words for her lost parents. Toni rambled on about her mother's proud Italian roots and how she devoted her time to philanthropy and helping those in need. How she never let her own emotions get in the way of helping others. How gloomy this world will be without her bright smile. Then it came to talk about Howard. Toni talked of his scientific discoveries and how the weapons industry would not be as advanced without him. She never told of anything personal because there was nothing to tell.

As Toni watched the dirt pour onto her parents' caskets, she discovered that she would do whatever she needed to do to reach the top of the pyramid. If it meant working until her body and mind broke, she would do it. She was no longer just Toni, she was Toni Stark.

After Obadiah Stane’s temporary position as CEO, Toni took over at age 21, being the youngest and only female CEO of any corporation, ever. She was a revolutionary, and she let it get to her head. She built weapons more advanced than her father’s, working herself to the bone for countless hours, becoming a scientific prodigy. The stocks rose drastically, until eventually Toni Stark had more money than God with too many properties, cars, and expensive paintings to count. Her life became a constant cycle of working in her lab for days, coming out for a day or two of partying, drinking, gambling, and meaningless sex with handsome journalists she would charm into her hotel room. She hid her pain behind lavish clothing, self-importance, and sarcasm.

She got herself an assistant, Pepper Potts, who was more a babysitter than a personal assistant, but they had an understanding of each other that led to an unbreakable friendship. She also had her butch security guard and chauffeur, Happy Hogan, who was hired more for Toni’s teasing than security purposes. But, most important of all, she met her best friend, her platonic soulmate, James Rhodes, or Rhodey Bear as Toni liked to call him. They met through the constant meetings between Toni and the military superiors. They immediately clicked and haven’t left each other’s side since. He went from U.S. Air Force officer to Toni Stark's best friend and the military's chief liaison to Stark Industries' weapons division. He was her rock and the voice of reason in her fuck-up of a life, cleaning the messes she left behind. He was the only one who saw the real side of Toni, past the façade of the rich, genius, playgirl, and instead saw the raw, emotional wreck of a human. And he never judged her for her true self, just held her when she cried.

When Toni wasn’t in New York for boring meetings and whatnot, she spent her days in the new International Hotel in Las Vegas. She had her own special penthouse built in the hotel with a lab for her late-night inventions and enough room to house 5 families. Her only companions were her two bots DUM-E and Butterfingers, who she'd brought from New York to stay in her hotel room. Though occasionally Pepper or Rhodey would visit for business inquiries, but most people knew to leave her alone while she was in Vegas. She spent her days in the VIP lounge smoking cigarettes, drinking and flirting with men twice her age. Vegas reminded her of herself, it was full of chaos and it never slept. It was her escape from New York, the escape from the death of her mother and her father’s dissatisfaction. So, Vegas is where she stayed.

Uchiha Mikoto's character is really weird because 90% of people's opinion of her is fanon. I've seen:

''Mikoto tried to adopt Naruto''.

''Mikoto and Kushina were best friends''.

Also, if you're going to head canon, at least make it part of her canon character. Mikoto trying to rebel against her husband or clan along with Kushina is so laughably OC because in the actual canon she stands by her husband and clan till the end. So yeah, her loyalty was to her family and clan, not to her supposed ''best friend''😂.

I suppose some Mikoto/Kushina shippers want to create a female version of Sasuke/Naruto, so they reduce both characters to these cringe copy/paste bamf caricatures. Is Kushina just their self insert? Somehow Mikoto gets reduced as this abused wife or Kushina's cheerleader.

I'm sure there's an overlap with people who write fanfic about Naruto being adopted as an Uchiha or somehow getting the Sharingan and this.

Chapter 24: Serenity

"Oh no, I loved it this time. I danced all night long." Leia rested her chin on her fist, showing her teeth in a huge smile.

Luke frowned, narrowing his eyes "Han's there?"

"I don't know where my husband is since last week." Luke was staring with eyes wide open now, "I danced with the Mand'alor for hours." Luke froze. "Oh! Kriff! This crappy holocomm just froze!" She said with a mischievous smile on her face.

