Fun fact: This set was built by remodeling the kitchen set from "Absolutely Fabulous." Fans of the show will recognize the layout, staircase, dining area, etc.

TV: Noddy Fishwick

"Byker Grove" es una serie que dedicó sus 344 episodios, distribuidos en 18 temporadas, a narrar las aventuras y dramas de los chicos que visitan el club juvenil en Byker, un barrio de Newcastle upon Tyne (Reino Unido). Creado por Adele Rose y Andrea Wonfor, el programa fue emitido en BBC One entre 1989 y 2006 y, como es esperable en programas de este tipo, enfocados en adolescentes y esa nueva calificación etaria llamada "jóvenes adultos", la serie tocaba tópicos complejos como la drogadicción, el abuso sexual, el embarazo adolescente, los sin hogar y, desde luego, la homosexualidad.

La fibra que tocó está última temática se llamó Noddy Fishwick (Brett Adams), personaje tuvo su espacio entre 1990 y 1995 y que, en un episodo de noviembre de 1994, besó a su amigo Gary Hendrix (George Trotter) y despertó, como no podía ser de otra manera, reacciones airadas y defensas. Fue el primer beso gay en un programa infantil y causó una gran conmoción popular, pero tanto la cadena como el propio Adams defendieron la escena de sus detractores.

Veinte años más tarde de ese evento histórico, la revista centrada en temática LGBTQ+ "Attitude" entrevistó al actor, quién declaró "Cerca de un mes o dos después de que el episodio fuese emitido recibí la carta de un muchacho de quince o dieciséis años en la que decía que estaba pasando por lo mismo que Noddy y que, si no hubiese visto ese episodio aquel día, entonces el hubiese seguido creyendo que era el único que estaba enfrentando esa situación".

Oh my god its not even a few hours apart its an entire DAY between the streaming drop and airing on TV. I take back RTD being a good business man. Allowing Disney to strong arm them into this shit deal (because its obvious Disney wanted better metrics from their US audience) is ridiculous.

For the next series I'll either have to watch it every week at fucking midnight or be spoiled by the time I watch it with my family the next day. Good bye to my sleep schedule for 2 months i guess! What a fucking riot.

Not to mention how this will decimate BBC1 viewership. You can just imagine the dominos "uh oh, Doctor Who isn't doing well! Too bad I suppose we'll sell it off. To who? Oh maybe the Mouse that's been doing suspiciously well with it. Definitely no connecting reasons there!"