"No. No. I'm still online." Luke looked down. "Mand'alor is on Coruscant?" He looked up again.

Din was feeling unsettled, his whole body was tense by the time the session was over, not because Mandalore was officially declared the newest member of The Senate, but because last time he walked away from these people he reunited with his ad'ika and deep down he was waiting to find him on Coruscant again. And if Grogu was there, Luke was there as well.

"Mand'alor!" A female voice was calling for him, he turned around and discovered the Skywalker smile on Leia Organa's face. Now that he knew by heart every inch of Luke's face he could see a little of the Jedi in his sister. "Welcome back." She said closing the distance between them.

Din was speechless.

"I'm Senator Organa, I thought you'd recognize me." She blinked as she shook her head.

"Yes! I do, Leia." Din couldn't help but call her by her name, Luke used to mention her name all the time. Ah, Luke.

"Right. Can I have a word with you?" Din nodded.

She walked him into her apartment, she offered him something to drink.

"Uh, I can't remove my helmet in front of people who are not my clan."

"Oh..." Leia frowned. "Right. I'm sorry." She stared at him like biting her tongue. Din could tell. Probably little Jedi told her he saw his face when they met. "Well, Mand'alor..."

"Call me Din." He was sitting on a couch, resting both hands on his thighs, still tense.

"A lovely name." She grinned "Well, how are you feeling?"

"Good." He lied.

She was holding the glass between her fingers, moving it in circles, sitting across from Din, legs crossed. She narrowed her eyes staring at him like in assessment "Hmm... You don't look like it." She was a clever woman indeed, Din thought. "I hope you could join us tonight."

"Tonight?"

"There's an event to celebrate Mandalore's association with The New Republic. And since you're The Mand'alor..." She was staring down at the glass in her hand and then she looked into Din's visor again. "And I'm alone here, Han is force knows where. I'm surrounded by politicians that drive me crazy when we're out of duty, so, I could really use your company at least for an hour."

"What kind of event?"

"A ball." Leia went to the point very fast. Din didn't say anything. "You know, a ball... people used to dance and eat and drink... A ball." She wasn't like Luke at all, this woman had fire inside, Din was amused by the fact.

Din chuckled "Right, that kind of event..." She smiled at him. "An hour, huh?" Din was considering it because, first, he was The Mand'alor, and second, he wanted to please Leia.

"An hour, two hours, what are three hours of your time?" She took a sip of her drink. Still staring at him.

"An hour, and that's it."

"Oh Mand'alor, please." She pleaded.

"I'll be there."

Din and Shrune went together to The Coruscant Opera, Din was astonished and disgusted at the same time by the opulence and luxury around them. "It's a good thing they can't see your face, Your Highness, but they can still deduce your annoyance by staring at your tensed stance." Shrune said to him as he looked around.

Din didn't care at all. He had to bear the incessant procession of politicians that were introduced to him, he shook like a thousand hands, he was standing there like a stupid servant droid waiting for them to come close as he tried to look polite, he was repeating to himself that this was the way, he was doing this because of his people.

An hour had passed, he was sitting at the most lavish table he had ever seen. People were dancing in the ball room, nobody came close to him for a while until he felt a gentle touch on his shoulder.

"Are you having a good time?" Leia was smiling and staring down at him, glowing. She was definitely Luke's twin sister. Din shrugged. "Come on, Din, dance with me." She was clasping him by his arm, Din stood up not believing this woman's boldness.

"I-I can't dance, don't know how to." He was staring down at her, she was so little.

"Doesn't matter, I'll show you. Just hold my hands, like this." She was putting her hands in Din's. "Now, move your feet to the right."

"My right or your right?"

"Are you serious...?" She bursted into laughter. "Now I get it! Oh boy!"

"You get what thing?" Din was really curious.

"Nothing, I do understand your appeal now." She led Din to his right and then to his left. "See? Now right, left, right... Good, you're doing great."

"Thanks." He squeezed her hands. "Did you talk with Luke recently?" He couldn't avoid that question anymore.

"Force!" She chuckled and rested her forehead against his chest plate. "Ten seconds into dancing with me and you're already asking me about my cute brother, huh?"

Din froze "No, it's not like... Uh, my Grogu, ad'ika, he's my ad'ika..." Great, he sounded as stupid as he was feeling "I wanted to know if Grogu's alright."

Leia nodded "Your ad'ika is alright and my cute brother is alright too." She winked at Din. "Now dance, Mand'alor, left, right, left, right..."

Din was blushing behind his helmet.

People approached them while they were still dancing and talking, trying to take Din's place as well as Leia's. "Please Leia, I won't dance with anyone, don't walk away now." Din's anxiety was growing fast.

"Don't worry, I need you here too, I'm avoiding these nerf herders."

When Leia came back to her room late at night, she was pleased by the fact that it would be afternoon time on Yavin IV. She reached out for the holocomm to contact Luke.

"How are you, little sunshine?" She asked smiling and staring at the blue shaded image of Luke.

"Leia!!" Luke was beaming "Leia! I'm so glad you commed me."

"Yeah, this thing works both ways, you know..." Luke tilted his head with a chuckle. "How's your day? Can you talk? I mean it's nap time there, right?"

"Yes, my Padawan is sleeping like a baby."

"Last time I checked he was a baby, Luke." They laughed. "Anyway, I've just came back from a huge event." She raised both arms and started rearranging her hairdo.

"Oh, you and your celebrity's life. How hard did you hate it this time?" Leia hated Coruscant's events with a burning passion.

"Oh no, I loved it this time. I danced all night long." Leia rested her chin on her fist, showing her teeth in a huge smile.

Luke frowned, narrowing his eyes "Han's there?"

"No. No. I'm still online." Luke looked down. "Mand'alor is on Coruscant?" He looked up again.

"Yes. We were celebrating. Mandalore is part of the New Republic alliance now, Luke." Leia could see the way his brother's face lit up despite the shitty holo resolution.

"He made it!" Luke took one hand to his mouth.

"Uh-huh. First time he talked in front of The Senate he said that Mandalore will respond if we needed to fight The Empire remnants, since he knew that they were abducting children through The Galaxy and testing on them. He said foundlings were the most important value to mandalorians. Mandalorians are warriors, The New Republic needs them on its side. Besides, he's a very polite man of few words, he's reliable, everybody respects him now."

"He's amazing, I knew he could make it." Luke was smiling.

"He asked me about you, Luke." Her voice going soft.

"Oh." Luke was frowning again.

"Don't you dare lie to me now. I know that you two got involved already. So tell me, how's it going?"

"He told you about us?" Luke's desperation was evident now.

"Oh Gods! You two are the cutest!" She laughed shaking her head "No, he didn't tell me about it, but you just did." Luke was shrugging. "But he was very obvious, he asked me about your childhood, he didn't know we didn't grow up together, I assume that you don't waste your time talking." She said ironically.

"Leia!"

"He talked about you and Grogu the whole time. I think he's in love with you."

"He's not!" Luke looked uneasy.

"What is it, Luke? I'm telling you that this man loves you and you're acting like... Oh! You are not into him anymore?" Leia's voice changed, she was very serious now.

"He doesn't love me, Leia. He can't."

"What do you mean he can't?" She asked confused.

"We're... We're not having that kind of relationship." His gaze shifted to one side to avoid staring at the holocomm.

"Oh." Leia scratched her elbow, she always did that when something was getting on her nerves. "You mean you slept together but that's all."

"I wouldn't call it sleeping together."

"You two had sex."

"Leia..." He pleaded. She was lifting one eyebrow, he sighed "Okay, yes."

"Just sex... And he's okay with that."

"He agreed."

Lea sighed and rolled her eyes, then she covered her face with both hands "I knew it! You and your stupid attachments rule! I can't believe you are forcing this perfect man to walk into a loveless relationship. You're fooling yourself, Luke! And you know it!"

"I won't have this conversation with you!"

"Yes you will. What are you thinking? He's a mandalorian! Mandalorians don't have sex more than once with the same person at least they're interested in a serious relationship, so if he came back to your bed, you're in trouble."

Luke was pressing his lips together, staring down.

"You did it more than once, right?" She insisted.

Luke was rubbing his face "It's just... We couldn't help it, it's a very different experience when he's not wearing his armour and we..." Leia screamed. Luke startled.

"Do you know what you walked into? He's a child of the watch! They don't remove their armour ever! Oh boy! This is huge! Huge!"

Luke was agape, then he managed to articulate "You're making this more difficult, Leia."

"Look at me, Luke! Please, I'm concerned about you. You deserve this, you do. Please, stop hurting yourself, I know how you feel about this man, I knew that since the first moment."

"I like him, that's all." He shook his head, then Leia caught him staring at his prosthetic hand.

"You're not him." She said in a condescending voice.

Luke snapped his head up and looked directly at the holocomm "What?"

"I know what you're thinking... You're not your father." Her face was tender and her eyes full of compassion. Leia never called Anakin her father, but she knew that he was the only father Luke knew.

"How do you know that, Leia? Huh? We don't know that?" He tilted his head.

"You had a different attitude when you left Coruscant, maybe now you're developing these strong feelings for Din, and I get it, you're scared. I get it."

"You don't get it at all. The first time we were all over each other, I had to spend a whole day avoiding Din, meditating alone in my room, scared as kriff because I lost control of the force." Leia pulled an incredulous face.

"Yeah, right... you didn't see that coming, huh? Let me tell you, I freaked out! I was out of control, Grogu was right there behind us and I didn't even feel his signature till it was too late, the kid's a heavy sleeper, he woke up because he felt the unbalance in the force, I was the reason, my feelings were everywhere. I scared my Padawan because I was a kriffing mess beneath his father's body. Do you get the picture now?"

Leia frowned and pressed her lips together, then she nodded "I'm... I'm sorry Luke."

Luke looked smaller now, exhausted, like he had just got rid of a burden. "It's okay, Leia. It's just, I tried to avoid Din, I failed miserably. But if I can keep it the way it is now, I think we're gonna be just fine."

"Are you missing him?" She asked.

"Yes."

"Then you're not keeping things the way you think."

Luke looked pensive "I tell you what, if I feel that I'm being possessive or if I realize I'm about to lose control again I'll walk out of this."

"Wait. So you're giving this relationship a shot?" She was cheerful now.

"I'm saying that I'm learning, I mean, since I meditated that day, I've never lost control again, even when he was giving me one of the best-" He looked directly at the holocomm, Leia was chuckling covering her mouth with one hand. "Forget it."

"I'm so happy for you, Luke." She smiled tenderly "Damn Holo, I want to hug you right now!"

He sighed "I want to hug you too."

no but seriously theres a stupidly large amount of more oc-inserts in naruto then any other fandom ive seen and that might be because of dreaming of sunshine (finally succumbed and read it. its not bad but my first instinct is 1. not to read first person. 2. not to read female pov. but there was a really good naruto x hp crossover with female harry. and i just had to bite the bullet at that point aghh.) i mean. im not trying to be sexist with it. but i mean. ive read way too many male/nonbinary povs that im just used to it. two, i got horribly dysphoric over she/her, although its better now (i was just in a really bad place mentally) but since i avoided it, now i avoid it out of habit and sometimes f/m relationships make me cringe. and thats probably because ive always seen the really bad ones portrayed which whoops

anyway reinen!! my beloved oc who ive only written once (in khr) which is a crime and i should write more. he/they pronouns my precious …they're probably eccentric enough that they'd belong to a clan. their appearance, he usually has his eyes closed like ranpo from bsd (but can still see), and sometimes opens their eyes in moments of shock or seriousness or something something (they have golden eyes)

also they have white hair.

they're portrayed with tan skin cause i have tan skin (reinen was originally meant to be like an oc for me the creator instead of making it look like me like i had before. but then it became something entirely different lmfao. reinens not an author insert because they're nothing like me hehe) but i honestly dont care what color skin they have? i dont even mention appearances half the time cause i always forget to write it

although. really good at T&I? well it's less torture and more on the interrogation aspect. leaning more towards.. kunoichi aspects. i think. (they're androgynous. think epel felmier from twisted wonderland because its pretty close in appearance actually) seduction probably. (where kakashi hides his appearance, reinen flaunts it probably [kakashi pointy hair, reinen curled hair]) scarily good at acting

conflict conflict like: kakashi: you shouldve been their sensei. reinen: no-- what?? kakashi: you're better. reinen: that's not… listen. they need you. i can help them on other aspects, but im not nearly as good at being on the frontlines. your team to me looks like they'll be a bunch of heavy hitters, and i cant do that. im not good at rushing in, that's not my fighting style. i get that you feel like you're broken, that you feel like you're going to ruin them. but listen. If you don't believe me on anything else, believe me on this. It's not about you. It's about your kids. So what if you 'don't deserve them' or 'you'll get them killed'? They don't have anyone else to turn to! And you know I'm busy with other responsibilities. I can't take over your job as sensei, because that's not my job. You were assigned that job and you better do it, or I swear Kakashi. What are you going to do when they die because you didn't bother to train them properly? 'You don't know how'? You have so many people you have connections to that would be willing to help if you just ask! I know Gai's had a team for a year, he'd be overjoyed to help. Or you could at least pull a few favors, I know you have a bunch of those to get other people to train them, but you can't just leave them in the deep end. That's the thing about responsibility over people. You don't do something, other people suffer. So get it together. you don't need to be perfect

Dammit, Kakashi, those kids love you already. They adore you! They don't need you to be the best, they just need you to be there. Okay? And. Maybe this is cruel. But you're not dead. They don't need you anymore. You know who does? The living people around you. That are breathing and moving. I get that maybe you won't ever feel over it, not really, but you can't prioritize them over the living. I think you should be there more often, okay? Let them know that you're first priority will always be them, not whatever they think you're doing while you're running late and still not appearing. Let them know they can trust you to be there for them. And if you can't, let them know. Indra knows those kids need an adult in their life they can trust.

(i cant find any naruto swears in place of stuff. in some uchiha-centered fics they use like Amaterasu! or Indra, i think, although im not sure how reinen would know it. but shut up i dont know of a person and i dont think god is valid here. …that is an oddly funny part. 'i don't think god is valid here'. hehehe..)

They need someone in their corner. You can be that person. Sakura has civilian parents, they wouldn't be able to understand her and she'd have no one to vent to. Maybe she'll go to you or me, we can't force her, but what we can do is make it clear she has an option. That she doesn't have to keep it inside, and that we have a lending ear for her. I can't be that alone because I won't always be free for them. I'm not their sensei, I can't excuse myself from work for them, but you can. I can't do it all for you.

Naruto has never actually had someone who'd be there for him, who'd listen, and maybe even do anything for him. I don't think he even knows it's a thing that people usually do for those they care about! Sure, there's Iruka-san but he also has responsibilities over other children, and honestly probably overworked.

The Sandaime? The hokage is meant to be unbiased.

He can't just take a break to care about some orphan nobody likes. He doesn't even stop by that often, no matter how much he probably wants to. Naruto can't rely on him to be on his side all the time.

You can be there.

Sasuke's lost in grief and anger. He hasn't had anyone to talk it through, to actually move past it. Everyone had been too worried about catching a rogue jounin, not about how traumatized a harmless little kid might've been.

help him. i was too young, you did all the work then in finding somewhere else. if not opening up our home to him, then you could at least help him in the process. make it easier.
